The opening when he can't pull the trigger, and as a viewer you know his gun would do nothing. But it didn't matter his choice to be passive, not not engage in warfare, it doesn't mean anything. Even observers engage in war. Pacifists engage in war. And you have no control over the monster that is warfare.
