Ground-Truth Quantum Security on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Tumblr media
True Quantum Security on Oracle Cloud
Oracle and seQure, an Entanglement startup and Oracle partner, announced that Ground-Truth, a sophisticated cybersecurity and data observability solution, is now available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This big expansion for Ground-Truth was formerly on-premises. Public, government, sovereign, and dedicated Oracle distributed cloud regions can now use the service.
Ground-Truth is a zero-trust corporate continuous monitoring tool. The major goal is to automate vulnerability and threat identification. Its ability to reduce event alerts by 90% is a major benefit.
The technology detects undiscovered cyberthreats and anomalies faster, more accurately, and scalable. High-performance computing, AI, machine learning, and quantum-inspired techniques are used. This combo gets real-time threat detection and anomaly identification from Ground-Truth. Oracle claims this practice improves customer results over rule-based approaches by reducing operating costs and false positives. For network and cybersecurity applications, Ground-Truth's AI enables threat identification fidelity with low false positives, says Entanglement chairman and CEO Jason Turner.
OCI users get improved functionality with Ground-Truth. These include automated threat and vulnerability detection in seconds. The platform uses non-rule-based models and AI-powered processes. API-driven integration simplifies SCADA, corporate network, IoT, and other OT security stacks. Ground-Truth adapts to changing settings using unsupervised learning.
The service can also handle 20TB of OCI data everyday at 1000 times faster speeds than conventional systems. Famous for its ultra-low false positive rates of less than 9.9% for corporate networks and 3% for IoT/SCADA/OT systems.
Oracle vice president Rand Waldron discussed the deployment's relevance. He said Ground-Truth on OCI helps seQure expand its powerful threat detection to more authorities and enterprises. Waldron noted that the collaboration helps the clients spot undiscovered cyberthreats and anomalies faster and more accurately. He added that OCI's performance, flexibility, and built-in security benefit customers.
Jason Turner of Entanglement emphasised OCI's infrastructure. He said this solution requires OCI's scalability and high-performance infrastructure. Entanglement offers automated scaling, excellent security, and fixed price using this architecture.
SeQure can meet data residency requirements and provide clients with AI-driven threat detection by joining Oracle's defence ecosystem. This cooperation helps customers maintain operational agility in challenging situations. It also enables enterprises use cloud computing and autonomous AI while meeting performance, security, and legal constraints.
Oracle's partner program helps customers and businesses flourish. The program offers flexibility and choice with training and enablement, go-to-market cooperation, technical accelerators, and success support.
Entanglement describes itself as a next-generation AI and computer startup. Internationally renowned scientists, researchers, mathematicians, and engineers power it. The company achieves results using advanced computing platforms, machine learning, AGI, combinatorial optimisation, and quantum-inspired algorithms. This combination allows them to deliver fast, precise, and scalable high-performance, safe solutions.

Digital innovations can elevate citizen science as an internationally recognized source of data used by policymakers and as a career opportunity for young people
The Enviro-Champs are a group of over a thousand people using citizen science to draw attention to water quality issues in South Africa.
“We work with the Enviro-Champs to support us on the ground to collect data on rivers”, said Futhi Vilakazi of uMngeni-uThukela Water.
Research by scientists at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and GroundTruth have shown that simple visual tools such as charts to identify and count lifeforms in rivers, or acrylic tubes to identify the clarity of water, can provide comparable results to laboratory tests.
Groups like the Enviro-Champs and other citizen scientists have readily adopted these tools, demonstrating the unique contribution that can come from co-engaged local communities. Citizen scientists can collect more data over longer periods, across large regions or with greater intensity. In one study*, volunteers monitored how water pollution from wastewater treatment works varied every day between 2012 and 2019. Less than two years after the treatment plant was made aware of this monitoring, their compliance with regulations shot up from zero to 60-70%.
Nonetheless, citizen science comes with its own challenges. The process remains highly manual and often paper-based, relying on the selfless dedication of volunteers to improve local issues. Although the community aspect can be a powerful motivator to local authorities, the data they collect are often seen as being too unreliable to use for management.
Through the CGIAR Initiative on Digital Innovation, IWMI, Groundtruth and key local partners are collaborating to develop technological upgrades that can transform the impact of citizen science.
This includes a smartphone app to digitize, geolocate and upload citizen science river health surveys, using the mini stream assessment scoring system (miniSASS), to an online platform. There have been >350 river health surveys submitted by citizen scientists in 2024. An image recognition AI function was created to recognize lifeforms in the river that indicate water quality, helping verify the data in real time.

If you’re like me and don’t have the time and/or energy to fact check all the Gaza fundraisers going around and don’t trust some random tumblr users to vet them for you, here are some lists of organizations that support Palestinians:
CharityWatch has a list from Oct 10th 2023, I was unable to find a more recent list, but you can check for updated status on each organization
From TheNewHumanitarian:
“The report is part of the SCORE series, which are perceptions surveys that try to groundtruth reach and effectiveness by interviewing people who use aid (in this case, 810 people in Gaza by phone in February).
Gaza’s biggest aid provider, UNRWA, is “by far the most present and effective”, respondents said. Others mentioned include: the Ministry of Social Development, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the World Food Programme, UNICEF, the UAE’s Red Crescent, ICRC, the Palestinian NGO MA’AN, celeb chef José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen, the development organisation Global Communities, and MSF. Also: Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan are playing prominent roles in aid, interviewees said.”
[this paragraph is here with hyperlinks I added because the article didn’t have them ): ]
ImpactfulNinja I wasn’t sure about this site but several of its recommendations are on the other sites as well, so it’s probably good, though there isn’t an exact post date
CharityNavigator names several support for Israel groups at the start but has Gaza/Palestine groups after them
HumanRightsCareers one more, just to top it off
The only Palestine related thing I’m against is spam in my inbox. I ain’t got time nor energy to vet the shit ton of campaigns I get sent, not do I trust the random ass tumblrina guy over there to vet them for me, and I report spam as spam, cause deleting doesn’t decrease the amount I get, fucking deal with it
And I don’t support Hamas pr other antisemitic groups or individuals, “from the river to the sea” was coined by Hamas and is about killing all Jews, stop using it unless you’re an antisemite, I ain’t arguing with you shits

At a Sunday Mass for 40,000 people at University of Manila, 12-year-old Glyzelle Palomar, who lives in a foundation home for abandoned children, read a statement in her native dialect, translated for the pope and press. Well-groomed, in a lovely dress, she said: “There are many children neglected by their own parents…[and] are also many who became victims and many terrible things happened to them like drugs or prostitution.” Voice breaking, Glyzelle asked, “Why is God allowing such things to happen, even if it is not the fault of the children?”
Glyzelle Palomar quoted in a report by Jason Berry in The Groundtruth Project (Jan 24 2015). Pope Francis, Dostoyevsky and the tears of a child
Last night I was remembering Pope Francis by looking at Pope Francis – a life in pictures at The Guardian. And I was recalling pictures of him in my head, The photo of Glyzelle Palomar and Francis is one of the images in my head. Perhaps not the particular photograph, but the memory of her address and her tears.
I had not known that Pope Francis had called The Brothers Karamazov,  “a life mentor to me.” And at the time I probably didn't read his remarks. But Jason Berry's report is worth reading because Pope Francis's remarkare quite profound.

Crate Digger’s Corner: A String of Albums!
Tumblr media
Crate Digger’s Corner…by DJ Musically Rich
(If you’d like to listen to a track from the album as you read, go to the end of the post to start the song)
Today in Crate Digger’s Corner, to continue trying to give you as many new music options as possible to listen to (for more, check out my Instagram, info below) I am going to string albums together. What I mean by this is each album is going to have a person that contributed that will be on the next album. I’m not going to use a single artist more than once in the line of albums. I will (as I did last week with my Medeski albums) try to keep these between 6-10 records. Enjoy, and I hope you find some new favorites!
From modern rock/Americana to ‘70s Latin rock and funk. Late ‘60s R&B to various subgenres of modern jazz including avant-garde and groove jazz. This list covers a lot of musical ground, with crossovers from album to album. Let’s get to them; I’ll try to be somewhat brief. I’m using a series of slashes to separate the two albums from the person in common and short descriptions of the albums. Also, I will use initials for the artist & album the second time I write it to save time.
The Wood Brothers- ‘Paradise’ > Oren Bloedow- ‘The Luckiest Boy In The World’/////// Chris Wood plays bass on the funky 2015 album by The Wood Brothers. It is incredibly catchy and will leave you waning more at the end of it. He also, played bass, alongside his cohorts in MMW, behind art-rock/pop musician Oren Bloedow. The group adds a great vibe to his songs.
OB-TLBITW > Charlie Hunter and Bobby Previte as Groundtruther w/ special guest John Medeski- ‘Altitude’/////////// John Medeski is one of the M's in MMW that backed the Oren Bloedow album. He also joined as a special guest on one of the three albums that guitarist Charlie Hunter and drummer Bobby Previte did together as the side project Groundtruther (yes, the other two albums are named Longitude and Latitude). Despite both having their fame come mostly from being able to get people up off their feet dancing by being funky and groove-oriented, they are both equally adept at all various subgenres of jazz and on this one they explore a completely improvised approach that takes the trio from the occasional groove into complete chaos and all in between.
Groundtruther > Charlie Hunter/Leon Parker- ‘Duo’///////////// Charlie Hunter is obviously the crossover on this one as he plays his 8-string guitar, so he can play bass and guitar rhythm and leads simultaneously, with exceptional drummer/percussionist Leon Parker. This definitely falls on the groove side of Charlie Hunter.
CH/LP > Tom Harrell- ‘Labyrinth’///////////Leon Parker makes the jump from the ‘Duo’ album to play on Tom Harrell’s ‘Labyrinth’. A fantastic trumpeter and composer, this is a great acoustic modern jazz album by Harrell.
‘Labyrinth’ > Aztec a- ‘Pyramid Of The Moon’////////Back in the 1970s Tom Harrell played trumpet in a San Francisco, Latin rock band. Alongside Pete Escovedo, Coke Escovedo and Paul Jackson, amongst many others, they laid down a brand of rock that quality-wise certainly reached Santana’s, if not surpassed it, even if the fame never quite found this band. Santana’s current second guitarist at the time a young, shredding Neal Schon contributes a lead solo to one of the tracks.
Azteca > Greg Errico- ‘San Francisco Giants’///////// The (by the time this album was put out) former Sly & The Family Stone drummer put together this late ‘70s funky, Latin rock album that had the tie to the last album on guitar, Neal Schon.
SF Giants > Sly And The Family Stone- ‘Stand’/////////// Greg Errico was, of course, the drummer for this outstanding album from 1968 by Sly And The Family Stone. The album had hits ‘I Want To Take You Higher’, ‘Stand!’, ‘Everyday People’ and a few more, and is also still a fantastic statement on what was happening during those times.
I hope you get a chance to check out these 8 albums and enjoyed following the string of artists that overlapped from album to album!

Gentrification, Artwashing, & The Creative Placemaking Hustle This particular series of #Groundtruthings was prompted by an article in the San Diego Union Tribune “LA-style studios crop up in East Village, as not-so-broke artists collect at The Ratner “ by Brittany Meiling. In the article Brittany characterizes the rising rents and displacement of local residents “in a once-derelict neighborhood (best known for housing cash-strapped artists)” as “out with the boho artists, in with the cash-flow-positive ones”. “LA-style” that is, she and the developers say they are making room for an influx of “Los Angeles-style production companies”. The big idea in the I.D.E.A district and Makers Quarter, is “to attract workers and companies to the neighborhood, with a focus on creative technology.” Their “idea” isn’t a very good one (cash-flow negative), and is based simply on UCSD’s plans to build satellite campuses for its art department in the area. Brittany and these developers actually describe digital media in their hype, as “a new media” in a “tech-forward neighborhood” while distinguishing painters and sculptors as “more traditional artists”. This bankrupt perception is what really resonated with me. The uncultivated and naive impression of contemporary visual art and artists that is echoed throughout America’s finest soccer city, San Diego.
