katniss everdeen has to do a double take sometimes because, even though she now knows she’s conventionally pretty, she assumes most people find her disagreeable and didn’t really think you would be any different. she’s definitely the most awkward about it though, saying a curt thanks before walking off to process what just happened because she still doesn’t know how to handle so much attention on her.

peeta mellark gets embarrassed easily and has his mouth slightly agape like a fish out of water at your words. his reaction will only spur you on to continue and maybe even go a bit further until he’s a pink, stuttering mess who is trying to cover his face so you don’t comment on it.

haymitch abernathy will scoff and take another sip of his whiskey, telling you that you shouldn’t be getting mixed up with a troubled old man like him any more than you already are. if you’re persistent, however, he may humor you and say something back if he’s really letting the booze flow, but you’ll need to test your luck and see.

effie trinket will giggle with an exaggerated "oh my!" definitely the most flattered of the bunch, especially if you compliment the effort she puts into her appearance. most don't look too much into it or straight out find it to be tacky, so she genuinely appreciates your words. will probably say something that her clothes would look better on the floor of your bedroom if she’s feeling cheeky with a wink and would blow a kiss in your direction.

finnick odair will match your energy and tease back until you two are exchanging compliments and flirtatious comments like a ping-pong match. the type of conversation that will make everyone else nearby groan or get embarrassed and yell to “get a room.”

johanna mason will match your energy tenfold until you’re the one who is on the receiving end and getting flustered at her comments ranging from how cute you are when the tables turn in you and how sexy you are when having the guts to flirt with her (most people are a bit put off by how intimidating she usually is).

gale hawthorne would try to keep his cool demeanor, staying nonchalant and replying smoothly like it’s nothing. however, he’a a bit too casual about it so you’ll be led to believe he’s just not into you like that or didn’t like what you said, but then he’s confused about why you don’t seem as enthusiastic as you did earlier and assumes the same things you’re assuming— the point is, you need to keep communication open.  

annie cresta will stutter and trip over her words, blushing a bright red when she realizes you didn’t hear what she said, and might end up running away to recollect herself. she’s always been shy, but she’s become even more timid with fear after winning the hunger games. after the first shock though, she’s a lot less shy now knowing what to expect, and might even flirt back if you catch her at the right time.

Katniss: Apollo kid, there is like no other option with her singing and archery. Me and my sister were pretty much unanimous.

This also includes basically all the covey, however I am also partial to them being the kids of the muses.

Peeta: me and my sister heavily debated if he is a Hermes or Aphrodite kid, since he is heavily defined by his cunning and his love. However we both agree that man was blessed by Hestia. That’s the only thing I cannot change my mind on.

Haymitch: When I first began thinking who would be his godly parent I was like, I was debating with myself, either Aphrodite, Hermes or Athena, except my sister made me realise I completely forgot the best fucking choice for his godly parent

Lenore Dove: also Apollo but considering he is not only the god of music but also the god of knowledge and poetry i thought it needed to be further explained.

Prim, I thought of also as Apollo but could be Asclepius.

I dunno why but I’m thinking of Demeter for Asterid, but I feel like Aphrodite also suits her

Surely someone must have written the Everlark Gilmore Girls AU right? Because like -

Local fashion designer Cinna who took Katniss in when she first arrived. And then Prim’s father and Katniss’s teenage sweetheart Gale comes back around periodically wanting another chance but doesn’t realise they’ve changed too much to ever be together.

what's the origin of your blog title? I had my old one for almost 10 years and I wanted to change it but I didn't know what I wanted to change it to. I ended up coming up with this because it was aesthetically pleasing to me. I had a huge faerie phase when I was a kid. And I like the color purple!

Effie always got onto him about how much he drank when on the train to the capitol because she didn’t understand how triggering it was for haymitch

Effie always talked about ‘the schedule’ and haymitch didn’t understand that. how are you going to try to talk about getting places on time when they are about to send children to their deaths?

Haymitch refused to let Effie see who he is and try to help him with his ptsd and she tried to assure him that he wouldn’t be the first victor to do so.

Effie always wanted to try and be delicate with haymitch, but eventually she got fed up and told him to get his shit together so they could be happy.

Haymitch always said that it was his fear that snow would use effie against him that stopped him for pursing something with her, but effie started to doubt it after a while.

haymitch abernathy ft. jett ghaul ( @exitio )

haymitch & jett had been through a lot together. more so, jett had been through a lot with haymitch. he was not an easy person to be around. despite this, he had grown to enjoy the other's company -- viewing him as one of his & effie's so called 'children.'

all this being said, something was off with jett, and haymitch could tell. now, was he absolutely sure what it was ? absolutely not. he wasn't very intuitive, and he was even worse about feelings. but he had noticed, and there was no denying it. he finds jett on the couch on the district 12 floor's couch. two drinks in hand, haymitch sits next to him, "hey -- in the mood for a drink ?"

She hadn’t been prepared for him to notice, nor for him to care.  Everyone must have noticed by now that something was different, that something was bothering her, but so far, Effie had always kept quiet about it. This wasn’t exactly something she wanted to bother people with, not when she knew she had already caused enough pain and trouble. This was her burden, small compared to those of others, but still weighing a lot on her shoulders.      Almost shyly did she avoid his gaze, almost scared of what she might see in his eyes if she dared to look up. Surely, she would break, but that was the last thing she wanted to do.  “I thought you didn’t like it if I act like myself.”   Effie tried to avoid, a weak attempt of a playful smile trying to find its way onto her lips. “Are you trying to tell me I should continue acting like I used to? Like that Capitol Princess everyone thought me to be?”    Too many words left her mouth and before she knew it, she mentioned it. One of the many things that seemed to be wrong with her. Gaze fell once more, avoiding him completely.

of course, effie trinket always had something to say -- and of course, that something was about fashion. his strange brood of victors came with their strange whatever-he-and-effie-were-considered. thank god they were some sort of friends now. he doesn't think he could possibly survive these games without her anymore, not that he would ever tell her that. "hey, no judgement here, trinket. i'm just tryin' to pick your brain," not necessarily true, he was worried, and, yknow, cared about her. "how many years have you known me ? you really think i know fabrics ?" he flashes her a smile -- one that had definitely gotten him in trouble in his younger days. "alex engaged? good for them." haymitch wasn't one to believe in love or whatever they constituted as 'love' anymore, but if it made one of his 'kiddos' happy, he supposed he could let it slide

Effie gave him a look that was well-practiced against his usual brand of conversation before finding the space beside and old friend. They were friends by now after all these years and regardless of past encounters, he'd embarrassed her but those were before they agreed to be a strange sort of co-parents to their brood of victors. She was surprised they hadn't interviewed Haymitch but had chosen her for one of the last interviews. Effie understood the reason if she pushed the issue and knew why she could potentially be targeted. If you couldn't take out each victor directly why not aim for the things that supported them. Who helped their team more than the two of them? Glancing at the glass, eyes flashed a soft wordless warning of 'be careful' not that Haymitch would ever listen to her fully. The yards of ruffles flooded around her as she sat beside him, wedging into the bit of space left. "I am not scared, Haymitch. This is tulle and the underlayer is chiffon. I am a little overheated with a large crowd compacted into one room one must suffer a little in the name of high fashion. You know these fabrics. My bet?" Effie spoke, playing along, knowing they both knew more than they were letting on. "You are already perfectly pickled my friend. Not too much longer, I would think. Our Alex though - engaged. I wasn't expecting that."

HAYDOVE (ft other characters) HEADCANNONS

• Haymitch and Lenore Dove were basically crushing on each other since they met, but they started officially dating when they were fourteen.

• They kissed for the first time in a field of flowers In the forest

• Haymitch is low-key a bit of a gossip and used to gossip with old ladies

• Lenore Dove loves coffee (but Haymitch low-key hates it-kinda canon)

• Haymitch and Lenore Dove matched each other’s freak - Lenore Dove did crazy, illegal shit while Haymitch made sure she was safe (and was her alibi frequently)

• Haymitch was pretty popular in school, knew practically everyone, while Lenore Dove was a bit of an outcast. Her friends mostly consisted of Burdock, Haymitch and Blair. When people made fun of Lenore Dove, Haymitch and Burdock (+Blair unwillingly dragged in) played pranks pn them until they apologised.

• Otho was in love with both Asterid and Burdock (a bisexual king like his son) but told Peeta the story of him in love with Astrid because of homophobic peacekeepers and fear of his wife finding out.

• Maysilee had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Lenore Dove, she didn’t like her but she couldn’t not notice the red in her dark hair and green of her eyes (a baby gay). She later had a bit of a crush on Astrid.

• When they had dances in district 12, Haymitch always danced with Louella for her first

• When Sid was little (4-5) he was bullied due to his small height and bright demeanour by some older kids and Haymitch started throwing rocks at their heads-he needed the practice for later in life :)

(When Prim was five, some of the seam kids tried to bully her for her because of her townie features, Katniss was ready with rocks behind her back, Burdock and Asterid got war flashbacks.)

• Haymitch loves laying in Lenore Dove’s lap and listening to her read to him

• Lenore Dove cannot cook, if they married Haymitch would take over that role. (Willamae did not raise a man child)

• a lot of kids at school had a crush on Haymitch (he was handsome , tall, fit and was generally one of the most kindest people there). Lenore Dove was fully aware of this.

• Lenore Dove is the more jealous out of the two, while haymitch was more like ‘yeah I get it she is so pretty and smart and-)

• At one of the capital parties, Haymitch once set Drusilla’s wig on fire (‘it was made of wood! she was practically begging for it Effie’) and then set of fireworks which hit her, causing her to fall down the stairs and break her hip for the second time. Haymitch blamed Magno Stift’s fire breathing lizards, causing him to be fired for a second time and also him and Drusilla’s imminent break up. Haymitch celebrated with a bottle of vodka.
