"Good evening this is Washington's Finest, you've reached booking! I'm Paulina how may I assist you?" She speaks, that same sort of uncanniness present in her tone.

"Hi. Yeah, uh I'd like to book- I guess."

"Great! Well then you're in the right place, may I just get a name to make the reservation?"

He hesitates, wondering if he should give his real name. Paulina seems to notice this.

"It doesn't have to be your name, sir. Just any name that we can refer to you by for the booking."

He doesn't say anything. Paulina fills the silence again.

"Rest assured sir, we deal with many high profile customers, our privacy policies are top notch to ensure that your proclivities are kept-"

"Steve." He blurts.

"I'm sorry?"

"Steve. My name is Steve."

"Congressman Barnes," you say, nodding your head slightly to greet him.

"You want something to drink?" He asks, beckoning you to follow him into the kitchen. You do. "Oh, just water is fine, thanks. And ice if you've got."

He nods, filing your preference away then walking over to the fridge to pull out a pitcher, then a cupboard for a glass.

"So," you say, walking around to the opposite side of the kitchen island as him, "what got you calling up Washington's Finest?" He shrugs, sliding a glass full of ice water to you. You mouth a thanks before bringing it to your lips and taking a sip.

"What's anyone looking for when they order a hooker." He says, blunt as ever. You almost choke on the drink, setting it down with a thunk before coughing the water from your windpipe.

“Right,” he says, like he forgot that having a conversation would require actual talking.

“Um. What got you into…” he trails off, looking for the right words, “this line of work.”

You laugh, “oh this is not my dream job, believe me. I’m just doing this to get through law school, only got one year left. I’m getting out of this business the second I pass the Bar.”

Bucky raises his eyebrows, he clearly wasn’t expecting that answer. “Wow, law school. You go to GW?” You shake your head, “Georgetown.”

“Damn. They've got a good program over there.”

“I know,” you nod, “and expensive.”

“Ah,” he mouths, “hence the…” he gestures between the both of you, referring to the situation at hand.

“Exactly.”

“Parents can’t afford to help you out a little?”

Bucky scoffs, taking a few steps around the kitchen island to stand beside you now, you turn to face him, leaning your side against the countertop.

okay let me set the stage

an indeterminable amount of time into the future, season 16 comes out in the fall, somehow finangling itself out of the s15 finale. the main plot point being trying to get cas out of superhell. think good omens season two in that it’s more layed back and focused on character analysis and relationship building. dean is worse than we’ve ever seen him. the first 2 episodes are through the perspective of a kinda messed up but overall healthy if not exceedingly worried sam, and occasionally, a not sober nor lucid dean very near drinking himself to death, not ever leaving the library, surrounded by a very large number of open books; he been trying to get cas back. jack needs to be hands off, no matter what, and the empty is holding him to that, non negotiably, so it’s really up to sam and dean to fight against fate itself.

eventually, we do get cas back, somehow someway. there are the supernatural required multiple episodes of “is he gonna make it or not” wherein cas is whitekuckling life, helped along by a gentle but exceedingly awkward and uncomfortable dean. by the time cas is recovered enough for actual conversation, we the viewers are all on the edge of our seats. when dean finally says the well awaited “cas, we need to talk about what you said back then” line, the viewers are vibrating with impatience, having been egged on by a few episodes of unfortunately timed interruptions keeping dean from actually talking about s15e18. cas steps forward, and the show cuts to whatever sam is dealing with at the time. something entirely unimportant. it’s not mentioned again for the rest of the episode.

everyone freaks, tumblr is breaking with the force of hundreds of posts per second, and a light shines through the chaos. the cw supernatural accounts, announcing in some vague but unmistakable way that the rest of the destiel confirmation has already been recorded, but for dramatic effect, the show will air it on november 5th. a few weeks, and a few episodes, past when the post had initially been made. but in the few filler episodes before the big confession, dean and cas have been subtly acting differently. eyefucking each other somehow more often than usual, and much more obviously, constantly just looking at each other fondly, just more of the same “subtext” we’ve been living on already, only amplified, and with witty and annoyed but fond comments from sam. misha has been busy during these trying times, talking about airtight ndas and just building a lot of anticipation in the form of posts with cleverly placed quotation marks. it finally airs, and the big scene they’d been talking up consisted of dean beginning his “we need to talk” before giving up and having the big kiss in an attempt to convey his emotions. they make out very aggressively against deans door, on his bed, steadily ramping up the excitement and loosing articles of clothing, before a fade to black. there’s a clever shot just before the fade though, which is taken from deans desk, their frenzied kissing blurred in the background, as in the forefront, cas’s trenchcoat is hurriedly thrown over the chair, on top of deans jacket with the bloody handprint on it from cas’s sacrifice scene.

they do eventually have the long awaited talk later in the episode, laying in deans bed with that cw classic “bedsheets as low hung as we could possibly get them” shot. the confession is awkward and broken up by a whole lot of making out, and it’s clear that dean is putting into words what he’s actively figuring out about his feelings. he tells a lot of unfunny jokes, and attempts to leave a few times, but eventually dean gets it all out. it’s in this post-sex confession scene that all the speculation over how no one has really seen deans neck in the past few episodes is proven more than just overthinking. hickies litter his neck, from the juncture connecting his neck to his shoulders, all the way up to behind his ear. but it’s nothing compared to the absolutely horrendous scratches on cas’s back, of which the viewers never see, only alluded to by a horrified sam, making a one off joke about whether or not dean was some kind of clawed creature. everything is good.

the last episode of the season is only a few weeks into the future, a domestic cas and dean are gently bickering in the kitchen, dean prepping food before what is apparently a “big reunion dinner” celebrating cas’s return to earth. sam and eileen are being gross and couple-y, seen dancing together in the library before time skipping to them playing footsie at the map table across from cas and dean, who are doing the same thing. there’s a moment during the first few seconds of the scene where dean accidentally taps his foot against sam’s, leading to the generally awkward and embarrassed vibes that a good supernatural episode just wouldn’t be complete without. there’s table consists of jody and donna and the girls, jack, cas and dean, charlie, basically everyone we know who is still alive. everyone is happy, destiel is officially unruined and completely canon, everyone is alive, and the ending is actually good. the end.

aw thank you! i won't go too much into H's 19th. partly because there are circumstances around it that creep me out and partly because I think @todayisdeadinside working on something about it and so i'll let him tackle that more in depth.

(just a little bit of context, the party in question was technically the second day of celebrations for H's birthday - with the day before H, Grimmy, and Corden having had a late night at Groucho.)

Grimmy was very pleased with himself about putting his birthday together. Niall was there for a bit, but L and Li were across town at a different club (of course, it as 2013. that closet was iron).

one of the first things about this party that bugs me is this: Grimmy hired a female stripper. one, weird for your friend who is a decade older than you to hire a stripper for your birthday REGUARDLESS. two, if Grimmy clearly knew H was closeted - why put him in this postition?

this is how H's face looked. its not the face of someone who is enjoying the entertainment.

That said, whichever vulture honed in first, I don't think they would have followed the scent if they weren't at least somewhat confident there was something to feast on. Then again, I'm not a lawyer, nor am I involved in the complex world of investing and /r/wallstreetbets, but what I can confidently say is... of course Webtoons isn't hitting their projections, this is a company that historically operates at a loss, it says so right in their own IPO documentation. This isn't even some hush hush secret anymore whispered among creators who are privileged to that information or readers who can only take their best guesses, it's now literally official that Webtoons is historically bad at making money. And now in their attempts to save themselves, they've now put themselves in debt not only to Daddy Naver, but to all the eager investors who expected this to be their next big payout. And it's hilarious.

But what isn't hilarious is how this is undoubtedly affecting the creators on the platform, both Originals and greenlit Canvas creators who are currently working their asses off to launch their series. And so I want to make it very clear that as much as I'm currently taunting Webtoons much like the Road Runner taunted Wile E. Coyote's increasingly absurd stunts that always backfired tenfold, I also have the immense privilege of not being in the shoes of those who are witnessing this and fearing they'll be losing their jobs and opportunities.

To the people who are in those positions, I have the utmost respect for what you're currently facing. You're all investors in your own right, looking down the same barrel as the Wall Street betters who are realizing Webtoons' lied to them. You're investing your time, your efforts, your work, your creative rights, your physical bodies and mental health into Webtoons with the expectation that it will payoff. And as we've seen from many creators who have come out on the other side burnt out and often poorer than they were when they went in, that payoff doesn't exist 99% of the time.

So, with the privilege that I have as someone who's not contracted with Webtoons and isn't bound by an NDA and knows fully well how much Webtoons hates their public image being laughed at... my inbox is always open and the anon button is always turned on. I saw your post about that interview with Oliver and Aisha, and I LOVE YOUR TAGS! I was very pissed off at first and absolutely disgusted by the interview, because I tought: what the hell? Are you actually laughing this entire situation away in a "Okay, that's done, LET'S GO NEXT" kind of thing? But your take lightens up so much. You'd say that a man as Tim Minnear is smarter then this, but apparently, he isn't. This cast works 5 to 6 days a week with each other and has become family, that is one of the reasons why this show is so, so good. JEN'S KIDS CALL KENNY UNCLE KENNY FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!! I hope for Tim and the future of Nashville's sake, he fixes this shit, but he probably won't.

I'm glad that my response to that previous ask could help you feel better about the interview. The thing to remember with actors is that they have to be professional. For example, Oliver admitting during season seven that he basically said "let Buck be bi or I'll do it myself without permission" was HUGE. Actors do as they're told. The fact that he got SO blunt about bi!Buck and about previous attempts to make Buck bi and so on during season seven interviews was pretty jaw-dropping.

So if anyone seems lighthearted or overly polite or casual during an interview, it's almost always because they need to keep their jobs and have it hammered into their heads to not ever show anger or frustration. They can't make the show look bad. This is often why it takes a long time for actors to speak seriously about any issues with a show or things they disagreed with at the time, and so relatedly, it takes fans a long time to get vindication, ha ha.

It's not even that anyone signs NDAs all the time, although that can be a thing - it's that badmouthing your job just is a bad look and it can make the people in charge want to fire you, so you could be out of a job. I remember when the Game of Thrones season finale came out and how HARD the cast struggled to hide their disdain and upset in the moment.

Unfortunately, as I detailed in a previous post - I honestly think power has gone to Tim's head. FOX really did not appreciate 911 and made a lot of demands on them - for example, they didn't allow Buddie to go canon or bi!Buck, and they pushed Oliver front and center on interviews while shoving the rest of the cast aside. At the same time, honestly, the reason the show was good was that Tim had good writers around him who could temper or persuade him away from his stupider ideas, or simply take it and spin that shit into gold.

So Tim went to Lone Star, where he had pretty much total creative control. FOX let that show fail, but they also as far as I know did not impose on him the demands they did with OG.

In my opinion, this created an environment where Tim did not realize that he needs strong writers around him - it made him think he was a genius who was set up to fail by the network. So when the jump was made to ABC, Tim stopped listening to anyone. He did whatever the fuck he wanted. Some of this was good, like bi!Buck and a clear set up for Buddie canon. Some of it was not (don't get me started).

So now, we're here. It's unfortunately an old, old story. You let power get to you and you stop seeing the people under your care as people. It's all about what you what. And given how the cast used to talk about Tim that just... honestly breaks my heart. Not for him. Never for him. I'm not interested in the tragedy of a mediocre white man who got too big of a head. But for the cast. And to be professional, they have to be careful in how they speak. It's their job.

I wouldn't be surprised if in five years or so, we get them being a lot more open and harsher in their feelings around it. But right now we must be kind and remember the bad situation they're in. Because no, it's not going to get better.
