Since Starlight Express (my beloved) is getting a revival, it is very important to me as an American that it flops for being too weird. It has to be off putting to boring people. Apparently it is also going to be updated for modern audiences. This is everything I would do to make it so weird it flops in no particular order.
- Trains have Bluetooth connection instead of being coupled. CB kills with an EMP. This is Cool and Modernized.
- Skate insurance is too expensive, actors must run around as fast as they can
- One new character: a car that is suspiciously similar to Lightning McQueen.
- Alt: CB is reworked into a semi truck. He rides a skateboard.
- Nuclear fission powered Rusty
- The moving seats just vibrate
- Make the bizarre spirituality even more prominent. Raise more questions about how this world works. Answer none of them.
- make it clear that Rusty is literally train God/Jesus. Crucify him.
- unnecessary turntable in every song
- The internationals are reworked into something today’s youth can relate to: tiktok aesthetics
- Woke Greaseball x Tradwife Dinah
- Pearl is an influencer car for selfie taking
- Pearl has a new personality. She is the coach car version of Bad Cinderella.
- guest appearance from Skimbleshanks. An actor has to get into full Cats costume to make a one minute appearance
- roller derby segment. No more racing, just an all out slug fest. (this is not how derby actually works lol)
- maximize tiktok integration. Anything that can have a meme should definitely have a meme, regardless of if it works or not.

Stop looking for a villain. The tragic and devastating wildfires in Southern California result from multiple issues, all of which must be addressed as Californians rebuild and, hopefully, return to a better way of life than the one that is being lost. The recipe for disaster goes like this: Take a geographic region that is arid, prone to droughts, and naturally susceptible to wildfires. Accelerate the problem with climate change. Then, reduce your firefighting and forestry resilience budget by $100 million (Source: CBS and Newsweek). Add to this poor land-use policies and other inadequate public measures, such as vegetation management restrictions, coupled with economic pressures.
California is a wealthy state. The revenues collected by state and local governments are substantial, but they are not being used efficiently. This mismanagement exacerbates the challenges posed by these disasters.
Unfortunately, the current public discourse—rife with memes and partisan sloganeering—only serves to deepen divisions rather than foster the cooperation needed to help those whose lives have been upended. This is particularly harmful to the most vulnerable, who lack the financial resources to recover adequately.
Instead of assigning blame or fueling partisanship, let’s focus on how we can make a difference. Consider donating to or volunteering with the relief charities and agencies actively assisting those in need. These organizations include the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, The Salvation Army, Direct Relief, the California Fire Foundation, Heart to Heart International, and others currently on the ground or en route. The problem is I think the people who run networks still think of British television, and comedy especially, as still being Masterpiece theatre and Monty Python. In their heads, the medium hasn't evolved since 1972. Meanwhile, they've become the physical embodiment of the "feeding a goldfish cracker to a medieval peasant" meme. If they actually bothered to look at anything Channel 4 or the BBC were actually putting out today with any more discernment than what it might take to sell ads on it, they'd realise what they've thrown out.
When I was watching Ghosts, the download I got actually wound up being super messed up, and half the episodes were the US version. I didn't notice it until I'd already started watching it. The change in quality was massively jarring. Our one was filmed on a set, where the UK one is on location, and that little change makes a world of difference in the immersion. It looked like a school play, all over-acted with every square inch of the set lit up unnaturally so you don't miss a single detail of set decoration. Which is funny, because I'd seen ads for the US version and thought it looked interesting, but as soon as I'd heard it was a remake of a British show, I was like, oh fuck that. I'm watching the real one. And yep. Totally validated, because ours is not good.
But apparently with the strikes over here, CBS have thrown their hands in the air and have decided to air the original BBC version in place of the next season, so that'll be nice.

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about whether or not the media has our best interests at heart, and with more and more men awakening from the feminist matrix, it seems that the mainstream media is going the way of the dinosaur.
Donald Trump has been urging the public not to trust the mainstream media, but I’m sure that if you’re a reader of Return Of Kings, you don’t need him to tell you that. The modern mainstream media is basically the same thing as the Church was in the 1200’s—they control the flow of information, and they don’t like it when people disagree with them. In fact, if someone who disagrees with them gets popular enough, they often times resort to smear campaigns (see: smearing Roosh as a manipulative pickup artist, and Milo as a pedophile apologist).
Now, I know what you’re thinking—“I know the media doesn’t report on things, Jon, but fake news? That’s, like, intentionally lying and manipulating information, isn’t it?” Yes, sir, it is—and this is what the mainstream media, particularly CNN, has been doing ever since television became popular.
Here’s 5 examples of how CNN is, in fact, “fake news”:
1. Kicking Bernie Sanders Off-Air

Bernie Sanders, the unofficial leader of the socialist movement in America, recently called CNN “fake news,” before being kicked off the air. CNN tried to play this off as a “connection issue,” but anyone with a grain of common sense knows better.
Bernie: “…who is the head of Russia, and now we’re learning that there may have been discussions between Flynn and the Russians, about sanctions, before this administration took power. So this is very, very troubling, and I think the president is going to have to tell us what he’s gonna do about it.”
CNN Anchor: “So far he hasn’t said much…he was asked about Flynn on his flight to Mar-a-Lago late today…here’s how he responded:
[plays clip of Donald Trump denying obvious lie directed towards him]
CNN Anchor: “He says he hasn’t seen any of these reports. Is that a problem?”
Bernie: “Well, I don’t know, maybe he was watching CNN Fake News, what do you think?”
Bernie: [sees her offended look] “It was a joke.”
CNN Anchor: “You don’t buy what he said, obviously?”
Bernie: “Erin?”
Bernie: “Kevin, I’m not—are we on?”
CNN Anchor: “Umm, it looks like we’ve lost connection with Senator Sanders…”
Right, of course. You just happened to “lose connection,” with Senator Sanders conveniently right after he called you fake news.
2. “Racism” Is Why Adele Won Grammy

After Adele won the song of the year, record of the year, and best solo pop performance awards, it wasn’t long before CNN charged in to proclaim that “racism,” was the cause. CNN “reports”:
…”but with its racial themes and imagery, some are questioning if the project was “just too black” for Grammy voters. Kevin Powell, author of the memoir “The Education of Kevin Powell” and a forthcoming biography on rapper Tupac Shakur, thinks so. He told CNN “Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ made a lot of people uncomfortable, because it is so political, so spiritual, so unapologetically black, and so brutally honest about love, self-love, trust, betrayal.”
Right, because apparently Beyonce, despite being nominated for 62 Grammy awards, and winning a whopping 22 Grammy awards, is being discriminated against. In the Leftist’s delusional reality, any time a white person succeeds, it’s due to “racism,” yet any time a black person succeeds, it’s due to “overcoming insurmountable odds.”
Give me a break. Adele won the Grammy, because the panel thought her songs were better, period. This has nothing to do with racism, but apparently CNN still thinks it’s a good idea to race-bait the hell out of current events in 2017. I don’t see this changing anytime soon, either.
3. Venezuela Bans CNN For Lies

According to Fox News World, the president of Venezuela actually asked CNN to leave:
“CNN, do not get into the affairs of Venezuelans. I want CNN well away from here—outside of Venezuela. Do not put your nose in Venezuela.” -Nicolas Maduro
…and can you blame him? CNN has repeatedly shown how ridiculously biased they are, and they’ve shown how willing to lie they are, for the past year after running a gigantic smear campaign against Donald Trump.
Didn’t CNN claim that The Donald had a 3% chance of being elected president? What did they do, just poll the gender studies department at UC Berkeley? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, because nobody in their right mind would ever accidentally come to the conclusion that our current president had a 3% chance of winning.
In fact, other independent journalists such as Mike Cernovich actually predicted that Donald would win months before the election day in November—how? Because they saw the trends. They saw that men were tired of being emasculated and having their lives ruined, they saw that we’re tired of being shamed for our whiteness, and they saw that the people of America were starting to wake up from their NWO conditioning.
4. “Our Job Is To Control Exactly What People Think.”

Yeah, yeah—I know this one isn’t CNN, but they’re all the same to me. MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and even Fox News to an extent…they’re all just different heads on the same globalist-controlled hydra. Buckle in though, boys, because this one’s pretty bad…and it just happened days ago.
Mika Brzezinski, whose name should automatically create suspicion in the wary citizen, recently stated on MSNBC that it’s “our job,” to “control exactly what people think.” I honestly couldn’t even make this stuff up, but if you don’t believe me, you can watch it in the video above.
Mika Brzezinski: “Well, I think the dangerous edges here are that he’s trying to undermine the media, trying to make up his own facts, and it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he could control exactly what people think…and that is our job.”
No, Mika, that isn’t your job. Your job is to report the facts and let THE PEOPLE decide what to think, but if you can’t get that through your thick skull I guess we’ll just stop watching your crappy network.
5. Donald Trump Calls CNN “Fake News”

Ah, I saved the best for last—I do love me some Donald burns. After a CNN “news reporter” tried to aggressively ask Donald a question for some odd 20 seconds, repeatedly interrupting him and interjecting his way into the conversation, Donald lost it and called him “fake news.”
And who could blame him? They spent the last 8 months doing absolutely everything within their power to completely ruin Donald Trump’s chances at winning…and yet, by the grace of God, and by the memes of Pepe, lord of Keks, the Trump train smashed its way through the entire god damn establishment…and won.
Trump: [to other reporter] “Go ahead.”
CNN Fake News: “MR. PRESIDENT SINCE YOU’RE ATTACKING US CAN YOU GIVE US A QUESTION!”
Trump: [to CNN] “No.”
Trump: [to other reporter]: “Go ahead.”
CNN Fake News: “MR. PRESIDENT ELECT! MR. PRESIDENT ELECT! SINCE YOU ARE ATTACKING OUR NEWS ORGANIZATION,”

If the President of the United States of America thinks that CNN is fake news, I think they’re probably fake news.
Summary
In conclusion, if you still watch the mainstream media, don’t. Get your news from real news sites, like Return Of Kings, Info Wars, Gateway Pundit, Drudge Report, and Cernovich. The MSM has shown us multiple times in the past that they’re globalist whores, selling out the American public to fatten their own pockets.
I recently bought an Info Wars shirt to start wearing around in public, and the results have restored my faith in America. Everywhere I wear it, I’ve gotten complements—it’s not that often, but you’d be surprised how many men are awake, but just don’t broadcast it.
The MSM would have you believe that 99% of the American public hates Trump, but it’s really only something like 10% who hate him, and maybe 25% more who dislike him.

Journalists are supposed to follow a set of rules and values called deontology. These rules say journalists should strive to be impartial, objective, and to inform their readers. We know well this is not the true nature of their activity.
Most MSM journalists today if not all are spinsters. They cherry-pick their facts and craft narratives around to steer people towards an untold yet ever-present agenda. They make up stereotypes while attacking other stereotypes, they make up ideas while attacking other ideas, as it suits the editorial line of their employer.
In the name of information, journalists create and fulfill an artificially constructed consciousness. They are paid to do so. They believe what they’re doing is normal or cool, just like the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s 1984, where officers burn archives then forget they just destroyed records (soon to be rewritten); your average leftist journalist spins all the time, follows all the time, yet doesn’t even know he spins and follows.

A little bit of history
If you lend an ear to leftist historians, up to perhaps to age of discoveries, the West didn’t know much. Everybody were locked into their own towns and fields. Well, this is not true. Europeans had known about the Silk Road from time immemorial. Kings and the clergy had their messengers, their events, their gatherings. Individuals like Saint Bernard or Saint Thomas of Aquino were quite familiar with communicating at a distance.
It was just much slower than today—and quite of a luxury as well. Common folk had to rely on minstrels, travelers, and on their own travels. Most communication was done orally. Academics today love to point out how unreliable the bush telegraph is, but at least this communication is done naturally between common people rather than top-down from a shadowy agenda.
Also, as slow as this word-to-mouth communication was, people then did not need more: they could make a living on their own, with the insurance that they could consume it themselves or sell it. Markets tended to be stable, and whether you were a field-tiller or a craftsman, you didn’t need to know about the latest fad not to be left behind. People were also much less bored and in need of diversions. Didn’t have newspapers, didn’t need them.
Then came the printing press. What had been done by scribes secluded in monasteries became partly automatized and multiplied. Bibles were printed. Then pamphlets. By the time, Protestantism had well developed, clever princes tried to use it to their advantage, and the Catholic church counter-attacked by launching one of the most manipulative orders ever created.
More power to independent people meant chaos. Printing outside of the rigid hierarchy of the Church meant a never-ending contest of ideas, systems, tastes, experiences, and egos. The hypocritical journalists of now who chide “trolls” while sniffing their own written farts should remember that trolling appeared as a side-effect of the printing press, as it became possible to say anything remotely instead of being necessarily confrontable. Plus, trolling helps to think of things to talk about with a girl.
Nevertheless, printing what you wanted was not that simple. First, literacy was still the hallmark of a comfortable upbringing, and second, you had to be able to print. You had to know a printer, had to make a deal with him and pay him. Not to mention the dissemination of your lovely printed book. It was always possible to print in a country with virtually no censorship, then smuggle books, but who was to receive them and share them?
No matter what you had to say, you always needed to address a noble-bourgeois audience, which meant catering to fashionable topics or debates. Otherwise, your material would be simply ignored. Authors who weren’t too well-known had to rely on booksellers who conspired to arrange a discrete monopoly on over-the-counter books. Yep, the world of “culture” has always been murky, and its members believe this is a sign of their superior intelligence.
As “culture” developed, with its train of noise, untold rivalries and social parasitism, periodic journals were printed at an ever-faster pace. Eighteenth century bi-annuals were replaced by daily or weekly newspapers. Which meant a great need, not for amateur gentlemen, but for people who could write constantly. Such people would be called journalists.
The modern journalist plant

If you believe journalism is about informing the public, forget it immediately. There is no such thing as an automatic progress which just makes happen what seems desirable. If an unbiased, all-objective information seems desirable, that does not mean someone will pay for it or even manage to get it. Even the CIA Factbook was made in the first place because objective information would benefit the CIA itself, not “enlighten the masses” or whatever a leftist salesman would say.
A journalist is basically someone who is paid to write on particular issues, in a well-defined format, as his boss sees fit. A journal belongs to someone—no matter if the owner is public or private—who usually has its own aims. Whether the newspaper has to simply sell or shape the opinion, it always aims at something else than merely informing.
(Even ROK has an agenda, and I’m fine with it, because I believe it is sound and fair, but I’d never pretend I write for the sole love of truth or as if I was a disembodied soul with no consciousness of its own. Any writer having such pretenses is a hypocrite or a liar.)

Back to the nineteenth century. Newspapers were just like factories. As plant workers had to churn tangible products, journalists had to churn out impressions. They were like paid artists for the ephemeral, creating appearances that would sell, or satisfy, or infuriate—anything as long as it suited the editorial line of their employer. Journalists did not become whores. They were paid employees, to put it politely, from day one. But at least the blue collar workers had to pretense to say the truth or illuminate or whatever BS that sells.
Let’s say you were born with a high verbal IQ, a knack for writing, and some ideas. What could you do? You may consider writing books, become an intellectual, but book writing takes time and often doesn’t pay. If you can’t live like an annuitant, you must be an employee.
If you choose the written words, you have to conform to a preexisting editorial line, to a particular milieu that already existed before you did, in hope of being granted a job. Creating a journal demanded not only experience but capital as well. Can you pay a printer? Would a banker trust you if you asked him for a loan so you can start a journal?
As the nineteenth century was an epoch of exceptional growth, some people had this capital or trust, and many independent journals were formed. Many, though, were bought off, or chased away, or censored. The elite does not want you to become an influencer, unless, of course, you remain a perpetual servant of their agenda.
This is why mild conservatives are accepted as a stooge opposition, along with the alt lite, whereas those who really want to save civilization and its creators are reviled. The elites want to destroy civilization, so, their journalists, who all depend on them socially and financially, foster their agenda while lying to themselves on the nature of what they do.

So-called investigators are paid by Darth Soros to “investigate” on convenient targets while turning a blind eye on other things, like mass immigration, or upholding a mandatory narrative which rests not on truth but on pure social conformism—muh minorities r always good, muh white males r always wrong.
Perhaps the “fake news” offensive has been crafted, not only to maintain the masses into the blue pill matrix, but also to reassure the frail employees that they are serving truth and progress. Which is already dubious, as worshiping an arbitrary strand of “progress” has nothing to do with objectivity, just as the contemporary humanities are rather a Hollywood for nerds than a place of real knowledge, but you can’t ask vapid girls to get to this level.
No one writes for the sake of truth alone. Independent writers or journalists also speak of what they think relevant. They will mention XYZ facts because these are important, or, at least, ensure a modicum of success. Just like men tend to read Miyamoto Musashi quotes, not merely because he existed, but because he’s interesting.
Mainstream journalists are courtiers. They are paid by global elites to do their bidding. They work in cities just like filmmakers work in grand obscure studios—because their activity lies in creating perceptions, in shaping fashions, ideas, mottos, norms. The difference between a marketer, a journalist and a filmmaker is only of scale and means. The aim, and the bottom, is the same.
We are different, because we are bottom-up. When mainstream journalists sold their souls, we are upholding ours. The problem with this is that we’re ill-paid. The globalists and the boomers tend to concentrate all the money, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to witness that the non-mainstream outlets tend to all lack money. Such is the price of independence.
We ought to have our own money elsewhere, and have a lot of independent journalists around, so that autonomous individuals from our side can work or investigate and help masculine men to shape their own consciousness.

I come in peace. I want to have a genuine conversation with anyone who wants to agree or disagree because of well...growth lmao. I’m not going to rant or shade. There’s two things I want to talk about.
1) Why do y’all care so much about this bitch who plays multiple characters (when you niggas do the same. don’t front)
2) Why not take advantage of this thing called a delete button?
First thing’s first. We can’t talk about niggas being sensitive when y’all sensitive y’allselves. It’s just a different type of sensitive. Not the delete and post unfollow but the “I’ma rant in my mentions all day” sensitive. Hate to break it to you but that’s being sensitive. You are responding passionately to someone’s comment on you, your development or you’re expressing how you feel about something. Shit I'm being sensitive rn because I really could've kept my mouth shut but I have feelings about stuff.
Dipping after causing a mess is being sensitive because well, like many pointed out, you caused it and knew what you were doing so don’t post your unfollow after causing a disturbance. Fuck it and move on, tf? You thought exposing IMs, calling someone ugly, saying you’re slap them all of that WOULDN’T cause a problem? People pick out these FCs and go into this with failing muse already after the first week and it doesn’t help when someone wants to randomly slap you or if you’re called ugly. Personally? It’s why we choose the characters because of their resources and development. Same with playing multiple characters. I’ve watched y’all sit and pick out MULTIPLE FCs for new rps but nooooooooooooooooooo let’s blow the sirens for this one girl who’s single handedly bringing down he community right? You’re blaming the downfall on ONE person at this point and it’s laughable because who’s at fault for this shit right now? And don’t say sensitive people because we just spoke about this lmao.
And honestly, if this bitch is that irritating. And you feel it in your core that it’s her. Just tell them straight up. I've done it. I get word that it’s most likely them, they do some funny shit and I dead it. Open our plot, cut off connections. Nope. It’s just not me and with the stories I can’t be bothered with he mess. It’s that easy. you literally have the power at your finger tips to better this community by deleting anons, blocking the bitches you can’t trust and just simply telling someone no. But you guys choose to entertain anons or the people in your IMs asking for smut then go to WC and complain. Your next IM shouldn't be sliding into the pussy or on the dick but should be “I'm good luv, enjoy” they’ll get the message. If not, use your words and say you don’t want to. In conclusion, I feel like we all play a part in how this community is right now. It’s not just one bitch, it’s not just a group of people. It’s not the sensitivity. It’s everyone. It was me at one point trail blazing through the tags. I owned up to it. But I really just chill and rock with something until it dies. There’s a person that hates this blog, I know they hate this blog because we butted heads and turns out they’re my favorite person I’ve ever got the chance to plot and connect with. And I wanted to tell them I was the blog but it just goes to show shit can run smoothly even when people have different opinions. I don’t agree with alot of shit but ranting, anons and all of that won’t do anything. It’ll just leave a bad taste in the tag.

Here are the rules: I have to answer 13 questions she gave me; then I have to write up 13 questions for the next guy. My answers are under the cut. The preceding post is here. My own set of questions, including tags, will be included in a separate post.
Answers: 1. favorite ship? I’m generally uninterested in shipping. But Sans x Toriel is pretty good stuff.
2.all time favorite character? Two-way tie between Nitrus Brio and the Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale.
Arthur Dimmesdale is one of, if not the biggest moron in Western literature. And everything he does is exactly what I would do in his situation. I am my own type.
I initially wasn’t too big on N. Brio, but floralflesh’s passion is infectious. Brio gives no fucks. He turns rodents into rocket scientists as a casual flex of his scientific prowess. Gets tired of it, turns himself into the Hulk instead. Quits his job, rigs half the island with explosives and blows up his former boss’s property. Inadvertently releases an ancient malevolent spirit to wreak havoc upon the earth and says, “wow, that sounds like it’s not my problem”. Then he vanishes. I respect that. Live your best life, man.

There’s so many characters I like that I’m probably not going to settle for one. Most probably I’m going to cycle between Crash, N. Gin, Pinstripe Potoroo and Komodo Joe. Also N. Brio and Spyro, if they make it in and I can afford them.
7. do u like waffles? Do you like pancakes? Do you like french toast? Dee dee dee-dee...
8. whats your favorite fandom? My brain’s all worked up over Crash Bandicoot at the moment. But I think the kindest fandoms I’ve ever known were the very small, niche ones dedicated to the kinds of classic literature you’d be forced to read in English class (Nathaniel Hawthorne, Jane Austen, J. D. Salinger etc.). Good memes and minimal discourse.
9. what got you into doing your hobby? I used to have a whole cast of these silly Spyro-inspired dragon characters that I wrote little comics/animatics about. I wound up drawing all the time and never really stopped.
10. what got you into Tumblr? The prospect of destroying SJWs. ...Times change.

The mi power bank is able to fully charge it no problem just keep in mind that you can't fast charge the switch and I will have you know that I would have won the mario kart match if it weren't for Ken not actually shooting the video you know it's kinda hard to play with one hand and shoot with the other and yes these are excuses in fact now because we're just up here for about 24 hours and we're shooting a couple videos I'm traveling pretty light so in addition to the camera we're shooting with right now I also have my Sony rx100 it was that's about this guy is that even though it's a tiny little pocket ball camera we're actually still getting some pretty nice looking for K video so this camera also has its fair bit of trade-offs like for example it only records for five minutes and 4k which obviously I'd like for that to be longer but also it doesn't have the greatest battery life of the world which is where something like the V power bank comes in the main camera we're using today though is the sony a6000 now in a lot of ways you can think of this as the bigger brother to the rx100 so not only do we have an interchangeable lens we're also getting a proper microphone input and importantly a much bigger super 35 sensor however we actually forgot to charge the batteries so the new power bank about to come in handy.

I should've the Jimin I'm gonna plug your camera in right now now I can legitimately say that me is literally powering this video of course no travel is complete without a smartphone which is where the iPhone 10 comes in so this is my daily driver right now and for the most part I've been pretty happy however both Kay and I are also rocking the Google pixel - I like the pixel - whereas Ken's rocking the XL but we both use it for pretty much the same reason the camera is absolutely the best you can get on a smartphone right now so what are the things I've been doing recently is taking thumbnails for YouTube using the pixel - and this is gonna be the one for this video so after a day of shooting the next step is to bring the footage back and actually start editing so our weapon of choice here is going to be the 2016 MacBook Pro

The Rochester-Thornton thing happens with Thornton and Mr. Darcy as well, in ways that don't make sense (it's different if it is just like, a meme, or "I like working men better").
I have read Jane Eyre and Tenant of Wildfell Hall and I have enjoyed them both, and I'm a huge fan of Elizabeth Gaskell. I feel like comparing "which one is better", as you say, misses the point that Charlotte and Emily are writing gothic, Anne is writing modern, and Gaskell is writing naturalistic literature. It's like comparing Stephen King and Neil Gaiman. They are contemporaries and they both write novels and that's pretty much all they have in common.
The terrible thing to me was how the comment that implied Gaskell was forgotten because she was a bad writer (oh, lets ignore the was a dissenter/Dickens had problems with her/she touched some many noses with her books/married woman factors here, because that surely had NOTHING to do with it), and also that the Brontës are terrible writers as well only being remembered because they led tragic lives. Like, one's reaction really should start with "well, now, that's pure unfounded and backhanded criticism" and not with "well, actually MINE is better" so... we are too used to it to notice.
I cannot stop thinking about the post that referenced an article from The Guardian that said the Brontës would have been as forgotten as Gaskell if it were not for their tragic lives. And how OP, instead of seeing the sort of put down that the comment was for all of them, just talked about how reading Jane Eyre clearly proves they were very much better than Gaskell.
Because then I think about that preface of Tenant of Wildfell Hall that was almost in its entirety dedicated to talk about how much of a lesser writer Anne was in relation to her sisters.
And then I think how still in the Little Women fandom people feel that to either love Jo or love Amy you need to hate or diminish the other (portrayed perfectly and how 2019 believes the way to make Amy sympathetic is to strip her of the autonomy of choice. He doesn't want to marry rich, she's guilted into it by her Aunt. He wanted to be like Jo but couldn't and lives permanently under her sister's shadow).
And it makes me sad that we are still there, set in some sort of competition with one another, and for what? The Brontë sisters loved each other and wouldn't have liked to be used to put down one or the other. Charlotte Brontë and Elizabeth Gaskell were friends, the latter wrote a biography of her friend (whom she also helped get into the literary circles in London and to get a chance at marriage). They wrote different stories in completely different styles. They would not have liked to be compared so.
Of course you can compare styles and stories and failures and successes and personalities, that's fair game. But when the point of the criticism is really about exalting one at the expense of the other... that's a false triumph. This is not a competition and the win of one doesn't necessitate the loss of the others.

If you didn’t read last week’s column about August at the box office, then go ahead and do so now, but this week, we have a similar slate of potential hits and bombs that will mainly rely on whether people want to go to movie theaters to get away from the oppressive heat wave, or instead, go to the beach. Of course, if it rains this weekend, it will definitely help the movies.
THE MEG (Warner Bros.)

First up, is the first shark movie we’ve had in theaters in quite some time, and a PG-13 one to boot. The Meg, based on Steve Alten’s book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror about a prehistoric shark that rears its ugly head in the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately for this shark, it’s going to have to go up against Jason Statham in his first prominent role since appearing in last year’sFate of the Furious, and before he and Dwayne Johnson get their own Hobbs & Shaw spin-off next year.
The Meg is directed by Jon Turtletaub, best known for the National Treasuremovies, but he went on to direct The Sorcerer’s Apprentice for Disney (which didn’t do nearly as well) and directed CBS Films’ Last Vegas, which was a decent breakout comedy among older audiences. Maybe Turtletaub wouldn’t seem like the most likely suspect to direct a giant shark movie, but hey, more power to him.
The movie also stars Rainn Wilson (who I didn’t even recognize in the trailer), New Zealand’s Cliff Curtis (from Fear the Walking Dead) and Chinese superstar Bingbing Li, and by superstar, I mean that she seems to be put into every movie from Transformers: Age of Extinction to Resident Evil: Retribution in order to get Chinese audiences to see her movies. She’s not to be confused with Tian Jing who Legendary who puts in all of THEIR movies (three, so far) in order to help get Chinese audiences. I shouldn’t be cynical (especially with Crazy Rich Asians coming out next week), but at least it also stars Winston Chao, who starred in Ang Lee’s The Wedding Banquet, as well as starring the ever-present Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose, who has appeared in four sequels in the last two years and has just been cast as Batwoman in a new CW television series.
I’m not sure if the actors on this matter much outside Statham, because shark enthusiasts even rushed out to see a Mandy Moore movie when 47 Meters Down opened last summer to $11.2 million in just 2,207 theaters, even though that wasn’t really a shark movie. When you talk about shark movies, you have to go back to the grand-daddy of them all, Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, which was the talk of the summer of 1975, becoming one of the first bonafide summer blockbuster, grossing $260 million, which is a LOT by ‘70s standards. Warner’s last attempt at a shark movie was 1999’s Deep Blue Sea, directed by Renny Harlin and starring Samuel L. Jackson and L.L. Cool J. That shark movie opened with $19.1 million and grossed $73.6 million but became a cult classic in the bargain. Surely, the interest in sharks and shark movies has only been exacerbated by Animal Planet’s annual Shark Week, which is mentioned in one of the trailer’s jokes, not to mention the super-bad Sharknado movies.
As the studio’s second to last movie of the summer, Warner Bros. has been giving this movie a huge marketing push, both on television and in theaters, where it was almost impossible to miss the trailer in front of other summer blockbusters, and the studio is putting it into close to 4,000 theaters (including IMAX), a number usually reserved for higher-profile blockbusters.
Reviews will probably be rather mixed, because The Meg is the type of summer popcorn movie that rarely is admired by the snobbier film critics, but it also seems fairly review-proof, because it seems like one of those fun popcorn movies we expect in the summer, which should allow it to do decently opening weekend, in the $20 to 25 million range opening weekend and maybe $65 million or slightly more with the summer winding down. Maybe it won’t be seen as big a bomb as Statham’s FF co-star Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper earlier this summer, but with a budget over $150 million, this one better hope that Chinese audiences like shark movies as much as Americans, because it’s not making that back domestically.
Mini-Review: What can be said about this giant, prehistoric shark movie other than if you’ve already watched the trailer a bunch of times, you’ll already know whether you’re in or out? After watching Jason Statham’s Jonas Taylor losing a couple of his friends in a submarine rescue mission gone pear-shaped, we cut forward five years to China where… wait, isn’t this the beginning of Skyscraper? It won’t take long to realize that The Meg is cut from the same cloth as the recent popcorn movie starring Statham’s Fast and Furious buddy, although in this case, Statham is constantly being overshadowed (quite literally) by the giant CG shark of the title.
It takes a little time to get there as we first have to visit the high-tech deepsea exploratory vessel in the Pacific Ocean, and we meet the team, as they’re about to make a dive into an area below the icy bottom of the Marianas Trench. The mission is going as planned until a large creature hits the deep-sea vessel leaving three members of the team trapped at the bottom of the ocean. Sure enough, they have to call upon Jonas Taylor, who happens to be the ex-husband of the lead scientist, sowe spend another 45 minutes on this rescue mission before we discover (big surprise) that the Megalodon they discovered has gotten out from under the icy depths where it was trapped. From there, we follow the course of events as the team try to put a stop to the Megalodon, and that’s all you really need to know.
The problem is that there are so many characters in the movie, each fighting for their little bit of screen-time against Statham. The writing is so driven by corny and obvious clichés, it’s almost painfully obvious the role each of these characters will play, including Page Kennedy’s funny black guy but especially Rainn Wilson’s corrupt billionaire who is going to make all the wrong calls for the sake of making money. Ruby Rose’s character gets very little to do as so much focus is put on Bingbing Lee’s character and her family. The thing is that you never feel much for either the characters that live or the ones that die, and an 8-year-old girl steals many scenes from the rest of the cast, including Statham.
By the time we get to the Megalodon arriving in the crowded Chinese bay – a scene right out of the original Jaws– we’ve pretty much given up on trying to take any of it seriously, even if most of the cast continues to utter every line in utter po-faced earnest. Otherwise, the movie tries way too hard to throw in funny moments, but rarely really delivers much in that sense, so you watch things unfold as might be expected.
In other words, The Meg is the corniest of popcorn movies that’s mostly ridiculous and predicable. Just don’t go in expecting Jaws, but maybe something closer to Jaws 2.

SLENDER MAN (Screen Gems)

The movie offering the most direct competition for The Meg is this horror film that’s been moved around the schedule so much one wonders if this could possibly have the same quality as some of Screen Gems’ previous releases like 2016’s Don’t Breathe from Fede Alvarez. That one opened even later in August 2016 with an impressive $26.4 million opening on its way to $89.2 million (based on a $10 million budget), helping to solidify Alvarez as a master of horror after his Evil Dead remake a few years earlier.
Directed by Sylvain White (The Losers, Stomp the Yard), you may know Slender Man as the viral internet sensation and urban myth that ended up with one girl almost being murdered by a couple of her classmates “because Slender Man told them to do it.” There’s a lot more to this meme, which is mostly known by younger people who use the internet, but this is a fairly typical movie about teens being haunted by something menacing. Screen Gems was originally going to release this later in August, but they took a big chance by switching it with the Sundance sensation Searching (one of my faves from the festival) to give this a bigger push earlier in the month. Unfortunately, it’s also going up against a much stronger (or equally strong) draw for young people in The Meg, so genre fans will certainly be torn with this one drawing the teen girls and that one getting older males.
This stars Joey King, who also appeared in last year’s high concept horror flick Wish Upon, which opened with just $5.5 million and grossed $14.3 million, one of the last ditch efforts by Broad Green to have a hit.
In any other weekend, this would probably be good for a $20 million opening, but opening in just 2,000 theaters with less of a push and no big name stars to sell it (sorry, Joey!), this one will be lucky to make $15 million this weekend and might end up somewhere below that. This will definitely be more of a one-weekend wonder than some of the summer’s other films so expect large drops in the coming weeks.
Mini-Review: If ever there was a movie that would make you miss Wes Craven, this attempt at furthering an urban legend might be it, as you wonder what he might have done with the premise of a boogeyman that has kids performing rituals to find out if he’s real or not.
In this case, it’s four high school friends who hear of boys trying to call forth the Slender Man, so they follow suit, knowing of his infamy for kidnapping kids and/or killing them and/or driving them crazy. Sure enough, the next day, one of them disappears, so they have to figure out a way to get her back.
Obviously, Slender Man uses a similar model as Ouija or the awful Truth or Dare from earlier in the year where a bunch of dumb teenagers decide to do the one thing they’re not supposed to do, killing them off one by one. The only thing that makes Slender Man even slightly novel is that the character has already become a viral meme on the internet from teens who have created artwork and fake videos of the character (many of which are used for the movie).
The movie is almost as predictable as The Meg in that it’s fairly obvious where things are going at least until the end, and at least none of the young female actors get annoying, as often can be the case. There are also not many grown-up actors to muck up the story that’s clearly geared towards teen girls, but the lack of real tension or scares does hurt the movie overall.
To Sylvain White’s credit, this isn’t a horrible movie, a lot of that to do with the film’s strong genre visuals and an ambient score that keeps one on edge, and the actual Slender Man, while not particularly scary, also isn’t as bad as some of the twisted CG creatures from other horror films.
I guess the best that can be said about Slender Man is that it could have been a lot, lot worse.

BLACKKKLANSMAN (Focus Features)

Spike Lee is back with another racially-charged and potentially controversial political film, but also his first real-life story in ten years since Miracle at St. Anna but also his best reviewed theatrically-released narrative film in 20 years. (How’s THAT for a variance factor?) Based on the true story of Ron Stallworth, a black Colorado Springs policeman who managed to infiltrated the KKK in order to stop their radical plans.
BlacKkKlansman premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May to rave reviews (and a prestigious award being mentioned in the ads) and the raves have continued with more recent reviews that are still at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and this is a rare case where reviews will matter and make a difference at getting people into theaters.
This is the highest profile role for Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington, who also appeared in the Sundance film Monsters and Men and in RZA’s Love Beats Rhymes last year, but the biggest name is likely to be Adam Driver, best known as Kylo Ren from the recent Star Wars movies. It also stars Laura Harrier from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and Topher Grace in the unenviable role of KKK grandmaster David Duke.
Lee’s last few movies haven’t done great with his controversial Old Boy remake starring Samuel L. Jackson making even less than his independently-produced musical Chi-Raq, both making less than $3 million domestically. What makes this somewhat different is that white critics are getting behind it as much as black critics, which should bring in a nice mix of the arthouse crowd and the African Americans who have been waiting for Spike Lee to return to the greatness of earlier films Do the Right Thing and Jungle Fever.
BlacKkKlansman seems likely to be the breakout movie of the weekend, although opening in just 1,630 theaters might limit its potential opening to closer to $7 or 8 million rather than giving the two movies above a run for the Top 3. Even so, expect word-of-mouth to continue to drive this to a domestic gross of somewhere in the high-$20 mil, low-$30 mil range, which would make it Spike Lee’s biggest hit since Inside Manwith Denzel Washington.
Mini-Review: Spike Lee has finally found a vehicle that plays up to his strengths, while also returning him to the realm of both Malcolm X and earlier films like Do the Right Thing. It’s a film that allows him to explore race relations in this country through the eyes of the real-life Ron Stallworth, the first black cop in the suburban Colorado Springs who decides to go undercover infiltrating the local KKK branch in the early ‘70s.
Ron Stallworth’s story is a solid one, and it’s told in a way that for the most part is lighter than one might expect, because it is hard to believe what Stall worth gets away with. More than anything, BlacKkKlansman is just a great vehicle for the younger John David Washington, who delivers a similarly-rounded performance as Lakeith Stanfield does in the recent Sorry to Bother You, and Adam Driver is great as always as his white partner who does the dirty work
One of the nicer surprises is Laura Spurrier as a local college activist who Ron befriends but has to keep out of the loop about him being an undercover cop. (Cops are very much the enemy to her and her African-American college friends.)
The KKK members are deliberately played so over-the-top as the villains of the piece to make sure there’s no grey area about that matter, but Topher Grace does a decent job playing the unenviable role of David Duke.
By the last act, the movie starts feeling like it’s going on for too long with the last act dragged out by cutting between the KKK watching Birth of a Nationand the great Harry Belafonte giving an impassioned speech about the treatment of blacks in the past. It’s a really shocking and effective juxtaposition that works but also takes away from the movie’s previous tone up until that point.
As effective as this scene might be, it’s also unnecessary as we already understand the seriousness of what Stallworth has achieved, and the extended epilogue showing footage from the Charlottesville protest last year hammers things home in a way that just seems like Spike Lee being Spike Lee. We get it, Spike. There are still race problems in this country. That said, BlacKkKlansman is Spike Lee’s best film in a very long time, one that should continue the narrative that began with producer Jordan Peele’s film Get Out last year, even if it does so in not nearly as clever a way.

DOG DAYS (LD Entertainment)
The odd dog out this weekend is this independent family film being distributed by LD Entertainment, Mickey Liddell’s production company that has turned into a full-blown film studio and distributor in recent years, though it hasn’t exactly made many waves in that realm. Its last theatrical release was April’s The Miracle Season with Helen Hunt, which only grossed $10.2 million domestic after an opening below $4 million, but maybe that’s good for a low-budget inspirational sports drama. LD has produced other movies that have fared better when released by other studios like Bleecker Street (Megan Leavey), Roadside Attractions (Forever My Girl) and others.
This anthology film about people’s relationship with their dogs is hoping to bring in families with younger kids that like dogs but also women, and a definite plus is that it’s directed by Ken Marino, former member of The State and David Wain collaborator whose last movie How to be a Latin Lover, a Pantelion release starring Eugenio Derbez, grossed $32.7 million last year. The ensemble cast includes Nina Dobrev and Vanessa Hudgens, who have built a fanbase from their television roles on The Vampire Diaries and High School Musical respectively, as well as Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things. They’re joined by Eva Longoria, Rob Corddry and Thomas Lennon, which is a decent cast but not one that offers much of a draw over the cute dogs.
Last year’s Megan Leavey might be the best comparison for Dog Days, as that also involved a dog (and no, I’m not talking about Kate Mara…rimshot) and that opened with around $3.8 million in just under 2000 theaters.
I wasn’t invited to see an advanced screening of this before writing this column, so I’ll just have to assume that reviews will be pretty good – NOPE!-- though it’s hard to think there’s much awareness for this movie. (In fact, I didn’t even realize the movie opened on Wednesday since that seemed like a last-minute decision. Expect an opening in the $4 to 5 million range at best, which should be enough to break into the bottom of the top 10, but it could end up being shut out and forgotten with stronger family releases already in theaters including last week’s Christopher Robin.

LIMITED RELEASES

This weekend has a ridiculous amount of specialty releases, but the summer of high-profile Sundance premieres continues with the New York release of Josephine Decker’s amazing indie film Madeline’s Madeline (Oscilloscope), introducing break-out star Helena Howard as the title character, who got the leading role in a theater piece being staged by a director (Molly Parker) who seems to want to revolve the piece around Madeline’s life including her dysfunctional relationship with her mother (Miranda July). This is a fascinating film that definitely veers into the art film world of July’s own films like You and Me and Everyone We Know, but it has a quirky charm that keeps you invested throughout.
Opening in select theaters after a month-long run on DirecTV is Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s A Prayer Before Dawn (A24) starring Peaky Blinders’ Joe Cole as an American kickboxer who ends up in a Thai prison after being busted for drugs. Once there, he needs to take on the savage environment while dealing with his own drug addiction, eventually getting back into kickboxing as a way to clean himself up and change his situation. I ended up enjoying this movie more than I thought I would
Another Sundance premiere that got a lot of buzz was Skate Kitchen (Magnolia), the new film from The Wolfpack director Crystal Moselle, this one a narrative film featuring the young women of Skate Kitchen, a Lower East Side skater crew who are joined by Camille (Rachelle Vinberg), a girl from Long Island whose mother (Elizabeth Rodriguez) doesn’t approve of her pastime. Also starring Jaden Smith, Moselle’s film is an interesting mix of established actors and non-actors, although I wasn’t really into the seemingly non-scripted format, very similar to another Sundance movie coming out next week. I guess I wish there was more of a narrative rather than the young women talking about personal issues, but maybe that’s just me. It opens at the IFC Center in New York Friday (with Moselle and the Skate Kitchen in person) then expands to other cities next week.
Fresh off its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival’s Midnight section is RKSS’s Summer of 84 (Gunpowder and Sky) involving a group of 15-year-olds who think that a police officer in their neighborhood might actually be a serial killer, so they start their own investigation.

Fresh from its debut at the New York Asian Film Festival and the Phillippines is Erik Matti’s BuyBust (Well GO USA), a police thriller starring Anne Curtis as anti-narcotics special operative Nina Manigan, who is trying to take down the drug cartels of Manila, while also facing dirty cops and bloodthirsty citizens. It opens in select cities this weekend.
Well GO is also opening Huang Bo’s Chinese dramedy The Island about a meteorite bound for earth that doesn’t have much effect on the life of Ma Jin (played by Huang himself) who daydreams of winning the lottery and having a romance with his colleague Shanshan (Qi Shu), but when the event happens, he ends up shipwrecked on an island with some of the coworkers and the winning lottery ticket.

Mia Rose Frampton stars in Jack C. Newell’s teen drama Hope Springs Eternal (Samuel Goldwyn) as Hope, a girl dying of cancer whose condition has increased her popularity, but when she discovers she’s cured, how will all her new friends react? I haven’t seen the movie, but boy, am I able to relate to this as a cancer survivor myself. This will be on VOD and in select theaters.
Gravitas Ventures offers two new genre films this weekend, the apocalyptic thriller What Still Remains (with Strike the Sun Entertainment) from first-time director Josh Mendoza, which will hit VOD on August 14, and Along Came the Devil (Gravitas Ventures), a supernatural thriller directed by Jason DeVan (Mindless) and starring Jessica Barth from Happy Death Day and more. The latter about a teen girl who tries to contact the spirit world will be available On Demand at the same time as its theatrical release.

Also opening at the IFC Center is Elizabeth Harvest (IFC Films), the new film from Sebastian Gutierez (aka Carla Gugino’s partner), this one starring Australian supermodel Abbey Lee as the title character who arrives at the estate of her scientist husband Henry (Ciaran Hinds), but is treated poorly by the staff (Gugino and Matthew Beard) and told that’s she’s forbidden from a locked room, which of course, she investigates as soon as Henry goes away.
I haven’t seen it, but I imagine the best thing going for Nick Fituri Scown’s directorial debut Pretty Bad Actress (MVD Entertainment Group) is that it stars the comedic great Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street, Rough Night), but it’s loosely based on the story of Theresa Saldana who was almost killed by a stalker but who starred in the TV-movie about her own ordeal. This one stars Heather McComb as former child star Gloria Green who has a similar experience. It will open at L.A.’s Arena Cinemalounge and be on Digital Friday.
From Bollywood comes Vishwaroop 2(Reliance Entertainment), directed and starring Kamal Haasan, and also out in New York at the Village East is the Icelandic film The Swan (Synergetic) from Ása Helga Hjörleifsdóttir, which will open in L.A. at the Laemmle Royal on August 17. The latter is a drama based on Guðbergur Bergsson’s coming-of-age novel about a 9-year-old girl who goes to visit her relatives in the country where she befriends a farmhand.
Let’s get to some repertory programming in NYC, which is specifically for those who live in New York… or don’t mind travelling.
We’ll start off with the Metrograph who are presenting the first North American retrospective for Anime filmmaker Makoto Shinkai, whose film Your Name. was a blockbuster hit in Japan and breakout hit over here – it even made my Top 3 last year, so I know I’ll try to catch some of his other films. The Metrograph also offers a Rialto Pictures’ restoration of former army cameraman Pierre Schoendoerffer’s 1965 war film The 317thPlatoon, starring Jacques Perrin and others, the story of the occupying French army caught in the difficult politics of the Indochina War. The IFC Center will debut a new 25thanniversary restoration of Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence, starring Daniel Day Lewis, while the Quadpresents a 40thAnniversary restoration of Diane Kurys’ French coming-of-age film Peppermint Soda.
Lastly, Netflix presents the original comedy film The Package about a group of teens who need to put a friend back together after an unfortunate spring break accident… you can probably guess from the title or the image on the Netflix site what body part the friend loses.

The Power of Soft Power
What I have tried to do in these writings is to encourage “soft power”. What is soft power? Well, a look at our enemies will tell us. Antifa and BLM burning down cities and attacking people is hard power. The media covering up their crimes is an example of soft power. The fear Antifa and BLM generate in people to control them is also soft power. Saul Alinsky's “Rules for Radicals” is a manual on how to weaponize soft power. Let's go through them and see what we can learn. Remember “soft power” is still power!
“Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.
This rule shows the power of organization. The militia will never have as much money as the Wall Street vampires, the DNC, or the corrupt GOP politicians. This lack of money can be countered by organization. The North Vietnamese communists were super-organized, it was the only way they could fight the super-wealthy United States. Even now, they are far more organized that we are, I personally feel too many conservatives are “waiting to be saved” from the evil of the DNC. My response has been the same from the beginning. Get off your ass.
2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.
What he is saying is stick with what you know. The limitation of this is lower level people in Antifa and BLM don't really know much at all, they just how to be violent. The leadership of Antifa and BLM, admittedly trained Marxists, know how to use these useful idiots. To counter the enemy, every militia member needs to be trained and encouraged to think for themselves. They need to know who, what, when, why, and how of what they are doing. This is the “Ethical Indoctrination” I mentioned earlier that was used by Evans Carlson's Marine Raiders in WW2.We need our people to be of better quality than their people. Therefore, the training must be intense and thorough so as make them as comfortable and secure in whatever challenges they face. Ethical Indoctrination has be coupled with competent training!
3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.
Every group has a weakness that can be exploited. In the Vietnam War, the US Marines were far superior in training and firepower than the North Vietnamese Army, but the US Marines (by law) could not fight the North Vietnamese in American universities where Marxism held sway and they could not fight them in the communists propaganda outlets of CBS, NBC, ABC, The NY Times, etc. These places were “outside” the expertise of the Marine Corps, which is why the communists put so much effort into taking over them. On a positive note, while lefties are experts on establishing narratives, their thinking has almost nothing to do with reality. We are experts on the real world and that is where we should be the most active. However, we are in a total and desperate fight to save this republic, but we are being beaten by the left because they are good organizers.
4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
I would add that we can add false accusations of being a Nazi, homophobe, bigot, etc. etc. have also been effective in the past. It let's them justify their evil while maintaining the illusion that they are virtuous. However, their weakness is that they are totalitarians and do not have since of humor. This is why funny memes are an effective tactic to use against them, and why many Big Tech companies are censoring memes so as to protect them. Make and spread funny memes people, they are powerful soft weapons!
6. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.
This, I think is self-explanatory, but let's look inside the twisted mind of Lefties. In general, Lefties are, as individuals, pathetic. Because of this, they like to form mobs, both online and in the streets. Belonging to a mob gives them a sense of power that they would not otherwise have. All the virtue signaling they do is nothing more than white-wash on their internal tombs full of corruption and feelings of inadequacy. This is the basis of their being. We are not dealing with the great and the good, but pathetic individuals who can't wait to shout, “Witch! Witch!” (or “Nazi! Nazi!) and then see good people burned at the stake just to feel the rush of power. I said previously that we are better at reality and the reality is, these individuals are weak people and that fact should be exploited.
7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.
Again, this is self-explanatory. We can see how the term “racist” is being so overused and has been for so long that it no longer has much sting.
8. “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
I mentioned in the main body of this thread that we need to be creative. Here we see why. The more you hit someone and from different angles, the harder it is for them to respond. This works at both the tactical level and the strategic level, while using Hard Power and using Soft Power. Again we can look to the Vietnam War to see how operations on the battlefield where coupled with disinformation campaigns and subversion of the Universities and the media.
9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
Thanks to their dystopian fantasies and their weak personalities, lefties are particularly prone to fear. The two major components of a lefty hive-minded insect is fear and hate. Use it against them. Every time the overreact with fear, use their excesses to show their evil to the world.
10. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.” It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.
What they mean by “reactions from the opposition” are really overreactions, or reasonable reactions that can be twisted into overreactions when Brian Stelter or Rachel Maddow talk about them on the news. This is a warning to us, always be on guard, always be the first to state your narrative and make sure you repeat incessantly to counter the propaganda machine of the Lefties.
11. “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.
This rule explains why CNN and the rest were defending the riots as legitimate expressions of anger at the cops. That is why they pushed the “Defund the Police!” nonsense. The thing here, is that we don't really need to promote any negatives. However, things like Gun Control can be pushed back against.
12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.
This is important, it means you have to know how to fix something. You can't just burn something down, you need to have a plan to replace it.
13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.
Again, self-explanatory, but you see this tactic being done everyday, especially online where there is no risk to Leftists since the Big Tech companies allow them free reign on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Watch: Epic Uses Immunocompromised VP to Convince Workers the Office Is Safe
“You probably saw my sign outside my door, it’s there to remind people that I’m immune compromised, because I had a heart transplant last summer,” Erv Walter, a vice president at the Wisconsin-based healthcare giant Epic Systems says in a video the company made to explain to its nearly 10,000 employees that they’re coming back to the office next month. “My transplant team … gave me the green light to come back as long as I followed some essential precautions. Stay away from sick people. Stay away from people not wearing masks. I wear my own mask whenever I’m around other people, and I wash my hands a lot … I assume others are doing the same.”
The video also makes use of airhorns and echo effects, seemingly to make the prospect of returning to the office during an international pandemic more fun.
The company, which maintains electronic medical records and provides other software systems for doctors and hospitals, announced to its employees last week that they would be required to come back to their Verona, Wisconsin campus by September 21. That announcement, the use of an immunocompromised employee to demonstrate the campus is “safe” in a hype video, and Epic executives’ statements to the media have infuriated employees, who say they’re organizing and that many may refuse to return to campus.
The situation shows that, though some states are allowing non-essential employees to return to offices, many people don’t feel it’s safe to go back, and many companies are pressuring their employees to do so.
Epic has told employees that their presence at the office is a matter of life and death for those affected by COVID-19, and that they will save lives by having in-person meetings at the company’s “Intergalactic Headquarters,” a campus that has themed buildings with names like “Andromeda,” “Barn,” and a treehouse office called “Endor” (“No Girlz Allowed,” a sign outside the building stated in a 2015 tour video). The company has also claimed that in-person meetings is integral to its company “culture.”
“Saving lives is our highest priority. Over two-thirds of the country have medical records in Epic and our software has helped save many thousands of lives,” Epic said in a statement to Motherboard. “Over the past several months, our experience has been that results are much better and faster when staff are able to collaborate on new and creative ideas during in-person brainstorming sessions compared to over the phone or video conference. This in-person collaboration, with masks and safe physical distancing, is essential to saving more lives. People with health conditions that put them at higher risk for COVID-19 will be able to participate in meetings virtually.”
Employees at the company, however, say that they’ve had no problem working from home, and that many of them do not feel it’s safe to return to the office.
“Epic spent a ton of money to own their own land and build expensive buildings designed to look like Disneyland, so they think they're losing so much by not having us be there,” a current Epic employee told Motherboard. “Google announced that they are not having employees return to the office until 2021 at the earliest. I should not have to be pointing to another tech company that is being more safe. We are the fucking healthcare company; they should be looking at us.”
Motherboard granted anonymity to current employees because they were not authorized to speak to the media. Employees at Epic have begun organizing through SMART Local 565 of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers; through that organization, workers said the company is putting them and the state of Wisconsin at risk.
“Claiming that a culture of chance encounters in the hallways is more important than the untold deaths that will occur both indirectly by spread through the broader community and directly from forcing workers into close quarters when they don’t need to be,” the employees said. “This is an issue that will end up affecting the entire Dane County community, not just Epic workers, as COVID-19 cannot be bounded by the Epic campus walls.”
Besides moving to potentially form a union, employees have begun bombarding internal communication systems and Jodel, a hyperlocal social network, with memes about their company.
“Epic: We can’t have a gym or childcare on campus because we want to support local businesses and the greater community,” one reads. “Also Epic: Eat COVID and die Dane county. WE’RE HEROES HELPING HEROES OVER HERE.”
Workers have also organized internal surveys and begun sending emails to an inbox run by the company’s “COVID-19 Response Team.” A group email stated that “we feel Epic is acting cavalierly and putting its short-term business goals ahead of employee, community, and national health. Our attempts to express our concerns or ask clarifying questions through approved channels have been dismissed or ignored.”
So far, the company has stood by its plan. Earlier this week, it sent an executive onto CBS This Morning to defend the move back to the office.

White Claw Summer Leads to White Claw Shortage

Summary of Story
White Claw is an alcoholic beverage that was introduced into the market in 2016. It is owned by Mark Anthony Brands, the same company that produces Mike’s Hard Lemonade. White Claw is a hard seltzer, which is different than a spiked seltzer. A hard seltzer is brewed from fermented gluten-free grains, which produce a clear, flavorless alcohol that is then flavored and sweetened with cane sugar (Bryson, 2019). This is important because beverages that are brewed instead of spiked are taxed at a cheaper rate by the federal government, and can be sold in stores for a lower price. White Claw is affordably priced, has low sugar content, contains approximately 100 calories per drink, and includes 5% alcohol content by volume. The alcohol content is comparable to many light beers, while the calorie count and sugar content tend to be lower (Valinsky, 2019).
White Claw sales have experienced triple digit growth annually since the product was introduced to the market in 2016. In the past year alone, Nielsen and the New York Times report that “dollar sales [are] up 250 percent” (Bromwich, 2019). However, this massive growth has led to shortages across the country. In order to make sure that White Claw would be available in all markets, the company imposed an allocation limit for liquor stores and bars everywhere (Garrand, 2019). This means that no matter what the stores ask for when they order, they are allotted a certain amount that they can get. If a liquor store requests 100 cases of White Claw because they know that they can sell that in a week, they might only receive 40 cases due to the allotment. In this instance, this helps White Claw keep its product distributed across the country equally, but hurts the individual store that is now missing out on the sales of 60 more cases per week.
Forbes contributors David Sturt and Todd Nordstrom summed up the White Claw shortage well when they said that it “seem[s] like a perfect publicity stunt until you consider just how much more product [White Claw] could have sold if they could predict such an overwhelming response and social media frenzy” (Sturt, Nordstrom 2019). In response to the shortage, a White Claw spokesperson said that “we are working around the clock to increase supply given the rapid growth in consumer demand” (Peterson, 2019). White Claw has mainly used Twitter to respond to their customer complaints as well. They have been using a mix of canned tweets that direct consumers to the ‘Contact Us’ section of their website, and personal replies to problems.
Reaction to Story
I believe that White Claw found itself in an interesting growth situation largely because of “meme culture”, and isn’t entirely to blame for the shortage of its products. Maintaining triple digit growth and 60% market share in a business that is booming almost overnight is a difficult challenge to face (Bromwich, 2019). White Claw has dedicated very little of its earnings and budget to marketing, and has chosen to let the masses tell their story for them. This has led to the borderline ‘viral sensation’ nature of its success, but it has also left a lot to be desired when it comes to owning up to their shortcomings. Real small businesses are losing money because White Claw can’t keep up with the demand, and not enough has been done from a communication standpoint to help alleviate those pains in the industry.

Listen To Stakeholders
The Arthur Page Principle Listen To Stakeholders is not being met at this time (The Page Principles, n.d.). Responding to a handful of customer complaint tweets a day with canned responses is killing any potential conversation that could be happening between the company and its stakeholders. The same can be said about the liquor store owners- more transparency is needed to help them manage the public’s expectations about when White Claw will be back in stock, and how much will be delivered per shipment.
Manage For Tomorrow
Another relevant Arthur Page Principle in this situation is to Manage For Tomorrow (The Page Principles, n.d.). White Claw rose to power largely because of meme culture and the younger demographic supporting it with Instagram pictures, Twitter jokes, and Snapchat stories. This narrative can quickly turn sour if White Claw fails to keep up with the demand. The popular hashtags #WhiteClawSummer and #WhiteClawWednesday have slowly been replaced with #WhiteClawShortage. If this trend keeps up, White Claw could become a 2019 fad, soon to be replaced by another trendy drink that can match the growing consumer demand for beer and wine alternatives.
Conduct Public Relations As If The Whole Enterprise Depends On It
The final Arthur Page Principle I would like to examine for this case study is Conduct Public Relations As If The Whole Enterprise Depends On It (The Page Principles, n.d.). White Claw has not been adhering to this principle, but it makes sense as to why they might be hesitant to launch a public relations campaign at this point in time. They grew exponentially without the help of a massive marketing budget. They purposely like to remain open to all audience segments and all kinds of people. If they were to launch anything too flashy at this time, it could backfire and turn their consumer base away from them. White Claw has allowed its younger fans to assign value to their brand through memes and internet jokes. Instead of fighting the tide of public opinion, it might actually be best in this scenario to lay low until a solution is really ready. When that time comes, it will be interesting to see how White Claw approaches their communication strategy. In the meantime, it is important for White Claw to ramp up its efforts in using Twitter to communicate with disgruntled customers and business owners alike who are being affected by the White Claw shortage.

Star Trek: TNG Characters Sorted Into Their Hogwarts Houses
Star Trek: The Next Generation is such a beloved and engaging series for many reasons, from its diverse, beloved cast to its cool sci-fi themes that often spoke of tolerance and acceptance. TNG revived the entire Star Trek franchise, paving the way for more series to follow it, and it remains one of the fandom favorites to this day.

While fans are excited to revisit favorite cast members in CBS's upcoming Star Trek: Picard, the fandom is often mixed with other fandoms, particularly in fanart and even shows like Family Guy, which begs the question: What would it be like if Picard, Riker and crew were at Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizardry, and which Houses would they be sorted into?
10 Picard: Ravenclaw

Is there any doubt which Hogwarts House the Sorting Hat would place Captain Jean-Luc Picard into? Sure, he has the commanding presence of a Gryffindor, the cunning of a Slytherin and the loyalty of a Hufflepuff, but this captain has the style, the refined tastes and the cerebral capabilities of a Ravenclaw.
Captain Picard's keen mind and pursuit of intellectual interests would be best served within Professor Flitwick's House. Jean-Luc would easily be a prefect sipping Earl Grey tea in the Ravenclaw common room, poring over ancient runes and telling his first-year newbies to "Make it so."
9 Troi: Hufflepuff

Like anyone in Starfleet, Counselor Deanna Troi could really be placed in any Hogwarts House based on her skills and personality, but she would best fit in with other Hufflepuffs. Troi is kind and compassionate, with a door always open to the rest of her shipmates who need assistance, and she's always been one of the most loyal characters on board.

Troi accepts people for who they are, a hallmark of the Hufflepuff. She values trust and friendship, forming strong emotional bonds with the people she cares about on the Enterprise. Her half-Betazoid powers would not only be well accepted but put to use in this house.
8 Riker: Slytherin

Commander William Riker, Captain Picard's First Officer, does have the adventuring spirit of a Gryffindor, but ultimately his cunning mind, pride and ability to look out for (you guessed it) number one make him a Slytherin at heart. The time he remarked, "Speak for yourself, sir. I plan to live forever," was saturated with Slytherin energy, and while he surely wouldn't create Horcruxes in order to accomplish such a lofty goal, he would surely seek out other means to at least get closer to that dream.
Being a Slytherin a fantastic asset for a Starfleet Commander since the position requires every possible angle to be explored quickly to protect the crew (and oneself) from certain doom at all times. Snape could teach him to brew fame and bottle glory, which would be pretty appealing to Riker.
7 La Forge: Ravenclaw

In a science fiction program, we're bound to have a Ravenclaw majority, especially with so many scientists on board the Enterprise. One of the most obvious Ravenclaws is Geordi La Forge, a man of science who pursues knowledge not only for his job as the chief engineer of the Enterprise but for the sake of learning itself.

La Forge is absolutely relentless. He once stayed up all night to fix a simple problem in a shuttle craft, and he's often the quickest thinker on board, devising solutions even as problems develop. He would flourish under flitwick's tutelage and likely even come up with his own spells.
6 Dr. Crusher: Hufflepuff

As the ship's resident chief medical officer and the head of Starfleet Medical, Beverley Crusher would definitely do well in Ravenclaw, but it's under Professor Sprout in the Hufflepuff House where she would shine brightest. The character's biggest trait is her compassion, which is a trademark of the Hufflepuff. It also makes sense for a Healer to have some herbal background.
Dr. Crusher even admits that she should be tougher on her emotions as a doctor to Captain Picard, saying, "Where are all the callouses we doctors are supposed to grow over our feelings?" He assures her that the good ones don't get them, which really sums Bev up in a nutshell.
5 Wesley Crusher: Ravenclaw

Some might want to joke about Wesley Crusher being a squib, or that he's Hermione Granger's twin, since he can be so insufferable. The Sorting Hat might even pause on Slytherin, as it did with Harry Potter, since he abandoned his chance with Star Fleet for more selfish pursuits, but ultimately this child prodigy has to be in Ravenclaw.

Wesley's child prodigy status, combined with his ability to create incredible plans out of thin air and his desire to leave with the Traveler in pursuit of more knowledge all point toward his belief that wit beyond measure being man's greatest treasure.
4 Data: Hufflepuff

Data's obvious placement would be in Ravenclaw, but whether by choice or by his true personality, the android would end up in Hufflepuff instead. This is not only where he could learn the most about human behavior, but it would match his self-sacrificing nature. Data has given the ultimate sacrifice for his friends, proving that loyalty is his strongest trait.
Data's sentimentality, adorable pet ownership and willingness to help anyone, anytime fit much more into the Hufflepuff realm than any other house, and while he might be a literal walking computer, his yearning to be more human-like is much stronger than his desire to acquire more knowledge in general.
3 Worf: Gryffindor

If Worf weren't placed into Gryffindor by the Sorting Hat, his pride could easily land him into the Slytherin House, but he's just too willing to off himself in battle to perish in a blaze of glory to be in Professor Snape's house. Worf doesn't event think that his promotion to chief security officer aboard the Enterprise is even an honorable one since he didn't earn it himself, and obtained it when Yar was offed instead.

By continually risking his life to save others and valuing valor and honor above all else, Worf has demonstrated that he belongs in Professor McGonagall's house.
2 Guinan: Hufflpuff

Like many people aboard the Enterprise, Guinan could easily belong into a hybrid house, since she has the kindness and loyalty of a Hufflepuff alongside the wisdom of a Ravenclaw. If she had to choose, however, Guinan would likely veer toward Hufflepuff since she introduces herself as someone who tends bar and listens. She is the best listener and giver of advice on the ship, and she genuinely cares about each person who seeks her out.
Due to her age, Guinan is likely the wisest person aboard the ship, with only Data knowing more, but like the android, she's more interested in the human experience. Having lost her own people, she knows the value of compassion and connection.
1 Yar: Gryffindor

Tasha Yar didn't even finish a full season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but what time she had on the show she portrayed a bold, forceful chief tactical and security officer who showed no fear. She's a fighter who demonstrates her skills during ritual combat, too.
Many fans believe that Yar paved the way for the character Starbuck Thrace in the 2004 when Battlestar Galactica had a reboot. In the show bible, she was one of the most interesting characters, which is why it's such a shame that she didn't get a chance to truly develop on the show.
