what do you think diluc's mbti is?? (I've been hyperfixiated on it sorry) in his pdb he's intj which people disagree on (personally I feel like he's isfj since there's a conviction agreement that he is)
Long story short, my gut says istj, but my brain can see the value intj. Tbh, I cannot see a single shred of fe in him. That boy absolutely reeks of tert-fi. Like his whole crusade after he found out Kaeya was a spy? Peak tert fi. If he were fe, he'd see the value in the Knights of Favonius. But he can't stand them due to a personal grudge. That's fi as fi can be. He is extremely fi to the point that it blinds him.
As for why I say si over ni, I don't really see any ni in him? Nor do I see inf-se. That being said, do I see si in him? Or inf-ne? No. LOL But going based off of vibes, he comes off as istj to me.
#ekolu.headcanons#diluc#the thing with fe that not a lot of people understand is that fe is objective#it is based upon objective logic (aka logic outside of the self)#fe bases its values upon what *society* views to be true#people look at extraverted feeling and assume that bc it says 'feeling' they must be emotional#what they dont realize is that all judging functions are based upon logic#extraverted judging functions are based upon things that are objectively true#aka they are the most divorced from logic#diluc however is the opposite. he is VERY emotional and makes emotional decisions#his values (aka the feeling function) are based upon what he PERSONALLY feels to be true and right#he doesnt give a damn about what society says to be right#therefore he's fi#logically i know it makes more sense for him to be an intj#but i feel hes very driven by his past#i feel hes very affected by the past#he doesnt seem to be very present or future focused#i also dont sense much ni from him? he gives off si vibes#so i fully admit me typing him with si is just based upon vibes and stereotypes LOL#but what i do know for sure is that he's not fe

ok hi guys. it’s been a while. i wrote this analysis back when Mag 187 aka Checking Out aka The One Where Helen Dies first came out and literally ever since i’ve posted it i’ve wanted to redo it because it feels. lacking. listen if there’s one thing i hate it’s incomplete media analysis and i must right my wrongs lest i be forced to look upon myself and crumble from within. that being said, i’ve been putting off this rewrite for a long long time bc Life Gets Weird. tldr this was written over the course of several months so i apologize for inconsistent quality. anyways let’s get into it!
part one: recap!
it’s been a while! let’s just go over what happened. the scene i wanna focus on in particular is this one:
VICTIM
You’ve got to help me!
ARCHIVIST
[Angrily] Don’t touch me!
[THE ARCHIVIST PULLS AWAY, AS THE VICTIM FALLS AND IS CRYING]
HELEN
Oopsie. Not so easy, is it? Keeping up your humanity?
(187).
that being said i’m gonna be kind of all over the place but! i do think that’s a good jumping off point.
part two (part one): disparaging everyone’s problematic fav
in my original post my point was that in reflexively reacting to a victim with disgust and anger jon inadvertently reveals the nature of his dedication to helping victims as ego driven, especially because this line is directly preceded by him asserting his moral high ground over helen as being a “protector” as opposed to her indulgence in destruction. what i’m saying is homeboy has a savior complex. honestly there’s a lot of evidence to support that claim but i think the most obvious example would be jordan kennedy. like.
JORDAN
…Yeah. But wrong. Sick.
What did you do to me?
ARCHIVIST
I helped you.
JORDAN
Helped me? I don’t feel right, I, I just – Ah! No I don’t – argh! I don’t want this!
(184). to be clear it’s an action with a good intent! he just wants to help someone who once helped him! BUT it also demonstrates a lack of conscious empathy. i feel like i don’t have to argue this since jordan Literally vocally said he didn’t want this several times throughout the scene but the point remains that while jon’s intent is good the actual application of his saviourism removes the autonomy of those he affects. i’m not gonna touch on the “is it objectively immoral to become an oppressor for the sake of self preservation while existing within an extreme system in which all are oppressed regardless of your individual status” query mostly because i do not have the brainpower available rn to come to my own conclusion about systems of power and the way they’re represented in tma (which is a whole other rant tbh) but jon DOES rob jordan of the ability to come to his own conclusion in this debate and make his own choice, thereby removing his autonomy. you know. autonomy. free will. the thing that is central to jon’s internal conflicts. huh.
anyways i NEED to stress that i’m not saying that he’s the same as jonah or the web or even annabelle (although annabelle is a victim. no i don’t take constructive criticism). i just want to point out that his actions reflect a lack of understanding. while he’s able to empathize with the pain others experience and is eternally hyper- aware of it he is unable to view that pain through any lense besides his own and uses it in his cycle of self pity and blame, minimizing it at any point possible in the quickest way and Not prioritizing the wishes of the victim but instead the efficiency in decreasing his own guilt. anyways back to 187- both the victim and jordan are treated as props by jon (and helen) and once they serve their purpose in reaffirming the two’s sense of self are cast aside and ignored. ok from here i’m gonna get conceptual and self indulgent bc it’s my analysis and i get to bring up vague convoluted philosophy.
part two (part two): part two
let’s talk about the distortion for a sec. i refuse to believe helen and michael were both completely gone and it was just the distortion piloting their visage, mostly because… like that’s not what the text would indicate
HELEN
Michael isn’t me. Not now.
ARCHIVIST
What happened?
HELEN
He got… distracted. Let feelings that shouldn’t have been his overwhelm me.
Lost my way.
(101). it’s heavily implied that there was SOME remainder of michael in there, even if the being wasn’t him. maybe i’m way off base here but the way i interpreted the implosion of michael was that it was driven by his inability to maintain the repressed resentment and anger he had for gertrude. like it’s pretty clear that some warped version of michael’s feelings were trapped inside of the distortion and i’d go as far as to say that they were integral to his formation as it. i’m gonna operate on the assumption that michael and helen are two separate beings here for a sec even though we know they’re not. As opposed to michael’s resentment for the archivist, helen actively sought refuge in the institute and from the small amount we saw of her Pre-Distortion it seems like her paranoia is internally directed. i think you could even say that while michael was caught in an eternal battle with the concept of connection, helen is caught in a battle with the concept of self. the point is that she thinks of jon in a less “The Archivist” sense and more as just That Guy who she had an intense connection with that one time.
ARCHIVIST
So… S-so what do you want?
HELEN
I don’t know. Helen liked you, so… there’s a lot to consider. But I will help you leave.
(101). i would also like to point out that helen’s emergence as the distortion coincides with jon coming to terms with his identity as the archivist. parallels, baby! SO helen is a newly formed being that is grappling with the concept of her own existence and jon is reevaluating his understanding of identity as he comes to terms with the fact that he is turning into the thing he’s fighting against and this is all happening at the same time. live laugh love. stay with me here, i promise i’ll get back to 187. Throughout seasons 4 and 5 helen attempts to validate her own moral decisions via jon who she once saw herself in. conversely, jon sees both an image of what he could become AND arguably a representation of his past failure in her.
ARCHIVIST
It did. I think… I mean, you remember how I was back then, how paranoid. The Not!Sasha was there, and I could sense something wasn’t right, but I just couldn’t place it. It left me a suspicious wreck. Then when Helen Richardson came in, it seemed like… she was in the same place I was, but worse, further along. I thought, maybe if I could help her, that would mean… maybe I wasn’t beyond help?
(188). helen and jon lie at opposite ends of the same spectrum. both of them derive pleasure from the suffering of others
HELEN
Oh, John! This existence can be wonderful, if you just let it.
ARCHIVIST
[Sadly] I know.
(187). needless to say that a LOT of jon's arc and the themes surrounding him focus on the concept of autonomy and addiction and i think it'd be fair to say that this component is an aspect of that. repressing these qualities is both a way of reaffirming his control and also just.. him trying to be what he perceives as Good, and season 5 is the point at which this comes to the forefront of his character- particularly the line between what is intrinsic and what he truly has control over. a battle of the concept of the self, if you will. while the two share similar traits, jon is intensely moralistic while helen indulges in a twisted sense of hedonism and both are fueled by an inability to expand their viewpoint. helen fully immerses herself within these qualities and intentionally blinds herself to any concepts of morality (indulgence), and jon actively pushes back on this as hard as he can and follows black and white moral framework (repression). this means that in order for their relationship to function he must either accept her, choosing to let go in his personal battle with autonomy OR she must break out of her worldview and conform to standards of human morality which goes against her own nature.
part three: questions i do not have the answer to
so. what does it all mean. WELL. 187 is the boiling point of all this tension. we know that helen relies on jon to validate her sense of self and we know that jon sees himself in helen, both past and present
HELEN
But that doesn’t make any sense. You barely met her. You had half an hour together, and she spent most of that ranting about mazes! She was positively delirious with paranoia!
ARCHIVIST
True. But as you’ll recall, I was pretty paranoid myself at that point.
HELEN
So what? You saw yourself in her? A sad reflection? A possible future?
(187). I’d argue that 187 is demonstrative of jon’s inability to either fall into complete indulgence in intrinsic values that lack moral validity vs. maintain and image of self that does not conflict with the values he attempts to uphold in order to find internal satisfaction and yes both of those concepts are inherently egocentric as he bases his moral judgement on what he can justify to himself instead of what can be calculated via empathy. however. paired with the alternative (helen). is that BAD. is it inherently selfish to do what you perceive as good in order to feed your own savior complex? and if so, is it inherently selfish to indulge in destructive qualities as to not delude yourself? is honesty vs deception a black and white question? if not, where does helen even fall? in not deluding herself does she achieve a moral high ground? IS she deluding herself by denying the potential to be facetiously benevolent at the detriment of both her personal enjoyment and her honesty? does helen even posses the capability to repress her violent qualities? if she doesn't, does she have any autonomy? if she and jon are both inherently selfish and intentionally resistant to introspection, what makes them different? i do not have answers but i do think the text is meant to invoke these questions. i mean,
MICHAEL (STATEMENT)
There was a great evil, she said, and Michael was going to help her fight it. Am I evil, Archivist? Is a thing evil when it simply obeys its own nature? When it embodies its nature? When that nature is created by those which revile it? Perhaps Gertrude believed so. Michael certainly did. He believed everything she told him.
(101).
part 5: conclusion
so once again. what does it all mean. well! even post helen’s death jon continues to fight for autonomy and preserve his moral worldview so. i think that probably indicates something good.
MARTIN
Huh. She couldn’t help what she was, I guess.
ARCHIVIST
She didn’t even try.
(188). i honestly don’t have a thesis i just find it incredibly interesting how the themes surrounding these two intersect and play off of each other. anyways looping back to 187 i do think in a broad sense jon killing helen is representative of him choosing to stick by his convictions and keep fighting. i don’t have any good way to end this but thanks for sticking around during my self indulgent rambling!
#also apropos of nothing but#this scene reminds me of a clive barker story#truly that has nothing to do w this analysis i just wanted to throw this in the tags#anyways! hope this makes sense#i had a friend who’s never listened to tma read over this to make sure that it’s coherent#and she said it was fine so.. alice ty#this was fun! i have lots of Thoughts on tma and i should write them more often#the magnus archives#mag 187#jonathan sims#the archivist#helen richardson#helen distortion#michael shelley#tma meta#the distortion#the spiral#tma

So I was on your fandom blog and I saw that you believe Bakugou (at least in assuming) to have ASPD. Is wondering if you could expand on that? I personally see him as NPD but I'd love to hear your side of things
first off anon bless u for being on my fandom blog that takes courage cause it’s a wicked hot mess over there lol and secondly to everyone else yes im about to spend an embarrassing amount of effort overanalyzing an anime man, no u shouldn’t apply this logic to diagnosing real people u don’t know or urself, no its not that deep but yes u can fuck right off if u wanna cry about me headcanoning ur favs with “shitty” illnesses. eat my dick.
But now down to the good shit! So I actually think bakugou has comorbid aspd/npd. But for this since u said u already see him as having npd I’ll just focus on the aspd criteria but im totally down to talk more about npd as well if u wanna. (the rest is under a cut because frankly mobile users would have drawn and quartered me otherwise)
So first im gonna go thru the dsm v criteria that are required for diagnosis that bakugou fits/exhibits (leaving out the few things that don’t pertain to him just for length and also because not every person has to fit every single criteria to qualify)
1. Significant impairments in personality as manifested by
a. identity (self esteem derived from power, pleasure, or personal gain), self direction (goal setting based on personal gratification, absence of prosocial standards and culturally normal ethical behavior)
katsukis entire sense of self is built upon his ability to “win” and to always be number one and come out on top. He absolutely cant stand to be viewed as less than that because if so, his entire sense of self begins to crumble. Part of the reason he’s so antagonistic towards Izuku in the early chapters is the fact that Izuku challenges that identity. He (unintentionally and intentionally) challenges katsuki and wont give way to him (which is the right thing to do, but we see how “well” katsuki handles that). He also doesn’t have a good sense of “prosocial standards.” katsuki has created his own internal sense of morals and values, he’s decided whats worth his time and effort based on his own opinions and not on what society deems worthwhile behavior. He’s constantly getting admonished that his attitude “isn’t that of a hero” because his values are different than the ones of the society around him. But he doesn’t care, as long as he “wins” then everythings good. And its not until he stops “winning” and his behavior begins to get in the way of his goals does he begin to realize that he has a problem.
b. impairments in interpersonal functioning as manifested by lack of empathy (lack of concern for feelings, needs, or suffering of others) and lack of intimacy (incapacity for mutually intimate relationships, use of dominance or intimidation to control others)
I could frankly write a whole essay about just this bit alone but I’ll try to condense my thoughts. So. Lets talk about katsukis lack of empathy. This boy wouldn’t know another person’s emotions if they walked up and punched him in the face. Which they do. On multiple occasions. But I digress. Katsuki is known for his shitty bedside manner, his lack of concern for the feelings of others is literally what cost him his provisional license, but aside from with Izuku (who we’ve established is a source of Baggage for katsuki and shouldn’t be counted among his normal behavior because at the start of the series they BOTH bring out the worst in one another and overcoming that is part of both of their character arcs and growth and a main theme of the damn story. Win and save. Save and win. Ahem. But again I digress) katsuki isn’t vindictive or cruel in an unnecessary way about other peoples emotions. He doesn’t use them against people, it just doesn’t occur to him that they exist. But as we see katsuki grow and begin to try and change his unhealthy behavior, we see that he’s not oblivious of others emotions in the same way todoroki is (who I headcanon as autistic along with izuku (who also has adhd), but that’s a whole nother post lol), he just doesn’t know what to do with them. He can handle things like kirishima feeling insecure, because he can logically talk to him about how strong he is to encourage and support him, but really struggles with more intimate and open forms of emotional support, like with Izuku.
He also struggles with forming prosocial bonds and friends. At the start of the series katsuki doesn’t have friends, he has lackeys he controls with intimidation and fear because he doesn’t know any other way to be. He has trust and intimacy issues and doesn’t like people getting too close to him because he feels displays of vulnerability are what makes someone weak (see those asocial morals and values we talked about earlier). After his time at UA, a few large helpings of some humble pie, and the diligent and hard work of a small group of fearless idiots (aka kaminari whose literally too prosocial for his own good and has zero self preservation instincts, and kirishima who has an endless supply of patience and understands empathy and other peoples emotions to a degree that’s baffling to me) he is able to start deconstructing that idea and realizing that u can be vulnerable and let people close to u and still be strong. That the mortifying ordeal of being known isn’t actually the worst things ever. Also that when confronted with people who aren’t actually afraid of him, he doesn’t know how else to deter them from getting close to him. The fact that none of the other kids in 1-A take katsukis shit and even go so far as to pick on him and mock him and call him out on his bullshit is a MAJOR turning point for his socialization skills.
2. pathological personality traits in the following catagories
a. antagonism, characterized by hostility (persistent and frequent angry feelings, anger or irritability in response to minor slights or insults, nasty mean vengeful behavior), callousness (lack of concern for the feelings and problems of others)
I mean. Do I even have to expand on this point? I feel like no
b. disinhibition, characterized by impulsivity (acting on the spur of the moment in response to immediate stimuli, acting without a plan or consideration for outcomes, difficulty establishing and following plans), risk taking (lack of concern for ones limitations and denial of the reality of personal danger, engaging in potentially risky and self-damaging activities without regard for consequences)
this is a criteria where u have to adjust for the world these characters are living in. but even then, by hero standards, katsuki is still impulsive. His teachers are constantly admonishing him in the early series for charging headfirst into a situation, loosing himself to his emotions and anger, and letting things get the better of him because hes not taking the time to properly assess the situation, this also bleeds into katsukis inability to work with others or ask for help. He charges headfirst into a situation by himself, blows up anything in his way, and then asks questions later. His teammates are often left totally in the dark to his plans, motives, or other moves and have to just play catch up to him the entire time. In the deku vs. kacchan 1 fight we see this behavior come out in full force. He has no plan, he blows up half the building with zero regard for their goals, and leaves iida completely in the dark. Momo pointing this all out and dragging him for filth during the recap is another wakeup moment for him, having to confront the realities of his impulsive and negative behavior whereas before he was only praised for it.
so if we take a look at even just that, which is still about ¾ of the diagnostic criteria, I think u can see where this really starts to explain his personality. Katsuki is hot headed, angry, impulsive, stubborn, selfish, he gets in his own way more often than not, he struggles with prosocial behavior, making friends, and relating emotionally to others. He has a hard time comforting people and usually does so in a blunt and logical way, he isn’t great at sympathy and being soft, kind, or gentle with other people. It takes a considerable amount of effort for him to realize where his world view and his morals and goals are warped and doing him more harm than good, and he absolutely cant stand to be vulnerable or honest about his feelings with others.
All those things, imo, as someone with aspd & npd, are what make me feel like hes a good character representation of what the complexities of living with these disorders is like. Katsuki isn’t inherently a bad person, and as we see him grow and change, we see the ways in which hes becoming better, but its still hard for him. And despite what a lot of fandom thinks, if u look at the canon, the main person katsuki hurts with his behavior is himself. And I think that’s really important because people with aspd & npd are so often catagorized as abusive villians whose only goal in life is to hurt others. Whereas with katsuki we see where these things and this kind of thinking gets in the way of his goals and ultimately hurts him. and thats what I think makes him the most relatable and makes his growth all the much more satisfying. Katsuki is both fundamentally the same and an entirely different person from when we first meet him. his personality didn’t magically completely change, hes not just a tsundere whose suddenly all mushy feely and hyper empathetic, he’s just learning how to deal with his emotions and the world and getting better at being a healthy person.
So yea, those are my thoughts! There was apparently a whole 1600 words of them so my apologies for writing u a literal dissertation on this lol I just really love this fucking character

Who is Belphegor?
I mean, who is he, really? There’s a possibility that he’s exactly what he claims to be, but everything in me is screaming THIS IS A ZEKE SITUATION, and we don’t yet understand his true motives or identity. Since 15.01 aired, I’ve been playing around with theories, and I’ve got it narrowed down to a few I would really enjoy. I think I’ve talked about (or around) each of these theories in my tag for Belphie, and you can go read those posts here for further edification and general waffling on my part.
1. Belphegor. He might actually be exactly what he says he is. I mean, why NOT believe him? Reasons FOR the theory:
because he said so
his general behavior fits what we know about the demon Belphegor in a general sort of way
Reasons AGAINST the theory:
because he said so, and we’re watching Supernatural
the two characters I’ve seen most people ping to in reaction to him are RUBY (who lied about her entire motivation for befriending them and being helpful) and EZEKIEL (who lied about his identity and motives from the moment he showed up, and was actually Gadreel... which went over swimmingly)
his appearance was entirely too ~convenient~ to believe it at face value (he was the ONLY demon to pop out of hell in that mess, conveniently knew the exact spells they needed to get out of that predicament, is REALLY good at manipulating TFW specifically, etc. etc.)
what kind of torturer is AFRAID of the things he tortures? why would a demon fear a human ghost?
What kind of demon would ASK FOR A SACK OF SALT and then handle said salt as if it was nothing?
2. The Shadow. This was one of my first thoughts, even before the episode aired, because of the situation we knew to be true of Jack, where he was at the end of 14.20, and what he was DOING there-- i.e. having a friendly chat with Billie and the Shadow, and what the PR said about Jack feeling conflicted about returning to his body because of guilt. This felt like one of those situations that Billie would need to have HANDLED SOONEST, and the Shadow was conveniently RIGHT THERE to fill in for Jack. We already know he has the power to appear to be other beings (Cas faced him as himself in the Empty, and couldn’t tell he wasn’t Dumah in Heaven, for example), and can theoretically convincingly take on the form of whatever he wants to T-1000 style. That said, Reasons FOR:
Incredibly powerful being who could pull off everything we saw Belphegor do
snarky personality that also lines up with what we saw
INTENSE PERSONAL DIRECT KNOWLEDGE of the contents of Cas’s knowledge bank, his emotions and personality, feelings “i tiptoed through all your little tulips” style
can appear to be other types of beings in a way that Cas can’t perceive his true nature and accepts what he does see as truth
we don’t know the scope of his powers or abilities outside of the Empty or Heaven, or how he would be limited or affected by possessing a human-ish body (explaining his discomfort around a human soul since they aren’t relegated to his domain upon death, and his particular vulnerability to injury and pain in a human-ish body)
The Empty is outside of God’s purview, and therefore he may be able to operate in complete stealth without alerting Chuck to his presence on Earth in a way literally no other being could, making him the ultimate secret agent here
literally ZERO other demons seem to have escaped Hell during this containment breach. Every other being who got out has been a human soul.
Reasons AGAINST:
we just don’t know what he’s actually up to in canon. He could still be in the Empty babysitting Jack (not that we know that would be a limitation on where he could still be, if he could just scoop out a pile of goo-him and send a bit of himself off to animate Jack’s body for a while, but we don’t know if that’s possible, either)
3. Metatron. Based on what we know of how the Empty works, and how Metatron specifically died, there’s a good chance we’re seeing the return of Metatron for one of two separate reasons. He died without grace-- as a human-- so theoretically he would’ve gone to heaven, right? Like Jack did in 14.08? We know the Empty didn’t invade Heaven for HIS soul, though, so there’s a possibility that he may have gone directly to the Empty anyway. Though the way Amara killed him... there’s a chance he was “absorbed” into her (like she stated several other times happened when she “consumed” souls, you know? but we don’t know exactly what happened to Metatron other than he disappeared into a lil poof of darkness, so this is entirely theoretical conjecture). But I’ve long paralleled Amara to the Empty, and I don’t think there’s really a functional difference between being consumed by Amara and being sent to the empty, you know? They are both The Void. I literally JUST wrote this post, which inspired me to make a list in the first place, where you can read my thoughts in detail. Reasons FOR:
talk about someone ready to play foil to Chuck, the writer out of control in desperate need of an editor. Think 11.20, to the nth degree here.
golly he KNOWS Chuck’s whole “writing process,” and NOBODY is more familiar with the entire body of Chuck’s writing, going all the way back to creation
Even after he lost his mojo, he was still proficient in the sorts of spells we saw Belphegor pull out of thin air, you know?
he’s also the exact sort of snarky Belphegor has been
he was weirdly obsessed with Cas’s trenchcoat (lol, abomination) and had a MASSIVE jealous-on for Cas in general
the spell Belphegor used to erect the wall referencing river imagery (the river shall end at its source and all that)
metatron’s reluctance to engage in “direct combat” himself, and his comments to Cas from the get-go that he needed Cas because he’s not a warrior himself, which lines up with the “bad ghost! no!” behavior when faced with a direct confrontation
tangential to the above point, the fact he died HUMAN without supernatural powers would leave him vulnerable to injury from a ghost, as well as the “general pains of humanity” we saw demonstrated when Constance was able to cut his hand and cause him physical pain that way
Metatron, being the Scribe of God who basically possesses not only the knowledge of all of creation and a vast swath of human writings as well, would love the sort of game of pretending to be a specific demon this way, and would love the subterfuge of it all as well
He is REALLY good at this sort of manipulation
theoretically whether he went to heaven or the empty, billie was on hand to fetch him out and sign him up for service
Reasons AGAINST:
we don’t know where metatron went after he died, and if Amara did consume him it might not be possible to have brought him back (unless Amara is also part of this bigger cosmic plotting and helped his return the way she did with Mary, so this might not be a reason against after all)
would Metatron be able to cloak his true identity behind a false mask of a “true demon face” that Cas identified immediately? (unless he was, again, helped along with that by the Shadow or Amara... we don’t know if their powers would extend to that)
it’s a possibility that-- for whatever reason-- his soul did end up in Hell-- whether by nature of his “sins” or by design of some outside force (Bobby ended up wrongfully in Hell, too, so who knows), and he has actually become a demon, but this seems incredibly unlikely... would his soul have been demonized yet? it’s only been a few years... and again, this is pure conjecture for the sake of argument, and not based in anything in canon.
4. Balthazar. I mean, for all the reasons I stated above for Metatron being handy and ready to serve, and possibly getting an assist from Billie or the Empty to cloak his “true identity,” we know he would’ve been handily found in the Empty. Reasons FOR:
Belphegor kinda sounds like Balthazar... especially the way the being himself pronounced it (more like Belphagar)
readily to hand in the Empty and familiar with all the players on the board
broadly fits within the personality of Belphegor, known to have participated in a “menage a... what’s the french word for twelve?” aka an orgy
lol Belphegor is the Infernal Ambassador to France and that would be a hilarious coincidence... >.>
Balthazar is good at subterfuge, resourceful, good at spellwork (he was the one buying human souls in 6.03)
also pretty good at subterfuge and spy work, though Cas did see through him (sadly) and killed him for it once upon a time...
Reasons AGAINST:
would he be able to cloak his true identity? basically apply what I said about Metatron for this one
Belphegor’s speech patterns. He uses a lot of “filler words,” and Balthazar... didn’t. Then again, he uses SO MANY of them that it could be a deliberate affectation
the line about Cas’s trenchcoat (the one in the dirty trenchcoat, who’s in love with you), so he doesn’t have any particular reason to refer to it as an “abomination,” though it’s not entirely out of the question
5. A Random Reaper. Billie may have ordered one of her Reaper Babysitters to make sure Jack’s body remained safe and viable for when he was ready to return, as well as allow one of her reapers to... to quote Dean from 6.09... “interact more forcefully” with creation. Reasons FOR:
would report directly to Billie, and give Billie an on the spot window on the Winchesters
intimately familiar with the Winchesters from having kept tabs on them for the last several years
have the innate ability to control others’ perceptions of them and the world in general, so disguising their true form from Cas would’ve been easy
Reasons AGAINST:
do reapers have any other magical abilities beyond their known functions?
WHY would A REAPER be afraid of a human ghost? Literally their JOB is dealing with human ghosts
I don’t think a reaper would’ve been able to have been injured by a ghost, unless these ghosts have somehow been “supercharged” by the way Chuck forced their souls from hell... one screenshot of the ghost Cas smashed with the big stone slab showed a weird glowy-orange patch on its shoulder, almost as if it had been “marked by Chuck” and granted some sort of special dispensation of powers, like we know all those sorts of “marks” on people have in SPN canon, so this may not be an issue against.
Billie’s own “clean hands” policy for reapers... if that’s something that would still bind their actions if Billie gave them a direct order to play this specific role now.
Other theories I’ve considered are that it could be a specific reaper-- thinking possibly Tessa, since she was already in the Empty, too, and I just love her and hate what happened to her. Or possibly a random other demon, but again most of the reasons I objected to it being Belphegor apply to other demons even more strongly to Random Demon Minion #3, too. It might be a specific demon we’ve known in the past, or someone we’d known as a human who’s since become a demon, but again... that seems highly doubtful. It could also potentially be Goocifer, i.e. dead!Lucifer, but I don’t think the Shadow would’ve allowed him to just trip out of the Empty so easily. Though he did have a connection to Jack, and after death it’s possible his attitude toward everything has... shifted? the way Billie said hers did after ascending to the mantle of Death and she saw a bigger cosmic picture. If he’s had an enlightenment of sorts in death, this could be a possibility, but again... I think it’s less likely than the above notions but not something I can discount entirely, unfortunately. If he’d been “specifically depowered” like he’d been when his grace had been drained, that could explain his ability to have been injured by a ghost, for example, but would he even have the ability to hide his true form from Cas-- an angel he literally knows from the inside out, having possessed him for half a year... >.>
I’ll update this list as canon unfolds. :D

History
Imra Ardeen aka Saturn Girl is one of the most talented telepaths among a race of powerful mentalists, and founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Foundation of the Legion
Imra left her homeworld of Titan to join the Science Police as a teenager. However, upon her arrival on Earth, an assassination attempt was made on the life of fellow passenger and billionaire R.J. Brande. Using her powers of telepathy, Imra discovered the plot, and, with the help of two other teenagers on board, Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy, caught the assassin and saves Brande's life.
At Brande's urging, she adopted the persona of Saturn Girl, and joined Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy in founding the Legion of Super-Heroes - an organization of teenaged heroes formed to honor the legacy of Superboy and Supergirl. They traveled back to the 20th century several times and offered Superboy and Supergirl a place on the team after they passed their tests.

Early Adventures
When Alexis Luthor and the Legion of Super-Villains were about to kill Superman, Saturn Girl offered to die in his place, although a trick by Superman made Saturn Queen save her.
As a Legionnaire, Imra gained a reputation for self-sacrifice; just prior to the leadership elections of 2975, she learned that a Legionnaire would die during an attack on Earth and decided to take on that responsibility herself. Using her telepathy, Imra forced the other Legionnaires to vote her leader and then ordered them not to use their powers during the attack. However, Lightning Lad defied her orders and took her place in death. Distraught over his selfless act of devotion, Imra vowed to do all in her power to bring him back.
A method was soon developed which could revive Lightning Lad, but only at the cost of another member's life. Imra again interfered in the process to ensure hers was the life taken, but her plan was foiled by Proty, the telepathic pet of Chameleon Boy. Proty admired Imra and tricked her so that it could take her place. Upon Proty's death, Lightning Lad was restored. Despite this series of events, Imra's leadership was highly valued in the Legion, and her position as leader, despite its means of acquisition, was allowed to stand. She earned a second term the following year.

Marriage to Lightning Lad
Romantically, Lightning Lad had pursued Imra for some time, but she had repeatedly rebuffed his advances. However, after he sacrificed his life for her own, she understood the depth of his feelings and came to realize that she returned them . After dating for almost ten years, Garth proposed marriage but Imra initially rejected his offer due to a Legion rule which forced married members to retire.
After consulting with her mentors on Titan, however, Imra relented. However, the couple's retirement was short-lived; a few months after their marriage, war broke out in which all active Legionnaires were captured and the reserves were forced into action. Imra's telepathic skills were instrumental in the Legion's eventual victory, and as a result the rule barring married members was repealed. The Ranzzes returned to active duty until Imra gave birth to their son, Graym Ranzz, after which they both retired in order to devote their energy to him.
Unbeknownst to the couple, however, Graym had a twin who was stolen at birth by Darkseid and transported into the past, where he was transformed into the monster Validus. Validus fought the Legion on numerous occasions, but was eventually returned as a normal infant to his parents by Darkseid at Imra's insistence.
Imra briefly rejoined the Legion again in 2987 when Universo took control of the Earth and hypnotized and imprisoned many heroes, including her. Imra's powerful mind broke free and eventually broke Universo's hold over Earth and forced him unconscious. It was then that she realized how much the Legion was in her blood, and she rejoined, this time without Garth, who was enjoying life as a father and househusband.

Crisis on Infinite Earths
Although the Legion survived the Crisis mostly unscathed, the Time Trapper took advantage of the chaos to isolate and weaken the Legion, making them believe her fellow Superboy wasn't the the real one and forget about her recently fallen member Supergirl. Even so, the Legion endured.

Five Year Gap
However, during the "Five Year Gap", Earth's government became hostile to the Legion, and Garth became incapacitated from the Validus plague which ravaged his native Winath. Disillusioned by the government and feeling needed more at home, Imra resigned from the Legion for the last time in 2990. Returning to Winath, she and Garth took over running a Winathian Lightning Ring plantation, which became quite prosperous. Using their new-found wealth, Imra and Garth replaced their super-heroism with simple but necessary helping of others, feeding a galaxy suffering more from hunger than from super-villains. When the Legion re-formed in 2994, the Ranzzes helped them out, but did not rejoin. Instead, they enlarged their family with the birth of daughters Dacey and Dorritt, who inherited Imra's telepathic abilities.

Post-Infinite Crisis
A cosmic crisis brought back by a Hal Jordan mind-controlled by Parallax appeared to erase Imra and her fellow Legionnaires from existence.
Nevertheless, the events other Crisis unleashed by Superboy Prime and Alex Luthor restored the Legion with a slightly altered history as evidenced by the trip of six Legionnaires to the time present. Once again, Imra, Garth and Rokk traveled back to the past to induct Superboy, who Imra had a bit of a hero-worshiping childhood crush on. They also recruited the next Superboy and she personally welcomed Supergirl in the team when the Kryptonian girl landed in the 30th century.

Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes
Unfortunately, xenophobia started spreading through the galaxy because of manipulations of the Time Traper and the efforts of Earth-Man. The Legion agreed the future was becoming too dangerous for Superboy and they would not visit him again after the war against the Anti-Monitor.
The witch hunt led by Earth-Man and sponsored by the Earth Government forced Imra and her closest friends to go underground. Imra and Garth's children also went missing during that period. As a result of it, Imra became more passive while Garth got more short-tempered and emotional for a while. It was when Superman returned and rejoined the Legion that their situation started to look up.

Legion of 3 Worlds
Earth-Man had been exposed and defeated, but tension between the Legion and the United Planets was still high, and Saturn Girl often had to mediate between her husband and their beleaguered friend and team leader Cosmic Boy.
Superboy-Prime ending up in the 30th century and freeing the Legion of Super-Villains forced the Legion to recall Superman and bring two Legions of different timelines to her own universe. Imra found herself teaming up with two different Saturn Girls.
During the final battle in Vanishing Point, Saturn Girl used her telepathy to call Legionnaires of every time and universe and with their assistance defeating the Time Trapper for good.

DC Rebirth
Imra appears locked in Arkham Asylum, now changed after the next reality-altering debacle, with Maggie Sawyer stating she was arrested for stealing a sandwich, claiming where she comes from, food is free. Imra tells the interrogator she came here to speak with Superman, and even when the interrogator states the Justice League says he could be dead, she stays calm, and says that everything will be fine. When the interrogator asks why, she says because she has seen the future. As the interrogator talks to Maggie, she says she needs mental help, and only came with what is seemingly just a ring, but is actually the Legion Flight Ring.
Later, when Batman and Punch, disguised as Commissioner Gordon pass by Imra's cell, and she breaths on the cell glass, drawing a Legion Flight Ring symbol on the glass. She is seen later watching a hockey game in Arkham, and states this is the game, where one of the teams kills a player on the other team. She states everyone is doomed to die, including the Legion and Superman.
Later, Emerald Empress broke into the Asyulum to kill Saturn Girl, claiming her Eye had shown her defeat at Imra's hands. However, upon establishing telepathic contact with Imra, Sarya discovered her vision to be false -it was Supergirl the one would defeat her- and someone had tried to mislead her into kill Saturn Girl.

Before stardom, Boyd Holbrook was ‘just a hillbilly from Kentucky’
You’ll be able to by no means fairly predict the influence of a likelihood encounter. Simply ask Boyd Holbrook, new hero of “The Predator” — the most recent installment of that blockbuster extraterrestrial franchise. Holbrook says he could have by no means left the coal-mining city of Prestonsburg, Ky., for the Hollywood limelight if he hadn’t ran into actor Michael Shannon at a division retailer in Lexington. “I was working on the retailer when Michael Shannon got here in,” Holbrook recollects. “I acknowledged him from ‘Vanilla Sky’ and I requested him, ‘How do you do what you do?’ He instructed me to get into theater. “It was very serendipitous,” Holbrook, 37, says of the comfortable accidents which have formed his profession — and introduced him to an ethereal wine bar on the waterfront of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, to talk with Alexa. “I’m simply a hillbilly from Jap Kentucky.” Or a lanky fashion-model-turned-action-hunk, who’s quickly changing into a fixture of main releases, from the 2014 psychological thriller “Gone Lady” to final yr’s hard-hitting X-Males movie “Logan.” On the small display screen, the actor has loved arguably much more success, starring as DEA agent Stephen Murphy on Netflix’s hit sequence “Narcos.” He additionally simply wrapped filming on his subsequent Netflix undertaking, “Within the Shadow of the Moon” — a gut-punching, mind-bending homicide thriller instructed in nine-year chapters. (We’ll see him age within the thriller with the assistance of “The Form of Water’s” gifted make-up crew.) Extra importantly, Holbrook says, he and his spouse — Danish actress and mannequin Tatiana Pajkovic — are new dad and mom to their 8-month-old son, Day (named for “daylight — as a result of he’s shiny”). “I’ve a lovely spouse and a lovely child boy, who’s the middle of my life,” he says. The household lives in a transformed pole barn on 10 acres in Bovina, NY, but in addition retains an condo in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. “Fatherhood is the best alternative I’ve ever had in my life.” Leather-based jacket, $3,400 at Dior Males, 17 E. 57th St.; T-shirt, $65 at Cotton Citizen.Richard Ascroft As for his personal childhood, he says he was a discontented, quiet and uncultured child with a heavy Appalachian drawl. He “spent each waking hour” at his great-grandmother’s home whereas his father labored in a mine. After her demise, Holbrook dreamed of escaping his blip of a city alongside Route 23, aka “The Nation Music Freeway.” When it turned clear that a basketball scholarship wasn’t his ticket out (“Seems I wasn’t superb,” Holbrook laughs), he latched onto one other lengthy shot: slam poetry. Impressed by a scene within the 1998 unbiased movie “Slam,” Holbrook started to jot down his personal verse and to assume severely about efficiency. “Being from Jap Kentucky, you’ve obtained Loretta Lynn and Dwight Yoakam and a lot of well-known country-music individuals,” he says. “However I was into Def Jam. There was one thing in regards to the ‘burst’ [of slam poetry] that I discovered simply so goddamn horny, thrilling and clever.” After his encounter with Shannon, Holbrook stop his job on the division retailer and obtained a part-time gig constructing units at a native theater firm by means of his sister (who’s now a social employee). He wasn’t lengthy on the job earlier than one other bit of virtually unbelievable luck got here his manner. “Anyone stated, ‘Hey, let me take your image. I’m going to submit you to be a mannequin,’ Holbrook recollects of his inconceivable encounter with a scout. “To be sq., I didn’t even know what ‘mannequin’ meant. I had no thought. I was like, ‘No matter.’ A month or two later, I was nearly 21 and had a free flight to New York. My cousin lived in Hoboken and I lived on her sofa for a month. I had $1,100 and I made that final eight months by working at a espresso store in Union Sq..” However quickly Holbrook was posing for the style business’s high designers, together with Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs. “I was string-bean skinny and ravenous,” he says. “However I was the speak of the city.” Though he had solely left the state of Kentucky about thrice earlier than transferring to New York, he was instantly flying all over the world for shoots and spending prolonged durations of time in Paris. “It’s a very bizarre business,” he says, including that at this time he shuns designer seems to be for a uniform model, paired together with his assortment of seven customized hats and the 1973 Rolex he had delivered to Alexa’s cowl shoot. “I might relate to the stereotypical Jap European lady coming from nothing. Now you might be in a huge metropolis, being profitable and also you don’t need to return to your former way of life. However for those who don’t educate your self by the point you might be 30, you aren’t going to have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. I noticed it [coming].” As soon as once more, Holbrook says he had an virtually miraculous break. 5 to attend movie faculty at NYU and examine the Meisner approach with Brooklyn-based guru Terry Knickerbocker (his performing coach to at the present time), Holbrook despatched a script he’d written to indie administrators Larry Clark and Gus Van Sant. Clark toyed with directing the function (it was by no means made), whereas Van Sant provided him a function in his movie “Milk.” “It was a ‘The place’s Waldo?’ half,” Holbrook says. “I was a glorified background character. However I gave my first line to Sean Penn. I obtained to chop my enamel with the most effective of the most effective.” With perseverance and coaching, the roles saved coming. As soon as restricted by his Southern accent, two years of dialect classes have given him the vary to leap from Center American to a very satisfactory Australian accent (additionally because of some teaching from his buddy Sia). And after working with a Navy SEAL-turned-stuntman, Holbrook went from lean vogue mannequin to main man. “We have been up at 4 a.m., operating on the seaside in Santa Monica, swimming in ice-cold water,” Holbrook says of coaching for his “Predator” character, Quinn McKenna, a mercenary soldier. “I was getting used to s – – t that you simply aren’t meant for use to. I don’t assume I ever handed any of the challenges, however I can’t think about exhibiting up on set and making an attempt to wing it. That may be a catastrophe.” Nonetheless, Holbrook says that he has no real interest in being typecast as an Motion Jackson. “Christian Bale stated one thing that makes a lot of sense: ‘Play one thing overseas,’” Holbrook says. “It’s an escape. I don’t need to be myself. I don’t know why. That’s a deep philosophical query.” He hopes to make use of his high-paying roles in mainstream movies to fund tasks which have actual which means in a world getting ready to environmental catastrophe. The star is actively producing and performing in his personal movies, together with an ecological thriller for Fox titled “The Thirst,” a Nellie Bly biopic and the HBO drama “O.G.,” which was filmed on location in a maximum-security jail. “My job makes use of me,” he says. “It exhausts me. It’s very taxing. So I’m going to make use of it. I’m not going to make a silly horror movie that doesn’t have any social significance. I’m going to make stuff that’s difficult and progresses a collective consciousness. That’s what’s up.” It’s clear Holbrook’s seemingly uncanny success isn’t nearly luck or stars aligning. “I feel you might want to take duty in life,” he says. “At first you simply need to get the basics proper and have this lucid drug excessive by means of performing. Then you definately develop out of that and you might want to take management.” Mr P. sweater $295 at Mr Porter. Richard Ascroft “Chase” hooded sweatshirt, $108 at Carhartt Wip. Year 1 - Semester A - Week 7
November 4th - November 10th 2019
Music Industries
Teaching Music
In Music Industries on Monday morning, we were taught about teaching or we taught ourselves about teaching? Either way, it was probably one of my favourite sessions of Music Industries so far. Most of the session was up to us to see how Music should be taught. My professor started by welcoming us into the room with sweets and asked us how our holiday (as an Icebreaker) which was really nice as we’d been on a weeks holiday before that session and that’s where the lesson began. Right at the door.
One of the most crucial parts of teaching is to make sure that the students respect that the classroom belongs to you as a space to educate them but also to them as a space to be educated and to not be afraid to ask questions.
After being welcomed in my professor already had the classroom in a layout that he wanted it to be in to teach the lesson which made the transition between standing outside and beginning the lesson much easier as the classroom was equipped for learning.
A line that he made sure to emphasise was “A teacher’s job before anything else is to make sure a student is learning” and the way to do this is usually through assessments. There are 3 kinds of assessment:
- Self: This consists of letting a student look back on their own work and decide where they were successful and how they think they could learn better.
- Peer: This form of assessment can be shown. An example of this would be swapping work with another student to add their own input on how they feel the other’s work could be improved which allows insight on certain things you may not have noticed yourself when learning.
- Teacher: This is where you as the teacher really learn about how your student learns and you pick up on their strong suits and places in which they may require help. This is how a teacher will make sure that their student is learning.
To make sure we understood the lesson he provided to us an assessment of his own which was to plan our own lesson and present it for the class within 1 minute. When giving us this task he made sure to emphasise that as a teacher you must always remain professional even if giving a more relaxed lesson and that teaching always requires a plan.
See my lesson plan below:

Being a teacher, especially a music teacher within the teaching industry is an extremely hard task due to a number of things my professor listed as:
Noise! - Especially when working with younger years, noise can be a big problem with teaching music as in Primary and the early ages of High School, Music is usually a mandatory subject which means many students that you take may not always be interested in learning how to play music and sadly that means listening to the DJ button on a keyboard going off during your well-planned lessons.
Poor accommodation & funding - With budget cut after budget cut coming from the Government, the Arts are slowly dying as a subject and with less money for Music, schools are less likely to want to put time and effort into making sure that the subject has adequate equipment and workspaces. Which links into the next point:
Lack of administrative support
Competition with other creative arts subjects
Numbers of classes you will have, names, paperwork, parents evenings…
Small dept teams, including peripatetics (peri-pat-etic: a person who travels from place to place, especially a teacher who works in more than one school or college.)
Stress/workload
Even after hearing about the struggles of being a Music teacher, this lesson really influenced me into thinking about it due to the positive reinforcements from my professor that I would make a good teacher even though it was something that I’d always brush aside and say that I wasn’t ready for. I’m very thankful that I had this lesson as even though I knew about most of the parts of being a music teacher I’d never equated it to myself as much as this lesson allowed me to.
Approaching Notation and Analysis
Introduction to Transcription
(Worked on Notating Rhythms - Nothing to Show)
A Performer Prepares
The Cult of Virtuoso: Concertos
A concerto consists of an Orchestra playing with Soloist. It is usually used to:- Add Texture to a piece- Give an important Musician a chance to show off- Showcase a brand new instrument- Create a dramatic dialogue between the Orchestra and Soloist
Throughout the different stages of music (Baroque - Romantic), there were many different definitions for what a Concerto was which meant that Concertos varied a lot during this time but once music progressed to the Romantic era, it finally seemed to become one definition. A Classical Concerto (Cadenza) was the first seen improvised solo given to musicians within music whereas concertos within the Romantic Era were based more on the virtuosity of the main soloist rather than musical depth. Most Concertos in this time were written to show off and gloat about virtuosity.
An Example of a Concerto: (Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons - Winter)
[Vivaldi, Concerto No.4 in F minor, Op.8, RV297, “L’inverno” mut.3 Allegro - 1725]
Recording Music
Recording Studios
In this session, we went into the recording studios and were walked through how the equipment worked which I had learned from my time in College. Not much else was learned other than shaking an egg to be recorded which was quite funny.
A History of Popular Music
Mediation, Semiotic Analysis and Musical Dramaturgy
The definition of Mediation in the Oxford English Dictionary states that Mediation is an “Intermediate Agent” and a “Medium of Transition” which when written in simpler terms basically boils down to Mediation is making music marketable. It is usually seen as opposing to Authenticity as it takes away from the original meaning of the song but can also be complementary to the Authenticity of a piece of music.
When thinking about Mediation the sections usually thought about consist of:
- Live Performance - Selling Merchandise / On stage lighting choices and art
- Package Recording - Recording CDs / Vinyls / Cassette Tape (Image/Artwork)
- Filmed Concert Documentaries
- Radio Broadcasts - Live Lounge
- Feature Film Soundtracks - Netflix / Films / TV Shows
- Adverts for Non-Musical Projects - John Lewis Adverts
- Instrument Choice - Dylan Goes Electric
An Example of Mediation could be the performances of Verdi’s “La Traviata” - ‘Brindisi’ (Lost Weekend (Wilder, 1945)) as it shows how the context within a performance is important to Mediation.
Semiotics is the creating of meaning from an action or symbol. For example, some things have multiple meanings such as the sign the 2 fingers up meaning Peace when it comes to Hippies and Victory when Winston Churchill did it after the war. Most Semiotics depend on the context and the subject’s cultural codes / what they grew up understanding.
Codes are signifiers that promote a certain thought or feeling within a spectator due to the individual’s familiarity with the code. E.g. Shrieking Cellos to a Western audience would be a code that connotes horror whereas someone who hasn’t been exposed to the sound within that context may not feel the same feeling of fear after listening to the same sound.
Within the book Unheard Melodies by Claudia Gorbman, the author proposes that when an audience attributes meaning to film music their reading is based upon their experience and understanding of 3 different semiotic factors (Although sometimes these factors blur and merge):
Pure Musical Codes
Cultural Musical Codes
Cinematic Musical Codes
Musical Dramaturgy: When broken down Dramaturgy refers to techniques and principles employed in the design and presentation of dramatic works which leads to the idea that ‘Musical Dramaturgy’ separates elements that complete dramaturgical functions from ones that do not.
The terminology used when thinking about Musical Dramaturgy includes:
Added Value - Adding music to a scene gives the visuals a value. An example of this would be having one scene with different music over the top and seeing how the scene is perceived with the change.
Non-diegetic Music - This is where the music within a source is absent from the story word aka music that the characters within the story cannot hear. Example: The Opening Scene from UP - The music that plays within these scenes is obviously non-diegetic as it plays throughout the story of their lives and the characters do not react or interact with this. This music is merely there to add depth to the scene for the audience.
Diegetic Music - Being the exact opposite of Non-Diegetic Music, this music exists within the world of the characters and is often something the characters will interact with either through turning on the radio, putting earphones in or walking into a party and having the music play. Example: A scene from The Amazing Spiderman 2 in which the music switches from Diegetic (Being played through earphones in the main character’s ears) to Non-diegetic (The character taking his earphones out and the music getting louder to connote the switch between the two)
Internal Diegetic - This is the 3rd form of music within the context as Internal Diegetic refers to music in which one of the characters is thinking about a piece and therefore the audience can hear this music but the other characters within the scene cannot hear or interact with the music.
Acousmatic - Is the creating of an audiovisual space which brings the audience beyond the borders of the screen into the spaces in which the camera cannot capture. Examples of this would be like behind a closed door or behind the character as they’re being filmed walking down a corridor.
Empathetic - This music is something that is matched with the mood of the scene or of a character/compliments what the audience would think is appropriate for the scene.
Anempathetic - This music is something that is matched against the mood of the scene or of a character. Example: In Kingsman where there is a massacre within a church and yet the music is happy and upbeat.
Dissonant Harmony - A form of Anempathetic Music which creates a sense of Irony which is reflected through the music and the film scene.
Intracontextual Reference (Leitmotif) - Referencing a song that has been playing throughout a film in reference to a character or a certain event within the film. Example: Top Gun where the song playing on the Juke Box in the cafe is one that is linked with the Protagonist’s relationship with his partner which is heard throughout the film.
Intertextual Reference - Music which creates meaning through its connection with another form of media. An example of this would be if the Jaws theme playing in a different film, the audience link this sound with the idea of something lurking and getting ready to strike and therefore get worried.
Mickey-Mousing - Actions that are syncronised with the music alike what is usually seen in Mickey Mouse cartoons.
Ostinatos and Stingers - An ostinato is a repeated melody or rhythmic pattern that illustrates sudden dramatic tension (A Stinger).
Sound Bridge - Music that starts at the end of a scene and guides the transition through to the next scene.

Why I think Nobunaga is an ENTJ
WHAT IS ENTJ?
extraverted-intuitive-thinking-judging, also known as the Field Marshall or the Commander among the 16 MBTI types.
An ENTJ's function stack is Te Ni Se Fi. Now it might not make sense what these are, so let me write what they are before going into character analysis.
Te - extraverted Thinking Ni - introverted Intuition Se - extraverted Sensing Fi - introverted Feeling
ENTJs use their thinking and sensing with how they relate to their environment, and their iNtuition and Feeling are internal process that they use in judgment and decision making.
Extraverted Thinking is all about efficiency and getting things done. It is making decisions about the external world using objective facts. Nobunaga is primarily concerned with moving forward and doesn't like wasting time. "Awake now? Get to work." as said in his notifications.
Often, he thinks his idea is the best solution to a particular problem(even if Mitsuhide opposes) because the situation calls for it. ENTJs are very driven to control situations for the best results due to their Te.
Introverted Intuition is making decisions based on data, categories, and theories inside your mind. It helps guide people to see the big picture and make long term decisions (his masterplan, being the Unification of Japan).
Nobunaga is known as a master strategist, and Ni plays a great role in his judgment. He is able to use Ni to see how things could unfold, and prepare for what could happen. An example of this is the recent repeat event Transgressions of Lust where he seemed to not really care for Kazumasa's situation, but was already doing his own investigation as soon as the kid asked his help. He's like ten steps ahead of everyone that always surprises most people.
Sometimes he also gets an a-ha! moment, that gives birth to new ideas and innovative plans. We've seen two clear instances of these: the strategic use of guns to defeat the Takeda clan in his MS, and when he asked to have an iron ship built to combat their enemies at sea during his Wedding ES (after many failed attempts at victory). This also gives him the flexibility to adapt new strategies when Plan A fails.
Extraverted Sensing is what happens when you pay attention to what your five senses are telling you about the real world. It's a process that is happening now. Nobunaga seems to always have a hint of what's happening with others. He has a great awareness of his surroundings and is a quite the good observer. Sometimes he even uses it as a form of entertainment, aka trolling people. But it also shows his caring side, because he knows when to act upon things that need his immediate intervention.
His Se is also responsible for his fondness in sensual pleasures: good food, luxurious items, seeing MC in fine clothes (goodye filthy apron!), red lipstick, and seeing people's reactions, simply anything that indulges his senses.
Introverted Feeling helps make decisions based on one's own personal value system. It is also the source of purpose and mission when it comes to helping other people and making the world a better place, but since Fi is subjective, what is right for you may not be right for others, and this is seen very much in Nobunaga (notably in his ways he tries to quell his enemies? This is where the Te and Ni are in conflict).
Also, Have you ever thought that Nobunaga always skips war councils to give Mitsuhide some time for himself? I actually thought of it just now, so maybe it's just me.
But anyway, he does what he knows to be the right thing, and because his Fi is the weakest function, he may act impulsively, not giving thought to how others would feel, and might not think things through, especially when under stress (as in the way he ended act 2).
Even though their Se gives them an awareness of their environment (and the sensitivity to act on it), Fi assesses emotions internally that is why some ENTJs find it hard to share their feelings with others. Nobunaga is a known tsundere, I guess this may cover it, but he does show positive regard through gifts (fancy items, castles, territories) and other ways.
Some things in relation to MBTI in general:
ENTJs are known planners, but Nobunaga seems to have a disregard for rules. If you've read some epilogues, there are instances where he works too hard and doesn't even come talk to MC, yet at the end he surprises her with a date, because he's already finished everything he has to do.
It may seem that he spends time slacking off, but Nobunaga always has plans. It might not be obvious, but he does stick to what fits him best at the moment (hello, Te) and follows it. Some scenes show us how spontaneous he is, but behind that there’s always a greater reason. Like, when going for a sudden trip for example. Turns out, he’s actually going undercover to check villages as planned. Remember the rebel and tea cup scene in the MS? That’s a classic too.
Nobunaga appreciates talent when he sees it, regardless of rank, however, he is impatient and doesn't tolerate failure (even as far as mentioning grave punishments for repetitive mistakes) and can also come off as arrogant and condescending, which are some defining traits of an ENTJ.
Since he is a rational, people see him as cold and ruthless, especially when fighting for his goals are involved, or when he sees things as petty and irrelevant, or not something to cry and mope about. He is like "it's not a problem so why are you turning it into one?"
But he is a visionary (imagining a rich and self-sufficient Japan) and his goals are always directed toward the welfare of others, for long-term.
ENTJs are born leaders. They are ambitious, charismatic (according to Mitsuhide, Nobunaga has charm to draw people into following him, also Toshiie is always awed at how "cool" Nobunaga's speeches could be), and they have the great will-power to overcome obstacles.
This is a fanmade general typing and isn't perfect, so change is always welcome, and If you've gotten this far, thanks for reading. Let me know what you think! Addition: I think the ENTJ is very “warlord-like”. if Nobunaga wasn’t a warlord, what type would he be?

Introverted iNtuition: Secondary Function
Introverted iNtuition is applied onto the the ENJ’s dominant function (Te or Fe). As an introverted perceiving function Ni, as wells as Si for ESJs, is needed for ENJs to see from an individual perspective separate from from their dominant Te/Fe, which doesn’t take the individual perspective into play and without the use of Ni, ENJs can be extremely domineering and full of absolutes. However, when we look into Introverted iNtuition specifically and not just secondary Introverted Perception, we see that how Ni varies depending on which dominant function it is helping: Fe or Te. This means that although there are similarities in how Ni functions in the auxiliary/secondary position, they get used differently due to the dominant function’s external focus being different.
ENFJ Fe · Ni
For the ENFJ this means that they analyze people, society, and culture. They use Ni to critically analyze society, culture, and individuals. This can make them more psychologically oriented, but does not suggest they need to be psychologists (however, a decent amount of ENFJ characters are just that). This may still seem vague and you may be wondering what exactly makes this different from how the INFJ utilizes Introverted iNtuition.
For the INFJ, Ni is very individual. It is their perspective and meaning that comes before Fe. For the ENFJ, Fe comes first. The ENFJ is grounded more in the outer reality of social systems and puts more stock on these rational systems than in the individual perspective. This doesn’t mean they ignore the individual perspective. In fact, ENFJs can often see too much of the other person’s perspective being able to justify terrible things. However, they place more stock in Fe, in people as a whole and agreed upon social structures and understandings than on their own personal perspective, often forgetting their inner selves. The community or cultural systems come before the self for the ENFJ. This creates a more rigid character than one sees in the INFJ.
ENFJs put more value is social expectations and crave rules when it comes to social order. Ni creates a need for ENFJs to understand these social expectations in individuals outside of themselves. They want to understand the journeys of others and help them make decisions to get them on the right path. ENFJs aren’t going to create a philosophy to restructure society like an INFJ, but are going to look at understanding society as it currently stands, and help others find their place within it.
Examples are always better to increase our understanding of what this means. Let us look at two different ENFJs in fiction. Our first example will be Tenzin from Avatar: Legend of Korra. He is often mistyped as ISTJ because he seems rigid and stuck in a certain way. Many mistake his need to preserve his culture and way of life as Si, but this is misunderstanding both dominant Fe and dominant Si. (More on Si in the dominant Si article to come). Tenzin’s focus is on people and culture. He is rational, but so is Fe. His rigidity comes from is external feeling, believe it or not. Social order is important to him and he heavilt believes in the social systems he belongs to. His Fe is the function that wants his to preserve and enforce his culture and history, no Si (that isn’t what Si is about). His introverted perception is not Si, but Ni; which is what we are here to explore, not to prove he isn’t ISTJ.
He is interested in understanding others, like Korra. His Ni leads him to want to guide others to fit into his cultural understanding. He believes strongly in his culture and in the new society his father created. This is what makes him not seem understanding to Korra and her different way of doing things. His External Feeling judgment comes first and makes him stubborn. When he accesses his Ni to understand Korra, we not only see him open up to her perspective, but we see him be a far more helpful guide to Korra. He not only helps her become a better Avatar, but he helps her find who Korra is separate from being the Avatar. His Ni is what leads him to want to help Korra find her spiritual self. He helps guide her to find her place within the cultural system he believes in.
It isn’t a coincidence that our second ENFJ example is Clara Oswald (Doctor Who) who becomes an actual teacher. Her Ni always helps her understand other’s personal perspectives (being healthier than Tenzin she is able to use her Ni to make her less closed off than Tenzin). She constantly helps new characters, but most importantly she is always there to guide The Doctor. She helps him to not murder his own people, she guides him to give Daleks a chance, and always reminds The Doctor that although he is independent, he has a responsibility to people, to earth, to all societies. This is her Ni combo with her Fe. Her Fe makes her interested in people, and her Ni has her help them by helping them figure out their own journeys. This could be seen as meddling, but it comes from a need to help others.
ENTJ Te · Ni
Ni can be fairly similar with ENTJs, but it is obviously different in how it looks because of their dominant Extraverted Thinking, Te. Te is rational like Fe, but is focused on facts, systems, and objectivity. It is a function of absolutes, of what has been proven and agreed upon to be true. This is interesting when mingled with Ni as the secondary function. Te bases them in some sort of system whether that be law, like Alexander Hamilton (Hamilton: An American Musical) or science, like Princess Bubblegum (Adventure Time). Ni makes them analyze these systems and work to improve them. Like Ni in ENFJs, Ni is a helper not a leader in the ENTJ. Unlike the INTJ who is more of a visionary in creating a whole new system, of making outer reality fit their inner reality, the ENTJ is very much in the objective world. They work to improve on systems that are already in place, not to create an upheaval of the entire system. They are loyal in their own ways to the system they identify with.
This can be confusing when you see someone like Alexander Hamilton as an example. Wasn’t he all about new ways? All about revolution? AKA all about upheaval? Yes, but this still doesn’t contradict my early statements of Ni in ENTJs. Hamilton is still loyal to the system of the law. He improves upon it, but isn’t above it. His fierce loyalty to the law and the system over himself (inferior Fi, more on that function in other posts) is his downfall. He was so in the objectivity of the law, and honoring that system, that he let his name get torn apart. He used Ni, specifically, to improve upon already existing systems. He didn’t pick what was relevant to him, but what was relevant for the system. What works and what doesn’t. Whatever didn’t work he threw out, like Monarchy. ENTJs are not trapped within a system because of their Ni, despite their fierce loyalty to the system from their Te. They simply filter the world through a rational system outside of themselves, before turning inward.
However, many conflate Te and Si. Si does use concrete facts and figures but to perceive and to form a personal narrative. Te works outside of the self on rational conclusions and agreed upon systems That is when a character like Princess Bubblegum comes in. Her loyalty is to SCIENCE! Although she trusts that objective world (Te), her Ni drives her to constantly improve on it and break the boundaries of science itself with her constant experiments. It is why she can seem stubborn in her arguments not seeing how subjective she can be, because her arguments do come from a rational place. Her Ni is where we see her ambition to perfect and use these systems. Te systems can take many forms, but how Ni is implemented on them is not. The key word for the secondary Ni user, whether it is working on a system or working with people, is improvement.
For the ENFJ it is to improve the lives of others within society and for the ENTJ it is to improve a logical system for the sake of efficiency while remaining loyal to said system. The ENJ can seem stubborn and can be confused with stereotyped ISJs, but are in fact innovators. They are simply innovators within something, which is counter to dominant iNtuitives (ENPs and INJs that have a harder time fitting within said systems)
