SEO: Wikipedia Writing and Publication
SEOs and Digital Marketers know that getting a Wikipedia page and backlink is a very juicy digital achievement. The link juice is the primary aim for it, plus the kind of branding/online presence it establishes as well.
WRITING
It's not so easy to get published on Wikipedia. The approving Wiki editors are very strict. Aside from grammar, the content has to be unbiased. It won't get published if it sounds like PR content. Here's an example between PR sounding and objective/unbiased:
PR - "The BlahBlah Company is the best digital agency founded in 2018 by John BlahBlah, a multi-awarded SEO guru with over 2M followers on social media."
Objective / Unbiased - "The BlahBlah Company is a digital agency founded by John BlahBlah in 2018."
Avoid superlatives and other statements that don't have supporting published written articles/links from credible sites (like famous news sites, organizations, etc) for such claims.
CITATIONS
Now that you know the difference between sentence formulations, next would be backup links/resources to support your statement/s.
Tumblr media
Like I said, every statement to be written must have a supporting backlink. The screenshot below shows that there are "citation links" as to why such statements were written and approved by Wiki editor/s.
Tumblr media
When you go down to the bottom of every Wikipedia article, there's a list of citation links to show proof that the statements in the article are correct/valid.
Tumblr media
PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE / CMS
Formatting the content such as bold, italic, hyperlinking, and so on is different compared to your standard HTML. There would be a bit of a learning curve for this but they have a guide for formatting. You are allowed to preview your work before submitting/publishing it in their CMS.
Tumblr media
THE SANDWICH METHOD
To seem like I was an objective/unbiased contributor in Wiki, I had to mask myself virtually. I didn't sign up using my work email (e.g. [email protected]) and I used my home/mobile hotspot Internet connection (IP address). Then, the content needed to have a bit of dirt on the article's subject to really be unbiased, but tried to make it short and light.
The sandwich method is writing a paragraph that doesn't shade the subject in the intro and latter parts of the whole article and putting the shade in the middle. That is if such dirt content exists. Adding this truly gives you an objective / unbiased rapport as a Wiki contributor.
MY SAMPLE WORK
I used to work for a famous Southeast Asian E-commerce company back in 2013-2015. Back then, the Lazada Wiki article was published but needed to be updated/edited. Since leaving the company, it underwent many changes so the Wiki article has also gone through many changes too. It used to be separated into different countries (Lazada Philippines, Lazada Malaysia, Lazada Indonesia, etc) but the Wiki editors might have decided to consolidate everything into one link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazada
But the localized version still exists which I wrote: https://tl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazada_Philippines
It's the exact content of my English version (but now was changed and merged into the currently existing article version). When you check "View History" of a Wiki article, you get to see when it went a change and who made the change.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you see the very bottom/start of the editing history, that's me with the username "TheSentenceFormulator"
Tumblr media
By now, I've forgotten the login details for it since it was just a secondary task for my SEO duties back then. We were busy with ongoing On-Page optimizations and Off-Page optimizations (a growing e-commerce company meant a growing number of category, product, promo, and sale web pages).
When your boss or client wants a juicy backlink like Wikipedia, share this article to them so they know that they need to start investing in having their company being published/recognized elsewhere first.

Silverborn Release Dates
Australia: August 28th, 2024
US: September 10th, 2024
UK: September 12th, 2024
The specifics could change but these dates have been around since May, so it seems that Silverborn is indeed delayed to 2024. There’s been no announcement from Jess as of yet, but she's also been on a social media hiatus since the delay.

Six common publishing and book marketing hustles of 2024 - and what we can do
It’s really tough for authors to sell their books at the moment. And there are people who are hoping to make money from this. I get approached almost daily by people on Linked In or Facebook who ask to connect with me, then try to sell marketing services of dubious value. Or I get emails of offers that are not what they seem. These aren’t necessarily scams. If I pay up, I’ll probably receive…

I went digging and couldn't turn up anything, substantial or otherwise, about Matt Moylan. I need to know how low to place my expectations for my second favorite mega men, because it sounds like "pretty damn low"
Matt Moylan is the Director of Publishing over at Udon. He's been there for ages. He's also a total reactionary.
To give full context, this is gonna get a little long.
Moylan is perhaps best known for the Transformers fancomic Lil Formers, which was popular in the '00s. This isn't super important here, but allow me to go on a tangent because it's where a lot of people know the guy from, and it's mildly more entertaining than just screencapping his tweets. The comic was basically just an excuse for him to draw a bunch of chibi Transformers that people would then use in forum signatures and whatnot. Sometimes he would attach his cranky old geewunner opinions and complain about art style changes or new female characters in the dialogue, if he wasn't just making a generic joke about Wheelie being annoying or Seaspray having a silly voice or whatever.
Tumblr media
Comedy gold, I know.
Lil Formers was well known within the fandom. Geewunners and kids who didn't know any better and just liked the chibi Transformers (guilty) loved it. Other fans grew more annoyed by Moylan's schtick. As far back as 2009 TFWiki contributor David Willis mocked it in a strip from his own webcomic, Shortpacked:
Tumblr media
His wiki page on TFWiki also recounts a bizarre old bit of fandom drama. Moylan had previously worked for the defunct comic publisher Dreamwave, who published the Transformers comics in the early '00s, and in 2006 he went on popular Transformers forum TFW2005 to make several claims about behind the scenes conflicts and unfulfilled story plans. Most bizarre was a claim that Autobot Sunstreaker was supposed to be gay in the Dreamwave comics, which was written off as a childish attempt to rile up the fandom. His claims were all vehemently disputed by the Dreamwave writers he was shit talking, who would also accuse Moylan of anonymously slandering them and sending them threatening emails. Swell guy!
Anyway, hopefully this isn't surprising to literally anyone who's been on a forum in the last decade, but this nerd who won't shut up about the Good Ol' Days of the '80s is now a reactionary conservative who complains about how they're making everything "woke." And unfortunately he's no longer just some guy drawing dumb little one-panel comics about Transformers, he's now overseeing all of the output at Capcom's go-to comic and art book publisher in North America.
Here's some of his tweets to illustrate what he's like these days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, that's a reply to Mark "Grummz" Kern. He's also chatted up accounts like Libs of Tiktok and Comicsgate ringleader Ethan Van Sciver. Also note the reply in which he tries to tell Greg Weisman himself that Gargoyles had "not an ounce of woke." This guy's brain is fucking cooked.
Here's a take he posted about The Boys, too, just because it's really fucking funny to me:
Tumblr media
After I and several other people posted about his behavior over on Bluesky and expressed disinterest in buying anything from Udon (such as the new Mega Man comics), he deleted his Twitter for like a week. He's since restored it, the tweets in question now long gone. Clearly it wasn't a good look for him to be making statements about his employer's values like this, sometimes in the same breath as announcements about new comics. That being said, he's issued no actual apology for his statements, and Udon hasn't acknowledged it at all. There's no reason to believe he's had a change of heart. They're just gonna pretend he never said any of this. And as of a few days ago, he's been announced as the writer for the one-shot Mega Man ZX comic that Udon is putting out later this year. Yaaaayyyy
I know there are a lot of cool people working on stuff for Udon, but Moylan being in a position of power there means I have zero interest in giving that company money. When your Director of Publishing is over on Twitter trying to court an audience of reactionary nerds and proudly proclaiming that Udon is "anti-woke, anti-DEI," and then you go to their website and the first image you see is this...
Tumblr media
...Look, I love huge boobs as much as the next bisexual furry pervert, but this particular image in conjunction with his tweets paints a pretty clear picture of what sort of values Moylan is pushing at Udon. He wants to cater to nerds who will buy softcore Street Fighter hentai thinking it'll own the libs.
So hey, if he doesn't want my dirty woke money, fine by me. I'm not touching anything Udon publishes as long as Matt Moylan still works there.

Something that I'm very interested about is why and when the S1 archive crew joined the institute in the first place. I was planning for a fanfic and that made me looking through their wiki and reread the transcripts.
Jon and Tim are easy, both had been mentioned in the podcast.
Jon had mentioned being a researcher for 4 years by the time canon happened, which took place in 2015, which means he joined in 2011. As for the reason, well, A Guest for Mr. Spider. I don't think it was ever mentioned specifically but I think it's very clear that he wanted to know more about the Leitners.
Tim took a bit of thinking, in the "when". The incident of his brother took place in August, 2013. We can assume that mean he joined the institute around late 2013, because he left his publishing job to find out what happened to Danny. Which, I'm gonna be honest, surprised me when I first saw it.
Every fanfic I've ever read seems to make Tim already working in the institute when Jon joined, which is not true, Tim joined 2 years after Jon. I do understand the confusion, Tim and Sasha feels much closer to each other than Jon to either of them, so you would think they know each other for way longer than with Jon. I guess there's a possibility that Tim already knew Sasha before the institute and maybe she is the reason he knew it existed in the first place. Either way, it's a gripe for me now if anyone mentioned Tim being in the institute for longer than Jon.
Martin, we know why, he's a drop out that needs a job because of his mom. Elias most definitely knew that he lied on his CV and hired him anyway because no one will miss him and he can use him or something, perhaps even because he thought it would be interesting to put someone with a big secret to work in a place that was made for a god of getting secrets out of people. As for when, however, it was never mentioned. We can make a guess, he was mentioned to have seen a statement giver from 2009, so he's already work for the institute in 2009 at the latest, and judging by him being 29 in 2016, he dropped out in 2004. Meaning by the time he was transferred to the archive, he had worked for appoximately between 6-11 years. Which mean, also, he is potentially the one that worked in the institute the longest.
Now, we get to the one who we know nothing at all, Sasha. The only thing we know is that she at first worked in artefact storage for 3 months before transferring to research. She said she had been in academia for 10 years, but that doesn't necessarily mean she had been working at the institute for that long, because she said "I’ve been in academia" and not "I’ve been working here". Of course, it's up to interpretation. We know she knew Gertrude and had talked to her, but knowing Gertrude, this is probably in 2011, after Emma died. I do believe she most likely had been there for longer than Jon, since that could also made her more qualified for the Head Archivist position (if this is a normal job). My personal belief is she started working there around 2009/2010. For the "why"... Sasha never mentioned ever having an encounter before Michael, so that's probably not it. She most likely joined because it's a research job. She also mentioned she couldn't afford to quit after artefact storage, so she was probably also desperate for a job, just like Martin.
Then again, we all know how fucked the timeline is in TMA (looking at you, Jonny) so maybe the "when" are all completely incorrect, who knows!

i do so desperately want to read properly but like. my skill level has stagnated and i just do not understand what adult fiction is saying. And when i try YA it feels weird seeing middle schoolers learn about the power of friendship or teen romance drama or whatever. how do I get over this roadblock. I feel like the stupid ulysses ogre except im struggling to put together themes in books made for tweens while not even enjoying myself.
I mean I think the most crucial thing here is being nicer to yourself about what you consider to count as reading "properly," and also to recognize that "adult fiction" is not a monolith
like, what adult fiction are you reading? litfic by people with MFAs? graphic novels? charmingly formulaic romances? the scary evil DARK romances that are allegedly ruining the publishing industry? 600 page fantasy doorstoppers loaded with politics and made up names? charmingly formulaic mysteries? fast-paced thrillers? self-published furry erotica with plot? cozy science fiction? all of that can fall under the heading of adult fiction, and it's barely scratching the surface!
the world is your oyster, so find the stuff that clicks with you and pursue that; it will feel more worth it if you're actually enjoying yourself. there's absolutely zero reason to put yourself through the strain of reading something "smart" if you aren't enjoying it, and anyone who has something snooty to say about somebody reading for fun is, to put it lightly, an asshole.
it may also help to focus on fiction that's really short or really unsubtle, or both. again, contemporary romance novels are seldom shy about telling you up front what the themes are, and that's not a dig—I love romance novels! and shorter reads, like novellas or short stories, may also be interesting, since they generally need to be a bit more compact in getting the idea across.
have you heard of the Murderbot Diaries? I haven't read them but man, people love those. some other books that spring to mind when it comes to keeping it simple: Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li, A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers, Kaikeyi by Vishnavi Patel, and virtually anything by Silvia Moreno Garcia, who writes across a wide variety of genres.
I'd also like to offer the radical suggestion that you don't need to 100% totally understand everything that happens in a book to enjoy it. like, yes, it's nice to understand what's going on, but it's totally chill if you spend some of it just floating along enjoying the story and waiting to see what will happen next. I'm currently reading Toni Morrison's Beloved, and while the prose is brilliant, I'm also struggling to keep track of everything going on! I'm doing a lot of doubling back and rereading to make sure I'm keeping up with events, and even then I'll still miss things and be uncertain of my understanding until something later in the book can offer confirmation. and that's fine! there are tons of books I've loved to pieces while also struggling to understand everything being shown to me: NK Jemisin's Broke Earth series, Stephen Graham Jones' My Heart is a Chainsaw, Alison Rumfitt's Tell Me I'm Worthless, Tamsyn Muir's Harrow the Ninth and Gideon the Ninth. in many cases, rereads are helpful here! and also awesome!
also, hey, if you're struggling to make sense of something, great news: other people also read those books! options will vary depending on how well-known the book is, but generally someone else will have taken a crack at explaining it. google "[book name] synopsis" or "[book name] review" and you could get anything from a sparknotes to a wiki synopsis to a professional book review to an amateur book review to a youtube channel breaking it down in excruciating detail. and you don't have to take their analyses at face value, either—you're ALSO practicing media literary when you ask yourself "do I agree with this review? why or why not? why might this reviewer have arrived at such a different conclusion than me? what could have influenced their opinion? how does this fit, or not fit, with my understanding of this book?"
just have fun and be yourself dude you'll be fine out there xoxo

Why Franklin and Maryann Portman are the Worst™ (Part 1)!;
Tumblr media
I want to preface this by saying that I know that by no means Franklin and Maryann Portman are the actual worst parents in fiction or in this series even.
Of course they aren't.
But that doesn't mean that I can't still refer to them as the worst™ for them being shitty. Even if I do believe that on some leave that they do care about/love their son.
I also wanna point out that it's been awhile since I read the books so I'm going off my memory and the wiki for this. So I may forget some context of why this or that happens, and if I do that, feel free to comment it down below respectfully. And if I forget something that you find shitty that they did, also feel free to reblog or comment it down below because I would love to talk about these characters and fandom more.
Am I saying that Abe Portman is 100% perfect and did nothing wrong whatsoever? No, that would go against how his character is betrayed in the books—as a flawed traumatized man who did his best to be there for his family and keep them and himself (as well as others) safe and went about some things the wrong way.
Now that that's out of the way…
According to the wiki:
“Jacob was born on Halloween, and up until he was eight years old was convinced by his parents that trick-or-treating candy was birthday presents (something apparently revealed in Hollow City).”
These people are rich.
R-I-C-H.
Rich enough that Jacob’s dad can study birds and volunteer and write mine books that he never publishes without the worry of them not having anything to eat.
R-I-C-H enough that Jacob comments that “I did love her, of course, but mostly because loving your mom is mandatory, not because she was someone I think I'd like very much if I met her walking down the street. Which she wouldn't be, anyway; walking is for poor people.” And rich enough that they gave their kid their four year old sundan so that they could get a brand new car.
And for eight years, they had their son believing that candy was a birthday present.
1. Now, look. I get it. Birthday shopping is hard, especially for a little itty bitty kid but not actually having the money to buy your only kid gifts and choosing not to because people are handing out candy on that day anyway? That's not a very nice thing to do for that long.
They let him go through three years of school thinking that and we never learned how he found out that was a lie. That's not even including the fact that the rest of their extended family let this lie continue (assuming they knew).
Can you imagine if Jacob found out because he mentioned this to his classmates or a teacher? Maybe a teacher or family member could salvage the situation but little kids can be brutal, especially towards other little kids who they think are wrong and considering we know that in that same year, Jacob was pants-ed causing him to stop believing anything Abe said…. It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility tl believe that one of Jacob's classmates got in a fight with him over it and caused some kind of embarrassing, painful memory.
Though I guess it's a good thing they didn't get Jacob birthday presents that early on considering my second point.
2. The birthday scene.
Look at his birthday scene.
This scene? Shouldn't really exist.
Not because I hate birthday scenes but because Jacob literally told his parents he didn't want a party which under normal circumstances is a reasonable ask within itself. But these? These aren't even normal circumstances.
Jacob doesn't want a party because the one person he'd actually want there, in his own words, is his grandpa. His grandpa who died in his arms nine months before and who Jacob has been viciously mourning for said nine months. His grandpa whose death caused Jacob's ‘mental breakdown’.
Whose house they had also cleaned out recently, doing shit all for the now sixteen year old’s mental health and grief.
But what do his parents do?
Throw him a surprise party.
A surprise party.
For their jumpy traumatized son who found his grandpa bleeding out in the dark after getting attacked by a monster (or ‘rabid dogs’) and who has been sleeping in the fucking laundry room.
Why on earth would going against his wishes be good for him? He said he didn't want a party and under these circumstances, it's even more understandable. If you really want your son to socialize or to celebrate, then get him a cake or some food he likes and invite his friend over. Talk to him.
Don't throw him a party he doesn't want and don't throw the kid who's been having non-stop nightmares about the monsters who killed his grandfather a fucking surprise party.
To make matters, in this party:
One of his uncles he’s not close to tries to spring a summer trip to his house on him, listing shit that he likely knows Jacob doesn't like with no previous warning to the kid himself (his parents were just planning to ship him off, whether he wanted it or not).
They're calling Jacob's apparent disorder ‘his thing’.
And nobody is actually getting him anything he wants. Just shit they've been gifted and are trying to get rid of.
Gifts like CD's of country Christmas music or subscriptions to Field and Stream (because his Uncle Les thinks he's outdoorsy, this one I can understand slightly since Jacob did want to be an adventurer but still).
The only exceptions being:
 1. The key to the family four-year-old sedan, which Jacob is embarrassed to be receiving in front of Ricky (who Jacob hasn't talked to in a long while after a fight they had).
And
2. A camera Jacob had been wanting for ages (since last summer) from his parents….who likely only gifted it to him because of his dad's new book.
Which leads to his mom drunkeningly making front of her husband at her sixteen year old’s birthday party…. Real classy.
Oh and 3. A book that belonged to Abe that Jacob's parental Aunt Susie snagged trom the house when they were cleaning it out. A book titled “The Selected Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson”.
She gave this to him, saying it was from Abe because he'd written Jacob's name in it.
Thoughtful right?
Well everyone else doesn't think so because they go quiet. Jacob's mom, Maryann even while drunk, tries to say it was thoughtful and that she didn't know Abe was a reader.
Meanwhile Jacob's dad, Franklin, is barely hiding how pissed he is.
Like dude.
Dude.
Do you really hate your own dad so much that you don't want your grieving son to have even just a book of poems that the only member of the family who he was close to left for him? Are you still, even after that disastrous day where you cleaned out the fucking house with him there and fought with him, refusing to let him have any ties left?
To be fair, you can say that this is because of his own history with Abe and that it's because Jacob is in a worrying state. But that doesn't really hold up considering that they let Abe babysit Jacob often and fill his head up with stories they thought he embellished  due to his own trauma and because they thought that Jacob was well enough to handle trashing and donating all of his dead grandpa’s stuff.
Sure, they don't take the book from him but the fact Franklin can't even hide how pissed he is is shitty.
That's not even considering this little tidbit here:
“My mother leaned toward me and in a tense whisper asked if I needed a drink of water, which was mom-speak for keep it together, people are staring.”
….
Do I even need to say anything?
The fact that Jacob thinks this probably means that his parents—or even just Maryann—have said this to him before. Frequently so, even. To the point where he's trying to escape the room, feeling like he might cry, and instead of thinking that his parents (or anyone in this family) might be able to potentially comfort him in this hard moment, this is what he's thinking.
It's infuriating.
But not as infuriating as my last point for now!
3. Franklin sent his then fifteen year old son to deal with what he thought was his dementia ridden, war world 2 veteran father having a PTSD attack/episode.
Franklin gets called when he's volunteering at a bird rescue in what is either early afternoon or night by his worried fifteen year old said who tells him that Abe called him ‘flipping out’.
He asks if he's taken his pills today and Jacob tells him Abe wouldn't tell him.
At this point, any reasonable adult would go and help their poor ailing father who may be having an episode or PTSD attack about the war, what happened to his family. The monsters.
At this point, any reasonable adult would send their son home out of danger and call up a friend or sibling or in-law to go deal with the situation.
What does Franklin do?
He sends his fifteen year old, who is at his job, to go check on Abe. Who again, Franklin thinks is having an episode.
Now, even if there was a chance that Abe would still recognize Jacob and wouldn't be a danger to him, who would risk sending their son to check on an ailing relative by himself when there's every chance that when Jacob gets there he'll be having flashbacks to the horrors he witnessed. I mean, it's understandable if you or another adult is there and need help calming the man for you to maybe have your teenage son there. Especially if he may be caring for him one day out of choice.
But sending your fifteen year old there by himself to handle the situation when he probably won't know what to do and when he probably hasn't seen one before?
And doing that when you know that your dad was in a war and still has a sea of weapons hidden away behind lock and key (a key which you have) because you can't be half assed to tell the shelter your volunteering at that there's a family emergency?
Franklin literally sent Jacob into a traumatizing situation that could turn dangerous (for Abe or Jacob, if Abe didn't recognize his grandson) under the assumption that all of his paranoid dad's weapons are stored away.
And what did Abe die with in his hand?
A box cutter.
Which just proves that Abe had things lying around that he could use as a weapon if needed. Things he could improvise with.
Just think for a moment about what could have wrong if Abe wasn't actually in danger from a wight but something he was actually imagining—a memory from his past. Imagine what could have happened to Jacob if Abe had mistaken him for a burglar or a wight or what Franklin thought he was imagining.
Jacob can't fight.
It's dark.
Things could easily go wrong.
And what would happen if they did?
Jacob would be hurt and traumatized or dead and Abe would likely be in a horrible place if he wasn't, all because Franklin didn't care enough about his dad to go check on him himself. Hell you can he didn't even care about Jacob enough here, because he didn't care about what Jacob could possibly see if he sent him to deal with his grandfather.
Like, not only is he being incredibly shitty to his son but to his own ailing father who was at the very least convinced he was in danger and who was actually in danger (for all Franklin knew his dad could have actually heard someone breaking in but he didn't even take the time to think about it).
That's all I have time to write for today but there's several other things that they do that are pretty crappy where their son is involved that I will happily discuss.
Hope this doesn't disappoint, @kallmeweirdhprroe .

Eileen Prince
I'm relentlessly curious about how a witch from Slytherin, a house that values cunning and ambition on paper, and bloodlines/nobility in its culture, ended up living in a muggle slum.
Unfortunately for me, she's a barely mentioned character written by an author who consistently fails to portray female characters with depth or dimension. The women in Harry Potter are portrayed as either maternal or villains, or, in Ginny Weasley's case, as redeemed by their masculine traits (because Rowling's Thatcher era feminism dictates that equality for women = emulating patriarchal ideas of manhood). About as much as you can expect from an author who's as unable to acknowledge the personhood of trans women as she is to write women as actual people. This leaves a lot of room for interpreting or delving into what Eileen Prince's life may have looked like, and how that would have affected her son's development.
There are three direct mentions of Eileen in the text :
“The picture showed a skinny girl of around fifteen. She was not pretty; she looked simultaneously cross and sullen, with heavy brows and a long, pallid face. Underneath the photograph was the caption: Eileen Prince, Captain of the Hogwarts Gobstones Team.”
HBP Ch. 25
“I was going through the rest of the old Prophets and there was a tiny announcement about Eileen Prince marrying a man called Tobias Snape, and then later an announcement saying that she’d given birth to a" “ — murderer,” spat Harry.
HBP ch. 30
“Harry looked around: he was on platform nine and three-quarters, and Snape stood beside him, slightly hunched, next to a thin, sallow-faced, sour-looking woman who greatly resembled him.”
DH Ch. 33
(Shoutout to Harry James Potter, who didn't recognize Eileen's fifth year photo despite her resemblance to Snape, the teacher whose classroom he got his used Potions book from. Shoutout also to Harry James Potter who didn't connect the dots between the Prince's handwriting and Snape's, a teacher who regularly wrote instructions on the board. "I needed to make the plot work, ok?" - JK Rowling, probably.)
Other relevant excerpts:
“Snape staggered - his wand flew upwards, away from Harry - and suddenly Harry’s mind was teeming with memories that were not his: a hook-nosed man was shouting at a cowering woman, while a small dark-haired boy cried in a corner ”
OoTP Ch. 26
“Harry delved into his trunk and pulled out his copy of Advanced Potion-Making before getting into bed. There he turned its pages, searching, until he finally found, at the front of the book, the date that it had been published. It was nearly fifty years old.”
HBP Ch. 16
Supplemental material re: Gobstones from JK Rowling:
"...it remains a minority sport within the wizarding world, and does not enjoy a very ‘cool’ reputation, something its devotees tend to resent. Gobstones is most popular among very young wizards and witches, but they generally ‘grow out’ of the game, becoming more interested in Quidditch as they grow older.  ... Gobstones enjoys limited popularity at Hogwarts, ranking low among recreational activities, way behind Quidditch and even Wizarding Chess." [There's an additional sentence on the Harry Potter wiki's Gobstones page: "...it is also known as 'the thinking wizard's Quidditch.'"]
A few conclusions can be drawn from what little information we're given about Eileen:
She's described as "cross and sullen" around the age of 15, and as "sallow-faced, sour-looking" when she's older.
She's captain of the Gobstones club around her fifth year, so she likely marched to the beat of her own drum - given that Gobstones isn't particularly popular - and owns it proudly enough to take, or even seek out, a leadership role.
The sport is described as "the thinking wizard's Quidditch" which would imply Eileen was more interested in intellectual challenges and was clever (and can be paralleled with a young Severus' comment about "if you'd rather be brawny than brainy" to James Potter when they first meet on the Hogwarts Express).
Her marriage and the birth of her son are both announced in the paper, which might mean the family she came from was of some importance or note, or perhaps something else... but we'll get to that.
If we assume that Severus' secondhand copy of Advanced Potion Making was originally Eileen's (reasonable, though there is no textual evidence) then its publication date is likely around the time she was a sixth year, given that this particular text was specific to students beginning to prep for N.E.W.T. exams. Harry begins his sixth year in 1996 when the book is "nearly fifty years old," so we can assume Eileen was 16 years old sometime not long after 1946. Severus was born in 1960, which would mean Eileen was in her mid-late 20s at the time.
Her marriage was dysfunctional at best, abusive at worst. As per a Pottermore post that is still up on WizardingWorld.com: "...the desperately lonely and unhappy childhood [Severus] had with a harsh father who didn’t hold back when it came to the whip." Based on this, we can assume Tobias was abusive, and given Eileen's cowering as he shouted at her, she presumably feared him.
From these bits of information emerges the image of a woman who either had a surly personality, or at the very least was guarded, though perhaps just formal. There isn't really any difference in how her face is set when she's in an everyday setting like King's Cross, or when she's having her picture taken for the Gobstones Club. It's possible she was a stern, unsmiling person, but it's also possible - given that her wedding and child were announced in the paper - that she came from a family of some standing and was raised to conduct herself with hallmarks of British class, such as dignity and unaffectedness. After all, there are several wizarding families - such as the Potters - who are wealthy purebloods with social standing but are not part of the Sacred 28. Additionally, the Gobstones Club portrait would have been taken around the mid-1940s, when portraits were formal and their subjects did not often smile, and given that we see only a snippet of Eileen, we don't have enough information that she was unhappy or sour. It's also important to remember that we see her portrait and Snape's memory of her through Harry's perspective and, like his perception of Snape himself, this may convey Harry's biases.
We also know from the text that Snape had a house in a deserted part of Cokeworth, a fictional Midlands town that presumably had a collapsed milling industry, at the end of a street called Spinner's End. There's a great thread that goes into details about the kind of 2 up 2 down house it would have been, and we can assume that this is Snape's family home given that we know he and Lily grew up in Cokeworth. For all intents and purposes, the conclusion we can draw from this being the Snape family's home in the 60s is that they were working class and cripplingly poor. Most estates like this had been cleared by the 60s, and no longer exist today.
This begs the question: how did a witch from a possibly well-off family end up in an abusive marriage in an irrelevant slum?
Buckle up kids, we're leaving the world of textual references and veering into deep meta territory now. I won't label any of this as head canon because I'm not set on these interpretations, and am just drawing conclusions from the text, but some of it may be a bit loose even for meta.
If Eileen was 16 years old not long after 1946, then she would have finished school in the late 40s, possibly even 1950. While some people (including past me) posit the theory that Tobias may have been injured in WWII and his injuries debilitated him, forcing him to go on the dole and affecting his mental health, I'm increasingly skeptical of this theory. It would make more sense if Eileen had known him before he was drafted/enlisted and had committed to a relationship with him, which would then have changed when he came back from the war and was altered. If we assume Eileen's age based on the idea that it was her own copy of Advanced Potion Making Severus used, then she would still have been at school during WWII (which makes an interesting parallel with Severus' own experience of spending the bulk of the first wizarding war against Voldemort as a student at school).
I do think, however, that there's merit in the theory that Tobias suffered some kind of altering injury and that he wasn't necessarily abusive before Eileen committed herself to him. It makes little sense for a Slytherin graduate who was confident and self-posessed enough to be the face of an unpopular club to be drawn to a partner so abusive his shouts caused her to cower and who whipped his child freely. If, however, he was a charming, happy man when they met who suffered a life-altering injury, the trauma of which left him a shell of his former self, then someone like Eileen might stick around for the sake of the parts of his old self she can still see in him.
It's interesting that she didn't seem to use her magic to protect herself or her son, or even to dress her son in clothing that fit, but we know from the text that depression can cause a wizard's powers to wane:
“...it is also possible that her unrequited love and the attendant despair sapped her of her powers; that can happen”
HBP Ch. 13 (Dumbledore talking about Merope Gaunt)
The fact that the Snapes retained the house in Spinner's End seems to indicate that they continued to live there even when the local industry dried up and the slum was cleared as workers were moved to other parts of the country where they were needed (presumably what happened given *gestures at British history*). The most likely explanation for this would be that Tobias wasn't able to work, and perhaps did suffer an injury, only it was at work, and not during the war. This would mean the family lived on the dole (ie. welfare) and also that he would have spent a lot more time at home. It would also explain his anger and frustration that led to abusive behavior (which isn't to say that disabled people are abusive by any means, but it would have been emasculating for a man who considered himself the breadwinner in the 60s, and chronic pain coupled with limited abilities would give anyone a short fuse).
Moreover, this living situation seems to indicate that there is no additional support coming from anywhere. Where is Eileen's family? Why were they not helping? There's no indication in the text that there is any connection with them at all. We can infer from Snape's memories that, as a child, he learned what he knew about the magical world from his mother. This implies that she talked to him about it a fair amount, and his conviction that he and Lily were going to Hogwarts well before they got their letters also implies that Eileen expected him to go there and was set on her son having a magical education, despite how little she seemed to use her own powers.
Severus knows a lot about the wizarding world as a child, including that prisoners are sent to Azkaban and that it's guarded by Dementors, Hogwarts' house structure and what to expect when he and Lily get there, and about the Statute of Secrecy and the laws around it. When Lily asks him if it makes a difference being Muggleborn, Severus hesitates before replying no, presumably because he's aware of pureblood bias being a part of wizarding culture.
Perhaps that's the reason Eileen's family doesn't seem to be in the picture. My own theory is that Eileen hadn't planned to commit herself to Tobias long-term, and Severus was an accidental outcome of an innocent tryst in which a young Eileen, an educated witch from a well to do pureblood family, was having fun slumming it with a working class muggle and ended up pregnant. While we don't know the wizarding world's attitude around pregnancy and abortion, we do know it's a conservative and classist society that parallels muggle British culture fairly closely, and that the late 50s/early 60s were a time when an out of wedlock baby would have been considered a disgrace.
Add to that the anti-muggle bias of a pureblood family and it sounds like Eileen was disowned her for her mistake (and don't @ me, but even though I know that not all Slytherins are purebloods, it does seem to be a persistent cultural value of the house reaching back to Salazar Slytherin himself, so Eileen's being sorted into it can reasonably be taken as an indication of her blood status). Perhaps the marriage and birth announcements in the Daily Prophet were put in by Eileen herself, if she was a woman from a family where this was customary. It may have been her way of letting her family know of the events, or even of asserting herself and even deliberately defying them, announcing to the whole wizarding world that a Prince married and had a child with a muggle. It makes sense that the girl who wasn't just in the Gobstones club, but became captain, would also say to herself, why shouldn't I have my marriage announced in the paper like everyone else in the family?
It's worth noting that mid-late 20s is pretty young to have a baby in the wizarding world, where the life expectancy and child bearing years are much longer than they are for a muggle. According to the Harry Potter wiki:
"Wizard life expectancy in Britain reached an average 137¾ years in the mid-1990s, according to the Ministry of Divine Health ... Wizards in general have a much longer life expectancy than Muggles, usually living two or three times as long as their non magical counterparts, some living even longer than that depending on circumstances. In addition, seeing as James Potter's parents had him "late in life,” witches likely have significantly longer childbearing years than Muggle women."
Although we see several characters in Severus' generation getting married and having kids not long after leaving school, there's a mention in the text that a lot of people were doing this during Voldemort's reign, as the fear he inspired made people more eager to get a move on with life since they thought they might die any day (I think Mrs. Weasley says this but I can't find the quote, @ me if you do). It's clear this wasn't the norm in the wizarding world. Eileen was a Slytherin, a house that values cunning, ambition, and strong wizarding heritage. Something must have gone very wrong in Eileen's life for her to end up having a child so young and living in a muggle slum.
And so it's possible Eileen Prince found herself pregnant and alone, having been disowned by her family to save face in light of her disgrace, and dependent on the only person she was still close to, the father of her child. It's the kind of storyline that Rowling would write, and it would parallel fairly closely the story of Voldemort's mother, thus adding another to the long list of similarities between Voldemort and Snape.
Lorrie Kim makes an interesting point when she talks about how Snape has a strong reaction to other people having a love life or romantic experiences (the context being Rowling's intention of his love for Lily being romantic and unrequited), but doesn't react particularly strongly to mothers sacrificing themselves for their children, whereas Voldemort does. Her insight, and I think it's a reasonable one, is that Severus accepts the idea of mothers making sacrifices for their children, whether it's Lily giving her life for Harry or Narcissa risking all she did to ask for his help in protecting Draco, because his own mother protected him from his father as much as she could.
There's a lot of room for interpretation on what Eileen's relationship with her son looked like, and what it says about her own state. She may have prioritized not angering Tobias to protect Severus, who as a child might have perceived her actions as a form of rejection. At the same time, she seems to have prepared him thoroughly for life in the magical world, perhaps in the hope that he would find his place in it and escape home. Perhaps she missed it and told him so much about it so she could live through her own memories.
The only time we see her argue with Tobias, in Severus' memory, she's cowering as he shouts. We know from JK Rowling that Tobias used corporal punishment liberally, which implies Eileen didn't stop him despite her magical abilities. We also see in the text, however, that while at school Severus stood up for himself against bullies and fought back, and that he was an exceptionally clever and powerful wizard. As an adult he was brave enough to face Dumbledore when he betrayed Voldemort, and later fought against Voldemort right under his nose (or lack thereof). So it stands to reason that at some point Severus began to stand up against Tobias too.
How much of that was Eileen's influence, or the result of Severus seeing her acceptance of her fate and rejecting it for himself, is hard to say. As for what happened to Tobias and Eileen that their house was Severus' by the mid-90s and they were nowhere in sight, I don't think there's enough information in the text to infer.

The Many Mysteries of Kim Soleum
(Well actually I'm only writing down the three main ones that stick out to me the most but shh)
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTERS 192+
1. His family
Let's take a moment to put ourselves in Soleum's shoes: imagine being transported to a world where eldritch, ungodly horrors are real, where everyone dies faster than your phone battery does when you actually need it, where contact of your friends somehow still remain, but your family, who - according to the fact that you mentioned somewhere in the novel that they've warned you against entering finance - you should still have contact with in your world, is apparently wiped out, wouldn't you at least take a moment to find out what's happened to them? Or at least mention that fact beyond a single, quickly brushed-off sentence in the beginning, even if you're (maybe) trying not to think about it?
There's no way a guy like Soleum wouldn't pay attention to these things just because this isn't the 'real' world and they're not his 'real' parents. He still tries to save everyone he can even though they're just 'characters' after all. Nor would he be the type to disregard them even if they have a bad relationship with him (see: all the times he's (sometimes however unwillingly) saved Baek Saheon).
Yet, for some reason, he does. He has no reaction to their disappearance at all. He was more concerned about not having a house - and this is the guy who's sentimental as hell.
2. His strength
Bro, you are not telling me that some random office worker, who probably hasn't lifted anything but the weight of his own body to get up for another miserable day at work, can lift a grown ass man like Baek Saheon, push away a manhole cover, and subdue an incredibly trained close combat agent with the agent unable to overpower him through physical force.
Even if Soleum worked out Choi should be able to beat him easily. But it's not just that. He never, ever mentions any form of physical activity to be a hobby of his. Nor does he does he mention doing anything to maintain his physique. Sure, you could argue that running around in ghost stories is a form of exercise in and of itself (Soleum would very much agree) but then that brings us back to point one: where would a supposedly normal guy get this kind of strength?
3. His status in the Dark Exploration Records wiki and his ghost story
Here's what we know so far:
• Based on how kse's contributed to the technical school's exploration record and how he casually mentions wanting to add the way he solved the Red Dress at Exit 4 disaster to the wiki but deciding otherwise because it didn't really fit his style (ch.168), aside from lurking and reading, it seems to imply that he's a frequent contributor to the wiki.
• He also mentions having made a ghost story, but never elaborates on what story it is.
• It seems like the way you submit or edit a darkness operates in nearly the same vein as submitting an SCP in the SCP wiki does, so he'd have to be greenlit by two experienced authors before he could've gotten his ghost story published.
From this, I think it's safe to infer that Soleum might be a known, if not prominent figure as a wiki user.
What's the ghost story that he wrote, exactly? Like his parents, it's something he quickly brushes off and never really mentions, if I remember correctly, beyond chapter 1. This one can be easily answered though: maybe kse's trying not to think about it because this ghost story he made is suddenly very much real and he now has blood on his hands because of it. But, as with everything in this novel, there's that itching feeling that there must be a special reason why.

Note
I want to ask the same question to you as well inherent in why the Wenclair ship has become so famous.
How did it get so much popularity?
I ask this apolitically so don't worry ahahah
Hey hello!
Don't worry!
I'll be happy to answer you and I also want to take this opportunity to deny a couple of things.
Let's start with your question.
One of the most obvious indicators of Wenclair's popularity is the number of dedicated fan fiction on platforms like AO3.
Let's remember that even before the series premiered on Netflix, on November 23, 2022, there were already 250 stories with the Wenclair tag, signaling early interest from fans.
As of 2023, the Wenclair ship has become the most written about ship for both the Wednesday and Enid characters, with over 5,800 works published on AO3.
This exponential growth has shown how much the couple has created enthusiasm and creative investment from the fandom community.
But there is also another factor that should not be forgotten.
The production of fanart is another key indicator of the popularity of a ship.
The massive presence of these fanarts on platforms such as Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram testifies to the artistic interest of fans.
The aesthetic combination of the two characters, with their contrasting personalities and styles, offers fertile ground for creativity, making the couple particularly attractive to artists.
Tumblr media
Just look at the fanarts that come out every week on X, Tumblr, Instagram etc.
Unfortunately some Wenclair artists have either retired or stopped temporarily but this has not stopped the wave and even today the largest number of fanarts related to the Netflix series are Wenclair-themed.
Wenclair’s popularity is also reflected in social media trends.
On Tumblr, the ship has achieved notable positions in the weekly charts, ranking #2 on January 9, 2023, #3 on January 16 and February 13, and maintaining a steady presence in the following weeks.
Finally, let's not forget that, after a long sleep lasting a year, the fandom woke up thanks to the Novelisation of the first season which, for better or for worse, offered a lot of material for us fans of the couple.
But now that we have the data, we still ask ourselves, why was it so successful?
• First and foremost, the "Opposites Attract" Trope
The dynamic between Wednesday and Enid embodies the opposites attract trope, with Wednesday's dark and introverted nature contrasting with Enid's vivacious and extroverted nature.
This contrast has historically fascinated audiences, making their interaction intriguing and worthy of narrative exploration.
It is extremely inspiring to draw this pairing even on an artistic level, with plenty of fan art depicting a bright and cheerful Enid alongside a darker and stoic Wednesday (the most obvious example being the black cat energy x golden retriever energy dynamic).

• Then there is of course the LGBTQ representation.
I have already touched on why Wenclair makes sense and I refer you to that post.
But without going into too much detail, the lack of explicit queer representation in the series has led fans to seek out and create narratives that reflect their experiences and desires, finding in Wenclair a possibility for meaningful representation.
But above all, another factor was fundamental, which was the failure of the Wednesday love triangle that was in the middle between Tyler and Xavier.
Many of us found this subplot so atrocious that we came to the final thought that, if Wednesday were ever going to have a romantic partner, it would absolutely be Enid.
Above all, let's not forget how very queer core the two girls are.
(Enid in particular and the subplot with her mother is a clear example of this)
Where on one hand we had a Tyler who, through deception and gaslighting, tried to get closer to the protagonist, then there was Xavier who was really a guy who perhaps tried to seem like a good guy but was just a pretty slimy guy (the phone scene is really senseless).
{not only for this but also for what I will write later, if you are a fan of Weyler or Wavier, this is nothing personal, peace and love, I'm just looking at the data and the reasons why Wenclair has grown}
Then there are the promotional events, such as the "WednesGAY" organized by Netflix, and statements by the actors have fueled speculation and enthusiasm around the ship, contributing to its spread.
Let's say that this is more of a sore point for some because there has actually been some queerbaiting by Netflix.
But anyway, even through interviews of the actors and actresses who worked on the series, the Wenclair ship has managed to become more and more popular even if some of those statements were even joking ("They were roomates". by Emma Myers).
Tumblr media
• Finally their relationship in concrete in the series.
Let's be clear, the best scenes of the series have the 2 of them as protagonists (at least for me).
They argue, they compare, they help each other and when Wednesday makes a mistake, Enid feels betrayed and Wednesday feels bad for it.
Tumblr media
Let's remember that Enid first went to ""die"" for Wednesday in the final episode.
For Sinclair there were no plans other than finding Wednesday, there was no possibility of transforming in her head.
Every time an exchange of dialogue occurs between the 2 of them there is always a significant stimulus.
But most of all, Enid is one of the reasons why Wednesday is growing both emotionally and mentally.
Wednesday has learned so much thanks in large part to her roomate.
It is no coincidence that, recently that pic of Wednesday and Enid shown on a card was also released, or simply that many fan art on Wednesday also feature Enid.
Tumblr media
Emma Myers and Jenna Ortega were so close on that set that you could feel how committed they were to their roles and how they interacted.
Before concluding, I would like to be able to add further information, denying a very specific piece of information.
"Wenclair are not so numerous, but they are justw noisy".
Here, let's debunk this falsehood once and for all.
It's true that we are noisy, but we are ALSO NUMEROUS.
The popularity of the Wenclair ship is not the result of simple redundancy across multiple platforms, but is supported by real numbers that demonstrate a higher level of engagement and diffusion than other ships in the series.
• AO3 (Archive of our own)
In the most famous fanfiction site we have the first proof that we are not "just noisy".
In fact, at least until today, the number of fanfictions is equal to about 7605.
Tumblr media
On the contrary, the Weyler ones are just under 1200, even worse that Wavier is under 1000 (811 to be exact).
• Wattpad
Here it is extremely more difficult to understand, but it is noteworthy how Wenclair fanfiction have extremely gigantic numbers.
With truly enormous views, even more than you might think.
• Reddit
The subreddits dedicated to the Wednesday series are 2, r/Wednesday (with about 790 thousand members) & r/WednesdayTVseries (with about 40 thousand members).
Now that we know the number of fans of the series, we must think that we are a minority (?)
Well, almost.
The subreddit dedicated to the Wenclair ship has reached a significant number of members, that is, just over 10 thousand members (I read 12 thousand but I don't trust it because sometimes it changes very little).
Tumblr media
And there are many intentions in there.
AT LEAST 4/5 posts per day, with additional comments.
With positive votes that reach at least 30/50 up to 800 even (but also 1000) in the space of a few days or weeks.
On the contrary, the Weyler one, with just over 1000 members, you can see the most voted posts that tend to get around 50 or a little less (maybe this is where we can talk about noisy fans at the expense of the low number?).
The Wavier one lmao let's not even talk about it, it's a dead horse.
In the r/wholesomeyuri subreddit, I'm not the only one who posted Wenclair stuff and the results have proven to be extremely positive with posts that had between 109 up to 2 thousand positive votes.
16 hours ago I reached about 950 positive votes, so here too the feeds are not few.
X, Instagram and Tumblr
Well, here we have perhaps the biggest evidence to deny the accusation.
The hashtags related to the Wenclair ship (or Wednesday X Enid) are huge.
Let's start with Tumblr, here the number is around 68,962 with a much more active fan presence than you might think.
Wednesday X Enid has 4743, while the #Wenclair fanart (remembering that it is very often linked to that #Wenclair) has 1293.
The Tumblr community has 578 members (and it's a lot considering that Tumblr communities are a bit of a niche), with at least 2 posts per day.
While some posts?
Wenclair themed posts (mostly fanart) reach a number that reaches from 20 notes up to 3/4 thousand).
A recent one, that of Leodraws3 dated October 31, 2024 reached 3822 notes.
So even on Tumblr we are not just ""noisy"".
• X (or Twitter)
Here things get really funny.
We don't have a precise number, but looking at the likes and shares, the numbers go really high.
The community is increasingly alive, the fanarts reach between 50 likes up to a figure like 5 thousand likes.
Without even excluding the reposts that reach an average of between 100/120 reposts up to even 500 reposts.
They are not few.
• Instagram
Instagram, similarly to X, has fanart or pics in general that revolve around very satisfying results.
From 80 likes up to 2 thousand likes.
One of the arguments often used to belittle Wenclair is that the fandom is mostly made up of extremely young users and therefore "not representative" of the entire Wednesday audience.
However, this claim is not supported by the data. (Besides being pretty bad as a thing to say as if, only adults can appreciate nice but ok things.)
Research shows that LGBTQ+ ships in mainstream media tend to generate the most engagement among 18-34 year olds, who are also the most active age group on fan content platforms like AO3 and Tumblr.
Additionally, TikTok, one of Wenclair’s biggest outlets, has a user base that extends well beyond the underage audience.
TikTok has amassed a slew of video edits and especially fan art videos about Wenclair, garnering hundreds to thousands of likes and shares.
According to data shown by Fandom.com, over 70% of users who interact with LGBTQ+ content in Wednesday’s fandom are between the ages of 18 and 30.

AO3 and Tumblr, the main platforms for fanfiction and fandom discourse, have an average user age of 25 to 40.

The Wenclair phenomenon is not just a passing trend: the ship has been the most discussed on Twitter for several consecutive months after the release of the series, maintaining a constant engagement even in 2024 (especially thanks to the Novelisation)
And when the 2nd season comes out, get ready because fan art and fanfic will return to their prime.

The mystery of the Half Life babies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Original post here!
Info under the cut !!
I got a lot of comments on my last post about old half life advertisements asking what the hell is up with the three separate posters including scary babies and children with lambda symbols burned into their eyes. I didn't really think much of it at first but in hindsight, yeah, that is really weird.
I decided if I wanted to keep my self-made title of "Black Mesa's Historian" I should go digging.
After searching and searching I've found...... nothing.
Old reddit threads and forums theorize it's supposed to represent the Nihilanth, the only baby-like creature in the game (ignoring the photo in Gordon's locker.)
In the Half Life 2 book Raising The Bar, Gabe Newell states the Nihilanth's design was heavily influenced "by the horror aspects of pregnancy and childbirth, to which Valve turned after being inspired by the birth of Gray Newell, Gabe Newell's son."
Tumblr media
The Nihilanth's wiki entry.
BUT this doesn't really answer much. Because these ads were NOT made by Valve. They were made by Sierra, a European publishing company responsible for publishing the Half Life series. After going through their games history I've discovered a crucial detail.
They had no idea how to advertise this game.

Police Quest (1987), Leisure Suit Larry (1987), Quest for Glory (1989)
You see, these were the games Sierra was making. 2d point and click adventures. How they somehow managed to get their hands on Half Life is beyond me, and for another post.
All I can assume is Sierra didn't know how to advertise this 3D survival horror FPS made by rowdy Americans to their European audience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Postal (1997), Resident Evil (1996), Doom (1995)
Remember, this was the 90s. Gaming was the next big hobby for boys. Advertising wasn't meant to show you gameplay, characters, and story. It was meant to be rough, scary, gorey, and awesome. Sierra probably took inspiration from the dozens of other dark shooters around at the time and based their campaign around that. Why they picked babies with evil eyes.. I don't know.
In the end, we may never know the true thought process behind the evil Half Life babies, it doesn't stop me from trying though.

You people like that worldbuilding post huh
Tumblr seemed to have loved my worldbuilding post, people want me to post the spreadsheet and spread the lore now. And I would really love to ! But it's a bit old, rough and definitely unfinished magic system so I would like to adjust some stuff, like the naming. It also completely lacks an actual game system to rely on, so the concept of "mana points" and "status effect" are kinda floating in a vacuum rn. I knew very little to nothing about DnD's systems prior to a month ago when playing Baldur's Gate 3 basically made me think "hold up, this is literally my magic system wth". So now I wonder if I should make the system rely on a tabletop context or videogame context. It's an important question because it changes how randomness and resources can be handled, and I gotta admit that as much as tabletop is tempting, luck is is not my cup of tea. I could try to tweak BG3's system since it's a videogame adaptation of DnD 5e system ; but ngl I would probably prefer making my own system, if I had the time to do so at least. I would like to at least actually make the wiki but I don't know how to proceed. I tried making my own website myself since I know how to make them, but the task is too gargantuan now. I tried using Obsidian instead and it's great but afaic you can't publish it online for free (there is Quartz yes but you still have to host it) If any experienced worldbuilder knows a free way to make and publish a wiki to the web, in possibly two languages even, that would be great ! I could batter on and on about stuff I make but this post is getting long already, so I'm just gonna say thank you because you people interest towards this reignited my will to continue the wiki >:]
