Red still caught Mewtwo in this au, but it was on Giovanni’s orders. Giovanni considers him too unstable/vengeful to use for anything beyond rotting away in stasis in a lab. Because of that, the kindest fate for Blaine here probably would have been getting shot for trying to leave Rocket.
