MUN’S NOTE.

i should apologize for this right now before i start explaining things ! for those who have noticed, i haven’t even done the second task yet before i even decided that i wanted to do this task when i saw it was posted so i honestly am a mess at the moment but i actually have thought about this task for a while ! and yes, these are all kpop songs because i honestly found that these fit more to sejun’s style, music-wise and so on. 

so the lyric above that i chose was from agust d and is what i want this playlist to represent is sejun’s personality; his narcissistic, work-driven, foul-minded, and all around bad intentions because i feel like it would be easier to explain how horrible im sejun is through songs instead of words. feel so good, agust d, sober, and super fly all represent his ‘god-like’ tendencies whether it be his successful job that he inherited from his father, his income, his social lifestyle, his drinking habits, and how he views himself; these are all key points in sejun’s life, other than his work, that are of value to himself and common things he flaunts to other people or beggars how he would call them. sour grapes is his current favorite song at the moment because he prefers more rap and hip-hop over any other genre and considers san e to be one of his favorite rappers. playboy and pretty boy basically explains his sex life and how he values his looks because all he really does is fix his hair in the free time or work out so these songs are generally ones i found that help explain how dependent he is on his looks because that’s what gets him places, either with work or with bedding people. all i wanna do and selfish and beautiful girl describes his romantic, or platonic turned romantic, relationships with people. jiyoo, hyeona, jamie, dain, basically everyone that he’s ever slept with first turned out as harmless fun but when delved deeper throughout the years, pure drama and angst could only follow because that’s just who he is. he’s someone who creates mess and chaos from his significant other all because this male can’t keep it in his pants. and lastly, i want to explain nosedive as his downfall. it hasn’t particularly happen yet but this is a song that would explain him coming to terms that he isn’t a good person. this would also help explain his father who is exactly like him, who turned out like poison and couldn’t quite grasp his youth but sejun will soon realize that money isn’t everything and also realize all the mistakes that he’s made along the way, with friendships, relationships, work, everything. that one day that he just might give up to the point where he just might up and ... disappear.

Woohoo okay this playlist is a mess ( but so is Anan ). It’s a mixture of angsty throwbacks and more recent songs because he’s a lovesick puppy. I’m only going to explain a few of the songs because some are just songs that remind me of him. 

1. “Sitting under the shade leaning on each other, feel the breath and look at each other. You don’t need to say, just stay by me. ” — Anan is such a sweetie and is a lover of the simpler things, like sitting in a park, just watching the time go by. He also likes kinda chill songs like this because he’s usually stressed and these help him calm down. 

2. “ I want to say what’s up but I been scared. Vibes out of thin air, full car, blank stares. ” — Oh poor Anan is such a shy bean. He’s not one to start conversations with strangers and he really relates to this song. He wants to talk but is afraid what others think and if they even care. 

3. “ If all you wanted was love, why would you use me up? ” — If Anan is feeling angsty this is probably his go-to song. It reminds him of his days back in high school but now he knows better.

8. “ I say goodbye to you, for the first time. ” — This song is a reminder of Anan’s past relationships and how he finally doesn’t have to think about them anymore. He’s free to live his life without the weight of those negative thoughts. 

12. “ If I don’t breathe a little, then I’ll end up being my own worst enemy. ” — Sometimes Anan’s nervousness can get the best of him and he needs a calming song like this. He tries his best but the song is a good reminder that he needs to take a step back and breathe.

creating this playlist was honestly such a rollercoaster, i struggled a lot with finding songs that i felt like fit hyeona properly but i like to think the result ended up pretty good, i tried to put these in as much of a chronological order as possible. i picked fire because how strongly it links back to hyeona’s relationship with her father - the first two verses really captivate how hyeona looks back to him and how she still feels dependent on him and on what he thinks, regardless of the lack of actual contact between the two of them. cool was chosen due to hyeona’s desperate need to fit in with the ‘cool’ crowd and how much she wants to be someone, and has wanted all her life - starting when she went to middle school. don’t recall plays into her relationship with taeyang, something that had a huge impact on her life and who she became as a person. along with her dad he has played a huge part into the person she is today. the next song is a bit more difficult, whereas twin size mattress itself doesn’t hit hyeona 100% there was a certain lyric that made it impossible for me to not include it into the playlist ‘ with tears in my eyes i begged you to stay, you said hey man i love you but no fucking way ’ it’s honestly such a hyeona thing to do ? always leaving before she can be left, and i imagine it was no different when she moved out of her mom’s place, seeing the two haven’t had contact since. i picked lie because of the way it plays into hyeona’s attitude after leaving home, so scared of being a prey that she turned into the hunter and lied about pretty much every aspect of herself so no one could get close enough to touch.bubblegum bitch is not so much a persona as it is truly a part of who hyeona is, though when she is ‘ bubblegum bitch ’ she is very closed off about her past, bubblegum bitch isn’t something she ever stops being - it’s more a question of how much does she have to trust you in order to show you she is more than bubblegum bitch.

 there isn’t a single part of old yellow bricks that doesn’t scream hyeona, ‘ love’s a risk, quite the little escapologist ’, ‘ you’re a fugitive but you don’t know what you’re running from. ’ like honestly .. written about byun hyeona.i picked limit to your love because of how closed off hyeona is, she closes herself off in everything - including love, never opening herself up enough for her to truly be able to surrender herself, hence why there’s a limit to her love. young and beautiful was chosen due to hyeona’s immense fear of being forgotten, she worries a lot about what she’s going to do when she will no longer have her looks to fall back on, and gets even more scared at the fact that there is a huge possibilities she will grow old without getting what she wants ( both love and wealth ). i’d like to think that daddy issues is rather self explanatory, she has them .. v much .. so . liability truly plays into hyeona very well, about how she sees herself as a toy and always ends up going alone at night. the song truly displays the loneliness hyeona has with the lifestyle she lives, one she is only really able to live with due to the fact that it’s self inflicted. and last but not least, i chose million years ago because of how quickly hyeona had to grow up, and how she’s been reminiscing lately - allowing herself to be more in contact with the side she likes to keep closed off and allowing herself to feel things such as sadness and bitterness towards how everything went.

this is gonna turn out hella more detailed than inwoo and sohyun’s, but bear with me. every song in this playlist represents a rather defining stage in taeyang’s life, or something that stuck out for him or his development.

i. you don’t know the half of the abuse: heathens is in general about taeyang’s early childhood and the abuse he went through even then. it’s also meant to represent the people he was surrounded by, and the people he at that point in his life really thought mattered to him.

ii. and make decisions that you think are your own: who are you really is about tae as a young child slowly realizing the truth behind his family. it’s more or less about taeyang questioning where he fits in here, or whether he does at all, and realizing that most of his future is already set — so why not slowly turn into the monster they all expect him to be?

iii. death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit: heavydirtysoul takes that development one step further and deals with taeyang coming to terms with how broken he is becoming and how he is slowly killing the little boy inside through a long, tedious, and rather painful process, the mood of the song used to convey the frustration of it all and how he doesn’t really want to.

iv. dying slow but the devil tryna rush me: but with sucker for pain, taeyang has not only started to accept this transformation, but is even enjoying it slightly — enjoying the power that comes with his position and even learning to mistake the abuse he’s shown for affection. this the stage where tae has grown accustomed to his lifestyle and is feeling comfortable with it.

v. ain’t no god on my streets: jungle takes place after tae left south korea to flee to new york - though he had a somewhat turbulent start there whilst growing accustomed to a more organized mafia mob and a more professional environment than the one he had been subject to in korea. the song is meant to represent his journey to becoming the ruthless and cold man he is today.

vi. can’t stop till the whole world knows my name: centuries represents taeyang leaving new york and the impact he had on the crime scene there — and maybe even more so what he would become in seoul again. to some extent it also shows how his transformation has come to an end and that he’s now “complete”.

vii. i am so much more than royal: quite literally, emperor’s new clothes is about taking back the crown. taeyang is now returning to seoul to take back what is rightfully his and the song also shows how power-hungry he has become — and that nothing will stop him until he has what he wants.

viii. i can’t give you love ‘cause i’m loveless: carrying the burden of the crown alone gets .. well, lonely. although taeyang has turned into somewhat of a monster, there is still humanity left in him and he does long for someone he can call a constant in his life — and so loveless represents an inner conflict between the soft man tae somewhat yearns to be and the man he needs to be.

ix. am i tricking myself nice?: two evils is more about how tae comes to resolve the conflict. he has come to terms with who he is only because he is tricking himself into thinking he isn’t that bad, and therefore he can live with no guilt on his conscience. the overall mood of the song also fits the vibe he gives off now — the calm, almost eerie atmosphere that doesn’t quite give away his intentions nor what he’s capable of, but definitely still puts up a warning sign.

x. fifty words for murder and i’m every one of them: he has given himself the title king of seoul now — victorious depicts just that: the power to roam the streets whenever and wherever he wishes to, being somewhat of a celebrity in his own sense. this song is less about his journey and more about his destination, about who he is now and about how he is perceived by others: cruel, cunning, a KING.

look, i know school’s hard. i know it’s impossible to feel successful when everyone in your family is, like, a fuckin’ genius, but it doesn’t mean you aren’t smart — you’re trying. sorta. if you had just, y’know, taken your adderall prescription instead of snorting it or selling it, maybe things would’ve been easier on you, at least academically. thinking back on it, a good ninety percent of the shit you pulled was easily avoidable, and your life could’ve been so much less complicated if you had just taken a second to think. i know that’s hypocritical of me to say, considering that i haven’t exactly matured since i was a teenager, but still. i wish you could’ve learned how to control your impulses, how to stop searching for adrenaline rushes in all the wrong places, and i wish you could’ve went to uni. i have no fuckin’ idea what you would’ve studied, considering that any type of rigid school environment makes you want to gauge your eyes out, but i don’t know, it could’ve been nice. maybe you could feel like you’re worth something, which is hard to do with so much money yet nothing to show for it, especially when your dick brother is off, like, curing cancer or whatever and you’re just smoking a bowl and watching naruto, convinced that everything is fine. ( spoiler alert, it’s not ). also, please stay away from coke. i know you’ll never love anybody more than it, i know, but things could’ve been so much different if you hadn’t gotten involved with it. and for the love of god, let people help you, no matter how inevitably fucked you think you are in life. pushing everybody away so you can get high isn’t worth it, and it never will be, so do yourself a massive favor and don’t even think about doing your first line. my life right now revolves around it, and kid, it freaks me out that your life ever did too.
