imagine the earth was destroyed by humanity (as it goes), and you and your entire post-apocalyptic friend/coworker/generation ship group were all stuck on a space station in another solar system after earth was destroyed. this sucked, and after a good long while being sad and missing earth you started spending a lot of time hanging out the station's heavily modded private full-dive VR minecraft server To Cope (TM)

and you all recreated your whole hometowns and favorite places in your very realistic minecraft server, and eventually you just kinda. stopped logging out. and the way the VR system worked, when your bodies died, your minds stayed, so you all eventually died of old age or whatever but you were just chilling in there for hundreds of thousands of years, living in VR minecraft forever

and then one day a fucked up little gnome appears and starts screwing around with your stuff.

in your private minecraft server

and it doesn't speak any language you recognize, and its autogenerated player model does not look human, and you suddenly realize you all assumed nobody would ever being able to touch your server because it was hosted on an offline local network on the station, but you didn't actually seriously protect it against new people joining or anything, so if anything out there ever got onto your space station and got physical access to your systems they could absolutely get in and wreak havok on your server.

you're still playing in survival mode and you get booted if you die. you don't even have access to an outside terminal anymore so all you can do is manually kick them from the server and pray. and all of your brains are uploaded in here and now you're being stalked by alien goddamn herobrine.

anyway from what i understand this is basically the plot of the outer wilds dlc from the inhabitants' perspective. rip

I wonder if there's like. Gothic and edgelord teens in the Unknown, Wirt notwithstanding. Something's percolating in my brain, a combination of the flamboyantly evil beast cult of penny dreadfuls and the preteens playing a high stakes game of tag with wirt.

The idea of communing with dark powers and such is very appealing to middle schoolers and such. It's why Ouija boards and bloody mary is popular at sleepovers.

However, there's a lot of edelwoods around. There's at least one decent-sized grove in every town Wirt passes through. This implies to me that everyone knows (or knew?) at least one person who got grabbed by the beast, so as cool and edgy as it would be, the guy's too much of a bastard for anyone to try and summon him over a game of truth or dare. Everyone has a personal grudge against the guy, and no amount of goth aesthetic is gonna change that.

Wirt is not a bastard.

Wirt is more powerful, more dangerous, more edgy, and at the same time less of a threat. Everyone's heard campfire stories about him doing spooky stuff in the woods, but nobody's got a dead friend. Well, except one, but all the evidence says he had it coming.

What's more is, Wirt is relatable. He was sixteen when he got the crown of thorns. Not only is he an elder evil of the endless night, he's a kid like them. One who ran away from home to live in the woods, a common fantasy of kids around the globe.

What I'm saying is, imagine some kid stammering out "wirt palmer, wirt palmer, wirt palmer" three times in a bathroom mirror and then having a mixture of relief and disappointment when nothing happens about it. Imagine some schoolkids making up their "Pilgrim Club (not a cult)(TM)" to be spooky and incorporating misremembered wirt-lore into their chants and rituals (maybe a parallel to the Kung Fu Ghost Hunting Detectives?). Imagine all the things people do in youtube videos with "I _____ at 3AM (NOT CLICKBAIT????)" type titles. Imagine Wirt becoming a cross between Bloody Mary, Bill Cipher, Herobrine, and Slenderman for all the edgy teenagers in the Unknown.

I think that teenagers being dumb and having weird interests that shock and scandalize adults is definitely A Thing in the Unknown too, so yes. Definitely. Absolutely. There can be a group of edgy stupid kids (and later, several groups of edgy stupid kids) who mess with dark powers named Wirt.

I imagine it would take quite some time before our boy learned of the existence of these dorks. He'd probably be more bemused than anything, one of those "This is my life now, I guess" things. At least they're slightly less afraid of him.

Beatrice would add this to the long, long list of things she's never letting him live down.

Side note--I've never played Minecraft and had to look up who Herobrine is. You learn something new everyday!

SHIT I WOULD WANNA SEE IN A SOW REWRITE: a non exhaustive list in no particular order

(read more for length and generally being critical of SoW)

• give a name to more story relevant weapons. Voltar is cool, but I wanna know what are the names of Ingressus' kickass flame blade, and thalleous' sword, and Achillean's staff! Mostly cause I wanna refer to them more easily for Symbolism(tm)! ALSO an opportunity for Senn&Ria bonding over naming her spear!!

• SPEAKING OF SWORDS give thalleous' sword to Ria. NO HEAR ME OUT; she starts the story with her spear, sendaria burning, killing Tygren ect. When Tygren dies SHE gets the sword instead of Senn, and gives Senn her spear (from her point of view, she's giving back a weapon she trusted to protect herself, she's now protecting him and signaling that she trusts his craftsmanship. Subtextually it signify the rift that forms between them as she gets more into hunting Voltaris down and Senn gets closer to his heritage). She keeps using it throughout the story, culminating in attacking Senn with it when he surrenders in Northwind, which he deflects with the shield song like in canon. Anyways, Senn comes back from Hailstone, rejoins the group and Ria is happy but doesnt trust him the same until the Final Battle(tm). Some random element (doesn't matter what, were doing symbolism here) makes it that she loses/cannot use Thalleous' sword, at which point Senn gives/throws her her spear because PLOT TWIST: THE REAL SOLUTION WAS TO LET GO OF AN ARBITRARY SYMBOL OF STRENGHT AND INSTEAD PUT FAITH IN LOVE, TRUST AND FAMILY ALL ALONG, Pythus gets eviscerated, happy endings all around

• speaking of Ria, you might guess it from my last point but GIVE MY GIRL A CORRUPTION ARC. Gimme women's wrongs! Let me watch her go from 'i wanna be just like Thalleous (the cool ex-soldier with awesome stories)' to 'i wanna be just like Thalleous (the guy who threw a kid off a cliff)' and find herself on the way! I've heard people find her overpowered and honestly,,,, yeah kinda but idk how to fix that (also power scales aren't really real to me). You know what's real? CHARACTER ARCS. Plus free Senn angst and frankly I love that. SUBPOINT: could Herobrine be like,,, a character? You're telling me two major characters made a soul pact with a demon entity from another realm and that never paid off? What is Herobrine even gaining from this I MUST KNOW

• MAKE THALLEOUS A VILLAIN PROTAGONIST 2024 okay ik he kind of already is, and ik im basically Thalleous' number 1 hater, and ik this is my complicated relationship with my own father speaking BUT REGARDLESS. Have him do shady stuff before season 3 and just sliiiightly more often pls. Let him be a bit manipulative! Let him lie a bit more! Let him kill a disarmed opponent or strike someone in the back! Let him even be outwardly prejudiced a bit more openly. I'm not even gonna argue his responsibility in the Great War cause thats no the point but you can't tell me he isn't morally grey. Let that little bastard man shine! Honestly im (more than) a little disturbed by the narrative expecting me to a agree with a guy who preached genocide, after all we've seen him do (once again, the child yeeting wasn't great). Please just have someone tell Thalleous to fuck off. Please.

• ALMRAK SHOULD BE USING CRUTCHES OR A WHEELCHAIR INSTEAD OF A CANE. A CANE IS ACTUALLY MOST OFTEN USED FOR BALANCE ISSUES. THIS IS AN ABSENCE OF LEG ISSUE. That's it that's the point.

• ACTUALLY IM NOT DONE i find Almrak's entire character,,, strange. So the only visibly disabled character in the show is Voltari. Cool! He's the only Voltari portrayed sympathetically (Ingressus does not count, he's the main villain). Less cool! It's heavily implied the reason he's sympathetic is because he's disabled and therefore cannot fight (debatable. Give my man a crossbow). Pretty bad! I'm not physically disabled (diagnosed) myself but I am a Sufferer of some kind of chronic pain and autistic (and the mental Horrors), so idk how relevant my commentary is but there's a bunch of things I don't like here: 1) a disabled character can be optimistic for sure, I love that actually! I dont love how tied those two things are tho. Almrak is the only optimistic Voltari we meet, and while I like the trust he has in his people, his behaviour is oddly reminiscent of those inspiration porn video about how incredible it is that disabled people can be *gasp* happy. This also has the unfortunate implication that the only way a Voltari becomes trustworthy is by becoming/being made harmless? Which is kind of a reach but also tracks a little to much for comfort 2) his death (HE LIVES IN MY HEART, AND SO DOES DELTHEUS) but in canon he dies. And he does so without even really defending himself? Just lays there waiting for the sword? Not only does that seem weird at all (you have a CANE baby BEAT EM UP) it seems out of character for The Only Not Depressed Voltari to just,,, accept death. Mostly the narrative seems allergic to giving him agency. 3) he was created specifically to prove life for the Voltaris was hard (it's somewhere in the supplementals). First, do you think accidents don't happen in other Clans? Thats stupid. And second, ew. This, to me, shows that I'm supposed to look at Almrak, a character living his best life, hopeful for the future, reaping the benefits of a close knit community supporting and respecting him, and feel what, sadness? Pity? That seems incredibly disrespectful. And I say all that as an Almrak lover, he and Deltheus are among my fave. Now, thats a lot of issues but I feel like they could easily be fixed in 3 easy steps: 1) more rep. Just by adding a sprinkle of disability rep to the cast, Almrak stops sticking out like a sore thumb because he's disabled, and starts sticking out because he's a genuinely interesting character with a unique worldview. Wild i know. 2) LET HIM LIVE give him agency in this. Im not saying he should fistfight a Netheran, but let him try to flee or something. 3) now, disability can absolutely be caused by a hostile environment, there's nothing wrong with that. So my solution here wouldn't be to avoid that, but to show some other hardships as well? So it's not Just That? Like, idk, Deltheus remarking how much better the food is in Hailstone because Humans can stockpile and the Voltaris were starving before? Mentions of lacking medicine? Offhand mentions of dead family like they did for Thalleous and Galleous? Idk man, just dont let disability be the Worst Fate in your story. Please.

• Either more of the Necromancer Arc, or none at all. Listen, I love my cat girl necromancy as much as the next guy and Xaria is one of my favorite characters, but, as is, it feels disconnected from the rest of the show and not in a good way. I love the idea of having a more down to earth/everyday pov of the SGW but this Arc doesnt feel different enough to work for me. The characters arent in more danger or difficulties then in any other arc, they arent more developed (actually, kinda less. Why was Lucan in jail? why is Nikaa so anti necromancer? what even was the catalyst of the necromancer movement starting? i guess well never know those important character motivations), they don't really explore more down to earth stuff (human politics! survival in Ardonia during the War! maybe explore WHY people join factions like the Necromancer or the Legion!!) and, because SoW as a story is so focused on individual actions and heros, and the Arc offers neither those nor its own flavor, it ends up feeling pretty redundant, which is a shame. I guess a way to fix this would be to actually lean in to it's separate aspect and maybe focus on the building of a revolt against the Nether (and mayyyybe link that with what the necromancers had going on? maybe? Who am i kidding they'll never give my blorbos the love they deserve. Xan, Xaria, no one gets you like i do)

• I do not know how to fix the K'arthen arc. I do not know if the K'arthen arc can be fixed. To whomever is out there trying to fix the K'arthen arc: you are an endlessly brave individual and i send you power on this journey.

Aight that's it for now :) there's way more (i havent even touched my beloved abbigail!! barely touched on the voltaris!!) but im trying to stick to canon. feel free to agree/disagree/add your own stuff!! i havent read the script in a while too, so i most likely forgot stuff

A random compilation of Creepy Minecraft Stuff

With the announcement of the Pale Garden and the Creaking, I decided to make a quick list of random Horrors tm that Minecraft has. For this I am only including official stuff produced by Mojang, no mods or fan stuff here.

This was made in a rush so some stuff may be incorrect or missing curcial info. Feel free to correct me and add your own additions!

FAR LANDS

During the Indev Phase, MC was introduced to 'infinite world generation'. Players discovered that if you travelled between 12,550,821 to 12,550,824 blocks from the world origin, the Noise Generator (which is what helps shape the terrain of an MC world) would stop working and begin to generate random world terrain with no rhyme or rhythm.

Attempting to go any further would eventually result in the game no longer registering blocks and leading players to fall into the void.

Below is a screenshot of an example of the Far Lands.

HEROBRINE

A famous Creepypasta started in 4Chan and popularised by a streamer known as Copeland. During a standard stream he was playing the game as normal when he noticed in the distance a copy of the player model Steve, but with white eyes. Copeland ended the stream shortly and thus began the legend of Herobrine.

From there it began to spread, with may theories and speculations about who or what Herobrine is. Some details include

Stalking players from a distance

Building Sand Pyramids in the ocean

Making 2 x 2 tunnels

Others believed it was Notch's dead brother haunting the game.

As of writing this (30/09/2024) Herobrine has not existed in any version of vanilla Minecraft, nor is there any entity that behaves or acts like him. Herobrine however does exist in official Minecraft media, such as the Update Logs showing they have 'removed Herobrine', official artwork and as a player skin in the Console Editions of the game.

CAVE SOUNDS

Minecraft has various ambient noises that play in specific areas. In Caves they have a much more industrial vibe to them, which combined with the atmosphere, dark fog and increased Mob spawns make it much more sinister. You don't need to be in a cave, if you're near one they will still play.

Sounds include winds, wooshes, violins, metallic bojects moving and echos.

SOUL SAND

The texture for Soul Sand has what appears to look like scared faces. The original theme of the Nether was hell so it could be seen as trapped souls.

BASALT DELTAS BIOME

Basalt Deltas is a biome in the Nether. The biome itself resembles the aftermath of an apocalyptic event. The blocks are all grey or dark, their are ashes that constantly float through and various lava pools will spawn. The sound of ticking can be heard in the ambience.

A popular fan theory I enjoy is that the Basalt Deltas is the aftermath of a nuclear bomb. The block types resemble the destroyed debris, the floating particles are the ash and dust and the ticking is a Geiger counter going off.

Hi!1! Ive been a bit busy, havent able 2 b posting anything!!

Recently i got a weird icon on my computer, n i joined and it was minecraft!! But console edition :O

I dunno how that happened, but i joined n wound up meeting up with a school friend of mine!! Apparently she had the server messaged 2 her on her xbox, her name's samara, she's cool B) she also intrudced me to a buncha her friends- Rift, Smile, Obi.. apparenly obi used 2 babysit her :D

Headcanon A:  despite the fanart i think eret probably doesn't dress up in 6-inch heels all day everyday and probs only for special occasion. while eret may be a King with or without the crown they also fought in a war and i feel like they wouldn't like to be Constantly Fashionable all the time.

Headcanon B: i think it would be funny if eret could just Know things. kind of how like jon from TMA just Knows things. like he'll just be vibing one day and then "dolphins can sleep with one eye open" pops into his head randomly.

Headcanon C: i like to imagine that loneliness is something that eret is very familiar with. bc of the Herobrine-ness (tm) i think people would be wary of them so they wouldn't have had many friends b4 the smp. so after the betrayal and becoming king eret would just have. a Very familiar feeling of loneliness.

Headcanon D: eret is the astrology bitch that has everyone's charts memorized. i dont even believe in astrology but i bet that eret would be able to predict people's entire futures just by reading their horoscopes just because they're Like That.

Things about the creepypasta improv thing my close friend and I have been doing since 4th or 5th grade (maybe longer):

- My character doesn't really have a cp name yet but has been around for 401 years

- My character, when not at the mansion, is roomies with JTK (and he steals cheese its)

- Vivian's (the close friend) character is close to Slenderman and has a older sister bond with Sally

- Aside from the Jeff The Cheeze Itz Snatcher gag we have more running gags

- Such as Masky locking Toby in the closet when he's annoying only to turn around and see Toby standing there.... MENACINGLY (lol)

- LJ punts Mr Widemouth across the mansion weekly

- EJ is no longer allowed to cook for others after the barbeque of 2017. We miss you, Butler Bill

- Tuesdays and Thursdays Viv's character takes pets and children out the mansion for a playdate while everyone else has some fun

- Viv's Hidden Stash of Tuna TM

- My Hidden Stash of Vodka and Rum TM

- My character might have a problem but then again immortals aren't really affected by alcohol like most mortals are

- Speaking about my character: Holy. Pets.

- They have a bunch of guard dogs (despite them all being guard dogs they are pampered like you wouldn't believe)

- Pastas respect COVID stuff. Slender ordered everyone to scatter until it's mellowed out alot. Slender caught it at some point. They say get the vaccine and wear ya damn mask.

- There's a "Community Garden". It's just a few pitcher plants, some Butterworts, a killer cow plant (courtesy of Ben pulling some strings), a small patch of wither roses (courtesy of Herobrine), and a oran berry plant (courtesy of a few poke-pastas), rose bushes, etc

- Holidays are fun too

- Christmas time is filled with my character and Viv's taking Sally, Jane, Clockwork, and Nina out for a "girls" night

- Granted Nina only gets taken along bc despite the love-hate relationship between my character and Jeff, Jeff deserves time away from Nina during the holidays at least

- Also despite Jeff hating Nina he appreciates the knives she gives him (and return he gives her some sort of card)

- Due to staying in the vents constantly and stalking everyone my character gets everyone what they think they like would like

- Christmas lights everywhere. Splendor always gets Offender to put the star on top the comically large tree just bc

- Despite it not being Christmas music, everyone listens to Hotel California by The Eagles

- and watches Christmas movies (what was that Christmas movie with Tim Allen?)

- Everyone plays in the snow. Jeff decides to start a snowball fight and Sally makes a snow man.

- Everyone wears something festive and it's normally an ugly sweater thanks to Trender

- Spiked nog anyone?

- Thanksgiving includes everyone gathering together and having fun

- A small hunting trip is planned instead of a football game (the hunt takes place the day prior bc no one wanna miss the parade)

- Sally's favorite float is the Charlie brown float

- You know how the president pardons a turkey? Slender pardons a victim (and has been doing it since meeting Viv's character bc of a joke Viv made)

- My character makes mashed potatoes or some sort of really outdated dish from the 1700's

- The Slender Bros, Viv's character, Sally, Toby, Smile Dog, Jeff, and Nina all watch the dog show after the parade

- Nina is kinda allergic to dogs and doesn't really like them but bc of her lingering obsession with Jeff she puts up with it

- Offender and Trender argue over what dog they think should have won (funny to watch to grown immortal-ass men argue over this)

- Slender carves the turkey

- The pardoned victim is allowed to stay for dinner granted a majority of memories get changed (not really erased, just changed)

- My character, Jeff, and Ben all walk through the woods before dinner and get fucking plastered (and think no one notices....everyone notices)

- the week of Thanksgiving the tree gets put up (acceptable if it's the week of Thanksgiving, any other time then it's just weird)

- My characters mom, (considered the co-founder of Hell) pops in, steals a couple slices of pie, and leaves

- Halloween is celebrated kind of like Thanksgiving and Christmas

- My character decorates the mansion with various bones

- 31 Days of Horror Movies (at some point it's decided to watch Earnest Scared Stupid and some of the serious dog lovers opt out)

- The Slender Brothers dress up as the three musketeers. Splendor is Porthos, Offender is Athos, Slender is D'artagnan and, Trender is Aramis

- Jeff and my character do a duel costume by dressing of as Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer from Cats (musical not movie, duh) alternatively they dress as Rum Tum Tugger and Mr. Mistoffelees.

- Sally dresses as Carrie or a fairy princess

- Jane, Clockwork, Nina, Viv's Character dress up as four of the five muses from Hercules (Viv changes last minute to a cat due to her character having cat ears and a cat tail)

- Toby, Masky, and Hoodie originally wanted to dress as the three musketeers but after slender took that idea they decide to dress up as separate things. Toby dresses as Masky. Masky dresses as the phantom of the opera and Hoodie is a ghost.

- Smile dog dresses as a hot dog :P

- Masky and Hoodie make a day of it since Slender gives them holidays off. They eat cheesecake in the woods and just spend the day together.

- Toby spends the day alone but still celebrates in his own way. Eating waffles.

- Offender (in our improv thing he's not....yeah....he's just a hopeless romantic that does consensual hook ups) and my character spend his their leaving roses out at restaurants and going to bars for hookups. They have a bunch of stuff worked out.

- Viv and Slender spend the day in bed or lounging in the living room watching some cheesy comedy.

- Trender spends the day as a self care day seeing as he's alone at the moment. Every day is self care for him but it's even more on Valentine's Day. He goes all out and even treats himself to a fancy restaurant.

- Splendor likes going to neighborhoods and leaving cute little poems on people's doors then heading to the zoo for personal time.

- Nina harasses Jeff who, in return, leaves the mansion and heads to the apartment him and my character share.

- New Years is something everyone celebrates. While some have resolutions others have new quotas they're trying to meet.

- Sally tries to stay up and watch the ball drop (she's only seen it drop twice before falling asleep)

- My character and Viv's character get shit faced

- Jeff normally sits there with a beer in one hand and Smile Dog beside him

- that's really all that consists of New Years

More about our two characters:

My character:

- a 401 year old demon thing

- in our universe hell is ran by the 7 devil's as well as my characters mother. Hells more of a city than a pit.

- Has lived with Jeff as a roommate since late 2018

- Use to be with Herobrine but broke it off with him for unknown reasons.....they're civil and still good friends. He's one of those people that could make a good boyfriend but is best as a close friend

- On their 400th birthday a crackening happened in Hell that enhanced their powers and they were hunted by Zalgo. Luckily a truce was established.

- Has been by Viv's character side since her characters soul was first created. More in Viv's Character's section

- Y'know those dogs that were talked about in the beginning? They primarily stay at their mothers mansion in Hell.

- her character managed to get everyone's favorite dwarfed rag doll cat from the internet

- Her character use to be with Entity 303 and ended up Slenderman

- that makes two of us who were with a Minecraft pasta and ended up with a slender brother lol

- I think her character is called Kat or KC so for now imma call her character Kat

- Kat has an addiction to tuna and milk

- Also has cat ears and a cat tail which are both very sensitive

- when Kat's soul was created my character was created. Even though Kat has been through many many reincarnations my character has always been alongside her. Even though my character doesn't die they act as a guardian towards Kat.

- Has a tendency to sit up in the cat walks and within the walls of the mansion alongside my character

- Gets lost in the forest from time to time and needs help getting out

- Despite being with Slender she has her own room to store her weapons and stash her plans.

- If I'm not mistaken Kat also was with Toby for a short while but doesn't talk about it much. Imagine dating your ex-lovers boss lol

- Disappears for up to a week sometimes without saying where she's going and when she comes back she acts as if nothing happened

- When both Kat and my character started living in the mansion they shared a room for about a year.

- Kat had a personal garden that was completely wiped out by Zalgo before a treaty was established and she still hasn't forgave him

- The garden mostly had marigolds and a few small plants. The only one that really mattered was Audrey the Venus fly trap.

I was disappointed and genuinely kind of uncomfy with the hermatr*x plot (sure, I'll make sure it's untagged too, I don't really know the importance of that but it's important to OP) and I can explain exactly why I don't like it from a plot and writing perspective, including the bit about what OP called gamejacking, but I've never been good enough at character study to be able to figure out how it got that way besides Doc(tm). This is an interesting analysis, especially the bit about Grian being able to play a really good foil because he DOES. I'd never thought about it before and a lot of people say he has Main Character Energy but really I think what he has is Foil Energy.

Also I'm noticing a theme with Doc and the way he ends plotlines. "Oh it was a theme park all along haha!" "Oh none of this was real :)" "oh this idea to take over the world literally only failed because Herobrine himself showed up to stop me and also it's kinda not real maybe" like it feels like Doc doesn't know how to end stories without trivializing them tbh? And/or doesn't realize that that's what he's doing? Hmm.

i think… i think the difference between area 77 and hermatr*x for me is that, like. the quality of any doc duos plotline is determined not just on their ability to yes and, but also their ability to set like… reasonable limitations? like, if you leave doc alone he’s going to go Buck Wild, and part of what makes an enjoyable plotline is getting him to go in the right direction

a77 feels more generally tightly contained and moderated because you have scar serving as a really good counterbalance to doc; doc’s still doing crazy stuff but you have this somewhat grounded sense of reality with the story because scar is insanely good at cohesive build lore. and then you also have like a couple predetermined endpoints because grian knows how to effectively play a character foil, and the time machine was well-developed and interestingly thought out, and you have other factions vying for power like cub’s solo act and falsewell. pretty much the only part of a77 that falls flat is the very ending, and the reason the “it was a theme park! :D” ending flops is just because it… honestly felt like doc needed to “win” the plotline somehow?

but then you compare it to hermatr*x and your core duo is ren and doc, and normally ren’s great as a duo member… except the reason he’s great is because he’s good at yes and, and if you start yes and-ing doc, he just kind of keeps escalating until you both rocket face-first into the sun. hermatr*x didn’t involve as many people in interesting ways, so you didn’t have that constraining factor, and the result is something that honestly ends up being “doc tries to decide Official Hermitcraft Canon” from the outside and that, like, just does not work. the conclusion of hermatr*x is what, as an occasional rper, i’d call “gamejacking” – making huge decisions about the narrative and characters in it without gamemaster/player approval. also in general it’s just… weirdly disconnected.

if you explain a77 to me i’m probably gonna have a really good time exploring the implications of what some of the side stuff could mean, and i’d be motivated to watch it more. but every explanation of hermatr*x has made me less and less interested in it, like, you want me to subject myself to doc’s constant grandstanding and the payoff is nothing was real? (smdh, why call it matrix when it isn’t even a trans allegory? cringefail /lh)

anyway yeah i just like… hermatr*x had promise, but it wasn’t executed as well as a77 because it didn’t have enough interesting moving parts. it just kind of… Happened. and ended with doc godmodding. it could’ve been decent, but. so far nothing has topped a77 yet, with the exception of maybe whatever the evil xisuma arc was originally supposed to be.

i could also probably talk about how there Were some warning signs for what happens if you let doc play god too much, at the very end of s6, because looking back on it the hermit ai thing, um. did not work. that was weird. thanks herobrine for shutting that plot thread down. this post is too long for that, tho
