What's amusing about Harry Potter is that the older generation of fans grew up with the younger generation of characters (Harry potter & co). Meanwhile the younger generation of fans are growing up with the older generation of characters (fantastic beasts).

My friend was taking the Hogwarts sorting house quiz and he was on the question ‘How would you like to be known to history’ and he said “why would you choose ‘the good’ when you can choose ‘the great’?”
Unsurprisingly, he ended up in slytherin

Does it have to be a show? Because if not, Harry Potter series :)
ok now this is difficult because of how many characters are in the HP series… but I’ll try to narrow it down
1. Luna Lovegood2. Remus Lupin3. Ginny Weasley4. Hermione Granger5. Minerva McGonagall

why do people still see slytherins as ‘loners’ even though even though one of the main things slytherin is known for (as in, mentioned in the sorting hat’s introduction of each house) is the that it is the house where you will meet ‘your real friends’

In regards to your post about Dumbledore, I understand your confusion! However, showing a character "being gay" is very different than "acting gay." In the text there is no allusion to his sexuality which means there is absolutely no representation and that it either wasn't important enough or was intentionally kept a secret, versus straight characters' sexualities being explicitly stated and acted upon. The problem is JKR told us that he was gay, but deliberately kept it from the text itself.
I can totally see your point, and I’m not denying that it is important to show gay, straight and bi relationships.
But, it all comes back to the fact that the whole story is from Harry’s perspective. There’s probably so many things we missed all because it is through the eyes of this boy who won’t know everything there is to know about the world. One point that sticks out in my mind is when Tonks is devastated in the 6th book and everyone is talking about how sad she is, and how her Patronus has changed it’s form. Harry is convinced this is due to her sadness over losing Sirius, BUT it ends up being because of Remus and how he won’t be in a relationship with her even though they’re in love with each other. We never find this out until the end of the book after Bill has been attacked and they’re all in the Hospital Wing. Now if the story had been from a different person’s perspective (such as Mrs Weasley) then we would have found this information out so much sooner than we did.
So I find it hard to find a place in the story to actually say that Dumbledore is gay? We don’t know the sexual orientation of any of the other Professors, we don’t know if they’re married, single, divorced, widowed etc so why should we know about Dumbledore being gay? Like kudos to JKR for saying he is, because I think it’s pretty awesome, but at the same time I don’t see why she would have had to point it out in the book? Just because of his standing within the story I feel like suddenly announcing he was gay in the middle of the story would have seemed strange? Just like announcing any of the other teachers orientations? I feel that it would have been more realistic (to the story being from Harry’s perspective) if it were a fellow student that was gay? Because that would more likely be talked about because of peers.
I mean, I don’t have a clue if any of my lecturers are gay, straight, bi, married, single, divorced etc because in all honesty it’s none of my business to know. They are there to teach me, and guide me in my education; not to gossip about their lives. It isn’t in their interests to stand up in front of the class, raise their hands and say “Yes, I am gay.” To me, it makes no difference in their quality of teaching depending on their sexual orientation and I feel that is how JKR probably thought when knowing Dumbledore was gay but never actually stating so in the books. Him being gay or straight doesn’t change the story much (apart from he was probably in love with Grindelwald????? Which would have been v interesting to read tbh).
So yeah, him being gay is pretty cool and it’s cool that JKR decided to tell us, but because of the eyes we are witnessing the story through (Harry’s), I can totally understand why it never came up.
