Just looking at pictures of Lando from media day and the joy I feel over the progression of his facial hair needs to be studied. Perfectly groomed mustache + goatee combo plus we have visible connection between soul patch and goatee. Ugh he’s come so far

literally he looks so good!!! he's always been a bit of a late bloomer yk i get why people were so attached to how he looked back in peak twinkery, but it's been years and imho he's pokemon evolved into the next phase of adult man, and it's great!! tbh his next evolution will probably be having a full beard like his dad, maybe by the time he's in his 30s haha and i for one am here for it

What about Tory's pokemon?
ahh!! i gave tory a torchic that eventually goes down the evolutionary line to become a blaziken — partially because torchic is one of my favorite starters, and the mega evolution form just looks absolutely SICK. it’s a kicker of a pokemon that fits her and the fire type theming im going for with the cobras; i would also assign her a stay at home chansey to help her with her mom, and also because she seriously just deserves a big pink friend to hug. :-(
#tory nichols#pokemon au#asks#keep em coming! i love pondering these things hehe#i also dont like assigning full teams like. i dont see them as battle partners but rather fun little companions#so i dont think in standards of like. conventional pokemon battling#kwon also has a fully evolved fire starter by coincidence with the scorbunny evo line! take that the way you will haha

hihihi this came to me in a vision
do you think that after litwick evolves into a chandelure when ingo’s an adult her sass becomes a protective sass
like ingo stays up late doing paperwork and she’s like “you better go to sleep or i’ll nibble on your soul until it makes you” type of way
ps i love how you draw them and characterize them i spin them in my brain like theyre in the microwave

Yes!! Chandelure’s a ghost pokemon, which means they get… funny over time. (Personal headcannon— ghost pokemon are not meant to stay in the living world for long. They usually disperse and fade over a few years— but ghost pokemon with a focus, either that be a trainer or place, can last for decades.)
Chandelure’s heavily bonded to ingo (and by extension, emmet). This means she has full access to a variety of truly sick roasts. (Unfortunately for her, ingo at this point has fully matured into a sarcastic shithead. The two stand on equal ground haha.)

And can’t forget Emmet and Eelektross! The two spoil each other.
This takes place probably during their first few years as Subway Masters, where there’s a huge overhaul of the tunnel system (I like to imagine the subway tunnels of Nimbasa get… twisty, space wise. Their first few months are spent literally just clearing out the ghost pokemon and rerouting trains to avoid traffic.)

Good thing the twins have their trusty starters to keep things moving. Here for my submas masterpost!

Charlie, are there any new evolutions you'd be particularly excited to see discovered? My youngest is obsessed with Lapras, and when I explained why they wouldn't make a good pet in our 3rd floor apartment, she just said she'd wait for a pre-evolution to be discovered, haha!
i'd be really interested in seeing evolutions for single-stage bug pokemon being discovered- pokemon like heracross and durant. so many bug type pokemon evolve as a necessary part of their life cycle, which is different to how the vast majority of pokemon handle evolution! so it really intrigues me that there's such a difference in how these pokemon develop. i think it would help us understand why some bug pokemon develop into their adult form without evolving while others have to evolve. after all, heracross start out as funky little grubs...but their growth into adult form involves metamorphosis without evolution. meanwhile, orbeetle has to experience two evolutions to reach its adult form! we have some theories as to what the advantage of having two different developmental systems within the same phylum is, but it'd be nice to have more data to look at.

Finding Your Roots- Chapter 12, Page 85
It took seven years but we made it, hahaha... What a bittersweet milestone. The first proper catch of my 2018 Omega Ruby earthlocke run, Shelly was... not, the kind of pokemon who impressed. I was p excited to catch nincada since Omega Ruby's early game was so sparse on earthens. Caught on Route 116, she joined Cedar's party just after she defeated Roxanne's gym and evolved. From there... while Shelly did eventually catch up to Cedar in levels, she never quite caught up to ANYONE in terms of, uh. Usefulness. I got her to participate in a couple of battles, such as the Wally fight in Mauville, but even when she had the type advantage, I usually just ended up having to switch her out and get someone stronger in like Cedar or Nauki fjkghjdsfghjdfkg. She did not actually fight Flannery, that was comic only. When I hit the desert/mountain region and started catching new pokemon, I actually tried to box her more than once. I replaced her with Ember and Copper... and then Copper died. Shelly's back in. Threw Lockheed in to replace Shelly once again. Then Ember died. You see the pattern?? Every time I tried to box Shelly safely away, a spot on the party would open up, and I rathered she at least be there instead of just an empty slot. I felt it was safer. And ultimately... it was. It happened in Jagged Pass, same as in the comic. But instead of Deoxys threatening me with a party wipe, it was a uhhhh belly-drumming hariyama HAHA. I'm p sure in the party, it was Cedar, Shelly, Nauki, Brawler, Lockheed, and Eclipse. Copper and Ember were both dead at this point, Tuffy had yet to be caught (a lot of stuff happens out of order in this latest arc). I threw out Cedar against the hariyama, aaaand... Same as Brendan lol. Oneshot. So obviously at this point I was FUCKING TERRIFIED cause if Cedar couldn't do it, I was unconvinced anyone else could. So I. Did something kinda evil fjkghjdfg. I threw in Shelly. And on the turn she died (OHKO obvs), I used a revive (the item) on Cedar. Cedar and Nauki got us out of that fight after that iirc... But another revive was used, and Shelly went off to the Grave box. We made it out of having a full team wipe, but only because of that sacrifice. Soooo, what about the comic? Well, it was a difficult thing. FYR is ultimately a practice in tone management, but the first catch dying partway through the run? That was a tough one to juggle. Because FYR started out with a highly positive tone, a lot of readers early on did not expect much from this comic emotions-wise. On top of that, some people in the nuzlocke community were giving me a hard time for wanting to tackle serious topics with a cutesy art style. So in the early days, thinking about Shelly's upcoming death usually made me panic haha;;; kjfghkjdfg. I didn't want people to get angry or accuse me of tricking them. Hence I spent. A LOT of time thinking about how this one was gonna play out haha. Shelly's death being a sacrifice was important to me. Without it, we probably would have not made it through this run, guys. I wanted her to save Cedar specifically, to represent how her sacrifice allowed Cedar to live and continue to carry her team through the run. On top of that, I wanted her death to really mean something. It was going to be a major turning point in the run: the comic from here on out is very different from everything that's come before. Even though hardly anyone expected Shelly to make it through, I wanted everyone to grieve her as much as I was inevitably going to. I wanted this moment to matter. So, I buckled down. Book 2 became the Shelly book, and I set out to write her a character arc that kicked into gear at its very beginning and concluded with its climax. This book was very intentionally designed for Shelly's arc. It starts with some major lows as I presented her flaws and what she's dealing with. I threw her challenge after challenge, knowing she would fail to rise to them. Anxious, depressed, and convinced of her weakness, Shelly was not always the sort of girl who would jump motherfucking Deoxys. For a while, some readers actually couldn't stand her, and a lot of folks thought I'd write her out in Chapter 8, signifying her failure to improve or live up to her team. Instead, through the power of Cedar's friendship and kindness, Shelly realized that if she didn't owe it to herself to try and become stronger, she at least owed it to Cedar. She went from holding a lot of resentment towards Cedar, to becoming her self-declared best friend. They grew closer, Shelly grew stronger. In the end, she defeated Flame and paved the way for Team Hearth to take on Team Magma, drawing her strength through the power of connection. After all, friendship and family... its everything. Shelly did not make it very far past that initial win. She was never going to, I knew exactly what point in the story she died. Shelly's death here is both a character arc completed and a character arc forever unfinished. If Deoxys hadn't killed her, who knows how much farther she could've gone? How much stronger she would've become? Those questions will remain forever unanswered... But I think it would be a lie to say that nothing of note here was accomplished. She DID grow. She DID become stronger. And that strength gave her the power to save the life of her best friend. It just, unfortunately, could only come to pass through her death. If Shelly had never gone on her arc, if Cedar had never reached out to her again and again... Cedar would have DIED here. Think about that. Shelly was never the readerbase's favorite character, haha. She's been called obnoxious, toxic, racist; it died down in the last few chapters, but folks were once QUITE VOCAL about their dislike of her haha. Which is fine, of course, I was out to prove a point anyway and she did use to act pretty rotten sometimes. But I have such a soft spot for characters like Shelly, honestly. I originally started this comic to work through a racial identity crisis I was having like many years ago, and Shelly ended up getting handed a lot of my darkest and ugliest feelings at the time. She is a misanthrope, she feels targeted by a racist world and it makes her angry, depressed, prone to lashing out, and... that was me. For many years. That's actually why it hurt when people first started to dunk on her (back in Chapter 4). I was probably more defensive of her in the comments than I should've been, but my friend Zero eventually taught me how to calm down on that front. I watched negative comments pour in about her in Chapters 7 and 8, nothing ever outright cruel but definitely somewhat devoid of empathy for her. I let them all pass, tried not to take it too personal cause I knew I had a good chance to change a lot of people's minds in her final chapters. And again, no one is ever obligated to like any of my characters, I know how they can be lol. But she was always one of my more personal characters in this comic. Her arc of challenging her anxiety is something I have seen so many loved ones work through over the years... That part of her, at least, is a love letter to all my anxious friends and family. And her bitterness, her anger... A love letter to one of the most difficult parts of myself. I don't think Shelly ever completely overcame that anger. I think she probably died hating elementals, and every other race along with them. But she was able to overcome that seething hatred to become a good friend and positive asset to Cedar and the rest of her team. She hated the world and all the pokemon within it, but still became part of a family that accepted her. That means something to me... I hope it means something to you, too. Shelly will forever live on in my heart as a personal symbol of racial justice. That is what she means to me, ultimately. Thank you so much for showering her with love over the years and tolerating her bullshit haha. I know this was not the easiest character to love, but a lot of folks really opened their hearts to her. I appreciate that immensely, I really do. Goodnight, little hero. We love you, loved you, and we always will. Rest in power.
--- In honor of the pokemon we lost, the rest of June will be a moment of silence. No further pages will be posted this month. All the comics are back proper in July. See you there!

Hi recently i read ur fic "bat tunnels" and you mentioned you have thoughts but not enough to write more, and that readers are (and i quote) "free to poke me about it on my tumblr tho!"
i would like to hear the thoughts
Bat tunnels!! This is actually just one of the Many fics I have with Ingo turning into some sort of Pokémon- and by far the shortest haha. Even if that's only because I wasn’t sure how to handle the subsequent events. I have a Lot of fics I’m chipping away at atm
(This turned into a bit more of a ramble than I was expecting. Whoops.)
Anyway- big thing I wasn’t sure how to explain was why Ingo is a pokemon in the first place. Arceus knew that humans can’t travel through time and space very well, and Arceus didn’t want him to like. Forget everything a second time. But Pokémon are notably more hardy! So, turning Ingo into a Gliscor seemed like the best solution.
It’s temporary but 'temporary' for a human and 'temporary' for a being that has lived since before time is Very Different (and maybe Arceus thinks being a Pokémon for a bit isn’t to bad)
Also, re the alpha status: being an alpha has more to do with being particularly experienced in battle/ a will to protect. so.
Arceus just thought “Oh, natural law says you would have become an alpha.” and thus Ingo was made into an alpha.
Alphas aren’t exactly born, though having a parent that is an alpha can increase the chances of becoming one. Just because being surrounded / raised by a really good / experienced fighter is a huge advantage.
Ingo beats up kids for fun on the battle subway and is completely merciless in the paths of solitude. He is a Very experienced fighter in the technical sense, even if for a bit he struggles to harness that power.
In that sense, Emmet was pretty spot on with assuming Ingo was a Gligar that evolved too soon. Not that Ingo actually evolved per se, but his situation is very much like giving a level 5 gligar 95 rare candies and a razor fang. Also he’s still getting used to his body.
(For the record, yes he knows earthquake.)
On that note, Ingo probably. Would not be able to battle on the subway. Not without it being a very strong opponent. With his lack of skill, he has absolutely No Idea how to pull his punches. Also Emmet would feel verrrry uncomfortable putting him in a pokeball- Ingo feels similarly.
Ingo’s gliscor might enjoy it after being tested and vaccinated though haha. Tho they might be busy assisting Ingo with being gliscor shaped himself. Especially when Ingo immediately tried to get back to work- not on the lines but administrative work. Unfortunately holding a pen is rather hard with pincers- and even harder when he struggles to adjust his grip strength.
The carnage is vast. Many good pens were lost under the claws of a very embarrassed ingo. (Emmet appreciates the effort)
It is temporary though and he will be back to normal eventually. Emmet just has to be very careful about not mentioning that the weirdly large gliscor that followed him out of the tunnels is his brother. His reputation already took a hit after his brother’s initial disappearance- he doesn’t need them questioning his mental health about something he can’t prove.
(Thankfully Ingo wants to stick by Emmet's side while he’s still in the shape of a gliscor- so usually it’s other people asking about him and Emmet just pointing or saying “this one” when referring to him. Ingo gets the nickname “Boss” for a bit! Both Ingo and Emmet find it funny.)
once he’s human again Ingo still has a few habits left over- he looks exactly the same as he once did though. His hearing is better (back to normal human levels without the hearing loss he got working with heavy machinery) and he has a tendency to hiss/chirp to convey things. The last one there is actually just something he picked up after living alone in the mountains with a bunch of cat weasel things. His body language and movements are a bit off for a while, because he Just got used to dealing with a tail and wings and now he has to go back to human arms and legs.
Overall things generally just. Go back to normal after a period of adjustment. Ingo and Emmet get to keep running the battle subway and gliscor is sometimes featured on the super singles line.
That’s… all I can think of right now! Absolutely feel free to ask more specific questions!

Just out of curiosity, what are your Gen 5 headcanons?
(Also I LOVE your transfem Ingo hc)
YAY OMG haha ty for askinggg (twirls hair) here's a collection...
Hilda and Hilbert are twins! Both their starters were oshawotts, Hilbert got a shiny and Hilda's eventually evolved into its Hisuian form. They were 16 during BW1.
Hilda considers herself a realist and Hilbert fancies himself an optimist.
After Team Plasma was originally defeated, Hilda and Hilbert began travelling around the world with N before Team Neo Plasma showed up and they went back home.
N is basically the twins' mom's third child.
Rosa was a Team Plasma grunt during BW1. Her older sister dragged Rosa into it after their dad used his pokemon to hurt them, believing humans would be better off without pokemon.
Rosa's snivy used to be Cheren's snivy.
Nate is hard of hearing.
Nate used to be really passive before finding the courage to stop letting people walk all over him during his gym challenge. His starter was tepig.
Iris is still champion, but Nate has come the closest to defeating her on several occasions.
Hugh eventually opens a pokemon shelter to help abused or otherwise undesirable pokemon (such as those with injuries and illnesses) recover and be released into the wild or find new homes. Anthea works there.
Concordia becomes a pokemon ranger.
N is the hero of truth and Iris is the hero of ideals. They don't meet until after BW2, but they click immediatly as soon as they do.
Rosa and Iris have been best friends since BW1, and Iris considers Nate her biggest rival.
After Bianca becomes a professor, Rosa becomes her assistant.
The Striaton trio eventually split up. Chili opens a restaurant in Virbank City, Cress takes over the Humilau City gym, and Cilan begins travelling to different battle facilities to grow stronger.
Roxie, Burgh, and Elesa have collaborated both in art and as gym leaders before.
Elesa is a lesbian and was outted pretty early on in her career as a gym leader. She decided to own it. She handled it so well some people still think it was a publicity stunt.
Compared to the media frenzy that occurred when Elesa was outted, nobody really cared when Burgh came out as bisexuality. Possibly because nobody was surprised.
Sonia has admired Professor Juniper's work for a long time. When Juniper reached out to Sonia to ask about her own research, Sonia almost passed out.
Ingo is a trans woman but she doesn't realize this and start going by Myrtle until the Hisui thing.
Lenora trained Cheren to be a gym leader. She tutored the Striaton trio, too. All four of them separately keep in contact with her as much as they can.
For their honeymoon, Lenora and her husband went to Lumiose City. After effectively taking over for a tour guide at the Lumiose Museum, they tried to hire her on the spot.
Shauntal helped Brycen write an autobiography.
Grusha and Brycen are pen-pals.
Since going back to acting, Brycen has remained closest with Elesa of his ex-coworkers.
Before Grimsley quit, the Unova elite four went out drinking together exactly once. Marshal and Grimsley ended up getting drunk and Marshal accidentally fractured Grimsley's wrist when he challenged him to an arm-wrestling match.
Grimsley has been in and out of rehab a few times.
Caitlin has several times burnt instant ramen by forgetting to put water in it before microwaving it.
League challengers will often find Shauntal missing from her room or with another elite four member. She likes changing up her location depending on the atmosphere of what she's writing.
Marshal is a huge tea person. He's got a giant collection.
Alder was champion for over twenty years before N beat him.
Drayden used to dread April Fool's day due to his grandchildren but ever since Alder pointed out Drayden could also play pranks it became Iris and Drayton who live in fear.
Burgh's favorite food is fried chicken. He is a fried chicken fiend. Nobody ever asks what he wants for dinner anymore because the answer is always the same.
Roxie and her dad are avid soap opera watchers. It's their favorite rainy day activity together.
Clay once tried to teach Skyla to drive a car and ever since Elesa and Burgh have been very careful not to clue Clay into the fact that they don't know how to drive, either.
During that party where Nemona met Lacey and challenged Clay, he actually did battle her. After she beat him, he mailed her his gym badge.
A lot of Clay's family still lives in Sinnoh, so he visits frequently. He loves the Sinnoh Underground and knows Roark and Byron well.
Bianca is lactose intolerant, but it will be a cold day in hell before she ever stops eating cheese, her favorite food.
Outside of her champion team, Iris is training an emolga and an excadrill, something Clay and Elesa are incredibly excited (and smug) about.
Elesa used to play soccer as a kid and is still a huge fan of the sport. Skyla also used to play, but is nowhere near as crazy about it as Elesa is.
Gladion and Professor Juniper got in contact to discuss the similarities between type: null and genesect. She dragged N into it and the two of them were pretty vital to helping Gladion figure out what to do with Aether Paradise after the mess Lusamine left it in. Gladion really looks up to them both.
N has befriended quite a few ultra beasts who can't return home through Gladion and Aether Paradise.
Brycen met Diantha before she became champion through their acting careers. She once gifted him an amaura egg.
Alder visits Cheren's gym often.
Piers is a fan of Roxie's music.
Colress has an ex-husband in Castelia City.
Lacey's birthday party is always a huge affair and one of the only places you can count on to find the entire Unova league, including retired members, outside of work.
When they hang out, Roxie and Marlon consider each other the annoying younger sibling of their dynamic.
A frillish almost drowned Marlon once, which is a story he will gleefully tell anybody upon five minutes of meeting them. That frillish is now his jellicent.
Skyla once got sued over her gym puzzle.
N, Anthea, and Concordia tried really hard to track down the Shadow Triad after BW2 to convince them to ditch Ghetsis, but they hid themselves too well.
Colress went to Area Zero and met the AI professor before the time machine was shut down. He pocketed a few paradox pokemon for his troubles.
Lenora treated Cynthia to a battle and a private tour of her museum when she visited Unova in BW1 and the two had a giant nerd fest together. Steven made Cynthia promise to bring him next time she visited- and she did, during the Pokemon World Tournament.
The purloin N uses in his first battle in BW1 is the same one Hugh spends BW2 looking for. The Shadow Triad lent it to him.
Bianca once tried to study the Abyssal Ruins but after realizing there was something down there with her she decided some things are better left alone. The stranger with the togekiss who was a little too interested in the plates Bianca had found also didn't help.
Hilda and Hilbert knew Rosa before BW2, but they didn't become close with her and Nate until afterwards.
The twins scoff at Rosa and Nate when they hear about their dates with Yancy and Curtis. They will never have half of what N had on that ferris wheel. Rosa and Nate think Hilda and Hilbert are annoying as hell.
The Nacrene City Museum is Amarys's favorite place in the whole world. She likes to use the art there as inspiration for her own paintings. She's been given free access to the library, too.
Amarys admires Burgh's artwork a lot, as well, but his gym is too full of bad textures for her autistic ass to justify going there again after getting his badge.
Drayton isn't sure if he has a crush on Clay or wants him to be his dad, but Lacey wants him dead for it either way.
The BBA League once went on a field trip to the Gear Station Battle Subway. They had to cut their visit short due to Crispin's motion sickness. Amarys is still pissed at Crispin for that. From their brief meeting, Emmet thinks Kieran is the funniest person on the planet. The club spent the rest of the day dressing up their pokemon in the Musical Theater, which Lacey especially loved. This was Florian and Juliana's first time in Unova.
The favor of Victini is easily earned through giving them apple slices. Not whole apples, those are too hard to eat.
Zekrom cares for Kyurem. Reshiram does not.
Zekrom is an incredibly picky water. He will know if you are trying to feed him off-brand pokepuffs and he will find a new hero over it.
Rosa hasn't caught Kyurem, but Rosa often visits her cave to make sure nobody is bothering her and just to spend time together. They're close friends.
Nate is buddies with Keldo! Nate hasn't caught him since Keldeo is with the Swords of Justice, but whenever Keldeo is in town he finds Nate to have a battle.
Thundurus once approached Hilda during a storm and scared her so badly she instincitvely chucked her and Hilbert's only master ball at him. Tornados, Landorus, and Enamorus will never let him live this down, but Thundurus came to really enjoy travelling with N and the twins.
Hilda and Hilbert lost a shiny pokemon due to not having any pokeballs shortly after this
Hilbert once tried to hit Reshiram with the "this statement is false" paradox and Reshiram actually tried to bite his head off.
Reshiram and Zekrom are both incredibly stubborn. Only the will of their heroes may sway their hearts. Except in the face of off-brand pokepuffs. Or when they see each other- that's when they stop pretending to be the dignified legendary dragons who stood by kings and unleash the inner angry cats they truly are.
Virizion felt sorry for Iron Leaves for being ripped from their world by a human's folly, and more or less adopted them into the Swords of Justice. Keldeo was excited to have an underclassman. They parted on incredibly good terms after encountering Iron Boulder and Iron Crown, where Iron Leaves decided to go with them.
The Aether Foundation funds a lot of research into studying artificially created pokemon like genesect. Since genesect are too aggressive for most trainers to handle and too dangerous to be left alone, quite a few of them have been rehabilitated at Aether Paradise.
Meloetta befriended Rosa's older sister while she was in prison by singing outside her window.

Just saw that today is Cyndaquil day and I felt like sharing it with you.
We have Akaris Partner in crime Ember who is with her through thick and thin and in PMD if you blink Ingo technically was a Cyndaquil as well (I bet a cute one given how you adjusted the design)
Hope it’s ok I shared this news with you and I’m looking forward to any updates from you
Hey anon!! It’s cyndaquil day today?? AH!! Thank you for telling me!!
PLA honestly made cyndaquil go from a starter I didn’t even pay much mind to to my #1 favorite starter. Seeing Hisuian Typhlosion’s design when the leaks first started popping up really made me go WOW that’s so cool. And doing several PLA playthroughs with cyndaquil as my starter (including my Akari playthrough with Ember) got me super attached to cyndaquil as a partner pokemon.
This ask got me thinking about PMD Ingo as a cyndaquil. In my AU, he shows up as a fully evolved hisuian typhlosion, so I never thought about what he’d actually look like as a cyndaquil! So I wanted to draw it!! Hope you like the interpretation! ^^
What a great pokemon, cyndaquil does deserve a day to itself!!
Thanks for telling me anon, and I’m glad you look forward to my updates!! I have stuff to share soon, I just need the wifi connection to work with me a little bit more haha.
#Ingo would NOT be happy with those useless little hands#wayward’s asks#HISUI PMD AU#waywardstationart

How did you develop this art style? Obviously I’d guess with a lot of experimentation but what led up to it? Do you have any artist that inspired you?
(Your art is wonderful and I love how you make stuff) >^<
Yeah it's hard to pinpoint everything! It's like a culmination of all the stuff I enjoy and continues to evolve as I am inspired by other media and other artists works
Waaaay back when I drew mostly neopets, pokemon, and kirby as a kid which got me on the path, along with other cute creature media

Then I got into anime and rpgmaker games, which had a big effect on me

and now there are like countless amazing artists that i super look up to (such as sukinapan, apple_toast, manna) , and lots of amazing indie games (such as rain world, undertale, omori) that inspire me day after day sorry for the long ramble haha, it's always a bit of a deep dive question!

trainer evbo wants to battle!
go check out @rhymeswithchronic's post about this pvpciv au!
time for some design thoughts
from this point forward in the post, i'll be referring to evbo as boey!
so this all started because i thought, "haha, his headband would have a pokeball design on it" and now here we are like two whole hours later (not counting the amount of time it's going to take me to yap about this design)
everything else was like, "okay, how can i make his design call back to jirachi" since that's his partner pokemon
the music i went to for his vibes were nemona's regular battle theme and zame's remaster of barry's battle theme! he feels like someone who'd have an animation where he jumps into frame before the battle actually starts
it's a little hard to see here because of how they're positioned, but the ribbon part does share the same wavy edge as jirachi's... tail? thing? i'm not sure what they are. also i feel like i say this at least once each time i start yapping about my designs, i should probably work on that lmao
the pouch on his hoodie is meant to somewhat resemble an eye
his hair does flair out a little bit at the ends since jirachi's head is a star, but i didn't want to make it too over the top so it's a lot more subtle than that
obviously his pouches, pockets and bag are filled with things he's picked off the ground
... don't ask me what his bag looks like beyond what's shown here because i didn't really think that much about it
yes the little bit of text on his hoodie says "360" because he makes references to parkciv in the source material and i was like, sure why not (pokemon 360 is wynaut, which does kinda work out in retrospect if you consider that it's fate is to evolve into the pokemon equivalent of a punching bag. one that can fuck you up, but a punching bag regardless)
the pokeball being upside down is intentional on my end, boey... not so much. guy's just too excited to battle to notice
boey you're gonna trip boey
i think it would be funny if his treecko had unburden as her ability, so she's here unburdening boey berry pouch lmao
gave her stripes because boey has stripes, that's about all the thought that went into that element
treecko's actual eyes make them look so serious, so i made them round here. she can be a silly little guy as a treat
jirachi's pretty much just your standard jirachi, the only difference here is that i made their eyes green instead of teal
i think the last time i drew either of these pokemon was when my friends and i were challenging each other to draw them from memory, which i would be down for again! drop an ask about drawing a mon from memory if you make it to this point or something idk

Pink Volkner my beloved
Also some doodles
Close ups + much headcanons/rambling under cut
- I like to think Elekid is the 3rd pokemon Volkner got (after Shinx and Pikachu).
- Shinx was the 1st to evolve and it really inspired the other two to become stronger as well ! They all wanna reach new heights together, Volkner is very proud of them.
- Elekid is an energetic dumb cutie. He tends to cause problems by accident.
- He's likes to assist Volkner's machine tinkering even tho he doesn't understand a thing about it. He's super useful to provide power for the machines but at the time Volkner lacked experience and elekid lacked power control so I can imagine things went wrong a few times aksksksks, like machine explosions and such. Still, they were both hyped !
- Volkner's electivire absolutely LOVES music and it has been the case ever since he was a little elekid
- One day Volkner lended elekid his headphones and he was overjoyed ! He loves loud music and feeling the vibration it causes in the body.
-His music taste is close to Flint's. I think they also have a lot in common personality wise ! They end up becoming great buds with time
- Talking about music, idk if I mentionned it but I love the idea of Volkner playing electric guitar and Flint playing drums. I think they would play together in Flint's garage or something
- Luxray sometimes use his X-ray vision to help Volkner find lost picks haha (we don't talk about the time he saw it in another mon's stomach)
- I think the 1st time Volkner went to Flint's home, there was this moment Flint's mom being like "Oh you must be Volkner ! Flint talks about you a lot 🤭" and Volk would be looking at Flint like "...👀" and Flint would be like "AAA I do NOT (he does) ANYWAY, let's go to my room". And he also would give Volk a house tour until he shows off his drums in the garage and that would be when they both discover the other plays an instrument.
Btw about family :
- I don't think about parents/family a lot in pokemon but I like to think Flint has like a lively family !
- I picture Volkner as an only child so I think he's intrigued by Flint's life in his house, with him having a brother and all ! He likes the calm he has at his own home but Flint's home has such warmness, it's not bad
- Maybe Volkner got his love for tinkering from his dad. Like he would sitting there watching his dad repair stuff while he teaches him how to do it and stuff !
Some less important detail about elekid/electivire :
My sister mentionned how you're supposed to trade for electabuzz to evolve into electivire but I decided to ignore this because I prefer the thought of Electivire having been by Volkner's side since he was a kid. Now he could been traded with Flint's magmar then immediatly traded back once evolved but I think that trading mechanic is kinda stupid and will use the fact that in PLA none of that is necessary.
Because Elekid would get along well with Flint, if he belonged to Flint at some point it could be interesting ! But I still prefer the thought of him always being with Volkner, with him having things in common with Flint being a coincidence. For balance it's funny to think magby/magmortar has similarities with Volkner hehe. Maybe I'll dig on that on day...
That's all for now (it was plenty already haha), thanks for reading all of this ! I love to share headcanons, I hope it's not too much alsksks

What if I assigned them a Pokemon team like the nerd I am. And explain them. Send help?
Pure Vanilla:
In order from first to last caught: Ampharos, Umbreon, Altaria, Audino, Uxie, Reshiram.
Of course Flaaffy would have to be his first pokemon, while he was still a little field boy. They basically grew up together and have a really strong bond that allows for mega evolution.
Pure Vanilla caught Eevee when he was also really young. And I'm dragging Shadowvanilla in the room now but eevee is our "wolf and sheep" symbolism stand in. His eevee was really aggressive and Pure Vanilla originally found them trying to hunt his herd of flaaffy. Eevee didn't evolve for the longest time, even after building a better relationship with Pure Vanilla. It wasn't until Truthless Recluse's time in the Spire that eevee evolved into Umbreon (between episode 7-8). Eevee/Umbreon was instantly very affectionate with Shadow Milk. Even after leaving the Spire he still visits Shadow Milk, often with messages from Pure Vanilla.
Altaria was also a childhood pokemon Pure Vanilla caught. Swablu is a stand in for the Blue Birds in Pure Vanilla's idles. Not many people know, but Pure Vanilla is a very good singer, and it's because Altaria helped teach him!
Audino was a pokemon Pure Vanilla caught at Blueberry Yogurt Academy. He and White Lily received one in their healer classes. (White Lily's is a shiny).
Uxie just gives Pure Vanilla vibes, and is the guardian of knowledge ahem truth. Also the design similarities with the closed eyes. Thematically very aligned. On his travels Pure Vanilla encountered them and Uxie sensed their dormant soul jam. For a while Uxie remained hidden and just followed Pure Vanilla around. They eventually revealed their presence and let themselves be caught by him to accompany his travels. Formerly trained by the Sage, Uxie was released into the world after Smilk was captured by the Witches.
Reshiram appeared when Pure Vanilla fully awakened his soul jam. They were asleep in their stone form for many years. They originally belonged to the Sage of Truth before their renouncement of the truth. Was actually very happy to see their original trainer at the spire to Shadow Milk's dismay.
Shadow Milk:
In order from first to last caught: Meowstic, Gengar, Ninetales, Hoopa, Kyurem, Magearna
Meowstic was from Shadow Milk's original team as the Sage. When they were an Espurr the Sage helped them control their powers as to not hurt them. Now they assist Shadow Milk in his other realm, and stayed with Truthless Recluse while they were in the tower.
Gastly was a playful pokemon that the Sage entertained. They haunted the academy the school he used to teach at. They eventually evolved into Gengar and became capable of mega evolution. They are still fond of games and help Smilk terrorize... er entertain people who enter the Spire.
Ninetales is the last member of Smilk's original team as the Sage. And I recently learned that they are found in a place called the "Blueberry Academy terrarium" in one specific pokemon game dare I explain more??? In another game it was also found on the highest peak in the region, which I will use as a reference to the Peak of Truth. I was having a lot more trouble choosing Smilk's pokemon because they couldn't just be haha silly or uh oh powerful they had to be a kind of mix between the two. More often than not he isn't a brute force kind of person either. Ninetales I think is a good balance between all these. During their time with the Sage Ninetales was their blue variant but gradually turned more purple after Smilk's corruption.
If you've watched Hoopa's movie you'd know this is a little chaos maker who loves being a little brat. Smilk and him are on the same wavelength as powerful beings who were sealed away and love a little bit of disrupting society. Definitely spent a lot of time with Candy Apple cookie as a kid they love causing mischief together.
Kyurem appeared after Smilk was corrupted but before he was imprisoned. After absorbing Reshiram they helped the Beasts wreak havoc on the continent. They were frozen away by the witches after Smilk was sealed away in the tree.
Magearna was actually the Sage’s creation. He created the mechanical body and then imbued Magearna life with the soul jam. Magearna stopped functioning however when the soul jams were split. It’s body was left in the spire and forgotten. When Pure Vanilla entered the spire they gradually came back to life. They were able to fully function after the fall of Pure Vanilla. Truthless Recluse found them in the spire and took care of Magearna during his time there. Magearna is now fully functioning again. Wherever Smilk goes it’s not far behind. As annoyed as he acts with its presence, he still harbors some care towards his creation.

Do you think you'll draw the nimbasa trio catching their first Pokemon that's not their starter on their journey?
Definitely! It’s just a matter of getting there, haha. I am but one vaguely man shaped blob with a hyperfixation. Mortal needs like sleep and hand pains stop me from vomiting every brain idea I have.
I actually got this question multiple times, so to answer! I am not going to be drawing the nimbasa trio getting another pokemon until their late teens unless a brainworm strikes. (So no new pokemon during the current snapshot series haha.)
Why?
From a canon perspective, well:
Most npc trainers you meet on route have 2-4 pokemon, so I’m gonna try to keep within that amount until the trio settles in Nimbasa and have the revenue/space to upkeep a full pokemon team.
From a meta perspective, wellllll:
Another caught pokemon means character development, and I, ah... right now, I just wanna draw a candle, a zebra, and an eel. I love painting. But fitting seven or more characters on a canvas is, er… Make me draw more guys and I’ll melt like a vanniluxe on a summer day.
If people are curious for some pokemon headcannons though (note that this is not canon— pokemon gave me a puddle of information, so I’m taking the shovel to dig an ocean.)
- ingo saw a colony of dwebble collecting rocks while in the desert, and he’s been enamored ever since. He’s been trying to convince a dwebble to join his team for a while. Unfortunately, Ingo’s very excited and dwebble are naturally shy. (It doesn’t help that litwick can get mean when jealous.)
- emmet loves double battles and teams up with a lot of wild pokemon— but he doesn’t click with anybody until much further in the future. Me thinks his expectations are a tad too high from having such a good start with tynamo. He’s worked with multiple growlithes and thinks Helping Hand is the coolest shit ever.
- emmet’s first “caught” pokemon would be archen. More like “lab grown” and “lovingly hatched”, but it’s the thought that counts. Thinking once again about squab archen…
- elesa found her two emolga in the trash. She was going to release them after fostering, but got attached.
For future plans:
(The pokemon the twins live with and are officially part of the team (named at what stage the twins meet them! Note that everybody becomes fully evolved at somepoint.)
Ingo— litwick, dwebble, drillbur, and axew.
Emmet— tynamo, archen(lint roller), joltik, and durant.
They also have pokemon coworkers that don’t live with them, but agree to help in battles for exp and wages— kliklank twins, garbadore, shelmet and karablast, boldore (atlas), and gurdur)
And for our favorite electric gym leader:
Elesa— blitzle, the emolga twins (em and molga), stunfisk, mareep
(She has pokemon coworkers Eelektross (eela), zebrastrika (motorbreak), and Galvulanta (Lanta) who have a similar set up to the twins— the pokemon agree to work with Elesa for exp and wages, but otherwise have their own lives.)
(Fun headcanon: pokemon who are raised by humans tend to keep human nicknames. It’s not always the case, but it’s a common enough trend for research studies.)
#critterbitter screams into the void#ask#mailbox#future plans!#but yeah! sorry folks. the trio are not going to be decked with fully evolved teams for a WHILE#ingo emmet and elesa are pokemon npcs#not pokemon protagonists#i like to imagine the scary children we as players embody are uh. Definitely not normal to most folks#((but also i really like pokemon teams as family. so i wanna take the time to develope possible story directions mmmhmm!))#skitters back into the void where i nest#pokemon#submas headcannons

Some history facts with Prof. Elsie!
Hey! The name's Elsie, and I'm a history professor at Harmonia University! I specialize in human history, but I'm pretty passionate about history in general so I guess the Askblog Council came to me with all these questions from you guys, heh heh!
You probably saw me a while ago anonymously answering a few of these questions. But I think I'm brave enough now to show my face to everyone and be an official member of the Blog! I believe these questions were asked a while ago, but now I have the time to answer them so...well I guess I should address them eh?
What can you tell us about humans?
Well I think I've mentioned before, and it's probably obvious just by looking around, but they're nonexistent here! They did exist at one point, we were all living harmoniously together...until some unfortunate circumstances that led to a big war between humans and Pokemon. From then on, humans started having less of an impact and then just...completely vanished, without any warning.
Was it ever stated how all the humans disappeared? Is it simply an extinction event or more of a supernatural thing?
That's a pretty big topic in today's history research actually! Pokemon were winning by a landslide, but ultimately the war ended in a truce between Pokemon and humans. As a result, the roles shifted a little bit, as before Pokemon were often companions to humans, almost like a pet...but now we were more independent. Living among them as civilians.
The complete disappearance is truly an enigmatic event that is a big debate among experts nowadays! Some associate it with a giant meteor shower - the biggest one seen in history that wiped out humans, as us Pokemon are quite durable. There's also been recounts of a blinding, soul crushing flashing beam of light that wiped them all out. Either way, life was becoming more unsustainable for humans as things evolved to fit Pokemon-kind more...that probably accelerated things. But from how fast it happened and the fact that the event was very poorly documented...there's more reason to believe that someTHING supernatural caused it.
What are your thoughts on humans as a whole? How do you feel about their unfortunate fate?
My family was always very close with humans. I've only heard great things about them, and all the cool stories of how my family, against all odds, won the biggest battles in international leagues and tournaments, all thanks to a trainer that knew how to make a small, weakling species like ours, very strong! I grew up with a very positive outlook on humans, and it makes me really sad that things turned out the way they did. Like I said earlier, we wouldn't be here if it weren't for the humans. That's probably what led me down this path, honestly. Haha!
What's the geography of the world like? How has the geography changed since the human times?
The humans were in the midst of restructuring and renaming the regions in the world. To make them more...friendly sounding I guess. Certain areas also wanted to be their own thing...so that's where regions like Unova and Alola come from.
When the humans were wiped out, this was an unfinished project that Pokemonkind were determined to finish. Physically, the world is the same. But how everything is divided is probably different from what you're used to.
The region that Harmonia University is in - Arboria - although one of the biggest regions in the world, remained in one piece, somehow! Our downstairs neighbour got split into a few parts...Unova and Alola, as Ive mentioned, and some of the desert areas became known as the Orre region.
Another example where things are different...the Freyurr region! This was comprised of 3 different regions before - collectively known as Scandinavia. After the human extinction, this region became one with 3 distinct areas with their own language and culture.
What happened to Pokeball technology? It seems like it could be dangerous, but on the other hand it could be useful - especially for transportation! And it's low cost, low space, I'm surprised I haven't seen any evidence of the technology being converted for modern use.
Pokeballs are pretty much nonexistent nowadays, near impossible to get your hands on as a normal civilian! It was one of the biggest things that the Pokemon back then had a gripe about with the humans. Although not completely inhabitable, living in a Pokeball was very unpleasant - it's basically like being put into a very deep slumber, for who knows how long. Not much room to do anything or move around in there. Plus, many humans caught and collected tons of Pokemon with no rhyme or reason - many of them were left abandoned in Pokeballs and PC’s, never being able to see the light of day.
Other than for research and education purposes, Pokeballs have been banned all around the world ever since Pokemon civiliazation was born. We don’t even use them to capture our own ferals.
I've heard rumors that humans had experimented with themselves to turn into Pokemon before, but I'm assuming it's all just a myth. Was there ever a possibility that some of the humans ended up becoming Pokemon due to their experiments?
Pah, I'm pretty sure that was all a hoax. I'm sure humans have tried, but honestly they didn't make any breakthroughs in that front. I don't think human genetics were wired in a way that would even make that possible. They were able to kind of do it with Pokemon due to there being a particular species with properties that could allow it. But humans to Pokemon...nah that'd be a complete rewrite of everything! Or maybe...a really fun dream.
Do the Galar fossil Pokemon exist? How do fossil Pokemon work, are they revived or have they just always been around?
Yep, they do exist. But there's a bit of a catch...all of the fossil-revived species living today were revived during the human era, or are descendants of those that were. We've had to abolish a lot of those fossil revival labs, as newly found fossils would just come out as feral Pokemon with really nowhere to go. Now there are some such Pokemon in captivity, but it's strictly for ethical research purposes!
Anyways, I think that's all the questions that were left over for me! Hope that was informative. Our history isn't pretty but I think it's still really important to learn about it all. Haha! Well, if any of you still have questions, or just want to come chat with me...I'll be available!
