Sometimes Tinkerbell would fly into a rage and come to Hook, telling him all about the latest slight against her that Peter had perpetrated. When this happened, Hook would paint a sweet smile on his sneering lips, and remind her that if she ever grew tired of Pan she was welcome to stay with him.

I hope it's okay for me to cut in, because I 100% agree that the Fox version's lack of giving any time to the sensitive or vulnerable side of Hook is one of it's major flaws. I love Fox's Curry Hook but he's basically all anger all the time, you're right. I never would have put my finger on that until you put it that way.
(My personal favorite look at Hook's melancholy side is of course from Hook 1991 XD)
I was wondering about your thoughts on Hook from Peter Pan and the Pirates. I personally adore the disney version, but recently discovering Fox's take on the character (visually as well as character wise) has been fascinating.
Fox’s Hook is definitely visually interesting in how much he departs from the stereotypical “Hook look.” I have in the past jokingly referred to him as the “angry Quaker Oatmeal man” because of his white hair and navy blue colored outfit. 😂 And his face looks so NAKED without a mustache to me! It took me awhile to get used to the look, not gonna lie. But Tim Curry as the voice actor makes up for it.
Tim Curry is just SUCH a good actor. And he knows how to pull off a villain. His Hook is honestly very intimidating…not just because he happens to be a literal giant compared to his men but because Curry just has this way of making him sound like the perfect mixture of “refined English gentleman who loves Shakespeare” and “cutthroat pirate who will not hesitate to kill a child.” I think Barrie would approve. (And if you like Curry’s Hook in the show, you should definitely consider listening to his audiobook readings of Peter Pan as well as Peter Pan in Scarlet.)
I think the one thing that really disappoints me with Fox’s Hook is just that we almost never see him in his gentler and more vulnerable moments, the moments that to me, make Disney’s Hook very human. We do see Fox’s Hook occasionally get emotional over his mother, but his relationship with Smee is, I think, much less friendly than in Disney and he doesn’t seem to actually be all that afraid of the crocodile. Angry at the creature, yes. Annoyed and uncomfortable around it, to be sure. But not like the terror we see Disney’s Hook display. And maybe it’s because I relate so strongly to Disney’s Hook because of some of my own anxieties that it just…takes away from things a little bit to me that we don’t get that in Fox.
That said, it’s good, fun series that is under-appreciated and definitely worth a watch if you enjoy a good Peter Pan retelling. Also, if you like it, definitely go check out @masterhallmark for more Fox’s Hook content.

Looking up art references and I realized, Fox studios was so (understandably) avoidant of any possible elements that Disney's lawyers could point their fingers at that they put Captain Hook's hook on the opposite hand. 😂😂😂

His eyes were of the blue of the forget-me-not, and of a profound melancholy, save when he was plunging his hook into you, at which time two red spots appeared in them and lit them up horribly….He was never more sinister than when he was most polite, which is probably the truest test of breeding
Captain Hook and his 'gentleman' Starkey. Sadly, I don't think the captain's very happy with whatever report Starkey's just delivered.

I know Peter Pan cut off Hook's hand, but did Hook even do anything to warrant that? Like was he harassing the kids/the island or did Peter just start terrorizing him?
It's never directly addressed in the author's original material, but the implication is kind of that Hook arrived on Neverland, and Peter Pan just started fucking messing with and harassing him, and then Hook retaliated, and it escalated from there.
It's very much vague enough to leave it up to interpretation. You can conjure a version where Peter is justified, but it's incredibly easy to read in an interpretation where Hook is the truly injured party.
My personal take on it is that Peter Pan is an asshole.

The thing about Peter Pan is that he(literally) treats everything he does as a game, and neither considers nor confronts the consequences of any of his actions.
He cuts off Hook's hand and then wonders why the pirate has such a grudge against him.
He (canonically!) murders Lost Boys when he suspects they're growing up and then forgets that they ever existed.
Can you imagine being a lost boy and seeing that happen? No wonder they went home to London with Wendy!

It's a crying shame that the popular depiction of Mr. Smee is so unappealing, because I can imagine a world where Hook/Smee is a very popular pairing.
Damn it, give us hot Smee! Give us pirate slash!
(I will have to serve myself as always)

"Well," Hook said, grinning as Jane peered into the mirror. "There's no little girl I see here in this room, but a strong young pirate. And what shall we call you, then?"
Jane fussed with the hat, and adjusted the buttons of the coat, watching the reflection in the mirror.
The captain was right– there was no little girl looking back, and Jane had never felt so at ease– had never felt quite so pleased to look in the mirror at all.
"When my mother told stories," Jane said thoughtfully, "Her pirate was called Jill, wasn't she? Red Handed Jill?"
Smee perked up from behind the Captain. "You know I remembered some of those stories. I think we almost got her on the crew, captain."
"Almost." Hook smoothed his mustache and his forget--me-not blue eyes sparkled. "But go on, crewman, what will ye be called?"
"Jack," the fresh young pirate answered. He touched the image in the reflection with surprisingly steady fingers. "If my mother would have been Jill, then I'll be your man Jack."
Hook laid his hand on one of Jack's shoulders, and hook on the other. "Welcome aboard, Jack."

As we get deeper into One Piece posting, long time mutuals may notice that we treat and perceive Luffy very differently than we do Peter Pan, despite the parallels one could draw between the two.
This is because Luffy is a young adult man who grows, changes, and most importantly, fiercely cares about and respects other human beings, whereas Peter Pan is a forever-child who treats all other people as if they were playthings for his amusement.

Jack's breath caught in his chest as the captain pulled him close, giving him an appraising look with his forget-me-not blue eyes. Jack felt the cold metal of the curve of the captain's hook against the back of his neck, and his hand cupped his jaw.
"The new look suits you, my boy," Hook purred, winding his fingers through Jack's recently cut curls. "You make a fine pirate. Let me welcome you to the crew more personally."
The captain grinned broadly, and Jack nodded, not trusting his voice. His eyes fluttered shut as Hook tugged him into a rough kiss.
