Astro Observation #5

Synastry Edition

This is a synastry testimony between my mom and I; as well as my older sister and I.

My mother is a Taurus Rising, I am a scorpio rising. My south node is in Taurus and North Node in Scorpio. Nodal synastry between a parent and child signals a karmic lesson to be learnt. I always felt completely oppositw to my mother, and this opposition to our rising signs validated that. Also, who she is in this lifetime is who I no longer wish to be in this lifetime. Can also signal what I have to teach her.

My moon and sun is in her 2h. There is a lot I have taught her about finances but also about selfworth.

Her sun and moon is in my 6h. There is a lot she has taught me about being of service to others. Ironically though, Ive been the one teaching her about health & fitness.

My mars is in her 1h and my pluto in her 7h, my relationship with her has transform me in soooo many ways. But also witnessing her relationships has transformed in ways I had to heal from. I also feel there was a bit of envy she had towards me.

Her saturn, venus, mercury, and chiron are all in my 6h, again there is soo much sacrifice and serving others Ive seen her do, sometimes to her own detriment. She also taught me how to keep a house.

Her Jupiter is in my 5h and my chiron is in her 11h, I feel she sees me more of a friend she cam have fun with than a daughter tbh. And I feel like she triggers my abandonment wound of belonging because it will be all about her when we are together but my interest or my life doesnt really matter.

My venus is in her 3h, our communication can be lighthearted, sometimes it feels a bit vain. She taught me how to cook though, she is a great cook.

My saturn is in her 11h, I have introduced her to a lot of helpful people. I also hold her to a level of accountability when it comes to being a humanitarian. Sometimes she could be a prejudice towards others.

My mercury is in her 3h she likes to gossip with me lol but again I teach her things, fun little facts esp how to care for herself.

Its interesting to see the synastry I have with my family on 2h themes. My asc, pluto & jupiter are in my sister's 2h. Again, she is someone who could learn about finance and self worth from me but she doesnt choose to. I feel finances is a huge theme on my mom's family line. They are both horrible spenders. My mom has learnt more now than my sister has. I have learnt alot form their financial mistakes. Had some shame around it also.

My sun and moon are in her 9h, where her mars is and I always feel like(she has made comments to) that she envies how far I went education wise versus her. My emotional intelligence is a striking difference to her and when I try to show her that perhaps she can take a different, more moral, righteous approach to things.. its met with aggression. Mars in Gemini energy.

Her sun is in my 5h, we do have fun when its not about things requiring morality or maturity. She is very creative and I admire that.

Her venus is in my 5h, but my Saturn is in my 5h... I feel her approach to treating herself and being able to have fun is one I wish I could do. Even putting herself in the spotlight. Saturn makes me think about consequences of having fun too much.

Her moon is in my 11h, when we were younger we were really close. There was a friendship bond with sisterhood. My chiron is in my 11h though, so as I delve into my shadow work...that divided us as she didnt want to face her shadows. Again that sense of belonging was triggered for me, feeling rejected.

My venus and mercury are in her 10h, she gets a good rep by people knowing her as my sister and even is able to get favors. Also, we look alike.

Her Jupiter is in my 10h and I cant tell you the amount of people Ive met because of her. They be like arent u such and such sister lol. I feel she has benefitted more from my connections than I have from her though.

Her Saturn is in my 3h and like I said previously there is a level that she is held in comparison to because of what I have accomplished. I also feel like I looked up to her in a way that may have put her on a pedestal as my older sis. When we were kids if she wanted one of my toys I would give here so she wouldnt stop playing with me. There was also a phase where my mom told me I was acting like my sister was my mom instead of her. Her NN is also in my 3h but its conj neptune and uranus. Perhaps a generational thing she had to teach me?

Married by Morning. Definitely edits the story a good bit (they all do) but it's one of the sexier~ ones and the only one I have with like, a couple of full color pages. I have no idea why, but they're BEAUTIFUL.

Princess. Does an amazing job of capturing the incredible insanity of Darius and Serafina. Darius's hair is PERFECT. PERFECT. Maybe the hottest design tbh. Also one of the sexier ones! They did Daddy Lazar dirty tho.

Devil in Winter. Manga Sebastian is... pretty much exactly how I imagine Sebastian... So...

Dreaming of You. Beautifully dramatic Derek, love that it's two parts, Sara's design is perfection, the wintery vibes are *chef's kiss*

Scandalous Desires. Ponytail aside, the Mickey design is otherwise flawless, nails the snark, you can feel the like... chemistry? In the art? If that makes sense? Super well. And the baby is adorbs. Also! WINTER IS HERE! SO IS ASA! THEY'RE SEXY! I wish we'd gotten their books. :/

Shadowheart. Absolutely stunniiiiiing design. This has some pretty significant deviations (I mean, not surprised, but it goes beyond what you'd imagine they'd have to edit for Shadowheart) but Allegreto is PERFECT designwise and you get a lot of heavy villain vibes. The manga books are great for villain content.

It Happened One Autumn. Westcliff is constantly SWEATING in this one, which I find personally... hilarious. And accurate. Shockingly, they did NOT edit out the thing Lisa edited out of this book. It's pretty great.

Seduce Me at Sunrise. I mean, I think this manga for sure has its design issues with Cam and Kev, but tbh, they.... mirror Lisa's general issues with Cam and Kev. Love Win's design, love the kidnapping sequence, wish it was a bit sexier like MbM, but tbh it's overall really fun. And the baaaaaby stuff in the end is so cute.

The Leopard Prince. This is probably the most explicit one, and I think it captures Harry Pye's "... Oh.... no......" lust around Georgina really well. Very good.

The Raven Prince. Very much condensed lol, like very, but still gets a good handle on the story. And the Aphrodite's grotto drawing is... priceless

Prince Charming. This one has some real fun designs for the heroine's body (how.... can she possibly pass for a mysterious robber with those things bouncing around). That said, the scene where he pins her to the ground because he thinks she's the masked robber and there's TENSION is SO. PERFECT. FOR A ROMANCE NOVEL.

Wicked Intentions. Lol I love this one in a lot of ways, but I also find Temperance's design... artistically good but distractingly modern. The bangs! Caire's design is fun but not very sexy to me.

The Pirate Prince. I... HAVE.... SO MANY ISSUES.... Allegra looks like a child, it's not great, I'm honestly bummed that such a wild bodice ripper has such a subpar design. And it's kinda insane because Princess and Prince Charming look nOTHING like it.

of course i have to mention the queen herself 😌 bebebo your skills are unparalleled and i love that this is giving me a chance to squee at you once more hehe <3

(tho having to choose my faves was SO difficult!!)

so i want to start with a simpler set: this one. this rich red is so damn stunning and i'm always in awe of your coloring skills and how you manage to make colors look the same in every gif!! (as a gifmaker i know that's hard to achieve) this is the same as i told jagoda, you both have such an excellent way of coloring backgrounds and making it so smooth?? you both have achieved the highest level in frame by frame coloring tbh. i bow to you.

and if i could i'd link all your similar sets you've made because they're all gorgeous. and i hate saying they're simple because there's no blending because they're not actually easy to make?? you make them look effortless though. i admire that so much.

obviously gotta mention this set. the way you used the ripped paper effect is genius. to split two gifs into one and use the older/younger versions?? phew. i'm also in love with this pale green coloring. that first gif is my fave of this set, it's so damn good.

this set has some incredible blending!! seamless triple blends??? i'm on the floor. i love what you did with the text as well, so clever. and that beautiful pink omg, it pops! if i had to pick one fave i think i'd say the first one, i just love the composition.

yet another stunning set is this one. i looooove when you use two colors instead of just one because you always pick such good combos. you really have an eye for it (i know i already told you this but i'll repeat it cause IT'S THE TRUTH). the effects are so cool, the one with all the vinyls is so creative. your fontwork is also exquisite, so many different ones but it still all matches together and vibes.

i love me a good timeline gifset and this one is no different. the blending is superb. gorgeous coloring, it's pale yet they're not looking washed out which is always a struggle lol. looooove the fonts. the fact that in the first gif you triple blend on such a small surface? i have no words. why it doesn't have 10k notes i will never understand.

all your posts for rhaenicent week have been incredible i'll be honest but i can't talk about all of them haha. you've been so productive this year! but yeah this set i think might be my fave of this week? the transitions with the little squares is soooo beautiful and clever. i shall definitely steal it for a set in the future 😂 but your coloring omg?? that blue and purple and white. sooooooo pretty!!!

of course i have to mention this set. i have not mentioned your sense of humor yet which is a shame cause i love your funny sets :D i love the little notes you added hehe, roast him! i'm in love with the bigger font, it's stunning. the blending is once more, unbelievably good.

there's another bridgerton set of yours i loooove. the colors just have me on the floor, they're SO gorgeous. the blending is insane, i especially love the first gif. and then all the fonts omg?? you really let yourself go and i could not love it more!!!! never thought this amount of fonts would look good and yet.

next up: this beauty. the amount of details in this is incredible. the layout is so fun and i love the little logos you added for each episode. the rainbow coloring?? gorgeouuuuuus.

i have a soft spot for this set because it's so innovative. where do you keep finding all those ideas for creative sets truly?? i need to pick your brain!!! i particularly love the 2nd & 4th gifs, the b&w and the shapes and the typography make for an unbelievable ensemble. but honestly all the different effects on this set are so good.

then we got this one. again, it feels like you wanted to try out so many effects and transitions and styles. and i feel like anyone else would've tried this it would look bad, but you make it work!!!! that's the bebebo touch. this soft purple is beautiful but i especially love the fonts on this set i think. the 2nd gif is my fave i think, i love the ripped paper effect and the blending.

and lastly, of course i had to talk about this one you made recently. i cannot imagine how much time it took to make. the silhouette broken in parts and every one has another blended gif??? insane. the broken mirror, the broken heart, all of it matches the vibes so perfectly. i haven't watched this show but i can feel the tragedy of it all you know? this green and purple are such a good match. this is definitely my fave piece of yours this years. showcasing your skills beautifully.

it was a particularly bad year. i stumbled upon their silly videos (thank you stay for the edits<3) and they made me laugh. then i started seeing clips of chans room and him interacting with the boys and just like... he's so wonderful. he's generous and kind and loving and thoughtful. just a shy lil guy who also happens to be a flirt and a fucking dork and it's cute man idk shut upp

who is your bias wrecker?

i was certain i'd never have one, i truly adore each of those boys so so much.

i was however proven wrong after a very sweet, silly compilation of binnie being ridiculous. followed by a face cam of his sclass performance in the supreme jersey?? and the curls?? he has such amazing stage presence and he's a great dancer. but he kept going from his cute sweet binnie expressions looking like he was just so into it and having fun, to the "dark rapper" eyes and commanding stage presence. and like, wow. 🖤 i am a sucker for that kind of duality.

but then i was just on my usual 6 hour yt shorts binge as i tried to fall asleep and saw skz reacting to the "your eyes" mv, specifically felix's part, obviously. i watched it like 12 times just cry laughing at han screaming, hyunjin trying to escape, channie hiding behind his hands and squealing. it was just so funny to see a group kind of clowning their own shit? i thought they were hilarious.

then i saw julien (solomita) had reacted to 'topline' and i was soooo into it. immediately went to watch some mvs and decided cool i'll be a totally normal casual fan of this group’s music….. :)

THEN a lovely lady i'd followed on my 10 year old tumblr account posted about skz. i messaged her that I’d finally decided to check them out and she was kind enough to answer questions and entertain my onslaught of messages as I screamed about how much I love these boys. and she still does everyday so. thank you hana 🌸

This is a sort of weird one, cause all my published writing is a few years old at least, and I don’t want to link anything or reference it too much because I find it kind of cringe haha! I started writing again after a long break a few years ago, so it all reads as very rusty to me.

I’ve been writing and not publishing for a little while though… although none of it is finished or even that coherent yet. (Yet. Watch this space?)

Don’t really want to list them bc abandoned account/few years old etc, but the top one is apparently at 534 now, which is quite nice I think.

What fandoms do you write for?

I’ve written for loads, but now I want to follow my dreams and focus on asoiaf- I’ve only ever published one super short fic for it despite loving it for so long. I think it’s just intimidated me because I’ve loved it for so long, honestly.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Absolutely! It’s so great to be able to engage with people who enjoyed your stuff! I always love it when an author replies to my comments <3

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Honestly, probably the current thramsay angst in my docs atm. It’s nothing insanely angsty, but still more bleak than my past stuff because… well, it’s thramsay.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I’ve written a few sweet soft fluff pieces for friends, so those I guess? My endings tend to be the characters stewing in misery/shame/apathy etc as opposed to riding off into the sunset.

Do you get hate on fics?

I think I got some once, but it was super mild. Just someone complaining about stuff that was very clearly tagged. Like, that’s on you if you don’t like it, buddy.

Do you write smut?

Pretty much exclusively unethical and miserable smut.

Do you write crossovers?

I’ve done a few crack crossovers in my time, but never anything serious, they’re not really my thing.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I did once read a fic that was clearly very heavily inspired by one of mine, including the same phrasing on niche plot points, but nothing outright stolen. Never said anything about it though, and tbh I wouldn’t unless they had literally copied and pasted my fic!

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yeah, I had one translated- it was Spanish and don’t know any Spanish, so I have no idea if it’s faithful to the og though lmao.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Yep, I’ve done a few.

What's your all time favorite ship?

Thramsay, hands down. They’ve lived in my head rent free for about nine years now, but I haven’t published fic for them.

What's the wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Not fic related, but I’ve got a few TTRPG adventure wips. I really want to release them one day, but considering I’m the sole writer/illustrator/graphic designer/etc then I doubt it will be any time soon- plus, I’d have to playtest them and edit all over again based off that. I still live in hope they’ll get done instead of sitting in perpetual limbo, though!

What are your writing strengths?

Always writing for myself instead of trying to write something that people will like- I think that’s really important!

What are your writing weaknesses?

Never writing anything in order/planning. It drives me absolutely insane and makes everything take forever because I’m chasing threads around, but I can’t seem to do it any other way. Also multichaptered fics, I get part way through and move on to something else.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

I’ve never had the need to, but I guess if you know the language you’re writing in and it makes sense in the story, go for it? Although I prefer if people put a translation in the notes so I don’t have to google translate and end up with a poor imitation of what was actually written.

First fandom you wrote for?

Probably Lord of the Rings or Merlin? This would have been back in 2012, on a fanfiction.net account that was thankfully lost to time. Bless past Salt and his enthusiasm for writing, but you could not pay me to reread it.

Favorite fic you've ever written?

I have an unfinished draft lying around somewhere based on Crash… it was a while ago, and could definitely be better, but it was so much fun and I’d love to revisit the idea again. If we’re talking published, then I wrote a gun-focused fic that I still think is decent. Loaded guns ended up in places they should absolutely not be, obviously.

Happy STS! What's your outlining process like? What outline structure do you use? Do you use any specific apps or programs? What part do you find the hardest? What part is your favorite? If you don't outline, what does your pre-writing prep look like?

morri i love you for asking this question, i love outlining a lot!!

i don't follow any specific structure, and every book is a little different, but the basic process is the same and it's bullet points forever. this happens then this happens, very often nesting bullet points of dialogue i've come up with, and notes to myself about things i definitely won't forget i needed to do before i got to this point

first thing though is usually writing down all the things I know about the book/story, all the things I want in it (usually as bullet points also). then i start figuring out what order things should happen in, and at this stage if it's a book I'll start roughing out chapters. if it's a oneshot i'll break things into scenes if it needs it.

my favourite part of outlining is just the brainstorming of it all. i can throw ideas out and then if they don't work i can really quickly try something else - i get to play with multiple versions of the story in quick succession, and problem-solving is soooo much fun

the hardest part is the outline take 2, which happens when i'm book writing and it's when i come to read the outline ready to write and find out that it is not, in fact, an outline, but a collection of vibes and stupid jokes and i need to go in and put useful shit in this thing before i can actually use it. past me thinks they're very funny. present me would occasionally like to strangle them.

as for programs, i just use Obsidian at this point (as if half the people reading this don't already know that lol). the process is the same whichever program i use, tbh, though i've toyed with adding a time-line app to my process. i haven't yet, mainly because i haven't found a free one that does what i want in a way that's useful and not just procrastination.

and that's pretty much it! i don't use anything like three-act structure or snowflake or methods like that because i've tried similar in the past, and i end up trying to make the story fit the outline, and it just kills any enthusiasm i had. i look for story structure when i've got a draft to edit and THEN i get to play around with my little kanban scene boards which is very satisfying to do.

this is such a tough one, but half of @volturialice’s comments on call of the night made me laugh so hard that I befriended and then hung out with her. and fast forward five years she has clowned her way into my heart ~irrevocably~ 🥰❤️

ALL THE TIME ARE YOU JOKING??? most recently I’ve been getting a lot of comments from people telling me about how my version of maria in roots is turning them into maria stans, and every time that happens I twirl my hair and kick my feet like a lovesick idiot 🤩

also a lot of people have left comments on call of the night (and walk in the dark) to tell me about how they binge-read it over a day or two and those are always my favorite because it means I derailed someone’s sleep schedule for at least one night and that delights me every time. but here’s a pair of comments I think of regularly:

this is suchhhhhh a hard one so I’m gonna be a cheating little cheat and answer it in three parts. because my personal favorite fic of mine (not the best, per se, but my number 1) is north star. tbh, that fic should have been much trickier to write (empath alice and psychic jasper? how do you even attempt to successfully jam that into canon!verse?) so i’m very proud of myself for cranking it out over the time span that I did. that was the first fic I ever gave to my wife to look-over and make lil edits to, which is something that I had never once done before with any of my writing EVER.

then or course you’ve got call of the night, and just about everyone has heard the story about that fic, but I really am soooo proud of myself for finishing it! 16/17 year old baby shan would have been sooooo happy to know that it was lovingly completed (technically speaking) in my 20s!

but I think I have to nominate roots for ‘fic i’m most proud of’ just due to the sheer size of this project. and maybe it’s that Current Fic Bias talking (since it’s the only fic of mine being updated/worked on rn) but I really did daydream, outline, and draft an entire 200k word fic with multiple alternating povs and so many moving parts that my even readers are making timelines to make sure they don’t miss anything. that’s so cool for me! that’s so fun! roots has swamped my brain for a year and a half, I’ve put my whole pussy into it, and not to sound like a broken record but shoutout to my wife @volturialice for basically being my editor. the fact that she hasn’t killed me for not knowing the difference between “its” and “it’s” or divorced me for my fixation on unnecessary scene blocking isssss miraculous 🥴

june/july/august all together because i read one (1) book in july

The Courage to be Disliked (Fumitake Koga, Ichiro Kishimi): Read this because my friend who is studying to be a therapist told me I should (rip). It was fine? Interesting enough that I finished it, but I fundamentally disagree with some of the main arguments. It didn't ~change me or how I think and hasn't been that memorable since.

The Winner (Teddy Wayne): Technically a thriller. I read this in one night and expected a completely different book, but it was a really easy read and I mostly enjoyed it. The class discussions felt very simplistic and were made Obvious and I don't think I was as charmed by the main guy at the beginning as I was meant to be, but it was a good time.

Private Rites (Julia Armfield): Julia...I am so sorry. Her writing is still so good but I think I just do not enjoy the same things she enjoys at all and I do not really care for horror or whatever this was. Our Wives had a stronger undertone of ~romance which made me like it a lot more than this one. Maybe my issue is that I have a brother and no sisters but I don't know. The concept itself was interesting and I mostly have petty complaints about it (I could not tell the two sisters with names that started with i apart for the life of me, the king lear marketing really threw me off because it admittedly had NOTHING to do with the story) so it is definitely a Not For Me but Good Book kind of thing.

Hot Summer (Elle Everhart): I loved this one a LOT more than I expected. I liked the side characters a lot more than I normally do in romance novels and the main romance was cute. The idea summer read.

Any Person Is The Only Self (Elisa Gabbert): The first half of this was really interesting and I loved the essays that were about books/writing but the end just fell off for me. It really did feel like reading a slightly edited diary.

Wish You Weren't Here (Erin Baldlwin): I normally hate YA but this was so cute. Even the epilogue worked for me which is unheard of.

Summer Romance (Annabel Monaghan): The writing annoyed me for the first 50 pages until I got used to it. Very much a brain-off, cheesy romance which is exactly what I wanted to read to distract me from exams. Weirdly had SO much about hamburgers? I swear it's what they ate for at least 75% of their meals. And this quote was so baffling to me, "Theo always smells like cheeseburgers, which I think is the only way to improve the smell of a baby." Ok tbh this charmed me. It is still funny to me to read books where the male love interest is basically perfect but it's chill. Found it kind of weird that she dates her best friend's younger brother but it's a weird non-issue that's also an issue? Like I guess...it's chill because everyone is like damn...get married 5 minutes into their relationship but the sister felt so underutilized even though I understand the reason for the set up.

Same Time Next Summer (Annabel Monaghan): Third book of hers I've read and I'm now convinced that every character is the same. Definitely my least favourite one but mostly because I really don't like then/now timelines and going back and forth. I have no interest in reading about teenagers in love at this point. A very mind-numbing read which is what I wanted in between exams and I probably will still read whatever she publishes because it takes two days and is fun enough to keep going. The pacing was really weird and felt rushed but dragging so I don't know about that.

The Neighbor Favor (Kristina Forest): Email romance!!! Overall cute but felt very chaotic timeline wise. The intentions/feelings of both main characters were soooo neatly explained and a lot of it felt repetitive. I read the first 70% on the plane and then finished last night and felt like I skimmed a lot of the end.

Stag Dance (Torrey Peters): Not...vibing with this at all so far but because it's somehow novellas and a novel, I am really hoping this first big is a novella and is over soon

We Could Be Rats (Emily Austin): Also scared to read this but I do think her writing style makes it so easy to get lost in it so I'm hoping to get through a decent amount of it on the plane tomorrow

12 Bytes (Jeanette Winterson): I really like the way she writes and I am worried that the book is going to misunderstand or not go into enough depth of AI etc but it's been interesting so far.

I am mostly looking forward to the new Sally Rooney and am still trying to find any romance novels I like because the new semester + back to full time work is going to stress me out too much to think properly.

i am guilty of not remembering muchhh bc of my short term memory 🤓🤠 so i skimmed the previous chapter and was refreshed hehe ANYWAYS wow it really has been a while since the last chapter but while reading blooming and starting palette,,, i felt this sense of familiarity with them and it's hard to describe but it's so good!!! It's like fav dramas/series/books that even when you forgot some details or a lot 😅 u have this instant bond/happiness and u still have these amazing feelings for the characters and the story!!! I'm not sure if ur getting me Rid aha it's the yapper in me but i guess the tldr is that i felt that "WE ARE SOOOO BACK MY BESTIES" like i REALLY felt it lol. And i was really happy to read cmi again ❤️‍🩹

While I do agree with others that this is also my new favorite chapter,,,,, I think that's also not true for me??? bc every chapter is my fav!!! It's really really really literally the whole story since then and everything u write is a favorite 💜

Aside from all the fluff that i loveeee, so much love for this chapter which included their friends and in a trip setting bc it's so wholesome and in relationships esp if ur the type to always go out with friends, it's fun to see everyone getting together 🫶🏼

I recently got ahold of Billie Eilish’s third perfume & omgggg……… I love the first one so much (it smells like a toasted marshmallow lol), & my sister and I split this second one as a blind buy & it’s so good I’m sad it’s limited edition! It smells the way I imagine Lonan would smell LOL, so kind of peppery & warm. It’s my favourite scent rn.

Summer. I hate the extreme heat and the bugs and the sweating but I love the long daylight hours. It used to be fall but I just don’t like the cold lol. Late August-mid September is probably my favourite time of year (or May-June in Toronto if it’s not freezing cold like it can be).

I’ve learned a couple songs on the loop pedal lately which has been fun. That thing takes a lot of dexterity to master so I think I’m finally getting it!!!
