Closing Your Digital Front Door Before Protesting
As protests continue — and hopefully, continue to grow — there are some things to take into consideration.
First, it’s possible to quickly get striking, good looking signs inexpensively. I outlined how I made these superhero-themed signs back into 2018 in a blog post for about $5 each in this blog post: https://ideatrash.net/2018/03/howto-get-striking-and-inexpensive-foa.html

However, the other thing to consider is digital security. ActivistChecklist and The Markup have good resources; I did something slightly different though, and I thought I’d outline that as well.
I had purchased an old Android phone a while back to serve as a barometric pressure sensor off of eBay; I’d won that bid for about $30. It doesn’t have a SIM card, which means that it can only use wifi, but also isn’t tied to me in any way through the cell modem. That wasn’t a problem for my original use for it, but also meant that the guidelines above had to be modified somewhat.
The basic guidelines — turning off biometric unlocking and a lengthy PIN — still hold. I also put my emergency contact phone numbers as the “owner information” on the Android lock screen, so that the numbers are visible without unlocking the phone. (The process may vary from model to model, but some guides and examples are here and here, or you can create a lockscreen photo that has the appropriate information. This is an adjunct to writing those numbers on your arm with a permanent marker.
I installed Organic Maps for directions (because I suck at land navigation). It works completely offline without any problems whatsoever, including looking up points of interest that are already on the map. It’s good enough for regular use as well, in my opinion.
The biggest problem/hurdle is communication. Without a SIM card, you’re reliant on bluetooth or wifi to send or receive data. I did not install Bridgefy — partially because of the required Google login, but more importantly, because it kept crashing. I also tried Briar, but while it installed fine, and even was able to add contacts between this phone and my regular one, no messages got back and forth either via wifi or bluetooth. Signal, my normal go-to, was unfortunately out of the question, because it seemed very unhappy trying to link a second phone as a device. So I ended up putting DeltaChat on this secondary phone, which while meaning I’d be reliant on wifi, does have encryption and can also just use email as a back end as well. Worst case scenario, it’s like I’m back in the 1990s, oh well.
I also have an XMPP server running that could also provide encryption via Conversations. I also have a Matrix server on a homelab that can bridge connections to other networks (including SMS and Signal) as well. While there’s a small break in the E2E encryption with that setup, that break happens entirely and only on a computer entirely under my control that’s sitting in a reasonably secure location. (Also, I think I can enable it, but I haven’t, since it’s literally just me on there.)
After doing all of that, I disabled and deactivated and force-stopped every other bit of Samsung and Google installed on the phone that I could.
I’m perfectly aware that this is not a perfect or impenetrable setup. Ultimately, the best digital security here is to not take your phone at all and rely on paper maps if needed. I made compromises based on my technical ability and how much inconvenience I am willing to accept in the name of security. I’d compare this to locking your doors at night instead of leaving the front door wide open. Someone can still break in, but it’s not trivial for them to do so.
Your security requirements, technical ability, and resources will vary from mine. Mine may change as the environment in the US becomes worse.
But take the time to consider what you are able to do and are comfortable with doing instead of walking to a protest or other action with your digital front door entirely open.

What’s the smartest way to use AEO to get more leads?
Let’s face it—the digital marketing world changes faster than fashion trends in the 90s. Just when you’ve mastered SEO, along comes its sophisticated cousin: AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). If you’re wondering whether this is just another buzzword to ignore or the actual key to your lead generation problems, grab your coffee and settle in.
What Is AEO?
Answer Engine Optimization is simply the next iteration of SEO based on how we really search these days. Do you recall when we’d just type stilted phrases such as “best pizza in Chicago downtown”? Now we ask whole questions: “Where can I get real deep dish pizza within walking distance of Millennium Park?” or just talk normally to our machines: “Hey Google, where’s the best-reviewed pizza joint near me?”
AEO is about being the explicit answer to such question-based conversational searches. Instead of only ranking for keywords, you’re competing to be the voice search, featured snippet, or knowledge panel that answers the very questions your prospective customers have.
And yes, it does make a difference. Based on the most recent Search Metrics statistics, more than 60% of queries now yield some type of featured snippet, and a whopping 49% of all searches yield no further clicks if the query finds their answer outright in the results. Translation: you’re either the answer, or you’re nowhere.
Why AEO Is Your Lead Generation Secret Weapon
Here’s where things get interesting for lead generation. When someone is asking specific questions, they’re typically further along in their buyer’s journey than someone making general searches. They know what problem they’re trying to solve, which means they’re much closer to making a decision.

Consider it—”What is content marketing?” shows someone just discovering it. But “What’s the average ROI on content marketing for SaaS companies?” indicates they’re considering whether or not to invest in it. Bingo! That’s a hot lead if I’ve ever seen one.
Conductor research indicates that search queries based on questions have 78% greater conversion rates than searches based on keywords. Why? Because you’re reaching out to individuals at the precise moment they require particular information to progress in their decision-making process.
The Smart Person’s AEO Strategy
So, how exactly do you do this without requiring a PhD in search algorithms? I’ve simplified it into a structure that won’t drive you to throw your laptop out the window:
1. Question Mining (Or: Stalking Your Customers’ Curiosity)
Begin by figuring out what questions your potential buyers are really asking. This is not a guess—it’s research:
People Also Ask boxes: Look up your main subjects and examine these treasure troves of similar questions.
Answer sites: Search Quora, Reddit, and professional forums where individuals express their uncertainties without hesitation.
Customer interactions: Go through emails, support requests, and sales call summaries (the questions that individuals ask your staff are the same as they ask Google).
Question research tools: Employ AlsoAsked.com, AnswerThePublic, or BuzzSumo’s question analyzer to discover frequently asked questions within your industry.
The objective? Develop a question inventory by buyer journey stage. And for goodness’ sake, don’t forget the strange, peculiar questions—those usually have the fewest competitors.
2. Content Organization (Or: Making Google’s Job Embarrassingly Easy)
This is where most companies go wrong: they hide answers behind blocks of copy that even the most persistent reader would give up on. Instead:
Embed the question in a header (H2 or H3) directly.
Immediately follow up with a concise, clear answer (40–60 words is optimal for featured snippets).
Then expand with supportive information, examples, and detail.
Use structured data markup (FAQ, HowTo, or Q&A schema) to spoon-feed search engines.
Add complementary formats such as tables, lists, or steps as needed.
Keep in mind, you’re writing to two audiences at once: the search engine that must know you’re answering the question, and the human that must know more than a skeletal answer in order to take action.
3. Authority Building (Or: Showing You’re Not Making This Stuff Up)
Google doesn’t merely want answers—it wants authoritative answers. Every piece of content should show why you’re competent enough to answer this particular question:
Back it up with numbers and research (with real citations, like an adult).
Reference authoritative sources that support your argument.
Demonstrate expertise via case studies, client testimonials, or personal experience.
Keep content updated regularly to stay credible (outdated answers are a fast path to irrelevance).
One of my finance services clients boosted their featured snippet showings by 218% by just including credential details and experience background information in their expert writers’ profiles and linking these to their schema markup. Small tweak, huge impact.
4. Conversion Optimization (Or: Actually Getting Leads From All This Work)
Writing fantastic answers is half the fight. The other half is converting those answer-hunters into leads:
Add contextual, natural CTAs that refer directly to the question being answered.
Provide “next step” tools that answer the next obvious questions.
Employ problem-conscious lead magnets that elaborate on the answer with templates, checklists, or guides.
Apply exit-intent promotions for question-focused content.
Experiment with various CTA placements, specifically for featured snippet traffic (these searchers act differently than the average search visitor).
The statistics here are convincing: Orbit Media discovered that question-focused content with conversion paths optimized to it converts 32% more effectively than generic content with normal CTAs.
Measuring Your AEO Success
How do you know whether all this effort is actually paying off? Monitor these specific metrics:
Featured snippet/answer box appearances (tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs can monitor these)
Question-based keyword rankings
Zero-click search traffic (measured via branded searches and direct traffic growth)
Time on page for question-based content
Conversion rates, particularly from question-based landing pages
A manufacturing client of ours learned that although their AEO content drove 30% less traffic than their product pages, it yielded 2.4x more qualified leads. Quality over quantity, friends.
So, Is AEO Worth Your Time? (Really, Truly?)
If you’re in a crowded market where conventional SEO is like trying to be heard in a stadium full of marketers shouting “Pick me!”, AEO offers the quieter—but smarter—strategy. While everyone else is chasing keywords, you’re becoming the answer. And in a world of zero-click searches and overwhelmed users, being the answer isn’t just smart—it’s necessary.
So go ahead. Be useful. Be specific. Be the result that makes search engines say, “This one. Right here.” And if that’s not modern lead generation genius, we don’t know what is.

Day 20 - Concern - The 3rd of the 5 C's of Negativity
Day 20 - Concern... We hope these topics are useful to you and help you on your path to living a life beyond your dreams. #DUTEIYAFO (Don't Use Today Even If Your Ass Falls Off)
Body text:
Let's continue to the 3rd of the 5 C's of complaining, criticizing, concern, commiserating, and catastrophizing. Today we are going to discuss the third of the 5 C's, Concern. I hope by doing so, I can release myself from the trap of this negative mindset. Let's see how we can relate today's topic and how it impacts my life.
today we will discuss Concern
Concern is natural, especially when I care deeply about someone or something. But when concern crosses the line into constant worry, it starts to take over my thoughts and emotions. Instead of helping me feel more in control or prepared, excessive concern keeps me trapped in anxiety, always thinking about worst-case scenarios. I start to live in the "what ifs," imagining everything that could go wrong, and it robs me of peace in the present moment. When I’m overly concerned, it’s like carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders, and it becomes exhausting, both mentally and emotionally.
This constant state of concern doesn’t just affect my mindset—it affects how I interact with others, too. I might start trying to control situations or people to ease my own worries, and that often leads to frustration. No matter how much I worry, I can’t control everything, and the more I try, the more out of control I feel. Over time, this habit of over-concern can drain my energy and take away from my ability to enjoy life as it is. I get stuck in my head, always anticipating problems, and it keeps me from fully engaging in the present or seeing the positive things around me.
To break free from this habit, I need to practice letting go of what I can’t control. I can start by recognizing when concern turns into unproductive worry and remind myself that not everything is mine to fix. Focusing on what’s within my control—my actions, my attitude—helps me feel empowered, rather than overwhelmed. I also need to practice trusting the process and the people around me. When I choose to release the need to worry about every detail, I make room for peace, clarity, and focus. By doing this, I can shift my concern from anxiety to healthy, solution-focused thinking.
To make it as simple as I can, it goes like this... I can only focus on so many things t one time. Really, maybe 6 to 10 things. Things like the sound of this video, the temperature of the room I am in... etc... so, if I fill my focus on the things I can control, and things I want to focus on, things that benefit me, I leave no room for the concern for the things I cannot do anything about. I am not pretending they will go away, but I can take a break from the weariness of overactive concern.

Homemade mini excavator- Satisfying jobs and machinery in the world #sat...
Here's how it goes he has an idea so do I mine is to put a PTO in use it on a lawn mower but they already have it and this guy doesn't have a lawn mower he doesn't have two sticks to rub together my son wants to take his idea and to thank him for it somehow properly and we like to do that and he wants to make it out of wood but make it so it articulates and has a sharper bucket and is easier to use and is on the platform that's truly mobile so his idea would be to use wood and I can bring some Stratton motor on like some sort of makeshift go kart that has it's like the tractor tires but they're small and really cheap and they're not lawn mower tires so like tractor tires and I know how you can arrange you and make it out of wood almost the whole thing it's not really a kit except for the motor and you attach the motor to a PTO that's not too hard it's you take the motor and you attach it to the wheels when you're driving and you move it over and it's a whole motor into the different position and it attaches to your cable system and it will wind the cables the way that you control it with manual controls and it is not complicated to design it's a little bit of a challenge to build but these people build tons of makeshift stuff out of the blue this is an incredible idea what our son came up with and this guy and he can have a manual one it's the same thing but the cables will be in a like a larger crank so you can actually do real digging and it'll be fast and he says you could use a pedal a foot pedals and you could make like a stand type thing and really a good stanchion you put stanchions and you could use a pedal system and we'd have a string system like this which is really old fashioned but it's only good for mock but there's tons of mock and you can have different length booms and different size wooden vehicles and you don't have to be rich or a brain surgeon and you can have floating ones that are wooden and you put them on a barge made out of logs and you collect the poop the the sludge that's what he's doing and it's important to note that he said and I said a lot of us point out Hera points out to on a barge it's very valuable and we could have a kid that shows you how to lash the logs together because it can go down deep and it's easier and they also said you could take a clamshell and you could have a boom and it swings over and the clamshell could go to the middle of the raft and it could hold it can bring up bigger loads same deal you can hand crank it or we could get a Briggs & Stratton motor or set up a few bicycles I had to run a crank and yeah the clamshell would work great because it would get the moisture out and I'll get like eight shovelfuls that's a lot that's like two bags of ready mix concrete but made out of wood you're making a big log floating raft and be very heavy and you'd have to put a rope across and you just move the rope and you pull it along and it would not move that much and it would be slow and you just shovel it on to little boats or you pull it up on shore he says smaller ponds and pull up on shore when you're full and unloaded once again you can have a crank system for a belt drive loader and yeah they make those all the time and it's really Swift this is some smart stuff you put it in buckets into a truck or into your makeshift wooden truck and we can make them and he says there's a simple dump you can use it's like a buggy and you make a makeshift buggy you can make it out of wood you need to have steel for an axle and the tires and stuff but you can use a car the system even if a car chassis would work better so we're going to put this kind of thing out there and in designs and we're going to ask people to come forwards and do it for their area and I'm going to ask for these designs in by I don't know Saturday and they say that's fine how do I get ready to put it out in market and man as I said good we're going to do that this is awesome
Thor Freya
It's actually me I heard you saying this is awesome and wondering why I knew it was the muck and I knew you had a problem with it you said you could make a log one with dry or longs and a couple logs deep in a float and you make a smaller logs and you have a couple bins and one of those homemade conveyors and I said holy s*** and you put the clamshell in the middle with cranks I said that would take a bit of work and said yeah but you could move it around and it says holy crap I thought it was great we'll meet around was a good idea just disconnect the lawns the logs and you relocate the whole thing and you get mark from another one I said you take a car chassis and you put like a buggy on the back can even make it out of wood but the buggy the way it's built holds a lot but it dumps out easy now I started to listen cuz it's brilliant stuff he said you need just the axles if you don't have the chassis and the tires so I was trying to work on one and I said you know what this is like a buckboard and it works and we're bouncing around and I really have springs and we had a buggy bucket that we made and it dumps it locks in and for Christ's sake this system works and with the clamshell thing I'm not done making it but I can get a few ponds done a day and trudge the whole thing and then the pond will come back to life and we need that too he says he's going to try and design them but women Bill might have designs for these in a certain wood works forever and we do have the kind of wood that's type of Ash and they said it's pretty good but around where we are we have redwood and we'll see those trees are not sacred and we can use them and he said his idea is great especially the clam show it takes a lot less time and energy and you're pulling it up this big load and you dump it and it drains out the logs and algae throws and then you have the huge loads and you drive off in your homemade buggy or you use a bowls and really we have some engines we can use this is awesome and we need help on the PTO he said the wood would work great for the PTO but you need to have metal joints and stuff and metal to run the cables and airplane water he says airplane wire oddly enough is found all over the place in these airplane graveyards along with the joints there they're on the airplanes and and these guys said they're pretty good joints it turns the wing brothers and stuff and there's some nice metal on it and maybe even the engines but no they're usually bad that's why they do it but really there's a lot of stuff you can use like the fuselage with seats if it's raining so we're going to go ahead and do it
Gatth
This is insanity and he's got to get some sleepy says I really love this stuff I thank him for his help

Aziraphale moved with him--let him touch their foreheads and let him get away with that indirect request for reassurance that he normally might have teased him for. "I. love. you." He said it slowly. Clearly. Each word given space and time to settle into memory. Then he repeated it. "I love you."
He took a deep breath, then let go of Crowley's hand to wrap arms around his waist and shoulders and pull him forward into a hug he wasn'tquite sure he knew howto do correctly. "And I'm yours. And you, Crowley, are mine. I won't let anyone take you from me again."
That had to be enough, because he simply didn't have any more good words.
|| CLOSED || Crowley & Aziraphale ||
Starter for @galacticforces based on this bc how could I not
Crowley had all but shoved Muriel towards the door that morning with instructions to feed the ducks and find something to do, the kid wasn't horrible but sometimes he just wanted to wallow and they were just so damn chipper. At the sound of the door opening and then closing again he called out. “Where closed! Can't ya read the damn sign?”
He didn't move from where he was sprawled on the couch, a scarf he'd found on the coat rack that definitely belonged to Aziraphale being used to cover his eyes and block out the light bleeding in around the edge of the blinds so he could at least pretend to sleep.
“If you got liquor leave it and go, if it's another damn casserole take it with you.” He didn't know what it was with humans and trying to feed people they thought were grieving, but he wasn't usual one for food and tossing them was quickly becoming a chore he didn't want

How to Hotspotmining, what is it? and is it worth it?
#mining #homemining #miningcrypto #howtominehelium
Hotspot mining has become really popular in recent times and it is said to be the people's network. But what does that really mean? And can you make money from it?
How to mine helium.
Installing your helium miner is simple. Unlike other hardware mining, helium machines do not sound anything. And they do not draw as much electricity as bitcoin mining! What you do is to buy a custom-made router that you connect to your internet and a power supply. Download the helium app and scan your router's QR code. It's that simple.
At the time of writing, 1 HNT (helium coin) is worth $ 13.94USDT
What are the benefits of hotspot mining?
In today's situation the helium network are under development. But you can still mine their coin HNT.
In the future, everything will be able to be connected to the helium network and provide you as a user with a safer and more private internet use. Since Helium is a long-range wireless coverage, it means that everyone who joins the helium network will get better coverage. This is incredibly valuable for everyone in the future when it comes to being able to rely on a stable connection. It applies to everyone and everything!
AND YES IT'S WORTH IT! You want to be among the first owners of a hotspot miner in your area? Because if there is to many you won't earn as much as if there is only 3 other hotspot miners in your area.

I use a digital art piece based on a friend of mine to help illustrate my point. Thanks for watching, like, share, subscribe and comment. Let me know what yall think. Leave a comment on what I should draw or paint next and I’ll pick one and do it.

✨🌻How To: Simple and Fresh Makeup🌻✨
Here is a step-by-step tutorial of my every day makeup routine! This is the type of makeup I would wear to run an errand,FaceTime with a friend, or to generally feel put together. If you’re interested, click Read More and want to ask me a question or let me know what you think, askbox is here.

1. Starting with a clean face, I use a BB Cream tinted moisturizer with SPF 30. This gives me light coverage and sun protection. I blend the BB cream with a damp beauty blender makeup sponge all over my face including neck and under eye.
2. I use a light concealer on the inner-third of the under eye blending onto the sides of my nose bridge and then on the outer-third of the under eye, making a wing motion to connect the tip of the eye with the tip of the eyebrow. This really helps to brighten up the eyes and make you look more “awake.” Then apply concealer as needed on other parts of the face and blend. A makeup sponge or the pads of your ring fingers are okay to use for blending too!

3. Before doing the eye shadow, I use an eye shadow primer. I have hooded eyelids and doing this helps prevent oiliness and creasing while making it easier to blend shadows later. For eye shadow, select three shades that compliment each other and for a natural look stick with browns/neutrals. Pick 3 shadow colors: a medium tone, a dark tone, and a light tone (you might choose a shimmer). First apply the medium tone all over the eyelid with a fluffy brush and blend up to the brow bone. Then with a smaller brush, define the crease with the darker tone. Finish the shadow by using the lightest shade on your whole eyelid but focusing on the inner half of the lid. Make sure you apply some of the medium tone to the lower lash line to balance it out. Add eyeliner if you like!

4. At this point I like to apply mascara (or lashes), lip gloss, and groom my brows with gel. For a summery and tan look I apply bronzer/blush then dust highlighter over top of that and on the high points of my face like nose, brow bone, and cupid’s bow!
I hope you can find this how to useful! To see photos of my past makeup looks, check here. Please like this post if you read it and I will give you a blo rate!
