2019 as hard as it can be...

“You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail. Proverbs 19:21″

If I were to sum up the year 2019 with a verse this would be the perfect verse to describe how everything went in the past year.

As a tradition, I always write my personal prayer requests beginning of the year and as I look back, I saw that almost all of my personal prayers were not answered. But I am still happy, you know why? Because the Lord has taught me a lesson that has caused me to lose money, almost lost relationships, and has caused me to miss a greater opportunity in my job. All because I trusted in my ability to provide, my own ability to carry through. Before 2019 ended I realized how messed up I have been because I depended on myself more and that is what the Lord hates the most, it is when we are self-reliant and less dependent on Him.

I could have gained more if only I trusted on Him more.

It is also just in time to start the year with a reminder that the faithlessness of the Israelites has cost them the promise land. I did not trust the Lord to provide and answer my prayer because the root cause is, I am faithless. I did not put my faith in Him when I started our house construction, I did not put my faith in Him when I was so proud enough to be interviewed for top 5, and I did not put my faith in Him when I purchased an item I have prayed for a long time using my own credit card, in short, I did not listen and waited for the Lord to take action but instead, I took things in my hands. These things and a lot more has taught me that self-reliance is not the thing of the Lord. He wants His children to rely on Him. 

But still I am grateful for 2019 because it has showed me how faithless I am and has taught me and has showed me How big God is, that without Him, our plans, actions, decisions will never ever prevail. This is my greatest blessing this 2019, it is knowing and discovering more of myself and of GOD. As I write another page of my personal prayer requests, I am really praying that I will be able to grasp more of the Lord this 2020, forget about myself, focus more on Him, listen to what the Lord has to say, hope in Him and to truly trust Him; that He can provide and will make the impossible possible.
