more importantly, the absence of violence, or the constant avoidance of death, harm, and the characterization of it as "evil" completely ignores when avoiding harm is impossible or when death *is* inevitable.

In turn, humanizing cows, chickens, pigs, goats, pretty much any animal as a means of framing harm and harm done to those animals it is dangerous if you do not keep it in check with the reality that a lot of those animals don't function the same in nature that they used to, and to suddenly assume that you can simply free them and put them back into nature is not only a huge presumption, it's a dangerous one because it can hurt both of them and the environment. That's how we get invasive species in many cases. That 30 to 50 feral Hogs guy? He's talking about a legitimate problem, a population of hogs escaped a domesticated enclosure and began breeding, and they bred so fast and so dangerously that they began overcrowding other animals and causing harm to other animals and the ecosystem and two people. 30 to 50 feral Hogs are a legitimate threat and turns out that guy had a point!

And if you're critical or scared of how people are farming animals and think it's like genuinely dangerous, I need you to know that farming is safe and there are safe and healthy environmentally conscious farming practices that incorporate the natural chemical makeup of the land, the products the animal produces, and the relationship to them. One of the ways to do this is crop rotation as well as livestock rotation, another way to do this? What we call Food forests, and ecologically diverse cultivation practices, incorporating the behaviors of the animal with the environment and human intervention to best optimize yield without overproduction.

The projection of human existence and feelings onto animals both ignores and denies the agency of animals, and presumes their needs without consideration for their biology or their ecological location or the context of their evolution and how they got to a certain point. It would be cruelty to release some domesticated animals into the wild, not only because they could in turn be invasive, but also because there are bodily functions in many domesticated animals that cannot be addressed by Wild situations. If you release horses in places where horses aren't native, such as the steppe region in Eurasia, their hoofs might get deformed because they aren't properly getting chip down by the environment. If you release dairy cows to any environment which is not suitable for them, the production of their milk and the lack of care and maintenance required for their upkeep could cause infection and kill them. If you put the wrong kind of bees in the wrong environment, they're not going to help the population of flowers and plants that exist in that area, they will become invasive and possibly overcrowd the actual native species.

I am all for respecting animal sentience, and their existence, and understanding their needs and intuiting them, I am all for humans connecting with animals to the capacity that we can, but I must make the very urgent and necessary distinction:

Humans are animals but not every animal is human.

The animals we have domesticated mimic and do have some characteristics which are similar to us, cows are social, as are pigs and sheep and goats and chickens and horses and dogs and cats. Domesticated animals emote in largely similar ways to us or are easy to understand from how they emote, dogs even evolved specialized muscles and behavior unique to common household canines that mimics human facial expressions and speech patterns or socialization patterns. Cows and chickens as we currently know them do require some kind of human intervention at times because they have evolved out of certain systems that could help them regulate otherwise easily regulated issues in the wild, and to deny them that help simply because "they deserve to be free" with no other respect to what they need is going to harm them.

Humans do need to get back in touch with nature, and that does mean learning about how animals are and how they interact and how they socialize and trying to figure out how we can incorporate and understand that socialization with our own, without doing them harm. Good examples of why trying to humanize animals can be dangerous can be found in dolphins and chimpanzees specifically.

Experiments have been done on dolphins and chimps to try and humanize them, teach them speech, to try and get them to evolve similarly to us, and really all that happened was we gave a chimp body dysmorphia and depression, and caused a dolphin to commit suicide because it couldn't fuck a woman. Humanizing animals is a dangerous path if you're not careful, and you have to keep such a practice at a distance, if not entirely remove it from your mind in some instances and try to understand what they're saying or what they're doing, because animals do socialize and they do communicate, but they're not going to be the same as us.

And that's not wrong to say, it is in fact wrong to say that humans and animals are indistinguishable, because that is factually incorrect. Humans have one of the most complex social structures in the animal kingdom if not the most complex, certain animals have similar parallels, but they are on no level the same and no level communicationally as complex, if they are, we can't see it because we don't prioritize the same interests and issues and things they do, because they're different. It would be incorrect to expect a cow to have the same emotional and intellectual capacity as a human, because it doesn't. Even if we were to communicate with a cow, it wouldn't communicate the same in terms of thoughts and what it prioritizes. By trying to teach a gorilla sign language or by trying to teach a dolphin how to speak or by trying to teach a chimpanzee how to be human, what you're doing is actually trying to teach them not to be themselves, depriving them of instinct or just straight up telling them to ignore Instinct in favor of following a humanized approximation, and such an approximation is harmful.

It's harmful because it centers animal socialization, agency, rights, respect, and protections from a human perspective, it treats animals like an aesthetic, like an accessory, like a toy, like a robot, totally beholden to our whims and Wiles and not based upon their own needs. That is dangerous. That is harmful. If you respect animals socialization, agency, rights, and if you want to respect them and protect them, you need to understand the shark is cool but also will kill to eat, as do dolphins, they're not just gentle creatures and they're not just wholly evil creatures, they, like us need to eat and live and survive.

Humans are animals, but animals are not humans, remember that, remember that when you see a dog smile or a cat look at you, remember that when you project your emotions onto them. That doesn't mean they don't feel or don't think or don't have some kind of self-awareness, such assertions ignores the fact that animals are being with agency that operate within their own context. That being said? Animals, like humans, are capable of great harm, inconsiderate harm, cruelty. Animals are not innocent, that's a human construction, one which is relative to constant and shifting moral Frameworks, Frameworks which animals are not privy to nor get any sort of say in. They are neither innocent nor guilty, they're neither evil nor good, they are animals, and they can cause harm, and kill, and care, but they do it in their own unique ways, and they do it as animals.

It is dangerous to conflate the feelings and behaviors of humans with all animals, because not all animals are humans, some animals don't behave or achieve success and comfort and a long life from what humans do. Some animals eat shit, humans don't do that, other animals eat rotting meat, humans don't do that, and some animals don't eat at all, their entire purpose is to fuck and die, and while Some Humans do that, that's not a regular occurrence, its just something that happens.

If you want to respect animals and take care of them, if you want to know and address their needs, stop projecting your own insecurities, feelings, situations, and ideas on to them. Instead, dismantle the systems that don't just treat them as a resource, but do so in a manner that is unfitting and dangerous, unhealthy and hazardous. If you want to respect animals, you must listen to the sounds of the forest, and know the brutality inherent to nature.

hange is a very very eccentric, extravagant person so, obviously they’d literally do everything and anything for you and that includes their love languages. they absolutely love being around you constantly so they can yap your ear off about one thing or the other. they will constantly compliment you whether you styled your hair differently that day or you’re just looking radiant and they feel the need to point it out. they looovvveee a kiss and a cuddle! like seriously. hange loves that shit. hange is a pecker if you will, they love peppering kisses all over your face at least 3 times a day. hange would and does love to take the bins out for you! they love getting your groceries or walking your dog! ask them for anything and they’ll jump out of their seat to do it for you. and finally, they love giving you gifts. it’s always weird little trinkets or obnoxiously large gifts? for some reason? there’s no in-between either btw. it’s kinda fun for you cause it’s like everyday is a new love language lol.

i think the fandom needs to learn how to treat serious things sensitively rather than making it some uwu cutesy thing that “i can put my angsty little blorbo man into!”

i see this a lot with the stripper darry stuff specifically—not really a sensitive subject but i think people treat it more like “oh he’s just a silly wittle guy and it’s so goofy that he has to sell his body for food!” like do you see how fucked up that sounds? while yes, technically, it’s just a job and an unfortunate way people make money, it’s not really funny when you look at why he would have to do that. he’s a twenty year old kid who goes between roofing houses (which is already physically taxing) and supposedly, stripping and selling his body just so he can make sure he and his newly orphaned brothers have a warm place to stay and food in their stomachs. it’s really not some cutesy silly thing like people treat it to be, especially when you put it like that. it’s worse when people write borderline trauma porn with him, especially in a fandom that’s mostly made up of minors but that’s a rant for another day (and i guess you can argue tagging it as such but still). i’m pretty sure the stripper darry thing was a joke anyway but whatever.

another one i see this with is the vietnam sodapop headcanon. maybe im biased because i hate that headcanon and his birthday was never called in the draft and the only way he could’ve fought was if he enlisted himself, and i can’t see him dropping his job and his life to stop supporting his family just so he can go and fight, but so few people treat it with dignity. it was a damn war from christs sake. people romanticise it so much with “but there’s so much angst potential!” like veterans both during the war and after it were notoriously treated horribly. they weren’t really seen as heroes by many because america had lost the war. i hate making such a comparison but there were even songs made about it like listen to the born in the usa album by bruce springsteen, there’s plenty about it. it just feels so gross to see people woobifying literal war in order to make extreme angst. dying in war isn’t funny or cute. being in war isn’t funny or cute. it gets to a point where yall are just being insensitive assholes about actual war vets.

same thing with abuse, like it’s borderline cringy in fanfics to read stuff about the gang being all “baby…talk to me…” or whatever. first off they’re teenage boys, and i don’t think most teenage boys really know what to say/do in emotional situations and secondly, it’s just a fact of life that johnny and steve get treated like shit at home. the gang wouldn’t really do anything about it aside from patch them up and offer food/shelter and in two’s case, tell at johnny’s abuser, but they’re not gonna force them to talk about it. johnny and steve are probably very uncomfortable talking about their abuse and such which is understandable, but the gang isn’t gonna try and force it out of them. maybe they would if it was really really bad but other than that i doubt they really want to push either of them on it. it’s just a fact of life.

the last thing is things like mental health and addiction. i don’t think people realize how tough addiction is, and babying pony’s addiction to painkillers is genuinely horrific. like addiction is extremely serious and not to get personal but it runs in my family, and i’ve seen how people with addictions act sometimes. it’s not cute and it’s certainly not funny. same thing with two bits dependence with alcohol. it’s extremely sad, and it’s more sad when you realize these things weren’t readily dealt with back then. mental health too, like fandom in general tends to make serious things like suicidal ideation and self harm out to be cute little hurt/comfirt, angst time things. i get people use it to vent—i’ve done the same thing. but can we treat it sensitively rather than just be like “oh it’s another silly scenario!”. it’s not funny and i’d never wish it upon my worst enemy.

i’ll admit that i’ve had my screw ups and have treated sensitive things insensitively in the past in favor of angst. i have no problem admitting that, but i’ve stopped doing that. it gets to a point where people water down serious things because “he’s just a silly little guy who i want to torture 🥺” like sure, hardcore angst may not be my cup of tea, but if you like it then whatever. but please don’t treat real things like abuse and mental health and sexual harassment/abuse and selling one’s body and literal war like “cutesy things that are so silly and goofy!” they’re not. i’m not saying you can’t have fun or shouldn’t write about these things, but you should treat it sensitively. stop woobifying serious things in favor of angst.

A/N) guess whos back from the dead! its been a long month, a lot of stuff happened in my personal life with some friends. but i'm back, and its time to obsess over men who are way older than me again! also i read over this like once before i posted it, so i would not say it was proofread very well

Working at Smosh is a dream. You spend all day with your favorite people, your whole job is to watch, film, and edit videos of your friends goofing around, and you met your best friend there. You started as an editor for Smosh Pit, then eventually moved up to whatever videos they needed you for, and now make regular appearances in many videos across the channels. Spencer had been an editor there for a couple of years before you started, but you two became fast friends. Now known as one of the dynamic duos of the office, there are various videos and edits of the two of you. 

Things were great, but there was one teensy, tiny, small problem. You were in love with your best friend. And that scared you– a lot. So you did what any normal person would do in this situation: avoid him! If you stayed away long enough, the feelings would disappear, right? Wrong. Not only did the feelings not go away, but you were just sad now. 

You yearned to tell Spencer about your day, about the squirrel outside your apartment building, the new game you picked up, and how your coffee had an uneven cream-to-coffee ratio. The little things you always updated him about that made your friendship so special. You weren’t the only one who was affected by the distance; the people in the office could tell that something was wrong with both of you. Spencer’s usual witty comments were appearing less and less, your laughter wasn’t as prominent, and you weren’t hanging around the games pod as much as you usually do. 

Angela and Courtney decided to take matters into their own hands after the fourth day in a row of awkward tension and longing glances. The two had cornered you after lunch on Friday, finding you at a table in the back by yourself, Spencer not in his usual spot by your side. 

“Something happened between you and Spencer, and you need to spill now,” Courtney sat down on your left, Angela on your right. 

“Jeez, nice to see you two, too.” You roll your eyes as you shuffle around your food with your fork.

“No, but seriously, did he say something stupid? I’ll kick his ass, or like, delete all of his progress on like Resident Evil or something.” Angela offers, folding her arms on the table as she leans closer. 

“He didn’t do anything wrong, guys. It’s stupid, and it doesn’t matter.” You attempt to avoid their questions and stares, attempt being the key word.

“(Y/N), the tension between you two has been so strong that even Trevor has picked up on it, and he’s terrible at reading the room. No offense to Trev. So tell us what’s going on, or we will lock the two of you in the costume closet until you figure it out.” Courtney stands their ground, eyebrows raised in challenge as she expects you to fight back and deny that anything is wrong.

You let out a sigh, your fork falling with a small thud. “I…I’m in love with Spencer, but I know that he obviously doesn’t feel the same, so I figured that putting space between us would allow me to get over this stupid crush.” You mumble in embarrassment, embarrassed to admit that you’re in love with Spencer, but also embarrassed at how stupid your plan sounds out loud. 

Courtney is about to respond when the sound of a dropped plate is heard behind them…Spencer. Courtney and Angela share a wide-eyed look before a silent agreement is made between them, and they both get up, making some excuse about call times. Spencer takes Courtney’s spot. 

“You…you love me?” His voice is soft, a tone only used with you.

You keep your gaze down, not wanting to look at him, “yeah, I mean…how could I not? You’re so kind, and thoughtful, and effortlessly witty and funny. I love just listening to you nerd out about whatever game or movie you’ve recently seen, even if I don’t understand half of what you’re saying. And you…you get me, and we just click so well, and you’re my best friend…but that’s all we are, best friends. So, I thought that if I put space between us, then my feelings would go away, but it hasn’t been working, and now I’m still in love and I miss you…” You trail off, realizing you just word vomited every thought in your head.

Spencer stares at you, processing everything you just spewed at him. “I…I love you too,” he finally manages to respond.

Your eyes widen, heart stopping for a moment, “You do?”

“Yeah, since like…Apocalypse, we stayed up for so long editing those videos. And you…god, you get so giggly when you're tired, and I remember you laughing at some terrible bit Shayne made in the TNTL, and I fell in love at that moment…” Spencer’s hand finds yours on the table.

You finally lift your eyes to meet his, “so…if I suggested we go out to dinner on Saturday?”

“I think it’s my job to ask you that,” he quips, the familiar banter falling into place, as natural as breathing.

You let out a small laugh, your nerves easing. “Well, if you ask, I think my answer would be yes.”

“Yeah? So that Italian place you’ve been begging to go to, Saturday, 7? I’ll pick you up, take you on a proper date, and if you’re good…you might get a goodnight kiss.” A smirk makes its way across his face.

“It’s a date,” you confirm with a smile. So maybe avoiding the guy you’re madly in love with wasn’t the best idea, but hey, it still worked out. You definitely owe Courtney and Angela coffees now, maybe a week's worth.

I so desperately need to see more folks write abt the inherent dynamic of how Cygate is like. a very much mutual, back-and-forth protective relationship. They protect /eachother/ and I think that thats such an important part of it all. Tailgate gets dumbed down a lot but he’s soooo far from stupid or plainly naive, his naivety comes from his optimistic attitude and lack of experience with more extreme situations. But he’s so fucking smart, and hes a stubborn lil’ shit, and he’s gathered every bit of how Cyclonus works and keeps it all in mind for whenever something happens and the guy /needs/ someone who /gets/ him to step in.

The “See, that wasn’t so difficult.” line speaks soooo many words. He’s so fucking patient man, if there’s one thing he has oodles of experience with it’s the passage of time having to be spent for a Good Outcome. That’s sorta what the whole arc of that development was about, showing what /he/ is willing to do. They are equal in what they give and take. They’re anchors for eachother and I NEED more of that it’s like my favorite thing to see in art and writing of them. They’re going to make me so ill i genuinely teared up writing this wtf

Maybe unpopular opinion but I don't hate Celine. She was shoved into the role of a mother with little to no prep or warning or choice in the matter. And she took this role as someone who had been taught to kill and shun all demons, someone who had just lost her best friend. And maybe she wasn't ready to be a mom! Maybe she never wanted to be a mom!

I'm not denying that her parenting style had negative effects on Rumi. A lot of her actions were harmful (because she's a human being that makes mistakes), but have you guys stopped to put yourselves in her shoes? She was terrified of what would happen to herself and Rumi if they were open about her being a demon; she swore to protect all that was left of Rumi's mother, and she saw the truth as a threat to that protection; yes, she has her prejudices, but unlike most humans, she actually knows what demons are. Can you imagine what would happen if a human who didn't know what demons were had to raise a half demon child?

Yes, all Celine really knew about demons was how to recognise and kill them, but she still put that aside and did her best to raise a half demon child and give her a good life, and she guided Rumi down the best path she knew of to "fix" her patterns; she wanted Rumi to be in control of this solution, even if Celine was the one who put her down the path.

She loved Rumi, and although that doesn't excuse all that she did, I think we need to be a bit more forgiving of this woman, considering that she went against all of her teachings in order to protect Rumi. So just. Have a think, and maybe look at the bigger picture for a moment. Maybe Celine isn't the monster you're all making her out to be, maybe she's just a woman who went through some tough shit. Anyways. Justice for my girl Celine she didn't want any of this and I think she did a great job considering her past and what she could've done instead.

part of the appeal of a jason & rose team up to me is that they are so similar personality-wise but they are soooo different in their approach to crimefighting in the sense that jason is a meticulous planner and rose does not plan more than 10 minutes ahead. jason spends weeks putting together every aspect of their plan and backup plans in case something goes wrong just for rose to ruin it by going "im gonna kick down this door and see if anyones behind it"

I will say that I am extremely sorry for bringing my discussion of this situation to my blog where I'm aware that none of my followers (save for like... 4 friends who I already talk about how much I hate Dream) really want to see, but I do just want to rant about how purely disgusting this man has been as of late.

We all become aware of yet another victim of his, an underaged fan that he was acting sexually towards (a 16-17 year old whilst he was 20), someone who has contacted the proper authorities and after contacting them, posted video proof that Dream had sent the victim a SnapChat video of him moaning and saying that he wants to "fill (them) up", and says previously that Dream was in possession of CSEM, and he calls the person calling him out an "not mentally stable individual" and that "it's from a person who hates (his) guts" because 1) of course he would default to saying "oh she's crazy don't believe her" that every perpetrator loves to say, and 2) of course the kid you were acting sexual towards hates your guts. Of course a friend of someone whom you sexted when they were 16-17 and you 20 would hate your guts. That is typical behaviour of a friend — my friends hate my sexual abusers' guts. I would be upset if they didn't.

He actually confirms that he had contact with this teen, says that they "were in an awkward and weird relationship with (his) ex-girlfriend" — who is known for... also grooming his underaged fans to get sexual material from them — and still tries to paint himself as the victim. He says, verbatim, "I made the mistake of being intimate with with this completely above age friend years ago, and haven't talked to them in years", however the individual is currently 20. A few years ago, when he still had contact with his ex, the victim would have been 16-17. He doesn't deny that this happened, does not write it off, and yet still says that it is only being brought up to "kick him while (he's) down". He is a truly despicable individual, and it's sickening that he still has millions of fans whom will stay defending him, and whom still actively defend him even now. He said that the middleman (the person who made the burner account/talking publicly about it) screen recorded the video yesterday, however the victim had these videos back in 2019, when they would have been underaged.

He makes "jokes" about he, himself, liking minors, even with all this being known. The first time someone came forward, he said that it was the individual hating him. The second time, it was accusing them of defamation. This time, it's "they want to kick me while I'm down". He is vile. And this is not even counting everything else we already know about him.

I do need,, HCQ revisited at some point. Doesn’t even have to be in any main story, I honestly just need more HCQ readables because those are some of the most enjoyment I’ve gotten out of Honkai Star Rail. Baiheng’s Travelogue to the Zhuming chANGED MY LIFE and sewed the seeds for an obsession that is far too unhealthy to the point I am in the process of wasting my money to make a Blade ita bag. And it was a single readable that started me spiralling into this obsession and made me motivated to read more readables and character stories and etc.

I need another Baiheng travelogue… here’s to praying we get another if we end up on the Yaoqing soon, in general heres to hoping for more BH lore on the Yaoqing since apparently she’s from a very prominent family on that ship.

I just really need more HCQ crumbs because as much as I love them, their in game dynamics are so underdeveloped. Yes, we have a lot of Dan Feng and Yingxing, but a lot is very vague, and we have to mostly make assumptions with the little crumbs we have. Baiheng and Jingliu also have a lot set up, but I really need more content of them because my god, we barely know anything bout their dynamic too. We mostly have the aftermath and Jingliu’s grief, but I want to know about their happiness so her prolonged mourning hits even harder by knowing exactly what she lost. Jing Yuan and Jingliu probably have the most show upfront dynamic mostly due to the animated short, but the knowledge of Jing Yuan’s dynamics with the rest of them are practically nonexistent outside of that one line about Yingxing and Jing Yuan bickering and sad looks he has that really don’t hit as hard in my opinion because we don’t have the context.

And personally out of all the dynamics I want more content more, I think I want Jing Yuan and Baiheng content the most. The lines he has when he visits the Express that are about her are my saving grace, I am the biggest advocate for these to have a very sweet familial kind of bond and messing around together causing all kinds of trouble. Bonus points if they get Yingxing along for the ride with them. But we have crumbs only 😭 we only have itty bitty crumbs and I am starving

I have a lot of my own views about what I hc their dynamics as due to what we know, but god I want to see what their dynamics in canon are supposed to be. I ranted so much about how I see Dan Feng and Yingxing’s potential dynamic, but even with that, I wanna know. I wanna know about Jingliu and Yingxing, to add even more pain to how their dynamic is now (which hehehe… I have some ideas for this specific topic, but I want canon stuff too not just my own hcs). I wanna see just exactly what Jingliu lost when Baiheng died, what in Baiheng and the way she treated her made her so devastated as to promise to cut down the stars from the sky (which? Is that? Potentially a code for something else like the current plan she has regarding a certain aeon?), like Jingliu was so clearly devastated and tormented by Baiheng’s death, still is 700 years later and we don’t know what about her made it so painful. Yes Baiheng was clearly kind as she’s been established, but just how was she kind to Jingliu? I have my own assumptions and conclusions given what we know about both, but even then it’s still something pretty completely fabricated in my head because we don’t have enough!!
