What Do I Do Until SM5?
Alright. Here you are. You have finished watching Friday’s livestream, you are all excited for Samurai Warriors 5, you have looked at the calendar ANNNDDD you have now realized we are still several weeks away from the game’s release. So, what do you do now? Well, Today I have come to offer some things to help pass the time until Samurai Warriors 5 is released. I will be offering various games and projects in various genres and platforms that may help either sustain you until SM5 or help build up your hype even more! I have even organized then by genre. I will not be including any other games in the Sengoku Musou series in this list. 1. Pre-Order The Game On Your Platform of Choice: No. Really. Remember to Pre-order the game if you haven’t already. It is great to be hyped but let Koei know that we love this franchise and hunger for it. 2. Mobile Games: If you are in Japan you have so many Sengoku based mobile games to choose from that it is mind blowing. In the west, however, it is a bit tougher. So I am going to suggest two. -Dating: Ikemen Sengoku: If you want historic accuracy this is seriously not the right game for you. It is several famous samurai as very pretty men all wanting to steal your heart and your attention. While some of the events may be a bit of a money grab on the part of the company who runs it the storylines and events are fantastic and the community is amazing. I recommend this highly! -Collection/Card/RPG: Touken Ranbu: For those who haven’t heard the famous Japanese mobile game “Touken Ranbu Online” launches in the west on Tuesday and I am hyped! It is a great game similar to Kantai Collection (Kancolle) or Sengoku Asuka Zero. Famous weapons as cool looking samurai guys! You can pre-register HERE. 3. Portable Games: Now, several of these games are also on Steam, the PS4, and possible even Xbox. However I am going to focus on games on the Vita and Switch. -PSVita: Toukiden, Toukiden Kiwami, Toukiden 2: Also on PS4 and Steam. I love this game so much. Toukiden and it’s upgrade Toukiden Kiwami are by Koei! Think of monster hunter but with a super heavy samurai feel to it! Fight horrible, giant yokai and craft amazing armor and weapons from their flesh! -PSVita: Muramasa The Demon Blade: Also on Wii this game is a fun side scrolling RPG with plenty of hack n’ slash all about leveling up the special weapons you get all with crazy powers and different magic abilities associated with them! -Switch: Fighting Game: Samurai Shodown: The new release/reboot of the classic fighting game series Samurai Shodown has met with great success. Set in the Edo Period you have fighters from all over the world but the game has a very heavy Japanese feel to it with Kabuki based characters, samurai based characters, ninja, priestesses, and all kinds of other unique fighters with their own themes and movesets! 4. Console Games: Games that you can sit down and play on Playstation, Xbox, or Steam. -RPG/Souls Like: Nioh and Nioh 2: I can’t say enough about these games. They are brutal, violent, and wonderful. Feudal Japan is full of Yokai for you to fight and slay your way through. While the story is full of demons, ghosts, and corruption Nioh (focusing on Sekigahara) and Nioh 2 (Focusing on the rise and fall of Toyotomi Hideyoshi) offer great incite in the era and strangely enough have some of the most historicly accurate portrayels I’ve ever seen when it comes to people of the time period. -RPG: Way of the Samurai 3: A unique RPG set in the Sengoku Era. Run around and collect weapons and play a fun, short story with a lot of different endings. -Strategy: Nobunaga’s Ambition Series: A wonderful series. These games take several days worth of play time to beat but they are a great experience for those that like strategy, town planning, and resource management. -Strategy/Military: Total War Shogun 2: If you enjoy samurai and the Sengoku Jidai and resource management but want more exciting combat and a larger focus on combat compared to Nobunaga’s Ambition check out this great came that, in spite of it’s age, is still played by many across the world even today. 5. Youtube and Podcasts: I know this isn’t quite as action packed as anything else I mentioned but for those that want to keep the hype up, brush up on history, and listen to something awesome I have three offerings for you. -Podcast: Samurai Archives: A great podcast hosted by great people who know their stuff. Every episode is focused on something from the Sengoku Era and I can’t recommend it enough. -Podcast: History of Japan: This podcast by Issac Meyer is great. He covers far more than just the Sengoku Era but he covers his topics thoroughly and passionately. He recently did a series of episodes on the Azai Sisters and as a large Azai fan myself I couldn’t help but be thrilled about it. -Youtube: The Shogunate: The Shogunate is a cool dude. He hosts Shogun 2 Total War tournaments and has very informative episodes organized into playlists about the history of the Sengoku Jidai. 6. Roleplay Forums: I’m going to shamelessly plug my own roleplay forum on this list. No one can stop me. For those not familiar with the concept you make your own original character(s) then you and others write a story based on those characters, taking turns to describe what your character is doing in various situation. So you might have a roleplay about your character and another having a dinner conversation, or being in a large fight against an enemy army! It is creative writing at it’s finest and is like D&D but with pen and paper. -Modern Era: Sengoku Horizon: It is a fantastic forum with a very niche theme. In modern times the Tokugawa government and it’s feudal system not got overthrown. Samurai, ninja, and lords still exist! You get to play as a college or high school student at a prestigious academy training the future leaders of Japan and can make a character that carries both a katana and cell phone in this exciting mix of modern life and Sengoku Era concepts.

RPG Horrors and Yume Nikki let’s plays returning!
The past month with let’s plays has mainly be oriented around games that aren’t RPG Maker, my channel originally started out without RPG Maker games and primarily focused on Dynasty Warriors and games around that genre. The past month, three big titles have come out including Berserk, Atelier Firis and Toukiden 2. In these games, I’ve hit a point where story line in Berserk and Toukiden 2 have pretty much ended. So what does that mean?
Yes, rpg horrors and yume nikkis (not yummy nikkis for certain peeps out there! ;) ) will be returning back full time. The problem with mainstream games on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch etc are that they won’t look the part if they’re not seen in the quality that you play them as on screen. The biggest problem living in the sticks (village) is internet upload speed...there just isn’t anything worthwhile to go for without spending unnecessary amounts, with rpg maker games, I can get away with 720p resolution at 30 frames per second without losing any quality, but with PS4 games, 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second is the standard. Anything less will looks like a PS3 game...xD
From that, I have only a few months left at university before I graduate and while I’m at university, the opportunity to upload videos there is better then uploading at home (I DO NOT LIKE THE COUNTRYSIDE FOR PRODUCTIVITY).
It will become a point where if I want to continue uploading PS4 games after leaving University, I would like to start thinking about getting a place of my own to call him rather then being with my parents (at times, they can be really frustrating to get along with, and half the neighborhood have dogs which keep constantly barking, especially in the summer). I love animals, but for the past 10 years or so, I’ve never had a day where I have not heard a bark which may or may not break my hearing.
___
As for rpg horror games and yume nikki fangames, the following are still to be completed regards to let’s plays:
Yume Wo. (All Effects/Events/Endings Video next) Ultra Violet (Part 3 next) Answered Prayers (All Effects/Events/Endings Video next) Lcd Dem (All Effects/Events/Endings Video next) Broken Bottles (Can’t find anything else in regards to effects, events or any endings as far as I have recorded or played outside of recording).
Acrylic (Part 5 next) Red Haze (struggling to find any other endings that the three I’ve found so far). You’ve Been Chosen (a.k.a teaser for FLUX, Morse code knowledge is morse or less none). Corpse Party Steam version (started). OneShot Steam version (started but stuck). Shoujo Kidan (not recording the other ending).
___
About Shoujo Kidan, the horror aspects were there with how the red hazy entity kept being in the way, some of the cutscenes too has very nice effects to them which fits the environment of the game. The lack of story along with illogical puzzles in it though are the main downfalls of the game, try figuring out how to make Purple as a color, knowing logically it is an equal amount of Red and Blue mixed together...but the game itself would say Yellow and Pink, that sort of illogicality.
From there, a let’s play of Shoujo Gidan which is another game made by lolrust is possible despite saying at the end of my previous let’s play that I had no intentions on doing so, if I get the idea that the same illogicality is in this game I’m not uploading it.
I loved their yume nikki fangame .flow, but Shoujo Kidan has the same quality of horror and at the same time the same quality of story as .flow.
___
Red Haze by AestheticGamer, I am struggling to find any more endings besides the few that I have put up so far, the guy that chases you around is the main ordeal here. If you are caught by him, every ending other than two possible ones are cut off automatically. There is a Steam post I’ve seen with a walkthrough on how to get the publicly released endings so far, for me however the guide in itself is very rough with no real direction towards it.
___
Acrylic by WickedHardcorg has been a bane to me for a long time since October, and without the recently discovered guide on rpgmaker.net by the developers, I’d still be stuck on the second floor.
___
Lcd Dem by Koronba, effects are super hard to acquire without getting the initial few effects that are available for you to get. I feel that certain abilities are out of reach for the player to start off with unless you need to use abilities to access otherwise inaccessible areas, to that point those areas could hold abilities.
___
Answered Prayers by Klaufir, at first I struggled to find the means to save the game without exiting the spirit world (until I realised one needed to wake up by pressing “9″ to wake up). Proceeding really well, found all prayers and some events, next video will be the final one where I’m going to collect all abilities, witness all events/endings possible in the game.
___
Ultra Violet by gozo-ropp, returning with Part 3 of my let’s play shortly, felt most comfortable doing a let’s play on this fangame so far as this one abilities are in places I can comfortably reach.
___
Yume Wo. by SDS and RAHU. Proceeding really well, found most abilities and some events, next video will be the final one where I’m going to collect all abilities, witness all events/endings possible in the game.
___
Corpse Party on Steam I haven’t had time for another 1 hour video for the game, I anticipate this version of Corpse Party is going to be incredibly long hence why I’m making these videos 1 hour rather than 30-40 minutes which is where I aim for a let’s play video.
___
OneShot on Steam I’ve had a difficult time proceeding forward with the story, I’m running around the first area of the game (not the house) like a headless chicken to find something that proceeds the story/game forward.
___
You’ve Been Chosen by Rindre. Morse code along with the enemy NPC constantly killing me, has been a thorn to me when it comes to proceeding and finishing the teaser to FLUX.
___
___
People say that certain codes, riddles, puzzles, mysteries etc are much easier to solve then what I’m making them out to be, but remember not everyone can solve things like them as easily as you can. Give the benefit of the doubt and refrain from saying stuff like “this is easy”, or “that puzzle is simple”, or “this riddle is no problem to solve”. I love solving puzzles, but I get agitated and puts me off a game where their puzzles/riddles are too complex, especially ones with absolute illogicality (Akemi-Tan, Pilgrim, Sukutte, Shoujo Kidan).
___
That’s all for now on this Flare report, signing out and as always, have a wonderful day! ^O^ (No more of these updates for a while!)

Pros: the game is finally starting to get difficult, took all the way to chapter 3 but I'm finally getting murked by bosses in one or two hits, and actually got a game over earlier
Cons: wow the game story really is gonna be about how both the immigrants and the xenophobe groups of the village have an equal point and both are in the wrong despite the game showing multiple times how the outsiders live in poverty and aren't protected by the magical barrier that keeps monsters away from town, and that they both should put their prejudice aside to work together huh
#gui plays toukiden 2#also yes game over! you actually die in this if you lose a quest or get defeated in the field LOL#that's really funny after how cheap getting destroyed in monhun is#i hate to say it but#high key rwby vibes from the story

Eh I think I'm done binging toukiden 2, unfortunately the mitama drop rate kinda killed my momentum 😔 I'll keep the game installed while I still have ps+ active, to go back to from time to time, but the giant autistic binging is over
#gui plays toukiden 2#honestly if they hadn't split the mitama between low and high rank it wouldn't be an issue#especially if i could get low rank mitama on high rank#but the fact that they're mutually exclusive would mean i would have to halt progress completely to farm the low rank ones#alas#hopefully i can come back to binging this in the future

Oh no now that I'm trying to actually get all the mitamas in the game, I'm realizing the drop rates are a lot lower than I had hoped for :/ even with the drop rate boost it's still low enough to be an annoyance

One thing that actually surprised me in this game is that, while in monhun I tend to focus a lot more on elemental damage, in this game I've been getting a low more mileage out of high attack + affinity weapons instead 👀 honestly the elemental weapons sacrifice so much raw and critical damage for mediocre elemental values that most of the times I've just been finding more worthwhile to just run raw weapons instead
#gui plays toukiden 2#also a surprising amount of onis either have no elemental weakness or actively resist all elemental damage#so shrug#there's no sharpness for melee weapons in this so there's no downsides either to just running high raw + crit damage weapons

I was gonna stop playing after I beat the story but honestly I'm enjoying the game enough, I'll continue playing through high rank until I get tired, I still got two months of ps+ so there's no need to rush things, and if I can't play the games I enjoy then what's the point of this whole thing
#gui plays toukiden 2#this isn't even a super amzing game thing or anything#like a 7/10#competent and well made but nothing huge to write home about#and yet idk i like it enough to stick around it with for a while#who knows maybe i'll even find my hat-

Ah, ruins exploration is nowhere near as fun or unique I was hoping for 😫 it's just a boss rush dressed up as a dungeon, a shame
#gui plays toukiden 2#first big disappointment in this game if you don't count the lack of kasa hats#especially since i'm assuming this is the kinda thing where you have to do these to get endgame materials#and considering this has unique bosses if i want to farm them i'll have to do multiple runs of the same boss rush over and over#this is annoying

Assuming this game has a high rank/online exclusive quests like monhun, I'll likely just beat the single player story for now 😤👏 so I can continue trying out ps+ games, and I'll resume playing the other content later on
#gui plays toukiden 2#monhun games are CHONKY#depending on how chonky this one is i'll likely end up spending the remainder of my ps+ time in this alone#assuming i can grab this on discount this might be one of the games i actually but#buy*#based on the achievements I don't think this has a g-rank and there's no dlc for it so i'm assuming it only goes up to high rank#i Think i saw that the first game got an 'ultimate' like updated version so maybe this might get a g-rank update later on too#...tho also this game is old af so maybe not#i should start playing ghost of tsushima so I don't get called out for voters fraud on my last poll

Another thing I'm finding annoying is that the monsters on free roam don't immediately respawn if you go back to the village :/ some small monsters and a few bosses aren't showing up on quests, and that combined with the fact their drops are random, it means you might be waiting for a while until you can get the items you need for your gear
#gui plays toukiden 2#i understand if you don't wanna respawn bosses since they sometimes act as roadblocks#so killing them gives the player some leeway in terms of exploration and all that#but small monsters shouldn't stay deas#dead*#especially since some of them only spawn in very specific areas and that's it

Goddamn, finally found a mission I'll have to leave for later 😔😭 there's a mission with a 10 minutes time limit with a boss that's both extreme tanky and agile, plus you can only attack its legs since the rest of the body is super up high and the legs are constantly stomping around causing damage and knockdown
#gui plays toukiden 2#it's a creative boss tbf#i feel like it might be a subspecies because you fight that boss in other missions and it fights in a completely different manner#but this form is way harder combined with the limited amount of time you have lol#even with a weapon with elemental advantage i can't deal enough damage to it#it doesn't help that the small monsters are extremely annoying and attack from a distance AND your allies don't focus on the boss until#all the small monsters are dead

Ok real criticism time, but I reaaaaally hate how the game locks you into story missions once you progress the plot enough :/ you lose access to the mission hub and you're locked into using a certain party until you beat a story boss or explore a new area enough
I don't mind that they did this, but it's really infuriating when you want to farm materials to upgrade your gear or do sidequests and, because you talked to one too many npcs and the game gave you no indication that you were walking into a story mission, you're kinda fucked and unable to go back to farm unless you reload an auto save before the point of no return
And when you combine that with the fact that there's actual game overs in this game and you can't just return to town and farm until you're stronger, it really feels unecessarily unfair

Damn, defeated some Briareus wannabe, and goddamn this game is getting mean LOL the fights are getting pretty long and rough, and the strict access to healing is becoming more and more of an issue, this is a welcome surprise for a game where at the start my main complaint was that the game was too easy and your allies did everything for you 🤣
#gui plays toukiden 2#i'm getting pretty invested in this monhun clone and i was not ready for this send help
