Boox Go 6 (back to the future)

Boox Go 6 a Kindle-like quality E-ink reading device with play store, hence I can download videos as well as songs with my YouTube account. This is in no way can replace a smartphone, but I really wanted just an ability to download youtube podcasts and audio books etc., avoiding the temptation to search/scroll/browse as the device is not cellular, and connecting to public wifi network is not recommended due to a lack of up to date security updates. So this device is safe as long as you use it to a bare minimum. So if I'm going out I can leave my smartphone at home and take this instead. Or I can take smartphone with me in a lockable container—something like this and time it:

Complete insanity. Another reason not to allow Artificial Intelligence to do your thinking for you.

Google's Gemini AI has received justified backlash after it obviously programmed its AI chatbot to refuse to directly produce pictures of white people, or describe achievements made by white people. Instead, the chatbot would come up with a spiel about equality and inclusivity, apparently not realising that showing other races while making a fuss of not showing one race is the very opposite of that goal.

The spiel produced by Gemini in defence of its ludicrous and bigoted decision-making is laughably predictable and shows that these so-called tech geniuses don't deserve all the praise and envy they receive. Fox News reports samples of it here.

The Financial Times article above reports on how Gemini has also been criticised for producing historically inaccurate images, such as black Vikings, when the Vikings were obviously Scandinavian. Google has admitted that it is 'missing the mark here', which I guess is the tech hipster way of saying, 'We admit that this is bullshit'.

(People at Google have degrees (including second degrees), and they were apparently unable to program their chatbot to produce historically accurate images. Think about that.)

Someone needs to ask Google what all of this ludicrous posturing actually achieves. Does Google actually understand what real racial equality is? Or have its employees been so drowned in the excruciatingly boring and empty rhetoric of diversity seminars that they can no longer tell up from down?

It's time to stop looking to these tech companies for guidance. Their posturing on so-called 'social justice' issues is laughable and has achieved precisely nothing. It's just another prop which they can use to maintain cultural relevance, and avoid the wrath of mobs that they have enabled on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, these companies have seized alarming powers to tell people what they can or cannot think. Lengthy and meaningless lectures on equality, inclusivity, yada yada, are often used as a justification for this censorship. But it is censorship all the same, and makes allegiance to tech giants a serious threat to liberty under the law.

It's time to spend more time offline, preferably reading books. Writers have agendas (I certainly do), but at least reading a book teaches you something that chatbots like Gemini cannot: critical thinking.

Someone needs to let Google know.

Hello ! I positively adore the running joke of Idia unknowingly finding Lilia to be the coolest guy ever whenever he doesn't know it's him, like when Silver described his father, or obviously with muscle red. I can't say what'd be funnier, Idia finding out his online best friend is actually Lilia, resident spooky hyper fairy; or them both never finding out, and it'd become even more ridiculous as time goes on. How do you think it'll play out ? You're always so on point

(Also, though it makes sense, I'm still devastated bat boy didn't get a ticket for the Halloween skeleton train : ( does anyone mentions him at some point ? Like how he'd have fit right in with all those Halloween town little freaks, and how he'd have impressed them with his spooks and scared techniques; after all he's been every Briar Valley's children worst fear on Halloween for centuries. I'm on the eng server and I didn't wanna spoil myself by watching the whole thing on youtube)

you and me both, Idia and Lilia being oblivious online BFFs (+ Idia being incredibly intimidated any time Silver brings up his jock gamer dad) is my favorite running joke/subplot. 🤝 it's SO good, to the point where I also am unsure if I actually want it to ever be resolved or not...maybe, like, as a post-canon stinger or something? everyone's standing around covered in overblot ink, and Idia and Lilia's phones go off at the same time...

(legit I do think this is part of why Idia couldn't be present for Lilia's dream, because for some reason Lilia decided he was going to just. embody his past self online. he probably quotes his own battle strategies or whatever in the middle of boss fights. Idia didn't pick up on the whole "oh how weird that we both live on a super remote island" thing, but he would spend thirty seconds listening to General Lilia describing siege warfare and be like "w-wait")

all that aside, however it does end up happening, I do see Lilia being very blasé and all "oh! cool!" about it. y'know, taking it very much in stride! and Idia...very much not.

as for Lilia sadly missing out on Halloweentown shenanigans...he does get one little mention as part of an offhand reference to the light music club, but so far no one has brought up how this basically is just Lost In the Book of Liliatown (Sebek's been too busy yelling about not getting to be in the same group as Malleus). 😔 honestly though, it's probably for the best that he got left out, because he would just settle right in and refuse to ever leave. canon would shatter. we would miss out on all the delightful angst of episode 7 because Lilia is too busy eating poisonous shrubbery inbetween practicing his very best screams, and no one can pull him away from it.

(I can hope for a sequel next year though...)
