“What the fuck?”

Sainz exclaimed to his race engineer in confusion as he exits the pit lane. He starts zooming into the track, now past the Mercedes who is—was—in third place.

A low static was heard before a voice from the other side of the line spoke. “Yeah, um, that was a five second penalty for crossing the white line when you entered the pit earlier.”

“And Y/N was the one to report?” he asks, eyebrows furrowed.

“Yep, she said she thinks you went off limits so they reported it.”

“Fucking hell. What is she, the FIA rulebook or something?”

His race engineer can sense the frustration in his voice. “I agree that was not a move we appreciate especially coming from her but we gotta keep our head in the race. It's already said done so we just got to keep pushing, okay?”

Carlos can only sigh in defeat. “Yep, okay. Copy,” he responds. Then, he let go of the button.

He continues to get his wheels hot on the track. 263. 289. 310. Right now he really is just ramming the pedal with a force he don't know he physically could be capable of until this moment.

Well, one can suppose anger really works wonders, especially for a guy like him who was supposed to be leading the damn race right now.

To get things straight, he isn't mad because of the penalty per se. He knew it was his mistake. Carlos is mad because of the fact that his own teammate, you, would be the one to snitch on him.

But who is he kidding? This animosity between the two of you has only been growing since the day you locked eyes with one another in the Porsche executive room a few months ago. People think it's because of your competitive nature. The real reason behind it though, well, only the two of you knows.

He sharply steers his wheel to the right, attempting to overtake by going for the inside. Come turn 10 and he is now speeding past the papaya-colored car that was in front of him earlier, earning P2 along the way.

Finally. He can see the back of your car now. Ten more laps and it will all be over.

He momentarily lets go of the gas pedal.

A second.

Two.

Three.

Then, he slams his foot back onto it.

Lap No. 58 • Place: 2nd

Of course he catches up.

You looked at your side mirror and the image of his car only seem to get bigger and bigger as seconds pass by.

“How much is my gap from Sainz?” you asked. Static crackles in your ear before you got a response.

“One point five seconds,” your race engineer answered.

Close, but not quite. Only eight more laps.

“Okay, copy.”

“Y/N, Carlos is mad. Said he did not appreciate what you did with the report back there.”

“It's his own fault. He made the error, he should face the consequences.”

“Just warning you to be safe; he is hot on your tail as of the moment.”

“Sure, thanks.”

You release your hold of the radio button and once again looked at your side mirror. It doesn't look like one point five seconds if you're being fucking honest. In all actuality, it looks like he's about to slam his nose to your rear any time now.

Except you won't let him, no.

Lap No. 66 • Place: 1st

You manage to hold him off for the past seven laps despite him closing in fast due to the soft tyres he got when he pitted earlier. It's the last lap and he's only half a second behind you. Wait, scratch that. He's still half a second behind you. You continue to defend the inside, knowing that it's what he always goes for when overtaking.

You enter the last sector with a newfound sense of pride. You can almost see the checkered flag now. Almost taste the sweet, sweet victory on your tongue. But then. But then shit happens.

You don't know how the fuck, but Carlos is now wheel to wheel with you after turn 13.

Fucking soft tyres. Can't compete with a soft tyre when I have a medium one which hasn't been replaced in the past 28 laps!

You turn your head to his direction only to see him already looking at you. Even with a helmet on, you can see, feel, his smirk. His very, very insultingly sexy smirk. You never got the urge to smash his pretty face more than right now. And then, just then and there, he does something very very unexpected: he waves at you.

The next thing you know, you're in the DRS zone, he overtakes you by going for the outside, and he's the new race leader. On the last turn. Of the last lap. And then and then and then, like a dream come true, except the dream is actually a nightmare: he gets to the checkered flag first.

He wins.

And you lose to him.

Again.

You, however, are still here. You walk under the orange-colored sky, taking in the mesmerizing hue of the natural canvas above you. The warm, gentle breeze softly kisses your face. You think of the race. Then the previous race and the one before that. The season. Your future. Your past. You think of everything and anything and inevitably end up thinking about . . . Ugh.

And of course, as if he read your mind, his figure—one so familiar to you you even see it vividly in your dreams sometimes—catches your eye.

There he was on a secluded corner, standing tall and... not alone. Even with the veil of the dusk, you can still see some action going on, like: 1) how his hands are frantically moving; and 2) how his lips, the lips you used to call home, is on another woman's.

fourgate - The foreshadowing of the number 4 in stranger things

moots who are following me for little while longer will know that I am obsessed with the number 4 in Stranger Things.

And while during all my findings I was struggling to see a pattern I think I finally cracked the code... Well mostly at least.

I will split this in parts. Because it's way easier for me to do it season for season.

Fair warning: I am just a human and as of now I didn't made a full rewatch so there is a big chance that this analysis will miss some mentions of the number 4. I tried to include as much as I remembered so just lean back and enjoy!

General

The number 4 is generally a bad sign in the show. Obviously since S4 we can connect the number 4 with Vecna/One/Henry because 4 chimes, 4 kills, 4 gates. But the number was a bad thing way before we learned about him and his plan.

This analysis will cover mostly obvious mentions of the number. Mentions meaning showing the number in for- or background or a character talking about this number. I will only concentrate on those (mostly). There are a lot of subtile mentions in the blurry background, digit-sums or as part of a number. I won't cover those (for now) because for that I would have to rewatch ST completly at half speed. And as of right now I don't have the time to do it so I will concentrate on this for now.

The number generally foreshadows something bad happening in some more or less immediate response after the mention. More or less immediate means that it can be directly afterwards but also take a while. The scenes will always be in direct connection between showing/telling of the number and the bad thing happening but it's possible that longer scenes and cuts are between the mention and the bad thing happening. (You will know what I mean)

Season 1

So let's get started with season 1. You may wonder, if the number 4 plays a huge role in Season 1. And yeah it definitely does.

The very first time the number is directly mentioned is in this scene

The party had to end their campaign and Will, Dustin and Lucas are leaving. Dustin talks about how Nancy has a stick up her butt and that she used to be cool because she did dress up for campaign. And Mike responded with Four years ago.

And hopefully you remember in what bad thing this mentioned resulted.

Do I need to say more?

This is what I mean when I say less immediate. The scene with the mention is directly connected to the bad thing.

Just wanna add that there are two honorable mentions of the number 4 in this scene.

First when we get told that Will needs to roll a 13 (digit sum 4) to defeat the demogorgon and later when Will wants X-men issue 134 as reward for winning the race against Dustin.

The second Time the number 4 is very obviously shown is in E3. When "Will's" Body is found in the quarry. THIS is the reason I started to dig into this number!

Again. Every fan on here knows what comes next, don't you?

So let's get ready for the third.

Looking at this scene you may ask what bad is coming in more or less immediate context. And I get what you mean but let me explain okay.

Yes, yes I know there are a lot of things happening between Dustin saying he joined the party in 4th grade and Mike jumping from the cliff. BUT it's still in direct connection. Mike and Dustin are on their way to find El in the scene where Dustin mentions the number 4. El destroys the door in the grocery store. Mike and Dustin search for her in the woods and then they get hunted by Troy and James. It's takes it time but it's still in one context.

The one's shown above were very obvious mentions. The following one's are more subtile but I still count them for this analysis,

Yes it's not directly the number itself but 4 paws are not coincidentally. (Have tigers 4 paws I don't know). This "Mention" is resulting in the Demogorogon coming through this Wall.

Soooo this is the last of the love letter, I really must reiterate how thankful I am to the people who responded to my message. EIJI OTORI

Eiji Otori is another member of HEAVENS and he is a down-to-earth type of character. One can say he is a cinnamon roll as he looks out for HEAVENS and his brother, Eiichi. Eiji talks in a formal manner to people outside of HEAVENS and addresses them by their surname like the time he worked with Tokiya for Mighty Aura, or when he was working with Camus and Masato for Feather in Hand. Around HEAVENS, Eiji talks casually, calling them by their first name. He is very mindful of other members of HEAVENS and Eiji keeps an open mind for ways to improve his skills as an idol and to help out his bandmates come to a solution where both sides agree. Eiji speaks very fondly of the people he works with formality and a lot of respect.

What I love about Eiji is his relationship with his brother, Eiichi Otori. The two have a strong bond as Eiichi looked after and took care of Eiji when growing up. The two of them are inseparable and do a lot together while looking after each other. Personally, their sibling bond is what I wish to have with my sibling as well, even though we're complete opposites like day and night! Their interactions are easily seen throughout the anime, you can even see their sibling bond show the most through HEAVENS Radio as Eiichi and Eiji are the co-hosts. If there is anything that I'd like to know more about Eiji, it would be about his hobby, gardening. He has a lot of knowledge on plants and perhaps agriculture. It'd be nice to see HEAVENS talk about their hobbies one day. But all in all, Eiji is a great character that I appreciate with a heart of gold!

Eiji Otori, the 4th member of HEAVENS is one of my two most favorite characters in Utapri. I was originally drawn to his kind and gentle demeanor, that made him such an easily lovable character. He was introduced in the 4th season of the anime in the cross idol unit episodes. The way he treated Tokiya besides knowing he was part of the rival idol group ended up becoming an essential part of Tokiya’s later character growth. Although Eiji is meant to be a foil for Tokiya’s character their personalities are completely polar opposites, their devotion to wanting to be an idol being one of the only similarities besides level headedness. Eiji is his own character, right down the way he speaks to the way he sings. Eiji seems to always carry the group in a loving and family-like way, even going as far as having domestic hobbies like gardening and baking. We always see him and even hear the way he interacts with the other members of HEAVENS on the radio show as if they were an inseparable family. Eiichi, his older brother and the leader of HEAVENS loves him in a way that is so complex but Eiji will always love him back with every fiber of his being to the deepest parts of his soul. There is a deep connection between the brothers that is so beautiful that even poetry couldn’t express, it’s more profound then words can show. It’s a bond they share that only they know, like a secret.

However, even then there is so much more about Eiji that makes him such a wonderful character. When it comes to myself, Eiji hits a bit close to home in a more personal way. Perhaps that is also a factor in why I love him so much. I empathize with him and I can see through his eyes in ways only a younger sibling would know. As a younger sister to a sibling who has always been in the spotlight in some form of way with a big presence, I always lived in her shadow, but I admired her and cared about her above anything else. The way Eiji feels about Eiichi is something that I can personally relate with and understand. Eiichi is an essential part of Eiji’s character and the anime does not lack to show this, nor does it lack to show that Eiji is just as much an essential part of Eiichi’s character. It’s more obvious in the radio show that is hosted by the two brother but it’s not fully ignored either in the anime. I love how Eiji interacts with all of the characters, and seems to find ways to treat everyone with kindness even if they aren’t kind to him in return. He admires those who show a deep love for the things he does, and respects those who are more experienced then he is. He’s always eager to learn

and please. He’s the kind of person you’d always want around and you’d want a hug when things get rough. Eiji is definitely the most pure hearted character of all the Utapri characters. And, I’ll always stand by that through and through.

VAN KIRYUIN

Kiryuin Van. Where to start? He’s cocky. He’s cocky as all hell. There’s something in his air that is poised yet undignified. Childish yet mature. The man is founded on juxtaposition, not dissimilar to a painting of Picasso. His ability to be unique in an industry that begs for individuality, to rise above a tidal wave of competition and stand apart from other fish in the sea, is awe-inspiring. Expectation is dead to him; though the oldest member of Heavens, the weight of bearing the role as ‘most mature’ or the ‘parent’ of the group couldn’t be further from his concern. He is only any dimension of himself he wants to be at any given time. Dumb bitch by morning, bad bitch by night. Much like his bandmates, his confidence and intimidating aura is unwavering. He claims his victory before a race begins, and I couldn’t say if that undying faith in oneself is a skill or a sin. Whatever it is, he owns it. Also, he’s hot. He’s very appealing to the human eye. His ruggedness reminds me of a warm blanket in winter. His voice, oh his voice. If the world was about to blow up and he just said “No it won’t”, in his own way, I think I’d believe him. Regardless of what he says being juvenile or mature, he’s always authentic. No sugar coats, no little white lies, only genuity. As just said before, he is who he is and wouldn’t change for anyone if it wasn’t in his own best interest. Who couldn’t love a guy like that?

Where do I begin when it comes to Yamato? It took me a while to actually like him. At first, I wasn’t a fan of how he was when he first showed up in the anime. I still remember when Yamato was one of the few HEAVENS members people really didn’t like or care much for, next to Eiichi and Nagi.

I used to be one of those people too with Yamato. I found him to be very stubborn, but over time after listening to HEAVENS Radio; The Drama CDs; Watching Maji Love Kingdom, etc… I came to realize there’s so much more to him.

I’ve learned a lot more about him, especially through role-playing as him, and my love for Yamato skyrocketed. Even with all the new content that’s been coming out for HEAVENS lately like Black Garden and Endless Score, my love grows even more every day. Yamato sneaked his way up to being one of my best boys.

Yamato is HEAVENS’ Strongest member. (Seriously, how the heck does this boy train everyday and do so much of it?!) He’s not always aggressive and violent. He’s actually a really thoughtful person who cares about his friends a lot, even being very protective of them. Yamato is the kind of person that’ll immediately stop what he’s doing, and only think about how to help the other person feel better.

A lot of things tend to be overlooked for him cause of how he’s written in the anime, and there’s fans who only pay attention to that. Not even giving the extra content a thought or a single glance.

As Ryuya’s younger brother, Yamato has his own insecurities, especially since he’s always seen as just a shadow. He’s been trapped in darkness where he feels he’s not good enough to be appreciated and loved as his own person. He doesn’t know what to do and which path to take. Yamato only became an idol just to defeat and finally be better than Ryuya at something. I feel that goal is still there, but it’s not a major one like before. Now, Yamato has people like the other members of HEAVENS, the angels, and the other idols. He found his light and happiness.

Overall, Yamato is the kind of person he wants everyone to be proud of. He wants to always share his strongest power and energy, carrying the burden of everybody’s smiles. Wanting to see those around him happy and be the best they can be.

Another part that I really like about Yamato is whenever he gets embarrassed. I can’t help, but find that really cute cause it’s something we don’t see or hear out of him a lot.

There’s also the times he demonstrates how much he loves food. Even though he overeats and knows he can’t help it when he’s hungry, I really liked when Yamato stated that if eating makes you happy, go for it. Just make sure you train afterwards to burn off calories. It helps people feel good about themselves.

Even the times when Yamato struggles with difficult words, specifically English and kanji. It’s embarrassing for him to admit, but he knows he’s not good at that sort of thing. What I really like about this is HEAVENS is always willing to help him, even Tokiya and Cecil. They help keep things simple and easy for Yamato to understand.

There’s a lot you can say I just simply vibe with when it comes to Yamato, and I love him. Hope everyone enjoys this long appreciation of this strong boy, and I hope you all love him too!

When I saw Shion for the first time, he caught my attention with his beautiful appearance. His cream-white hair, his periwinkle eyes and his pale skin were a wonderful combination that I just couldn't ignore. Physically, he was exactly the type of character I love… Even his hairstyle is great! And what to say about his pretty face! To me, he looked like an angel.

His style in clothes is something I also like about him. With all this mixed, the only word I can use to describe him is "perfect".

But, of course, there's more than just physical appearance. Shion's way of speaking, as we all know, is quite… Particular. And those beautiful words made me be more interested in this boy, even if they were a bit difficult to understand. This characteristic is something that, in my opinion, makes him special, not only in his group but among all the groups.

That poetic way of speaking is a beautiful combination with his voice. When he speaks I find it so mystical… And when he sings his solo songs I feel relaxed and even a bit emotional. He's not an angel just physically, he also sings like one!

But what made me love him completely was his personality. To be honest, at first I didn't understand why he acted so hostile to Cecil and signed with him, but when it was explained later I could see his point of view and I felt sorry for him, for how he was feeling and the big sacrifice he was making if we take into account his thoughts.

Loyalty is something I value a lot, and Shion has a huge loyalty towards his friends. After that incident, he changes his way of thinking and he starts getting more friendly to the rest, something I find beautiful.

I also find him very cute, an extra point for me to like him. His -sometimes- childish attitude is adorable! And how he acts around his friends… So lovely!

I also feel a bit similar to him in some aspects, such as listening to the same song again and again, liking birds or even usually feeling sleepy, besides other things. These similarities make me feel connected in some way with him.

Shion is a very special character for me, and I can't wait to see more content about him, to know more about this wonderful boy, for example, about his family, where he is from, how he ended up in HEAVENS, how he started to speak the way he does… There are a lot of things we don't know yet and I hope we can get more information about Shion soon!

What was the first moment or scene that made you suspect or realize Will can alter reality? 🙋🏾‍♂️

Hi, anon. :) I think it wasn’t 1 thing in particular but an amalgamation of things. S3 was probably what made everything ‘click’ in my mind. But there were A LOT of things in prior seasons that made me scratch my head - such as the connection/parallels of certain human/nonhuman characters to Will. And I was trying to figure out-what the narrative explanation was for all of this.

But I think what made me think of Will altering reality ...was  mostly how the media Will consumed affected the supernatural plot specifically .  And how the mf was connected to Will’s emotional state and “Will the wise”.Of course this is all unconscious on Will’s part-and he’s unaware. I won’t mention outside film inspos just what’s in the show- for this post.

s1: the demogorgans are connected to Will playing the game.Like how rolling the 7 in d&d caused him to be captured by the demogorgan in the game and real life. And how in the game the demogorgan is attracted to blood so it is irl. The weakness of the demogorgan being fire. And in a s1flashback- Will mentions Will the wise using fire powers against the bad guys. Duffers (in interviews) and Nancy saying the demogrogan was like a shark- and Will has a Jaws poster in his room. And in s1, Will watches poltergeist and is thrust into the same scenario as the little girl (being trapped in another dimension- where the mothers can only hear their voices and communicate to them through electronics ). The fact Will can mess with electronics similar to other psychics, and the monsters.In s1 Mr clarke describes the vale of shadows (later the upsidedown) as being created by “necrotic” (’dead’-zombie boy) and “shadow” (shadow monster/mf) magic.  

s2/3: Mike says he was Venkman. And Will is thrust into the same scenario as Venkman’s love interest.Dana finds a demon-dog in her fridge, and hires the ghost busters. And right before Venkman goes on a date with her she is possessed by the big-bad, Zuul, and is transformed into the gate-keeper (who controls demo(n)-dogs). Venkman proceeded to try to talk to the real Dana , ignoring her possessed form and eventually realizes how serious her condition is, is forced to sedate her. Eventually with the help of his team, Venkman closes the gate to Zuul’s dimension, rescuing Dana in the process. 

-In s2 Will also plays dig dug which is about underground mazes- so the supernatural underground caves are made in s2. And it’s a callback to the s1 d&d game with “troglodytes “ (cave men). And in s3 the Russians had the underground lab too - sort of being the troglodytes in a way.

-Will is called ‘zombie boy’ and in s3 when Will watches a zombie movie and writes a d&d story about juju zombies- the mf creates zombies and creates a monster resembling the thing (because when Will was writing his d&d story he was next to the ‘the thing’ poster in s3). When Mike hijacks Will’s d&d story saying ‘they’ll torch the chambers, sacrificing themselves killing the juju ’. Will gets angry and yells “Fine, you win.” And then Joyce and Hopper do just that- when they pull the lever, and Hopper ‘dies’ sacrificing himself, and the Russians literally are eviscerated.

-Will says ‘will the wise’ is a wizard ( writing on a music tape in s3 “will the wise-wizard mix’ and having his password for castle byers be ‘rhadaghast’- a lotr wizard.) In d&d Mindflayers are created by inserting a slug in a humanoid (like Will at the end of s1). And similar to Will’s s3 d&d story-Will says in s2 the mf drawing was for a story he was writing (which isn’t exactly the truth, but close to what is happening).The way they describe d&d Wizards matches Will/mf perfectly “Wizards are adepts and magicians . wizards are able to create spells of explosive fire, sparking lightning, subtle deception, and gross mind control. Their magic summons monsters from other planes of existence, predicts the future, and turns defeated enemies into zombies. Their most powerful spells can transform one substance into another, summon meteors from the sky, and open portals to other worlds”. Dustin says the mf uses it’s “highly developed psyionic powers for mindcontrol.” Nancy in s2 says: “So this thing is like a brain that’s controlling everything.” And accidentally calls the mind-flayer the mind-flamer ( WW had fire power).Hopper then says “So how do we kill this thing shoot it with fireballs?”And Dustin says “ No, No, fireballs you summon an undead army.”Referencing Will (fire)and foreshadowing of the zombie-esque people Will caused in s3.But Mike actually nails it on the head when he says, “If the brain dies the body dies … closing the gate will kill him(referring to Will).Because it’s not the mindflayers’ brain - it’s Will’s brain- that both Will and the mf share! 

Joyce  describes the tunnels Will draws as “like lightning” (a power Will the wise was shown to have in s1  and mf has in s2).And note in s1 we are told Lonnie taught Will baseball (and this was when Jon told Will not to mimic him)- and suspiciously there is a baseball and baseball-mitt next to the ‘shadow monster’ (mf) drawing in s2, and a bat (next to the ww drawing in castle byers in s3). Cause mf= ww.  Will lies and says the mf is just a sketch for a story he’s writing- but even if that’s not exactly true. The mf is still something he unconsciously created. And the mf comes in s2 during Will’s PTSD “anniversary effect” and in s3 everytime Will is thinking of his romantic feelings for Mike (why the mf shows up in the summer despite light being his weakness). 1st time it’s on one of their ‘movie dates’, 2nd time when Will is sad when Mike and El walk off together down the hill to make-out, , 3rd time right after he smashed castle byers after Mike says “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls”, 4th time (after the fight with Mike) when Billy is yelling to open the door (a trigger) and confides in Mike, 5th time when Mike asks him to go away so he can talk to El in the hospital waiting area, and 6th time when Mike says he loves El. 

-Susie in s3 references the ‘A wizard of Eathsea’ -it’s about a male wizard Ged (Will) who casts a powerful spell, but the spell goes awry and instead he releases a shadow creature! The new Archmage, Gensher, describes the shadow as an ancient evil that wishes to possess Ged. But the ‘shadow’ turns out  to be a representation of the darkest aspects of his personality. And the only way for the chaos to stop is for ged and the shadow to merge.

-‘the dark crystal’ movie poster in Mike’s room is about a race called urSkeks who inadvertently divided themselves into two separate beings; the violent, materialistic Skeksis, and the gentle, contemplative urRu. It was only when they merged back together as one could harmony and peace be restored to the world.

-��Montauk Project’- The original title for Stranger things was “Montauk”- in reference to the Montauk Project. Where Duncan could “open portals to other dimensions-  and lets loose a monster from his subconscious.”

- In s1 Hopper says he likes the book cujo , that one of the guards is reading, and at the end of the book they replace the dog Cujo with a dog named Willie. A ref to Will creating the demo-dogs. The fact in s2 Chester (Will’s dog) died at the same time the demo-dogs appeared is probably not a coincidence.

- Susie has a wizard of oz poster & in s2 when murray mentions the supernatural he references the movie.He references Wizard of Oz by saying “people don’t like looking behind the curtain” (in the movie what was behind the curtain was a wizard-Will).

-in s3 Will & El parallel (sebastian & Atreyu from neverending story). Which Dustin references in s3.“Atreyu (who was deemed the ‘chosen one) is thrown  into the sea of possibilities (beach in cali). There he wakes on the shore of abandoned ruins (junkyard for El). There Gmork (The Mindflayer) reveals himself, having been lying in wait.He explains that Fantasia represents humanity’s imagination and is thus without boundaries, while the Nothing is a manifestation of the loss of hopes and dreams. And then latches his jaws onto Atreyu’s leg (like what happened to El).The Empress in the story later tells Atreyu, that despite being told he was the chosen one (he never was). And that it was always Bastian (Will) who was the chosen one -that could save them, all along! And that Atreyu’s (El’s) story, and “others” (the rest of the st cast) are following Bastian’s (Will’s) story all along, making them all part of his neverending story. The Empress tells Bastian that he has the power to save them using his imagination.”*Bastian has a bowl cut, appears to be a normal human, and from a single parent house hold. Bastian even temporarily goes evil after he loses his memories (just like Will).

IT ALL CONNECTS BACK TO WIIL!

* There’s also A LOT more evidence - like the many other correlations/parallels/eastereggs to Will and other human characters (El, Kali, Terry, Brenner, Max, Billy, Hopper, Alexi, Etc) who I believe Will created. As well as the parallels to Lonnie and the demogrogan(which in d&d is called “the deep father”).  I recommend reading my THEORY HERE for all that other evidence. It also includes the cited inspos  for the show there too (which i didn’t mention in this post). It’s a very long post-but I believe worth reading.

(A/N: For the follower milestone event! This ficlet was requested and based on my 2018 summer fic Paradiso. Thank you so so much @won-markiepooh-woo for your excellent beta-ing skills. This ficlet takes place after the events and epilogue of Paradiso, where Jaehyun and Y/N are both happily married and doing rich people things :))

Miss Ada Thomsworth stared surreptitiously around the canopied tent of the Royal Enclosure, sipping on a mimosa while the fans hum noisily in the background. This is the 3rd year the young socialite has attended the Royal Ascot, a premier racing event in the UK, with her second husband, Oliver. Well, soon to be second ex-husband.

Oliver is far too occupied with trying the curry flavors of the MP’s (members of Parliament), who were currently gathered at the event. None of them look very pleased at the weedy young man trying to lobby for a tax bill, especially when they were trying to relax and bet on the horses.

Ada sighed in defeat, as she drummed her fingers on top of the table. Dear, sweet Oli was easy to lure into marriage. But, despite being the son of a major British financier, he was socially inept and prone to stepping on people’s feet: physically and figuratively. Soon enough, Oliver would offend the Queen and her social standing would be ruined.

Unfortunately, the Royal Ascot was no place to go husband-hunting. With the scrutiny of the unforgiving press and the presence of British royalty, Ada could not use her feminine wiles to sink her claws into some unfortunate, loaded bloke.

However, cheers from the entrance of the tent drew the beautiful blonde woman’s attention. Her liddedneyes caught sight of a well-built young man: tall, broad-shouldered and dressed in the mandatory morning suit. He greeted Henry Abbott and his Korean wife, Soo Ah, while distinguished members of the peerage swarmed to greet him. She caught a glimpse of his brown hair and pale skin, paired with high cheekbones, and the realization clicked into place.

Jung Jaehyun. An unusual, old money foreigner.

Unlike the nouveau-riche Chinese or Koreans that swarmed the UK after the 2000’s, Jaehyun’s family has been well-connected to the British society since the 70’s. His aunt, Soo Ah, married Henry Abbott in 1987, whom was an Earl very close to the royal family. Jaehyun was even more well-connected after attending Eton and then Oxford, consorting with the global elite that previously attended these prestigious schools.

Ada could remember the gossip that surrounded his first marriage with that damnable Carolina Xue. They married far too quickly and privately. She wondered if the bitch had gotten pregnant with Jaehyun, but, after 2 years and no baby, she had to conclude her suspicions weren’t true.

However, she wouldn’t have been surprised. Carolina had been a type-A bitch in finishing school and none of the truly respectable sort liked her. There were vicious, vicious rumors that wondered how someone like Carolina Xue snatched up someone like Jung Jaehyun.

Then they divorced.

The blonde socialite truly could not remember what had happened during the time since she was in a “medical spa” for rehab. Later, she’d heard Carolina’s parents were furious, demanding a ridiculous amount for alimony. Meanwhile, Jaehyun’s conservative Korean parents were still not on proper speaking terms with him.

It’s a shame, really. Ada would’ve tried to snatch him up, if his parents were still talking to him and he hadn’t married again so quickly.

Ah, there she is. Y/N L/N. Ada’s red lips turned up in a snarl as she stared at the woman’s beautiful peach-colored tea dress that wrapped around her shape like a second skin. To the socialite, in many ways, Y/N was worse than Carolina. Ada remembered her from boarding school as well. She was wicked smart, charming, and rich; yet, she never tried to be wanted--unlike Ada, the forgettable daughter of a minor Baron. She’s constantly had to grasp and cling onto what she wanted, while Y/N easily floated through life.

Secretly, she felt a sort of vindictive glee when the couple were completely ostracized by the conservative, old biddies that ruled the social scene. Those old women did not invite the newly-wed couple to many events and today’s Royal Ascot was the first major social event of the season they had attended since they first got married. It was only by the grace of his Uncle and assorted colleagues that he was sponsored for a membership with the Royal Enclosure.

“My god, is that the Jung boy and that L/N girl? Showing their faces here?” Ada’s seatmate, Oliver’s mother, sneered as she ate her 4th scone of the morning.

“Dear me, it is! Look, Carolina was and still is an utter cow, but that kind of thing is simply not done. What happened to the days where you worked together? Kids these days! Hmph! They seem to divorce at the drop of a hat!” another woman nearby commented, waving her fan. As Ada felt their eyes on her, she felt herself sinking into her seat.

Jaehyun’s aunt, Soo Ah, overheard the comments and rolled her eyes. What sort of issue did they have? Jaehyun and Y/N were educated at good schools and had impeccable manners. Both were from respectable families with clean reputations. Besides that, they were both deeply in love.

A grin lifted her lips, as she spotted Jaehyun speaking softly to his new wife with secret smiles on their faces. Perhaps the two didn’t quite have the overwhelming atmosphere that usually surrounded newly-wed couples, but anyone who had been in love themselves could feel their deep affection in their bones.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Jaehyun was not, in fact, speaking words of affection in his beloved’s ear.

“God, you don’t know what you do to me in that dress of yours. When I lift your prim and proper dress, will your underwear be prim and proper as well?” Jaehyun growled softly, his lips brushing the edge of your ear.

You felt heat rise to your cheeks and and bite your tongue. “Not now, Jaehyun. Prince William is literally right there!”

He chuckled softly, moving a strong arm around your waist. “You forget he attended Eton like me, sweetheart. An Etonian would never blab on another fellow. He wouldn’t mind.”

You sighed in defeat and moved your head to lean against his shoulder, the boutunniere’s fresh scent wafting to your nose. “You and your mysterious English ways, dear husband.”

Under your hands, you could feel his toned chest rumble in laughter. “You love me for them, dear wife. Now, stop avoiding my question.” 

You lifted your head up and grinned far too smugly. “Who says I’m wearing any underwear?”

⚽️ 15': GOAL Curtis Jones (15') (0-1) - Classy goal that. Quality hold-up play by Minamino and the through-ball from Chirivella is superb. Jones does the rest after making a fine run from deep. No stopping that. Too good.

🗣 20': Chirivella's passing really is impressive. Now he attempts an ambitious chip over O'Leary but it is blocked. The midfielder doing well so far and he has plenty of movement ahead of him

What Just Happened?

· The 2018 New Orleans Saints are not an enigma anymore, they’re a team on a mission. Could it be the so-called 2017 “Minneapolis Miracle” that is fueling this bunch? Is it the sting of the week one puzzling loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Or could it simply be that this is a damn good football team gaining confidence win after win? Whatever it is, the Saints (7-1) have won seven games in a row and just defeated the high-powered and previously undefeated Los Angeles Rams to gain a crucial tiebreaker over the aforementioned Rams in the NFC playoffs race.

In their 45-35 win over the Rams yesterday, the Saints once again displayed all the qualities we’ve seen from them this season: an offense that can score at will, but also one that will score when it most sorely needs to. A defense that will bend and bend but rarely completely break. A unit that is finally starting to cause turnovers, be it on downs or by taking the ball away.

After eight games, the Saints are not just a contender in the NFC: they’re a downright scary team that can beat you in multiple ways and doesn’t seem phased by playing on the road (4-0) or in the friendly confines of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (3-1). After eight games, let’s stop beating around the bush: the 2018 New Orleans Saints are a Super Bowl contender.

Five Numbers...That Don’t Lie

· 211. Michael Thomas’ receiving yards yesterday afternoon, the Saints’ franchise record for receiving yards in a single game. Thomas is having an amazing season to date, with 70 receptions on 79 targets (a preposterous 88.6% reception rate). He already has 880 reception yards (4th in the NFL) and 5 touchdowns. The Saints’ third-year wide receiver is becoming a superstar in front of our very eyes.

Thomas also had a terrible-yet-awesome celebration yesterday, when he scored his game-clinching touchdown and pulled a cellphone from below the goal post and paid homage to former Saints wide receiver Joe Horn, who pulled that stunt in 2003. Would someone please remind Michael to do that at a moment when the Saints are ahead by like 28 points though? Thank you Mike.

· 90. The Saints’ percentage on fourth down so far this season, after going 2-for-2 against the Rams yesterday. New Orleans has gone for it on fourth down 10 times in 2018 they have converted 9 of them. That is tied for the lead in the NFL and is what you call deadly efficiency.

What this number tells us is that the Saints are not only aggressive in their design to keep crucial drives alive, they are also calling the right plays and going for it on reasonable distances. What that does is put an unbelievable amount of pressure on opposing defenses, as they know that facing the Saints could mean “four-down territory” at any moment of the game. This is the kind of play calling that will help a team win seven games in a row.

· 3. Alvin Kamara scored 3 touchdowns yesterday against the Rams and joined an elite company in NFL history, in none other than legendary former NFL running back Jim Brown. Indeed, Kamaraand Brown are the only running backs in NFL history 23 or younger to record three games in a single season with 3+ touchdowns. Kamara also had 3 touchdowns in week one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and three touchdowns on September 30 against the New York Giants. With eight games to go, it is not far-fetched to think that the prolific Kamara could break that record before the season is over.

· 1. Linebacker Alex Anzalone’s NFL career interception came at a most opportune moment for the Saints. With time winding down in the first half and the Rams trailing 28-14, Los Angeles had the ball, trying to go down the field and narrow the Saints’ lead to 7 or at worse 11 points. Jared Goff, under pressure, unloaded a pass down the middle from his own 25-yard line. Anzalone lunged towards the ball and intercepted it, twisting himself as he fell to the ground to ensure that the ball wouldn’t be dislodged and ruled an incomplete pass.

The Saints would need only about 30 seconds to find the end zone and make it a 35-14 game. At that moment the game looked to become a laughter. Little did the Saints know how important that touchdown would turn out to be.

· 0. The number of sacks that the Saints allowed to the Rams yesterday. Los Angeles came into the game against the Saints with 22 sacks on the season, nearly 3 sacks-per-game. Yet, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a defense that boasts the likes of Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suhand Michael Brockers couldn’t muster a single sack of Drew Brees.

In the last two games against two stout defenses in Minnesota and Los Angeles, the Saints did not give up one single sack. At only 9 sacks allowed so far this year, New Orleans unsurprisingly leads the NFL. Not only is the Saints’ offensive line a top unit in the NFL, Sean Payton’s scheme coupled with Brees’ quick release of the ball is second to none in the NFL.

Keep Your Enemies Closer

· What do you get for winning seven games in a row? A measly one game lead in your division. The Carolina Panthers are 6-2 after winning a 42-28 game against the Tampa Buccaneers, who at 3-6 look like they will finally settle as the bottom feeder in the NFC South this season. The Atlanta Falcons are (somewhat) back from the dead, recovering from their 1-4 start to win three in a row and get back to .500. With a game against the Cleveland Browns on the docket, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Atlanta get to 5-4 in a week. The division race is far from being determined, which is certainly going to keep the Saints focused on the task at end, which is winning their next game.

If the Playoffs Started Today

· At exactly the midway point of their season, the Saints (7-1) have the number two seed in the NFC, tied in the loss column with the Los Angeles Rams (8-1) who have played one more game than New Orleans. As the third seed in the conference we find the Chicago Bears (5-3) after a 41-9 dismantling of the woeful Buffalo Bills. Following in fourth place are the Washington Redskins(5-3) who were shellacked at home by the Atlanta Falcons (4-4). The fifth seed are the Panthers (6-2) who are lurking behind the Saints, and finally, the sixth seed are the Minnesota Vikings (5-3-1) who rebounded from their loss to the Saints last Sunday night to defeat the mediocre Detroit Lions 24-9.

· Should the playoffs start today, the Saints would enjoy a bye week, then play either the Bears, Redskins or Panthers in the divisional round of the playoffs.

· According to Fivethirtyeight.com, following their victory over the Rams, the New Orleans Saints have the third ELO Rating in the entire NFL. They have a 94% chance of making the playoffs, a 67% chance to win the NFC South, a 62% chance of earning a first round bye and a 16% chance of winning the Super Bowl. Pretty numbers, and they are going up with every win.

What’s Next?

· The Saints travel to Cincinnati next Sunday to face a 5-3 Bengals team coming off a bye. Cincinnati has been an inconsistent team, fresh off a 37-34 escape win over the Buccaneers two Sundays ago, their first win in the team’s last three games. On the other hand, playing on the road in the NFL is always a tall task, and the Bengals will be yet another team with a winning record on the Saints’ road to the division crown. Following yesterday’s thrilling win, the Saints do not have a lot of time to celebrate, not with the Panthers and the Falcons breathing down their neck. However, the way Sean Payton’s team has been playing since week two, it wouldn’t be a shock to see them improve their road-record to 5-0 next Sunday in Ohio. Enjoy what you’re witnessing Saints fan, this is rare stuff.

Saturday Night Must Be A Turning Point For Joel Embiid

“Embiid vs Jokic On Saturday Night is a watershed moment for 2023 MVP race”

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Brooklyn Nets by 137-134 and although the game lacked the presence of Kevin Durant, the Sixers still looked good, but with several creases that need to be ironed out before we can consider this team playoff ready, and more importantly, conference championship ready.

Tyrese Maxey’s continued development is nothing short of spectacular. He is every bit the 3rd/4th scorer we need on this team, his 27 points, 5 assista and 3 rebounds were as big a contribution as anyobe made in that win, and it’s nice to see him getting some love from the national media for his contributions.

The same cannot be said for the buddy, James Harden. I’ll keep it funky with you in saying that “I’m never happy to watch this guy play”, but his role in our offense can be a useful one, in as far getting to the freethrow line and slowing the pace of the game down, because when you’re at the freethrow line you’re not allowing opponents to score in transition.

James is finding that going to the rim is his best friend right now, 23 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds is decent return, and while he managed 5-10 from 3-point distance, there are issues, bro.

In the 4th quarter though, we almost let go of this game, we were not trying to get Joel in post-up position in the 4th quarter and you know what, it nearly backfired hard. 

Putting Joel in the post would help negate some of these dumb turnovers, where James is trying to pass to Joel, even when bro is surrounded by like 4 defenders.

And speaking of Joel, that 4th quarter put on display a lot of the things Hakeem Olajuwon was beefing about.

Joel putting himself in the low post also simplifies things for his teammates.

I don’t know if it’s because bro plays with Harden, or it’s the instructions from Doc Rivers but Joel Embiid’s aversion to going in to the low post needs to be dealt with once and for all..

I can’t understad why he thinks standing in the middle of a zone defense is the best way to break down defenses. 

It’s actually annoying to watch “floor general” James Harden commit these crazy turnovers with the goal of getting him to shoot stepback 3′s. We are literally one of the worst 4th quarter teams in the league, and it’s a shot selection issue.

It is what it is.

On Saturday night, when the 76ers play the Denver Nuggets, it’ll give Joel a chance to rectify some of these percieved slights.

For all intents and purposes, Nikola Jokic has been encroaching on this here “best center in the league” territory for a while now and to be honest, Joel needs to send a message here.

Outperforming Jokic in a game that will have the attention of the national media, and a game that will be the only NBA’s only airing in that time slot, will do wonders to remind the league just whose claim to best big in the league is most credible.

It needs to happen, because you know what hurts Embiid’s case? Not being a starter in this year’s all star game, for the 2nd year in a row!! 

Joel Embiid, who leads the league in scoring at 33.4 points per game, is not going to be a starter in the all-star game, for the 2nd year in a row.

That’s the extent that the Joel Embiid disrespect has gotten to. 

 Balling out against Jokic won’t be easy, and I doubt the Nuggets will opt to have Jokic guard Embiid 1-on-1 because that will not be advantageous. 

The Sixers guarding Nikola Jokic, will be a whole other affair completely, and while I trust Embiid’s athleticism to help negate Jokic, I do have my doubts that our team defense will be able to stop Jokic from diming passes and manipulating the entire floor. 

The Nuggets are currently 1st place in a very competetive Western conference, so this will no be an easy feat, while the Sixers can try to carry the confidence of a 6-game winning streak in to this upcoming game.

For Joel, the mandate is clear, play your best game of the season. Period

The Chelsea Manager Conundrum

Currently, Chelsea sit in fourth spot in the Premier League table, have the third best defence, are still in both the Europa League and the FA Cup and have a League Cup final to look forward to. Yet, Maurizio Sarri’s position as manager is by no means comfortable. How does that work?

Well, Chelsea aren’t like most clubs. Time is not a commonly traded commodity. Rarer than gold, Sarri’s doomsday timer is ticking. The timekeeper of Stamford Bridge, Guus Hiddink, forever in the shadows. Roman Abramovich, the all seeing, somewhat knowing towering figure looming over the touchline.

To think it started all so well for Sarri. After 11 league games, Chelsea were on 27 points, having scored 27 goals along the way, and were sitting pretty in 2nd place - albeit on goal difference ahead of Liverpool. Victory at home to Arsenal, as well as a draw with title contenders Liverpool, were two impressive results in a string of great performances from the high-flying Blues.

Fast forward three months and things aren’t looking so bright. After 11 games, Manchester United were sat in 7th and 7 points off Chelsea. Now only 2 points separate the sides, 2 points the difference between Champions League and Europa League next season. Not only have Chelsea fallen down the table and out of the title race, they’ve also dropped off dramatically in the goals department.

Chelsea had a goals per game ratio of 2.45 after the first 11 games. In the next 14, that average has declined to 1.64. The 1.64 even now looking a lot more generous off the back of a 5-0 home victory over Huddersfield, a team already resigned to relegation. Before that game, over the 13 game period, the goals per game ratio was 1.38.

While the sample size is small, that is still a dramatic fall from a rampant start to the season. Even accounting for it possibly being a honeymoon period off the back of a new managerial appointment, the difference is stark. This is by no means a regression to the mean.

This is also especially concerning for Sarri as he was brought into the club with the expectation that he would bring an attacking, free-flowing form of high-scoring football. His Napoli side that came very close to winning Serie A were averaging 2.11, 2.47 and 2.03 goals per game in his three seasons at the club.

These kind of failings have gotten managers sacked at Chelsea many times before. Saturday will mark 10 years to the day that Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked by the club. By the time Chelsea step out onto the Etihad pitch on Sunday they could already have slipped down to 6th place. While Sarri probably won’t be getting sacked quite so soon, it will only increase the pressure on his position at the club tenfold. Victory at the Etihad, however, would be an invaluable scalp. Having already beaten Pep Guardiola’s side at home earlier in the season, Chelsea will be hoping to find that level of performance once again.

Previous performances point to that being unlikely. Chelsea’s last away game, after all, was a 4-0 defeat to 10th place Bournemouth. Sarri’s comments after that game about being unable to motivate his side were incredible. Although his side did react by winning their next game 5-0, it was against the aforementioned Huddersfield - poor Huddersfield - this fixture against City will be the true test of Chelsea’s mettle.

Despite all of this, Sarri should take solace from his managerial opposition this weekend. Guardiola’s first season in English football was very similar to that of the Italian. After a blistering start that saw his Manchester City side top of the table after 10 games, with a 100% winning start, they fell apart and ultimately finished in 3rd place and 15 points off the title. For the first time in his managerial career, Pep was trophy-less.

During this period, Guardiola was often criticised for not adapting to the English game - whatever that is supposed to actually mean. This particularly came to the fore after a terrible performance saw his side lose 4-2 to the then relegation-threatened champions Leicester City. This was the birth of his famous “I don’t coach tackles” outburst. This saw the Catalan mocked mercilessly by the media.

Guardiola’s struggles wouldn’t end there. A 4-0 defeat at Goodison Park was ultimately the nadir in an awful season. But instead of ‘adapting,’ Guardiola doubled down on his belief that his way of playing football was the best. After a busy Summer that saw many players come and go, Guardiola led his side to a points record finish of 100 and a Premier League title in hand.

Sarri can also look to the other side competing for the title, Liverpool, for some hope. In Jürgen Klopp’s first season as manager of the Merseyside club, his side finished in 8th place and 21 points off the title. In his first full season, they were still only 4th and 17 points off the champions.

These two managers offer irrefutable proof that giving managers time can work out. If Manchester City and Liverpool didn’t stick by their managers when things weren’t going so well, would they now be locked into the fiercest title race the Premier League has seen in years?

So, when Chelsea take to the field on Sunday they may be in 6th place, but the short-term pain of missing out on Champions League football could be worth it for the long-term gain that Sarri may ultimately bring.

But are Chelsea capable of changing their ways and giving their manager the time necessary to make things work, or will the timekeeper be reeling in the years soon once more?

Lancey-Lance, THE TRUTH! (High Quality Meta)

Hello and welcome to my 100% canon and indisputable post on how Lance is a literal supernatural being. Is he a werewolf? Is he a vampire? Quite surely he is an alien? No, our Loverboy Lance is obviously Cupid. And this Cupid wants Shiro and Pidge to get together.

We are introduced to Lance at the beginning of the first episode (after the simulation scene) where he is in the process of sneaking out into town. His mission: Grab Pidge, Loosen Up, Meet Some Nice Girls. 

  At this point in the series Pidge hasn't revealed her true identity to either him or Hunk yet, so it's implied he wants Pidge to meet a girl there and have some fun. However, in the flashback Pidge has of first meeting the both of them

she clearly says "I don't have time to mess around with you guys" and blows them off. Even so, Lance tries very hard to be around her. When she sneaks out on her own Lance has the option to ditch, just leave with hunk. But instead he follows her.

And there they see a sight to behold

It's Shiro! His Hero!

Funny how we only see Lance and Pidge's heads off to the side. Anyway, stuff happens, they kidnap unconscious Shiro, but they need to get away fast! And who does Lance hand the Big Heavy Unconscious Guy to?

The smallest one, probably physically weakest one.

After all the boring "The Lion has chosen you as the new paladins to defeat this oppressive alien race that's killing other planets" thing (that's the main point of the show?? I guess???) Shiro and Pidge get to hang out and spend some Real Bonding Time with a romantic canoe ride

Along the way Pidge begins freaking out about the "destiny" thing but no worries baby boo Shiro honey's gotchu.

Oh yah while all this is happening Lance is shooting at some of those oppressive aliens

They got some bruises.

Jumping into the 2nd episode we see Lance's first shot he is sporting some new colors. Black and Green, an interesting combination wouldn't you say?

At the end when Hunk hugs both he and Keith, you can see him smile before going back to this questionable face. And what is he looking at?

(wipes tear from eyes/ cus dam that's beautiful) What I find interesting in the 3rd episode is when Voltron is sending off those other aliens who were prisoners, neither Shiro or Pidge are seen saying farewell. Instead it's Lance of all people?

Which leads us to...THE SUNSET SCENE!

(I feel blessed this very day) Here Shiro reveals he know's Pidge's secret identity and promises to keep it, for reasons he doesn't question! What a dude.

The 4th ep is a drama bomb, literally. Pidge gives the team a shock by announcing she's leaving. However just before she can, Lance realizes a robot lookalike of Rover has been planted in the castle as a bomb!

He jumps to protect Coran, seriously injuring himself in the process. Pidge offers her pod to help the team get a new battery for the castle so the infirmary can treat him again. Shiro stays with Lance, but gets attacked by Sendak and taken prisoner again. And it's Pidge to the rescue!

What I thought was super cool in this scene of episode 5 was when Pidge was grabbed by Sendak, Lance happened to wake up at that moment to shoot at him! Giving Shiro and Keith an opening to take him down

(Can You Feel~ The Love Tonight~)

With Lance watching over them in the background from "Mostly Dead but not Dead Dead" Pidge decides to stay with the group!

And for the most part, that's it for the first season. In the next season after everyone's back together they start repairing the ship in Episode 4. All 5 are there (why all?) and strangely LANCE is the one they let handle the very end. This....doesn't go very well.

What i find interesting here is when Pidge gushes about the alien tech that's at a level beyond earth lance says "it's not a sunset pidge" hmmmm where have we seen Pidge and a sunset before?

Anyway, because of Lance's try at fixing the ship they wasted time, enough time to be surrounded by a bunch of space spores! Cue Pidge's curiosity and Shiro's praising of her intelligence.

(I think Lance hit him here!)

Towards the end of this episode they get a boss fight with the Big Cube. None of their attacks work but Lance chooses to shoot a freeze ray (which backfires)

And immediately after this Pidge gets electrocuted

Shiro is the first to call out to her! He tries to go after her but the cubes won't let him. Here she has to bond with her lion again to unlock hidden powers. She can hear the sounds of the battle above and her teammate's voices. The loudest of all, Shiro. Calling for help, saying they need her.

And she's back! Saving the day!

We don't get much more until Episode 10 because of Keith's Galra arc. Here the pair are in a group with Lance (of course) who dubbs himself "an excellent shot" and it's "his thing" . You know who else was famous for being an excellent shot? CUPID!

But just as they're reeling in Pidge's wire pulls off the cover of the ship she was attached to! Sending her flying back and Shiro rushing to catch her.

(I'll Never Let Go Kat!)

Throughout this episode Lance has been trying to make this nickname he gave himself stick. The sharpshooter. Yet another odd parallel to have with Cupid. Because of this he takes a nearly impossible shot at the end of the ep to save the alien they need to help with their plan to defeat Zarkon. And he succeeds!

And because he did Shiro and Pidge get to discuss the new information Pidge has on her missing brother. Shiro assures her that "they'll find him" and gives him The Look

Which is rudely interrupted by this dude Slav. But he knows, he knows.

Sadly third season didn't have a lot of content of Shiro's relationships to anyone else with the exception of Keith due to Article 5 Section 19 of the Bromance Code of Arms, "Only one bro can care if another bro goes missing to prevent a major influx of feelings shared among all the bros". BUT I did notice this in episode 4 when they travel to an alternate universe where this code may not exist!

In this scene, everyone is surprised when suddenly two figures pop out from the vents. Lance is the first to react, shooting at them. And one of them fires back!

As he goes for Lance, Pidge takes this opportunity to shoot at his helmet, unmasking him! And who does he turn out to be?

An alternate version of Shiro.

1. The Busy Killers (7-2-0) — [Remains 1st] The Busy Killers have remained 1st for multiple weeks now. They have maintained a solid performance week in and week out. Delvin Cook is putting this team on his back and showing us why he is the best running back in the game.

Week 10 Opponent @Yuba City Sultans - A divisional match-up for the top-ranked team in our Power Rankings in Week 10. Both teams met each other five weeks ago, The Busy Killers defeated the Sultans by over twenty points. The key to the game for The Busy Killers will be to continue to give Cook the rock, let him grind it out, and produce another win for your team.

2. Evolution (7-2-0) ↑ [Up 1 Spot] Evolution has been able to maintain a top 5 spot most of the year, they've pushed into the second spot for the second time this season. Aaron Rodgers is the MVP of this team, when he's on the field Evolution is in every game. Even last week when PURPLEHAZE pushed for a late-game comeback, Rodgers had padded the lead just enough for any heroics on PURPLEHAZE's part. Evolution has shown us consistency through the years and this 2020 season has been no different. Evolution is bound to continue staying in the top 5 of our Power Rankings and has a must-win game to maintain the 2nd spot in our rankings this coming week.

Week 10 Opponent @The Canadian Cripplers - All four teams in the South-East will be playing each other this week. The division is heating up and in a must-win game for Evolution, they'll have to travel upstate to Tampa Bay in a big game. The Canadian Cripplers put it to Evolution in Week 6 in Miami, now in Tampa Bay, can Evolution return the favor? Rodgers had his worst game of the year in that game so one has to wonder if Evolution and Rodgers have been able to figure out the defensive scheme that the Cripplers play. If they have, it'll be a long day for the Cripplers, otherwise, Evolution with a loss will all but be out of the race for the South-East Title.

3. VanillaGorillas (6-3-0) ↑ [Up 3 Spots] VanillaGorillas has been unconventional this season, they have been able to rely heavily on a rookie class that has balled out all year. Quietly VanillaGorillas is winning games in a muddled Deep-North division that can still go to another team. Every week it seems someone else leapfrogs the leader. VanillaGorillas with Watson at the helm is playing some great ball. Watson isn't getting the recognition he deserves this season but even without the high praise, he is doing something that is usually unfathomable. He's winning with a majority of rookies. The two-headed rookie monster in the backfield has paid dividends, Swift and Taylor are poised to have big careers, they're showing it every practice and every game. VanillaGorillas has a versatile amount of weapons and jumping to the 3rd spot in our Power Rankings, these Gorillas are finally getting the praise they deserve in what has been a different strategy from seasons past.

Week 10 Opponent @BroncosTillDeath - VanillaGorillas has an easy Week 10, according to many around the league, but in reality is any game easy? Well, BroncosTillDeath has been lacking consistent roster decisions and filling in voids where they need to be filled. VanillaGorillas is in a prime position to extend its lead in the Deep-North with a win over BroncosTillDeath. They have to travel to Denver which should be clear skies and 54 degrees, perfect football weather for November. As long as VanillaGorillas can continue to do what they've been doing the last two weeks, they should be able to extend their record to 7-3-0 giving them some breathing room from the rest of the Deep-North teams.

All Time Record - 4-4-0 v. BroncosTillDeath

4. The Canadian Cripplers (6-3-0) ↓ [Down 2 Spots] The Canadian Cripplers lost a game they needed to have to keep pace with The Busy Killers and Evolution in their respective division. Losing a tough match-up at home against Black Hole Son was a tough one to swallow. Tom Brady looked horrible! There is no other word for how he looked on Sunday night. Brady completed 23 passes for 36 attempts for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions while getting sacked 3 different times. You remember the game Sam Darnold said he was seeing ghosts last year? Yeah, that is what it seemed like for Brady last week. Black Hole Son built a formula on how to attack Brady and get him uncomfortable, it is the formula that has always worked on Brady and with a big divisional match-up coming on Sunday, The Canadian Cripplers are going to need a strong performance from their offensive line to keep Brady upright. Losing a heartbreaker with a lackluster performance on the offensive side of the ball after winning 5 straight, pushed them down 2 spots to 4th. The Cripplers have excelled in their early-season projection but it isn't good enough for them, they want to prove the doubters wrong so they will hope to get back on the winning side of the coin on Sunday.

Week 10 Opponent v. Evolution - Defeating Evolution back in Week 6 was a massive momentum shift for this team. They shut Evolution down to their lowest amount of points score all year in Week 6. They created a blueprint to shut Rodgers down in that game, with Black Hole Son showing how to shut Brady down, this Cripplers/Evolution game in Week 10 is going to be a fun one to watch. Brady and Rodgers are two of the best in the game, if you have the ball with 2:00 minutes left in the game you'd always choose one of these two men to lead the charge. The Canadian Cripplers just like Evolution is in a position that they NEED this win. If the Cripplers can sweep Evolution it will put them in a position to play for the division in Week 14 if The Busy Killers can stumble once or twice before their Week 14 match-up. The Cripplers have all the tools to get the job done, they just need an overall grade A performance by TB12 and the rest of the cast.

5. Hyrule Empire (5-3-1) ↓ [Down 1 Spot] Rounding out the top 5 in our Power Rankings is Hyrule Empire. No one expected this team to tie with possibly the worst team in the league. In a divisional match-up last week, neither Hyrule Empire nor Balls Deep wanted the win, instead, we ended with our first tie of the 2020 season. DangeRuss, Russell Wilson, and Tyler Lockett haven't been as amazingly wooing as they were earlier in the year. Defenses have been able to shut down that connection recently, what can they do to get going again? They need to figure something out to maintain their position in the Power Rankings and on top of the division with Black Hole Son nipping at their heels.

Week 10 Opponent v. PURPLEHAZE - Luckily for Hyrule Empire, they have a game against PURPLEHAZE who has been back and forth all season, while they are atop their division, their defense continues to surrender the 5th most passing yards in the league. Wilson and Lockett should be able to find that connection again this week in a win they need after tying last week. The tie may come back to bite them in the butt if they aren't able to put together wins against teams they should beat. It'd got to start this weekend against a PURPLEHAZE team that Hyrule Empire should be able to beat, if they can't there will be a lot of rumblings outside and possibly inside of the locker room about, "Here we go again."

6. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints (5-4-0) ↑ [Up 3 Spots] Ladies and gentlemen, please rewelcome Josh Allen to the MVP talk. Josh Allen was on fire last weekend, there was a downward spiral it looked like Allen was falling in for several weeks; last week things clicked and he got back on his early season ways. With Josh Allen seemingly back on to his MVP ways, LilShupeScoresBIGPoints jumps up from 9th to 6th in our Power Rankings. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints is only a game back from first place in the division and in a week where they will travel to Straight Edge Society, they need this win. Hopefully, for LilShupeScoresBIGPoints, Josh Allen can put back-to-back elite performances together.

Week 10 Opponent @Straight Edge Society - Well, it is a big game for LilShupeScoresBIGPoints. Traveling to Cinncinatti to face off against Straight Edge Society who has been on the cusp of getting out of the Deep-North basement almost every single week, luckily for LilShupeScoresBIGPoints, they already hold a dominant win over Straight Edge Society. This should give them confidence that they can put together another winning formula against Straight Edge Society. Although Straight Edge Society looks a bit different this time around and without star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, Straight Edge Society will indeed have their handsful. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints needs to just continue building upon what they did last weekend, if they can continue that type of high-intensity play, they should push their record to 6-4-0 and their division record to 3-1-0.

7. Ultimate Savages (4-5-0) ↑ [Up 6 Spots] Ultimate Savages was sitting at 1-5 and have put together three straight wins, they have been able to produce with or without Christian McCaffery. This week they'll be without CMC once again, it hurts them as does the injury to Preston Williams but they have been able to get over the hump with the play of their quarterbacks. Whether it's Tannehill or Brees, Ultimate Savages has been able to get wins together in a definitive way. Though they aren't in first place in their division, they are ranked 7th in our Power Rankings due to their heart and unwillingness to give up at 1-5-0 earlier in the year. Now back in the chat for the Mountain-West division it'll be a fun game to watch come Sunday and whether they can win without CMC.

Week 10 Opponent v. Black Hole Son - Ultimate Savages will have a big test on Sunday, they will face off against the defending Super Bowl Champions who in their own right have also moved up in our Power Rankings. Ultimate Savages will be without CMC, Black Hole Son may be without Big Ben. If Ultimate Savages can upset the defending Super Bowl Champions at home it'll go a long way in taking over their division over PURPLEHAZE and holding the head-to-head win over Black Hole Son, something PURPLEHAZE failed to capture Week 1. Ultimate Savages will have to rely on Brees or Tannehill depending on who they roll with heavily after what we saw was a comeback performance for CMC last weekend against Buds Bums. Can they handle the defending Champs?

8. Black Hole Son (5-4-0) ↑ [Up 3 Spots] Black Hole Son pushed up to 8th, that's up 3 spots from last week. Week 9 was a must-win for Black Hole Son, the majority of the fans in the EFL voted in the weekly poll that Black Hole Son was done, finished, that it was time to throw in the towel on the season for the defending Super Bowl Champions. Black Hole Son must've used that as motivation as they played by far their best game since Week 1. Dominating in all phases of the game, not just on the offensive, but defense and most importantly special teams. Black Hole Son looked like they had renewed energy and motivation to fuel their run toward a repeat. While Big Ben hasn't been able to put up the same numbers as Dak Prescott had, he's been old consistent. He is hard to to bring down, he knows how to read defenses, and he can put the ball in tight coverage. He showed that last week, while it was more of a defensive coming out party against Tom Brady, we can't forget Ben and his consistent demeanor. Black Hole Son can easily move up with a win this week and after Hyrule Empire tied last week, Black Hole Son is right back in the mix for the Pacific.

Week 10 Opponent @Ultimate Savages - Black Hole Son will travel to Seattle to face off against the newest franchise in the Elite Fantasy League, after snapping their 4 games losing streak and putting a stop to The Canadian Cripplers 5 game winning streak, the defending Champions will look to snap Ultimate Savages 3 game winning streak. More importantly, they will look to build on their win last week to build more confidence toward their rematch against Hyrule Empire in two weeks. While Big Ben is on the Covid-19 reserve list, it doesn't mean he won't play, some within the organization believe that Ben will play this week. If not it looks like Drew Lock will get the nod. If Ben can't go one has to wonder how much belief Black Hole Son has in Lock. Lock has shown star power but it has come in flashes, it hasn't been consistent enough to make anyone believe he is a future starter. This is a big game for Black Hole Son if they want to have that Week 12 game mean anything, so believe me when I am telling you, Black Hole Son will try and push Big Ben to start if he can clear all Covid protocol.

9. PURPLEHAZE (4-5-0) ↓ [Down 4 Spots] PURPLEHAZE had a rough game last weekend. Although the score showed things were much closer than what it seemed, in reality, Evolution had easily secured the game early. With PURPLEHAZE atop of their division, they are barely hanging onto first after last week's loss. This has been a back-and-forth season for PURPLEHAZE and while they have made questionable decisions early it seems like they have elected Justin Herbert the starter the rest of the way. Herbert has shown us that he should be in the talk for rookie of the year, he's given this team life, he has helped bring them back to relevancy - with PURPLEHAZE in a dogfight for their division they need every win they can get, leaning on a rookie's arm is always risky but the former Oregon Duck has shown us all that he is the right answer for PURPLEHAZE.

Week 10 Opponent @Hyrule Empire - Traveling for California is a big Week 10 match-up against Hyrule Empire is going to be a task for the young rookie quarterback. He will have a relentless defense blitzing him on almost every down, if Herbert can get the ball out quick it can spell success for PURPLEHAZE. If they win it'll be done in the air as their running game has been in shambles most of the year. They need to get Tonyan involved again in the passing game to have further success. He had broken out several weeks ago, the tight end is a rookie quarterbacks best friend, so for Herbert to build and build on what he has already accomplished it's a must they get Tonyan going this weekend against Hyrule Empire.

10. Rainelo Hawks (4-5-0) ↓ [Down 3 Spots] Rainelo Hawks have fallen two weeks in a row, they have lost two straight and have gone from first in their division to third. Losing to both PURPLEHAZE and Ultimate Savages, Rainelo Hawks now finds themselves outside of the playoff mix. Falling to 10th in our Power Rankings and 12th overall in the seeding for the league, Rainelo Hawks are going to need a big bounce-back performance in Week 10 to get things back right. Rainelo Hawks will have Miles Sanders back which will be a big boost to their offense which has been lacking in the run game for weeks now. With a healthy Sanders and a ticked off Kyler Murray, you better believe these Hawks will be focused and ready for their Week 10 game.

Week 10 Opponent v. Buds Bums - Rainelo Hawks will have their young stud, Kyler Murray, going against Lamar Jackson in a pivotal Week 10 match-up. Both these quarterbacks are young and hungry to have a statement game. Neither team can afford to lose per se and for the Hawks, they need to get off this losing skid and push toward getting back in first for the Mountain-West. With their last three games of the season all divisional games they'll have a great chance at just that. First, they need to defeat Buds Bums in a big game where Rainelo Hawks have always dominated these Bums so they should have the confidence they need entering Sunday's game.

11. Straight Edge Society (4-5-0) ↓ [Down 1 Spot] Straight Edge Society fell in a game they had to have last weekend. It was once again what we have become accustomed to for this once-proud franchise. At 4-5-0 Straight Edge Society falls below .500 in a division that is still winnable surprisingly. Even with a winless record in the division, they can get things right this coming week in an obvious must-win. Straight Edge Society will be without Patrick Mahomes and even though Mahomes has played stout and is in the talks for MVP, he hasn't been putting up the stats he did last year that made him such a massive headache for defensive coordinators. Though fallen one spot in our Power Rankings, Straight Edge Society is in a good spot in the hustle and bustle toward a Wild Card berth. They need to do what they can, which is win out, if they can do that it'll go a long way toward the division crown or a Wild Card berth. Many teams are 4-5-0 and inside their division alone they are only two games back for first.

Week 10 Opponent v. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints - After an embarrassing loss Week 2 against LilShupeScoresBIGPoints where they poured it on Straight Edge Society, they are going to want to inflict revenge on the Super Bowl losers in back-to-back years. LilShupeScoresBIGPoints has always been a challenge for Straight Edge Society, but this year after Week 2 it seemed like they were leaps and bounds above Straight Edge Society. Though only one game ahead of Straight Edge Society, these two teams seemed like they were going in opposite directions after their Week 2 match. Now in Week 10, Straight Edge Society will look to leapfrog Buds Bums and LilShupeScoresBIGPoints with a win toward second in the Deep-North. The real question that is looming in this game is who is going to be the signal-caller for Straight Edge Society? Without Mahomes due to personal reasons, they need a signal-caller that can have instant chemistry and command of the offense. With slim pickings on the waiver wire, it'll be interesting to see if they attempt to trade for a quarterback or roll with one of the few who are out there on free agency.

12. Buds Bums (4-5-0) ↓ [Down 4 Spots] Falling 4 spots down out Power Rankings is a tough one to swallow, the furthest down our rankings consistently has been Buds Bums. Week in and week out they either fall or rise by quite a bit. Buds Bums is too inconsistent and doesn't give us enough belief in them to feel they deserve to remain in the top 10. At 12 Buds Bums fell in a game they probably should have won. It's always been a learning curve for this team even the one season where they went to the Championship game. Buds Bums aren't that far off at being competitive but hey until they can show us consistency they won't be one of our teams we are buying week in and week out within our EFL Power Rankings. Lamar Jackson hasn't looked the same, maybe it's the system he's in this year in Chicago, maybe it is that defenses know how to play him, whatever it is, Lamar needs to refocus and try to provide some spark for his team if they want to get a chance to end at Deep-North Champions.

Week 10 Opponent @Rainelo Hawks - Much like the Hawks, Buds Bums need this win to maintain their pivotal role in their respected division. Relying on Gurley and Gordon has become an afterthought, this is Lamar Jackson's team and he has to start acting like the star that we have grown to know him as. If he isn't at tip-top form than Buds Bums lose, if he can perform at optimal performance and play lights out, well then, Buds Bums may have a shot. Only defeating the Rainelo Hawks once in five meetings Buds Bums has their backs against the wall. They mustn't let the history play into this match-up. Those were different teams, these are different players, Buds Bums needs to focus on each game, each quarter, and each minute, one play at a time with the primary focus to keep Lamar Jackson as the duel threat that he is. Kyler v. Lamar, get ready ladies and gentlemen!

All Time Record 1-4-0 v. Rainelo Hawks

13. Yuba City Sultans (3-6-0) ↑ [Up 1 Spot] Yuba City Sultans got a much-needed win over Straight Edge Society, they have started to attempt to play the role of upsetter. With the playoffs almost out of reach barring some miracle, the Sultans will be looking to next season. We heard recently the general manager James Haight has put out a memo to the rest of the league that every player is up for trade as the trade deadline looms (November 20th) - Yuba City Sultans has to think through, what player do they want to build around? Being a Keepers year, the Sultans will want to hold onto at least one player right? Maybe not, maybe they will throw caution to the wind and see how the cookie crumbles. Yuba City Sultans will look to keep playing spoiler as the rest of the year unfolds while building toward 2021. It's going to be interesting to see who bites and what trades may happen with about two and a half weeks remaining.

Week 10 Opponent v. The Busy Killers - Yuba City Sultans played The Busy Killers tough in Week 5, now five weeks later both teams are against going to meet up in what could be a huge spoiler alert game to watch. The Busy Killers streaming wins together with ease, Yuba City Sultans have met teams just as good as The Busy Killers with some force and unwillingness to lay down for their opponents. This is definitely a Week 10 upset alert. I'm not one-hundred percent saying Yuba City Sultans are going to upset The Busy Killers but these two teams have battled each other tough for years, and in fact, the Sultans hold a winning record for The Busy Killers. With the general manager putting out the memo that every player is up for grabs, you all best believe these players are playing for their jobs or showcasing their talents for other teams in a huge Week 10 divisional game that can change the landscape of the South-East division and the playoff seeding as a whole if these Sultans can pull out a victory.

All Time Record 4-3-0 v. The Busy Killers

14. Thunderbuddy4Life (3-6-0) ↓ [Down 2 Spots] Thunderbuddy4Life dropped a game that really would have given them a huge confidence boost. They couldn't solve the weapon known as Delvin Cook. At 3-6-0 in the league and 1-2-0 in the division, it's going to be an uphill battle the rest of the way. They are playing only one team with an under .500 record the rest of the way and it's this week. Surprisingly, they are the one win Balls Deep has on the season. Thunderbuddy4Life has been giving games away by electing to start the wrong players, it's hindered them the entire season. Poor decision making is what has cost them more than anything. Thunderbuddy4Life a team who usually plays for Super Bowls is trying to find an identity. With Michael Thomas back in teh mix it'll help them rediscover that identity, but it could be too late for them possibly. For Thunderbuddy4Life though, they are still in the running for the division surprisingly. If they can push their division record to 4-2-0 it could go a long way at deciding the Pacific Title.

Week 10 Opponent v. Balls Deep - Well, you look at this match-up and you would imagine Thunderbuddy4Life should win this game. Week 6 Balls Deep got their first win over Thunderbuddy4Life by 15 points. Thunderbuddy4Life and Balls Deep have dealt with injuries often this season, while Balls Deep has suffered through more horrendous injuries, Thunderbuddy4Life has been dealing with executing depth chart planning successfully. Poor moves and lack of help from key role players have hurt them throughout the majority of the year. With Michael Thomas back this week in a game they didn't have him in Week 6, Thunderbuddy4Life will look to bounce back in a division game they need to have any life toward a possibly miracle Pacific comeback.

All Time Record 1-2-0 v. Balls Deep

15. Balls Deep (1-7-1) ↑ [Up 1 Spot] Balls Deep played the divisional leader Hyrule Empire tough, they almost pushed for a win but again in a close match-up couldn't find a way to get over the hump. In what has been a season to forget they should hold their head high after last week. Actually the last several weeks where they have been in many games and almost put away their opponents. Moving up to the 15th spot after tying against one of the top 5 teams in our Power Rankings, Balls Deep should begin focusing on next season, Kittle most certainly out for the year they will need to try and win and play spoiler with the lackluster players they have. Building with Kittle next season or Devante Adams will give Balls Deep some security to know they will have a stout player to build around for the 2021 season. At this moment, at this time, it's spoiler time. Playing three teams who can push for a playoff spot and high seeding, it'll be important for them to finish the season strong in order to feel good about what is coming next year.

Week 10 Opponent @Thunderbuddy4Life - Defeating Thunderbuddy4Life in Week 6 was something of a miracle, no one expected it and while Thunderbuddy4Life didn't have Michael Thomas in that game, Balls Deep should feel confident that they could hold their own against this team across the bay. In-state, in-city rivalries are always fun and for Balls Deep they would love nothing more than to shut the door on any hope Thunderbuddy4Life has for a Pacific title or a Wild Card seed. Balls Deep will have to do it with Adams and Carr, it's up to them to keep the big play going and evenif they don't win, playing Thunderbuddy4Life tough and to the final snap is truly what is on the line for many of these players who are now playing for their jobs.

16. BroncosTillDeath (3-6-0) ↓ [Down 1 Spot] What can one say about BroncosTillDeath? They aren't trying, they have all but given up on their season even with a division still winnable. Where has the fire gone for this once tough franchise? I don't know what is going on in Denver but the lack of focus, drive and effort puts them on the bottom of our Power Rankings. If they want to show that they deserve a spot in the Elite Fantasy League and a oppurtinity for the Mountain-West division, they have to put together a commitement on and off the field to build a team that will challenge their opponents whether they're in the playoff mix or not.

Week 10 Opponent v. VanillaGorillas - Tough match against a young team whose winning and winning in creative ways. BroncosTillDeath fell apart fast with the loss of Barkley, they haven't been motivated to play and the players on this team have a lack of effort when it comes to pushing for a win. They are only a game out of the Mountain-West division, they have oppurtinities here to win their division - it'll be up to the coaching staff, the general manager, and the owner to really stream together a team in the next five weeks that can push for a division Title. Week 10 against VanillaGorillas will be a challenge but we know what this team is capable of and if they buckle down and show the execution they had in seasons past, we all know they have what it takes to win games and win game in powerful fashion.

Bruins Comeback, Beat Carolina 6-4 - Jimmer

What a wild game, you can simply never ever count out this Bruins team. After a very lackluster first 50 minutes of play, the Bruins stormed back and scored 5 times in the last 10 minutes, and secured one of the more impressive victories by any NHL team this season. 

Returning to the lineup after missing a game, Brad Marchand scored his 30th goal on a beautiful no look pass from David Pastrnak to give the Bruins a lead after the first period. From that point on it was pretty much all Carolina. They netted 3 second period goals, and added a 4th unanswered goal less than a minute into the third. 

Things looked very bleak for Boston until Matt Grzelcyk sniped a snap shot (his third goal of the year) over the glove side of Cam Ward at 9:56 of the third period. This got the ball rolling on the comeback effort from the B’s. Just 56 seconds later it was David Pastrnak’s turn. The winger took a feed from Brad Marchand and absolutely roofed it (25th of the season) glove side on Cam Ward from the right side dot. Now with 9 minutes remaining, the Bruins trailed by only one, with all of the momentum.They needed only 21 seconds. David Krejci gloved down the puck and raced down the ice for a 2 on 1, feeding Danton Heinen with a cross ice feed that he buried (13th goal of the season) to knot it up at 4. 3 goals in 1:17.

But the B’s weren’t done yet. After Carolina captain Justin Faulk sent the puck to another planet and took of the delay of game penalty, everyone knew the Bruins were about to strike. Just 36 secondsi nto the power play, David Pastrnak took a perfect feed from Grzelcyk, and rifled a one timer (2nd of the game, 26th of season) top shelf on Ward. 4 goals in just 6:26, incredible. Pastrnak went on to score an empty netter to complete the hat trick and ice the victory for Boston. There’s a ton to unpack with this game so let’s jump in.

The Good

- Obviously that comeback was absolutely incredible. Once Grzelcyk got the B’s going, there was no looking back. It was like they flipped the switch and realized they were in a hockey game that they should have been winning. Grzelcyk looked awesome in the last 1o minutes, as many did, but every time he had the puck I had confidence that he was going to make a play. This is the kind of stuff that great teams do. They never quit no matter the deficit, and all it takes is one turn in momentum for the game to take a complete 180 degree turn. The Bruins were sloppy all night, and yet when it came down to winning time they once again turned it up to 100 and put on a clinic. I love this team.

- Brad Marchand and David Backes both returned to the lineup. Backes didn’t play a massive role in tonight’s game, but having him there for depth and line balance was obviously valuable. Marchand came back after missing one game with an injury, and he looked just fine. Marchy scored a goal and assisted on 2 others, including the game winner. Marchand really has been incredible this season, and watching dominate every night is awesome for B’s fans.

- David Pastrnak have yourself a night. Not only did he provide a highlight real assist on the opening goal with a behind the back no look feed to Marchy, but then he decided to mess around and score a hat trick in less than 10 minutes. He finished it with an empty netter, but those first two goals were some of the best shots I’ve ever seen from Pasta, and that’s saying a lot. He stepped up big time in this one, and it appears as though he has really regained his goal scoring touch these last few games after a bit of a dry spell.

The Bad

- Penalties, penalties, and more penalties. The B’s took 5 penalties in this one, and allowed 2 PP goals to Carolina. This included the first 5 on 3 goal allowed by the B’s all year. It seems like the B’s have been taking a lot of penalties lately, but I wouldn’t look into it that much. Just can’t be taking 5 penalties a night under any circumstance.

- This was a sloppy game for 50 minutes. Sure the B’s pulled it out, as great teams do, but once again it was not a 60 minute effort. Specifically the second period, where the B’s were outscored 3-0. They spent 20 minutes chasing the puck and getting absolutely dominated by a Carolina team that is not nearly as talented as them. They also took a few penalties along the way. It was the single worst period I have seen from this team in a long time. Thankfully they were able to pull off the comeback, but I am still searching for a full hard nosed 60 minute effort from this team soon.

The Ugly

- There was a number of injuries in this one, and frankly it makes the comeback that much more impressive. The B’s were down two top defensemen, as Zdeno Chara (7-16-23) and Torey Krug (13-35-48) both exited with injuries. They were also without second line wing Jake DeBrusk (14-25-39)  who has looked great lately, and had a strong season overall. Losing these guys would usually mean a team trailing by a couple goals late would for sure accept defeat, but not this team. With Patrice Bergeron still out for a bit longer with his broken foot, and Charlie McAvoy still out with the sprained MCL, the Bruins can’t afford many more injuries. Per Bruce Cassidy, both Jake DeBrusk and Zdeno Chara will be out Thursday against Florida, as well as Saturday versus Tampa Bay. This news really sucks because the B’s will be without two huge players not only against FL, but against Tampa in massive game as they are battling for the top spot in the Atlantic Division with the The Lightning. Torey Krug is a game time decision for the Florida game, and both Paul Postma and Anton Bidh were recalled on an emergency basis to Boston. 

Overall, this was an amazing win for the Bruins. However, the injuries that came from it really really suck. Hopefully Krug will be good to go tonight, and Chara and DeBrusk will heal up quick. The Bruins will be on the road tonight in Florida against a Panthers team that has been playing good lately, so we should be in for another solid matchup.

Formula 1 Championship Update (Race 8-14 + Standings)

I’m back here after a while, to go back into doing the flashbacks of the races that happened, from Paul Ricard to Monza and to show the current standings as well. So now, let’s get onto it.

Let’s start with the 8th race of the Formula 1 Championship, at Paul Ricard.

This race started normally, with Novikov being able to make the pole a victory at Paul Ricard, despite having lost the 1st place at the start to Thomazini. (Who DNFed like 20 laps before the end) In the podium with Novikov went Atelsek for Porsche and Morgan for Red Bull, with the fastest lap being set by the Red Bull driver at lap 47 of 53. Now we move onto the next race to come, the 9th race of the calendar was the Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring.

Atelsek got pole and won demostrating the pace he had at the Red Bull Ring, almost not losing the lead excepting for some laps. In 2nd and 3rd we got both Red Bulls of Morgan and de Saint-Germain, with the Russian driver defeating his teammate, having started behind her. The fastest lap of the race this time was set by Rushman III from Ford at the last lap of the race. The 10th race of the calendar was at Silverstone, in the UK. The race had a weird looking, mostly after the weird qualifying we had the previous day, leaving the podium chances wide open for teams like Trabant. Ford or both Porsches to get into the podium, this chance was there mostly for Red Bull and some other regular  top drivers making mistakes on qualifying and not getting into Q3 in some cases.

Novikov got pole and the win losing the lead just 1 lap in all the race. Thomazini came in 2nd, and was the one that leaded the race for 1 lap only from Novikov.  And as I said,  the podium chances were wide open for the midfield teams and Trabant made the most of it with Eichenschild getting it, and apart from that, he got the fastest lap of the race, making even more out from the chance and for the team. Race 11th, Germany, at the Hockenheimring.

Qualifying got some surprises here, such as Jarbas seeming to repeat his stadistic of when qualifying in a high place, getting a podium. The top 2 were the same on quali and race with Morgan winning for Red Bull and Atelsek coming home 2nd for Porsche, with Jordan’s Zatacka getting the 2nd podium so far in the season for his team.  The fastest lap of the race was set by Jarbas way at the start of the race. Race 12 of the F1 championship came at the Hungaroring.

At the Hungaroring, we saw de Saint-Germain winning for the first time despite being on pole 4 times counting this one. The podium was almost the same we saw at quali with these positions, with the difference of Vaara defeating both his teammate and Novikov as well. Both Ferraris got into the podium with the Red Bull driver. The fastest lap went for Pabouckova from Jordan. We had Race 13 of the F1 Championship in Belgium, at the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.

This time top 3 was almost the same excepting Jarbas finishing way at the bottom of the field and de Saint-Germain making it from 13th to 3rd, making a Red Bull 2-3 with Morgan in 2nd, and Novikov getting another win for Penske. Fastest Lap was made by Zatacka at the last lap of the race. Round 14 of the F1 World Championship took place at Italy, in the Monza Circuit.

This race was a total surprise, With Szybki winning for Sempre Senna. We had a rain qualifying, where the top 3 was a normal one, but in the race everything went weirder. Szybki qualified 5th for the race and took the win, with Thomazini who started 7th and got into 2nd almost getting the win and Vaara who qualified 10th got into the last podium position in a race with a total unexpected result, but that was clear it was gonna be unpredictable for the rain quali.

Now, I’ll show both the Drivers and Constructors Championships, going firstly with the Drivers one.

At the moment we’ve a draw at the top of the leaderboard between Penske’s Novikov and Red Bull’s Morgan, with the Penske driving leading at the moment for the wins difference. 3rd is so far de Saint-Germain, with Atelsek from Porsch in 4th, and Vaara from Ferrari in 5th.

In the Constructors Championship there’s not a lot of a surprise, with Red Bull leading it with 334 points, Penske is 2nd with 240, then Ferrari with 190 points, 1 point behind in 4th comes Porsche, Sempre Senna is in 5th, Jordan in 6th, Ford in 7th, Williams in 8th, Trabant in 9th, BMW in 10th, Pegaso in 11th, WAR in 12th, Koenigsegg in 13th and then the non scoring teams so far of Skoda and Mercedes.
