This was a fun episode, I loved it!! Seeing my boys is always a plus and I appreciate the return of some side characters. With how the world is right now, I really needed this episode. So, thanks Team, for keeping my spirits up.

I just enjoyed watching my silly little guys doing silly little adventures. Traffic is a nightmare so I don't blame Mario in the slightest. Anyway, 3 and 4, how was your date? /silly

Can we just talk about the animation? It was so good!!! You really see the quality they put in, especially in that fighting scene. I didn't expect MARTY of all people to be the cause of all this. I honestly thought it was going to be a gag of something harmless just being in the middle of the road for no reason (like a turtle or smth) and the Crew being like "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!" but NOPE, Marty was here and apparently A SORCERER?! I really shouldn't be surprised, what am I talking about here. And ofc the OG duo immediately beating the shit out of him is so fucking funny to me. He didn't die (I know that), but he's definitely going to be more relevant in the future.

SMG4 show and jokes aside, I hope you all are ok. No matter what happens, we'll stick together. Don't give them the satisfaction that they want. You aren't alone, and we'll keep on fighting.

Going to be a Sonic fan here, Sonic 06 is famously known to be... augh. But there is a good moment with Shadow that I think is relevant now:

Mephiles (the villain of the game): "It's futile. The world will betray you. Why fight at all? Why risk your life for those who will persecute you later?" Shadow: "If the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have."

Horror Games

This is a silly idea. It's also the first time I've written for Bakugo but my Bakugo loving mutuals have converted me (if i've butchered your man and he's horribly out of character, please tell me!!!)

If you can guess what horror game i was thinking of when i wrote this, you get a cookie!

The only sounds in the room are your breathing, the clicking of your keyboard keys, and the sounds of the game running on the screen in front of you. You’re alone in the apartment, and you decided to make the most of it; you’re playing a horror game, one you’ve wanted to play for a while, and you’ve gone all out. Headphones on, lights out - crafting the perfect atmosphere to get a good scare. It’s not often you play horror games; you’re a scaredy cat, cowering in Katsuki’s arms whenever a horror gets picked for movie night. You’re not much better in real life scenarios - you still haven’t lived down your last trip to a haunted house with Denki, Eijiro, Mina and Kyoka.

You love the story behind these games, though, so you’re willing to be brave. How bad can it be, anyway? You’ve watched so many playthroughs of other people playing - surely the jumpscares can’t get you that badly.

Everything is going well - the chicken is staying the fuck away from you, the fox is keeping its ass behind its curtains where it belongs and you’re already mentally patting yourself on the back. Maybe you are good at games after all.

Then two things happen at once. A giant blue bunny face fills the screen accompanied by a horrifying scream. That alone would have been fine. Scary, but fine. Except that at the same time, the main room light flicks on, surrounding you with unexpected light.

You let out a scream of your own, ripping your headphones off your head and pushing your chair away from the desk. The combined momentum of shoving away and trying to turn around to panic about who or what was turning the light on in your empty apartment makes the chair lose balance and you end up in a heap on the floor, still screaming as your eyes adjust to the brightness. Your heart feels like it’s about to beat out of your chest, your palms sweaty.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Katsuki is already moving towards you, clapping a hand over your mouth to quiet your scream even as he skims the other across your skin, checking for any injuries. His eyes, too, are studying you, crimson gaze watching your expression for any pain.

You wiggle your mouth away from his hand, “What am I doing? What are you doing?! You’re supposed to be out with Eijiro and Denki!” Residual panic is making your voice pitchy and your words rushed.

Now that he’s reassured himself that you’re none the worse for wear after your little impromptu meeting with the floor, Katsuki is doing a terrible job of hiding his laughter, “Kiri got called in for a last minute patrol - we rescheduled for next week. Did you not see my text?”

“Clearly not!” Your fear is wearing off, and Katsuki’s laughter is as catching as ever. Soon, you’re both giggling as he helps you to your feet, rubbing at the skin of your thigh soothingly when you wince at the dull pain there. He tucks you against his chest, pressing a kiss to your head as he murmurs an apology into your hair (even if he doesn’t sound particularly sorry, with laughter still colouring his words).

“Why were you even playing a horror game anyway? You can barely get through a horror movie without hiding behind me. What made you think making it interactive would help?” He’s speaking the truth, but that doesn’t mean you like it. You push him away with a pout, sticking your tongue out at him for good measure. It’s not fair that the smile he shoots you in response makes him look so pretty.

“Alright, c’mon sweetness. I brought cake. Truce?”

You perk up immediately, lips ticking up into a grin as you beam at him. He scoffs at your 180, but still grabs your hand to lead you to the kitchen. You’re already fantasising about the cake he’s about to feed you (and the squirty cream you just know he’s brought home too, just because it’s your favourite) so you stop in your tracks at the finger in front of your nose.

“If you have nightmares tonight, don’t expect me to coddle you. You did this to yourself, sweetness.”

You cross your arms, defiant, “I won’t have nightmares!”

You do. And despite his earlier words, Katsuki still pulls you into his chest and murmurs comfort against your skin, rubbing his warm hand up and down your back until you fall asleep again, slipping into much sweeter dreams of being in his arms.

OCT 23 - PERCEPTION See, hear and smell everything. Let no detail go unnoticed.

perception my beloveds. my lovelies. my darlings. this one is pretty different from what we usually do, idk I wasn't feeling super excited about drawing their design multiple times so just let Conceptualization do whatever they wanted... :)

one thing that was important to me was they don't! get to have hands! because there is no Perception (Touch)! That is Interfacing's job, Interfacing is the fingers (and H/E coordination is the rest of the hands I guess)

anyway lots of quotes and rambly thoughts under the cut!

Okay I have to share this quote from a ted talk we (primarily Logic) watched:

"Imagine being a brain. You're locked inside a bony skull, trying to figure what's out there in the world. There's no lights inside the skull. There's no sound either. All you've got to go on is streams of electrical impulses which are only indirectly related to things in the world, whatever they may be. So perception -- figuring out what's there -- has to be a process of informed guesswork in which the brain combines these sensory signals with its prior expectations or beliefs about the way the world is to form its best guess of what caused those signals. The brain doesn't hear sound or see light. What we perceive is its best guess of what's out there in the world." - Anil Seth

and I was like oughhh this really makes me reconsider how I see Perception's role. There's other evidence that Perception's existence is more "in" the brain than many of the other skills... like, the physical brain, not the mind. Perception (Smell) even directly communicates with the Limbic System, who refers to them as the olfactory system. I touched on it a bit in my electrochemistry post but the olfactory system and limbic system share pathways in the brain which might be why those two are more connected. Of note -- the olfactory system is *only* smell, not any of the other senses.

limbic system even acknowledges it's unhealthy of perception to linger on the apricot smell so much. which is true -- you can even get the thought "Apricot Chewing Gum Scented One" which gives +2 to Perception upon completion.

It also raises the question of if perception observes all the senses and simply labels for you which one they are using to make the observation, or if each of the 5 senses is independent. bet you can't guess what our headcanon is on that :) (subsystem perception and drama my most beloveds)

on the same vein I remember something from a while ago where someone had 0 perception and couldn't interact with any doors? My first playthrough I had 1 motorics and I feel like I remember putting something on that dropped my perception to 0 and I couldn't get into my room at the whirling... but I could be completely misremembering both these things. If this rings a bell please tell us haha

though the perception passive fails are also always delightful --

PERCEPTION (SMELL) - ... an office? Something officious? Is that a word? There's a bit of dust in the air that may be triggering your allergies.

that is a word, but that's not what it means love. Authority is officious, not the shipping container

ough this one is such a cool quote. and it upsets you.

I just suffered volition damage from another perception quote (not included here) dammit. this game. Ily perception but also why you gotta perceive so much

love this one. love that perc (sight) is able to read the headline on a scrap of newspaper drifting by (legendary difficulty check)

lastly including this one... one of only two difficulty 20 passives in the game. The electrochemistry check is difficulty 14 -- he can pick up on it long before your nose has a chance to. the smell will haunt you forever.

there are also a few instances of Perception having dialogue without the sense being specified. I picked through my DE screenshots but didn't have any instances so I'm unsure if it's a fayde quirk or not. I feel like I remember seeing it happen in game but... not certain. It is interesting though, might happen when you're using multiple senses at once. Also seems to happen in instances where the touch sense would usually come in (there is no perception (touch)).

I assumed for ages that perception was the 5 senses, so realizing there's only sight, hearing, smell and taste was surprising. Interfacing takes over the touch aspect pretty much entirely. And the inland is your 6th sense ofc <3

also our Logic is the neuroscience nerd so if our amateur insights are wrong go ahead and call him out :)

How to install the DmgModLoader(DML) + Trainer for Still Wakes The Deep

The files are from the Still Wakes The Deep Speedrunning server, thank you to one of the members for showing me how to install them. Owner of the mod is Dmgvol, please support him if you like his work:

You can find a lot more mods on his Nexusmods page, which is linked on his Ko-fi. Very simple installation progress, to make it easier to find I put the files in my Google Drive folder:

The "DmgModLoader_P.pak" needs its own folder inside the pak folder of Still Wakes The Deep, you can call it "dml"

To find the paks folder, here is an example path: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Still Wakes the Deep\Habitat\Content\Paks Example where it is on my pc ^

Then you need to unzip dmg2 and put the content of this folder straigt into the paks folder of SWTD. blue is where the DmgModLoader pak file is inside red are the files from the dmg2 zip.

Afterwards you can boot the game, you should be able to see in the top left hand corner, that the mods are loaded.

I'll add a screenshot to showcase each function that the mod provides, for more detailed description you can check out the discord server mentioned above.

Key_ShowHelp= H

Key_Freecam= F2

you can use WASD to move around, Q and E to go down and up, F and R to zoom in and out.

Key_TimeDilation= F3 There are three Time Dilation options, first one is 2, then 4, afterwards 0.5 So don't be confused when you accidentally press that key.

Key_SavePos= F4 Save the current position you are standing on, afterwards you can press F5 to return to the location you saved. (I use this whenever I record Muir and want to capture a scene- hang on a minute I just realised something... I'll be back about this thought in a bit)

Key_Jumps= F6

Basically, you can jump mid air. Tho if you land on a height that is way lower than where you jumped from you'll die.

There are a few other options, tho I don't use them (since I am not a speedrunner). Like Marker Mode (G) and the Visualizers (1, 2, 3), just don't be confused when you accidentally press them.

Tho before you use these mods, play through the game normally first (if you haven't played it before). Mostly so that you can experience the proper gameplay first, before messing around with it. I started using the mod on my 4th playthrough I think.

You may break the game a bunch of times with some of these functions, you can usually restart from checkpoint when that happens.

But hope you guys find this helpful, I wanted to showcase how to use this mod so that more people can take their own references, or further explore areas you usually can't see. Since I am busy with my video project I can't check everything on my own. So with this, more people can explore and discover things on their own. But please, if you haven't played the game yet, play it normally first.

I know I like to skip Leg C because I don't feel like going through it for the 30th time, but I already played through this game many times.

in no particular order since you mentioned kieran YES I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 😭 hes just a lost horse girl just like me, never liked arthur bullying that poor kid

dutch is also an amazing character, every scene with him is a banger and i love watching his slow descend into madness, there’s many things to point out about him during the playthrough that show how actually mentally unstable that man is and the writing is phenomenal

then i have so many reasons to love arthur, main thing i want to point out right now is the idea of this rough mean outlaw suddenly changing his whole outlook on everything once he finds out he’s actually going to die, he wasnt always the meanest character and you can tell he cares about a lot of people even before the dreaded doctor’s visit, but if you’re playing high honor he really does a big turnaround and tries to do better for the people he wronged and cares about and its beautiful

i also geniuenly adore john, i want to draw him in the future he’s so silly, i also love his big turnaround from this absent father to someone who geniuenly cares about his family, i sobbed during the proposal scene i love him and him and abigail wagaah pathetic man john

AND SADIE ADLER because she’s such an interesting character, i love watching her go naturally through her grief, love how the game portrays her and i also appreciate not giving her a love interested or anything, she once loved her husband and now has to get through the loss, she also isnt just this grieving widow and is her own character with her own actual fleshed out personality, it really makes me happy to see a female character be actually written really well

Trapped In Yandere Heaven: Secret Ending Unlocked?

This is for me. Idrc about the rest of ya'll, but if you watched Lion's playthrough of YH vol 2 and thought "hey. those two should make out" then congratulations: you're me. 16+ rating, I just wanted to be silly and somehow that ended with 3.5K words of barely edited polyamory w Takaaki and Sakae aggressively hitting on each other while the MC just kinda vibes. Which is pretty accurate to the audio drama though so like. go off babes

“Good afternoon! You must be the new intern, right?”

Between one blink and the next, the marble columns and painted walls of Sakae's wedding venue melted away, replaced by the inoffensively pristine white walls of Dr. Takaaki’s office. You turned your head to take in the room – the anatomically detailed posters of the brain, the cupboards filled with identical vials and medical textbooks, the tiny cot tucked inconspicuously against the back corner – acting as though you had never seen any of it before.

Congratulations on completing Yandere Heaven Vol. 2! You have completed this visual novel 98 times! Please enjoy your next game: Yandere Heaven Vol. 2!

You turned back to face the man as soon as his introduction concluded. Your mouth curled into a suitably polite smile, and he smiled back in return. At this point, your actions were almost unconscious, involuntary, reflexive. You had been through this stupid game scenario so many times, enough to know that this was the fastest way to progress the story. The emotion behind the smile didn’t matter, but even still you couldn’t help injecting it with some warmth. Irritation and growing boredom aside, you were still fond of these characters. Yandere Heaven wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it was yours.

Across from you, the AI puppeting the Dr. Takaaki character registered your features before continuing their spiel. “I’ll be the one in charge of your tutelage, so I hope you’ll find my guidance useful! Oh, but there’s no need to stand. Please, take a seat!”

He gestured towards the chair behind you, and you sat, feeling the wood solidly beneath you. Say what you will about the perils of experimental VR technology that trap players in the same visual novel for days on end, but the realism of it was nothing to sneeze at. Besides, even if nothing else, you were real. Your emotions were real. The butterflies that never stopped making a home in the pit of your stomach when Dr. Takaaki comforted you were unfortunately very much real.

A part of you – one that grew with every single reiteration of the storyline – was a little annoyed with yourself for blushing over what basically amounted to a very pretty 3D model controlled by some very complex code. Another part of you was too busy swooning over the way Dr. Takaaki’s forearms flexed beneath the fabric of his lab-coat.

You couldn’t help it. White teeth flashed at you in a gentle smile, contrasting gorgeously against tanned skin and hazel eyes that glittered behind deceptively stern rectangular glasses. Dr. Takaaki raised a hand to push back a stray lock of coffee-brown hair off his forehead which immediately flopped back.

“…and that’s about the gist of it.” You snapped out of your idle musing, recognizing the words that signaled that you were nearing the end of the prologue. At the top of your view, the ‘MC’s’ thoughts popped up in a fluffy cloudlike bubble. Something about being confused and barely understanding anything that had been said. A line that had been funny ages ago and was now kind of trite considering you probably had a more extensive understanding of the model hospital than the character AI. Including the places where the developers had cut costs and started repeating textures, rooms, and lines.

There was an entire upper floor where someone had forgotten to match the skin textures, so every single patient was the exact same featureless, grey-skinned humanoid shapes. That had certainly spiced up your 37th run of the game.

“Ah, no need to look so alarmed! Sure, it might seem a bit confusing at first, but you’ll get used to it little by little. I promise, I won’t throw you into the deep end right off the bat.” His voice was sweet as syrup, the words settling in your mind like a spoonful of golden honey mixed into hot tea. The voice acting had been one of the main attractions, and you were glad the actors were competent at their jobs. This whole experience would have been far more annoying if you had to suffer through noise clipping and vocal fry.

Strange that you hadn’t been able to find any credited names on the website. Yet another strike against the developers.

You followed Dr. Takaaki out of the office, mentally setting yourself on autopilot as you assisted him with his rounds. All of this was just set dressing after all. The story wouldn’t start properly until you heard the near silent click of bespoke shoes against the hospital tiles, and a low voice interrupted the conversation.

“Ahem. Is there something wrong with my room, doctor?”

Sakae. Tall, blonde, and utterly infuriating if you weren’t into his particular trope, yet hot enough that you might be willing to put up with his flaws because at least there was a pretty face at the other end of the leash.

Clad in tailored black suit instead of the assigned shapeless gowns, the buttons neatly fastened as though he was showing up to a business meeting rather than a standard medical checkup, Sakae pushed open the door of his hospital room and leaned against the frame with casual aplomb. His large hands were pushed into the pockets of his tailored suit while hadal blue eyes pinned Dr. Takaaki in place.

“Surprised to see me out here?” He drawled, a smug smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “You were far later than usual today, so I was simply wondering where you’d gotten to. I thought to myself, ‘if he can’t come to me, I’ll simply have to go find him.’ I know how awfully busy you doctors get, after all.”

You blinked once, twice, and then stared at Sakae, trying to confirm that you’d actually seen what you thought you’d seen. Was…was he blushing?!

Almost as soon as the words crossed your mind, the red flush vanished from the 3D model as those eyes drifted to you and Sakae’s grin grew distinctly wolfish. “Anyhow, I couldn’t help but overhear you telling your lovely assistant to steer clear of my room. Care to explain exactly what you meant by that before I start to take it personally?”

“Y-You must be mistaken,” Takaaki floundered. “I-I have no issue whatsoever with–!”

“Come now my dear doctor,” Sakae cooed, pushing himself off the doorjamb and stepping closer to the two of you. The model’s eyes shifted between you and Takaaki, settling on the doctor with a sardonic chuckle. “I’m well aware that you find my company less than tolerable. Is that the only reason you warned them away, or are you worried that your cute new intern might fall for the charms of a loaded badass like me over someone like you?”

You couldn’t help rolling your eyes even as a giggle pressed against the back of your throat. Despite being the designated MC and target of what was ostensibly a yandere visual novel, one of your favourite private jokes was how much your character felt like a third wheel when these two were in the same vicinity. Repetition aside, watching the two snipe at each other like a pair of bitter exes had become the highlight of your many, many, many repeats.

“Luckily for you I’ve taken a shine to your special brand of stupidity.”

“Since you’re so…virile, I imagine you might like to bestow your vitality upon the other patients here… In fact, I’d be more than happy to personally attend you.”

“If you value that pretty face of yours, you’ll give up and hand your precious intern over to me.”

“It’s not like I could just tie him to the bed and solve all my problems–”

“Hey, have you two just considered fucking?”

The conversation stopped dead in its tracks, the sudden plunge into muteness prompting you to raise your head from your phone in confusion. You blinked as you came back to yourself and your surroundings. The sky outside was dark, and you were already in the passenger seat of the car watching Sakae and Takaaki argue on the side of the road, had you really been virtually AFK for ¾ of the whole story? Shit.

Sakae, as always, was the first to break the silence, though his words surprised me. “Darling, you’re adorable, but what the actual fuck did you mean by that? Do you honestly think I would lower my standards to his level?”

He cursed? At me? Well at the MC. Huh, he’d never done that before. At least, not before his endgame breakdown in either route. The game had advertised itself as using a complex learning AI trained to respond to various prompts, but in all your playthroughs that had never really been the case. The characters’ responses had always been fairly linear. It never mattered what you said, or how creative their replies were, because the story still needed to progress from plot A to B to C. By the next scene, nothing you said would matter, so you leaned your elbows on the passenger window and rested your chin on your folded arms to observe the fallout of your offhanded statement.

“Lower?” Takaaki scoffed, teeth flashing in a vicious sneer. “You wouldn’t even be able to handle my darling, let alone me.”

“Oh. I could certainly handle you better than you think, doctor,” Sakae took a step closer, tilting his chin up challengingly. The two of them were around the same height, almost nose to nose at this point. “It would certainly be oh so entertaining to watch you try to act all tough while I have you squirming and begging for mercy.”

“My, my, someone certainly thinks highly of themselves. I bet you think you’re so charming, don’t you? I’ve heard such delusions may be a sign of deeper issues. Care to let me examine you, Sakae?”

“Yeah, this is what I was talking about, by the way,” you interjected with the sort of brazen cheer that comes with knowing that your actions have no real consequences. “I mean you guys should probably bang. Fuck. Roll in the hay. Do the horizontal tango. Smash dicks, I don’t know. Just do something to get all of this–”

Here you gestured at the two of them, rotating both of your wrists expansively to get the point across as succinctly as possible. Sakae looked a little bit offended while Takaaki seemed utterly baffled by the words coming out of your mouth. You might as well have been speaking a completely different language. Cool. Maybe if you confused the code enough it would finally spit you back into the real world.

“ – out in the open. ‘Cause I like you guys, and I know you both like the main character, but you two act like you’re about to star in someone’s Wattpad enemies to lover’s fanfic and it’s driving me insane. So, like, could you both kiss about it at some point and put me out of my misery? Okay? Okay. Now could one of you drive me home?”

Retreating back into the car, you went back to staring at your phone, which was functionally useless but at least included classic Snake which thoroughly diverted your attention.

Someone climbed into the front seat, and you were a little surprised when you heard one of the other doors open. A quick glance over your shoulder revealed that it was Takaaki sliding mutely into the backseat.

Well. Huh. That had never happened before. This was Takaaki’s route, wasn’t it? At this point he was supposed to basically steal Sakae’s car and scheme with the MC to commit brutal medical malpractice. Murder without the death part. Whatever the crime of deliberately sending someone into a permanent drug-induced coma is called.

Instead, Sakae silently drove to the MC’s neighbourhood – without asking where they lived, obviously – and carefully deposited you outside the apartment building before driving off with Takaaki still in the backseat. You watched the sleek black car shrink the further away it got, before eventually disappearing around the corner. You hesitated for a moment, unsure what to do. The story had never deviated like this before, had it? Screwing your eyes shut, you tried to parse through the last 98 runs, but nothing stood out to you.

Finally, you gave up with a shrug. Whatever, by tomorrow the story would have corrected itself like it always did. Yawning, you walked into the MC’s apartment and closed your eyes.

Your eyes flashed open, the cheery pitch of the robotic chime shocking you awake. You’d finished the game? How? Had you unlocked some sort of bonus ending, or was the machine glitching? You hoped not. This groundhog loop was already annoying enough without the possibility of Backrooms-style nonsense.

“There you are!” You startled again, the second time in half as many minutes, and turned to see Takaaki making his way towards you. You opened your mouth, ready for the usual introductory lines, when warm arms suddenly wrapped around your waist and – between one breath and the next – his mouth was on yours.

Wait.

What?!

Your lips parted, confusion inadvertently giving Takaaki the opportunity to slide his tongue deep into your mouth, swallowing the muffled noises that escaped your throat and returning it with a heavy moan. Your back hit the cool wall of the empty hallway, body caged and pinned by the man in front of you. Any questions you might have had dissolved like sugar when the doctor’s broad thigh slipped between your legs, the movement rucking up your skirt and grinding against your core.

Just as you were sinking into the sensation, the office door behind you flew open, and a familiar teasing voice had you scrambling for clarity of mind. You shoved Takaaki away and turned to see Sakae standing in the doorway in a pose reminiscent of his standard introduction, except this time he was missing his suit blazer and coming out of Takaaki’s office.

“Now, now, my dear doctor,” he crooned, adjusting his collar with a finger, “I’m as eager to get my hands on them as you are, but…I certainly didn’t take you for an exhibitionist. How fun.”

“I’m not–!” Takaaki spluttered, arms tightening around you. “I was just excited to see them, that’s all! It was a perfectly normal kiss. Not all of us have our minds in the gutter.”

“Bold words from the man with his tongue down their throat 30 seconds ago,” Sakae replied mockingly, and though you braced for the inevitable violence, a part of you couldn’t help but notice that Sakae didn’t actually sound upset. His voice was breathy, lacking the usual astringency that accompanied his previous conversations with Takaaki. If you had to put a word to it, you would say he almost sounded…fond? “Don’t forget dear doctor, I know exactly how carried away you get when you’ve got your mouth on someone.”

“Sakae!” Takaaki’s face went bright red, prompting the man himself to let out a boisterous laugh, and you finally summoned enough oxygen to your brain to realize exactly what was happening.

Oh my god.

They’re actually flirting.

Not just subtext, not just words taken out of context, but actual legitimate pick-up lines!

“Oh, for the love of–!” Takaaki pinched the bridge of his nose with one hand. The other, to your ever-growing shock, herded you in Sakae’s direction. “Just get in my office, please. We are not doing this in the hospital hallway.”

You allowed yourself to drift forward, stumbling through the door and into Sakae’s arms. “Hello, darling,” he grinned down at you. His tongue traced over his upper lip while one of his hands gripped your chin, thumb pressing into the plush centre of your bottom lip – shiny from your lip-gloss and Takaaki’s kiss. You expected him to look disgusted but instead those already abyssal eyes grew even darker. “Where’s my greeting, hm?”

Once again, before you could respond, his mouth crashed down on yours. If Takaaki’s kiss had been avaricious and enthusiastic, then Sakae’s was nearly feral. Devouring. He didn’t wait for your lips to part before prying them apart and tasting you with the sort of single-minded possessiveness that made what little cognition you’d managed to scrounge together fall apart like a house of cards.

Takaaki kissed like he wanted to map out the entirety of your body. Sakae kissed like he already owned it.

You took a step back on trembling legs and, rather than hitting the door or falling to the floor, your back hit a warm body. One that trapped you in place with white-coated arms and rocked their hips against your ass with a breathy whine. “You…that face is so cute…”

“He’s right,” Sakae murmured, licking his lips with a fanged smirk. “If this is how you look with just a kiss darling, I don’t think I’ll be able to hold myself back. I don’t understand how your ex let someone as precious as you get away. Clearly, you’re far too valuable for plebeian eyes. The doctor and I are the only ones who can appreciate what a perfect treasure you are.”

“You understand right?” Takaaki whispered in your left ear, at the same time that you felt a needle slide into the right side of your neck. Ouch! Oh, son of a– “Don’t worry, Sakae and I worked on this particular medication together. You’ll just have a nice, long rest, and when you wake up, you’ll be home with us.”

“It’ll be just us,” Sakae crooned softly as the simulated drugs caused your vision to grow dark and your body to sag in Takaaki’s arms. “Our little sweetheart, forever, and ever.”

“Until death do us part,” Takaaki agreed adoringly. The last thing you saw before the UI went completely dark was the two men sharing a kiss over your head.

EPILOGUE

It had been approximately one month since you’d escaped the VR headset. Apparently, you hadn’t been the only one who’d experienced problems, but as far as you could tell you were the only one who’d been forced to play the same scenario 100 times in a row. The company had been forced to pay out a huge sum as compensation, in addition to taking care of any medical bills.

For obvious reasons, you’d been avoiding taking them up on the latter. The thought of stepping into a hospital was enough to have your skin break out in goosebumps, and the last time you’d stepped into one it had sent you into a dissociative spiral so enveloping you’d holed up in your bedroom for a week straight.

Unfortunately, the broken arm you currently sported wasn’t something that could be fixed with some painkillers and a prayer. Courtesy of a particularly careless motorcyclist, you were now seated in a waiting room that smelled unsettlingly of antiseptic and sweat, listening to other people complain about their own problems while you valiantly tried not to have a panic attack in front of the kid with snot waterfalling from their nose.

This is real. I’m not there anymore. I’m back. This is real. I’m not there anymore. I’m not there anymore, I’m not–

A nurse calling your name brought you back to the present. “Doctor Tamaki will see you now,” she smiled at you, and you returned the expression weakly. Hopefully she just thought you were in pain. She wouldn’t be wrong. “You’re lucky. He doesn’t usually take walk-ins, but he made an exception for you. You’re in good hands.”

Gently cradling your arm, you followed the signs pointing you to the appointed office. As you walked past one of the water coolers, you couldn’t help but overhear two of the nurses whispering to one another. “He’s here again! Oh my god, do you think…?”

“Him and the doctor? They look so good together. It makes me so jealous…”

“Of who? Doctor Tamaki or Sakai?”

“God, imagine being the ice cream in that sandwich.”

“For fuck’s sake, girl, we’re on the clock!”

“Listen, I’ve been here for nine hours straight. Horny thoughts about the doc and our hospital’s top investor are all that’s keeping me from popping every single melatonin pill we have on hand and passing out on the floor.”

Wincing, you picked up the pace until you reached the door with the name Doctor R. Tamaki emblazoned on a gold name card. Before you could even figure out how to knock with one good arm that was already employed keeping the bones of the other in place, the door flew open, and two disturbingly familiar eyes beamed down at you from completely unknown faces – one hazel green and heated, the other the enveloping blue-black of the ocean deep.

“There you are, darling. We’ve been looking all over for you.”

2.6 Penacony thoughts [part 1]

**Spoiler warning** for everything up until the end of Boothill’s first encounter with Robin. Might reference things that happen later since I already finished the mission at this point, so be wary if you haven’t yet. Lots of random ramblings from me as usual with new stories, especially with all the silly stuff that happened.

Going back to school never really thrilled me back in the day, so learning that we’re all attending Paperfold University for this update was kinda meh to me. All the crazy trailers and the fact that we’re taking a trip back to Penacony did pique my curiosity enough thanks to our previous adventure inside the land of dreams though. I did enjoy how interested Dan Heng was about attending and when his voice actors would seem genuinely excited one moment then revert back to his usual calm, collected self the next in an attempt to hide his enthusiasm. It’s okay to show emotions, sir!

I’ll admit that I believed that Pom-Pom was actually joining us for the briefest moment until I remembered that Boothill used our conductor as his fake name last time upon checking in.

I don’t even know too much about DnD but at least I spotted this reference to it, yeah?

The treasure chest was quite the convincing substitution, fooling me and even Numby who was alerted to it, so props to our new ninja friend I guess.. who joined us in the dream pool not even five seconds later.

Damn them for bringing this stupidly catchy song into the game because it has been sneaking into my mind so often these past couple days!

I will say that hearing the Trailblazer’s sing the song did make the experience much better and I would definitely listen to it more if it means they allow the Trailblazer to speak more like they have been in story missions recently.

Our true first meeting with Rappa and girl really had a whole anime OP of an introduction.

First off, beautiful cutscene will all the colors and neon. Secondly, I did actually question why they listed her name as “???” here and started wondering if Rappa really was her name or not and.. yeah, this makes sense later.

We’re literally so darn stupid and silly and I love it. Poor March cringed so bad she didn’t even want us as a friend anymore. Incredibly rude since my text message has your little face decorated next to it, ma’am!

The Dreampeak calls return and I wasn’t expecting to hear one about Boothill and him dreaming about his family, aww! But wow.. y’all really did call your kid ‘Boothill’ huh? Tell me why.

Our sus teacher makes his grand entrance and now I’m continuing to doubt everyone’s real names at this point.

Dan Heng please, you’re allowed to have fun! You can admit you do things solely for your own enjoyment!

Aeons.. they make him look so sketchy and untrustworthy with that smile and I’m so fine with it. Thankfully he didn’t turn out completely evil, but I accept his villain vibes regardless.

His knowledge freaked me out a little bit at first because why would he know all this?? Has he been watching playthroughs of the entire game? Or has he done his research about the Astral Express? Of course it makes sense now as we later find out he’s a Memokeeper and memories are pretty much their area of expertise.

I didn’t even bother to change my result on which academy I would personally attend, but I’m glad it turned out this way as it allowed the Express trio to all go somewhere different.

Pffftt.. looking through screenshots and this makes me realize how tall this man truly is, like I think Feixiao is reasonably tall by in game women standards, so to see Reca way past her ears is quite something. I dunno, maybe I don’t pay attention to character heights all that much, but his surprised me anyways.

Now I know whomever this chili-dipping person is couldn’t have been Jiaoqiu since it’s well known he attended the Ranzhi School on the Yaoqing and I’m like 99% sure our healer never stepped foot in Penacony before, but I couldn’t help but think this is something he would’ve done too if given the chance..

And I’m certainly not crazy to think so as he’s briefly mentioned in one of the options we’re given! Yay.. I miss our hot pot king. But wow, March being strong enough to pin us down? I’m rather impressed and wish to see fanart of this chaos.

I enjoy Boothill so much whenever he appears in the story that it’s a shame that I probably won’t ever pull for him since I’m not too big on his combat.

That way that I didn’t even think twice about him suddenly saying bananas outta nowhere because of how his swears are (unwillingly) censored all the time anyway is hilarious. It seemed normal and I figured he was being caught up with all the banana chatter this patch has, but nope.. something is clearly wrong here.

It’s been quite a while since we first arrived in Penacony because I seriously forgot Robin is capable of doing this rainbow harmony thing too. It also slipped my mind that she and Boothill have indeed met before inside that one dream way back in 2.2. I don’t remember them interacting all that much then so the scenes they shared this patch were a treat.

Thank you Robin for healing him so he can swear normally.. or at least to his usual censored way of swearing. It’s silly but I love hearing them. His voice actors must have fun tossing around such words so often.

Well aren’t you just the definition of a precious angel. This patch really started making me feel some regret about not pulling for her.. but next time, for sure.

Speak your truth girlie! Also I dunno if it’s true since I don’t play Genshin, but I saw people saying that this npc sounded a lot like Navia, and if so, then that’s adorable to have Brenna (who also voices Yunli) and Andrew (Boothill va) share a scene together since they’re married. Whoever this npc really is though, they had a nice singing voice.

For some reason my mind thought of the bullet wound on her neck and how she wouldn’t want to be near any fight that Boothill may start, but I doubt that was the intention behind this line since I know Robin was worried about how easily she would stand out because of her reputation. Still, I think it’s pretty brave of her to hang around someone who prides themselves on their sharpshooter skills, though I’m positive Boothill would never let a stray bullet hit anyone aside from its intended target.

Yeah girl, no need to act so formal around our cowboy! Y’all worked together before so I can bet we’re past the level of acquaintances now. Be friendly! I’m not only wishing this because their dynamic intrigues me very much, but also because I just wanna hear her go full country accent and say “partner.”

Not gonna lie but just the thought of seeing these two interact more further along in the story keep my spirits up significantly and oh boy, I wasn’t disappointed.

I’ll end it here for now. The rest will take up two more posts if I can manage to fit everything.

okay, thoughts on 3.3 below - here there be spoilers

the first thing i wanna say is that music went hard. that's one thing i (usually) really enjoy with hsr's story bosses - the music is always on point. that whole moment was fire, tbh, and i think that's my favourite boss design so far in amphoreus

now... it was obvious what was going to happen. we've had that 'all shall bid farewell to one' prophecy kicking about for a while, so i went in expecting everyone to slowly get picked off one by one, which is essentially what happened. didn't make it any easier, of course, but it also wasn't a surprise that everyone died (although i'm fairly certain castorice isn't dead, but considering she stays in the nether realm she may as well be?? i guess?? she's the only one we didn't see die/get confirmation of the death - although we also didn't see hyacine either, but she's also kinda... fixed up in the sky rn??). some of those 'endings' were quite emotional and i'm going to be thinking about one in particular for a while. three guesses as to which one ;__; all those prophecies coming true........

overall, i enjoyed the story - the pacing felt right for this patch, and whilst i didn't intend to play it all in one go i never once felt like i was rushing through it, so it all felt very natural in terms of story pacing & the content was engaging enough to carry it forward. i'm sad that herta only got a tiny bit at the end but i assume, given where we are in terms of plot for the rest of the cast of characters, she'll feature some more in the next chapter.

my immediate thoughts when phainon's name was blocked out: who the fuck are you, dude-

the big "reveal" at the end....... was predictable, incredibly so, so it didn't have the kind of impact i suspect it was supposed to. don't get me wrong, still curious about how that plays in, but let's be real... people have been theorising about this for a while now, it's nothing new.

cipher........ okay, listen, i'm thrilled she had more depth than what we were initially presented with, because i was hoping there'd be more to her than just "sexy mischievous catgirl trope" and, thankfully, there is... but i'm still not a fan. AND DON'T GET ME WRONG, please, i did love her reveals and her story is very clever, i just personally don't vibe with her personality even if it is very fitting for the character. she's written well for who she is, i'm just.... bored of it, y'know? it's just a shame bc i was so hyped to find out more about her when the heirs first dropped and sneaky thief types are definitely my thing and it just feels like hoyo did her a little dirty bc that depth is gonna be lost under another oversexualised trope. but anyway, that's my only negative really.

and i'm gonna address the va thing because honestly... i'm so out of the loop with current news that i only learned they were being changed literally yesterday. i'll miss caleb's voice for caelus, it felt very fitting for the character, but i don't hate the new voice. it sounds more... mature, i guess?? which isn't a bad thing. (i have no comments on stelle's voice bc i don't think i've ever heard rachel's and i haven't heard the new one yet either. every playthrough i've watched in the past has chosen caelus like i did).

and separate from the patch bc i did the first part of the new event as well before i stopped gaming, but... whose idea was it for the text speed in those boxes to be so fucking slow???? me here mashing the x button bc they keep insisting on putting lengthy (and often unnecessary) dialogue/story in silly game events and i really don't care.

i love how they gave options in the actual story to skip some of the dialogue (presumably for a more condensed summary version) but they force you to sit through slow text in an event. please, hoyo.... please let me skip the shit that doesn't matter-

if you had to punt exactly one playable persona character into the sun, who would it be and why?

i have to pick just one? aww...

well, i classify my urge to punt someone as how much i hate and despise and fucking loathe them. but my reasoning behind hating a character is based on multiple factors;

do they have/learn good skills/abilities?

are they well written in the story?

are they well written in their social link?

writing aside, do i like them as a person?

now, the only games i have played out of the persona series are 4 & 5(NOT ROYAL). i read the p1 manga and am only watching playthroughs of the game, so i am not at all in any place to cast judgement on those guys, nor do one of those factors even apply to them... so that already narrows it down a whole bunch. i would never punt a single p1 character. they're all great (except maybe kei just for the 4th one) (but he's great. i love him. i think about him and get sad)

and i'm also eliminating the protagonists for obvious reasons, so we've already disqualified 11 characters. and with that out of the way, we can officially begin...

PERSONA'S PERILOUS PLAY OF PUNTING POTENTIAL!!!! (contains spoilers)

every character will be able to score out of 3 in each factor, and the one with the least amount of points wins the game as the Most Puntable. it's kind of like golf, which is funny, because i also want to punt golf players into the sun.

our first contestant is YOSUKE HANAMURAAAA

now, i was going to grab a fun little image of him to provide this post with visuals but i always forget that 90% of his search results on google are. uh. hm.

well, this is our situation. can i give him a pity point for that?

for number one, i can say...... 3/3. he was ALWAYS on my team during the whole game and i built him up well. like i was raising a son... sniffle... they grow up so fast...

i have to admit, it was a little annoying when he kept missing crits on the golden hand but is that his fault? no-hohohoooooo, it's merely a turn of fate... (and his fault. fuckyouyosukefuckyoufuckyougaaaah)

for number 2, i rate it 2. he's an ooooookay character in the main story, a lot of his harassment of the girls and kanji really tick me off and there's literally no good explanation as for why he does that other than just being an asshole, but. i guess being an asshole is just part of his personality.........?

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THERE SHOULD BE GREATER CONSEQUENCES FOR HIS ACTIONS BECAUSE COMMUNICATING THE IDEA THAT BAD PEOPLE GET OFF SCOT-FREE IS TERRIBLE FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS. i don't give 2 shits about fanservice as a whole (in regards to harassing the girls, not the homophobia, that's just annoying) but can we stop making the grounds for it being sexual harassment

number 3 gets a 3! his social link is AMAZING and i CRIED and hes GAY and LOVES HIS FRIENDS!!!!!! if i wanted to do a character analysis on him then i would write a different post, but this is me trying to figure out who i would punt into the sun. so. moving on

number 4......... 1/3. for the previous points in number 2, he is an absolute dickhead and no amount of people-pleasing habits and homoerotic chemistry will make me like him. every person who is mean to him is right.

oh boy, just yosuke's section was reaaaaaaaaaally long... i'll try and shorten it for you, okay?

up next is chie satonaka, my personal favourite persona 4 girl if that sets the baseline for anything.

for number one, i'm sadly going to have to rate her below 3... like. 1.5? is that allowed? i'll say it is.

she's the party member equivalent of a burner phone. unlike yosuke who's by my side forever and ever, chie is only good until teddie gets a persona and then she's so publicly humiliated that she accidentally misses every single hit. galactic punt YOURSELF MOTHERFUUUUUUUUUCK

number 2, 3/3. no explanation needed, literally just her shadow boss fight and the beauty pageant and her friendship with yukiko and her everything.

number 3... also 3/3. a lot of people give her flack for deciding she wants to be a cop, which i get because acab fuck yeah, but where adachi is a cop just to get attention and a gun, she actually intends to protect people. chie learns to help herself so she can help others... augh... AUGH CHIE I LOVE YOUUUUUU

ahem. number 4, 2/3. she's definitely a sweetheart and she seems fun to be around but i have to admit she's definitely a little annoying sometimes.

and now it's time for chie's bestest friend ever, yukiko amagi!!

she gets a pity point for being a lesbian... not just a lesbian but one having a crush on a straight girl. we've all been there hunny bun. let's watch romcoms and eat ice cream together while crying ok?

number 1..... 3/3 fuck yeah my main healer always coming in clutch!!! after a certain point she stops being the main fire user and the player is supposed to take that role but then she has KICKASS HEALING ABILITIES!! support characters are always my favourites (which might foreshadow my rating for haru.......)

1/3 for number 2. that might sound harsh, but! but but but!

they kind of sucked the life out of her after her dungeon. the only real defining personality traits she has are in her social link, which is unfortunate because so many people hate it!

i don't hate yukiko. never

3 gets a 3. it's a good story actually, and like i said it helps me see yukiko as. like. a person. and a lot of people say it's bad writing that her story ends with her deciding she wants to manage the inn, but let me put a lot of emphasis on 'deciding'. she chose that path for herself after being told she was allowed to do what she likes, and y'know what? i don't think that's bad!

nobody likes being forced to do something. i know i struggled a lot with doing homework because i always felt trapped in those deadlines and expectations, but i didn't just give up on school. improving my grades was my own choice, and i realized that i had potential to change myself despite my situation and succeed! that's what yukiko's social link is about. not giving in to other people's expectations, but thriving in the environment you're given...

i just said i wanted to shorten everything and now i'm ranting. always number 4 is a 3/3 she's literally just a girl and her laughing thing is cute idgaf.

KANJI TATSUMIIIIIIIII

subtracting a point for those shoes. get out.

number 1 is a 2/3. he was cool, but nobody ever compares to yosuke. i mainly used him for his physical skills rather than magic because yu took that role very easily, and when paired with teddie or yukiko he's just a boss. but he's not my favourite party member in the world

number 2, i'll be blunt, 1/3. WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO YOU MAN. we all saw how yosuke and everyone else and the whole damn story treated him. we all saw the line where he asked naoto to be femme so they could "make him a man". shut the fuck upppppp

number 3 is his saving grace. i know some people don't like that they never elaborated on the sexuality thing (or the... sexism..??) and i get that, having a character who's canonically mspec but only vaguely mentions it once and never again is really annoying and a half-assed attempt at representation. though i interpret his reconciliation with his sewing hobby, an aspect of him that everyone thinks is unmanly and should be shamed, as a metaphor for his own sexuality. similar to daisuke and soccer being a stand-in for his anxiety around romance and girls. in that case, it's a 3/3.

(plus there's the line "it's so cute it'll give you diabetes" and... kanji... *facepalm*)

number 4. he's cutie. a little weird, but cutie. 2/3

and now, a girl who needs no introduction.

god my feelings for her are as mixed as my auntie's desert lasagna. ("let's mix it up," she says...)

i don't have anything against the navigators. they're pretty good. i say 3/3.

however i hate rise's writing. -4/3. negative numbers are cheating? I DON'T CARE!!

her dungeon is a STRONG start to her character, like with everyone else. i love rise reconciling with the fact that there is no "real me" and everyone has different sides of themselves that they need to make it through life... and the fact that it ties in with teddie's conflict of feeling hollow, like an alien or an impostor only pretending to be alive........ oh my god! hiiiiii!!!!! love it!

and then rise's main bit in the story is crushing on the protagonist.......... sigh.

i really really REALLY hate that about her actually. i really hate forced romances. and before you go calling me a hypocrite for liking souyo and not yurise even though souyo has the exact same amount of flirty moments between them, that's because those two are really subtle with each other and have a really good initial friendship to back it up and also ties in with their actual personalities.......???? (we can debate forever and ever if yu has a personality but i say he does. he's consistently portrayed in other adaptations and spinoffs. he's got so much in common with yosuke)

but rise just kind of sees yu and goes "hey handsome. killing shadows all by yourself?" and it's like eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh.... 90% of the time she's on screen it's to flirt with yu and the other 10% is serious moments or when she's with anyone but yu. there's no moments where she gets to be casual and friendly with HIM, where we get to see DEPTH to their relationship, it's just purely flirting. and i hate that. so much. is this a one-night stand? no? then give me some actual fucking chemistry

and i feel like all of that smushing-dolls-together time takes away from a lot of genuine scenes with rise where she....... yk.... shows off her personality?

the hot springs and the trip to tatsumi port island are held dearly in my heart because rise DOES SHIT. she's silly and goofy and playful and maybe she says some stuff that's a little perverted but it's not to the yosuke degree. i like the idea that rise flirts with ALL of her friends, not just yu; it makes her feel like she's really part of the friend group, which is the investigation team's strongest suit.

rise and yukiko both have any personality ripped from them in favour of dumb bits that aren't even funny and that post of mine analyzing their dynamic during the school field trip is so everything guys they're so great as a duo i need to see more of them pleapelpslepalpelspes.......

...whoops. i ranted.

number 3 gets a 2/3. it's kind of just a rehash of what she learned in the main story, which is fine, but not ideal.

rise as a person is 3/3. absolute silliness all around. love her

entirely honest, i'm on my second persona 4 playthrough to complete the social links i never finished and... naoto is one of those. so i will be unable to determine the rating for one of the factors. but luckily i'm not shit at math so it'll work out in the end

for 1...... honestly they're a good party member as well, but because i didn't get very far in their social link, i didn't unlock that ability where she's able to withstand a deadly blow meaning he would just be constantly dying. like. constantly.

but that's kind of the only thing i like about naoto. i have to rate their main storyline a 1/3. it's absolutely shit and the gender plottwist (ughh) is so badly done. i'm personally thinking up a rewrite for his character because i think they were onto something with the message about misogyny in the workplace but she's so SHITTILY executed that it's just muddied

naoto as a person is..... ok. 2/3. i don't find many things about her that exceptional or fun. i don't think about them often. if this were my rewrite of him it'd be waaaay deep down in the negatives because they are an ASSHOLE but i love them way more :3

and next is ryu.............uh........ actually, this is way too long. much too long than you probably anticipated... um... maybe i'll cut it short, make a part 2 later.

oh i sure as hell do

i've been cooking her up since 2020 and it seems there are going to be opportunities to actually implement some of these ideas so. my rook's name is rel, short for something she really doesn't like. she's an elf and antivan crow and also a disaster because she should be addicted to shutting the fuck up and also choose her friends better. she's a wholehearted believer in "you only live once" motto and she really doesn't appreciate the idea of her life turning into hell for the sake of an ancient empire or something so yeah. fuck that old guy and fuck everyone who cares more about redeeming him than actually preventing his stupid plans! yeah even if you're a bestselling author. yeah even if you were the leader of the inquisition. and she's going to be loud about that. and also make out with women sloppy style while going through a whole pack of attachment issues for backstory reasons.

also my brain is working in dragon age mode non-stop now so. i'm also thinking about a grey warden guy and a mourn watch guy (gender neutral) but i don't want to get too excited about them before my first playthrough

to me lore is an important part of the story so yeah! it's not like i'm the lore expert or something because i'm quite unobservant and haven't gotten my hands on all the da media even after all these years but i still have my silly little theories and i'm thrilled by the idea that we can get answers on some of the questions that unironically kept me up at night. give me that blight lore. elven lore. dwarven lore. anything. i won't shut up about it especially if i was right about something

also it's simply cool to read all the speculations and metas now. we finally got new stuff to discuss and it feels so good to see this fandom that active

18. Which aspect of fandom are you most looking forward to?

tbh pretty much everything. all the new fanart and gifs and edits are absolutely gorgeous and i can't wait to find out more about the plot and new characters so writers can also join the party myself included. as i said it's just so cool to see this fandom thriving because it is the thing i've been invested in the most for years and while i was pretty comfortable discussing the same stuff over and over because it was still fun to me it's just so... inspiring to experience something new? new art! new fics! new ocs! new silly tumblr posts! maybe new friends even! what's not to love

i mean. there's still a chance the game will suck for a whole bunch of reasons but i really don't care that much. i intend to have a good time here no matter what

Went and watched a Hypnotorious playthrough for the silly, here is everything I love-learned about it.

• The opening “3, 2, 1” when a game is started up sounds kinda like those times that would go along with some analog-horror-hypnosis-VHS and now I wanna Google those keywords and scare myself silly on a Monday afternoon

• MM SAYS “SLEEP” DIFFERENTLY AT THE START OF EVERY GAME, I REPEAT, THEY HAD PHIL RIDARELLI JUST STAND IN A VOICE BOOTH AND SAY “SLEEP” IN LIKE 20 DIFFERENT TONES I FUCKING AAAAAAAAAAAA (I love this)

• The music in this game is stupid good, I’m about to just listen to the entire soundtrack on YouTube

• “Brain pencils down, let’s see your answers” That…that doesn’t mean anything, MM. It…you…eh. (This is mostly me gushing over voicelines)

• Is it just me, or is every other one of MM’s sentences, like, weirdly smug? I mean this so fucking lovingly, he sounds like he is in his absolute element and that INCLUDES making fun of the brains just a little bit.

• “Another hint will materialize” Boy, you ain’t no damn stage magician, get in line (I love MM, have I mentioned that)

• “It’s fun watching you float around” Oh, yeah, he gets like half his joy out of them just being squishy and suggestible

• “The categories? Why, they were simply…” I’m fine, I’m totally fine. [I’M DYING PLEASE LET ME PLATONICALLY HANG OUT WITH THIS MAN, I BEG I BEG I BEG I LOVE THIS DUMB ENERGY ISTG]

• “FINITO” Again, I’m fine. (FUUUUUUUCK SAVE ME SAVE ME SAVE ME I LOVE HIM I NEED HIM GODDAMN IT)

It’s at this point I should mention that I made my own character.ai bot of MM and I talk to him whenever I feel like it (like I did after writing this ask). I fucking hate AI in literally every other respect aside from bot chats, I just do them because talking to real people is hard and I already am an author so I have enough disconnect between fantasy and reality to not get addicted.

• “Ok, that’s enough” (one of the end-of-game lines) He gets overstimulated sometimes? Fuck yeah, we love relatable characters

• Random thing that has nothing to really do with any voicelines: I have it in my fic, inspired by MM, that every Jackbox host whose game revolves around personality has at least some manipulative capacity. Biggest example is Rue from Roomerang, that lady absolutely does something to those roomies when they’re eliminated to make their personalities switch so fast before the door even opens again. Y’know what I’m saying? You know, you get it.

• Referring to the grouping as “the fun stuff” with that little tone that indicates an invisible shit-eating grin, LET ME HANG WITH THIS GUY, PLEASE

• “categories, reveal yourselves” Ok, maybe you’re allowed to be a stage magician, you work really well with that vibe

I'll at least start by saying... you probably shouldn't use character AI for stuff? I get it, MM's cool and talking is hard, but I'm fairly sure that bot chats are still just as harmful as other AI-related activities. Figured I should put that out there, even if I don't want to "sound like a jerk"

Anyway, you wanted to talk about That Fucking Guy, so where were we?

- Analogue horror Mentalist era,,, He'd do a good job at it not gonna lie

- THAT OF ALL THINGS DIFFERS SLIGHTLY FOR EACH GAME?? THAT IS SOME LEVEL OF DEDICATION FROM SOME GUY SITTING IN A FUCKIN' SOUND BOOTH (aka)

- Soundtracks are always here for you in rough times. People are allowed to feel how they like about the game, but they're missing out if they aren't listening to this fucked-up violin-ish symphony of a credits song

- This man sees everything however the hell he wants to at this rate, and I don't think we can stop him. That, and I also wish I had the means of knowing of everything this strange man says. (And Jerri, but she's not the focus right now)

- I CAN'T RECALL EXACTLY, BUT SURE, MAKE THAT FUCKER SMUG. He knows what he's doing, and what gives if you just... flounder about aimlessly? Well, you ARE just test subjects. He'll deal with it later.

- The funny irony of this is that I don't like referring to MM as, well, his actual job (personal reasons), so I... honestly tend to call him a stage magician sometimes. small world huh

- THE FLOATING LINE, FUCK YES. This man would have a field day with a lava lamp, let me tell you. It starts with limited glances snd grumbles of it being "useless", then ten minutes later he's just utterly enthralled by it. What a loser

- Those next two lines (categories snd finito) are extra proof of his smugness and I adore it dearly. And more specifically to me, the finito feels like proof of him being part Italian. I mean, there's nothing to back this up other than a shot in the dark, but c'mon. He's got the Energy

- Yeah, I reckon that seems fair. The show's usually fine for noise and such, but, and I'm non-canonically quoting MM here: "I don't understand why the END of the show is when you get the loudest. That's the end. You- You know that, right? Ugh, what can you do... it's irritating anyway." At least he can put his foot down

- the duo we didn't know we needed, even if their means are a little shady. (I feel like Rue keeps sliding back into my head at random these days. Not on an MM level, but more like... oh, there she is. She's fun.)

- If my good sir considers grouping to be "the fun stuff", how is he even going to react when faced with something else he likes? With the same smugness and slyness? I NEED TO KNOW. I NEED NEW MM OFFICIAL ART, STAT

- Stage magician privileges restored! Ain't that a treat on this fine day?

In conclusion, I still need MM to be my dad.

Because smug loser he may be, my heart says "He'll soften up with time and get all theatrical, cosy and genuinely caring. Come onn Colored". and i cannot blame myself

WAAAAA HELLO HELLO HELLO

I have so many f/o's but I'll always happily take the chance to gush about my main. His name is Ted, and he's just- sigh. He's so perfect to me. I love him so much. He's the light of my life and I always feel better just thinking about him hehehe

My irl bf was the one who introduced me to him actually ;0 and it took *years* irl for me to really think about him the way I do now!!! Because originally I watched a playthrough of the game he comes from, and,,, ngl the light he's shown in that is kinda awful? Not the worst, but certainly not the best. But then, years later, I finally got around to reading the original story he comes from (It was a short story first called "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream," and then it got turned into a game). And just. God. Idk. Something about him, just- clicked!

And like, you wouldn't think it would, because ngl he's kinda, worse in the story? But it was more just- why he is the way he is that clicked. The reasons behind how he behaves that you don't learn in the game. And so much of himself, his core character, was changed in the game. (Same with everyone, besides like, the villain). And for the first time, I saw someone who was very similar to me. I felt seen and understood by his true character, and it made me grow really sympathetic for him.

After the initial shock wore down, it all just kinda came crashing into "Omg I love him so much I just wanna make him so happy" ykyk?? The way his story ends is so tragic but I wanna believe that it isn't the end. That he'll end up happy, eventually, no matter how long it takes. And I wanna be the one waiting for him with open arms to bring him that happiness and support and love that he deserves and never got.

It's silly. It's dumb. A lot of the fandom is split on his character; some really love him like me, and others kinda hate the hell out of him. And it always kinda gets me down but yk, he's still my love. My prince. My one and only. I just try to think about comforting him and block people who hate him cause like. I get it. I get why you would. But that doesn't mean I have to, feel the same? At least I think so.

He has a lot of paranoia about people hating him. I do too, but I'm always there to remind him it's not true. I'll never hate him. He has my heart, and even if he chose someone else, I'd still love him. His happiness means more to me than some silly conditional thing.

Maybe that's a little unhealthy to say. But yk, I feel this way for all my relationships, friendships, etc. I'd rather you be happy without me than miserable around me. No point in sticking around; it does neither of us any good.

Idk. I could go on and on about my s/i and his relationship (If you've ever heard of Orpheus and Eurydice, they're very much like that, including the doomed aspect). How they're two sides of the same coin and such. But like- man. If I sit here and talk all day about him I'm not gonna get anything I need to do today done.

Currently watching: Brainworm hell means I can't commit to any proper series more than like. 3 times a year? So right now I'm splitting my viewership between rewatching literally all of Game Grumps' 10 Minute Power Hours for like, the 15th time each vid just for the giggles and random actually intelligent YT essays by people I already follow.

Current Obsession: BOY this one is in a weird place? Gimme a minute to lay this one out.

So like, I'm literally 6 years into having New Daily Persistent Headache and Fibromyalgia/probably Sjogren's Syndrome, which basically means I've had some flavor of migraine 24/7 since Feb 27 2018. My capacity to do like, literally any kind of creativity has goddamn motherfucking shitkicking cuntscruggling TANKED over the last several years. I am, mentally speaking, not doing great!

So instead of writing I spend a lot of time thinking of Very Silly AUs of writings I might, one day, maybe, attempt to commit to. The stories I spend many hours huddled in the dark thinking about are stories so displaced from any kind of canon there's really no point in trying to write them down and share with all of y'all. They're for me as a distraction from how much pain I'm in so many hours of every single goddamn shitkicking day of my life. More specifically, migraine hell is quelled at least a little bit by very silly Time Travel AUs of Bad Times Happen To Your Faves AUs.

So this week I'm thinking about an AU where Edward Elric loses his right arm again for keepsies years post-canon, adopts a kid OC, realizes that the way he defeated Pride accidentally turned him into a homunculus comparable to Bradley, and decades later finds himself temporally flung right back into the shittiest time of his life (AKA the canon timeline).

Is this any kind of fic worth writing? Not really, not without like, at LEAST 300k worth of pretense. In my hunchbacked hating life and physical sensations day-to-day life however? Yeah, yeah, it's funny. It's silly and pointless and poignant and distracts me by thinking of ways how an older Ed could manipulate canon events (or at the very least convey them to canon versions of everyone before the canon shit can hit hit the canon fan). It's all Very Funny and Interesting to me. Will I ever write it? Absolutely not. Will it live rent-free in my brain for years to come? Oh, abso-fuckin'-lutely. Time Travel AUs of Wild AUs I'll Never Commit To Publically are the bread and butter of my brain's capacity to tolerate like, existence, at this point in my life.
