I love how many hc Pmd aus there are out there!! It's such a fun setting to play with! My au is Soup Group focused, but Pearl's day job is with PET mail. Going through and picking out pokemon for the hermits to be is so fun- do you have any others outside of PET picked out?

while I agree that some anti-generative AI arguments are weak and revealing (defense of copyright, or the nebulous idea of soul and what makes art Real Art) nothing's currently gonna shake the association between generative ai and conservative twitter techbros to me. Like I sometimes see "heh... the anti ai people are even more annoying than the ai people" posts and respectfully I still unfortunately use twitter and imo that is not fucking true

the vast majority of my drawings take less that 2 hrs, lest I get bored and never finish em!

sketch pages w several drawings are typically around 3 hrs and below

for rendered pieces its typically 3-5 hrs. the most recent render I did (X) was about 2hr 36 mins ( which was pretty fast imo)

full comics are a bit of roll of a dice, it depends on complexity/length and if im writing it as Im drawing it! this one was 8hrs (X) whereas this one (X) was below 2hr

sun hasn’t even risen yet and I’m feeling so emotional about how Dan is living proof that growth takes time but is so worth it and sometimes you don’t work through the hard stuff until you’re well into adulthood bc just getting by took enough energy and you simply didnt have the tools yet and we now know that things got so dark for him and im sure the darkness will come again bc that’s how these things go but now he’s smiling with his crows feet and laugh lines and silly clothes bc now he can love his body enough to put it in silly outfits before going out into the world and he’s goofy and playful and in love and idk guys life can be so defeating and it sure was for him at times but here he is this gleaming imperfect beautiful example of work and growth and acceptance and self love

I’m sure people have done alignment charts for the raven cycle but I’ve been thinking a lot about adam as chaotic neutral. like there’s a line in trk where he says he doesn’t take sides (and then proceeds to take sides) and he actually takes sides a lot, but he doesn’t take sides between ronan and gansey bc he likes one better than the other (he is loyal to them both) but instead he takes sides because his opinions of right vs wrong are entirely his own. anyways here are my thoughts:

adam: chaotic neutral

ronan: chaotic good

gansey: true neutral

blue: neutral good

i LOVE how north of north constructed all of its characters. every single one of them feels so human and flawed in a way that defies easy categorization of good or bad. i love how they break stereotypes without making it seem like they're trying to break stereotypes--they're just writing good characters.

Thought it'd be fun if i combined that with the WIP ask game (thanks for the tag @mercuryisfronting!!!) especially since all my art WIPs have a really boring and organized file naming system 😅, but i have so few writing WIPs that i can get weird with the titles still! Steve starts to grow his hair out in the late eighties. While he and Robin are in Bloomington for college, more than half of the guys there have hair to their shoulders. Or longer!

Not being a student and yet inexplicably being invited to every campus party, Steve saw a lot of these men. Probably more than Robin ever wants to hear about, thank you very much.

Robin, as a newly liberated lesbian, is trying to find her style as a member of the community. There are so many ways to dress, so many ways to wear her hair.

That's where the tradition starts.

It's January 1991. Robin's classes are still on break for the holidays and she and Steve are piled onto the sofa under every blanket they own. She's reading a lengthy medieval poem for a history class and he's mostly asleep. The heat went out the day before and he promised to bang around in the furnace closet at some point, but not before noon.

Robin's mind drifts and her eyes unfocus on the word coif. She taps Steve medium-hard on the head with her book. He blinks into a glare and gives her the finger.

"How do the ladies feel about the new Harrington look?"

He snorts and sits up so he can drop his head and shoulders onto her lap. He pulls over the blankets and snuggles in obnoxiously.

"Buckley, I don't know who you think you've been living with if you haven't put together what goes down across from you every weekend."

She scoffs. "Yes, I obviously know you're a manwhore. I'm just wondering what percentage of your harem is beautiful, deluded women."

He seems to consider it for a few seconds. Probably making a mental list, she thinks and bites back a sigh.

"Hm. I think it's like sixty/forty. Sixty percent girls. Forty percent… not girls? What do you call everyone left over?"

"I call them idiots with bad taste, but that's just me."

He pats her hand where it rests on his chest. "It's sad how jealous you are, Robin."

She doesn't answer, just tugs sharply on his hair.

"I asked you a question, dipstick."

"Ow! I answered you!"

"How do the ladies feel about your hair? Are your looks still doing all the heavy lifting or do you just, like, talk them into bed?"

"Everyone likes my hair! You know," he goes a little quiet, thinking. "You should really try cutting yours shorter. I think the not-girls really like it when I dress-- what was it you said when I wore the pastel top?"

"Androgynous."

"Sure. I guess I attract more non-straights when I look sort of in the middle. Could work for you, too."

Robin sighs and throws her head back.

"How does this come so easily to you?"

"Did you forget you were talking to a manwhore?"

She looks at his hair where it rests between her fingers. It's full of split ends because he's exceptionally lazy when the weather gets below fifty degrees and hasn't been to have it cut. She thinks about the skinny black shears in the bathroom.

"Would you do it?" she asks him, hand curling into a loose fist around the strands. "You could cut yours, too. It's a mess."

He smiles up at her so sweetly, in that way of his that always makes her dizzy. She smiles back and tugs him into the bathroom.

They have to drag in the space heater and two of the blankets and even then they stay pressed together for warmth in front of the mirror.

She's nervous when he picks up the scissors and she knows he can tell. He makes his thinking face and puts a lock of his hair between his finger and thumb. "Say when," he tells her. At just above his chin, she says, "When."

Without hesitating even a second, he twists the hair between his fingers, opens the scissors, and slices right where she told him. She gapes at him.

"What the hell, Steve! That is not a trim!"

He considers the inches in his hand. "I figured I could cut me first so you can see if you like it."

And then he gives himself a surprisingly skillful haircut, explaining everything he does along the way. By the time he's finished, she's surprised how impatient she is for her turn.

"Are you really sure, Rob?" He's giving her an out, as if he didn't just turn himself into a male model.

She grabs his head and positions the two of them ear to ear. She holds her hair against his and resolutely cuts it to the same length. "There. Now give me the manwhore special."

When he's finished and they're both gazing at each other in the mirror, he says, "Take a deep breath, Buckley."

"Why?"

"You're about to be drowning in pussy."

And they don't know it yet, while they're laughing and brushing bits of hair into the trashcan, but they're going to do this again and again. They'll do whatever they want to their hair eleven months of the year, but every January they'll press their faces together and one of them will say when. Once Robin is out of school with her MA and they both get real jobs, they'll start going to a stylist, who will be so charmed by the pair of them that he'll only charge for one haircut.

And maybe a girlfriend of Robin's will ask her in the future why she looks like a shampoo model after New Year's and she'll look at Steve and his dizzy-sweet smile and say, "It's tradition."

do you think the succubus chilchuck sees is his wife, but blonde? he seems so upset when its dead

I think it’s a very strained theory. There are two layers to this: Chilchuck’s expression, and the succubi’s appearances. And notice the plural of appearances.

Chilchuck’s expression here is meant as comedic, we can assume because of the lashes and sparkle in his eyes, it gives shojo energy (which is intentional and heavily present at the very least with Marcille in the same chapter). It’s a type of dramatic sorrowful expression that I think Marcille with Hareus and Laios with scylla Marcille would have had the same, the type that Laios had when Marcille crushed the cool dragon familiar he made the type of face you make when a unicorn is killed in front of you. Chilchuck would have this face regardless of this being his wife, because regardless of it being his wife or not the succubi are still Chilchuck’s ideal form. It’s like having the blorbo you fantasize about brutally mauled inches away from your face, or a painting you love stained. Chilchuck wants the sirens to come for his life and is sad he lost the opportunity for it lol. But most importantly imo, if that was his wife, he would have had a face much more like genuine terror or horror (which would have been still both funny and understandable so it was a deliberate choice to pick this expression instead), like in his nightmare with his dead daughters.

Ok now onto appearances: Here are all of Chilchuck’s succubi we see.

The biggest thing against this theory for me is that yes, these are different women who are visibly different. There’s no denying he has a type, long wavy blonde hair, deepset light-colored eyes and sultry mouths, faces with a mature quality to them, but different women no less. It would be interesting to analyze what it would mean for Chilchuck to have only one of his succubi in a sea of succubi be his wife, but it would defeat the purpose of it I think. We see waves of women succubi throw themselves at him, and I think the intent is just that; for them to just be women, his ideal type materialized but sort of identity-less, a mass of them that isn’t really meant to be differentiated or individualized. If you believe that the nameless black-haired half-foot woman portrait is his wife, that shortens the conversation, but there are also arguments beyond it for why yes his wife would have black hair, and why she’d have deepset eyes and a face like this (because it’s a solid argument that his type would be at least influenced by her yes. I go into this topic in this post). If we go with the portrait chilwife theory, then it’s pretty straightforward that none of them truly closely look like her. If we go with another theory then we’re truly walking in the dark for how she looks like. How close is close enough to "be" ‘her except blonde’, anyways? It’s the sort of thing you can believe if you want to, but it creates more questions than answers, which albeit isn’t always bad. My interpretation of Chilchuck’s succubi makes me biased though of course, because it’s closely intertwined with my overall interpretation of Chilchuck and whatnot. I’ve talked about succubi in dungeon meshi and them in relation to Chilchuck a lot over time. I think them being faceless and varied rather than one single model of perfection is because he craves pleasure with no ties, something to feel good for a while and forget all his troubles, including his separation. I think that when Chilchuck reacts like that below, it’s because he feels some amount of guilt at it not being her, and again not wanting to think about painful things, but it could be interpreted to be "can you not, when you just blew her up" I suppose. I go into it here and here as well.

I don’t know Kui’s brain so like, this is just my thoughts, like you asked for, but yeah I don’t think that first succubus literally had his wife’s appearance.
