immensely sad to be saying goodbye to another beautiful drama that i haven't seen for a while. will forever miss these two whom i have grown attached to, who have gone a long way to show that love does prevail...

Sang Yan does so many tiny endearing things every episode but I genuinely think twirling in the snow while softly gazing up at Yifan twirling was the cutest (I’m pretty sure he’s gonna beat this record soon enough).

Sometimes I wish Yifan would find out all the times he has been looking out for her and cheering her on just so she can have the comfort that even when she felt that the world is out to get her, he was always there, existing in the shadows and pulling the strings in whatever capacity he could. He was/is the best bit in her life and she knows that but I don’t think she truly knows the depth of his feelings since she herself was in such a tough, vulnerable place.

When he said he’ll be there with her always, he truly meant it even if it included him just seeing her from afar in Yihe, even when she broke his heart (unwillingly).

I know I’ve said this before but I really love how they use the reflections to emphasise that there was a time when they could’ve had it all, when they almost had it. Especially in this hug, which could’ve happened back then when they both needed it the most. It’s her image mainly which is mirroring in this sequence bec she was the one who wanted to hug him and even turned back but couldn’t.

So this time around when her arms wrap around him, she’s hugging him in the present moment but this also carries the lingering longing for literal years. How many times did she allow herself to think about that night and regret over it or justified it? With Yifan, it’s almost like even if she’s aware deep down she doesn’t let herself think or voice it out.

I love that she finally got to do this - a full circle moment for their youth and a closure to that night. Even the mirroring kind of settles once he starts putting his arms around her - it feels like a new chapter almost.

(Also, I lowkey think he had a feeling that she wasn’t sleepwalking simply because he has seen her do it before while Yifan doesn’t really know how she acts when she sleepwalks so it’s totally easy to mess up. With the way he’s so in tuned when it comes to her, he might have clocked it too. Plus, he doesn’t touch her much then bec she’s obviously not aware. Even in the kiss bit, he holds her for a second when she’s about to fall but takes his hand away from her when she’s stable. So this time around when he hugs her back, it gave me a feeling that maybe he knows she was pretending.)

One of Wen Yifan's greatest strength is her firmness in standing up to herself and insisting on her boundaries. She may see herself as a burden to others, but she is fully capable of standing up for herself. She does this a lot in episode 13 and 14, but we see this part of her from the start. There's her conversation with the former landlady in episode 3, the conversation with the former roommate in the same episode (one of my favorite moments in that episode actually), and her multiple interactions with her family members. I can't help but admire her for this because it must have taken a lot of effort to build this part of her.

I'm not going to lie, I was sitting there, mouth wide open, whispering "what the fuck" when Sang Yan went all "I should thank you for leaving" in episode 29. Not only do they not allow him to feel angry and sad about his girlfriend doing the equivalent of moving town and blocking him on all socials for half a year, but they also INSIST in turning him into a prop for Wen Yifan's Journey of Discovering Herself.

And yes, his book version wasn't very chill either, I'm fully aware of the entire "let's visit Yihe on a regular basis to check on my non-girlfriend" thing. But this entire thing goes beyond that - it's like he's not allowed to exist in his own life, and lives only as a supporting character in the Wen Yifan show. At this point, I sincerely wish I could forget about the Hong Kong thing so that I can go back to my previous level of enjoyment, but that's hard to do when it is casually mentioned in every episode as being The Best Idea Ever.

Every time Sang Yan brings up a topic by pretending that he's just talking about a piece of media or a friend and not something very specific that has been on his mind regarding Wen Yifan, my love for him grows.

Every time Wen Yifan tries to avoid owing Sang Yan even just the tiniest amount and stubborny puts her very bad math skills to work, my love for her grows.

They are both so precious!

Highly suspect that SY has a built in limitless patience only for Wen Yifan,, that's why everything she does is alright for him, even if it hurts him....and then there's 99.9% of people who aren't Wen Yifan who SY has absolutely no patience for 25/7

Playing a dangerous game and maybe drinking coffee at night will generate some thoughts about Gravity's crew but what I like is how they have an ideological contrast to Blue Space (then! the difference is further emphasized through familial motifs) prior to Gravity being captured
