what's with the weird glorification of smoking that's come back lately

I've seen so many posts that paint opposing smoking as some impossibly Loser-ish or puritanical stance and I really don't get it

it makes you, your house, and your clothing stink, destroys your teeth, and gives you lung cancer. opposing it is. Correct. obviously addiction is very complicated and quitting can be hard, but just saying "smoking is gross and harmful as a practice (including vaping)" is True and Right actually

some of you have never grown up hearing about how some beloved family member died a slow, agonized, wasting death of smoking-induced cancer, or watching it firsthand for yourself, and it shows

One thing I appreciate about judaism is how it forced me to being more sociable. I am making plans to celebrate my birthday with total strangers because judaism has led me to believe that this world is filled with love and I should share kindness and goodwill with Every Single Person 😭😭🙏

bingyuan are dog/cat coded but as like. the thing you dont normally associate with each animal typically. very smart, aloof or cunning dogs are often described as "catlike"; even though there are arguably more dogs who dont fit this mold than who do, the silly, dopey, happy to see anyone and everyone image is always what is considered THE dog personality.

meanwhile, cats are stereotypically standoffish, picky, and eternally unimpressed; slow to trust and quick to pull out the claws. and again, while obviously there ARE plenty of cats like this (and they are wonderful and just of deserving of love and respect), ive seen so so many silly goofy cats who are immediately trusting of strangers, cats who wont ever use their claws for real, etc, that its always a little confusing to me when i meet people who dont Know cats can BE like that.

(theres probably also something that could be said here about how of the most trusting and well-adjusted cats ive met, all of them were born and raised in secure homes with loving families. something about the differences between shen yuan and shen jiu, their lives and their endings, and about how many people blame nature for things that are in fact the product of nurture)

One I like a lot and very easy to make, but very simple: cauliflower (steamed, or boiled, or in the oven, they all work; if you cut it first it'll cook faster), freshly squeezed lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. For a real recipe: My go-to recipe when I need to cook is böreks (aka bureks, borekas, whatever). Super versatile, can be eaten warm or cold, still very good the day after (easily keeps several days in the fridge), can be eaten with your fingers. Plus this recipe makes a big one to be cut later, so it's much faster than making several small ones. The recipe I was given is (all quantities are super approximative): - filo, aka yufka (often found at hallal butchers) (just use any kind of crust like a savory pie if you can't find filo; won't be the same, but will still taste good) - spinach (800g) (frozen is much faster) (don't use canned it tastes waaay less good) (half spinach half sorrel is very good too, tastes slightly acidic) - feta (200g) (add more if you want it more salty) - dill (frozen is fine too so you don't need to chop it up yourself) (if you don't have dill at hand know that half the time I forget it; it's better with dill but still good without) - eggs (4) - cream (200g)

Preparation: Unfreeze spinach if needed, cut feta in small cubes, chop dill if fresh.

Make the filling: Mix the spinach, the feta, the eggs minus one, the cream, and the dill.

Assemble: Take a sheet pan/baking tray and put filo on it (two sheets of filo side-by-side that go a bit over the side of the pan, then one across, repeat), add the spinach mix (should make a thin layer), add more filo (three sheets are enough for the top), close the sides, scramble the last egg on top

Bake: for 20 to 40 minutes at 180°C.

Then you can cut it in squares to eat.

The nice thing is. This is the original recipe. But you can make a *whole* lot of different variants. Just switch which veggie, herb, and cheese you use: - eggplant, thyme (or mint, or cardamom) and goat cheese - leek and curry or leek and blue cheese - mushrooms and parsley and garlic - artichoke hearts and oregano - green peas and mint (use more cream or it'll feel very heavy) - brocoli and, I dunno, ginger? - cauliflower and nutmeg? - probably could make a potatoes, bacon, and reblochon one for winter - tomato, lemon, honey and basil (no cream or cheese) for summer - browned onions, almonds, and cinnamon (no cream or cheese) for an almost sweet one (can add chicken too) - and with no vegetable, more feta, some kind of yogurt instead of cream, maybe parsley if you feel like it, and sesame seeds on top, you've got cheese börek.

Also it seems (and I'm think that I'm right) that Charles has brought the materials and sewed the hoodie himself, because.. how else to explain the way how bad (sorry) and unprofessionally it looks? I bet he tried to do all by himself while just joining to the gang, to made himself a clothes in which he'll be comfortable to work around the camp, before Javier said him to go ask girls to help him with that, cause it's obvious he doesn't know at least the basics of sewing.

And i hc that he at first hesitated, was unsure if he should ask some help with sewing, thought that they'll decline his request, that he shouldn't bother them and give them even more work than Grimshaw already gave to the girls, but at the end he finally lost it and goes to ask them. But he did just such a bad work, that the cloth already was ruined, and girls barely managed to correct and fix it, for what Charles was sooo grateful and happy (I have a feeling that the one who sewed him the rest of hoodie was either Tilly, because she's a complete sunshine and sweet person, or Mary-Beth, because she's kind and willing to help ppl. Also I think he may bring/do something for them in return to show gratitude).

i get english names are harder to get puns but whats with 'gregory'? if there is a meaning its not one normal people know and the point isnt you have to look up some obscure origin. in japanese it is a bit obvious its 信 (shin) literally 'belief'. but also works cause to die is 死ぬ (shinu) and can conjugate to 死んだ (shinda). if he was introducing himself in a way im pretty sure is possible he could say 御剣信だ (mitsurugi shin da) which sounds like 'mitsurugi died'
