You know when someone asks why Miko is my favorite tf character and not someone like Optimus or Starscream. I could give a bs smart answer like I relate to her, she has great themes that can be explored, I randomly had hyperfixated on her, or Miko is one of the best human characters in this fandom. Which don't get me wrong it is true; that's a part of the reason she's my favorite, but it's not the main. If I'm being completely honest with myself she's my favorite because........
Miko is fucking crazy man. Like absolutely mental.
Let's go down the list here:
First day with the autobots she saw Bulkhead rip out a vehicons guts right in front of her and thought it was cool.
Convinced Bulkhead to try indirectly murder Breakdown.
Went for an axe and tried to fight Soundwave's tentacle.
Killed hardshell. (This is a given)
When she learned about the autobots leaving to cybertron she immediately made plans to move there. Which isn't really crazy but I think it's really sweet and I wanted to bring it up.
Regularly sneaks along missions she knew are extremely dangerous and have proven to be dangerous in the past.
Threatened overlord of the decepticons Megatron to his face.
Killed four vehicons. (Which btw I did not know about for the longest time wtf?? I get their canon fodder but still.)
Helped send Soundwave to the shadow zone. Which to her and the other kids knowledge at the time were he would slowly starve to death.
Just the general love of extreme violence.
If Starscream and the other vehicons hadn't fled she would have 100% tried to kill them in the apex armor.
In the comics Miko asked if they could "do it again" after she freed Raf from mind control and he had sent decepticons out of the base through a loopback from the ground bridge.
Everyone in the fandom collectively agreeing Miko getting a gun would single handedly cause the destruction of the entire state of Nevada.
There's some other things but I don't remember what. (>:[)
And before people start saying "Oh she has a canon reason for this and she's really not aware of the consequences"-
Shut up.
She's a little murder chaos goblin to me and I WON'T HAVE ANY OF YOU TAKE THAT FROM ME!!!!! /Joke obviously.

Can't believe JSAB is 7 years old now,,, wow time flies. I remember watching a playthrough of it when it first came out back in 2018, but never actually getting into the fandom because I was unable to draw the characters in a way I liked. Then, in 2021, I remembered it existed and bought it when it went on sale. Luckily, this was just before Lost Chapter came out so I was given a TON of content to consume and hyperfixate on. I never expected this game to plant itself so firmly in my mind, but here we are. This game introduced me to some of my closest online friends, whom I all love dearly and wouldn't trade the world for. JSAB:H reminded me that I love comics, and made me realize what my career path was going to be after struggling to figure it out for years. My art has improved significantly thanks to consistently doing the comic, and I am so so thankful for the support on it that I get. Thanks to JSAB, I found a community of fans that are also interested in my personal projects! If I hadn't gotten into this fandom, Incognito wouldn't exist. This game pushed me to draw less realistically and more cartoonishly, and in turn got me to a point where I actually, genuinely like my art style for once.
Thank you Beserk for making a wonderful game, and thank you all in the community for being absolute joys to interact with <3

i've contemplated sending u an ask here for like 2 days regarding ur sonadow art and oufhgh i have to say it is so,, so gentle like the intimacy and softness of it all/pos i hardly see artists that explore the intimate cuddly drawings without the sexual coding so finding your art is so nice?? like refreshing nice as an aroace person bc in my perfect world, many little guys are just cat coded and it's so so cool to me to have found ur art out in the wild also for the mpreg stuff youre literally one of the most normal ppl i've seen draw/bring it up lol, i'm aware so many ppl like to meme on it or make it a fetish which tbh is pretty transphobic, so i'm just really glad you steered it away from that direction and displayed it as something normal and gentle given the context of the au/lh
first off thank you this is such a nice message and i love that people also feel the vibes of soft and intimate from my sonadow art that’s my only ever goal whenever i drew them 😭😭
second off FELLOW AROACE PERSON ACQUIRED đŸ«”â€Œïžlike omg you get it i love thinking about ships in a cat coding way if that makes sense but especially sonadow bc they’re animals so i just love thinking about them as little guys i can put in my pocket just like my cat
like idk if this is an aroace thing bc i don’t hear it described in a way that i relate to exactly so this might just be me but basically: i’ve always loved romance and ships in fiction but as i got older i slowly realized that i don’t think i can feel it for myself. which kinda made me sad at first because the idea of having a partner always seemed so nice, that was the main reason i didn’t think i was aroace at first because i thought i had always wanted to be in a relationship. i did some research and looked into different identities on the aroace spectrum, and thought that cupioromantic was probably the most accurate to what i was feeling, but later didn’t feel like it applied to me because i think the “enjoys the idea of being in a relationship” doesn’t fit right? ig?? idk how to describe it other than i like the idea of relationships, but it took me awhile to realize that i didn’t really want to apply myself in one if that makes sense.
most likely there’s a thing or word out there that already exists to describe that and i just haven’t been looking up the right terms, but basically this is just a very very long way of saying that i feel like whenever i get into a ship it sorta..
attaches?? to my very identity or something?? like i know people can be like “this is my OTP i love them forever and think about them literally all the time” and it’s like YES that’s me but also feels like an understatement, like all of my past hyperfixations on ships are literally ingrained into my soul even i’m not that into them anymore. and i know people compare hyperfixations to relationships and tbh that’s probably the most accurate description but again, that feels like an understatement.
okay honestly idk where i’m going with this i think what i’m TRYING to say is that i feel like because i can’t feel romance for myself my appreciation for ships feels so much more
emphasized, and sonadow is like the longest consistent hyperfixation i’ve ever had on a ship and at that point usually when something has been a “hyperfixation” for 2+ plus years i put it on the special interest display case in my brain except that display case has only ever had like hobbies and fandoms themselves, never an actual fictional relationship that i’m obsessed with but here we are. it might be the development of brain has synched up with this specific hyperfixation but sonadow is the first ship that makes me feel genuinely happy to this degree. it doesn’t make me sad to think about them and also go “aw i’m sad because i’ve never felt that way about another person and probably won’t experience that ever” in the exact same way you would go “aw i’m going to be dead someday” when you think about the fact that you’re alive right now and conscious and exist and have a mini existential crisis of the week. like sonadow doesn’t do that to me, i really just love those stupid fucking gay hedgehogs so much they’ve actually changed the entire layout of my brain and all the neurons and shit they’re everything to me.
ANYWAY JESUS CHRIST sorry for the ramble uhhhh lemme know if you or any other aroace people know what the fuck i was trying to say there hope you’re doing well and also happy new year!!!

Hi there! I’ve recently become a new fan of the Predator series. And been very hyperfixated on the currently shown Yautjas in Predator: Killer of Killers.
I wanted to request a Drabble of the humans (Ursa, Torres and the samurai ( I forgot his name
) with reader. Like how Ursa got her Axe, Then Samurai his Katana and Torres his little gun hehe. Then the reader who was left to fight with their fists.
I would like for the reader to be She/her, but it’s not important and it’s fine if it’s gender neutral!
Hopefully it’s not too much to request, it’s not very descriptive, i apologize for that. But I did wanna see what you’d come up with.
Mozel tov! I'm glad more people are becoming interested in Predator thanks to the new movies! I'd say I'm still relatively new to the fandom, I joined back in 2022 when Prey came out and I've been in love since. But there was barely any media to consume back then, so I'm glad we're getting a new wave of people coming in!
Anyway, enough of me yapping.
When you wake up in some kind of strange cryo chamber, that's your first hint that something is wrong. After plucking electrode patches off of your skin, you're met with a gurgling grumble of one of those beasts you had slayed. It's head tilted to beckon you forward.
You end up placed in a room with a samurai, a shieldmaiden, and some kind of mechanic? The mechanic seemed desperate to talk to anyone, but you're all taken out of the room before an actual conversation begins. Those beasts kneeling down at either side of the entrance in some kind of twisted show of respect.
The place you're led to is something else entirely. Something written in fantasy books, only difference is that this is some kind of nightmarish reality.
The one standing on top of the monster's skull is decorated in the bones of beasts that you couldn't even comprehend. Clearly the Leader of this entire operation.
The collar sits heavy on your throat as it translates his words.
A battle to the death.
The last one standing will face him.
You look at the two warriors standing on your right... yeah, you aren't beating them in a fight.
Three large capsules descend from above. Your weapons. The viking is given a shield, the samurai a sword, the mechanic a handheld gun...
You are presented with jack shit.
This is simply unfair.
He has a sword! He has a gun! And the woman has a shield, but you're sure she can do some serious damage with a defensive weapon. She should've been the one to fight bare handed. She looks like she could probably win with just her hands alone! At least the rest of you would be given an even playing field.
The shieldmaiden charges towards the samurai before you even have time to jump back properly, the samurai accidentally shoulder checking you in his rush to a defensive position.
Leaving you and the mechanic, who you've come to know as Torres.
...
He looks weak enough, you could probably tackle him and take his gun. But you don't know how to work a gun from the 1700s. Neither does he apparently as he twists and turns the pistol in his hand. He looks up at you.
You punch him square in the jaw.
Knocking him flat on the ground.
You hear a shout as the shieldmaiden charges at you from behind. You barely turn around in time to see her. But the samurai is much faster than you, blocking her attack. He shouts at her in Japanese, but unsurprisingly, it falls upon deaf ears.
It's only until a giant beast enters the ring and swallows Torres do you think that perhaps working together might be a good idea.
The beast is swept away by a clean-up crew once you all defeat it, taking with it a dead Torres. But you can't mourn the loss long before the mechanic bursts through the gate on some kind of flying motorbike.
Riding up the monster's skull to reach the top, only for the beast to launch an axe towards the vehicle. It spins out of control, throwing yourself and Torres off to the side in a firey explosion. It takes a hot second to get back up before Torres grabs your arm and hauls you up, ducking behind a wall of flames and peeking between the embers.
He looks at you.
You nod.
You sneakily make your way onto the ship, watching the mechanic as he tries to operate the ship, mumbling incessantly to himself as he struggles to man the controls. You hang onto the side of his seat, losing your footing more than once. The two of you shout for the samurai and the viking to hurry up and board the ship.
The ship begins to take off, and you look behind you to check if the other two have made it on safely. A wince pulls at your facial muscles as you see the samurai missing an arm.
A sigh of relief nearly escapes you.
Foolishly thinking that you were out of the woods.
Until a harpoon spears itself into the back of the ship. Dragging it back down, making you all lose your balance.
The three of you in the back attempt to pull at the harpoon to no avail. The shieldmaiden says something in her native tongue, placing her fist on her chest as she nods softly.
She uses her shield to zip down the wire.
Sacrificing herself.
...
You didn't even know her name.
But whatever she does cuts the wire loose. And Torres wastes no time in firing off the engines again.
You and the samurai approach the mechanic's seat. Looking over at the two of you, the samurai nods in acknowledgement.
"やったね...ć…„ćŒŸ."

Black Dahlia - 35. Just Sex?
Summary: Fucking War Games.
Garrick Tavis x OC (Dahlia Aetos)
Black Dahlia Masterlist | Masterlist | Links
Tumblr media
I can’t help but glare up at the dais. Fucking War Games. Leadership had strolled down the halls at an ungodly hour this morning, ringing bells, banging on doors, and calling for us all to dress and head to formation. Which for those who got sleep was fine. Myself on the other hand
the multiple rounds Garrick and I had gone for had left both of us with very little sleep. And by very little. I got none.
I wanted to burn the memory of me trying to scurry off Garrick, hastily dressing in my dress uniform before I’d rushed out the door only to run into Xaden who was about to knock on the door, as well as Bodhi who had been following him like a lost puppy. Bodhi who was now staring a head with a shit eating grin on his face.
”What’s up with you two? You look like you want to murder someone and Bodhi looks like you’ve given him the best gift he’s ever gotten.” Austin comments as she looks between the two of us.
”Oh because she did.” He joyfully adds as he smiles down at me. I roll my eyes, ignoring his comment.
“It’s nothing. I just didn’t sleep well.” I say dismissively, Austin looking at me like she doesn’t believe me but slowly nods.
”I hardly think Garrick is nothing.” Bodhi teases from besides me, Austin’s eyes snapping to him. I on the other hand turn and narrow my eyes at him, catching a pair of familiar hazel eyes as I do so. “Remind me where I found you this morning?”
Austin grasps my shoulder excitedly. “Holy shit, did it happen?”
”Oh it definitely did.” Liz says happily as she pokes her head around Austin.
”For fucks sake, yes. Now keep your voices down.” I hiss at them as I turn my attention back to the front where leadership and wing leaders are talking.
”So are you two like together?” Bodhi whispers to me as he leans closer.
I shove him away jokingly. “It was just sex.”
Bodhi looks shocked at my words, looking between me and where I know Garrick stands. I don’t dare meet Garrick’s eyes though. I know if I do I’ll want to drag him away at figure out what the fuck we were now. And maybe go another round or two. Two weeks ago he’d essentially broken my heart even though I’d never given it to him. Then he’d come and defended me against my father like I meant something to him. And then I’d thrown caution to the wind and kissed him. Let him consume me, and give into the tension that had been there for the better part of the year. Though the few words we had spoken indicated this was more than just sex. But how much more I wasn’t sure. ”
I don’t think it was just sex, for either of you.” Bodhi states as he turns his attention back to me. “I might have only known you a year Dahlia, but I’ve never seen you like this. Go tell him.”
I look over and see Garrick looking directly at me. His hazel eyes piercing into mine, as if trying to read my thoughts, see what’s going on inside my head. I should hate him. Should want nothing to do with him after everything that had happened in the last year. But I didn’t. I wanted that handsome asshole more than anything. I wanted to leap into the unknown and see where the hell it took me. See what this could be, even if it meant getting hurt again.
”We have War Games to win first.” I tell Bodhi as I turn my head to look at him. “Let’s see if we survive that first before diving into my questionable love life.” A/N: And don't worry, I'm not that cruel to leave you hanging for a week. Post War Games coming tomorrow.

Explaining the appeal of Brokeback Winterfell
Alternative title: The Inherent Homoeroticism of Jacaerys Velaryon and Cregan Stark's Relationship that Has Taken Residence in The Deepest Recesses of My Hyperfixated Brain
Let me establish these characters before everything else.
Jacaerys Velaryon. His deal in the books is ambiguous but it's pretty clear in the show — he knows his claim to the throne is built on a lie, so he overcompensates for this by trying to be the perfect prince. He is dutiful to a fault, severely self-conscious and self-critical, and protective of his mother and brothers. He knows his uncles, his rivals to the throne, with their bigger dragons and silver hair have more claim to Valyrian heritage than he ever will. This all manifests in him striving to become this idealized image of the perfect Targaryen prince that he knows he can never achieve.
Cregan Stark. If Jace is supposed to be the perfect Targaryen prince, Cregan is talked about like the second coming of the old Kings of Winter. He is formidable swordsman and a stern ruler who doesn't hesitate meting harsh punishment. He is the idealized image of a Stark lord — stoic yet fierce in battle, someone who keeps to his oaths and the law.
However, what most characters in the books (and people in the fandom) seem to forget is that Cregan, at least in the dance, is very young — that's why I personally love the fact that HBO made him clean-shaven on the show. He's still a gruff northener, but it emphasizes his youth. He's 21-23 during the time of the dance, and he is ruling over Winterfell as someone who had to depose his uncle when he was a teen.
Mind you, northerners have tighter-knit families compared to most everyone else in Westeros. To quote the books: When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives. Cregan had to make himself a lone wolf in order to assert his lordship over Winterfell — which to a northern lad who already lost his father and younger brother must have been a difficult choice to make. Add to that his childhood friend/wife dying in childbirth and leaving him a single father, Cregan must be a very lonely wolf indeed.
But despite his loneliness, he does not let anyone in — or rather, he believes that he can't afford to because he knows there are people who will take advantage of his youth and his affections. It's shown in the Hour of Wolf that he is unforgiving, guarded, and does not trust anyone. This is understandable given that his uncle who raised him as a boy committed treason against him. But he seems to have a soft spot for those who are fierce and free-spirited and people who appeal to his sense of duty — these give him "acceptable" avenues to put down the northern masculine mask and be less rigid. Both tie back to a yearning for family.
Okay, so you got these two fellows: Prince Perfect Not-so-Valyrian Heir and Lord Stoic Northman Who Is Actually Deeply Lonely. Both of them have molded themselves to fit this mask of ideal masculinity because they believe it is their duty to their families and the only way to protect themselves in the arena of feudal politics.
Now put them together and what do you get? Chemistry. They see themselves in each other which leads to identification which leads to empathy which leads to curiousity which leads to dissection which leads to vulnerability which leads to intimacy. Jace sees the authority and respect Cregan commands and Cregan sees Jace's attachment and support from his immediate family, and they both desire something the other has, not fully realizing that they are forced into situations where they could not have both. It's juicy, it's rife with tension, it's the pact of ice and fire, baby.
Anyway, this is all to say...Sara Snow is a metaphor for the feminine vulnerability and yearning these two shared. That she is both a bastard and beloved sister is a combined manifestation of the two men's most deeply held desire — for Cregan, his yearning for close family who has no political claims that will get between their relationship, and for Jace, his need to be acknowledged and accepted as a bastard child.
They trained and hunted and drank together — things regular young men do, but that the crown prince or Lord of Winterfell wouldn't have much opportunity to when one is studying Valyrian/dragonriding while the latter is making sure his paramountcy doesn't go into famine come winter. It's easy to imagine them bonding over the honor and burdens of their stations, their lost childhoods, their grief over losing loved ones, how their uncles who they grew up with betrayed them — just finding so much in common that it allows them to finally lower that meticulously crafted persona they use as their strength and shield.
And you wonder then, have they found someone who sees not as a fearsome wolf or powerful dragon, but just as...a handsome dude who they love to hang out with? Cause that would be sweet, bro, no homo. (But maybe some homo if you're okay with it.)
And the actors just really play into all of that with how they look at each other. Ugh, beautiful.

Firstly thank you so much for your blog. I appreciate your well considered viewpoint and align strongly with your opinions on the current state of the relationship of our favourite couple.
I have been fascinated recently with the different reactions within the fandom to seemingly small events. When I saw the wallpaper on A’s phone I immediately went to a group I’m part of to watch the inevitable meltdown and spiral. As occurs every time a small thing happens there are immediately very different reactions. Those who have always leant to the more negative side of the speculation immediately double down that A and L are still together and it’s absolutely Luke in the photo. From their perspective they are just being realistic and sensible. I firmly believe everybody is entitled to their opinion even if it differs from my own but I don’t believe this view is anymore realistic than mine.
On the other side (which is the side I’m on BTW) L and A have been broken up since at least the Italy birthday trip, the picture is too unclear to confirm anything and even if it is him it tells us nothing about the current state of their relationship.
I’m not really sure what my question is but I guess it’s more an observation about confirmation bias and how we see what we want to see (myself included). From my perspective there is far more to indicate a split than that they still together. I also believe L&N are currently together.
I’ve made a conscious decision to have fun within the fandom. Fun for me is believing the love we saw between L & N is real and they have acted on that. I fully acknowledge that most of what I believe is based on speculation that can be interpreted many different ways. However it is much more fun for me to interpret things in a positive way rather than focussing on the side characters. At the end of the day the only people who know for sure what their relationship status is are L&N and those who actually know them. So why not have fun in our little corner of the internet with the many crumbs N has given us and cheer them on (quietly without being in their personal SM).
Just one final point that has been bothering me is about the Spain photos. For me amidst all this speculation about A being there, palm trees etc there is one thing I’ve never heard mentioned. If she was there and his post was a Latergram why did he take a photo clearly staged to show he was alone. Why would you go on a holiday with your girlfriend and consciously take a photo indicating you’re alone.
Sorry this ended up longer than I thought it would but again thank you for having a space where we can have fun and escape from the realities of the world for a short while.
Thank you Anon, I appreciate it!!
I TRY to keep this space fun and as light hearted as possible.
And I agree, I think if you look at the FULL picture without hyperfixating on one thing, it appears that L/N are likely together atp... I personally think they have probably been together for months by now (but that is just my opinion from what I have seen).

hi! i recently joined the zutara fandom and i've been seeking to read more fics of them! the first one was once around the sun (a famous one) and i'd like to know more about of the most classic zutara fanfics
Hello & welcome to the fandom! Once Around the Sun is one of my favourite fics ever. It’s so beautiful and gets under your skin.
Just a note, in case you're new to fanfic: please leave kudos for the author if you enjoyed their work, or even better, kudos + a comment! Not every popular fic will be your cup of tea, so make sure to check the tags and ratings before reading.
I think “classics” can be a ymmv situation, but a lot of people get into a ship with sorting by kudos on AO3, so I'll go through the ones I've read on page 1 that cover a bunch of different popular premises. S3 forced collaboration? The Color of the Stars by bluenebulae. Arranged political marriage? The Blackfish and the Dragon by ama. Ambassador Katara? such selfish prayers by andromeda3116. Canon divergent post-TSR? i'm still here by owedbetter. Katara-is-captured fic? Sparrowkeet by audreyii_fic. Painted Lady x Blue Spirit? Rumour Has It by FictionIsSocialInquiry. And of course, one of my fave fics of all time, Southern Lights by colourwhirled.
If you sort by favourites/comments on FFN, you'll come across some older-ish fics, like Stormbenders by Fandomme (fab undercover adventure from late s3!), His Majesty Prefers Blue by ShamelessLiar (post-canon), Tempest in a Teacup by akaVertigo (Katara grows up in the FN AU), The Black Games by MrsPettyfer (Hunger Games AU), Enslaved by sharkflip (Zuko is kidnapped and given to Katara), and The Undying Fire by Boogum (a veritable epic!).
That said, there are soooo many amazing fics in this fandom, and some of my favourites don't show up on the first couple of pages on AO3 or FFN if you sort by kudos/faves/reviews. I have a list of my lesser-known faves here, but since I made that post I've read a few more fics that I LOVE, including: akaiiko's they call you refugee (you'll see why), Lykegenia's The Things We Hide (fave Hama & Kya arcs ever), and DariusSobreitus' Annakpok (Iliad-inspired AU). I also didn't include any WIPs on that list, but following WIPs can be really fun, like emletish's hilarious The Worst Prisoner and ShamelessLiar's Call Me Katto AU. So: feel free to explore beyond rec lists and kudos! I found some of my favourite fics just by reading summaries.
Also, we got a whole SLEW of new fics between Zutara Week now and Zutara Big Bang a couple of months ago, which I haven't even begun to dig into (I currently have Wolfstar brainworms so I've been distracted from my Zutara fic hyperfixation). We’re a very spoiled fandom indeed. Happy reading!

Why Possibly Having the Koopalings in the Second Mario Film both Excites and Terrifies Me as a Koopaling Fan for Half my Life..
(Rant)
As the title says, I’ve been a massive fan of the Koopalings for roughly half my life. Many have laughed and called them my muses since I draw them so much. Actually, there are some periods yearly where they’re the only thing I draw nonstop. I’ve made presentations about them, tests about them, whole art projects for them, you get the vibe. They’re my hyperfixation, to say it simply.
My biggest dream for the Koopalings is for Nintendo to give them a strong role that can show off more of their personalities to the masses (Both because I want Nintendo to stop brushing them off as secondary characters, and because I want more people to stop calling them ‘basic no personality characters’ when they’re absolutely not) Sure, the last time they did that it was attached to an absolute flop (AKA: the remake of Bowser’s Inside Story) but Bowser Jr’s Journey is still to this day my favorite game Nintendo has ever made. The thing I want most from Nintendo, is to give me voice acting (I know they have voice acting, but I mean words, not noises)
All of them have at least two or three voice actors that have portrayed them in their lifespan, and only recently in Mario Kart 8 did we ever get the closest thing to a speaking voice. I want them to keep true to certain things (Like making Ludwig German, giving Iggy a higher voice, making Larry sound like a whiny teen, etc..) but I get how that’s a tall order.
Anyway, back to the main topic: The Super Mario Bros. Movie.. Listen, I jumped for joy when I saw Ludwig’s name on that stupid piano (happy Nintendo remembered one of his core personality traits) but in a movie that relied so much on references, why was only one relating to the Koopalings? (Maybe there’s another I don’t know about, but Idk) Ever since then, I’ve been writing possibly theories as to how the sequel will go.. It’s safe to assume that with my pre-existing love of the Koopalings, I always included them in some way. So for the second movie title leaked and being called ‘Super Mario World’ this is huge for me and the Koopaling fandom. We could finally see them in a very important mainstream piece of media!! Unfortunately.. that comes with my concerns..
I don’t want to sound like I’m gatekeeping the Koopalings of all things, but what if new fans come along and possibly taint our image as a community? That’s not that likely, but it’s still a nightmare to think about.. you know what else is a nightmare? Them becoming mainstream and then people’s only information about them comes from the movie!! What if they get misrepresented? What if they don’t do their proper research?? What if people’s reception of them is bad and Nintendo sees that as the final nail in the coffin to stop adding them to games completely!! (I know that’s crazy to think, but it could happen given we haven’t seen them in a while..)
Another concern is definitely for my wallet. Seeing how much merch the first movie got, I am excited for possible new Koopaling art/merch, but given that there’s SEVEN of them and they might have prominent roles.. That just means a massive hole in my wallet that I’m usually spared of because they have little to no merch that’s easy to find in the states. (I know for a fact I’ll want everything with them on it, I just know it) This part’s kinda silly, but I’m still bringing up concerns here.
Maybe I’m just paranoid, there’s likely nothing to worry about, but this all still keeps me up a night. I just hope if they are in the movie, they’ll be nicely represented, well integrated into the story, and still niche when it comes to the Super Mario fandom as a whole.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to rant, more Koopaling art is on the way, I’m done.
(Also thanks if you made it this far)

Heyyy ever
I wanted to know , what's your motivation behind wanting to share your artwork with people?
Because personally, it sometimes ends up feeling pointless and i end up wondering why I'm even doing this
I would love to hear your thoughts on this , it would help a lot!!!!! Thankyou!
sharing draws online is simply a means to find other freaks to match mine own to...... in an indirect and rather distant way lol
until pretty recently, none of my friends were very interested in the same characters/ships/fandoms i liked. i get really tunnel vision about my hyperfixes, so it always feels awkward talking about (whatever subject) TOO much if the other party isn't as into it? drawing instead and sharing is just the default way for me to try to express the silly or serious ideas that have no other outlet.
sharing any creative work can feel weirdly vulnerable, but i think it's always worth it, even if it's just to one other person!! socmed has given all of us numbers anxiety by the nature of the platform, but if you take a step back and think about it, showing something you made to one or five or a dozen people who like it would be such a rarity to happen irl. and YOU made something that didn't exist before, that someone (anywhere in the world!!!) likes and enjoys....!! i mean. that's how i feel every time i look at others' art or fic lol... so even if it's a "flop" by socmed standards or whatever, i think putting it in that perspective is important. even if it's one other person, i don't think it's a waste of effort. that momentary feeling of seeing something you love, shared with someone else...
(also, if you haven't seen it - check out fujimoto's "look back," either the one-shot manga or the movie!! it's SUCH an incredibly moving answer to the question "why do you draw?"; a must-watch for any creatives, especially artists!)

Hi everyone !!!
Thought I'd make an intro post since I'm back on Tumblr after years of having a real life or whatever.
I'm 24, she/her, a lesbian, French (yeah I know everyone has flaws guys), you can call me Eddy but honestly "that one bitch" is fine with me, also I'm an historian irl.
I've been writing fanfic for 10+ years, my main fandoms and ships are:
-Once Upon a Time: (Swanqueen, SleepingWarrior, Redbeauty and many others...) -> honestly my main hyperfixation at the moment
-Buffy the Vampire Slayer: (Spuffy and Cangel forever)
-Lost (2004): (JackxSawyerxKate idk they don't have a ship name)
-Criminal Minds: (Jemily my love)
-The X-Files: (Mulder and Scully have been an obssession since I was like 6)
-Black Sails: (JackxAnne, EleanorxMax) -> this one's pretty niche but yeah it's probably the best show I've ever watched
Idk there are probably others but my brain's broken at the moment.
I also make A LOT of moodboards because I like it!!!! This blog is mainly about sharing little rants and dumb stuff. Also sometimes I post pics of swords I work on in my irl job because they are very cool.
Currently writing on AO3:
A lot of random one-shots about my main ships
A VERY long OUAT medical AU, full of angst, mainly SQ centered, which I often post about under the tag Emergency Time (which is the very dumb name I've given this work)
My ask and DMs are ALWAYS open!!!!
I think that's all for now!!!!
With all my love ❀

The Hyperfixations of Steven Moffat
Tumblr media
Leading up to the Doctor Who Christmas special, I was surprised to see people expressing indifference toward the prospect of new Doctor Who. There were the usual shitbag “Not my Doctor,” homophobes and racists who add nothing but noise to the background radiation of the fandom. But there were also ride-or-die fans expressing disinterest. And it’s not like I don’t get it. The first season of RTD’s return was a bit jank. For me, it was a marked uptick in quality, but it also felt like it was trying a bit too hard. We’re also coming off the tail end of a Hell Yearℱ, and we’re tired. Honestly, I kind of hate anyone whose biggest problem in the world right now is the Superman trailer. But I also recognise the need for escapism. Which is why a Doctor Who Christmas special and Wallace & Gromit double feature was such a welcome reprieve from Hell Yearℱ. That was my Christmas sorted. And you know what? I had a lovely fucking Christmas.
My greatest takeaway from this double feature was that Wallace is a bit of a menace in his own right, and Moffat is a man with hyperfixations. When I say this, I don’t mean it in a judgemental way (except for Wallace, he should take more care), but rather to highlight what I think is Moffat’s main quality as a writer. Recently Moffat disclosed that he has been diagnosed autistic. As a neurospicy individual myself, I appreciate a good hyperfixation. Let this blog be exhibit A. You give an autistic or ADHD person a hyperfixation, and it’s like a dog with a bone. You can see this in the way Moffat writes about time travel. I’ve mentioned it before, but Moffat writes time travel like a young boy who got hyperfixated and couldn’t stop thinking about the implications of time travel.
What are some of Moffat’s hyperfixations as a writer? How about names beginning with “Os”? What about women who look like Elon Musk’s mum if she were a burlesque scientist? Or young people who meet older people and become obsessed with them into adulthood? (I’m not gonna get into it, but it’s weird that it happened three times) While some of Moffat’s preoccupations are distinctly Steven, others are more widely shared. I still remember being nervous around a hobo statue my grandmother had in her basement. I used to run past it as though it were going to spring into life the moment I took my eyes off it. I understand Weeping Angels. Fear of the dark gets us the Vashta Nerada. Steven Moffat is a writer whose fixations are at the centre of his work. And part of that work lands him in hotel rooms where he has plenty of time to lie there and think about the room he’s in.
About a month ago, we were given our first taste of “Joy to the World,” with the opening scene of the Doctor going door to door in various locations attempting to deliver a ham and cheese toastie and a pumpkin spice latte. I don’t usually watch scenes ahead of their time, but the costume geek in me really wanted to see the latest variation on what has become the closest thing we’ll get to a signature look for this Doctor. I loved the butterscotch tones with the wide legged trousers. Such an iconic look. This may be one of my favourite costumes Ncuti has worn thus far. However, beyond a glimpse at the new costume, I was curious to see the Fifteenth Doctor with a different companion from Ruby Sunday. I adored Nicola Coughlan as Clare in Derry Girls, so I had to sneak a peak.
Tumblr media
It was rare in classic Doctor Who for a Doctor to go into a situation with no companions. The Third Doctor was alone before meeting Liz Shaw. The TARDIS engines had hardly cooled between Leela and Romana. There were also the Eighth Doctor and Grace. But for the most part, there was always a companion bridging the exchange. It’s far more common in modern Doctor Who to see the Doctor without a companion at the beginning of a story. These moments interest me because its a chance to see the Doctor’s vulnerability. With no one to impress, the Doctor feels somehow less confident. The Doctor doesn’t always need a companion to remind him when he’s gone too far, but also to remind him to feel love. Here, we see the Doctor still not used to being on his own. He pops into a hotel lobby for a couple cups of coffee before remembering he only needs the one.
Tumblr media
While this is a nice re-introduction to the Doctor’s current emotional state, I was a little disappointed by this being the reason the Doctor was at the Time Hotel in the first place. It’s funny that he steals coffee from hotel lobbies on the reg, but it’s a flimsy device for a story setup. Then again, that is Moffat’s way. During his run on Doctor Who it was always impressed upon us that the TARDIS always took the Doctor where he needed to be. He even reiterates this concept during the Doctor and Anita’s conversation about her sat nav. That’s sort of the Doctor’s whole thing. Go somewhere innocuous on the day when everything went to shit. Henrik’s Department Store operated for years without incident until the Nestine Consciousness showed up and the Doctor had to blow the place up. Besides, how else are you going to draw a guy who time travels and has no need for a home into a time travelling hotel? Those are like the two things he needs the least. So yeah, the Doctor steals coffees like they were TARDISes.
Along with Nicola Coughlan guest starring as Joy, we get an adorable turn from Joel Fry as the charmingly dim Trev Simpkins. While his screentime is minimal, I fell in love with Trev almost immediately. Sadly, Trev wouldn’t be long for this world, but the stars are a completely different story. Having been conscripted by the Doctor to spy on a strange man in the hotel lobby, Trev quickly becomes embroiled in the journey of the mysterious Villengard suitcase by becoming its next host. This is how we’re introduced to Joy Almondo, a young woman staying at the Sandringham Hotel, which is a bit of a flophouse. Once again, we’re reintroduced to another Moffat hyperfixation which is a weird “women be shoppin’” attitude when Joy nervously asks Anita if its obvious that she’s single. I rolled my eyes at that line, and it’s made slightly more egregious when you consider the reason Joy is by herself in this run-down hotel on Christmas Eve. Why would she be thinking of men on the night she’s very clearly mourning the loss of her mum? The brief conversation between her and the fly in her room endears us to her far more than her anxiety about finding a man in this economy.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the Sandringham Hotel proves to be a lot more interesting of a location than the Time Hotel. Which is saying something considering that out of the Time Hotel’s many doors into different periods of time, one of those doors is some kind of Hobbit door. In contrast to the wacky voyeur tourism of the Time Hotel, the Sandringham Hotel was where the emotional core of the story takes place, even if I find Moffat’s conceit about hotels a bit contrived. You see, I can imagine the genesis of this story came from Moffat lying in a hotel room and considering that weird door that won’t open. We’ve all wondered about it. But he loses me a bit with his take on why people stay at such hotels.
Tumblr media
Back in 2016, my friend Gary came and visited me from the states. We planned a trip down to London where he could see Abbey Road and then onto Cardiff for the Doctor Who Experience and up to Liverpool to see John Lennon’s house. It was a bare-bones trip over three days that required some sacrifices in train times and accommodations. We needed a good hotel in London, but what was most important was a place to hang our heads for the evening, so we went with cheap. The hotel we ended up with, we lovingly referred to as the Hotel Mos Eisley because it was a wretched hive of scum and villany. The rooms were numbered with a devil-may-care randomness. At the top of the stairs was a slashed canvas depicting Marilyn Monroe. One of her teeth had been blacked out and a swastika was drawn on her forehead. We had to sleep with toilet paper in our ears for fear of roaches. But we met so many characters in this hotel that we remember it as a fond memory of our trip. We still laugh about it to this day. My point being, sometimes a hotel room is just a means to an end. Also, some people are just poor. It’s not that deep, Steven.
I will however concede that this isn’t lost on Steven Moffat. As I said before, a lot of humanity can be found in the mundane setting of the Sandringham. Spoilers for the Bible if you’ve not read it, but that sentiment is reiterated with the humble manger where Mary gives birth to Jesus at the end of this episode. Furthermore, the Doctor was merely making Joy angry in an attempt to wake her out of whatever control the Villengard briefcase has over her. I had read about a week ago that Moffat wanted to bring the Doctor’s meanness back into the character, something which I have been waiting for since Chibnall decided to make the Doctor constantly stoked on life. I’m not going to go back and count the number of times in this blog where I mentioned wishing they would make Jodie scarier, but it was often. The Doctor is an alien and basically a god, it’s nice to be reminded of that on occasion. Eccleston is a good Doctor, but he became a great Doctor when we saw him lose his shit in “Dalek.” Even if it was being mean to save Joy’s life, it was nice to see the manipulative cosmic being we saw in the Seventh and Eleventh Doctors.
The Doctor is forced to go the long way to save Joy in the future by boot strap paradoxing the briefcase code to himself. I really loved this year the Doctor spends with Anita, working side by side at this hotel. As my friend Taryn quipped, they did more to build the Doctor and Anita’s relationship in one episode than they did Thirteen and Yaz’s relationship in three seasons. But in this relationship, I did find a few holes, and I don’t think I’m alone in suspecting they mean something. By now, you’ve probably seen a theory or two about Anita being Mrs Flood, and I’m right there with you. While she seems perfectly nice, there are some moments when Anita feels like she’s either a woman out of time, or not of this world. She didn’t recognise police boxes, which is sort of fair. I mean, here in Glasgow, they’re everywhere. But they are still a relic. She also didn’t know what Auld Lang Syne meant. Once again, fair dos, not everyone does. But growing up in the UK and not knowing who Guy Fawkes was? Very suspicious.
Tumblr media
The Doctor stays with Anita for an entire year working side by side at the hotel. It gave shades of “The Lodger,” and “The Power of Three,” watching the Doctor stay in one place for an extended period while using his Doctory technology in service of mundane tasks. It was very charming and Christmassy to see the Doctor in this capacity. It only further drove home my belief that Ncuti Gatwa was a shoe-in for the Doctor. However, my internet addled-brain still laughed when they hinged a large portion of the episode’s emotional core around a hotel cuck chair. Moffat is clearly not suffering from the same brain rot as me. It’s Chibnall and VOR (see: vore) all over again. Moffat may have a lot to say about hotel rooms, but so does the internet. Sometimes, the fact that Doctor Who is made by middle aged Doctor Who nerds is entirely apparent. I suppose it’s what makes the show so wonderfully memeable.
Tumblr media
Trev uses the phrase “Everywhere, all at once,” in this epsiode and I can’t help but feel like Doctor Who is dipping its toe into the metaverse. Last season we had a character called Susan Triad who was played by a woman named Susan Twist. Then the characters dance while singing that there is always a twist at the end. If Anita turns out to be Mrs Flood, then we’ll have a woman named Anita Dobson who plays a character named Anita Flood. I’m not saying this is what is happening, but it can’t be lost on RTD. Then again, Moffat did give us Oswin Oswald at the same time we got Osgood and I’ll be damned if it didn’t feel related back then too. One of the recurring theories I see people returning to is that the Doctor is in the Land of Fiction from “The Mindrobber.” Perhaps they have included the Master of the Land into the Pantheon of Gods. If you watched the trailer for season two, you’ll have noticed the large animated character emerging for the theatre screen. It’s either the deepest Eighth Doctor cut ever (Crooked World represent!) or the walls between fiction and reality are bleeding into one another. What will that mean for the Doctor, a fictional character? Doctor Who may be a staple of British culture, but it also exists in a Britain so foreign to modern Britain because it never went through a phase of Dalekmania. None the less, I sense another shakeup on the horizon.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Britains from a foreign reality, how about that COVID-19 representation? I say foreign from reality, because if you were to have watched Doctor Who during the pandemic, you would think that their fictional version of Britain never had to deal with the coronavirus. I’m not going to sit here and call Chibnall gutless for not including the pandemic into the storyline. I imagine it was a choice that required a meeting and they ultimately decided not to address it. If I were to guess, I would imagine they left the pandemic out of the show for two reasons. Firstly, they probably wanted Doctor Who to be a reprieve from death and despair. And secondly, they probably wanted to avoid questions like “Why doesn’t the Doctor just give everyone the cure?” So yeah, they probably did what was best at the time and left it at that. I can appreciate that. I can also appreciate them introducing it to give the Tories a proper bollocking.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen some complaints about Joy’s decrying the Tories as her mother gasped her final breaths in the hospital. Some people (see: idiots) thought it was too political and woke. Which, if that’s your takeaway from this episode, I pity you. If anything, the Tories got off light. I have friends who lost their mums to COVID and I was happy to see the show finally address the very real situation we survived. I’m old enough to have lived through monkey pox outbreaks, bird flu, SARS, and mad cow disease. I never met anyone who got those diseases. I’ve had COVID three times. The pandemic was out of control in a way no living human had seen since the 1920s. Doctor Who has often struggled with finding the correct tone when tackling deep issues. But I feel like they nailed it here. Oddly, it being a Christmas story allows it the proper tone to reflect on holidays spent with late loved ones.
It’s rare when I watch an episode of Doctor Who when my closest network of friends and family who watch Doctor Who are all in agreement as to its quality. Usually one of us has a grievance to air. But everyone in my little circle really enjoyed the episode. This is surprising considering the somewhat cheesy ending with Bethlehem (though I did love the idea that the Time Hotel is why there was no room at the inn for Mary and Joseph). Myself and Taryn, both atheists, weren’t bothered in the slightest. My friend Alice, a Christian, wasn’t bothered by it on any religious grounds. It was a sweet moment afforded by the fact that it’s Christmas. Besides, if Baby Jesus isn’t invited to his birthday party, then maybe they’re doing something wrong. Other than the usual chuckleheads, I’ve not seen many people complaining about this episode. I did see that some people were let down by the lack of Silurians. The Silurian hotel manager, Melnak, had led some to believe that this Christmas special was going to be rife with Silurians. I never got this impression as he seemed like a one-off character. In fact, after watching the second episode preview, I thought it was implied that the Villengard briefcase hologram took the form of the dominant species during dinosaur times. It would appear that we were all wrong. Other than that and some of Moffat’s weird “women be shopping” brand of dialogue, it was a very solid episode of Doctor Who.
Tumblr media
Along with the quiet moments of reflection, the deep connection between the Doctor and Anita, and Joy’s mourning her mother, we even got some exciting action scenes. We got a Jurassic Park style dinosaur with glowy eyes. We even got an exciting train scene. I love watching Ncuti in that flowing coat. He’s like a superhero in his cape atop that train in an ice storm. It was fun to watch him swinging a grappling hook to open the tomb encasing the starseed. But when the Doctor returns, both Joy and the starseed have ascended the stairs to the wild blue yonder above. While I had hoped for a little bit more of a presence of Villengard, I appreciated that this sentient star had more in mind than death and destruction. Villengard was so far from in control of the situation by that point and I loved that. Because, in reality, they’ve always been pathetic and small-time in the Doctor’s world. They acknowledge and appreciate the shared risk all sentient life takes with their actions. They like to think its the same worry people had when they fired up the Hadron Collider, but it’s closer in nature to corporations killing the environment we all depend on. “The Starseed will bloom and the flesh will rise,” wasn’t a threat, but a prelude to Joy’s ascent into the heavens. What’s more is that Trev and the other carriers of the star case will also live on forever in the sky. Leading the wisemen to Jesus and delivering Joy’s mother to the great beyond. If you think this episode didn’t make me cry, you’d be wrong.
Tumblr media
The episode ends, but not before revisiting a couple of familiar faces. We see Ruby waiting by her phone for the Doctor to call, but instead it’s her mum. We can expect to see Ruby again, but probably not right away, which I’m fine with. It will give us time to get to know Varada Sethu as “Belinda Chandra,” a name which excites me on two levels. Is she related to Rani Chandra? And why does she have a different name from Mundy Flynn? Is this an Adeola/Martha cousins thing? Or is an Oswin/Clara different versions of the same person thing? Maybe it’s something more? The important thing is that I’m curious and excited to find out. I expect great things from Doctor Who, and if nothing else, chairs for the TARDIS. The future of Doctor Who feels bright from my perspective, I just wish the rest of the fandom felt the same way. 2025, or Hell Yearℱ 2.0,  is going to be a rough year for a lot of us. Like I said, I understand the need for escapism. You have my permission to feel good about yourself and to enjoy some Doctor Who next year. Fuck the haters. You have value and you deserve to feel joy.
