*Shadow is washing dishes, Sonic is drying and putting them away*

*Shadow drops the plate he was rinsing back into the sink, splashing water everywhere.* Sloppy?! Sonic do you have any idea how well you fought?

Well we ended up cut and bruised and you ended up stabbed…so…not well.

You were incredible! At one point I was so caught up watching you that I almost forgot I was supposed to be fighting with you.

*Sonic blushes and shakes his head, embarrassed. Shadow turns to face him properly, making eye contact to try and get Sonic to believe him*

Yeah? *Sonic cages Shadow against the sink with his arms, trapping him there. Shadow flushes, looking down to Sonic’s mouth before returning his gaze to Sonic’s*

Good. *Sonic leans in and catches Shadow in a kiss, which is quickly enthusiastically returned. Shadow loops his arms around Sonic’s shoulders to pull him closer, Sonic’s hands settle on Shadow’s waist. After a minute they part, both blushing deeply*

Uh…cameras. I sort of…forgot.

*Shadow blinks, momentarily dazed* Yes. I did too.

Alone, Deaton finally tells Liam the real reason he asked him to stay behind.

Theo looks at the floor and he's glad he's too cold to blush of embarrassment. There's the impulse to leave and he so desperately wants to. He thinks he should leave, should've left a while ago. He should've kept his damn mouth shut. This is worse than death. Almost worse than Tara.

“Why didn't you say something?” Liam practically screams in his ears as soon as Deaton tells him the only thing that helps Theo is… well… Liam. “You've been like this for what, weeks?”

“More like months.” Theo chuckles nervously but Liam punches him in the arm. “Ow! What the fuck!”

“Asshole! We're friends, you need to tell me when you're sick, dumbass!”

A warm buzzing spreads under the skin of his arm and it's almost pleasant. Theo wants to roll his eyes at his own body's reactions.

“Yes, well,” Deaton clears his throat to make them focus on him again, “the important thing is that we can do something about it now. I'd like for you to try and stay close as much as possible… without killing each other.” He looks at Theo's arm where Liam just punched him and sends them an annoyed glare. He then turns to Liam. “Nothing too drastic. The point is simply to check if his temperature will eventually go up. So take it slow just in case Theo loses consciousness again: sitting on the same couch, sleeping on the same bed, stuff like that.”

Theo chokes on a single word. “Bed?”

Liam loses a few shades.

“It would be inefficient to miss such an opportunity. 8 hours of close contact would be perfect considering you're not in school anymore, Theo.”

Theo deliberately does not look at Liam. “Yeah but… I mean…”

“Okay,” Liam finally says.

“Okay? No, this is weird, you don't have to do anything, I-”

“Of course, I'll do it. I want to help. You're obviously in pain!” Liam cuts him off and Theo looks at him, baffled. “I don't want you to die… or live in permanent torture.” Liam's expression becomes increasingly softer and he averts his eyes. “...idiot.”
