The thing was, the public demand from queer groups for gay marriage to be legal was so so high in 2017. 2017! Not ten years ago, of course it was common to be okay w gay marriage.

The Labor party were in opposition and had fairly calmly promised to legalise next time they were in power. The Coalition, who were in power, reaaallly didn't want to tho. Cos they're homophobes. But demand was so high that had to do something, so they did a plebiscite

Firstly, gay rights is not such a complex matter that the government can't figure it out themselves. We vote for them to represent us, this was the coalition going mmmm I don't wanna represent that, gross. Can the population do it for me?

Secondly, queer people are a minority. We're meant to be protected by the government. The government, the coalition, did not protect their citizens

What it meant was a public debate, with tv required to air equal weight to each side. And the coalition, the Australian government, ran vote no ads

So we had a big old public debate. With the coalition getting to hate on gay kids and tag it with 'sponsored by the Australian government, Canberra' tag at the end. It's very hard to find examples of this now, but different ads ran all night long. The love the community tried to pour out was not worth the hate that was supported to speak

No gay organisation wanted the plebiscite. Once it happened they pulled their socks up and campaigned, of course, but it was devastating and devisive. I can remember a lot of reporting around how 61.6% (yes votes) of 79.5% (total votes) is less than half. Less than half of the country gave enough of a shit to vote yes put the letter back in the mail box. Cunts.

The government then didn't pass it into law! No, they had a conscience vote, which means the ministers are not required to vote down party lines but can vote freely with no repercussions. Labor, in opposition, voted mostly yes. The coalition split the vote, but it did get over and gay marriage was dragged into law

Idve prefered we didn't subject our community to government sponsored vitriol for it. And I won't forgive the coalition ever. They are cowards. I would have absolutely preferred to wait three years and make an election of it

And I hate that they get to say they moved the country forward with this liberal equal rights agenda. Cos they didn't. They looked at their job, which is to make law, and found a novel way to step on the queers a little before doing that

As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. i truly am baffled by some of the cr fandom when it comes to the topic of the gods and c1 and death in general because. the raven queen didn’t kill vax. in fact she gave him more time. she Does get the blame from keyleth and some from vex but even those two by the end were more so just holding grudges wrapped up in their own issues that were exacerbated by vax’s choices. but it was always vax’s choice. which, y’know, i’m aware of a portion of the cr fandom’s propensity for dismantling every interesting choice a character makes into something forced upon them, but the role of fate in exandria has never been like bad faith you must adhere to the path chosen for you, it’s much more like what brennan has spoken about wrt specificity: as one makes more choices they become more particular to a given outcome. but that’s not some curse by the gods that dooms characters that’s literally just. what living is.

and of course death is a complicated thing that everyone approaches differently but. god the amount of people who view vax’s dynamic with the raven queen as an injustice or his death as some unforgivable thing the raven queen caused some how? in the words of laura bailey, Were We Watching The Same Orb? it isn’t an injustice that vax, completely willing to pay whatever it cost him to save his sister, was bound to the Deal He Agreed To. his role as the champion was one he found meaning and purpose in. further, it was the raven queen that allowed him to be resurrected later in the campaign. like, it isn’t fair that vax had so little time but it is time he chose and time he was given, but vox machina tends to fall on the reaping the benefits side of unfairness of power in exandria. if what makes the gods — particularly the matron of ravens — irredeemable is that they have the power to make choices that mortals can’t like denying someone’s resurrection, how irredeemable must the group of heroes called vox machina (whose members drop like flies to be revived moments later) be to the everyday person who just has to watch the people they love die and make peace with it?

of course it sucks that vax could not have a happy ending or epilogue like the rest of vm, except of course, vex has a family and is happy and loved, and keyleth is strong and alive and protected, and i think that looks a lot like what vax wanted most.

mage viktor discourse again on twitter and all i can say in my little corner over here once again is, I don't know why the entire fandom takes it as canon that mage Viktor failed to save every world he manipulated.

Canon does not provide evidence of this. This is fanon speculation. It's a fine headcanon to have, but everyone talks about it like it's canon when it isn't. Canon is ambiguous about the outcome of the timelines mage Viktor altered. The little nods we are given point, in my opinion, towards the opposite conclusion, that he successfully averted destruction.

I've written meta on this before but in summary:

1) 'In all timelines, in all possibilities' is worded precisely, it's not 'out of all timelines'; the implication is that every time, Jayce brings Viktor back from the brink, not just in our timeline. 'Only you' doesn't refer to our timeline's Jayce, it refers to all Jayces. Jayce always brings him home. If Viktor continuously put the fate of each timeline in Jayce's hands and Jayce failed over and over, I don't think he'd say those words. And the way he says them matters. His words are tinged with wonder, not sorrow. As if over and over again, he is shown that Jayce saves him, and it continues to amaze him. He doesn't sound defeated, like this is the next in a long line of Jayces he's sending off to die. The feeling is that Viktor's faith in Jayce has not been misplaced.

2) If mage Viktor doomed every timeline, there would be hundreds (or more) mage Viktors. All running around manipulating timelines. I highly doubt the writers wanted to get into that kind of sticky situation. The tragedy of mage Viktor is that he is singular. Alone. Burdened with the responsibility of the multiverse. The emotional gut punch of his fate is ruined if other timelines led to the same outcome, and from a practical standpoint, having multiple reality-bending omniscient mages would rip apart the fabric of the arcane.

There are other points, such as there being only one corrupted Mercury Hammer and our Jayce is the only one to receive it, and the fact that if mage Viktor is as omniscient as he is implied to be, he could easily step back into other timelines and correct course, because it's highly unlikely he could sit still and watch things go down in flames. But these things can be argued elsewhere.

While I love conversations about mage Viktor's motives and selfishness vs altruism, the writers & artbook have expressed that Jayce and Viktor care greatly about Runeterra and want to fix their mistakes to save it, and that their reconciliation is symbolic of Piltover and Zaun coming together as well. Yes, they make disastrous decisions towards each other, making choices for the other or without the other, which has negative consequences for their relationship and for Runeterra - but I think fandom pushes their selfishness even past what's canon sometimes, as if their entire goal hadn't always been to selflessly help the world around them. Their final reconciliation is about bridging the gap that grew between them - the pain and grief and secrets, betraying themselves and each other - to mutually choose each other openly and honestly. Part of the beauty of their story, as expressed by the creators, is that in their final moments, they chose each other and took responsibility for their actions by sacrificing themselves to end what they started, together - and that choosing each other saved the world. TPTB have stated this - that Jayce and Viktor are the glue holding civilization together, and when they come back to each other, they can restore balance. It's when they're apart, when they hurt each other and miscommunicate, when they abandon their commitment to each other and their dream, that the greater world suffers. Their strife is mirrored in the story-world at large.

Mage Viktor is framed as a solitary penitent figure, damned to an eternity of atoning for his mistakes. He paid the ultimate price and now is forced to live his personal nightmare of exactly what he was trying to avoid for himself with the glorious evolution. The narrative clues we're given point more in the direction that he saves timelines rather than dooms them. If Viktor's actions kept killing Jayce, the very boy he couldn't bear to not save each time, it would undermine these narrative choices. Yes, Viktor couldn't stand to live in a world where he never meets Jayce, so he ensures it keeps happening. But in that same breath, he couldn't bear to see a world where his actions continue to destroy Jayce and destroy Runeterra. His entire arc in s2 is born of his selfless desire to help humanity, help individual people. He would not lightly destroy entire worlds. That's his original grief multiplied a thousandfold, and narratively it would lessen the impact of the one, true loss he did suffer, his own Jayce. It wouldn't make sense for him to be alright with damning other timelines to suffer the same catastrophic tragedy that created him. I mean, maybe I'm delusional here, but is that not the entire point? Because that's what I took away when I watched the show.

As I said, I love discussions about mage Viktor, as there's a lot to play with. All I wish is that the fandom at large would not just assume or accept the Mage Viktor Dooms Every Timeline idea as canon, when there is nothing in the actual canon that confirms this. Maybe people need to just, go back and rewatch the actual episode, to recall how mage Viktor is presented to us, and what it's implied we're supposed to take away from his scenes, and separate that from the layers of headcanon the fandom has constructed.

here's a bit of the Sonadow smut fic i'm working on for you animals

“Get. Out.” Shadow fixes Sonic with a scathing glare, but with the state he’s in he isn’t very intimidating. Sonic picks the pillow up off the ground, holding it in front of him like a shield as he approaches Shadow, trying not to let himself be distracted by that overwhelming smell. 

“Why have you been avoiding me?” Sonic ignores his angry words, cutting right to the chase. Shadow bares his teeth as Sonic gets within a couple feet, a low angry sound starting up in his throat. “I said get out! I’ve been sick, I don’t want to see you. Leave me the hell alone.” Unfortunately for Shadow, Sonic isn’t fully convinced. There’s more to it than the other hedgehog is letting on. He examines Shadow for a moment, taking in his “symptoms” and downright hostile demeanor, trying to figure out what sort of sickness the Ultimate Lifeform could possibly have. An old memory pops into his head, a conversation he had with Maddie a long time ago about the behaviour of Earth animals and their biology and…

Oh, no.

Sonic’s eyes widen in shock and horror as he takes an involuntary step back. “Shads, are you… Oh God, please tell me this isn’t what I think it is.” This has got to be the worst possible outcome, aside from like, cancer.

Shadow’s stare is withering, harsh enough to make Sonic physically recoil.

“Don’t. Don’t say it. Don’t talk about it. Don’t even look at me.” It’s clear Shadow is just as, if not more uncomfortable than Sonic in this moment. It’s got to be terrible, Sonic can’t imagine how he’s feeling. He’s heard about things like this, but he’s never had the displeasure of having to deal with it first hand. 

Despite his newfound understanding and pity, Sonic pushes on, taking another step towards Shadow. “You’re… in heat?” A growl rips out of Shadow’s chest, the sound sharp and a little frightening. Sonic hadn’t ever heard him make that noise before, even when they’d been fighting to the death. 

“I said don’t talk about it. Are you really that stupid, you can’t follow a simple instruction?” 

Shadow’s words would’ve hurt Sonic if he didn’t understand what was going on and why Shadow was behaving so poorly, but he understood full well, for better or worse. Sonic decides to take a major risk, one that might just get him strangled, and he sits down on the edge of Shadow’s bed, just out of reach. He knows that this is a horrible idea, that he should just leave, but something is spurring him on. That smell is messing with his head, clouding his judgement.

“Is there anything you can do? There’s got to be some sort of medication, or something to make it go away, right?” His words only earn another growl.

“Nothing. There’s only one thing that can make this stop, and it’s not happening.” There’s an unspoken threat behind Shadow’s words, a threat that Sonic chooses to completely ignore. The closer he gets to Shadow, the harder it is for him to think straight. He’s all he can smell now, all he can think about. He wants to make him feel better, wants to relieve him, wants to- 

He gives his head an aggressive shake, trying to clear those crazy thoughts. Shadow is his friend. He doesn’t like him like that, that’s absurd. He just hates to see him suffer, that’s all. He forces himself to take a deep, steadying breath.

“I… am really sorry to hear that. I should go, let you get some rest.”

Sonic forces himself to stand, the motion dizzying. He should never have come over, never bothered Shadow in the first place. What was he thinking? Who cares if Shadow texted him back or not, he doesn’t owe him that. Stupid, stupid…

“Sonic, wait.”

I don't agree with the type of content these tradwife creators make, I think it's damaging to push a conservative agenda with the current world we live in, like throwing gasoline into a wildfire and I will not defend them for contributing to it for their own (huge) monetary gain. And I even disagree because it always ends up damaging the content creator themselves with their mainly male and redpill audience, for example Spanish influencer Roro gets AI porn pictures and videos made out of her by her "fans" and a lot of other shit, and that's because you're still a woman and thus still seen as an object for their consumption and fantasies, they will never respect you because they only like the idea of you, as subservient to your husband, as a devoted mother, as soon as you open up your mouth and say the slightest thing that breaks the fantasy they live in such as saying youre pro abortion, they come at you with pitchforks

I don’t know if the confessions about users that aren’t infoglitch are allowed but I have to vent this one, I promise it’ll be a polite it… I usually disagree with most RWDE confessions on this place, but Krypti makes me want to switch sides.

They say something I agree on but they say it in such a smug, condescending and insulting way it makes me reconsider it and say “maybe RWDE has a point” because if this is the people on my side It makes me think we might be the baddies.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but like, if you never send anything without anon and its always this same old Krypti type of stuff, never talk about things you like or "teehee I like this character!" or "I like these ones holding hands!!" or bounce off from others ideas and add your own, you know it's just...
