wip wednesday
i have yet to start my @hellcheeranniversaryweek bingo card fics yet BUT i still wanna contribute to the event any way i can so have a lil peek of the ongoing saga that is the groupie au:
If she'd told him yesterday morning, he probably would've walked out the door and never looked back. He would've done exactly what his old man did. He would've hated himself for it, but it probably wouldn't have been enough to get him to stay. Now he can't imagine leaving.

Her Sun is the Moon
I'm working on a little story for @theawfuledges that I'm planning to post as part of @hellcheeranniversaryweek
It's still a WIP, but it's about Chrissy learning that she can be herself and belong in places that she never imagined herself being. Title is from the movie Ladyhawke.

gonna jump on the hellcheer wip wednesday wagon!!!
I had to look up one of the things on my bingo card ("chemistry read," which is when two actors playing characters that are meant to have romantic tension do a screen test to see if they... have chemistry) which then sparked a WHOLE plot bunny (which is good!) so I started working on that one right away hehe

Eddie’s not entirely sure how Rick hooked him up with this audition, but he is absolutely not going to look this particular gift horse in the mouth. It’s a TV role, for one, and on a show that gets pretty decent watch numbers (that he has actually contributed to on occasion. Okay, look, he’s a huge fucking fantasy nerd, of course he watches Sword of Annaris) AND it looks like it’s a recurring character role. Jack-goddamn-pot, baby. If he can land this role, he definitely owes Rick, like, a really fuckin’ nice steak dinner or some shit, for being the best goddamn agent of all time. Plus, it’ll be nice to branch out a little. His theatre roles have been pretty varied (if nothing really show-stopping) but any film stuff he’s done— which has been a reasonable amount, okay, he’s not complaining or anything— he’s usually the faceless villain in some B- or C-list slasher, luring innocent virgins down dark alleys to murder them with an appropriate amount of gore and mad laughter.
(It’s your eyes, Munson, a casting director had told him once, both of them a little high at the tail end of the wrap party. You got— psycho killer eyes, you’re scary good at it. And that shit had kind of stuck with him, never mind that it was a good six years ago now.)

WIP Wednesday
Oh crap, last moments of this week's WIP Wednesday for the @hellcheeranniversaryweek! I have barely started but I have something to share, thankfully.
Chrissy hesitated for so long that Abigail had already changed into her normal clothes and grabbed her bag. The friend touched her shoulder and said in her ear "Don't forget there's a tazer under the counter in case he tries anything." Chrissy hoped her work day wouldn't end with her needing to use it on the crying man. Abigail waved goodbye, rounded the counter and left through the front door. Chrissy decided she had practiced her speech enough, and it was time to finally approach the hunched man. He hadn't made any sniffling noises for a little while now; maybe this would be the best moment to get him to pay and leave. She rounded the corner, wiped her hands on her apron, and took a deep breath before speaking. "Is there anything else you need, sir?" She paused to wait for a response. The man didn't move. Maybe her voice was too low? "Sir? Do you need anything?" Nothing. She took a step closer, half curious, half worried. Did he fall asleep on the counter? Chrissy, for reasons unknown to herself, raised her hand and touched him gently on the shoulder. Everything after that happened really fast. The man, startled, jumped on his seat, causing the guitar case leaning on his knee to fall to the side, which in turn led Chrissy to try and catch it - losing her balance midway through and hitting her knees hard on the tiled floor. She let out a pained cry, reflexively clutching the rescued guitar case, and the man stumbled out of the stool to try and help her, nearly falling himself. "Oh my God, Chrissy, I'm so sorry, you scared me!" He said, on his knees, getting the case out of her grip and laying it on the floor behind him. Then he surveyed her, with a worried look on his face like he just broke something that would get him in trouble. Chrissy would have laughed at the notion, if her knees weren't throbbing with pain. "Are you okay, did you break something?" His hands were in front of him, like he wanted to help but didn't know how. Chrissy tried to move her legs so her knees wouldn't be against the tile anymore, and winced at the pain of the movement. Damn, she hit the floor pretty hard. "No, it just really hurts," she answered, then finally processed what happened. "How do you know my name?"
Did I use this as an excuse to write something I didn't have time to write all day? Yes. Yes I did.

WIP Wednesday
I have another as-of-yet untitled WIP for @hellcheeranniversaryweek bingo card. It should fill in a few squares but most importantly it'll fill in the road trip square! 🛣️
Quick warning, this snippet is from Eddie's POV, so there's gratuitous use of the f-bomb. Gratuitous enough that I thought I should put it below the cut. 😆
“But there’s something… under this town and I can feel it… reaching for me…” She sniffled and quickly wiped away another tear and started to stand up as he blurted out, “Why don’t you leave?” “I…” She stared at him before she sat back down again and gripped the edge of the table, “I can’t just run away from home—” “No, not runaway, I mean not really,” he huffed a quick laugh, “I mean just get out of town for a bit.” “I…” her brow creased as she looked into his eyes. “I mean, it’s fucking spring break,” he grinned, “It’s not like we have school next week.  Maybe get your boyfriend to take you camping or something…” He forced himself to keep smiling even though the bile burned the back of his throat as he said that fucking word that associated Jason fucking Carver with Chrissy because it was just another reminder that no matter how great that he and Chrissy got along during this drug transaction, that was all it fucking was... “Jason’s going out of town with his family to their lake house…” “So… go along too.”   Fuck, saying that also made his throat burn… “I can’t,” she shook her head, “His parents’ wouldn’t…  It just wouldn’t look right.” “What about your friends, can’t they—” “Everyone has plans that they wouldn’t be able to break and—” “Well…  You know… Fuck it, I’ll take you camping then,” the smile slipped off of his stupid fucking face as he realized what the fuck he had just said.  What he had just fucking offered.  By the stunned look on Chrissy’s face, he knew that his stupid fucking mouth went too far this time.  What the fuck was he thinking!?  Oh yeah, she’d definitely go along with this fucking plan for him, the fucking King of the Freaks, to take her, the gorgeous and popular head cheerleader and Queen of Hawkins High, on a fucking camping trip for a fucking week during fucking spring break— “Okay…” “Huh?”

WIP Wednesday
Another Wednesday, another WIP for Hellcheer Bingo with @hellcheeranniversaryweek! Yes, I'm writing another one. I didn't think I had it in me, but the prompts are so fun, so I'm trying to write as much as I can!
"Something old?" Nancy asked, pen poised over her clipboard like Bob Knight going through a pre-game checklist. "Check," Chrissy replied, gesturing at her ivory lace dress with its sweetheart neckline and tea-length skirt puffed out by yards of tulle underskirts. Technically, it wasn't her old dress, but it was somebody's old dress. She had found it after days and weeks of trawling the vintage shops of Chicago, from Andersonville to Wicker Park, in her spare time. She hoped that the bride who had worn it before her had had a long and happy marriage, and that it would bring good luck to her and Eddie. "Something new?" Nancy continued. "Check." Chrissy pushed a tendril of hair behind her ear to show off the pearl studs Eddie had bought her as a wedding gift. "Something borrowed?" "Check, thanks to you." Chrissy leaned back a little and clicked together the simple white heels she was wearing, like she was Dorothy. After getting her nursing license and starting her job at the UIC hospital a year ago, Chrissy had begun to phase out her heels—after so many hours on her feet in the wards, the thought of cramming her swollen toes into a pair of heels made her shudder, so she stuck to sneakers and flats. She only kept a pair of sensible black heels for special occasions, only neglecting to count her own wedding as one of those special occasions. Thankfully, she and Nancy wore the same size shoes. Nancy smiled and made a tick on her clipboard. "All right, last but not least, something blue?"

wip wednesday
finally started one of my fics for my @hellcheeranniversaryweek bingo card let's goooooooooo
Now everyone knows. She pretended not to see Jason showing his friends the hotel room key that his father gave him earlier this afternoon. It was bad enough that their parents not only knew but expected them to cement their connection tonight, did Jason really have to go bragging about it to all of his friends? Maybe it was her fault for agreeing to this display at Lovers Lake. It was mostly borne out of a selfish desire to delay the inevitable. Any hour spent out in public was one hour more she had as her own person. Tomorrow she wouldn’t just be Chrissy Cunningham anymore. She’d be Jason Carver’s omega.

WIP Wednesday
Here's a little bit more of the as of yet untitled story for @hellcheeranniversaryweek bingo prompt of "mistaken blind date". Now with karaoke! 🎤
Chrissy looked up to see a smile twitching on the edge of Eddie's lips, “Umm… if I were to pick a duet, would you sing with me?” “I dunno,” she bit her smiling lip, “Can you sing?” He shrugged, “I’m okay.  How ‘bout you?” “I’m okay too,” she shrugged back, still smiling, “How about…  I’ll sing a duet with you, but you have to sing a song on your own first.” “Okay,” he shifted his jaw as he nodded.  Then a grin formed on his face, “But I get the pick the songs.” “You only get to pick one song,” she huffed a laugh, “But it can’t be the duet because I get to pick that one.” “Or… I pick both songs,” he countered, “And I’ll buy you dinner afterwards.” She shifted her jaw as she thought about it.  She had planned to split the cost of the date so that there weren’t any expectations and she really should stick to that plan… “I dunno…” “Don’t you trust me, Cunningham?” His head cocked ever so slightly to the side.  Lips twitching a smile, seemingly in rhythm with her heart that had started to pound in her chest. “Umm, I…” her voice barely a breathy whisper through her parted lips, “Should I?” His smile grew cocky, “I promise," he traced an “x” over his heart, “I won’t do you dirty.” She grabbed her drink with both hands, hoping he wouldn’t see how much she was trembling.  Her eyes on his while she lifted the glass and just as the straw was at her lips, she asked quietly, “You won’t?” His eyes slowly roamed between her eyes and lips as she took a drink, “Not unless you ask nicely.”

WIP Wednesday
For my final wip Wednesday, here's another snippet from the "road trip" prompt story for @hellcheeranniversaryweek bingo cards. This time with some truth or dare! 😍
“Really…” he deadpanned at her, “Truth or dare?” “Well…” she bit her bottom lip, “I umm, it’s a good way for us to learn—” “How fucked up we are?” He grinned, “Like what kind of awful shit are you gonna dare me to do?” She quickly covered her mouth as she snorted a laugh, “I’m not gonna…” she dropped her hand and pursed her lips, “Well, if you pick truth then I can’t dare you to do anything bad.” He snorted a laugh, “Like picking truth wouldn’t be any less terrifying…” “I promise,” she held her hand to her heart, “I won’t ask anything to scary—” “Terrifying,” he corrected. “Fine,” she sighed with smile, “Nothing terrifying…  Okay?” “Okay… fine,” he sighed as he poked the campfire with a stick. “And since this is my idea,” she lifted up her chin with a smug smile, “I’ll go first, so truth or dare.” “Wait,” his mouth dropped open as he looked at her, “How the fuck is that fair?” “I didn’t say it was fair, so pick one,” she smiled and then pointed at him with both hands, “Truth. Or. Dare.” “Fine…” he sighed as he slouched back into his folding chair, “Truth.” “Okay,” she bit her lips together as she thought about it…  “Oh, do you like any of the songs on my tape?” “Fuck me!” he rolled his eyes, “Dare!”

WIP Wednesday
I've started an as yet untitled fic for @hellcheeranniversaryweek bingo card event. It'll fill a few of the squares/prompts but the main prompt is "mistaken blind date" because who doesn't love one of those! 😍
“Guess who’s got a date tonight!?” Steve sing-songed just as Chrissy stepped through their apartment’s front door. She dropped her commuter bag onto the bench by the front door and stared at Steve and his stupid smile that grew into a muppet grin.  A grin that she longed to punch off of his face... “You?” she deadpanned.  Trying desperately to act nonchalant as she pulled off her sensible yet professional shoes and placed them beneath the bench, hoping that she wasn't the one that was doomed in this narrative. “No, I don’t have a date,” Steve laughed and pointed at Chrissy with both index fingers, “But you do!” “What!?” “You’ve got a blind date, baby!” Robin’s mouth gaped open like Statler while she and Waldorf laughed maniacally.

i have been neglecting my other fics to get this smau done but have a little peek of ... something 😇
“What can I get for you?” Chrissy jumps and whips back around to face her, clutching her bag even tighter as the bartender cracks a smile. “You looking for somebody?” “Oh, umm…” Chrissy tucks her hair behind her ear and shakes her head. “No, not really. I was just… looking around.” “Mhmm. It’s a funky place, huh?” “It has… character.” The bartender laughs. “That’s one word for it.”

WIP Wednesday
it is that time once again! more of that chemistry read/actor au hehe
Chrissy looks over the list, but most of the names are unfamiliar. She's been away from the scene for a little while (putting herself together after she'd turned eighteen and flown out the door of her mother's house with just the clothes on her back and the number of a lawyer her acting coach had given her had taken… some time), but she hadn't thought it had been that long. Or maybe they're trying to pull in someone a little more unknown for the role?
"Oh, thank God," she says, almost involuntarily, upon seeing a name she actually recognizes, and Patrick does laugh at her this time.
"I thought you might be happy about that," he says. "Even if you or Harrington don't get the part, you'll get to have a nice Hawkins Phys. Ed. reunion, right?"
