What if I tell you the only time Eurylochus was on the wrong was in Keep your friends close?

In full speed ahead he was the first to realise they needed to stop to get food because they had SIX HUNDRED MEN TO FEED, it wasn’t the amount of food you can simply go and ask some island people for, so they had to raid the island (they just got out of a war where they killed thousands of people, it wasn’t a really crazy idea)

In luck runs out when Eurylochus approached Odysseus he was ready to go to that island and he stop him on the spot like any other person would, and he had really good arguments about WHY GOING TO SOME GOD ISLAND (island you threw harpoons at btw. If it were any other god you would’ve been smited just for that) was a really bad idea. Odysseus just gave a SHIT argument and ignored him, so he had to keep talking. Maybe he didn’t thought about how the crew listening would affect their trust in the captain, but at that point who really cares? If you go to that island maybe there will be no captain to not trust or even no crew. Or maybe he didn’t thought the crew would be eavesdropping.

HE NEVER PLANNED ON THE CREW LISTENING TO THEIR CONVERSATION. IT WASNT HIS INTENTION FOR THE CREW TO REALISE THAT THE CAPTAIN WAS BATSHIT CRAZY AND HAD POOR SURVIVAL INSTINCTS.

Also, when Odysseus took him away to talk HE NEVER EASED EURYLOCHUS WORRIES. He told him to just listen to his orders and shut the fuck up, thing that came to bite him in the ass when years after years of shutting his mouth up Eurylochus couldn’t just hide how much the Captain’s choices were affecting the crew.

I ALSO HATE when people gives the argument of “just listen to the captain” or him going against the captain in every move.

ODYSSEUS WASNT RIGHT IN MOST OF HIS MOVES. He always left the fight just because he was resourceful (by straight up divine intervention) but that doesn’t mean the plans were good. Also what would you do in his position? Your captain is telling you the most batshit crazy idea you’ve ever heard that will possibly get your whole crew or himself killed and he doesn’t even want to listen to your opinion (His SECOND IN COMAND i remind you)

“Oh but he wanted to leave the crew with Circe” Circe was a goddess who did not care about the crew when she turned them into pigs. The idea of trying to talk her out of that was crazy and Odysseus only won that fight because of Hermes’ help. He accepted the fate that was given and tried to escape with the remaining crew before Circe did something to them too. It was the only logical choice.

Mutiny is the song that made me realise that Eurylochus wasn’t really the bad guy y’all paint him to be.

Odysseus (as usual) didn’t communicate his plan to Eurylochus and then he found out that the sacrifice of 6 of the men he tried so hard to protect was alway on the plan. If something like that happened in modern day all of you would go crazy just like he did. In his mind Odysseus was nothing more than a monster who cared more about going home to his wife than the lives of 6 men who also had wives and children to go to.

He even gave him the chance to explain himself, for god’s sake, and Odysseus only said I CANT ????? He even got out of his way to bandage him and KEEP HIM ALIVE after what was a horrible betrayal.

The cow incident is controversial but just look into it from his perspective.

They’re not going home either way. If they don’t kill those cows they are going to die slowly and painfully from starvation on their way home

Ody has done crazier things and he always came out victorious, why would this go wrong?

Also, i fully think the people that heard the lines “How much longer must I suffer now? How much longer must I push through doubt? How much longer must I go about like this when people die like this?” and still think Eurylochus is the villain, hasn’t listened to Epic the musical at all.

Opening the wind bag was stupid? Yes. Just as stupid as not killing the cyclops and giving your name and address to him, going against the orders of the literal GODDESS OF WISDOM, trusting some little drugged things to tell you were to find food, throwing harpoons at a god’s home, playing along into said gods name, NEVER REALLY TELLING YOUR SECOND IN COMMAND (WHO YOU KNOW IS STARTING TO DOUBT YOUR ACTIONS) THE WHOLE STORY, trying to talk a goddess into set free your men immediately after that instead of trying to keep alive the men you have left, trusting that goddess to send you and the crew she just turned into pigs to the LITERAL UNDERWORLD, sacrificing 6 men without telling your second in command or ANY OF THE MEN YOU WERE SACRIFICING beforehand and telling your men to suck it up and stay hungry until they reach home in who knows how much long.

Odysseus kept his plans close to his chest and expected Eurylochus and the crew to follow him blindly and without a word of protest.

Odysseus talked more about the crew that died that he didn’t focused enough on the crew he STILL HAD.

The only difference is that we had an explanation of why Odysseus does what he does, Eurylochus doesn’t.

MORE ABOUT HERMES AND SUNNY!! And also them during the Circe Saga ksnsnsns

Circe Saga:

Sunny is still pretty much in shock and also kind of scared considering she literally just—I dunno, almost got taken by Poseidon before Odysseus decided it'd be funny to use the wind bag. But she ends up on Circe's Island with the crew and Odysseus anyway, and when they get onto there, she's just kind of looking around in mild amazement at the beauty of the island, but she's also quiet and is in shock thinking about what happened.

She ends up probably talking with Ody since he's just worried about her (dad instincts), and after checking in, he does notice that she seems like she's taking a lot of shit in. So he tells her to maybe go sit down somewhere while the crew takes care of things, which she listens to and decides to just sit on some nearby boulder. Ody goes to look around at the island some more, or he just goes to sit near her—but something distracts him so he briefly leaves.

That ends up being when Sunny encounters Hermes though. After hearing a shit load of giggling, she looks up—only to see Hermes floating right in front of her. Afraid, she flinches and nearly falls off the boulder, and quickly recognizes him as a deity judging by his appearance. Though he either giggles at her nearly falling off or tries reassuring her that he's not there to hurt her. He catches her before she can fall by the way. And then after laughing when she awkwardly says hi or stammers, he pulls her into a hug and asks if she's alright. Sunny awkwardly nods, Hermes is like 'good' and hugs her for a few more seconds before she's like 'yo dawg who are you' (aka she just awkwardly asks who he is or if she knows him). And Hermes gives some vague answer that's basically just him introducing himself. And after that, Sunny asks him why he's here. To which he responds by saying he's basically been kinda witnessing what she's been through (and not so subtly implies he was helping her) and also that he knows she isn't supposed to be here, so he'll help her get back home. He nearly gets her to come with him, but Ody shows up—doesn't recognize Hermes for some reason cuz of the distance he's at and comes full sprinting at Hemres which causes him to vanish momentarily. Or Hermes vanishes the moment Ody shows back up. Leaving Sunny dissapointed and frustrated since she just wants to get home.

Eurlyochus shows back up though—tells Ody what happened, which causes Ody to be like 'lol ill go get em you watch Sunny for me teehee'.

And.. I can't decide if Sunny should straight up go follow Ody in secret against his orders so there'd be more drama? Maybe in this she sneaks off at some point and tried to get in but the nymphs or Circe kick her out. But I think it'd make more sense if she just stayed with Eurylochus jdnsns. But that ends up being the point where Hermes starts to follow Sunny in secret./lh

Other Facts about Hermes & Sunny:

1. Hermes has the ability to make people very drowsy or feel at peace to the point of sleeping, and he often uses this on Sunny when he thinks she needs rest. Or he sometimes just holds her if she's struggling to fall asleep.

2. Hermes has healed Sunny several times in the past when she was injured.

3. Hermes always was following Sunny around in her current time and kinda secretly looking after her. But she never knew he was actually there and thought her brain created some imaginary friend.

4. Sunny is actually touch-starved, which is probably why Hermes is so clingy/affectionate with her, but also just because that's how bro is lmao.

5. Hermes has helped Sunny on her school work before.

6. Hermes is less effected by the idea of her going home because he's a God and time moves differently for him so it'll just be like seeing her again after a few days while she's on Vacation. Ody and the crew are only effected by it because time is normal for them and they've also just grown very attached to her and like taking care of her.

7. I feel like if he did make a safe haven for her, it'd be funny if there were shit tons of books in there for her to read or just things from different medias she likes. And also drawing supplies./lh

13. Sunny is often made to act mature or take care of things back at her home—so she rarely gets to act like a kid. But being treated like one by everyone (especially by Hermes) makes her happy, so Hermes' treatment makes Sunny comfortable enough to not force herself to act mature.

14. Apollo and Aphrodite were around for Sunny for just as long as Hermes has been—and Dionysus was also around for Sunny, though he has less focus since he's not technically in the musical.

15. I'd want there to be a Sunny and Hermes duet cuz it'd be cute hehshshs.
