Review and Recap : “Prey Date” (Spoilers Ahead)

OK So time for a new R&R! Spoilers abound!

RECAP

We start the episode off at Frederickson Mansion, where Fred and Hiro are battling each other in some Smash Bros-esque game. Hiro emerges victorious and the monster he’s playing as dabs... I have lost hope in humanity. They hear Fred’s mother scream and they run to investigate, only for it to just be her screaming for joy at a cute puppy video. Liv Amara is there too.

After the intro we continue where we left off. Fred’s mother is looking to invest in Sycorax (albeit I don’t know if it’s the same investment as Momakase or if it’s just like money investment) and asks Liv about her progress on curing Orso Knox. Liv says that they are 2-3 weeks from a breakthrough, which relieves Mrs. Fredrickson. Hiro decides to investigate this further, finding out that this is the exact same thing she said on an interview 2 months ago.

At SFIT, Hiro, Baymax, and Fred visit Karmi. Hiro convinces (well more like manipulates) Karmi into finding out about Orso, but before she gets a chance to question what just happened Fred accidentally destroys a bunch of virus cultures.

At Sycorax, Karmi tries to find info on Orso at the company’s database, but the folder the information is on is locked. Karmi visits Liv in her office and ask her about the file, Liv responding with that the file is only for her Knox team. Karmi tries to convince Liv about helping but Liv turns her down. Karmi returns to the lobby to find Hiro, Fred, and Baymax there. Liv is coming down the stairs, so Karmi brings them into her lab to avoid Liv. Hiro decrypts the Knox File and opens it. They find out he’s in Sub-Level 9 and that he is experiencing... some thing about gene sequences and over-expressions. Karmi says she can fix it but she does not want to risk her internship. Hiro convinces Karmi and they go down to Sub-Level 9. Sub-Level 9 itself contains a lot of organs in tubes, along with Orso Knox, who is in a cage. Karmi starts working on the console and Hiro mentions how Knox was able to talk before, Liv walks in and says he’s becoming less human. Liv is disappointed in Karmi, but when she finds out what Karmi did works she decides to let Karmi keep working on it. Liv leaves for a meeting, but for some reason brings Fred with her. After Liv and Fred leave, the cage for Orso is disabled allowing him to get out.

They try to get out through the elevator, which is now disabled. Hiro notices Orso has escaped his cell, alerting Karmi. They start to search for Orso, and he finds them. Orso causes some damage in the lab while Hiro, Karmi, and Baymax attempt to escape him. Meanwhile, Sycorax goes on lockdown; which looks like a supervillain style deathtrap. Liv cannot override lockdown, so she goes to gather her team while Fred goes to gather the Big Hero 6.

Karmi, Hiro, and Baymax run into a room with Orso on hot pursuit. Hiro disables the mechanism and goes with Baymax to trap Orso back into his cell and leaves Karmi in the room by herself. She goes to work on a cure for Orso. The Big Hero 6 (well Big Hero 4) attempt to get in the building but can’t due to the various chemical properties Titanium has. Meanwhile, Hiro and Baymax find a fridge that contains Orso’s food, which they use to attempt to lure Orso into his cell. They managed to almost to Orso into his cell, only for Hiro to step on some meat and alert Orso. Knox proceeds to chase Hiro, Baymax attempts to stop Orso but fails and Orso catches Hiro.

Meanwhile, the Big Hero 6 (well still 4) managed to cut into the titanium, only for Orso to break through, with Hiro in tow, and run off. Sycorax goes out of lockdown and Liv says that they might have to make some “tough decisions” (kill Knox). Karmi says she can try and cure Knox but Liv shuts her down. The team then decide they’ll need the Ultra Armor.

Orso is running around the city, causing surprisingly as little damage as possible. Hiro manages to escape Orso’s grasp but falls of a ledge, Orso goes to catch him. Hiro realizes that Orso isn’t trying to hurt people. Orso proceeds to raid trash cans in the alleyway, only for a cat to come up and scare him which leads to a chain reaction of traffic jams, leaving Orso to burrow into the subways of San Fransokyo.

The Big Hero 6 (well now 5) try to find Orso. Baymax’s scanners are slightly broken but he can find Knox’s head signatures prompting the team to go to the subways. Hiro is already in the subway systems, looking for Orso. The team eventually enter the subways to confront Knox, hearing his roars through the subway tunnels. They encounter Knox and proceed to attack him, Knox mostly just running through the tunnel not directly hurting anyone. The team manage to incapacitate Knox, Hiro stopping them before they severely damage Knox. This eventually goes all Jurassic Park about not making sudden movements or loud noises, but with the build-up of dust Wasabi sneezes causing Knox to lash out and start a cave in. A piece of cement begins to fall on Hiro but is stopped by Knox before Knox passes out. They bring Knox back to Sycorax and Karmi (well “Sycorax” due to them not liking to use my or me) cure Orso Knox. At a press conference, Liv says that Orso has graciously invested in Liv’s future, but after that Liv tells Orso that she can turn him back into a monster any time she wants.

REVIEW

Woo! That was such a good episode! I love how they made Orso not a completely monstrous psychopath! I’m also glad they cured Orso... well sort of. Liv being evil is so intimidating but at the same time she makes a great villain. Now I have more scenes to try and take pictures of for my header and banner similar to last season with Obake, but i’ll wait a bit before doing so. 10/10
