For me, there is no satisfaction in being negative about this or any trans film, but this piece isn’t a review of I Saw the TV Glow. It’s a review of how we talk about I Saw the TV Glow.

This Ends at Prom is a podcast hosted by Harmony and BJ Colangelo about girl-centered movies.
One of their summer episodes covered How to Deal, the 2003 adaptation of Sarah Dessen's That Summer and Someone Like You.
Joined by Stephanie (of Books in the Freezer podcast), the trio discuss what's aged well and poorly in the last 20 years, fedoras and hair styles, teen pregnancy, comparisons to the Dessen novels, and how this movie compares to other Mandy Moore movies.
How to Deal is episode 152 of This Ends at Prom. Other than Apple, it's available on Spotify.

Very similar to the previous ask, but what do the queens sound like?
I have a bit of a hard time trying to explain what I imagine, because I am not familiar with how to term types / qualities of voices. I honestly always think they would sound like the actors who portray them, so I hope that is not too weird. I also typically think they would look like certain actors who play them as well. I know that seems very on-the-nose and obvious, because of course they would, but you know.
Anyway, I will put my opinion of what each queen sounds like, and the actress whose voice matches in my mind, so let me speak:
Victoria has a sweet and quiet, feminine voice. Youthful and crystalline, but lacking conviction. She sounds like the Vic from the illegal Korean production from 1999 (who is super freaking pretty) or Alexandra Sinitsina.
Rumple has a higher pitched voice, sort of squeaky. Vibrant and full of mischief. She sounds like Jo Gibb, Laura Bishop, and Jasmin Colangelo all mixed together.
Tanto has a whispery, but higher voice. Full of spirit and wisdom, but younger. She sounds like Emily Tate or Helen Gulston.
Cass has a darker, low register. Breathy and mysterious, but silky. She sounds like Rebecca Parker, Anneke Dacres, and Mette Towley.
Demeter has a slightly raw, melodic voice. Textured and harmonious, full of emotion. She sounds like Aeva May Brewer or Emmanuelle N'Zuzi.
Bomba has a rich, fiery voice. Alluring, but not overly sexy. She sounds like Rosemarie Ford or (that accent I am 95% sure is fake) Christine Cornish Smith.
Jenny has a distinguished, excited tone to her voice. One with pride and warmth. She sounds like a halfway between Susie McKenna and Ellie Nunan.
Jelly has the duality of strength and softness in her voice. Mature and matron-like, one she grew into at a younger age than it would sound. She sounds like Clare Rickard.
#i have no idea if this is what you wanted so let me know if not#like i said i have no idea how to properly qualify what i think they sound like into words#it is a good ask though

Hey you should check out some episodes of the This Ends At Prom podcast! BJ Colangelo and her wife Harmony Colangelo analyze “teen girl” movies through their queer perspectives (Harmony is a trans woman) and it’s a really cool one. I just think you might like it! They’re both fun to follow on Twitter and they’ve done episodes on movies you’ve talked about before!
Omg wait that sounds amazing!

Clarice Starling was a revelation while the portrayal of "Buffalo Bill" became a bane for many trans people coming of age. The impeccably constructed film is the gold standard of copaganda. We unpack The Silence of the Lambs' complicated legacy with Harmony Colangelo!
We made a playlist to accompany this episode! It's comprised of songs that come to mind when we all think about this movie.
You can Harmony's essay A Reluctant Defense of Silence of the Lambs' James Gumb here. You can find Harmony on Twitter here. You can find A Year of Queer Cocktails here. You can find This Ends at Prom here!
Why Are Dads is a show in which hosts Sarah Marshall and Alex Steed attempt to understand what the hell it means to be the grown children of dads and other dad-like figures. And, as they do with all difficult subject matter, they do so by looking through a pop culture lens.
You can find us on Twitter, Instagram and Patreon.
You can find producer and music director Carolyn Kendrick's music here. She's also on Twitter.

Gonna b candid for a sec....
Putting under a cut cause it got big.
rocky isnt more transmisogynistic a movie than tlts us a show. Which indicates the issues of transmisogyny in both. The reason im doing an analysis on tlts is bc ppl dont talk abt the blatantness of the bigited themes. But ppl dont discuss this on posts praising tlts bc it doesn't have the long legacy tht rocky obviousky does in our culture. Ppl have a right to be pissed off whenever someone calls it a queer classic. But i think what gets lost a little is the ppl who do enjoy it dont always enjoy it for the film itself. But more the shadowcasts theyve been to and the community it created for them.
Just like theres ppl like harmony colangelo who enjoy and defend sleepaway camp... theres trans women n trans fem ppl who enjoy the movie but more often than not enjoy the community tht fans of the movie have created.
I rankle whenever ppl talk abt being a part of now twilight fandom while still disagreeing with the author not lining her pockets in any way. Bc of the vommunity aspect. Marauders fans unfortunately are a part of the same ilk but theyre dumber abt it. But can i rankle when i go to my towns two decade long running rocky shadowcasts (no...).
I thinks its important to acknowledge the issues of shit and a lot of ppl who enjoy it defend it bc they feel like if something has problems then theyre morally bad for liking it. But i think that its important to take in the criticisms and realize tht we all like some shit thats harmful. The way tme think they can reclaim rocky n make it not bad is shit. Theyve gotta sit with the fct tht the community they love is created n steeped in some shit. N its taken me a decade to sort all tht out.
My transfem friends who love rocky are also critical of it. And theres so many issues that can arise in the shadowcasts. (Strangely enough i havent seen a callout script tht includes the t slur which is Fascinating to me. But thats another subject matter.

Sleepaway Camp (1983)
Hey! It's basically my birthday! To celebrate, The Blood Buddies brought along our friend Alyx from the Strange Talk radio show!
Sleepaway Camp (1983) dir. Robert Hiltzik. "Angela Baker, a shy, traumatized young girl, is sent to summer camp with her cousin. Shortly after her arrival, anyone with sinister or less than honorable intentions gets their comeuppance." (Source: IMDB)
