To me, it's always cartoonishly funny when i pass the hazeltrees and birches on my way to the bus station and sneeze at every single one. Seems like this year will be an itchy eyes and sneezing season. I take that over headache of doom combinations, that's for sure

Given how warm it's supposed to be when i get home, I have high hopes of meeting Round Boie again, whom i snapped a picture of a few days ago, you might remember it:

Hazeltree Laketown is a quiet little place hidden in the Heart of Texas that few will ever stumble upon. The founding witches cast a spell upon this town in its infancy to protect themselves from their persecutors. So most who find this town will forget its existence and every memory attached to it when they drive away. That is unless, deep down, you need Hazel Town in a way you may have never known — if the memories you made here mean something to you, even when you don’t realize it. Maybe it's someone you met and fell in love with, an unexpected group of friends. Or it's you discovering you’re more yourself here than anywhere else. Events here, big and small, could have shaped you into who you always needed to be — for you, not anyone else.

This beautiful lakeside settlement is not without its dangers, however. Beasts of incomprehensible horror lurk in these woods. They’ll kill you where you stand if you aren’t careful. You’d be wise to steer clear of the ECRF, also. They don’t take too kindly towards citizens trespassing on government property, anyhow.

Don’t be discouraged by the small number of members. We’re a very new server. You can create a witch, vampire, cosmic entity, hybrid, human, or ghost. Character creation only has a few basic guidelines to abide by. So you can have fun with your imagination and creativity. Gain EXP from winning fights against other players, and have your choice of rewards!

We welcome sub-para, semi-literate, literate, and novella roleplayers. You don’t have to worry too much about word count and junk. Just give your scene partner enough to work with! We don’t have to submit a character within a set time limit, either. We know that everyone works at different paces!

This server is very LGBTQ+ friendly, and we do our best to keep a positive, judgment-free environment. Everyone here is pretty outgoing, and we seldom take ourselves seriously. So if you enjoy being silly now and again, this is the place for you!

Since Donald Trump’s recent electoral victory, hedge funds shorting Tesla have experienced substantial losses. Many hedge funds, holding short positions on Tesla Inc., saw a combined on-paper loss exceeding $5 billion, Bloomberg reported, using data from S3 Partners. This financial blow stems from a sharp rally in Tesla’s stock price following Trump’s endorsement by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In July, Musk publicly aligned himself with Trump, an alliance that has triggered considerable market shifts.

As Trump’s most high-profile billionaire supporter, Musk has leveraged his influence and wealth to back Trump’s campaign, becoming one of the 2024 election’s largest donors. His public support has led to speculation about potential political benefits, with Trump hinting at rewarding loyalists with roles in his administration. Following this alignment, Tesla’s shares soared by nearly 30%, creating a difficult situation for those who had held short positions on the stock. SISTERS OF THE BLUE MOON

INTRODUCTION

26-year-old Joan Weld founded the Sisters of the Blue Moon in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1690. By 1691, it grew to 106 devoted witches and remains the largest, most active coven today. The Salem Witch Trials forced them to flee in 1962 with little more than the clothes on their back. They traveled for many grueling miles before coming to what would later be central Texas. Here, they established the settlement of Hazeltree Laketown and served as its government.

SISTERS

Also called brothers or siblings, sisters constitute the majority of the coven. Though they act as Hazeltree Laketown’s prime method of defense, they don’t have military rankings. But they have a very loose and unspoken hierarchy among them. Witches look to the fiercest and most accomplished warriors in battle for leadership in the field. The Ring trusts this unnamed group to help them maintain order. Then, those war leaders have one or two soldiers they trust to aid them in leading, in other words — their favorites. Though, the Ring will welcome them with open arms. New members will have to work quite hard to prove themselves worthy to everyone else.

A silver, sapphire drop earring on one ear denotes every Sister of the Blue Moon. If you’re a long-time citizen and know your history, it’ll be easy to spot witches of that coven. Otherwise, you might think this specific earring is some local fashion trend. But these earrings are hand-crafted by the coven for its members with a crystallized drop of Lunae’s power. So they glow a soft blue in the night. You won’t ever find these earrings in any store.

THE RING

The Ring consists of the High Mother (ultimate leader of the coven) and the Mothers (her second-in-commands). There can be as many Mothers as the High Mother wishes to elect. The Ring’s authority extends beyond the coven as they take on the task of governing Hazeltree Laketown. But they don’t make their presence as a governing body very much known. The Ring acts very secretive outside the coven. They don’t do as much as discuss government affairs outside of the conference table in their church. However, they may call town meetings to discuss topics of dire importance.

Nobody aside from the coven refers to members of the Ring as High Mother and Mother. To do so when you aren’t a Sister of the Blue Moon is considered very inappropriate — akin to calling a random stranger on the street Mother or Father. You can say anything you wish about the Ring, even directly to their faces. They won’t care and will stare blankly at you without a word as long as you don’t threaten their lives. However, you likely will never know who the Mothers are if you’re not a Sister of the Blue Moon. It is obvious who the High Mother is, though, as she will always be the eldest daughter of the Weld family.

LUNAE

Lunae is the remarkably powerful grimoire that once belonged to Joan Weld and has since been handed down from mother to eldest daughter in the Weld family. Many believe that it draws some of its unique abundance of power from the blue moon, hence its name, which is Latin for “of the moon.” The iconic earring that every member wears comes from the crystalized essence that oozes from Lunae during rituals. Lunae’s the first grimoire we know to possess such a strange quality.

Only the Sisters and the Ring are allowed to lay hands on Lunae. Only one other attempted to touch it, steal the grimoire from the coven, and he dropped dead. Examiners couldn’t find any trace of the man’s cause of death. But the two witches who planned to stop him reported that an angry woman’s voice came from the book.

It said, “Unhand me at once, or witness your insignificant existence come to an end!”

That remains the first record we have of a grimoire speaking human tongue. So, it begs many questions, such as if Lunae can talk, does that mean it can think? Does it possess a higher level of intelligence and sentience than every other grimoire? Does it make the witches of the Sisters of the Blue Moon stronger than all other witches? What secrets can Lunae be hiding?

Hazeltree Laketown is a horror and mystery roleplay set in the countryside of central Texas, in a town hidden by an ancient spell deep within the forest. Uncover unsolved secrets and see if you can connect the dots and find the answer to years-long questions. Try and figure out what is up with the ECRU — are they being entirely honest about their intentions? Forge friendships, romances, and rivalries, or explore relationships with family. Spotted another item from the #winterwatchlist yesterday - Hazel catkins. These are the male flowers of the hazel tree which release pollen - sometimes you see the female flowers alongside them which I believe are more pink and flower like but I’ve yet to see any. I remember when I was a child living in the countryside I always stopped to look at catkins when out on a walk - such a weird shape and an adorable name!
