Dr House's Path - a deranged analysis

it's nearly 6 in the morning but i just love taking things too seriously and also talking about things i like. so today i would like to bring this roblox game to everyone's attention:

Dr House's Path - a shitpost disguised as a horror game featuring dr. malpractice himself having turned into some sort of god, and now you are a victim of his godhood.

you may or may not have seen it before since it's been posted on tumblr already. as mentioned, it's very much just a shitpost, however there's one specific part that had me very intrigued. to understand it, though, i need to describe the entire game. i'll add a cut for those who either care or don't care about the rest of my spiel.

when you start the game, you spawn at the bottom of a staircase. you have three options:

-go to the left corner and climb up the wall -go to the right corner and teleport to the top of the stairs -climb the stairs to the top

if you go to the left corner and climb up, you will teleport to a cart ride. there's a sign that says there's a special prize if you win this challenge. if you fail the challenge by falling off or dying somehow, you are kicked from the game. if you sit through the eternal cart ride and make it to the end, gru despicable me is waiting for you and invites you into his home for the prize. the prize is a jumpscare where a jpg of house's face jumps all around the screen. some text says "YOU IDIOT. killed by gregory house." before kicking you from the game.

if you go to the right corner or go up the stairs, you are met face to face with "god" (a jpg of house's face). house will lift you into the air and ask you 4 questions (paraphrased):

-do you have a dead cat? (yes/no/why?) -does it hurt? (yes/no/why?) -who da man? (house/me/why?) -you're really annoying (i know/can i try again?)

if you answer "why?" to each question, your screen fades to white with a stock image of a guy in a hospital bed, with edited audio of the "he's in a coma mrs. griffin" family guy bit playing over it. after some time you'll be kicked from the game with an error message that simply says "die?"

i think (i really dont remember what i pressed) if you answer yes, no, me, and i know, you are sent to heaven. a white beam appears and you teleport into a blue and red field called house's heaven. it is empty except for another beam of light, and when you step into it and ascend, you are sent back to the bottom of the staircase. there never was a heaven.

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.

if you answer the questions wrong, you are sent to hell. a red beam appears and teleports you into a fucked up shitty roblox recreation of ppth. a house nextbot will constantly try to kill you, but you will always respawn somewhere in the map so you can try again. if you walk up to the exit you will find a locked door, a keypad, and this note:

"first letter" that's a number you moron.

anyway, as you walk around the hospital, you'll find the rest of the notes (note #4 is not pictured because it literally just says "here's the 4th number it's 9" and that's boring):

(this one's super hard to read because the bot kept fucking killing me before i could get a good angle, it says "The place before was just a time between, a purgatory. The fifth number is 0.")

when you put all the hints together, the resulting code is 195906. does that ring any bells for you? 195906 -> 1959/06 -> june 1959

i think it's supposed to be house's birthday. well, it's actually hugh laurie's, but we're overthinking here, so let's just pretend it's supposed to be house's (it's only a month off according to the wiki, which i still dont really accept as canon but whatever). house doesn't like his birthday, why would it be the door code? keep this in mind for later. i also want you to keep notes #3 and #6 in mind, as well as the font in each note.

when you input the code into the keypad, the door unlocks and you're greeted with blinding white on the other side. you step inside, and...

you're teleported back to house's heaven. which teleports you back to the bottom of the staircase.

you're stuck in a neverending loop.

the ppth map is actually a separate game instead of being contained within the main game as a level (house's heaven is the same way but there's nothing interesting). and check out the description:

someone's talking to cuddy about people missing from the hospital. one could argue the "any of them" includes house and the player. curious.

so, what does this all mean? thank you so much for asking. here's my theory:

a lot of dialogue on the show talks about how house thinks of himself as better than god, or even as a god himself (i.e. wilson in s3 not telling house about that one patient because he feared he'd think he's like god). what if one day he went too far? in the pursuit of saving patients and perfect diagnoses, he made a deal? a stupid one for sure, and perhaps out of character but this is a shitpost we're analyzing so put down the pitchforks.

house made a deal with some sort of malicious entity that went very wrong, resulting in the disappearance of himself, patients, and potentially employees. the entity took the worst parts of house's subconcious and bolstered them to create the god-like being in the game, and cast aside the rest of him, the human part of him, into the ppth replica hell.

yes, i think the person who left the notes in ppt-hell was house, or what's left of him at least. the "hey, you, yeah you" in note #1 feels like a house-ism to me, and the use of "he" is referencing the "god" that sent him down here. note #3 is definitely in reference to himself as a doctor especially with the iconic "everyone dies" line, a principle he stands by alongside "everybody lies". note #6 seems to be the "god" part of house showing up, made evident with the change of language, font, and text color, and the message hinting at the futility of escape, because the neverending loop the player gets stuck in mirrors the cycle of self-destruction house constantly found himself in. he tries to change (help you get out), but one way or another falls back into his old ways (house's heaven/the staircase). note #5 seems to be aware of this, calling "the place before" a "purgatory" and the "time between", before succumbing to the hopelessness of it and letting the "god" laugh at his pitiful attempt.

so why does the door code matter? because ppt-hell (as well as house's heaven) is also part of house's subconscious. remembering his birthday, as well as the message in #3, is him trying to hold onto and remember his mortality, and perhaps his humanity. this manifested into small things like the door code, and perhaps even bigger things like the fact that the realm itself is ppth; it could've been a fiery pit or something, but house holding onto these things shaped the environment into what it is. perhaps it's only in the state that it's in now with that stupid fucking nextbot running around because of the fear and hopelessness that came from the "god" discovering his notes.

people have gone missing and become trapped in the manifestation of gregory house's self-destructive cycle, and his failure to change has left him powerless to stop it. when you're sent to house's heaven, it is empty, fleeting, and gives you a nice high. but then you're sent back to purgatory. when you're sent to hell, you suffer the lowest of lows, but you think you've persevered and found a way out, only to end up in purgatory again. again and again you enter these highs and lows, and much like house, you are stuck living this loop forever.

this is dr. house's path.
