No wonder the curtains were so firmly nailed to the walls! Any bit of demonic energy escaping the room could call down a veritable army of righteous cultivators! What sort of person in their right mind would dare to summon a spirit into their own body using resentful energy in the Cloud Recesses of all places? What kind of person would scoff so rudely at the Lan Clans most important rule, ‘Do not fraternize with evil?’ After being dead for four years, Wei Wuxian wakes up in a body he doesn't really feel comfortable with, in a place that he's sure wants him dead, and married to a man who surely hates him.

All vulnerable and ripe for the taking.” The idea of any such scoundrel making it into Cloud Recesses, let alone getting close enough to even lay eyes on the jingshi is laughable, ridiculous. It has been far too long since Wei Ying has said anything ridiculous. He has missed it even more than he thought possible. _ Wei Wuxian struggles to acclimate to the change of seasons, Lan Wangji does his best to handle him with the care he deserves.

Okay so I finally discovered Battle Replays

And I spent the past hour watching all my Kayo Vs from the enemy perspective and I've learned this.

Every single "How the hell did they hit me?!" "What was thaaaat?!?!" "Dude the lag is immense" and "Are they hacking?!" moment you experience, so does everyone else.

That and Dualies are one nudgel away from cheating. Like it's just a get out of jail free card. Maybe if you're playing LAN and there's no lag or connection issues there'd be a way to play around them, but in real gameplay it's just the cheapest shit I've ever seen in a game.

I'd say it'd very super obviously be banned in tournaments due to how RNG it is, but MLGs tend to be kinda weird about what's banned and what's not. "Is it fair?" and "Is it fun?" is never considered when something is tournament banned, only "Does everyone hate this?"

My only question is... why do people still put up with this game?

I originally thought that being victim to lag is rare and some people can go throughout the whole year with little issues.

Tho whenever I bitch about this most people either go "yaaaeeeeep" or a trolly "git gud" or "git better internet"

Which, I did, I upgraded from 250mbpsDL/15mbpsUL to 1gbpsUL/DL and that did fix the "being kicked from the game because of discos" problem. Nothing else tho.

Another theory for why this happened was people purposely trying to throttle by turning on a torrent or something so they'll get the lag spike kills.

Then again

Another thing I've noticed lately is constantly meeting the same people, and they're often Japanese or way more skilled than I or my friends. Which says to me "This game is dead"

Like, maybe matchmaking isn't broken, it's just the game sucked too hard and everyone left except for the salty few.

On the plus side, I almost never get discos now. Tho again I wonder if that's cuz everyone with stuttery internet that works otherwise with every other game and media streaming just abandoned this game.

Untamed rewatch Episode 14

-my mom is definitely getting into it now, this is the third episode we watched in a row, and it was pretty late! I stand by my assertion that this is about where the show really Gits Gud

-I think tortoise of slaughter is such a great name. Gonna call my metal band that

-this little montage works very well to build the tension! sometimes cql can have good pacing. as a treat.

-wtf is with this telepathy spell they use, and why do they never use it again? is that in the novel? or is it just a device for the show, to make exposition easier?

-the interior of the tortoise shell obviously low budget but it’s effectively disgusting and creepy, especially the corpses, which are pretty upsetting to look at ngl.

-oh boy screaming yin iron sword time, here we fucking go

-wwx driving the sword through the tortoise’s head and then swinging around by it is so silly though. physics doesn’t work like that.

-oh man the part where his hand bleeds...and then he smiles...wwx really sealed his fate the moment he touched that sword huh

-oh shit there’s this part where wwx uses the resentful energy to lift all the swords and arrows lying around and drive them into the tortoise, and i feel like that might be a callback to when xichen levitates everyone’s swords during the argument with wen chao. like a visual signifier for ‘there is an insane amount of power at work here’

-luckily lan zhan is here to be Truly, Just Incredibly Soft. I wonder what went through his mind when he started humming the song, you know? whether he knew wei wuxian wouldn’t remember it. whether he was trying to comfort himself too, by reaching out in this moment.

-I love that we get to see wwx being all comfy in bed and then happy with his family after going through all that shit. It’s so soft and nice. one thing this show is really good at is balancing drama and tragedy with more gentle moments so it doesn’t get to be too much.

-I love these outfits

-of course wwx being a sweet brother is ruined by their parents’ dysfunction :/

-...jfm and yzy snapping out their full names at each other calls forward to the “WEI WUXIAN!” “Lan Wangji.” scene after wwx returns from the burial mounds. it’s a common trope as an expression of anger, but i do feel some kinda way about the idea that wei wuxian at his lowest and meanest echoes his adoptive parents’ dysfunction. when he’s doing his level best to hurt someone who cares about him.

-God. knowing how their relationship devolves after this. knowing that wwx doesn’t keep the promise he makes to his brother, and what that does to both of them. this scene hurts so fucking bad, man.

In which modern college student Wei Wuxian starts playing League and meets Hanguang-Jun online, an amazing player, who absolutely roasts him for being a noob. Over time, Wei Ying improves and the two of them become closer and Wei Ying starts nurturing a massive crush on him, but! There's also a side love-interest, the libarian's assistant, Lan Zhan... I really love the relationship between the Wen siblings and Wei Ying in this story, Hanguang-Jun's legendary roasts and the slow identity-reveal. I can't wait to see where this story goes! Excerpt: HanguangJun: Ridiculous. HanguangJun: Feeling better? Wei Ying smiles fondly and actually does feel his cheeks warm a bit but more because of contentment than anything else. Shaking the feeling off he decides to be his usual mischievous self. “No, not at all HanguangJun! I’m afraid I need more compliments if I am to survive this sad and lonely night. HanguangJun: You…are no longer the worst player I’ve ever played with. Wei Ying gapes and then breaks out into laughter once again. When The door of the apartment opens and Wen Qing and Wen Ning walk in, the hear him laughing and saying: “Oh HanguangJun, you really are the best. Please never change!"
