Do you guys think Garrus was angry at Shepard
Do you think that when she sent him away he had to be restrained by everyone on that shuttle to stop him from getting back to her
Do you think that every time he found himself getting angry at her he felt so selfish because she died to save literally every living thing but she didn’t come back for him and the galaxy is so so empty without her
they make me so sick

I know it's been said a million times that Shepard's background should have more of a weight to things, but Shepard's background absolutely should have more of a weight to things especially the ruthless background

I've replayed the whole trilogy with mods for the first time. Like it so far because I'm boring and I like playing Sheploo with some little tweaks (I like the scars and glowy eyes right before they're maxed out and making them blue cause everything else about him is red), also the couple extra clothes for a few characters

@torntruth // starter call, round 2!
Tumblr media
extracting dr liara t'soni from therum had been a close call. it's been some days and several missions since: enough time, hopefully, for her to properly recover from the mess she had found herself mired in. but it has not been ample time, apparently, to draw back the thick layer of awkwardness that he's found draped over all their conversations thus far.
shepard knows he's not the easiest to talk to, but he didn't think even he could turn chatter with dr t'soni into such a lost cause. evidently, his jokes don't land so well — maybe it's his utter lack of tone ... or maybe the terribly deadpan execution? — but he's certain that he left dr t'soni more flustered and confused than when they'd found her trapped in that prothean device. perhaps even mildly tormented, if the look on her face was anything to judge by.
( ' please, just... pretend this conversation never happened, ' was the plea she'd made to him when they last spoke. to which shepard, after a pause, could find no other answer than ' — i should go. ' )
the normandy's docked again at the citadel, following their brief excursion to luna. some routine maintenance on the normandy wouldn't hurt, and he's got several reports to hand over to anderson; a rogue vi on an alliance training ground so near to earth seems pertinent enough that they should discuss it to some degree, in-person.
... it's a convenient excuse to seek other counsel from the captain, anyway. shepard's more than a bit rough around the edges, he knows that. and he's more than aware as well that he lacks anderson's charm, and that power to inspire in the way that the man who brought the normandy together does. ( some days, he's not sure what anderson was thinking when he passed his ship and his crew on to shepard. )
Tumblr media
it's on anderson's advice that he ventures out into the citadel, datapad in hand. dr t'soni has left to spend the day ashore, according to pressly when shepard radios in for the normandy's status. it doesn't take long before he finds her in the presidium commons, at a bench in one of the several spots overlooking the lake.
" dr t'soni. i thought i'd find you here. i... " how should he continue? he doesn't really do this sort of thing. asking to sit beside a crewmate when they're both ashore and off-duty, under no obligation to converse with one another now that they're away from the normandy, and doing — nothing at all. it all feels rather ... alien, for lack of a better word. " would you mind company? "

I like, get the appeal of heinrix, especially when compared to other fictional cops because you can make him not a cop anymore (or at least a cop for you?), but my thing is that I've never intentionally romanced him and I always arrive to commoragh like. boy this man sure is touching my face a lot.

got to play some baldur's gate 3 at my friend's house, really enjoyed it and would love to continue it in the future (no immediate plans because even typing out its name would set my laptop in flames), but it made me wonder about "playersexual" companions becoming the default in this kind of game, and how i find this to be... a bit of a bummer? like i think it's cool to have plenty of gay romances at our disposal and i appreciate that some of these characters are explicitly bisexual regardless of the player's choices, but part of me does feel like some awkwardness reins when everyone in your party is dtf at the drop of a hat. the group dynamic feels awkward (because they're all sort of competing for the player) and i think you miss out opportunities to tell stories about specific experiences related to how sexuality affects how we navigate the world (and i don't mean exclusively gay/lesbian characters here--bisexual characters are bound to have a different experience in a world where everyone isn't bissexual by default, and sometimes these experiences are relevant to tell stories about too). mostly it feels sort of... indulgent in a way that makes me connect less with the characters. like mass effect has tons of problems with a lack of same gender romance options but i appreciated having to create different characters to romance different companions. it made me go through the game in new ways that i wouldn't have chosen before. idk i don't think playersexual party is inherently bad or anything, it's just not my preference and i hope it doesn't take over as the default for every RPG with romantic elements

Also absolutely no offence to all of my beloved pink haired queers in my life, but do you know how devastating it is to learn that we could have had silver-haired cougar MILF Liara Portyr in full plate armour in BG3 and instead got the perky pink haired young thing on the right
