In the bustling streets of Jerusalem, an unexpected hero emerges—not with a sword, but on a humble donkey. John 12 brings us to one of the most celebrated events in the Christian faith: the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. But this wasn’t just a parade; it was a powerful declaration of who Jesus truly was and the kind of kingdom He came to establish.

As Jesus approached the city, the air was electric with anticipation. The crowds had heard of His miracles—how He raised Lazarus from the dead and healed the sick. They were convinced that this man was the Messiah, the one who would liberate them from Roman oppression. So, they welcomed Him with palm branches, a symbol of victory, and shouts of “Hosanna!” echoing the messianic hope found in Psalm 118.

But here’s the twist: Jesus didn’t come as a warrior king. Instead, He chose to ride into Jerusalem on a young donkey, fulfilling the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9 that the Messiah would come in peace. This act was a bold statement that His kingdom was not about earthly power or military might but about peace, humility, and spiritual victory.

The crowd’s enthusiasm was palpable, but it was clear they didn’t fully grasp the significance of the moment. They were looking for a political savior, while Jesus came to offer something far greater—salvation from sin and the promise of eternal life. This is the beauty of John 12: it invites us to reimagine what true victory looks like. It’s not always about conquering our enemies; sometimes, it’s about overcoming our own hearts.

As we wave our metaphorical palm branches, let’s remember that Jesus’ triumph was not in what He took by force but in what He gave—His life. In this, He showed us that the path to true greatness lies in humility, service, and love.

They stopped when they heard something approaching. then SWOOSH arrows coming from all directions killing Snakesqua’s men then it stopped, when this leader was no where to be found. Shekinah freed herself with the arrowhead she had concealed in her fists when she found an arm wrapped around her neck and a sharp object prodding her neck. HIM. He was holding her hostage for his release. When he was done with “request” there was a moment of hesitation that she took, and stabbed Snakesqua in the eye and he let go of Shekinah and dropped the shank that he was holding. Shekinah grabbed it and stabbed the man over and over-until she was standing over his dead body. She had ended the string of heinous crime. A true warrior. The first-EVER. A man walked up to her- he was from her village-her father. She cried in inner pain in his arms, for finally it was over.

Humble Update

We’re up to version 0.9.0 of the game, with added control options and a bit of a tweak to the speed of the game. Version 1.0 is on the horizon!

Humble Heroes sessie met Ingrid Simons En toen kwam de vraag of ik beschikbaar was op vrijdag de 23e mei. We zaten in de drukke artiesten kleedkamer beneden na het optreden van The Supremium Tribute op Koningsdag in Rotterdam Blaak, en ik hoorde Ingrid iets zeggen over Heroes. Zeg het nog eens zei ik tegen haar, hoorde ik het nou goed? Heeft ze het over een van mijn favouriete Youtube progamma…

Behold your Humble Hero!

So, um, yeah - we’ve changed the look of the main character after taking way more time than I should have trying to adapt another style of artwork to the game.

Thankfully, irmirx from OpenGameArt.org posted this awesome Tron-inspired white knight character, which will fit the bill nicely while I work on my own art skills.

Final(ish) Playtesting

So we’re in the final hours before we, as promised, actually put this out for people to be able to play. I think it’ll be a fun little romp. And to be honest, it should be fun to see how people completely stomp all over my personal high score.
