Honestly, part of why it irritates me when people act performatively shocked at the homophobia in 2000s media is it wasn't just media. So you are telling me, according to the San Antonio Police Department, its not a hate crime when you:

- threaten to burn a gay couple’s house down for two years and openly calling them slurs

- kill their dog and place it’s skull and harness on top of the couple’s mailbox for them to see

- shoot and kill one of them while they are crying over seeing their murdered dog’s remains while you are also calling them homophobic slurs
