i got a lovely gift of $200 this morning and was going to save $100 for me (gotta look out for #1!) and give $50 to palestine esims and $50 to my mutual in poverty. but it turns out my chorus dues are $175 so i basically only have $25. mentally.

I could have paid either way but it became "cover bills" money instead of "fun money" in less than 12hr. :(

Today's controversial take is that Bruce's character isn't assassinated all that much by writers, fans just don't like him as a fully fledged character with flaws in his own right.

Like I know Gotham War just happened but the last time (in my memory) he ever was physically abusive with the kids was Forever Evil/That-One-Panel-Where-Bruce-punched-Dick-New52 and UTRH/RHATO 25. It's been a good 10ish years since he hit Dick and a good 18 to 9 years since any of Bruce's and Jason's fights.

And no, Bruce hitting Tim doesn't count, that was explained.

That is a good couple of years between each event.

Bruce is a flawed individual, he's a flawed parent. Bruce has hurt his kids, physically and emotionally. Doesn't mean his abusive. I'm not saying Bruce never hit his kids, what I'm saying that it was more complex than that.

All this crying about how editorial doesn't want Bruce to be a good dad but that fandom does is petty bullshit. If you pick up a random issue Bruce ain't beating his kids or emotionally abusing his kids. You just don't read and expect the Batfamily to have Hallmark family dynamics.

No one wants to read the actual arc but they'll read out of context panels which dumb down the conflict.

Bruce hitting Dick during Bruce Wayne: Murderer was not abuse, they were fighting. Bruce hitting Dick during the Court of Owls was abuse. Bruce hitting Dick during Nightwing 30 wasn't abuse. Bruce hitting Dick during New Titans 55 was abuse. Just two times.

Bruce fighting Jason during UTRH wasn't abuse, it was self-defence. Bruce fighting Jason during RHATO wasn't abuse, they were fighting.

Bruce is consistently portrayed as a good but flawed parent. Even after post-crisis, even after Death in the Family, you will find good moments of Bruce being fatherly.

I was going to say we’ve just reinvented First World Problems, but a key thing is that (as far as I can tell/remember) those image macros were not made to shut down specific people. In fact, it was often the opposite: using the #FirstWorldProblems hashtag or the crying white woman background for your own petty grievances was a way to share them and probably get some commiseration (“Oh yeah, I hate when that happens!”) while also acknowledging in a slightly self-deprecating way that yes, you were objectively lucky to have this be your problem. The true 2024 equivalent is “and I’m being so brave about it.”

that post about "smith college problems" is an all time rock bottom take on this web site. if you have a problem specific to your community its not a real problem and you shouldn't talk about it. genius stuff there pal.

My poodle's fur was getting pretty long, to the point it was starting to cover his eyes so I decided to give him a haircut. My mum said we should go to the groomer who works at our vet's, instead of a nice place I've had my eyes on for a while now.

Long story short.......... they've completely butchered my boy (metaphorically of course, health-wise he's completely fine).

The groomer did the exactly opposite of what I asked him to, and as a result my puppy now sports what I can only describe as a dog-version of a mullet.

Never knew dogs could have mullets? Me neither, man.

Today is a little for hard for me, because @drakes_sparrow_creator goes back to work after a two week break. He works nights so we don't get a lot of time together usually. . Digital citizenship, according to (Choi & Cristol 2021, p. 362), emphasises online participation and civic engagement (social, political, and/or cultural issues) at the micro and macro levels from the viewpoints of political communication and political science. Digital citizenship is the ethical and responsible use of technology and the internet, as well as the ability to participate in digital communities in a safe, courteous, and knowledgeable manner. Digital citizenship comprises a variety of abilities, attitudes, and behaviours necessary for navigating the online environment, including online safety, digital literacy, and ethical online communication. Technology can increase political participation by offering access to information and additional resources for obtaining news and information. According to the notion of social movements, the actions and participation of individuals who are members of a social movement make movements for change more potent and pervasive (Choi & Cristol 2021, p. 365)..

Hashtag publics are online communities that are organised around a particular hashtag, topic, or concern. Typically, these organisations are temporary and can form and disintegrate fast. Hashtag publics have become key sites for political engagement and action because they enable individuals to interact with others who share their interests and concerns and to amplify their voices through social media. Among the most popular hashtags are #tahrir, #winning, #BlackLivesMatter, #FirstWorldProblems, and #rapedneverreported.

In the digital era, political participation and activism have taken on new dimensions, as social media and other digital platforms enable individuals and groups to mobilise fast and effectively around significant issues. Internet-based campaigns, including hashtag activism and online petitions, have been utilised to raise awareness, apply pressure on decision-makers, and effect change. Traditional modes of political engagement, such as voting, community organising, and direct action, are not replaced by digital activism. Yet, here is where digital citizenship and political participation have a significant impact and link.
