I think something overlooked in Code Geass is Lelouche versus Charles's conformation in C's world. Mostly because they started spewing weird questionable philosophy and esoteric nonsense and we already have a lot of themes and relationships to deal with at that point.
Charles and Marianne wish for a world without lies, because if nobody hides anything, everyone will accept and love everyone else. However Lelouche opposes them, saying that people need lies and masks to survive. One would think in Charles's ideal world of bliss nobody would have to hide behind a mask to survive anyway, so Lelouche's point makes no sense. However Charles is an emperor, THE emperor. He may say he despises lies or whatever but the one people must lie to the most is to him. He has power, ever since he crawled to that bloody throne nobody could dare to say something he dislikes to his face. He's the main symbol of fear. As Lelouche points out, Charles's wish to eliminate lies comes from privilege.
The same can be said about Lelouche though. Unlike Charles his younger years weren't faced with struggle, but he later had to grow up using mask after mask after mask. Lelouche (and pretty much everyone in this show) loves to use grand politics and ideologies to make their personal thoughts sound more justified, in truth, nobody knows if Charlie's hypothetical utopia could actually work. But Lelouche rejects it because it's contrary to everything he does and is. He can't conceive HIMSELF in a world without lies, so he has to reject it.
For me, the final piece that ended up breaking the tie (CC joining Lelouche's side), wasn't her seeing Charles's and Marianne's hypocrisy, they can be hypocrites and still have a point. CC's change of mind comes from the interaction itself. In C's world, what Lelouche and Charles have done is tell each other's truths. Finally without armies and empires and weapons and politics in the mix, a father and his son say what they've always wanted to say to each other, masks off. And yet, they don't agree, they don't forgive and Charles doesn't stop being cruel and Lelouche doesn't stop being hurt. Their truths, even to the barest of bones, are opposed. What CC sees is that somehow, in this world without lies, Lelouche will still hate and curse Charles.
This has happened before, when Lelouche confronted Charles about his mother's death, using his honesty as a 7 year old, saying things exactly as he believes they are. And Charles rejects it. He responds with lies and insults, flaunting his power and influence. He rejected the truth he didn't agree with then and he'll always reject it, because he's always been able to. That utopic world he wants to create is a world he would reject if it actually came true.
Of course I'm ignoring the fact that they probably used "a world without masks and lies" as some sort of Evangelion instrumentality and Dungeon Meshi Demon bliss type thing. But nonetheless the arguments given for that ideal world crumble the moment you just stop and look at who's saying them. And maybe the arguments against that ideal world also fall apart in the same manner. But that's what I like about Code Geass, hypocrisy over hypocrisy over hypocrisy, until personal and political and ideological are so intertwined you can't find one without the other.

OOOH THE PERI RESPONDED :D
The Scott and Cleo getting married for tax benefits is firstly: just good? since Scott does Not want to be too close to anyone Not Chill abt villains so he's just straight up not dating.
it's actually really sad for Scott and Cleo when you look at it from an outside perspective of "damn, theyve altered their entire lives to fit Pearl's life" and... yeah. that is what it is. It's sort of a parallel/statement to people who break their backs to keep their parents or like bio family in their lives even though it restricts them from doing what they want. Also Scott and Cleo have thought over this several times. And while Scott and Pearl rejected the soulbond at like 18/19 (she's a year older than him), they've been adults for a while now and they have civil conversations. And Scott does stand for Pearl's major end goals, just not her ways of doing it.
But the issue between Scott and Pearl (I fucking LOVE thinking about their dynamic because it's so bloody complicated) is that Scott cares about Pearl, and Pearl does Not care about Scott. Other than keeping him alive (bc then she'll die), she doesn't give two shits about him. However, she trusts Scott. But Scott doesn't trust her, because why the fuck should he.
Like, yes, he hears all her thoughts, but he doesn't trust her in the sense that he is On Edge around her constantly. ALSO IVE ACCIDENTALLY DONE THAT BUT THAT'S PART OF MY HEADCANON FOR THE LIFE SERIES
Pearl trusts more people than she cares for. Scott cares for more people than he trusts. The amount of people Scott trusts are about on par with the amount that Pearl trusts.
I'm so fucking obsessed with them it rivals Joel and Etho. Or Joel and Joel. Speaking of I need to write that and make them kiss. they haven't kissed yet. Joel and Joel need to kiss. they're probably gonna make out courtesy of cc!GeminiTay but yeah
Anyways Scott and Cleo getting married for tax benefits is directly inspired by Tubbo and Ranboo in dsmp. But also there's no one else they'd rather be with. And no one else they could be with. And also they love each other to death.
I'm so proud of Evo Elementary. It's directly inspired by my elementary school, at least in vibes and size (while I was going). It's a very small school. Literally only Evo gang and some random filler mfers and also Lizzie went there.
It also got shut down immediately after Jimmy graduated. Because of cult activities. The Watchers. idk if I said that in the other one, but yeah. Essentially, they were getting taught by Watcher followers. Not the Watchers themselves, since those are like actual gods, but like. cult followers.
I GOTTA DO MY DUOLINGO BEFORE I FUCKING LOSE MY STREAK HOLD ON
right. I've done it. also I high-key wanna quit but I'm in too far now. bro. I'm almost at a year. I can't stop now. which means I can't ever stop because it'll take another year to get to here. like. anyways.
BACK TO STUFF
Also I STILL HAVENT WATCHED THE REST OF ASMP. EVEN THOUGH ITS FUCKING CRUCIAL TO GUQQIE'S CHARACTER WHICH IS LITERALLY IMPORTANT AS FUCK. BECAUSE IT'S ASMP!GUQQIE AND ASMP!AIMSEY. AND I JUST DON'T FUCKING KNOW THEIR STORY. BECAUSE. IM FUCKIN LAZY OR SMTH
or maybe I'm just not hyperfixated on watching content rn. like. I could watch Life, but I'm not--ooh that reminded me of the cereal. god I haven't had cereal in so long. I used to eat cereal every day for breakfast and then in Covid I got sick of it and broke my literal years long streak
hey like duolingo
eh
nah
Anyways the Life cereal is good but if it gets too soggy it's ass because the sugar pieces fall off and also it's literally mush.
also do you cereal and then milk or milk and then cereal. because cereal and then milk is the only correct answer. you can milk and then cereal if you have leftover milk from your first cereal but you must do it in that order. cereal, milk, then cereal. maybe more milk if you need it. cereal if you want more. keep circling. until you're full. om nom nom
anyways.
Jimmy is four years younger than the rest of the gang (Grian, Scott, Cleo, Mumbo, Lizzie) and five years younger than Pearl. I just didn't want to write him into EEP bc I'm lazy
Also he meets Tango when he goes to Hermit Academy. Tango's a year older. also it's not rude at all I'm very interested in your questions and it's all good and I love it :D
Well Pearl doesn't actually rob people, is the thing. She and Martyn (and Lizzie. And BEST+TIES. And Grian) have day jobs.
Pearl is a CEO. She is the boss, under the alias of Luna Syzygy. I forgot what the last name means. I think it's something about Eclipse or smth? it's something about the moon and sun bc skyblings. y'know.
Anyways Pearl runs this redstone electricity company (oddly fitting since she made the wordle. like I made her this WAYY before that happened.) and Bdubs, Impulse, Etho, Tango, Skizz, and Lizzie are all employed there.
Bdubs (idk if he does redstone) is employed because it also semi works as an architecture thing because they need an architect to understand how buildings work so that they can put the wiring in there. Sometimes Mumbo shows up, but mostly he sticks to his own thing. Pearl also does architecture, which is why she's the CEO. She also founded the company.
Did I mention that it's called Lunar Enterprises? Also the top floors are the order of operations for villainy, but like. it's literally just BESTIES' and Pearl's offices.
Lizzie's the front desk secretary. She likes chatting with people and also being a massive BITCH to whoever doesn't care enough to respect her.
Hold on I'ma make a list of jobs
Bdubs - architect of Lunar Enterprises
BigB - Hero (heroes get paid bc it's government funded blah blah blah)
Etho - redstoner of Lunar Enterprises
Gem - Hero
Grian - he's like a carpenter thing person
Scar - Hero
Impulse - redstone engineer of Lunar Enterprises
Martyn - works in some sort of customer service. or some type of supervisor at something. I really don't know
Lizzie - secretary of Lunar Enterprises
Mumbo - electrician but redstone. and also inventor
Pearl - CEO of Lunar Enterprises
Ren - Hero
Skizz - moral support of Lunar Enterprises, probably also a teacher or smth. BAND TEACHER. yep
Scott - surgeon
Joel - loves his wife. civil engineer and works to make roads and shit work
Jimmy - uhhh vibes. literally no idea. art coach. private art lessons. or maybe some sort of sports. but art. OMG FILM EDITING. yes
Tango - redstone engineer at Lunar Enterprises
Cleo - college (university for the Brits) professor
why are there no women in stem I've made a horrible mistake
actually Pearl is CEO which means she's a redstoner, redstone engineer, and also an architect. so I've helped myself out there.
Cleos a history prof btw. but is also just Good aka she knows science and math and just everything bc I said so
I would make Scott god awful at math courtesy to cc except he's a fucking surgeon
oh yeah Scott gets his soul back dw. it just takes it while Pearl's using it which is very very bad and it does actually slowly debilitate at his soul (def used that word wrong)
GOTTA EXTEND DUOLINGO BRB
okay I'm back and I've done more than extend Duolingo but we're back
it doesn't have... incredibly lasting effects? like Pearl taking Scotts soul power shit. but like. it's like a muscle. the more you use it, the faster it's used to it
the first time which is the one you did fanart for, it wasn't actually that bad. it took a lot, but it was pretty easy to regenerate.
But Pearl kept using Scott's soul as a backup and it regenerated less and less and Scott was anxious as hell because he needed to use his soul too. (it doesn't get used nearly as much when you're the one using your own soul, bc that's what it's built for. it's not built for over extension [which is what Scar doss--] but it's def built for you to use. 24/7, even, but you have to work up to that)
that's so unclear I'm so sorry
also I haven't read wof lol
i read the first book and then the first two chapters of the second bc all my friends were OBSESSED
And like other than the dragons. actually it was pretty cool it just wasn't really. my style ig? like the politics of it are actually interesting when I think about it and I- ah I didn't like the characters that much. hm.
being reflective as I've gotten older has been very interesting imo because it lets me figure out WHY I don't like stuff
like I used to not like onions "because they taste bad". and then I learned what texture was and I was like "they're an awful fucking texture and they should die" and I am right on that
anyways which dragon type (breed? idk seawing, Nightwing, mudwing, etc you literally know 100000x more than I do) do you think I would be and can I get a basic description of it? that'd be cool. also cool if you don't lol
I need to ask that hermit permit blog to do that that'd be cool.
like the ask would go "hi! can I have a permit that allows soul horizon!Cleo and Scott to brew potions? thanks!"
no but imagine. OH MY GOD
so bench trio (TommyInnit, Tubbo, and Ranboo, idk if you had a dsmp phase/hyperfixation/lifestyle/it doesn't fucking ever leave you) are Cleo's students. just imagine Tommy getting surgery for smth (let's say appendicitis because I dont wanna give him heart issues but anyways whatever) and then one day Cleo brings Scott to class and she's like "hi this is my husband we got married platonically we're soulmates"
and Tommy is literally exploding inside because what the fuck this guy has seen my inner organs
OH MY GOD NO I MADE THE "LITERALLY EXPLODING INSIDE" AFTER I DECIDED IT WAS APPENDICITIS AND I STILL DIDNT REALIZE THE IRONY LMAO NOO
anyways Scott isn't even a main character rip
he's barely fucking relevant to the main story rip
Lizzie is not 10 ft tall as Riptide but that would be funny as fuck. She does use Guise Magic (it's just magic but people wanted to call it something) (it's for disguises) to make her fairy wings look more webbed
Lizzie's a fairy fae. because fae is like a huge overarching creature that encompasses fuck all with pointed ears. (Scott is an elf fae, scar is a vex fae and an elf fae, idk who else)
Soulmates and not soulmates are both normal. it's pretty 50/50, except soulmates need two people, so it's actually more like 67/33
because it's around one non-soulmate person to each soulmate pair
which is not canon because we have seven soulmate pairs and four non-soulmate ppl in the Life series but whatever
THANK YOU FOR THE QUESTIONS PERIIIII
Psst Royal
Do you wanna rant about anymore soul horizon lore? I would like to hear about soul horizon lore if you wanna ramble :D
Also would you like to read the essay I wrote about llkau Pearl's psychological truama and manipulation from her mother?
yes I am always down to rant about soul horizon lore. also YES I WANT PEARLS PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA HEHEHEHEHEHEH
Anyways hello. I am normal sized again wow.
Okay so personally--FUCK I HAVE A MEGA STUPID ASSIGNMENT IM GONNA NEED TO DEAL WITH THAT IN SOME AMOUNT OF TIME--i have recently been obsessed with soul horizon divorcée quartet.
THEYRE. SO FUCKING SPECIAL TO ME. BECAUSE THEYRE LOSERS
OMG OMG I NEED TO EXPLAIN THE EEP
WE DONT CARE ABOUT THE EEP WE CARE ABOUT SCOTT AND CLEO AND PEARL AND MARTYN
Scott and Cleo are canonically married. why did I do this, you may ask? tax benefits. and they were living with each other anyways. and also idk how marriage licenses work but it makes the pay a whole lot like even-er because Scott's a doctor and Cleo's a teacher
Well they're a college professor. idk how much more college professors get paid and I am too lazy to google it
hold on actually
ok so according to the first results: 96k to 300k per year which makes the second result so fucking sad like. the second result is 30k-97k a year. like. rip
compared to high school teachers: 45k-100k per year. Jesus Christ. and then the second result is 38k-46k.
rip teachers honestly
AYY SCOTT IS LOADED. I THINK. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH SHIT COSTS I HAVE NO LIFE EXPERIENCE I AM A BLOB FLOATING IN THE WIND DESPERATELY CLINGING TO LIFE
330k-630k. Yahoo. scott has it good. he's a surgeon because... I said so. he's like a surgeon but also a doctor. I think. mostly a surgeon tho but I am going to call him a doctor for the rest of this because in my mind he wears the coats. like a lab person. with cyan hair
SO. WHERE DO WE ACTUALLY BEGIN WITH THE LORE.
Well. It starts in elementary school. I... don't actually have lore for Cleo and Scott for this part but I do for Pearl and Martyn! So Pearl and Martyn are the same age, and they went to Evolution Elementary and Middle. They're in the same building. People just call it Evo
Also Jimmy barely made it through that school bc the year after he graduated it got shut down bc it was hosting cult activities. hmmm. weird
All the Evo gang went to Evo Elementary. shocker. And Lizzie.
And then they graduated, and they went to Hermit High Academy. Which I love. All the Hermits are there, except for Joel and Skizz (THEY WEREN'T HERMITS WHEN THIS STARTED AND ID ALREADY DONE THIS BACKSTORY), Cleo (she was at EEP), Gem, and Scar.
Also EEP stands for Empires Education Program. I love the EEP. All Empires people went there.
The two significant years-
hold on hold on hold on. okay. so.
Year order. we need this
also my sibling once told me that I text like someone with ADHD and I cannot help but feel like that's relevant here.
hello it is now a completely different day and place (I'm at the kitchen table and it is midnight)
(It has been thirty minutes I'm in my bed again and I am going to fall asleep. I need to take my meds. I have now taken my meds. now if I wanted to I could just fall asleep. I'm gonna keep talking here.)
In the Empires Education Program (which is referred to by people who want to mock it and also the attendees of it as the eep. Others say Empires or E E P (separated letters)) there are two years of people attending that we care about.
Everyone that was in Empires or SOS, minus False, Pearl, Jimmy, and Gem is part of the EEP.
The secondary year we care about (the grade below) has Oli, Owen, Mog, Eloise, and a few others unnamed (prolly from Witchcraft) because I refuse to make this class smaller than Magic School Bus's.
Everyone (minus Pearl, Jimmy, and Gem) in Empires S1 is in the first year of EEP. The second year has everyone else (minus False) that was in Empires S2 and SOS.
The primary year we care about (the most plot relevant people are here) has Scott, Cleo, Lizzie, Joel, Shelby, Katherine, fWhip, Pix, Sausage, and Joey. You might notice that Cleo is in here, and they are not part of this group. Cleo is in here because I said so. Also I needed a place for her to be besties with Scott. And Cleo would be a great addition to this crew, just saying.
... genuinely it is a completely different day and I am in a separate building and I have no idea what my ultimatum here was
Anyways. Martyn is a vigilante, Pearl's a villain, Scott's a doctor, and Cleo's a professor.
The funny thing that I'm absolutely in love with is how they semi get along. but mostly don't.
see. Scott and Pearl had that whole scene where Pearl literally ran out of magic and started ripping it out of Scott's soul. Magic is part of your soul, so it comes from a similar place as your soulbond.
And so Scott and Pearl have a well justified rivalry. And also after they broke the soulbond -- OH I JUST REMEMBERED THE REALLY FUNNY SHIT -- they both became Worthy, Scott significantly earlier than Pearl.
I still gotta explain the Worthy thing dammit
Anyways the really funny shit is that normally, when you reject your soulbond, you essentially function exactly the same as a person without a soulbond except you've got a weird tattoo, and you will die at the same moment that they do.
EXCEPT the divorce quartet are part of the Eighteen (which irl are just the life series members), and this means that the rejection doesn't work. It works at first, and Pearl and Scott have silent minds for the first time ever, and then they hear the slight whisper of the other one's voice and just. they're suffering.
It's funny as fuck, imo, because I'm the sadist author that makes the characters suffer. hehe
essentially, the telepathy hurts more after they rejected it than before. And also they also have the normal consequence of "if the one dies, then the other one dies too" which normal soulmates don't have.
But because of the rejection not working, the four of them realized that they're Winners. And they all figure out that they're Winners because Pearl believes that Mortality mythology (aka life series canon events) is real.
And Martyn was like "hah Pearl you're crazy"
and Pearl straight up goes "Jimmy's the Canary"
and the three of them stare at Pearl
because EVERYONE has heard the legend of the canary. It doesn't fucking matter who you are.
And Cleo's straight up like "holy shit"
And Scott knew the entire time bc he shares a brain with Pearl except he semi didn't believe it but he knew that Pearl believed it
But now they figure out that Scott is the Stars (2nd winner), Pearl is the Moon (3rd winner), Martyn is Mars/water/The Tower (4th winner), and Cleo is Pluto/fire/Death (6th winner).
And then perhaps Grian just walks out of the house and is like what're y'all talking about.
And then Pearl just stares at him. because she remembers what his soulmark is.
It's the sun and the earth. which is the missing duo of winners.
and Pearl is like. Grian. You're a winner.
and Grian's like "wtf are you on"
"like of mortality mythology"
"wat"
Scott: so is he the sun or the earth
Pearl: probably the sun. have you seen that face
Grian: wtf
Martyn: welcome to divorce club, Grian
Pearl: Martyn stfu
Martyn: yeah I'm scared of you so I will actually do that
Also Martyn and Pearl are besties
also I gotta write the scene where they divorce bc it's actually rly cute. not like Scott&Pearl and Martyn&Cleo but like. Scott and Martyn are cute. And Pearl and Cleo are cute. And Cleo and Scott<3 and Martyn and Pearl are like besties. so.
yeah
they. them. they're the perfect combination of like. a lot of shit. because all of them are morally gray.
hey that's almost my name
My name is actually a play on the phrase "morally gray", fun fact
Since Pearl is literally a villain. Martyn is a more hero aligned vigilante. Scott and Cleo, while being civilians, do actively help Pearl by giving her potions and shit since she and Martyn can go to the Nether to get the ingredients, and Scott and Cleo have a permit to brew potions.
Like. Scott and Cleo are like passive and will not get outed in the grand scheme, but technically they break the law daily. And I love them so much for that. Like. They know WAYYY too much to be civilians. Not even JOEL knows as much, and he's the motherfucking husband of Riptide, who is the sister of Scarlet AND Sparrow. AND the Canary.
Anyways. Um. If you want to ask any clarifying questions, I would be more than happy to answer those.
This was rly incoherent and I'm sorry abt that but y'know :D
THANK YOU PERI @periwinklepaint FOR THE ASK :D :D

Seen a lot of stuff about big creators tracking their patrons and stuff etc. it’s definitely making people think twice about downloading cc from Patreon and that’s completely valid. I’ve already said this on my insta and I’ll say it on here so it doesn’t look like I’m being silent cuz I’m rlly not I just don’t post a lot on here lmfao.
Although I am a creator who does early access for my poses, I will always make it available after a week or two, most of the time it’s like 5-7 days. I do not track any of my patrons, hell if I was smart enough to do that I’d get a job with that skill lmao, jokes aside the whole situation in general is so messed up. This is a sims game and other people shouldn’t be ruining it OR breaking the law?! I even thought about just removing my tiers altogether since even tho the prices are set very low, I still feel bad for charging most of the time. The only reason I started Patreon personally, was because of the whole Simsdom (now Simsfinds) issue so I could sort of have a barrier for a certain amount of time. I didn’t want to go private like discord yk, I still wanted to share my creations without them up my ass.
What’s worse is that long time creators who we put our trust into was literally doing all of this shady stuff, which is just hurtful and once again, messed up. And all so that their content wasn’t leaked? Maybe don’t charge an arm and a leg for cc, and I’ve seen some creators prices which were ridiculously high like I’m talking you could buy a whole meal with that money yk. I get it’s very difficult and time consuming to learn how to make different things that’ll work properly in the game and make it look visually appealing but there’s a certain line where you just don’t cross. People work very hard for their money and when they decided to spend it on cc that you charge a hefty price for, you should be so grateful instead of doxxing them and tracking them?! It’s disgusting behaviour and it just sets a bad example, in fact it drags all of us under the bus.
This whole thing has made me not want to associate with any of this, I promise not all creators are like this. I mean I hope not otherwise that’s just awful and something needs to be done, something should be done in general tbh. Idk where I’m going to go from this issue, idk if I should remove tiers or just leave it, most of anything I earn is just for commission of pose requests (for my time I guess, kinda like when you do art commissions) and support which I’m very grateful for. My heart goes out to everyone who’s been effected by this hot mess, from now on I guess we all just have to be extra careful with who we pledge to. I also had to unpledge to a creator who I used their cc decor for my builds because I thought they were so good and detailed, now it just annoys me that they were doing that and could have my info like— crazy shit.
We haven’t even gotten half way through 2022 yet and it’s already pretty much a train wreck. I literally can’t be bothered at this rate, somebody send me on a rocket to Mars istg.

THE NUMBER LADS ARE STILL HERE!!
Some of these chapters might be uh... less than consistent with the actual chronology of TCW but that's what they get when they don't air the episodes in order! (Read Part 1 and Part 2!)
CT-2222 = Do-si-do = Double Trouble
CT-3333 = Trees = Leafs
ARC-5555 = Fives (duh) = high fives
ARC-1409 = Echo (honorary number lad) = BetterDomino
CC-6666 = Sixes/Death = DEATH
ARC-7777 = Sevenset = RedBoiiiii
CT-8888 = Loops = Loopy
Trees had almost forgotten about the Numbers meeting. Honestly, the only thing reminding him of the day of the week was his own internal clock. A lot had happened, okay? Geonosis was never “fun” for anyone, and he was just glad it was over. His general and commander had both nearly died there--which was only a first for Commander Offee, because that had been the second campaign to Geonosis, and that wasn’t even including the damn brain worms--kriffing sithspit he needed a nap.
But a nap would wait until he could tell the others he was okay. Fortunately, he’d set a reminder for it, so at least he wouldn’t be getting half a dozen comms from Sevenset or Do-si-do about being late. The rest of his squadron was sound asleep by the time the meeting was supposed to start, so out of courtesy, Trees walked to the mess hall, which, at this time, was all but empty. One or two others milled about, looking just as exhausted as Trees felt. He took a seat in one corner, setting the holoprojector on the table and waiting for the transmission to start.
And trying not to fall asleep.
Sevenset started the meeting, Fives and Echo standing beside him like they had last month. They were approaching graduation by now, weren’t they?
“Hey, Trees,” Sevenset smiled.
“Hi.”
“How was bug world?” Fives asked.
Trees gave them a deadpan stare. “How do you think? I’m sure your friends in Torrent have plenty of stories.” The 501st had also been on Geonosis--their Commander Tano had been with Commander Offee onboard the medical transport infested with kriffing brain worms.
Echo smirked. “Yeah, we heard General Skywalker and Commander Tano threw Captain Rex off a building.”
“They did what?” Loops had appeared just as Echo had started speaking.
“Yeah, they’ve done it a lot, apparently,” Fives nodded.
“Kinda sad I missed it,” his batcher said.
“Devastated.”
Trees blinked slowly. “You aren’t. Believe me.”
Sevenset chuckled. “Yeah, you look like you’re falling asleep over there.”
Trees rubbed his face. “Yeah well,” he sighed, resting his chin on his hand, “when your general and commander nearly die twice on the same campaign, and somehow it involves mind controlling parasites, you’d be a little tired.”
The other four all raised their eyebrows at him. Before they had time to ask questions, however, a third hologram appeared. Trees recognized Do-si-do instantly, sitting at a table instead of in his cockpit like normal. But next to him was a new face--as it were. Judging from the glasses on the table and the shifting lighting, they were at 79s on Coruscant. Lucky bastards.
“I found zero!” Do-si-do announced happily. The man next to him gave a little two-finger salute.
Right after that, two more holograms appeared, which made Trees blink and sit up a bit straighter. He was used to Commander Sixes by now--honestly, he was--but after years of training to recognize COs and react accordingly, it was hard to shake the urge to go to attention. But the commander wasn’t the only one joining. Judging by the dull fuschia color of his armor, this was number four, from the Nova Corps.
He looked like he would rather crawl under a rock. Trees had felt similarly upon being press-ganged by Sevenset and Do-si-do to join them.
Sevenset’s face lit up at the two new holograms. “Commander!”
“Stow it, ARC,” came the immediate gruff reply.
“We’ve got two ARCs now,” Do-si-do was quick to point out, tapping the pauldrons of the man next to him.
The commander looked at the newcomer, then looked back at Sevenset. “He knows who I mean.”
“Indeed I do,” the ARC in question answered. “But hey! Two whole new numbers!” Trees couldn’t help the small smile forming on his face. Sevenset’s joy was contagious. “What do we call you guys?”
“I’m Zero,” the man next to Do-si-do replied. He had dark green paint over his armor, --maybe now Trees could convince Sevenset to change his name in the group chat to something other than Green Bean. His pauldrons were both green, and there was an inverted chevron visible over his grey chestpiece. Zero’s head was shaved on both sides, leaving a wide strip of curls down the center, and a tattoo on one side that Trees couldn’t quite make out from the hologram. He also caught sight of wide loops set into his earlobes. This guy almost had Sevenset beat for aesthetic.
They all turned their attention to the marine, who shrank back minisculely from his holoprojector. “Uhm…” He looked like he’d bolt at the next opportunity.
“It’s just your name, marine,” the commander prompted.
Instantly, the man answered, “Fours. I’m Fours.” Fours looked almost regulation from where Trees was sitting. It was hard to tell over hologram, but there might have been the remnants of a dye-job in his short hair, but it was too overgrown to be recognizable. The Nova Corps really didn’t get much time off. The armor they could see on him had vertical stripes painted over each shoulder, ending mid-way down his chestplate, as well as one down the center of his chest, and stripes down each shoulder bell.
Sevenset beamed at them both. “Well, welcome to the party. I’m Sevenset. I see Fours has already met the charming Commander Sixes.” The rest of them introduced themselves one by one, with Sevenset mentioning Echo’s “honorary number status” briefly.
“So… what do you guys actually do in these meetings?” Zero asked afterwards.
Several of the older members shrugged. Sevenset answered, “Eh, just chat. Or… I dunno, spread gossip.”
“They’re largely useless,” the commander said plainly.
Trees smirked at Sevenset’s eyeroll. “Yet, you keep coming to them, Commander,” the red ARC reminded him.
Do-si-do added, “He’s actually never missed one since you dragged him into it.”
Trees could confirm that--he often kept tabs on attendance just so he knew when to be worried if someone missed out. But he also wanted to keep watching Sevenset and Do-si-do taunt Death.
Zero and Fours both looked surprised, although Fours’ expression was a bit harder to read. He was still pretty on-edge. “How did you get Commander Death to join, anyway?” Zero asked, swirling the contents of his glass.
“Sheer willpower,” Sevenset answered smugly.
The commander crossed his arms. “I’m actually waiting for your last functioning brain cell to die from lack of stimulation. It’ll be funnier on camera.”
Fives and Do-si-do both burst out laughing--a problem for the latter, who had just taken a mouthful from his drink and consequently sprayed half of it across the table. Echo and Loops simply had huge grins on their faces, an expression Trees found mirrored on his own face. Sevenset had a sort of strained smile as he waited for Fives and Do-si-do to recover.
“I’m touched you have so much concern for me, Commander.”
“Oh, I’m concerned, alright.” The remark made Fives and Do-si-do break up again.
The commander was definitely warming up to the group, even Trees could see it. He would probably never admit it, but since his first meeting, he’d thawed a bit. Trees almost wished he could have seen their first meeting on Kamino, just to know how close the commander had been to wringing Sevenset’s neck. For old time’s sake.
Once the laughter had died down into smiles, Zero looked to the two batchers standing with Sevenset. “When are you two graduating, anyway?”
“Next week!” Fives announced, beaming with pride.
“Yeah, we get our new gear tomorrow,” Echo smiled.
“Which means this guy,” Fives added, putting an arm around his brother’s shoulders, “is going to stay up all night reading about it, right Echo?”
Echo shrugged his arm off with a well-worn scowl. Trees frowned a little. “Hey, reading up on the kit isn’t a bad idea. I did it. I’ll probably do it again when Phase Two comes out, whenever that’s gonna be.”
Vindicated, Echo folded his arms and lifted his chin at his brother, who rolled his eyes. Zero tipped his glass towards them. “Well, you survived this long. Have fun next week.” He drained what was left of the drink, then slid the glass to the center of the table. Trees really couldn’t wait for leave… he needed a drink after Geonosis. And not just the stuff the boys managed to sneak onboard.
“Hey, Zero,” Loops spoke up, leaning forward a little. “Why haven’t I heard much about the one-eigteenth?”
A good question. Trees knew rather little about Zero’s legion, aside from knowing it was in the Seventh Sky Corps along with the 501st and the 212th. He didn’t even know which Jedi led it.
“Probably--” The green ARC started to answer, then something out of frame caught his attention, and he held up a finger. He stood up and they heard him shout, “Incident! Off the ceiling! Troll, stop helping!” He leaned down. “Hang on.” Then he disappeared out of frame.
“Is someone actually on the ceiling?” Fives asked, looking to Do-si-do for answers.
The pilot nodded, his attention directed upward. “I don’t know how he did it. But he did.”
“Okay, so Torrent should never meet them,” Echo said. “I think we’d watch as the captain went grey from stress before our eyes.”
Fives grinned. “I dunno, it could be fun.”
“No, it would be fun,” his brother agreed, “right until you blow something up and get yourself and others hurt. Then Kix would have your balls.”
“Worth it.” Echo looked between Sevenset and Fives, who had both spoken, then rubbed his face with both hands.
Commander Sixes shook his head. “Never have these problems with my boys.”
Zero returned a minute or two later, another drink in his hand. “Okay. Sorry about that, someone got a balloon stuck in the rafters, and Incident thought it was a good idea to retrieve it.”
“Did he get it?” Loops asked.
“Unfortunately, yes.”
“Why unfortunately?”
“Because he got a reward for climbing to the ceiling to get it, and he’ll probably try it again later.” He took a drink. “Anyway. One-eighteenth. We’re pretty small for a legion, which is probably why you haven’t heard of us. One company of the two-twelfth is probably most of our troops.”
“Who’s your General?” Echo asked.
“General Veekah Bala.” He got mostly blank stares and couple heads shaking. “Yeah, well. She’s pretty awesome. Togruta, double-bladed lightsaber. Kinda young, like Skywalker, but…” He paused, like he was looking for the right words.
“More sane?” Fives offered. Trees smirked. Skywalker had quite the reputation.
Zero shrugged. “I guess? Dunno, maybe she’s just crazy in a different way.”
“What do you guys do when you’re that small?” Loops prompted further.
“Special stuff--kind of like Rancor, actually. The demo jobs, the stealth missions, that kind of stuff. Each company has a specialty.”
Do-si-do bumped their elbows together lightly. “What’s yours?”
“I’m in Whisper Company. We do stealth and recon and stuff like that. Firebolt is our demo team--that’s… where Troll and Incident are.” He cast a glance towards the ceiling.
Motion drew Trees’ eye to Fives, who had leaned over to whisper something to Echo. Echo thought for a second, then shook his head, a small smile on his face. With Torrent’s reputation, they might like Firebolt, from the sounds of it.
“The other two are Blitz, who hate clankers and bugs more than anyone I’ve ever met, and Enigma, who have made it their sworn mission to hack General Grievous,” Zero finished.
“Hack him?” Sevenset repeated, voicing the confusion on the others’ faces. Except for the commander, because his helmet was still on.
Zero sighed, scratching his head. “Yeah, I dunno. They figure because he’s a cyborg, they can hack his cybernetic parts, right? They’re obsessed. The general totally enables them, too. The Enigma hazing ritual is to hack into a B1 as fast as you can.”
Trees’ face scrunched up slightly. They just kept battle droids around for initiation? That… didn’t seem safe. He and Fours seemed to have similar skeptical reactions to it, but Fives and Echo were nodding along like it made perfect sense. Trees was so glad to be in the 41st.
“What about Whisper?” Loops wanted to know.
Zero just smiled slyly and held up something so they could see. Trees recognized it. Most pilots he’d met had a lucky charm of some kind, either painted on their armor, or their ship, or it was an object they kept with them at all times. Do-si-do had the latter kind: his charm was a dark brown rock with a hole through the center, always in his utility belt. But suddenly it wasn’t.
Do-si-do’s eyes went comically wide for a second, then his hand was flying to the empty pouch on his belt. “What--hey!”
Zero put the stone on the table and slid it to him. “That’s what we do.”
“Steal stuff?” the pilot shot back, snatching the stone up and clutching it to his chest.
“We always give it back.”
Do-si-do was still frowning darkly as he carefully replaced his charm in his belt.
“Huh,” Sevenset nodded. “You guys sound pretty cool. Shame I only learned about you now, honestly.”
“Yeah, it’s okay, we’re usually out of the way, anyway. You know what that’s like, right, Fours?”
The marine stiffened at the sudden attention, and at the subsequent attention from everyone else. Poor guy. “Uh. Yeah.”
“Oh, hey, how’s that mission with Death going?” Sevenset asked him, looking between the marine and the commander. “That’s how he found you right?”
Fours nodded. “Yeah. It’s… good, I guess?”
“They needed the help, that’s for sure,” the commander added. “Although, Bacara’s doing a pretty good job without the general around.”
Trees nodded, remembering General Mundi had assisted on Geonosis, and likely hadn’t been cleared to return to the Nova Corps yet after the assault. Some of the others looked a little lost, though. He reminded them.
“How long do you think he’ll be out?” Fours asked quietly. Trees couldn’t tell if it was genuine concern behind the question or curiosity.
He shrugged. “No idea. I never actually saw him, he was with the two-twelfth most of the time.”
The commander made some nonverbal reply to that before adding, “Well, at least he’ll be coming back. Geonosis has done worse before.”
He would know. Trees had looked him up after his first appearance, just like he had done for them. Commander Sixes had taken part in the first assault on Geonosis over three years ago. As Trees had dug a little deeper, he’d discovered almost nothing but casualty reports in connection. The commander had lost all but three of his original unit that day. Of the three left, two had died in combat, and the third just had a lot of “unknowns” in the report. That might explain the prickly shell of a personality.
Yeah, well, there weren’t brain worms the first time, Trees thought, rubbing his face tiredly. He then realized he’d spoken out loud when the guys who hadn’t been there first balked at him. Whoops.
“Brain worms?” Loops repeated, recoiling, his nose scrunched in disgust. Fours had a similar, though silent, reaction.
“Should’ve had Blitz Co there,” Zero remarked, barely fazed by the revelation.
The commander was oddly silent.
Trees shook his head. “Yeah, well, I’m tired, so I’m gonna turn in. Make sure you add Fours and Zero to the comm link.”
Sevenset nodded. “Will do, Green Bean.”
Trees leveled a deadpan stare at him. “Zero’s green too, get creative. And you’re not the only ARC now, ‘ARCBoi with five i’s,’” he told him, then clicked off the holoprojector.

It has been a few months, six to be exact, but I wanted to revisit Tommy when he was locked in the prison.
A lot has happened since then, and I think the reminder of this would be nice since these moments affected Tommy so deeply, and watching streams over again can be time-consuming.
This analysis and summary will be split into three parts. The first three parts will be an analysis and summary of Tommy’s time in the prison, from pre-entrance to revival. From here on out, I will be discussing the characters on the SMP unless stated otherwise. Dialogue is color-coded: Tommy, Dream. So, let’s begin!
Stream: Tommy Gets Locked In Prison with Dream
The stream opens up with Tommy telling us, the audience, that this will be our last time visiting Dream. He wants to visit Dream one last time in order to gain closure. Tommy acknowledges that he has been, in his own words, “tortured” and “tormented” by Dream. Though Dream is locked up, Tommy is still anxious.
“Why am I still feeling like this? Why am I still feeling, you know, fuckin, miserable, I suppose. I’ve got my hotel, I’ve got my buis- I still feel kinda- a little bit low. A little bit empty. I think, I think it’s because I haven’t shut the book. He’s still in my life, you know.”
All of this confirms the fact that Tommy has yet to heal from Dream’s abuse. He is aware that he is safe and has everything he’s wanted, yet still feels unhappy. This also confirms that Tommy wants to heal and move on. He is making the conscious decision to do so.
“I wanna start living my life, because I haven’t lived my life since the start of this SMP! … it’s just been war after war, death after death, friend dead after friend! Death, you know? It’s been, dare I say, it’s been fuckin morbid! But um, he’s been the reason.”
This is further confirmation of Tommy’s thought process. He is aware that his life has always been busy in some way, and that conflict has always boiled down to him and Dream. It is important to note that he does not blame anyone else for his troubles except Dream. He does not blame Wilbur for L’manberg’s destruction, Philza for Wilbur’s death, or Technoblade for Tubbo’s death. For Tommy, it has always been him and Dream no matter what.
As Tommy goes over the required questions with Sam, he says that Dream does deserve to be in prison, but does not deserve to die. When Sam asks what Tommy’s prior relationship with the prisoner was like, Tommy immediately yells, calling Dream a wrongen. However, his demeanor changes quickly. He says that they manipulated one another, and that Dream manipulated him. This is interesting because Tommy is aware that Dream hurt him, but he does not exactly know how he fits into it. Tommy has not manipulated Dream. Tommy does not and did not have the power to do that. Tommy has a hard time understanding his relationship with Dream, which is something we will continue to see as the stream progresses.
While Tommy puts his items in the locker, he apologizes for his nervousness and asks if it’s obvious. This is also something Tommy does frequently; he apologizes for his emotions regardless of the situation. Tommy has good reason to be nervous, and Sam even asks if Tommy really wants to visit Dream. Sam is not annoyed by Tommy, so he has no real reason to apologize. Tommy has a hard time letting his guard down around people he likes and feels the need to apologize for his emotions.
As Sam and Tommy make their way through the prison, Tommy thanks Sam for doing his job and looking out for him. After being genuine with Sam, Tommy is frustrated when he doesn’t respond, despite being aware of the fact that Sam puts on a face while doing his job. Tommy does not like being ignored, but quickly moves on to once again explain that he does not want to visit the prison again after this. He specifically notes that blackstone is triggering to him, which is another thing to add to his already long trigger list. He also asks Sam to promise that Dream will be locked up forever. Once Sam confirms this, Tommy calms down. He says he would have no reason to visit Dream again unless one of his friends died. As Tommy blabbers on and on, Sam does a good job of being directional toward Tommy, telling him exactly what he needs to do. This is a good thing because it gives Tommy a specific task to complete, and does not give him time to panic. As Tommy waits for the lava to lower, he says this,
“I wanna make sure I always like who I am, and, you know, around this guy, I don’t think I do. I don’t think I like who I am around Dream. Let’s close the book.”
This is very important because it helps establish Tommy’s relationship with Dream for the audience. Tommy very clearly does not like Dream and does not like the kind of person he is while around him (hurt, afraid, confused, quick to anger). Dream, on the other hand, does not feel this way. He wants to be around Tommy. He wants to hurt Tommy. Dream sees this as fun, while Tommy does not. This is something we will also continue to see as the stream goes on.
This is minor, but I think it’s important to note, as it’s part of how cc!Tommy plays his character: As Tommy and Dream greet one another, Dream says that he lost his clock. Tommy jokes that if you remove the “L” a new word is created, and Tommy smiles. In response, Dream says, “That’s the Tommy I know.” Tommy’s face immediately drops after Dream says this; this feeds into Tommy’s dislike for himself around Dream.
Dream attempts to make conversation, saying that he wishes Tommy would visit more, but Tommy ignores this to explain that this is his last time visiting Dream. Dream tries to make Tommy second guess himself by saying that forever is a “long time.” Tommy pauses before speaking again. Something important to be aware of is that Tommy is very susceptible to Dream’s manipulation, especially now. In this situation. There is no escape. It is just him, Dream, and the lava. There is no one to break up any disagreement they have. There is no one here to stop Dream. And because Tommy is so anxious, he is an easy target. Tommy does try to combat this by being direct with Dream. He refuses to answer Dream outright as of now, and instead just tries to get his point across.
At this point in the stream, it crashes, but right before, Tommy explains to Dream that if there is anything he wants to say, he has to say it now, because Tommy won’t be coming back. Dream responds to this with a confused “why?” Dream cannot think of even a single reason why Tommy would never want to see him again, which plays into the fact that Dream believes that his relationship with Tommy is fun. It also shows that Dream thinks this relationship is mutual; Dream believes that Tommy feels the same way about him, which is not true.
After fixing some stream problems, Dream talks about possibly getting out one day. Tommy immediately denies this and stops Dream from talking about it any further. Here, Tommy is trying to keep some sort of power in the situation. He is trying to keep an even temper, but this doesn’t last very long once Tommy brings up exile.
“What you’re doing now, this is like exile. Do you remember that? Do you remember ex- I don’t know how much you remember with all these tears n shit, this is, this is like exile, man. I don’t- I don’t wanna know you-” “I mean, exile, it wasn’t, it wasn’t too bad, right? I mean, you still, you had, you know, like, we hung out and stuff.” “I fu- You fu- You fuck- You bastard, Dream! You threw my shit into a hole! I can’t go near plains biomes now without getting a little trembly in the fingers! You- Yeah no, it was fucked, you’re fucked!”
Here, Tommy is aware that he is not in power. He knows that he lacks control in this situation, especially because he is emotional. Comparing this to exile shows that this is what Tommy bases his opinions of Dream on, and this is where most of Tommy’s fears come from. This also shows that Dream has no sense of the severity of exile, despite the fact that he carried out the abuse. Dream describes it as them just hanging out, which, again, shows that Dream thinks his relationship with Tommy is fun. He does not think that what he did was abuse, despite Tommy’s clear indication that it was. He doesn’t think that it was too bad despite the fact that he cannot come up with any reason why it wasn’t bad. He does not complete his sentences because he cannot think of anything good. In order to gain the upper hand again, Tommy asks about the books he wanted Dream to write last time, but we quickly move on from that to this:
“Listen, when I’m around you, my brain feels like I’m conditioned to be your friend, but also when I have a knife, I wanna just plunge it into your heart, and it’s like I don’t- you don’t make me a good person.”
This, again, shows Tommy’s conflicting feelings toward Dream. Tommy is very aware that he doesn’t like Dream and is not the person he wants to be while around Dream. However, he still feels inclined to be his friend. Tommy is aware that he is being manipulated, as shown by the word “conditioned” here; he knows that he does not actually want to be Dream’s friend. Tommy just does not know how to make this feeling stop. What Tommy does know is that Dream has ruined everything for him, and he does not want to see Dream ever again. Tommy goes on about how Dream is horrible, specifically calling him out for almost killing Tubbo. In response, we get this:
“I did bad things but- Everybody thinks they’re right from their perspective-” “That’s not true.” “Wow. I mean, I think I’m right. I did bad things, but I did them for good reasons but-" “What do you mean ‘good reasons’ you’re a psychopath-” "but I’ve learned. I did bad things. And I’ve learned that I shouldn’t have done them." “What good reasons? No, please, enlighten us, please, enlighten me-” "I just wanted to bring the server together, have it be a happy family, you know?”
And this, my friends, is a lovely example of Dream’s mindset and ability to manipulate. Dream repeats that he has learned from what he’s done, but that is not true. He tries more than once to excuse his actions by saying that everyone is right from their own perspective and that he was doing bad things for good reason. He does this in an effort to make Tommy think he’s not that bad and can be either let out or revisited. This also proves that he hasn’t learned at all, because if he truly did learn, he would acknowledge exactly what was wrong with his actions. He would’ve apologized to Tommy a long time ago if he really believed that what he did was wrong. Tommy immediately disagrees with Dream’s points, which, again, shows that Tommy and Dream do not have the same mindset, despite what Dream believes. I think the most important thing to take note of is the “happy family” bit, which has been dragged through hell in back in discourse posts. In order to bring the server together to create a happy family, all of the members would have to be involved, and all of them would have to be happy. Based on Dream’s actions, he doesn’t actually want this. Abusing people does not make them happy. Threatening to kill others does not make them happy. Leaving your friends behind in pursuit of your obsession does not make them happy. In Dream’s mind, a “big happy family” is one that he can do anything to without repercussions, which is something Tommy calls out. Later, he says,
“I am better than that. I am better than you. I am done here. You ruined my past, Dream, but you will not ruin my future.”
Other than this being a banger line, this basically sums up everything Tommy wanted to accomplish with this visit. Dream tries to make Tommy second guess himself by asking him to visit, and saying that Tommy visiting would help him get better. Thankfully, Tommy knows that it’s not true, and refuses. But because we can’t have good things around here, right after Tommy says goodbye, TNT starts to go off, and Tommy starts to yell for Sam and panics. Dream does not have much of a reaction to the explosions. Tommy once again tries to bid Dream farewell, saying “It has been an honor knowing you, but it will be an honor forgetting you.” but is quickly distracted by more TNT. As more TNT rains down, Tommy grabs the item frame off the wall to use as a potential weapon. Eventually, Tommy asks Dream to let him out, which signals to Dream that Tommy is in a vulnerable state. Dream capitalizes on this by saying that Tommy might be stuck with him for a while. As they argue over not knowing any better than the other, Tommy doesn’t believe that Dream doesn’t know anything about the TNT.
Eventually, Dream says that this is a good thing and that they can bond. He remarks that this is just like exile, and Tommy immediately begins to curse at and hit him. Tommy continues to hit Dream and pace all panicked, and it only gets worse when Dream says that this is the best thing that has ever happened to him in the prison. Dream tries repeatedly to give Tommy food and books, but he refuses them. Eventually, though, he eats the food. As the two argue some more, Dream says that they will have a lot of fun together. This, again, shows that Dream has a warped perception of what “fun” is, and does not see any reason for Tommy to panic. And to end it all, Tommy says, “I was about to be done.” as he realizes that there is nothing he can do.

THIS IS ALL SO FUN OMG HEHEHE
some of it is accurate to the au and some of its not- and some of this I plain haven’t thought about
To say that Micheal, Elizabeth, and CC had better lives here then In canon is partly true
Even in death I think the only one who ended up suffering was Elizabeth (she fell face first into a springlock suit, I’m saving the full story for another time) but after her death Elizabeth made friends and generally had a better experience than she would have (her and Fritz mci have a goldenduo kind of thing)
Micheal’s death on the other hand was a lot quicker, like canon cc he dies in the bite of 83, but in this scenario it’s by is own hand and not someone else’s- basically him and his buddies were fooling around with a camera getting pictures with the animatronics and they’re taking pictures with this side stage animatronic “lovely the fox” when one of them says it be cool to get a picture that made it looks like the fox was mauling them right? So Mike sticks his head in the mouth and he really should’ve listened to mommy about how delicate the springlocks can be because SNAP-
And funny enough it’s still cc’s birthday, poor kid, can’t catch a break
Speaking of cc (I’m going to call him Cecil from this point because that’s his name here and it’s a little easier for me) one thing you said about him is actually something I never considered but I do think is true, Cecil wanting his mother’s attention
I think it’s in a sort of different way than Elizabeth, something about Cecil and how he treats himself (especially after his siblings die) is that he can never really be satisfied with who he is as a person for a lot of the time, how could he be? They say when a young person dies their image is eternally attached to innocence and a sense of perfection in death because they didn’t get the chance to be bad people
So in Cecil’s eyes he can’t really live up to that can he? Everything they did would be more valuable because they’re gone now, and the only other living family member he has is his mother who is also this perfect person to him, everyone likes mom, moms good at everything, everybody wants to be like mom, so he thinks- and concludes that he also wants to be like his mother
So he spends his life trying to mimic her, he tries to make animatronics though he’s not the best at it, he’s better with the designing then the construction and.. actually doesn’t like to get his hands dirty so he’ll end up putting half built little dolls away for months a time because believe it or not forcing yourself to do a hobby can make that hobby not fun!
So he tries other ways to be like his mother, he starts working at the different locations as early as he’s allowed (16) and he works hard too! A waitress called out? Get the bosses son over here! The hostess quit? Get the bosses son over here? We need a spare technician? Get the bosses son over here! He gains a reputation for filling in wherever they need a spare hand, people think he’s a good kid, and that he works too much for his age…
And yet, after all he does, he can never seem to be this unobtainable standard he’s set for himself- and you know what? Clara sees him doing this to himself and she doesn’t intervene, she’s got a work-based philosophy and thinks that this IS the point of success for him and she’s proud of him for achieving that (even if she doesn’t say so)
Wow ok that was a ramble and a half !!! I think I will be done for now but further statements will likely be made as separate posts because you got me thinking bout Cici and thus I must go insane !!!
So given one of the main bits of my fnaf au is “Clara is the killer instead of William” I haven’t actually been talking about William all too much- a shame!
William in the au is a really great guy actually, he’s a devoted husband and father and he even gave up his career to stay home with the kids— although maybe he’s a little too devoted, because even after he finds out his beloved wife kills people and even after she kills HIM he’s still very in love with her
It’s awful it really is the guy cannot move on even though he’s trapped in the clown bunker- even as he’s forgetting her face day by day, he knows he loves her
(YOWZA SOMONE GET THIS GUY A COPEING MECHANISM !!! THIS ONES NOT VERY HEALTHY !!!)

(ONE SHOT) fit two people under your skin  STAR WARS
Febuwhump Day 1 - Brainwashing
A03
Alpha-17 doesn’t believe in monsters.
He’s lived through too much in his life to believe in the creatures under the bed, or those that creep through the dark hallways and eat unsuspecting cadets. He’s seen real monsters, he’s seen cruelty and violence. He’s seen real life, and nothing can scare him more than that, but he comforts himself with the knowledge that everything dies, that he can fight to the death if he has to. He knows the pain of being taken apart piece by piece, of being tortured past his limits, of watching so many vode marching off to the death. He knows the pain of losing good men that he trained personally, the pain of losing those he raised himself from childhood.
He knows the pain that comes from not having done enough.
Millions of vode are dead, millions more will die, and Alpha is almost numb to it. He’s lost enough that it no longer surprises him.
But he’s never had anyone come  back from the dead, and yet, here he is.
Months ago, Alpha had been brought back to the warfront by the death of his little brother, one of the boys he had trained and raised from childhood to be one of the best. He had been on Kamino when news had reached him that Marshal Commander Cody had died in the line of duty, and he had immediately felt the world drop out from beneath him. Cody -  Kote  - the youngest and smallest of Squad 17, his  vod’ika  ,  his ad’ika ; his pride and joy. Cody had been one of his, he had watched him grow into the man he was, and Alpha had thought, had hoped, that out of any of them, that Cody would make it to the end of this Manda-forsaken War. Cody had been a leader, a viciously competent warrior that put even other A-classers to shame. He may have only been a CC, but Alpha would bet anything that he’d be able to beat even a Null into the ground if given the chance.
He had never imagined Cody being just another name on a KIA list.
Cody could have been their leader, had the spirit needed to be Mand’alor. He had a natural charisma that made people  want to follow him, a strength to his soul that shone like fire in his eyes. He could be beaten, but he’d never break.
But he’d still died. He had died and left his 212th without a Commander.
Eventually, Alpha had managed to hunt down the troopers that had survived the mission that had killed one of his boys. Had tracked them down during shore leave and demanded to know what had happened. They couldn’t tell him much, because of the confidential status of the mission, but eventually a pale-faced and haunted Echo had spoken up, staring down at his alcohol like it could take the nightmares away.
“It should have been me.” The young ARC Trooper had whispered, looking close to tears, and Fives had gripped his brother’s hand like a lifeline. “I had gone for the shuttle - Cody - he saw what was about to happen before any of us. He saved me. He threw me out of the way and took the blast instead.”
Alpha had volunteered as soon as he could, had hunted General Kenobi down and put his name forward as his next Commander. He knew what his  ad’ika  would have wanted; he’d want Alpha to teach and protect his men where he couldn’t, to lead his Ghosts and 7th Sky. He’d trust Alpha-17 to watch his  Jetii’s back, to be at his side when he couldn’t, because Alpha wasn’t blind - he knew what his Kot’ika thought of General Kenobi, knew what he’d felt for him. He had seen the way Cody had looked at Kenobi, had known that they’d work well together when he’d suggested Cody as the Commander for Kenobi’s Battalion, even if he’d never imagined his little brother actually falling in love with the man.
Despite how much it hurt to stand in his place, Alpha had put himself forward, had painted his armour gold, and taken the title of Commander. It fits like an ill-fitting body glove, but Alpha wears it, because it’s what Cody would have wanted. He could keep up with Kenobi better than any shiny commander could, could call the Jedi out on his bullshit and keep him and his men safe. He knows it hurts Kenobi too. He knows that sometimes Kenobi turns to him expecting Cody to be there to a witty quip or a sarcastic smirk, and he sees the way he falters when it’s Alpha there instead.
The troopers are the same. Alpha knows they respect him, that they look up to him, but he’s not Cody, and they all know it. Over the months though, they’d learned how to work together; he’s glad it was him who had taken over for Cody, because he recognizes a lot of the signs of his own training in the way the 212th troopers move, no doubt passed on by Cody. They don’t move the way CTs are expected to move, instead Alpha can see his own personalized ARC training shining through in them, and he knows that any other commander wouldn’t have been able to keep up. As the months pass, he whips them into shape, distracts them from their grief, and keeps them moving.
And then rumours of the Seperatists’ newest asset reaches them. Until Umbara, no one sees it, but they hear the rumours spread by the small numbers of survivors left behind. Some sort of new droid made to look like a clone in black armour, that never speaks, never hesitates, and always wins. Until Umbara, its nothing more than a ghost story, a monster in the night, but Alpha had never believed in monsters, it was just another clanker that he’d destroy if he faced it on the field.
It was called many things; monster, assassin, dark trooper, but Alpha would know it as another target.
And then Umbara happened. The asset had killed Krell, had saved the lives of the 501st troopers that the  dar’jetii  was tormenting. It had killed  only  Krell, had torn the Besalisk apart, and then walked away; it hadn’t even  touched the clones, had barely even looked at them before leaving. Rex had come to him afterwards, baring footage of the fight between the asset and the General, an odd look on his face.
“It fights like a vod, Alpha.” Rex had said, sounding confused and lost as they’d watched the footage over and over again, looking to learn the clanker’s fighting style to better combat it in battle. “It fights like  you do.”
Watching the figure in black and gold armour, styled mockingly after his own, a kama swinging around it’s waist and a gold pauldron on it’s shoulder, Alpha couldn’t help but agree. It did fight like a clone; specifically, it fought like one of the cadets Alpha had trained personally. It was reckless, throwing itself into battle without a care, twisting into powerful kicks and using its blaster like a club in ways that Alpha specifically remembers one of his cadets doing, something that had driven Alpha to a frothing rage.
Cody.
It fights like  Cody.
He hadn’t voiced it at the time, had stewed in his rage at the insult aimed towards his dead  vod’ika. A droid that fought like Cody, a droid that had the exact same shade of orange-gold as his  vod’ika had chosen for his Battalion. It was an insult and an affront on everything Alpha stood for. He’d held on to that anger, had let it burn hot and harsh in his gut, knowing that the moment he faced the clanker on the battlefield, that he’d  destroy it.
He would tear it apart for the insult it symbolized. To know that the Seperatists were perverting his brother’s memory in such a way lights a fire in him that refuses to burn out.
And then he gets the chance to fight the asset. He fights it one on one, intent to destroy it and avenge his little brother, when the bucket comes off and Alpha’s heart stops. All he can think of, is that that’s a face glaring up at him, a familiar face with a familiar scar. He barely remembers the chaos that had followed.
Cody.
Somehow, the asset is Cody.
Somehow, they’d managed to get the asset -  Cody, his Kote - sedated and transferred onto the  Negotiator. It had hurt all of them to need to restrain him, to strip away black plastoid to reveal prosthetics and burns. They’d gotten him back to the ship, into the medbay and under the medics’ hands, and they’d found a  chip in his head.
And now, Alpha is staring down at the limp body strapped down to the biobed, ankles, hips, chest, and arms pinned to the bed by unforgiving metal, to make sure he wouldn’t attack again when he woke up. It’s still Cody. He’s missing both his legs at the thighs, there’s metal drilled into his spine and up the back of his skull. There’s a blinking monitor embedded into his chest, scarred skin growing around it, flashing with his heartbeat. They’d shaved him, put a cybernetic implant on the side of his head, over where his ear should be and stretching around his temple to interrupt the curving, hooked scar that had become his little brother’s visual marker of individuality, the one Alpha personally remembers tending to, right before pulling Cody into ARC training to ensure that Priest and Reau wouldn’t get their hands on him again. He’s covered in twisting, healing burn scars, left from the explosion they had all believed to have killed him, and there’s dark bruises standing stark against brown skin.
Bruises that Alpha had put there, when he’d nearly broken his brother’s neck while fighting him. When he had thought that Cody was a droid programmed to fight like him.
He'd nearly killed his little brother, the boy he'd raised, and he never would have known if he hadn't accidentally knocked his helmet off.
“Manda.” He breathes harshly, nostrils flaring, and he drops down into the chair Pace had put next to Cody’s bed. He ignores the medic’s eyes drilling into the side of his head, instead reaching out to gently squeeze Cody’s limp hand like he had when Cody had been a too-small child enduring too-cruel punishments in the place of more replaceable brothers. “What can you tell about the chip?”
Pace scowls, “It only showed up on a level five atomic scan.” He says, “We only found it because we were trying to find out the cause of the strange brain activity we were picking up - it showed up as a tumour, but once we removed it -” he gestures to the petri-dish next to the biobed, “- we found  that.”  ‘That’ being an ugly scrap of what looked like flesh, pink and pocketed and flecked with old blood. “Removing it from the frontal lobe stopped the strange brain signals we were picking up, and his waves went back to baseline - what you could expect from a regular clone.” Alpha tears his eyes away from Cody’s peaceful face to glower at the strange object. “We don’t have any proof, won’t until we can see how he acts when he wakes up, but Crys thinks it could have been controlling him.”
Alpha lets out a harsh curse, “Fucking seppies.”
“Yeah.” Pace murmurs, then shifts. “Commander,” he says slowly, enough of something odd in his tone that it makes Alpha look up to meet his gaze, to see them dark with anger, “whatever it is - that chip? It wasn’t made by the Seps.”
“What?” Alpha’s eyes narrow dangerously, and Pace nods, glowering at nothing as he rubs a hand aggressively against the gray fabric of his uniform.
“It gives off a different signal than the… prosthetics -” he says the words with furious contempt, like the sentence is rotten on his tongue, “- they drilled into him.”
Alpha snarls, baring his teeth like a cornered animal as he grips Cody’s clammy hand protectively, like he could destroy whatever did this to him with his will alone. “Who  do I need to kill for what they did to him?”
“Sir.” Pace’s voice is just as dangerous, “Whatever it is? It’s  Kaminoan.”

invisible string
Prompt 1 (invisible string by Taylor Swift) from the Klaine/CC Valentine’s Challenge 2021.
Thank you to @klaineccfanficlibrary for jumpstarting this series for me!
Summary: they were always meant to be together
Announcement: this is also the first installment of my folklore series. It pairs well with Lover. I’ll be arranging the stories at some point so they read in track order. Enjoy!
AO3
Green was the color of the grass
Where I used to read at Centennial Park
I used to think I would meet somebody there
Blaine thought it must be strange to sit in the park trying to read but getting distracted by the greenness of the green. The people walking past him didn’t comment on his odd behavior. New Yorkers didn’t care about what other people were doing, they had places to be and no time to care about weirdos admiring grass while sitting on park benches.
But Kurt Hummel wasn’t a true New Yorker. He may fit right in with the city folk in terms of fashion and efficiency yet Kurt was still fundamentally a small-town boy.
He had an eye for details and Blaine had an eye for Kurt.
He loved watching Kurt perfect a particularly challenging dance routine in class. He enjoyed watching Kurt analyze food menus when they went to get lunch together as if deciding on the right dish was going to affect how the rest of his day was laid out. Blaine liked walking with Kurt and actively seeing Kurt take in his surroundings, the strangers walking past them, and the city itself all around them. Sometimes, if Blaine was extremely lucky that day, Kurt would turn to him with a smile—just a little grin, no teeth—and make some sort of comment about what a fellow student was wearing and chuckle under his breath about it when it was particularly bad or sigh in awe if he had been out-fashioned.
On that Friday morning, Blaine was waiting to meet Kurt for their usual coffee date. Well, not quite a date, just a tri-weekly coffee before their shared dance class. Sitting on a park bench admiring the grass's coloring because he didn't have Kurt to admire instead.
It was in a taxi that same night when Blaine realized he was in love with Kurt Hummel.
They had been out dancing with some friends from class celebrating the end of midterms week. Kurt and he decided to share a taxi home because they both lived in the dorms. They were slightly sweaty, the cab driver refused to change the station from something other than whatever radio talk show he was listening to, but they didn’t really care. They had each other and didn’t need music anymore.
Blaine just kept thinking how easy it would be to walk his fingers over to Kurt’s hand and intertwine them. It shocked him so much that he shuttered and Kurt asked him what was wrong. Of course, he stammered out “nothing” and tried to calm himself down.
The taxi wasn’t dark because the city was never dark; Blaine knew if he started to blush Kurt would notice. So he willed himself to breathe and suddenly they were at the campus and going their separate ways while promising to text each other when they were safely inside their dorm. That was that: Blaine was in love with Kurt and he had no idea what to do about it.
****
Teal was the color of your shirt
When you were sixteen at the yogurt shop
You used to work at to make a little money
Colors were always very important to Kurt. They were a way to express himself without too much fear of being treated definitely. At least the bullies weren’t offended by the colors he wore, just the fact that he existed and was very obviously gay.
Now colors weren’t just shouts into the world about his sexual orientation (though they did help with that as did his love of layers), they were emotional markers for him. Reds for romance, blues for sadness, gray for loneliness, etc.…
He started to notice colors more and more often as he spent considerable amounts of time with a fellow student, Blaine Anderson. Like the yellow bowtie, he wore the first time they grabbed coffee. It had been the first weekend of the spring semester, so late in January that they were discussing the possibility of a snow day during the first week back at school. Kurt had been in his element, plenty of layers to remove in the warmth of the coffee shop. Blaine had adorable light gray earmuffs and mittens resting on the table.
They learned a lot about each other that day. Blaine had lived in Roosevelt, NY with his older brother for most of his life until moving to the city for university. He really was only an hour from home, he often said.
They met at NYU.
Kurt was a Performance Studies major at Tisch and Blaine was an education major but they both found themselves in an elective dance class spring semester. They were both freshmen, new to the city, and had a love of coffee. With dance class at 9 am, they made a habit of meeting for coffee beforehand. Friendship just blossomed from there.
It was the end of March now, spring break over and done. Blaine was in the middle of this tale of his 16-year-old self working at the yogurt shop, somewhere between him spilling a pint of blueberry yogurt on his teal shirt and the tie-dye effect that occurred, Kurt realized for the first time: I’m in love with him.
They weren’t even dating. They had only known each other for two months. Yet, here Kurt was walking by this boy’s side laughing at his ridiculous antics, and very much in love.
****
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
One year after their revelations about each other they were sitting in Centennial Park near where Blaine grew up. Instead of simply admiring the grass, as Blaine usually did when he came here, the couple laid out a blanket and had a picnic in it. Blaine had packed everything but Kurt had made all the food. They were a team now if only for the last six months. It’s been the best six months they had ever spent in New York, which was really saying something for Blaine because he had been living here his entire life and Kurt had spent his whole life fantasizing about it.
But somehow their relationship exceeded all of those fantasies and surpassed all of those previous life experiences. Maybe it was because they were doing this together and not alone. For so long they had both been gray and now they had color.
They had found a love that was worth everything they had already gone through and worth anything that they would go through in the future because they had each other and they knew it. Even though it only been six months, Kurt and Blaine knew this was going to be forever for both of them.
One single thread of gold tied them together and neither of them were ever letting go.

Lost and Found pt1
[Here is the second chronological thread! This will have another part (which I will tag accordingly) so keep an eye out for that! I had a lot of fun with this particular thread because it really helped me figure out 86's personality some more - and had the added benefit of letting me rp with the lovely mun of Commander Thire ^^
As always, if I forget any warnings, please let me know!]
Authors: myself and @cc-4477commanderthire Characters: Commander Thire (them); CT-7386, (me) Rating: T TW: depicted depression and anxiety; referenced isolation (self-imposed and imposed by others); referenced assisted suicide
Mando'a Guide: Udesii - take it easy, calm down Ni'ne - [fan-made], sorry (not as intense as n'eparavu takisit or ni ceta) Vor entye - thank you
86 receives a comm in the late afternoon, a few hours before the end of his shift.
CT-7386,
Meet me in my office once your shift is over.
Commander Thire
He swallows nervously and returns his attention to the hallway he’s walking down on his way to the last senator to have requested him for the day. What could his commanding officer want him for? Have I done something wrong?
Finally, when the sun has set and the sky is bright with the traffic and business of a city that never sleeps, 86 trudges back from the Rotunda and through Guard Headquarters. It’s long after most of his vode will have had late-meal, and he can only hope that the commander won’t be too upset about him showing up so late.
86 hesitates in front of Thire’s office door. He reaches up and slips off his bucket - mostly so that he’ll have something in his hands to give him something to fidget with. Then, with a slightly shaky breath, he knocks on the door and steps inside when it opens.
“C-Commander Thire, sir?” he asks, voice quiet to hide how it wants to tremble. “I - I’m sorry it’s s-so late, sir.”
The office is dimly lit, and only the data pads illuminate the commander. Thire looks up from his work and gestures for the trooper to take a seat in front of his chair. "Don‘t worry about it. Have you eaten yet?"
He gets up and walks around the table to switch the overhead light on, "I haven‘t eaten yet, so if you don‘t mind we can have some together."
86 sits, bucket clutched in his lap. “No sir, I haven’t - haven’t eaten yet. My shift only j-just ended.”
Of course, he’s so tense and anxious that he doesn’t know if he can stomach food, even an unappetizing ration bar, but who is he to tell a commander no?
Thire hums softly and places reheated mess food in front of the trooper. He may have planned this and purposely not eaten so far. He sits down behind his own desk, "Do you have a name yet?"
Fox told him about this particular case, but he wants to offer the other some control over the situation by asking a few simple questions.
Suddenly 86 is afraid he knows what this is about. Every moment of the last week runs quickly across his vision like a holofilm, and he sees his confrontation with Cory and his confession to Fox all over again. It sends a dull throb through his skull, and he bites back a wince.
“Thank you,” he mumbles, unable to look up from the food; nausea swims in his gut, though he can’t pinpoint the exact source. “I don’t - I go by my n-number, sir, or 86.”
He takes a breath meant to steady him. “I don’t - I don’t know what the Commander told you,” 86 glances up to check if his suspicions are correct, “but I don’t deserve a name.” Quieter, more to himself, he adds, “It’s not like - like anyone would use it anyway.”
Thire gets up and walks around to 86. He leans against his desk and searches for 86‘ glance, "What Fox told me was that it was our collective failure that we didn‘t realize you were struggling earlier. And he‘s certainly right about that."
Quietly he adds, "Having a name means that you are your own person, 86. A person who has a past, hopes, dreams and fears. It means that you have a personality. That there are things you like and don‘t like. You deserve a name because you are someone. Someone who matters. And that‘s why you get to have a name and choose it for yourself."
It‘s been a while since he told someone that. Thire does feel ashamed that he never properly checked how his men were holding up. He promised himself to be better years ago and he needs to act on it.
He holds his helmet tight to his chest. “I have a - a past, and I have fears, but - th-those are all I have.” Tears begin to burn at the backs of his eyes. “I g-gave up any right to anything - anything else when I decided it was alright to kill my kih’vode re-regardless of our circumstances.”
86’s voice hardens slightly, and he meets Thire’s gaze. “And - And whatever Fox may say, wh-whatever you believe, the situation I’m in is - is my fault. My choices led me here, and I was prepared to face - face the consequences of those choices when I m-made them.”
That burning won’t go away, and it’s getting a little hard to breathe. Kark why is he such a baby?
(He doesn’t know who he’s trying to convince anymore.)
Thire‘s gaze softens, “You are not responsible for your circumstances. And you made a hard choice. That‘s okay, and it happens.”
He uncrosses his arms and lets his hands fall to his sides, palm open, “If you don‘t have dreams now then they‘ll come again, at some point. That doesn‘t rob you of your right to individuality. Your right to be a person.”
He feels bad to throw all of this at 86 at once. 86 is his own person and Thire‘s guilt about something else in the past shouldn‘t play a part in this. Instead he asks softly, “Can I touch you?”
86 thinks of his greenhouse in the lower halls, of the safe place he has been slowly carving out for himself. The need that he has for such a space… could that be classified as a wish? A dream? He doesn’t know. All he does know is that all of his dreams have been - or turned into - nightmares so far.
At Thire’s question, he stiffens slightly. All touch recently has been bad touch, so this good thing catches him off guard - but he nods anyway, hoping none of his thoughts make it onto his face. “Yes,” he adds out loud for good measure.
Thire gently places a hand on 86‘s shoulder and softly pulls him forward. It‘s a light touch but with the clear intent to hold him close. Thire‘s thumb lightly strokes his shoulder in a soothing motion. Softly he says, “Have you talked to a medic yet?”
He feels sorry for the trooper who looks like a loth cat caught in headlights. But they‘ll have to make an effort to reach out to show 86 that he is wanted and there are brothers who care about him specifically.
86 allows himself to be pulled in - and finds himself slumping against Thire’s chest. Tingles arc across his skin from the place Thire’s thumb strokes his shoulder, and tears swell unbidden in his eyes.
He shakes his head and sniffles, though he tries to keep it quiet. “N-No,” he answers shakily without moving. “Not - Not yet. F-Fox suggested - suggested CMO Paws. I think… I’ll go, m-maybe. Th-There’s still all of this going on, and I can’t - I won’t -” 86 shakes his head again and whines a little in frustration, but mostly at all the emotions coursing through him that he doesn’t really understand. He doesn’t know what’s going on, only that he thinks this feels nice, feels warm.
Thire simply wraps his arms around 86 and pulls him close. Quietly he says, "Udesii, vod‘ika. I have you."
Softly he hums a slow melody and gently continues to stroke over 86‘ back. It is physically painful to see his vod‘ika suffer like that.
The increase in physical contact has 86 shuddering and keening desperately. “Ni’ne,” he cries into Thire’s chest, “ni’ne, ni’ne, ni’ne…”
After a few minutes, 86 manages to swallow his sobs, though he’s still shaking, and he doesn’t move to pull away from the embrace. He even reaches up and clutches at the edges of Thire’s armor to ground himself.
“I’m s-sorry,” he sniffles again. “I don’t - I don’t kn-know what’s - what’s wrong.”
Thire holds him even tighter and softly whispers, “There‘s nothing to be sorry for, vod‘ika.”
His heart breaks a little at the sobs and he wonders how long it‘s been since someone held 86 close. He gently rakes his fingers through the trooper's hair and hums comfortingly, “You‘re doing good. I‘m proud of you.”
It‘s not said very loud but Thire means it nevertheless.
86 completely melts, letting himself fall apart in the safety of a vod’s embrace. Thire is proud of him? The idea of it, the emotion that comes with it, is unfamiliar. He has always been the ori’vod; he doesn’t know how to handle this shift in his self-perceived place in the world. But for some reason, it soothes just a few of his jagged edges.
Eventually, his sobs ease into nothing more than an occasional hitch in his breathing; he’s practically asleep, Thire’s fingers in his hair relaxing him more than he’s been in years, and his chest fills with warmth every time the commander carefully avoids the transmitters of his implants. He’s being cared for, not rejected - like a proper vod, by a vod. 86’ next inhale hitches just slightly, but he has no more tears to cry.
Still boneless against his superior, 86 manages to mumble, “What - What did you wanna s-see me for, sir?”
Thire takes a moment to consider the situation before softly saying, “I wanted to talk to you and check in on you.” He was worried about 86 giving up entirely and ending it but he won‘t tell him that. No need to give the other ideas or the false impression that he needs to be on the brink of eating his gun for someone to care.
So, he softly adds, “A squad should be a family and yours doesn‘t offer you that sort of environment. I wanted to tell you that you can have family wherever, it‘s not limited to the people you work with. You can pick your own friends and family and…” Thire smiles down at 86, “I would very much like to be part of that. But it‘s your choice, vod‘ika. Pick people that make you feel saved and loved, because that‘s what you deserve.”
He moves down so that they are face to face and leans into a soft keldabe, “And I promise, these people exist. You just have to look for them and allow them to love you.”
86 presses into the keldabe, eyes scrunched shut and face screwed up to fight the dry burning in his eyes; he wants to cry, but he’s exhausted himself.
His breath hitches, chest tightening. “My squad - I f-failed them. I can n-never make it to pat-trol with them, I h-hardly eat with th-them… How can they - they not dist-trust me? Th-They even requested an - an extra vod to t-take my place, and they got him, howe-ever they pulled th-that off; I'm - I'm only part of Vada Squad on paper." 86 is confused. Doesn't Thire know that? Isn't it the commander who approves squad formations?”
“My - M-My last family was my b-batch,” he whispers, “and I killed them. Th-They were everything to m-me. We weren’t - We w-were kept separated from the - from the oth-thers, so the six of us… we were all w-we had. For three years n-no one has wanted - wanted to t-talk to the strange vod wh-who showed up out of n-nowhere.”
Somehow, his body manages to produce three more tears to ease the ache in his red and swollen eyes, and he sobs, “Wh-What’s changed? What’s changed?”
Thire looks away for a moment. “I… No one… had realized how alone you were or that you had nobody until it escalated. And that was a terrible mistake, but it doesn‘t mean that it has anything to do with you personally.”
He pulls 86‘ face into his shoulder and quietly says, “I know that this is hard and that it‘s asking a lot. But can you believe me that none of us did it on purpose? Can you give us a second chance to prove that we actually care?”
He knows that that is a lot to ask. But there is no other way to get through this. 86 needs to give his brothers a second chance and try to trust that they genuinely care now. If he doesnt at least try, then they have already lost and no chance to fix this and help their vod‘ika.
“I don’t know,” he sobs, holding on tighter. “I don’t know.”
This time 86 tries to pull himself back together, to keep himself coherent and not a blubbering mess. He’s only partially successful.
“I - I know it w-wasn’t on p-purpose, it was m-my fault, and I could - could n-never blame y-you for that.”
86 has a decision to make. Thire has presented him his choices, and now 86 has to decide if he’ll let himself be swallowed by his own darkness, the darkness he fights to keep from his vode, or if he’ll accept the light being offered him.
He thinks of his batch, of what they had all wanted for each other, of the secrets and the dreams they had whispered in the safety of the night cycle. He thinks of his vode, how he wants nothing more than to help them, how he really does care for them even if they don’t reciprocate it. He thinks of himself and how he has fought and struggled to make it this far - and he’s done it on his own. But now… Now there’s a chance for things to change, for him to change.
Fox and Thire believe he’s a person and that he deserves to be loved and cared for. 86 may not believe them, not yet, but… he wants to. He wants to.
In the end, the choice is rather simple. By wanting, 86 knows he is human, and all that’s left is for him to trust Fox and Thire. It’s a tiny step, because he has always trusted his vode (and now he needs to trust them with himself).
“I trust you,” he breathes. “I trust you.”
It’s all he can give right now, but he hopes that Thire will understand - understand that it’s not belief, that it’s not knowing, that 86 is trusting him to see the situation from an outside perspective, that he is trusting Thire with himself.
It’s all he can give.
But he’s always given himself for his brothers.
(Maybe it’s time he trusted them to keep him.)
Thire gently pulls him close and hugs him tightly, “Thank you”, he whispers softly. “This is the greatest gift you can ever give someone.”
He slowly continues to rock 86 back and forth and hums softly to calm the trooper down.
86 continues to hold on tightly, even as he feels himself slowly, slowly start to calm down, breathing evening out and body relaxing until he’s on the edge of sleep. He’s still awake, still aware, but everything feels hazy and distant.
“Vor entye,” he murmurs into Thire’s shoulder.
Thire lets his vod’ika sleep in his arms despite it being rather uncomfortable. He moves them to the floor and hugs 86 close. Slowly, he feels himself drift off to sleep.

“philter of the phantom”
CC-2224 knew that this would be its last mission for the Empire.
It was still in prime physical condition, a well-crafted piece of hardware meant to last through decades of wear and tear before beginning to break down, but its user-interface was considered suboptimal. A relic from a bygone era.
Creepy, was the word most often used to describe CC-2224. Look at him. His eyes follow you and the lights are on but nobody's home. It's doshing creepy.
Decommissioning was unavoidable, inevitable, imminent.
Its only hope was that it would be allowed to serve the Empire until its end.
When it had been informed that it was to retrieve an object of great importance for the Emperor, at any cost, CC-2224 knew its time of decommissioning had come. The mission would be more dangerous than the briefing implied and CC-2224 would fall in service of the Galactic Empire, just as it desired. Everything would be done.
As predicted in the back of its programming, the mission was a cockup from the beginning. They—CC-2224, its team of useless whiteshells, and the Inquisitor leading the mission—were led into an ambush after retrieving the Emperor’s property.
The whiteshells went down quickly, to no surprise and a great deal of disgust from CC-2224. Its brothers (good soldiers follow orders) would have been a better choice for the mission, for the army, but had been passed over.
Clones were no longer respected as the greatest fighting force in the galaxy. Their numbers had been dwindling ever since Kamino was shut down.
They were a dying breed.
But, dying or not, CC-2224 wasn’t dead yet.
It secured the objective and left the Inquisitor to deal with the—Separatists? No, there were no more Separatists—enemy forces by themself. A Jedi would have had no trouble, but the Jedi were traitors to the Repub—to the Empire—and the Inquisitor had been trained by the Emperor himself.
They would live or die as the Force willed, and CC-2224 had its orders: secure the objective, at any cost.
With the shuttle in sight and the Inquisitor inadvertently keeping the heat off of CC-2224, it broke from its defensive position and retreated in full. The screams of the dead and dying blotted out all other sounds, only cutting out as CC-2224 tripped over the threshold of the shuttle and sealed the door.
It sucked in a breath and stumbled to the cockpit, setting a course for the nearest Imperial forces before collapsing back into the pilot’s seat. CC-2224 sat there for a moment, confused as to why it was not moving, not completing one of the many tasks aboard even such a small vessel, before the realization struck.
Cold.
Its body quaked ever so slightly, sight greying out more and more every second, and it felt unbearably cold. It looked down at itself.
In the crook of one elbow lay the Emperor’s prize—a crystalline, geometric object that pulsed with a low-grade sense of malevolence—but something was wrong. Where before it had worn pristine white plastoid, it was now a bright and shocking hue of scarlet. Blood—a lot of it.
CC-2224 examined itself with a detached sort of curiosity, feeling faraway and uninterested. A quick pat-down of its torso quickly revealed the culprit and brought with it a flood of pain. One of the Sepa—Reb—one of the enemies must have been carrying a slugthrower. Unusual, unaccounted for, unexpected, and all the more deadly.
It would bleed out before it reached Imperial forces, CC-2224 noted dully. The idea didn’t bother it overly much. It’d known it would die on this mission, had accepted that upon assignment, and faced with its imminent decommissioning, it felt very little at all. Not fear, not anger, not regret...
Well, and that wasn’t true.
CC-2224 had regrets.
(Good soldiers follow orders.)
Alone in its mind, on the brink of death, it could acknowledge their existence.
It wished, suddenly, that things were different. Not for itself, no, death had no power over CC-2224. There was no death, after all, only the Force. And there was its regret. That it had sent its—his—that it had executed a traitor, without hesitation or remorse, and that the traitor had rejoined the Force believing he had CC-2224’s loyalty.
Loyalty and love.
CC-2224 had loved the traitor and his execution was a blight on its existence.
The traitor’s fall down, down, down into the waters of Utapau haunted its dreams.
Dead, the traitor was dead, he had to be. If the traitor had survived the fall that no being could survive, then CC-2224 had failed in its orders. It would be forced to complete the mission before submitting itself for decommissioning.
So the traitor Jedi must be dead, or else CC-2224 would never be allowed to die.
… And you want to die…
Perhaps not, it conceded to itself, because death tended to solve very little in the grand scheme of the galaxy. But it certainly no longer wanted to exist here, now, in this galaxy that the glorious Emperor had built upon the blood and bones of—of the—
It didn’t matter.
CC-2224 had nothing, had no one, would die very soon, without any of its brothers to hold its hand and watch him march far away. It’d always thought it would have at least that little bit of comfort, at the end.
… But you don’t want the end… You want the beginning… As do I…
Still nestled in the crook of its arm, the objective shivered, barely perceptible, and it looked down to see… something… a ripple that shouldn’t exist… before its vision finally went dark…
.
The disappointment might kill it before the blood loss, it decides as sound and pain begin to filter back into its consciousness. All it wants is an end to its godsawful existence, is that too much to ask? An end to pain and fear and remorse, the easiest thing in the galaxy to accomplish, except if you’re CC-karking-2224.
“Wake up, please, please, wake up…”
It gripes and growls and groans at the order, the request, the plea, but complies, conditioned as it’s been to respond to that voice and tone.
Prying its eyes open isn’t something it even feels capable of doing, but it grits its teeth as it's done so many times before. “Oh,” Kote breathes, staring at the blood-and-dirt-streaked face hovering over his own. “Hello there.”
The ghost smiles, adding tears into the mixture of grime, and lets out a chuckle that sounds like a sob.
“You scared me, Commander” it says, accusatory, as if that’s the worst crime he’s committed against its person. “Oh, Cody, I thought we’d lost you. No, don’t move, I’m going to comm the medics that we finally found you.”
Kote stops trying to prop himself up and just observes the spectre of his long-dead general report their position and his condition. He could look around, take stock of whatever years-over battle this surprisingly kind fever-dream has dropped him into, but instead he drinks in the sight.
“Well, Cody, I’m afraid the medics are not going to be kind to you after this.”
Smiling more softly than he has in over a decade, Kote watches the spectre fret over his blood-sticky armor, trying to assess the damage. “I forgot he used to call me that,” Kote murmurs, disbelieving at his luck.
Of all the ways his mind could comfort him as he dies, he never thought his general’s ghost would lead him into the Force. Perhaps this dying shavit isn’t so bad.
The spectre quirks its head to the side like a little bird, brow furrowed, mouth curled to one side. “What do you mean?”
Kote feels the hot, hard coil of tension that he’s carried in his chest for so, so long begin to unravel just a little bit. He shakes his head ruefully just thinking about it, his expression no doubt disgustingly sweet. “Never had the heart to tell him he got it wrong that first time,” he admits, watching the spectre go still. “Not like it was a hardship, going from Kote to Cody. I liked it, even. Like when the tubies start losing teeth and can’t get their words right anymore.”
He chuckles at the memories, a little bubble of blood forming at his mouth. The spectre doesn’t look nearly as amused; instead, its expression had turned glacial as he’d reminisced, and now looks only gut-punched.
“Do you—” His general’s ghost looks like he’s already marching. “Cody—Kote—do you recognize me?” he asks urgently, throwing a panicked look over his shoulder. “You know me, don’t you?”
And that, ha, that’s the funniest thing he’s heard in years.
More blood works its way out of his mouth as his breath wheezes out in a painful laugh. “‘Course I do, cyar’ika,” Kote reassures the spectre. “You’re my damnfool Jedi, always rushing into danger like you’re trying to prove something to… someone… Some dead man, most like.”
He can feel himself losing steam the longer he speaks, becoming colder and more tired with every word.
The spectre darts another look over his shoulder, face spasming like he doesn’t understand what he’s seeing, until Kote fumbles around and grabs one of his hands. He looks back down, then, face going soft and tears coming thick and fast. “I don’t understand,” he whispers, breathing beginning to hitch.
His poor general looks overwhelmed and unsure, like he was back nearer the beginning of the war. “I’m sorry,” he says thickly, “I’m so sorry, ner cyare. I didn’t mean to, I didn’t want to, I’m sorry, ni ceta…”
Obi-Wan’s ghost flinches like he’s been struck, but he holds tight to Kote’s hand and pushes an errant curl away from his forehead, though Kote doesn’t remember pulling off his bucket. “Whatever it is, I forgive you,” he replies, voice sweet and lovely like he’s talking to a panicked shiny. Maybe that’s what he is, right now. “You just need to hold on a bit longer, my dear, the medics are nearly here. I’ve got you, I’ve got you, I forgive you…”
He can feel himself slipping away, into the yawning darkness.
With his luck, he’ll just wake up back on the shuttle, his general’s forgiveness a hazy memory to torture himself with. He can hear shouting, dulled by the rushing of his ears, the sound of his own heartbeat, Obi-Wan whispering benedictions and pleas to hang on, just a little more…
The hand in his grasp is pulled away and Kote whines, wanting to hold his general’s hand when he dies, but other figures crowd around him, pushing the spectre away.
And that’s—that’s not karking fair, and Kote isn’t afraid to fripping say so, to push the painfully-familiar hands and buckets away because, damn it all, he’s dying here, can’t he get a little peace, for once?
“Settle down, brother,” dear, dead, Coric says with the authority of a medic to back up the order. “If you keep this up you’ll cause more damage than we can fix.”
Kote opens his mouth to tell Coric’s ghost exactly what he can shove up his shebs but is stymied by an unceremonious hypo to the neck, cutting him off.
The last thing he thinks he sees before the dark returns is his general, covered in filth and gore, looking more conflicted than Kote has ever seen him before. And at his side, a mirror image of himself, looking solid and implacable and like he’s meticulously planning a murder.
Well, if that’s how it is, Kote doesn’t mind marching off.
He’s got his general’s back.

You can ignore this if you don’t have any thoughts but what your ideal new young avengers run look like? Who would be on the team, what would you even call it now that they’re all adults (except Cassie I guess?)
One of my favorite things about Young Avengers, which I think is often underplayed to the detriment of the characters, is that the team is routinely forced to operate outside of the law and against the wishes of their elders. In the core YA books, the kids are more often working in opposition to the Avengers rather than in cooperation. These are characters whose methods and motives are not usually aligned with those of the established superhero organizations, which is also reflected in many of their appearances beyond YA-- Strikeforce and Empyre are great examples, as are Cassie's adventures in Astonishing Ant-Man. This rebel element is often at odds with the fact that many of the characters admire the Avengers, or have close personal relationships with individual Avengers members. The dissonance becomes especially strong when Billy and Teddy, who have the most reason to distrust and resent them following Children's Crusade, are consistently characterized as Avengers fanboys.
That's not to say that I think the Young Avengers should, like, hate the old Avengers, but I do think that this tension is a key part of the series. The 2005 run was about a group of kids who stepped up, at a very young age, to do a job that wasn't getting done because the previous generation had failed, only to get shot down by the people who had failed them in the first place. It's about a group of kids grappling with complex and painful family histories, and, in many ways, they're foils to the Runaways, which is why I don't really like it when they play junior Avengers or emulate the traditional superhero team structure-- WCA was really fun, but I'm not going to pitch a second volume, you know? I much prefer them operating as an ad hoc group, mainly because they each come from different backgrounds, have different goals, and work in different fields. They're not people who work together because they're part of an organization, they're people who show up for each other because they're friends and they care about one another. That is, in my mind, a more effective approach to a team book with such disparate characters than what the typical Avengers title tries to do.
So, anyways, that's what I think makes Young Avengers special and it's why I think the book still has a place in the Marvel world. Pitching actual story ideas is hard now because Teddy and Billy are, apparently, living off-world and very busy being royalty. In my previous post, I outlined an older idea for a BillyTeddy ongoing series that could have easily functioned as a third volume of Young Avengers, but would require some editing to work in a post-Empyre world. The idea was for Billy and Teddy's apartment in New York to act as a base of operations for a revolving cast of their friends, who come and go over the course of various story arcs. The two of them are presumably living full-time in space now, but it's also been established that they're magically anchored to each other in a way that makes it easy for Billy to warp between New York and the throneship-- anywhere Teddy goes, Billy can instantly follow, and vice-versa, which means that the series could still use Earth as a main setting without pulling the royal couple out of their other storyline.
I'd love a Young Avengers/Runaways crossover set in space-- their previous crossovers mostly have to do with alien drama, after all, and I've been itching to get Xavin back on page. I'm very serious when I say that I want Xavin, Teddy and Noh to be best friends, and I think they'd be fun leads for a miniseries, or even the opening arc of a limited run that eventually folds in the other YA and Runaways characters. I'm imagining an extended version of the interstellar road trip from YA (2013). Maybe Teddy will recruit his two closest alien friends to go on a sensitive diplomatic mission where he can only bring a small party, but it turns out to be some kind of trap and they end up stranded somewhere and have to, like fight their way out of hostile territory and make their way back to the Alliance with no ship. Billy can reach Teddy, obviously, but he can't just warp the whole party home because the distance is too great or they're in an alternate dimension or something, so he rounds up a rescue party and Karolina insists on coming along because, I don't know, the Light Brigade is mixed up in this and she feels like it's her responsibility to help Xavin even though they haven't seen each other in years. Nico obviously comes along with her, and can help Billy with tracking spells.
I'd also like to see a YA book led by the series' most under-served characters-- Tommy, Eli, and Cassie. Building off of Cassie's capers in Ant-Man, I'd be very into a heist or espionage story about the three of them, probably joined by Kate because she'd add a lot of cohesion to the cast and is so well suited to this type of adventure. Maybe they're undercover, and they have to, like, fake-fight some of the other Young Avengers, but they all join forces once the misunderstanding is cleared up. I'm picturing a cold open where the whole first issue is made up of, like, security camera footage of three masked figures breaking into a high-tech vault at AIM or Roxxon, and they steal a bunch of weaponry and fight their way out through a bunch of goons, but then it's revealed that the whole thing was a distraction to cover up a fourth intruder who moves too fast for the cameras to track. At the end of the issue, it's revealed to the reader that the intruders are the Young Avengers, and the real prize was a computer holding the last backup of Jonas's AI. The rest of the first arc is about them trying to rebuild Jonas with help from Vee, but they have to keep it a secret from the Avengers because they're planning an even bigger heist against, like Kate's dad, and they need to keep the whole operation under wraps because he's got eyes and ears all over.
I'm not particularly eager for another fantasy story after CC and YA(2013), but I'd be into a cosmic-fantasy arc about America solving some sort of inter-dimensional crisis or chasing a villain across worlds with Tommy and Billy's help. I really want more development between America and Billy, but I also think that she'd be really funny friends with Tommy and I want to see more of him playing off of magic characters. Maybe Leah (the one from Earth-15513 that's living on Earth-616 now) receives a mysterious message from Loki and asks the Young Avengers to help her track them down. America and Billy volunteer and Tommy tags along. Along the way they end up discovering some sort of evil curse or spell and go on a quest through various dimensions in order to break it. In the end it turns out the whole thing was set up by Loki to manipulate them into defeating an evil alternate-universe Loki-- maybe the one from Leah's native dimension-- because Evil Loki had used an enchantment that made it impossible for 616-Loki to harm them, which includes allies who are knowingly fighting on Loki's behalf. Better yet, it's a proxy war, and Evil Loki has recruited pawns of their own-- including Sylvie and Lisa from the Young Masters! 616-Loki does come clean when the dust is settled and finally reconnects with the Young Avengers. Loki is glad that Leah found a way to escape her destiny, but they admit that they don't feel they've succeeded in breaking out of their own cycle, to which America and Billy are like "we've seen how far you've come, but you need to remember that people care about you and stop bailing on us when we actually want to talk it out with you," which Tommy backs up because, like, he's been that person. Friendship! Character arcs that don’t fizzle out when a book wraps in under twenty issue!
Anyways, if we got a third Young Avengers volume, I'd prefer a limited run with a cohesive story, but all of the ideas I just outlined would probably work better as smaller arcs in an ongoing series. I have a lot of ideas about tying up loose threads and continuing arcs that are already in motion, but I'm hesitant to plot out what the next big step in these characters' lives should be. I definitely think it's time to give Tommy and Cassie another shot at the spotlight, and I want Eli to come back with a new costume and codename.
At this phase, it's just really hard for me to land on any larger, deeper stories because I'm so unsure of what the next few years will look like for Billy and Teddy. There's also an America title that's been in production limbo since the pandemic started, and I feel like there's some kind of drama on the horizon between the Maximoffs and Krakoa which would theoretically impact the twins as well. I also anticipate editorial pushing for Kate in a Hawkeye book when the tv show comes out.

1(Takes place in a different timeline. It might be too much so feel free to delete this if you want. You’re a great writer and I understand if you do.) prompt: Hat Kid was having a horrible day. The morning had started out great, but that was the best it got. Cooking Cat finally built up her self esteem enough for her to start talking. She was almost completely mute, but when she started warming up to her friends CC helped her build up courage to start speaking to her friends. Today was
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you for the request! I changed it to better fit how I prefer to write mostly Hat Kid, but Snatcher a bit too. I also ended up making their fight worse because that sweet, sweet angst calls to me. I hope that’s okay.
English
Speaking English was hard. Not the understanding of it, Hat Kid had a special app on her phone to help her with that until she’d mastered it – which had happened fairly quick because she was apparently a ‘prodigy’ which meant she was supposedly super smart or something – the wonders of coming from a technologically advanced civilization. But making the sounds for it was tough, thankfully physically possible for her to do but very difficult, unnatural, and uncomfortable.
She was getting the hang of it though. She practiced alone in her ship with only Rumbi as a witness, using the language app on her phone for guidance and recording. She wanted the first time she spoke in English to someone to be perfect. She was a ‘prodigy’ after all, people expected great things from her all the time, she couldn’t be seen struggling to do something as simple as speaking a language she already completely understood.
Right now, everyone thought she was mute. She hadn’t told them that, just let them assume it. When she spoke perfect clear understandable English to them, they were going to be so surprised. She’d probably bend the truth a little in explanation, say her vocal cords wouldn’t let her speak English but she’d fixed it with some alien tech she’d devised. No one should question that because aliens and magic could explain away anything and everything.
When finally at long last, she was able to speak whole tongue twisters with clear diction, she decided it was finally time to go talk to someone. After wishing Rumbi a quick “Farewell,’ – speaking English of course – she beamed down to the planet, Mafia Town to be precise.
She was never really sure where to find Mu but Cooking Cat’s studio was always a good place to look. Except she wasn’t there, neither was Cooking Cat or any of the film crew. Checking their house revealed the same thing. It was possible they were off on another business trip for the show even though they’d just come back from the Metro like two weeks ago. So, Hat Kid didn’t look many more places before giving up and moving on to Dead Bird Studio.
She found the directors brainstorming in DJ Grooves’ dressing room, the bigger of the two dressing rooms. They were sitting side by side and hunched in, looking at what was presumably the script for their next collab movie. They both looked up at her as she stepped in and closed the door behind her loud enough for them to hear.
“Hey darling,” DJ Grooves said. “You need something?”
“Yes, hello lass,” the Conductor said, speaking much more offhandedly. “We’re kind of busy right now so make it quick.”
Now was the moment of truth. The first English words she would speak to real people. If she messed this up, she would be haunted by it forever. She took a deep breath and put on a smile. “Hello Conductor. Hello DJ Grooves.” Yes! Perfect, she’d nailed it.
They both froze staring at her in silence. Eventually the Conductor broke it. “You can speak?”
“Yep, sure can. I always could, just not English. I’m an alien, remember? My vocal cords and stuff are different than yours. But I fixed it and now I can speak English too. Cool, right?” Still speaking flawlessly. Why had she ever been worried? She was a natural at this. … Sort of anyway, it had taken a lot of practice, more than she would ever admit to anyone.
The Conductor and DJ Grooves exchanged a look and had a quick whispered exchange she couldn’t make out. They then turned back to face her. “Darling, you know what this means, right?”
“Uh… no, what does it mean?”
“It means we can now cast you in speaking roles. The people are going to absolutely love you even more than they did before.”
“Yep,” the Conductor said. “We’re actually working on a script right now, almost done with it actually. One of the roles would be perfect for you now that you can speak. Want to see?” He held up the messy bunch of papers the two of them had been working on when Hat Kid came in.
She wasn’t sure she was ready for that kind of thing yet. But she couldn’t say ‘no’, could she? She didn’t want them to know she wasn’t entirely confident in her speech so… “Okay.” She liked working with them anyway even if from here on out how she worked with them would probably be very different. That was fine though, she needed the speech practice anyway.
 -
Turns out carrying a proper conversation and even acting out a few lines in English was more difficult than Hat Kid had thought it’d be. She didn’t mess up only out of sheer willpower not to because she got really close quite a few times, making the whole ordeal rather stressful. She got out as soon as she reasonably could, leaving feeling exhausted.
She should probably take a break, chill out on her ship for a while, playing video games or something. But she’d only talked to two people so far. She wanted to talk to at least one more before calling it quits for the day. Snatcher was the natural choice; he was her BFF and most of the time he wasn’t super chatty so a conversation with him shouldn’t be too taxing.
When she beamed down to Subcon, Snatcher wasn’t in his large reading hollow. Meaning Hat Kid had to go find him. Which was fine, walking through the woods was always nice. She found him in Subcon Village with all the Subconites standing in front of him, listening to whatever he was saying. Which Hat Kid didn’t get to hear any of because he stopped talking as soon as she stepped into the village.
“You are all dismissed,” he said, speaking to the Subconites who quickly scattered. “What do you want kid? I’m busy.” And apparently rather grouchy about it. So maybe now wasn’t a good time to talk to him but she’d already disturbed him so… whatever. Her revealing her ability to speak should cheer him up a bit anyway though, right?
“Hello Snatcher,” she said with a smile and a wave.
He paused in surprise but… he seemed unimpressed, crossing his arms as he frowned at her. “So you can speak now huh?” He didn’t seem to be acting either, he seemed to genuinely not care.
“Yep, sure can. Actually, I could…”
“I really don’t care kid,” he interrupted. “I have more important things to worry about right now. So peck off and talk to any of your dumb friends who do care. Just get out of my forest.” He made a shooing gesture towards her.
It was probably because Hat Kid was already tired but she was far more hurt by Snatcher’s words than she normally would be. It made her angry because she’d worked so hard on learning how to speak and he didn’t care. “You’re mean,” she said, glaring up at him.
“Have you only just now figured that out kid? You’re real slow on the uptake there, huh?” He grinned at her, mocking her, making her angrier.
“Peck you,” she said, pointing at him. “I hate you. You’re worse than Vanessa. I hope she finds you again, you two deserve each other.” She said it because it was the worst thing that came to her in the moment. There were worse things she could’ve said for sure but… this was bad enough; she regretted the words as soon as they were out of her mouth.
His grin vanished; his expression suddenly unreadable but it certainly wasn’t just furious. “Yeah well, I wished you’d stayed mute, you little brat. Now get out of my forest.”
Hat Kid sensed energy building beneath her feet. She jumped out of the way just in time to avoid one of Snatcher’s magic blasts. He didn’t follow it up with another one though. Instead he just looked at her in silence, his expression still unreadable.
Hat Kid should apologize, right? What she’d said was way out of line. But… what he’d said and done wasn’t any better, wasn’t it? Who had started it though? … She was no longer sure.
Instead of doing anything to try to fix it, she pulled out her phone and beamed herself back up to her ship. She didn’t want Snatcher to see her tears should she fail to fight them off. And he wanted her to leave anyway, rightfully so too, meaning she should, considering what had just happened. She’d apologize later when they’d both had some time to calm down.
For this request event.

I never liked TS3, but your recent gameplay pics makes it seem so fun. How many packs do you have? Do you play with any mods? This is unrelated, but I was wondering what are your opinions on Sims 4? I am asking because I love sims, but don't enjoy anything beyond sims 2 and it is becoming increasingly difficult to play the game on modern computers. My playstyle seems to match yours, so I would like to know your thoughts.
You know, I didn’t like TS3 for years. I think it was because I really wanted it to be TS2, only better. Like, the same exact game only with better graphics, more freedom with the open world, etc. When I tried to play TS3, I was spending so much time comparing it with 2 that I couldn’t appreciate it on its own merits, as a completely different creature. Which it definitely is…
And I babbled a lot (What a surprise!), so I’ll cut the rest. I just woke up, so pardon my incoherent rambling. :)
Once I finally accepted that TS3 isn’t TS2, I started to enjoy 3 a lot more, and then I started to discover its own unique strengths. Because it does have strengths over TS2 – gardening and its tight integration with cooking, for one, plus the adventure-vacations and, oh yeah, HORSES and the other pets that, annoying routing aside, are just better than TS2’s – although there are many things that I like better in TS2, of course. Primarily building. I love building neighborhoods from the ground up in TS2. Doing that is why I got the game in the first place. In TS3? I HATE BUILDING WITH THE FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. (So I’m really thankful for the people who enjoy making custom worlds! :D ) I just want to open up a fully-built, ready-to-go, but unpopulated world -- and if it’s populated I just nuke everyone with Master Controller -- and play TS3 because its gameplay is actually really fun, IMO, once you stop expecting it to be TS2. Now, to be fair, I haven’t gotten tired of TS3’s gameplay probably because I haven’t been playing the game for a solid decade, so I haven’t done all the stuff a million times yet. But in TS2, I’m starting to find the gameplay really tiresome, even with all the mods to make it more interesting. So, I break up the tedium with building, while my “playing batteries” recharge. I can see me coming to a point where I’ll stop wanting to play it, though, and just want to build in it and make stuff needed for what I build. But I still have fun playing TS3, so...yeah.
Anyway, I have all the TS3 EPs, and I kind of consider all of them essential because they all add bits (or large chunks!) of gameplay that I like. I only have one of the stuff packs – High End Loft Stuff or something? – because the base game I bought had that bundled with it. I have also *ahem* acquired *ahem* all of the store worlds and the interesting-to-me store items. (Like the canning station and the gardening/greenhouse/farm stuff and the glass-blowing/jewelry-making and the bakery set and the OFB-like stuff and…Well, you get the idea. :) )
And I have many, many mods. I have more mods than anything else, when it comes to third-party content for the game. I have pretty much all of the NRAAS mods, some of which – like Master Controller, Error Trap, and Overwatch – are essential for keeping the game running smoothly, and some of which add fun stuff. Like Traveler, which makes it so that you can have Sims living in multiple worlds in a single save (sort of like a neighborhood + subhoods in TS2), and you can bounce between them. It’s probably my favorite mod of them all. Other non-NRAAS faves involve gardening/cooking, whole packs of new plants for growing new ingredients that are needed for new recipes for the game, including cuisines for different cultures. (Greek, Indian, Mexican, etc.) Still others add more abilities and interactions for children, toddlers, and babies.
And then there’s the “adult” mod, “Kinky World,” which adds realistic animated sex and various sorts of stuff for grown-ups. I have much of it disabled because I’m not interested in having things like rape and incest and bestiality in my game, but I’m OK with drug use and sex work and especially the customizable menstrual cycle that makes baby-making far more realistic, in addition to various services added to the hospital rabbithole (sterilization procedures for both sexes as well as some sex reassignment procedures), and…Well, I confess that the flashers amuse the hell out of me, specifically different Sims’s reactions to them. *laugh* The “Kinky World” mod certainly isn’t for everyone and it does throw errors and such and the admins on the NRAAS forum really poo-poo its shoddy coding, so you probably shouldn’t use it in a save that you really care about keeping around long-term, but if you’re into that sort of stuff and you’re just screwing around (pun intended :) ), it has some interesting features. I wish I could have the menstrual cycle from it all by itself because that’s mostly why I use it.
Overall, when it comes to TS3, I think you sort of have to find your bliss with it. Go into it with an open mind, explore the game unmodded for a while, try out various aspects of its gameplay, and then decide what you don’t like and look into how to fiddle with it with mods and CC and such. Like, I thought I’d hate the whole Story Progression thing – and I would hate it, in a TS2 context – but in TS3 I actually enjoy losing (some) control over my playables when I’m not playing them. It adds randomness, sort of like things like ACR does in TS2. That said, EA’s story progression sucks in various ways. Get NRAAS’s Story Progression. It’s huge and has a scary-looking learning curve but also has extensive documentation on the NRAAS site as to what everything does, and once you get used to it, it’s really cool. You can basically decide, on a very detailed level, which things you’re OK with the game deciding as opposed to you deciding, so you can get rid of the annoying things about EA’s progression while still keeping the general idea of it.
So…yeah. Play the game with an open mind, with a “I’m just testing” sort of mindset. Find out what you do and don’t like about it, on its own merits, and don’t just assume that the things you like in 3 will be the same as the things you like in 2 because they very well might not be. Then spend time exploring mods and CC (and prepare to be enraged by Adfly and such! :P ) to change how the game works and what it looks like and stuff like that.
I did a lot of experimenting over the course of various stabs at the game over the years, trying to find something to like. I quickly discovered that the “build-a-city-esque” way I generally play in TS2 was out because I hate building in TS3, but I also discovered that, like in TS2, I’ll get bored if I only play one household all the time. So, I do still like a rotational set-up. Happily, it is pretty simple, with NRAAS’s Story Progression’s “caste” system, to do rotational play in TS3. (There’s a “how to set this up” tutorial of sorts here.) This is what I found that I like best; I’m still in the process of fiddling with the Story Progression settings for non-active playable households, to determine what level of control over them I really want. (Turns out, it’s less control than I thought I’d want, but there are still some things that I don’t want to happen without my consent.) Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is to, at first, play some “throwaway” saves in the game that you just experiment with stuff, to find worlds you like (I highly recommend My Sim Realty’s worlds because they’re CC and store-content free as well as well-constructed – no lag – and attractive) and to find out what you like in terms of gameplay. For you, it might turn out that you like nothing…or you may find that you like a lot of things. And, yes, TS3 still runs well (when modded to fix some of its inherent flaws) on modern machines. I mean, EA still sells it, after all, so it kinda has to. :)
And finally, speaking of inherent flaws… I think TS3 is the proverbial red-haired stepchild of the franchise mostly because of two things:
One, while it has grand ideas – i.e., the fully open world – it’s just not executed well. For instance, there are many construction errors in the EA worlds that cause Sims to get stuck, and when a bunch of Sims are stuck but the game still tries to make them do things, it gums up the whole works, resulting in lag, lag, lag. There are fixed EA worlds out there, though, so if you try out the game and want to play an EA world, I highly recommend finding a fixed version, so you don’t get frustrated by the world’s EA-created issues. They’re all a bit screwy in this regard, but the worst offenders are Bridgeport from Late Night and Isla Paradiso from Island Paradise. Basically, EA tried to do it all and so did most of it half-assedly. The game pretty much requires fixed worlds (if you use the EA worlds) and the error-fixing NRAAS mods in order to run smoothly. IME, custom worlds tend to run better. Not always, because some creators are just better/more experienced than others, but generally speaking. It’s probably because world creators are crafting labors of love rather than operating under pressure and a strict time-deficient production schedule. :)
Two, people were like me: They wanted TS3 to be TS2, only better, but it's not that at all. It’s a completely different game in many respects, and it seems to me that many people just couldn’t accept that. I’ve never played TS4 (so I have no opinions about it, I’m afraid), but from what I’ve seen it seems a little more 2-like, and it’s more cartoon-like (whereas TS3 was going more for realism, the pudding-Sims aside) in a way that’s more reminiscent of a “Maxis-match” TS2 game. And it’s also not the resource hog that playing a huge world in TS3 can be. So, I can see why a lot of people play TS2 and TS4 but skip TS3. I always have a tendency to zig when everyone else zags, though, and I kinda really like TS3. Go figure. *shrug*

It Had To Be You
Ch.8:  Focus // [Story Masterlist]
Pairings: Barry Allen x Original Female Character
Summary: Barry tries to move on after Belén suddenly left the city, but in doing so he begins to harbor resentment towards her.
Pronunciation of OC’s name: Bell-en. The last syllable has an emphasis so it’s not pronounced like ‘Helen’ would be.

In the following morning after going against 'Captain Cold', Barry thought a good (and hopefully civilized) talk with Belén was in order. Since she had no more classes, he assumed she would either be at home or at her job. Calling would've been pointless since she hadn't answered any of his calls the previous night so guessing was all he had to go by.
He was knocking incessantly on Belén's front door - he was hoping her father wasn't there so he wouldn't have to awkwardly explain the reason behind his pounds on the door. After five minutes of knocking, he gave up. Giving it one quick scope with his speed he finally concluded that no one was home.
That left CC Pictures.
"Hi, Barry," Linda greeted him from her desk when he walked in.
"Linda," Barry headed for her desk while taking a look at the current employees rushing about. He assumed after the tumbling train and cold gun incident, the news was buzzing with new articles. "I need to talk to Belén. Can you call her?"
Linda's face scrunched in confusion. "Barry, I thought you knew."
"Knew what?"
"Belén called in last night - she's left the city."
Barry's eyebrows raised, equally confused as the reporter. "She...she...she what?"
Linda rose from her chair, lightly tapping her knuckles on her desk. "I was hoping to bump into you or one of her other friends so that someone could explain this. She called in last night and said she was going to be taking a break. She understood her job here could be lost but she seemed very determined to leave."
"Did...did she give you any sort of reasoning?" Barry asked, the wave of guilt not wasting time in hitting. "Or, where she went to?"
"Nothing just that she needed a break," Linda shrugged, clearly doubtful that it was the truth. "I told her her job was safe. But, between you and I, if she's gone for a long time I won't be able to help her later on. You think you can pass on the message?"
Even though he had no idea where Belén could've possibly gone, he still nodded his head. "Yeah…"
"Barry?" Linda called when Barry was already halfway back to the doors. "Do you know why Belén would just pick up and leave?"
"Uh…"
"I mean, I know she's gone through a lot of stuff lately but if she wanted to do something like this she would've done it a long time ago…"
Barry swallowed hard and forced himself to shake his head. "N-no...not at all…"
Linda seemed to trust him but looked no less disappointed. With a polite smile, they bid goodbye and Barry rushed to go find the missing (possible) metahuman.

2 Months Later.
"Felicity, I'm here, but are you sure this is the place?"
"Positive, Belén. There's been tons of break-ins into this jewelry store by that gumbo woman."
"Plasticine, you meant Plasticine."
"Eugh, that's still a creepy name."
Belén rolled her eyes and came to a stop in front of the jewelry store that barely had any customers inside. It seemed like a perfectly normal jewelry store yet she has discovered - thanks to the wonderful techy powers of Felicity Smoak - that this was a preferred robbing spot for the metahuman known as Plasticine.
"Belén," came Oliver Queen's voice through her earpiece, "Remember what I told you to do."
"Yes, yes," Belén's eyes - which were hidden behind tendrils of vines forming a nice mask with small Azaleas decorating its corners - quickly glanced down at her hands. She flexed them over and over as she saw spots of green trying to make its way across her skin. No, she told herself. That needed to go away. "I learn fast, remember?" she answered in a perfectly normal voice, nothing that would ever indicate what she was trying to desperately hide.
"Two months is hardly fast."
"Shut up," Belén commanded and she was sure Felicity had done something from the other line to make it so.
As Belén's eyes re-opened, this time more focused on her task. Her ombre-blonde hair, which had been picked up into a high pony-tail, were being overun by thin roots with green vines that contained several small azaleas throughout its course. It was just enough to cover her blonde tips (in case any civilian identified it and configured back to her).
Her dark green leather jacket, whose green shade faded midway to turn into a hot pink just like her pants, was zipped closed as she burst into the store.
"Customers," her perfectly modulated voice (thanks to Felicity's addition to the earpiece) made everyone in the building stop, "get out."
See, the good thing about Central City now was that when some crazed leather bound person ordered those three words people listened in a snap. When customers had ran out, Belén sealed the door by wrapping her vines all over them.
"Freeze!" came the predicted security guard behind her.
"Belén," Oliver's voice warned the young woman before she made her move.
"I know," Belén rolled her eyes and thrust a hand back to the guard. A thick green vine had shot out from her palm and swiftly snatched the gun from the officer, breaking it two before letting it drop to the floor. "I don't mean to hurt anyone," she addressed the rest of the people in the room, "I need to talk to a certain employee: Alizae Fraye."
The woman in question squeaked in terror and instantly had Belén turning in her direction. Belén felt a little guilty since she already knew the woman thanks to her sister. She hoped neither would ever found out about this.
"I don't want to hurt you," Belén clarified. "I'm only here to ask questions."
The woman, a brunette, gave a light nod but it didn't mean she wasn't terrified.
"Belén, there's about two minutes before the police get there," Felicity called from the earpiece.
"Get in, and get out," added Oliver.
"A woman in purple, shoots some sort of purple gumbo, she comes here to steal every month or so. Correct?"
Alizae nodded.
"But she never hurts anyone does she?"
Alizae shook her head.
"And whenever she comes in, she always come straight for you. Why?"
Alizae shrugged. "I…don't know…" she croaked.
Belén looked around the room, the people paralyzed with fear of what she would do next. "There has to be a connection here," her voice hardened intentionally. "A woman with powers comes in here every month - always on the same day and time - and she takes a couple priceless jewelry then makes a clean getaway."
"She knows what she's coming for," the guard that had tried to shoot her was now helping, apparently.
That was a good thing, Belén smiled.
"It's like she knows where everything is," Belén acknowledged his help with a light nod.
"From the moment she got here," a third employee spoke up, a male, "she knew where everything was. Like...like…"
"She had already visited the store before," Belén finished for him. "See, I can understand that. She's clever, she scopes out her place before robbing it. What I can't understand is why she always comes to you," she pointed a pink nailed polished finger at Alizae. "Why you?"
"I swear to you I don't know," Alizae whimpered.
"And she doesn't hurt anyone either," Belén continued on. "This is like a normal day at the grocery store for her. But see, here's another thing: she's big and bad with her powers so she can do far better than measly jewelry here - no offense," she quickly added, "Why settle for this?"
"She says she doesn't like doing it," Alizae dared to reveal. "I can see it too - in her eyes - that she does it with hesitancy."
"Useful," Belén thought and looked up at the cameras. With both her hands she shot out vines and smashed them to pieces. "Sorry," she honestly said to the others, "I didn't steal nor hurt anyone but I still don't want trouble. This was interesting, thank you all."
With a wide smile, she let her vines enclose themselves around her body and in a snap, they fled the building.

"I should be leaving," Belén walked alongside Nina, the latter in regular clothes. The dark, lonesome street allowed for an uninterrupted conversation between the two.
"If you truly believed that then we wouldn't have left our suitcases back at my place," Nina smirked.
"Yeah, but...I don't know, I'm nervous," Belén bit on one of her nails.
"Course you are - you've changed."
"Thanks, Nina," Belén rolled her eyes. "I feel better, and I'm going to be better. It's just seeing them all…"
The two women trailed off at the sound of a police sirens. They exchanged concerned looks before running towards the scene. It appeared there had been an explosion of some sort. The consequences were grave but what really took it home was the man hanging onto a loose window scaffold.
"Help! Help!" the man frantically cried from the top.
"That's gotta be at least forty feet high," Nina raised her eyebrows.
Belén stepped fowards, turning her palms upwards. "Hmm…"
"Bells, don't," Nina warned when she saw the idea forming into Belén's mind.
"Why not? This is why I left in the first place. Besides, it's not the first saving I'd be doing."
"Yeah, but do this, and you could get caught by that someone you say you're not ready to bump into."
"That man is going to die and I'm not gonna let it happen because of silly nervousness." Belén made her declaration with the utmost honesty. Without hearing Nina's next response, she rushed off to go help the poor man that was literally hanging from a tearing rope.
She tilted her head and cracked her neck, simultaneously stretching her hands. Nina was right, the man was up at least forty levels and she hadn't quite stretched her powers that far. She needed to be extra careful. She cast another look at her hands and saw the same greeness trying to make its presence. I said no. She balled them up and backtracked a little before thrusting her right hand forwards and released one of her thick vines. It stuck to the wall like a suckers and she did the same with her other hand, landing the second vine rope-like mass. Using them like anchors, she brought herself up. Ignoring the fact she was oh-so-many-feet high, she got onto the falling scaffold, using one of her vines to keep it to a regular position.
"It'll be alright," she assured the awed and terrified man. "It's gonna feel weird, but I'll get you down," she promised.
Multiple vines extended from her body and wrapped around the man's body. Belén admitted there was the adrenaline she grew to love from doing stuff like this. It was rather wonderful knowing you could have peoples' lives in your hands - or in this case vines - and that you could keep them protected when no one else could.
Those were her thoughts as she watched her vines lower the man down the building. She gently let him down to the ground.
And then she got a crazy idea she knew Nina would scold her about later. She let herself drop headfirst and laughed as she put her hands together. They created an extra thick vine that helped her land with a front handspring move.
It would've been a perfect ending if there hadn't been a watcher nearby.
"Wo-oah…" she sucked in a breath at the sight of her good friend Iris West standing across.
Iris looked wonderstruck of all she saw - and with great reason!
Belén's first instinct was to look down. Her mask would only cover her so much, and she was no where near ready to try her...other side. But, her hair tips were covered with stringlets of roots and flowers till it covered up her identifiable blonde tips.
Iris thought for sure she had squeaked then. Yes, she was sure.
She made a step towards Belén but in the next second vines had entangled themselves around Belén and taken her away from the scene.

In Jitters, Barry sat alone at a table waiting for Iris to come over with his ordered coffee. It was a particularly casual day, waiting for STAR Labs to come up with an identity for the person who mysteriously bombed an elite storage room the previous night. This case, however, was more interesting than any other case: the army had come to take it over. Just like that, they swept up the case with all its compartments and took off.
But, Barry managed to snag the most important part of the evidence and got it to STAR Labs right away for analyzation.
"Oh my God," Iris' voice made him snap out of his thoughts. She was coming over with her pot of coffee, but her eyes were stuck past him to the doors. "Barry, look."
He followed her gaze and glanced back to see Nina Clarke coming. On any other occasion, the appearance would've been normal…
2 Months ago:
"Hey," Barry greeted Caitlin as he walked in, the bio-engineer anxiously looking up at him.
"How'd it go?" she asked.
"Not good," Barry leaned against the side of the desk. "Get this, Nina took an absence of leave-" he did air quotation marks, "-from the hospital this morning. I checked her apartment and she wasn't there anymore."
"That's highly suspicious," Caitlin made a face.
"Very," Barry agreed. "Belén leaves last night, and then today one of her friends does the same? And with no specific reason?"
"You think she's where Belén is?"
"Of course. But question is, where?"
At that moment, Cisco strode into the room, and he looked nowhere pleased.
"How'd it go with you?" Barry asked him, though by the big sigh Cisco gave he could tell it wasn't going to get better.
"I talked to Bells' dad and he said he had no idea Belén was going to do this," Cisco plopped down in one of the desk chairs.
"Did you believe him?" Caitlin arched an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he was looking worried too," Cisco shrugged. "But he knows where she is now-" and just as Barry opened his mouth he added, "-and he said Bells told him not to say anything. She wanted a 'break'."
"Looks like Belén doesn't want to be found," Caitlin concluded with the obvious facts. She leaned back on her chair, sadly smiling at her two friends. "I think we need to respect her decision."
"But that's just it!" Barry exclaimed suddenly, startling the two. "It was a stupid, rash decision! She left the city because of me! Because I...I lied."
The pang his heart gave was a painful one.
"Do you think Bells is back too?" Iris quietly whispered to Barry as the two watched Nina go up to the counter to order.
Out of everyone, Iris was the most concerned of Belén's friends. She really had no idea what possessed Belén to get up and leave the way she had. No one seemed to know where Belén had run off to, nor her reasons. Even her graduation party had been cancelled because of her sudden departure. Her father had picked up her certificate from the office the day before the graduation ceremony took place. As far as Iris knew, Linda had hired some newly graduated student to cover Belén's position in the meantime the woman was gone.
Overall, Iris was confused and she just missed her friend.
"We should talk to her," Iris resolved and glanced at Barry for his opinion. He was mildly glaring at the nurse and while Iris could understand (in some way) his annoyance with the abrupt leave, she hit him in the arm. "It's not her fault Bells left! Don't you dare ruin this," she warned with a finger before going to greet Nina.
Nina wasn't surprised to find the younger woman taking her order. She politely smiled. "Hello, Iris."
"Nina, it's been a long time," Iris mustered her gracefulness and patience for this conversation.
"Has it?" Nina chuckled.
"Only been two months but...who's counting?" Iris chuckled alongside but it was easily fake as Nina's. "Can I get your order?"
"Espresso, please."
Iris nodded and dotted it on the register. "So...are you back in the city for good now?"
"Oh yeah, definitely," Nina answered, reaching for her wallet inside her bag. "I had to take care of some personal stuff."
"Did that 'personal stuff' also require Belén?"
Nina didn't seem fazed by the question as she handed Iris a ten dollar bill. Her smile was gone but her voice was still polite. "Actually, it was personal matters for each of us."
Iris accepted the bill and worked with the register. "Was it resolved?"
"Hm, yes, in a way, it was."
"And is she okay?"
"In what fits, Iris, yes. She's finally accepted her brother's death but how well can a sibling be when they accept that their twin is dead and with no recovered body to mourn?"
Iris had held out Nina's change and was left to think about the question with a decent amount of guilt. She had never thought about Belén leaving for her brother. Truthfully, at one point, Iris believed Belén was just doing this on purpose. How was she supposed to know this was about Rayan?
"Is she back now?" she whispered. "Is she back in the city?"
Nina took her change and put it back into her wallet. "I'll wait over there," she pointed to a lonesome table near the doors then left.
Iris glumly went to prepare the espresso. It was then that Barry got up to take his opportunity.
"Hello Barry," Nina greeted without so much of a glance from her phone screen. "How's it going?"
"Are you serious?" the hard tone in his voice made her chuckle.
"Oh, don't tell me you're mad. Out of everyone you are the least person with the right to be mad."
"I don't think it's funny when a friend disappears and has all of us going crazy wondering what happened."
Nina finally raised her eyes to the metahuman, and her sarcasm was no longer with her. "She's fine, Barry. She left because she thought it was the right thing to do for her. It has nothing to do with what fell out between you two."
While it did relieve Barry somewhat it wasn't enough. He took a seat across her, earnestly speaking. "Where is she? Where did she go?"
Nina just smiled at him. "You'll see her again, don't worry."
"That's not what I'm asking," Barry snapped. "Where the hell did she go?"
"She won't be the same, though," Nina warned, acting as if Barry hadn't said anything yet.
"That's not what-"
"She's a bit scared though of how you'll react - how everyone will react…"
"Nina!" Barry had slammed a hand on the table, not loud enough to cause a distraction but enough to make the doctor flinch on her spot. "I have spent the last two months going crazy wondering where it is she could've gone to. I get it, I messed up, and she's mad. But the least she can do is give us a call to let us know she's fine."
Nina bit her lip, looking reluctant of her next words. "The thing with her brother, it's part of the reason why she left. I love her, I really do, but I'm afraid what's gonna happen now that...that she's…"
"Now that she's…?" Barry motioned her to keep going.
"Here's your espresso," Iris chirped and set down the coffee cup on the table. She looked between Nina and Barry, getting strange vibes from them. "Um...am I interrupting?"
"No," Nina picked up her espresso and got up. "It was nice seeing you guys. I have to get to my shift. Bye."
"Well that was strange," Iris sighed and looked over to Barry. "Did she tell you anything about Bells?"
Barry was left in an even fouler mood than before. "No," he answered shortly and also got up.
"Do you think if we-"
"I have to go Iris," was his last statement before promptly (and what Iris deemed as rudely) leaving as well.
He had only made it halfway down the street when his phone vibrated. As soon as he answered it, Cisco quickly told him of the last known address (which in reality was an emergency contact) of their new metahuman in the city. As it turned out, Bette Sans Souci had a an address not too far. Getting in the suit, he sped to go find her.
He came into an alleyway where a tall ginger woman had been running from a staircase. She yelped when he came to a stop right in front of her. Immediately, she backtracked but Barry wasn't gonna let her go.
"Bette Sans Souci? I need you to come with me!"
"Don't touch me!" the woman nearly pleaded but Barry grabbed her by the wrist and yanked her forwards.
Her hand landed on his suit's emblem and she blinked with terror as it began shifting into a bright purple. "Get whatever you're wearing off of you. Hurry!"
Barry wasn't one to listen to strangers so quick but just for once he would make an exception. He sped away from her and got the suit off just mere seconds before it exploded into nothing!
Back at STAR Labs, Cisco was trying to get through to Barry while Caitlin assured him everything was fine on the other side.
"Barry? Can you hear me? Barry?"
"There must be a perfectly reasonable explanation for why he's not answering."
And then Barry sped in, going for the spare clothes in one of the side rooms.
"Barry?" Caitlin eyed him curiously as he came back out with pants he surely did not have before and pulling down a gray shirt over himself. "Uh…?"
"Don't ask," Barry mumbled, still not over what happened.
Cisco's eyes roamed the entire room for his crimson suit. "I'm gonna ask. Where's my suit?"
"It's... Gone."
Cisco straightened in his chair, his brow furrowing."What do you mean, it's gone? What did you do with my suit?"
"It blew up, dude. I managed to get out of it before it went, "kaboom."
"My suit went "kaboom"?"
Barry ignored Cisco's processing and walked over to the desk. "Fun fact about Bette Sans Souci. She's not carrying bombs. She touched the emblem on the suit and turned it into a bomb. She's a meta-human."
Dr. Wells came into the main room having heard the revelation. "With the ability to cause spontaneous combustion upon tactile contact."
Cisco was scowling by then. "She blew up my suit."
Caitlin rolled her eyes at him. "You have, like, three more."
"Okay, I have two. And I loved that one!"
"All right, what else do we know about her?" Barry asked from the two, now a little more impatient to find her.
Cisco leaned towards one of the computers and began looking up the recent information they had downloaded on the metahuman. "Oh, I don't know. She's pure evil. We're gonna find this girl and send her butt into the pipeline. No one blows my tech to smithereens and gets away with it…" his irritated tone vanished upon seeing a picture of the mysterious Bette, "Unless she looks like that."
"I don't think she meant to hurt me," Barry admitted to them.
"Well, her being a meta-human explains General Eiling's interest in her," Wells remarked.
At that moment, Joe came in and didn't look too surprised of what he'd heard so far. "And why he stole the case from us. He didn't want anyone to know what she could do. So... Human bomb. Must be Tuesday in Central City."
"Yes, and General Eiling's not one to give up a potential asset without a fight."
"We have to find her before he does."
"Barry?" Joe asked once the others got to work. "Can I see you for a second?" Barry nodded and followed him out into the corridor. "We've got a problem with Iris. She saw a metahuman - upclose at a police scene."
"I wasn't there, it wasn't me," Barry's hands shot up in immediate innocence.
"I know it wasn't you - it was a woman, least that's what Iris says."
"Well, maybe it was this one," Barry gestured to the room but Joe shook his head.
"This one bombs, the one that Iris saw apparently shoots plants or something."
Barry stiffened, not that Joe noticed. He was too preoccupied with his daughter at the moment.
"She's writing a blog now-"
"I already talked to her about that," Barry reminded, though his thoughts were beginning to roam from the conversation.
"Talk to her again. And be more convincing."
"Okay," Barry nodded and was about to go back inside when he caught Joe's sharp look. "Oh! You mean, right now?"
"Yes, I do," Joe motioned him to get a move on.
"Alright," Barry hurriedly left.

Sticking to his word, Barry was back at Jitters and desperately trying to get Iris to sway from her sudden passion.
"You've got to stop writing about these people - they don't exist."
Iris scoffed and turned to him, lowering the tray she was carrying. "I saw one of them, alright? They do too exist. I went to that crime scene thinking just maybe I would get a glimpse of the Streak but instead I saw this woman who singlehandedly saved a man from plummeting to his death. She wore this green and pink outfit…"
While Barry was listening attentively to her description of this new metahuman (that clearly was not Bette) he played it off with disbelief. "I mean, Iris, come on. You were drinking last night at the bar," he reminded her of their previous night out with their friends.
"I was not drunk, and I know what I saw," Iris said with a hint of annoyance. "It was amazing. I watched her dive from a window scaffold and landed perfectly on her feet and she only used these vines," she turned over one of her palms for gesture. "They just shot out from her hands! And body! It was incredible, Barry!"
All the details began ringing a red alert in Barry's mind.
It was just oddly familiar.
"I want to have people know that there are these extraordinary people out there saving us. What is wrong with you?" Iris stopped to give Barry an accusing look. "This is important to me. Why can't you be more supportive?"
"I'm just... you haven't even put your name on it. How serious can you be about an anonymous blog?"
Iris had enough of all the useless questionnaires and comments on something she was really interested in. "Okay, you know what? Our entire lives, you couldn't scream loud enough that the impossible existed. And now it's actually happening in Central City. I have proof of it, and you don't want to know about it? That doesn't make sense, Barry. So when you're ready to tell me what this whole routine is really about, then we can talk."
In other occasions, her being mad at him would've been bigger but all Barry could think of was the last time he had heard of a metahuman with vines.
Well, he wasn't going to sit there and watch her laugh at him like that.

"I'm looking through them, Felicity," Belén was in Nina's apartment, sitting at the kitchen table with a laptop in front of her. She was talking to the blonde techie over the cellphone while looking at a previous robbery of the jewelry store she visited last night. "I just don't understand what exactly I'm looking for this time. Oliver's already had me scour through them for clues till I broke down and you know it."
"Well, here's the one I wanted you to look at," Felicity said and soon Belén got the ping of an e-mail alert. She opened it up to find a video, security footage, of the Stagg building.
"Felicity, what am I looking at exactly?" Belén asked in confusion as she watched the video. It had a viewpoint from a nearby building by Stagg's, and as the seconds went by Belén saw the woman in purple standing at the rooftop of a building that would be just across Stagg's.
"These are a couple of videos I montaged," Felicity began to explain. "See, this one was when there was the incident with Simon Stagg and the tons of clones."
"Okay…"
"Now this is the night where Barry fought said metahuman, and do you see what's happening in the meantime of this fight?"
"Nothing," Belén shrugged. "She's just...watching."
"Exactly - she's watching. And do you know what else I've picked up on?"
"No, but please tell."
"There's other security video feed of her just 'happening' to be around when there's a metahuman or robbery going on. It's not always but there's a good 80% she will be there."
"She's got no life, then," Belén joked to herself.
It was short lived as a strong wind blew everything save the computer off the table.
"Belén? Is something wrong?" Felicity's voice barely made a noise in the already silent apartment. "Belén…?"
Barry had entered in a completely abrupt and rude way into the apartment, but he currently did not care. Belén ended her call with one click of a finger and put the phone down.
"Barry…?" She rose from her chair, unsure of how to even talk to him anymore.
Barry was in the same predicament, unsure how to address the woman across him. There was a turmoil of emotions washing over him and he didn't know which one was the one he felt the most.
"How did you...how did you know to find me here?" Belén discreetly closed the laptop beside her.
"I saw Nina earlier today," Barry said quietly. He was staring hard at her, studying her appearance for anything that would tell him (or give him a clue) as to where it was she had gone off to.
Belén nervously bit her lip, her feet locked on the spot she was in. "No one knows I'm here, though. My Dad...he doesn't know yet. Can you please not tell him anything?"
Barry surprised her by lightly laughing. "I'm sorry, after everything you're asking me a favor?"
There was the seeping anger Belén had been expecting.
"I know I don't deserve anything but it's important," she whispered.
"You don't get to ask favors from me anymore."
"I know-"
"No you don't!" Barry snapped. "You left, Belén! You left without saying a word to any of us! One call," he pointed at her, "One measly call to let us know you were fine would've been enough. It didn't even have to be to me!"
"I told my father to tell you all," Belén meekly reminded.
"Getting a message isn't the same thing!" Barry's voice kept rising and rising, and he knew it was completely out of his character to do so but looking at her and seeing she was fine made it all the more angering when he remembered how guilty he'd been (and still was) for causing her to leave. "I thought we were friends-"
"So did I," Belén finally made a comeback. "I thought we were friends but then I came to the shocking surprise he'd been laughing at me behind my back by pretending to be some super hero helping me."
"And you thought the best way to get back at me was to flee the city?"
"My choice in leaving was not about you!"
"Yeah, right. Admit it Belén, you wanted to hurt me like I hurt you."
Now it was Belén growing angry, and unlike Barry she had less control of her feelings. She could feel that other side trying to creep its way to the surface. "Stop it! I left for other reasons that didn't include some silly revenge!"
"Are you sure about that?" Barry challenged her, taking a couple steps towards her. Her teary eyes were not going to get him to back down, not this time. "What I did was wrong, I admit that and I take my
responsibility for it. But what you did, hurt not only me, it hurt everyone else. You left us, and you made me feel like it was because of ME me. Do you know what feels like?"
"It wasn't like that," Belén persisted, but her voice was faltering.
Barry shook his head. "And then you come back as a metahuman - because don't you dare lie to me and say you aren't - and let Iris see you."
Belén's eyes shot up to him, surprised he'd figured it out and that he knew of the incident with Iris. "You looked at the results…"
"No, I promised you I wouldn't so I didn't. Iris told me about it, and it doesn't take a genius to figure it out if you were at the scene of your kidnapper's vacation home. You have powers and you've been using them!"
"And I suppose you're gonna fault me again because I didn't tell you?" Belén arched an eyebrow. "Because remember, when I met you I was under the belief you were just Iris' best friend who worked as a forensics."
"But now that you know, and that you're in this world, you need to know that Iris cannot know anything about us."
"What-"
"Joe doesn't want her to know and we have to respect that. But if she keeps writing about this, about you and me and anyone else, she's going to get hurt!"
"But I didn't plan on seeing her, honest! Like I said, no one knows I'm back!"
"I'm just giving you one warning, Belén. This was it."
Belén confusingly watched him head for the door. "So that's just it? You're not going to talk to me anymore?"
"Isn't that what you wanted?" Barry glanced back, reminding her of her requests. "You said if I talked to you again I would be punched."
"I was angry with you, Barry! I could've said a lot of things I clearly didn't mean!"
"Now I'm mad at you, and I think I know I mean it when I say don't talk to me."
Belén stifled a sob as she made to come after him. "B-Barry!"
But he was already gone.
Through her feelings, she felt that same feeling start at her hands. Gasping she looked at her hands and was horrified to see that emerald green beginning to fully cover her skin this time.
"No! No! No! No!" she dashed to the bathroom and slammed the door shut with lock. She put herself in front of the mirror to see parts of her face also sporting some blotches of green. "Go away! Go away!" she shouted at it and screwed her eyes shut, hands firmly gripping the edges of the sink.
"Go away, go away, go away, go away, go away," she repeated like a chant.

"And you said that to her? All of that?" Caitlin was gaping towards Barry after hearing the incident between him and the newly arrived Belén.
"Not cool, dude, not cool," Cisco said distractedly while recording Bette's numbers onto the computer.
They had finally met with Bette, under some bad circumstances, and took her back to STAR Labs to get a clearer understanding of her abilities. But due to General Eiling still after her, they were forced to take her into the training area a bit quicker than planned so that Dr. Wells could deal with the man.
"Barry, I don't think that was the best way to greet her," Caitlin gently said, understanding where Barry's anger was coming from.
"I couldn't help it!" Barry exclaimed and paced back and forth beside the table of computers and other objects for Bette's exams. "I was so mad that she came back like nothing!"
"Well, did you expect her to be begging for forgiveness?" Cisco asked, still appearing to be annoyed with him.
"No, Cisco, but I did expect some sort of explanation."
"So did you let her talk? Because you have a tendency not to when you're mad at someone."
"You know, it sounds like you're taking her side, Cisco," Barry suspiciously said, crossing his arms.
"I'm not," Cisco clarified before anything else was said. "It's just...I don't think what needed to be said was said. I wanna talk to Bells and find out why she left."
"Good luck," Barry scoffed and walked off to go see how Bette was doing.
"That went well," Caitlin remarked and eyed a boomerang Cisco had apparently brought for the tests. Bette was supposed to throw the objects to the sky for them to explode but clearly Cisco forgot about that small detail.
"I can't believe he shouted a her," Cisco muttered.
"Look, on some level, it is understandable. We can't blame Barry after these two months. He felt guilty, and he still does. What Belén did was wrong. What did she expect was going to happy?"

"What did you expect was going to happen, hm?" Nina stood in front of the couch where Belén was sitting.
The ombre-blonde was sitting cross-legged, currently sniffing as tears fell from her eyes.
"You left abruptly and you didn't even bother giving your friends a call. It's a natural response to be angry."
"I know I deserved it, but it doesn't mean it didn't hurt," Belén meekly argued.
Of course she had expected for Barry and the others to be angry with her decision and the way she executed it. She wasn't expecting some sort of big welcome back nor immediate friendship. Those were the first warnings Felicity, and then others of Starling City told her, but she was firm on her decision.
She still was.
"It doesn't help to cry, Belén," Nina sighed and walked into the kitchen.
"There's nothing more I can do," Belén finally looked up. "I messed up and these are the consequences that I have to endure."
"By crying?" Nina rolled her eyes and plopped down at the table, re-opening the laptop Belén had forgone a while ago.
"Well, I'm sorry but not everyone can be rigid like the great Nina Clarke is," Belén rolled her eyes but the statement seemed to only amuse Nina.
"I'm only saying instead of sitting on my couch and sobbing for your woes, go out there and do something about it."
"Like what?"
"I don't know, but I would start by returning your life to normal. Right now, you're stressed and your mind is clouded with Rayan's case."
"That's because he's my only priority right now. I'm not gonna get distracted."
Nina shook her head and raised her eyes from the computer screen for a moment. "Being what we are - metahumans - is already weird and distancing. Don't add unnecessary negatives to it."
Belén leaned back on the cushion, still pouting. Nina went back to the computer and for a while there was no more conversation. It wasn't until Nina gasped in what sounded like horror that Belén forewent her sad thoughts.
"Nins, what is it?"
"Your friend Iris really wants to die," Nina was blinking wide-eyed at the screen. Belén got up and rushed to go see what was Iris had done now.
"Oh my God," Belén said with a mixture of horror and weariness.
Iris had posted a new article for her blog...with her name written on it this time.
"She just doesn't get the memo," Nina scrolled through the newest post.
"Barry told me Iris posted a new thing about me, but I didn't really think about what would happen."
"This can't keep going. One of these days someone will make the connection she knows 'the Streak' and now you."
"It's my fault," Belén walked away from the table, running her hands through her now messy hair. "And you know, no matter what happens I don't want Iris getting hurt when she's the least one who deserves it."
"So what are you planning on doing?" Nina asked, genuinely curious.
"Exactly what Barry did to me when I most needed it," Belén turned around with a wide smile.
"Oh, no…"

Later that night, Iris was busy cleaning up inside Jitters so that she could properly close down and leave. There was a light knock on the door followed by a bell chime.
"Sorry, we're closed," Iris called without looking up from the dishes she was collecting.
"I was hoping you would make an exception."
Iris nearly let the cups in her hands fall after seeing several tendrils of vines passing through the doors. The tendrils swirled up from the floor into the shape of a figure until it became the familiar woman in green Iris had seen. "Oh, my God, it's you!"
Belén stood there in her 'vigilante' outfit, with the flower mask around her eyes. Her hair was covered in the strings of roots that hid her blonde tips.
"You remember from one night?" Belén mused, her modulated voice coming as not a surprise for Iris.
"Actually," Iris beamed and put down her glasses to go retrieve her bag behind the counter. "I knew you were familiar from somewhere and I couldn't just let it go!"
'Course you couldn't," Belén hid her smile by looking to the side.
Iris had pulled out her computer and set it on the counter. "There have been reportings of a mysterious new addition to the Arrow's team…" she turned the computer over to Belén's direction, "...it's you. Isn't it?"
Belén took no steps towards her. Instead, she extended a hand and with a vine sprouting from her palm she brought the computer over to her. She looked intently onto the screen where several news pictures had caught her in low resolution pictures.
"It's so you," Iris concluded on her own after taking a moment to really study the woman.
"Yes," Belén saw no point in denying what was so clear on picture. Slowly, she returned the laptop to the counter. "You looked me up?"
"Of course," Iris said as it were obvious. "Why wouldn't I?"
"Because you don't know me, no one knows me."
"I know. Right now, it's all about the Streak. But…" Iris came around the counter with a wide smile, "...girls need the recognition too, right? I saw you save that man last night, and I've been going through some of Star City's news online. You're a hero, just like the Streak. What have you been doing over at Star City though? Or, why did you decide to come here now?"
Belén sucked in a breath. "Can we speak somewhere else? Like, the rooftop?"
Iris nodded her head, forgetting her duties and motioning to the staircase leading up to the roof. Belén just smiled and motioned her go first. Iris did so and was halfway up when she realized the woman had never followed. She ran up the remainder of stairs and came to the surprise of finding Belén already waiting for her.
"How did you…?" Iris laughed, looking around for a clue as to how she was beaten. "How did you do that? You're fast too?"
Belén sat on the ledge of the building, leaning forwards over her knees. "It's much more fun using my vines to climb buildings. I'm no Streak but I do set my own speed records when I turn vine-ish…"
Iris figured and laughed again.
Belén remained serious and stood up. "I need you to stop writing about me, about any of us with powers. The Streak agrees."
"You know each other?" Iris brightened up, and Belén inwardly smacked herself on the face. Apparently, that was all that Iris had heard from her statement. "Are you like...like some superhero duo now? Or-"
"Iris," Belén raised a hand to cut in, "please just listen. It's not safe for you to keep writing about us."
"But there are a lot of people who need someone like you guys right now. To know that you're out there."
"Maybe not," Belén countered. "This writing stuff, isn't it becoming a problem for you and your family? I would assume they would be concerned for your safety. And I have to be honest, putting your name on this newest article wasn't your smartest idea."
"You read my article?" Iris gasped.
Again, she only heard the last of Belén's words.
"You are a fantastic writer and I have no doubt that you will go on to do amazing things in journalism...but just not with these articles."
"Why are you so keen on me letting it go? Don't you want people to know about you? To know about the Streak?"
"Personally, I haven't the faintest idea why you decided to post something about me," Belén put a hand over her chest.
"Because you're just as amazing," Iris shrugged, coming to take a step towards her. "You climb buildings with vines! Not to mention, you actually turn into vines! You are amazing!"
Belén bitterly laughed, and though it was dark Iris could clearly see the woman's green eyes glossy.
"What's the matter?" she gently asked. "You don't believe it?"
Belén looked at her friend with a sad smile. "You don't know me, Iris West. I am not grand, I am not deserving of any articles written for me. You want a hero, you go to the Streak. Me? I'm not a good person."
"Yes, you are," Iris was quick to interject, the soft smile across her lips nearly making Belén believe it. "Why wouldn't you believe it?"
"A good person doesn't hurt their friends nor family - that is exactly what I've done," Belén bit her lip, hating herself for talking about this...but her lips wouldn't stop opening. "I did a bad thing a while back. I was mad at a friend and I made a decision that same day that I knew would hurt him back." Belén then lowly laughed when she made the realization. "I guess, in a way, I wanted him to hurt like he made me hurt. But my decision didn't just hurt him, it hurt a lot more people...and I don't know how to fix it."
Iris wished nothing more than to go over and hug this mysterious woman who in reality seemed a lot more vulnerable than what the media portrayed. It was just a reminder that heroes were still human. "That doesn't make you a bad person," Iris gently declared. "Everyone makes mistakes, but what matters is how you intend on fixing them. This doesn't stop you from being a hero in my eyes."
"I'm not a hero, Iris," Belén reiterated.
Iris smirked, tilting her head in that way that told Belén it was already set in stone. "Too late. I just need a name to call you. Do you have one?"
"No," Belén chuckled and sniffed. "Because, as I said, I'm not a hero. I'm not doing this for glory or recognition."
"So why do you?"
"For someone very important in my life," Belén thought to her elder twin brother.
"Yeah?" Iris stepped forwards again. "Well then hear my side. I have this friend, and he had something terrible happen to him when he was a kid. His whole life, he's been telling stories about this impossible thing. And people laughed at him. And shrinks analyzed him. And he's been searching for an explanation ever since. But now, suddenly, it's like he's lost his faith. But you and the Streak... you two are proof that he wasn't crazy. Help me save my friend."
Belén could've burst into more sobs if she didn't have more control of herself. "He is a very lucky guy, you know."
"Believe me, he's not," Iris confided in a dramatic whisper. "He's overly clumsy and everything happens to him whenever it comes to dropping something, crashing into someone, or even just making friends. But this thing that happened to him as a kid, I can help him with that. This is why I'm doing my blog, please help me."
Belén raised a turned palm and slowly created a small, pink flower. But it was a specific flower, one that Iris saw a couple times.
"Is that an Azalea?" she pointed.
"Mhm. It's the source of my powers, apparently," Belén had a vine take the flower to Iris. "The thing about these flowers, they're adorable and they're beautiful...but they are also known for their deadly side."
Iris took the fragile flower into her hands and looked at Belén, confused.
"What I'm intending on doing others may call a suicide mission. I don't want you getting caught in the crossfire because of an article you wrote. Keep the flower, change your blog. Goodbye."
"But-" Iris called to the woman in vain as she dropped from the ledge again. She looked at her new flower and walked back into the building.

"Maritza's been slacking," Angie put a laptop in front of Rayan Palayta. "There's a new metahuman in town as reported by Iris West. Doesn't your sister know that girl?"
Rayan snatched the laptop to his lap and read the article Iris had written. "This one's different. She's helping the Streak. See, this is what I knew would happen if we let that speedster keep doing his thing."
Angie got up from the couch, looking suddenly determined. "Let me take care of her. I've been dying to finally debut out in the streets."
Rayan gave her a questionable scoff. "You? Are you serious?"
Angie nodded. "Well, she's not going to want to help you take down Wells and STAR Labs, might as well get her out of the way."
"Fine, but you'll eliminate her without a mistake," Rayan warned.
"Watch me," Angie smirked, more than ready to go out.

Belén wasn't sure who'd she find in STAR Labs that early noon she walked in. She didn't exactly know what she was going to tell anyone, much less how to even greet them. But she figured she had to start somewhere.
"Hello?" she peered inside the cortex room, only to find a ginger woman inside.
Bette glanced back and immediately took a defensive stance against her. Belén came out from the side with her hands raised.
"I'm a good one, promise," she said, but Bette still didn't look very convinced.
"Belén," Dr. Wells' voice startled the ombre-blonde from behind and made her spin around to meet the man.
"Dr. Wells," Belén put a hand over her chest, "Sorry, you just…"
"It's nice to see you back," he remarked as he wheeled further inside the room, giving Bette a reassuring nod everything was fine.
"Um, yeah," Belén sighed and turned in their direction. "I think you're probably the only one who can say that about me."
"Nonsense, I'm sure Cisco would be delighted to see you're back. He's in the experiment room if you're looking for him."
"Yeah, actually, I was," Belén glanced towards Bette. "Um, hi. I don't think we've met yet."
"Bette," the ginger said, but she didn't seem quite interested in making conversation. It worked just fine for Belén as she was more interested in seeing her friends.
"Belén," Wells called just as she crossed the doorway, "I know you must be having trouble adjusting to your abilities but please to take in consideration that STAR Labs is always here to help you."
Belén softly smiled at the kind words. "Thank you, Dr. Wells. I may just take your words to heart."
"We'll see what we can do," Wells reassured her and she went on just slightly happier than before. How could she know that he actually could care less whether her abilities developed or not? The only reason he extended the offer was for appearances and because of who she would end up being in the future.
Not to mention the losses she would end up suffering.

Cisco was focused hard on some sort of device in his work room when he heard a knock on the door behind.
"Can I come in?" Belén's voice startled him enough to drop what he was holding. She nervously smiled his way as he turned on his chair.
"Belén!"
Belén was relieved when Cisco rushed to meet her with a tight hug. There had to be someone who would be happy to see her right?
"Cisco, it's so good to see you," she pulled away and chuckled. "I missed you."
"Maybe next time you shouldn't leave!" Cisco playfully replied with and led her to a chair next to his.
"You're mad too," Belén sighed and sat down.
"I'm not mad, I'm just...so confused. Why'd you do it? Barry thinks it's because he didn't tell you about...you know…"
"Look, my decision may have taken that as part of the motive but it was also to learn to control myself, to learn how to fight." Belén lightly smiled and put a hand on the table. She let the tips of her nails release thin, small vines that soon rushed to cover up a book nearby. "Two months ago, I could barely do this."
"Barry was right, you were a metahuman," Cisco gawked. "Why did you keep it a secret? We could've helped you."
"Like I told Barry earlier, for me you guys were all just regular people. How could I go up to any of you say 'Oh, by the way guys, I seemed to have developed plant powers'. That's not exactly something easy to say. The only reason Nina knows is because she covered for me at the hospital."
"And she's the he only one that knows…?"
"Yes," Belén eyed him with plead, "And I beg you not to tell anyone out of this building. My dad still thinks I'm at Starling City with my friend Laurel and my mom - as of yesterday night - thinks I'm back with my dad."
"Neither knows where your are then?"
"Not even my sister. And they can't know.'
"But why?"
"Because I have to do something that isn't safe and I don't want any of them getting hurt."
"But...if you're doing this then you're gonna get hurt...and none of us want that."
Belén sighed, giving him a sad look in return. "I don't think 'everyone' can be spoken for."
Cisco immediately understood and reached for her hand, giving a warm pat. "Hey, look, Barry's going to cool down. But no matter what he's said he wouldn't want you getting hurt."
"I want to believe that," Belén whispered, her eyes drifting to the side as she uncharacteristically became quiet.
It was then that Caitlin happened to walk in, and Belén found herself in another round of questions and explanations. She didn't care, though, she was just relieved that Caitlin hadn't expressed any hostility against her (though she knew she very well deserved it). They spoke briefly about her powers, seeing
Belén wasn't very willing to release specific information about that side just yet. Their conversation steered more towards what she was doing in Starling City for the two past months, but even those were given short sentence answers.
They moved back to the main room, where Cisco came to the disappointing news that Bette had decided to leave.
"That's funny," Belén remarked by the side of Cisco's chair, the latter silently pouting for his loss, "She didn't mention anything about leaving when I bumped into her earlier."
"She wasn't doing well," Dr. Wells briefly explained. "Bette's metahuman abilities weren't exactly the best."
"How do you mean?"
"To make it short, Bette is literally a bomb," Caitlin made a face. "Anything she touches goes boom in about five seconds."
"Wow," Belén raised her eyebrows, "That can't be easy. Even with humans?" she asked for a clarification.
"Aha…"
"Ouch," Belén comfortingly placed a hand over Cisco's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Cisco. I'm sure-"
"Don't use the 'there's other fish in the sea' line on me," he playfully warned her, making her chuckle.
Her laughter was cut short when Barry walked into the room. She locked eyes with him and so she straightened up, meekly bidding goodbye. "I should get going…"
"Stay," Caitlin was the one to say, briefly glancing at Barry in a warning manner. She was not going to stand for a childish act from neither side.
"Where's Bette?" Barry decided to focus on anything else that wasn't Belén.
"She left," Cisco answered glumly.
"What do you mean? Where did she go?"
"She didn't say," Dr. Wells gave him the same answer he'd given to the others earlier.
"Well, where the hell could she be? We have to find her, she can't be on her own." Barry walked over to the desk, intending on starting a search for her. Cisco jumped on the opportunity to see the woman again and quickly went to do it himself.
"I got back on the military feed. Looks like they've gone to the waterfront to rendezvous with Bette."
"She's turning herself in," Caitlin realized and quickly looked at the others, all silently agreeing that was most certainly not going to happen.
"She's with the military?" Belén gaped, her eyes widening. "Barry, you can't go in alone. That's too dangerous."
Barry ignored her in favor of retrieving his suit. It had been left out in plain sight now that Belén knew the secret. Iris never came to the building as they had noticed long ago.
"Barry!" she cut him once he returned in the suit. "For God's sake, you're angry with me fine, but that doesn't mean I don't want to help you."
They had a mini-staredown that neither seemed keen on backing down from. Barry was silently wondering where Belén acquired this new sense of boldness she most certainly didn't own two months ago. He left the thought when he remembered Bette was going to get herself into trouble. Without saying a word, he sped out of the room.
Belén bitterly laughed as she spun towards the doors. "He's not getting rid of me that easily."
"What are you planning…?" Cisco recognized that idea expression that was currently taking over her face.
"I learned a new trick while I was gone," Belén gave him a sideways smirk. "Can you give me the location please?"
~ 0 ~
Under certain influence, Bette had planned a fake surrender with General Eiling by the waterfront of the city. But of course, the older man didn't believe it. That was why he was trying to be smart by pitching her an idea he thought she couldn't pass up.
"All over the world, people are plotting to destroy our country. To end our lives. Brave American soldiers are gonna die in that fight, but they don't have to. Because of you, we could have victory."
"All I've ever wanted was to make the world a safer place. And it will be when you're not in it." Bette chucked towards him and the rest of the soldiers small, purple glowing spheres that soon exploded and cause mayhem.
While most soldiers were unconscious, Eiling remained half awake. Bette walked towards him with one hand extended. She would blow him into smithereens. Barry arrived and blocked her way.
"What are you doing here?" Bette gasped at the sight of him.
"Being a soldier doesn't mean you're a murderer. Don't become one now."
In the midst of their distraction, Eiling had raised a gun from his spot on the ground and fired. Bette did a spin and fell to the ground with a bullet lodged in the middle of her chest.
Barry panicked and pulled off his mask as he got down beside her. "I'm sorry. I didn't see him."
"Don't be. It's not your fault. I'm glad you stopped me," Bette flashed a light smile.
"I'm gonna get you back to S.T.A.R. Labs."
Bette shook her head, feeling her strength fading fast. "Barry, Dr. Wells. He... he…" but her eyes closed before she could finish the sentence.
"Barry, watch out!"
Barry glanced over his shoulder in time to see her shoot a couple of thick vines that pinned Eiling to his spot.
"What are you doing here?" Barry hissed, though he still eyed the leather outfit on her. He remembered it vaguely from an old news report Iris once showed him in the past. "You were at Starling City," he whispered his realization. However, the brightening purple glow beside Barry grabbed both their attention.
"She's going to blow up," Belén rushed forwards.
"Guys, we have a problem," Barry spoke with the earpiece.
"Is Bette okay?" came Cisco's anxious voice seconds later.
"No. Eiling killed her. She's glowing. She's gonna detonate."
Caitlin gasped. "Oh, my God, a mass that size, the explosion, it would be... Devastating. Barry, you have to get her away from the city.
"But there's no time…"
Belén glanced towards the waterfront and suddenly shifted to Barry. "Random question...but can you run on water? You know, like they do in the movies?"
At first, Barry was intending on scolding her for asking such a ridiculous question at a time like this...but then he understood. "How fast do I need to go to run on water?" he quickly asked of the STAR Labs employees.
Cisco began making the calculations. "Assuming your weight... 450 pounds of force per step for vertical suspension. Accounting for fluid drag…"
"Approximately 650 miles an hour…" Dr. Wells figured out just before and spoke up.
"You have to outrun the blast or you'll die too," Caitlin warned.
Barry nodded and pulled his mask over his face again. He looked at Belén for a minute, this time not needing to voice his instruction. She got up and took several steps back.
"Stay mad with me if you must, but...good luck," she told him meekly from her spot.
For a minute, Barry's anger faltered. He shook his head then and picked up Bette, finding there was no time to waste. He sped off towards the waterfront, unable to hear Belén's small laugh as she watched him leave.
Her happiness didn't last long when she was shoved to the ground by something behind her. The moment she raised her head she saw blonde streaks of hair.
"Well, this city just doesn't stop with its freaky heroes," the new woman spoke up.
"We're called metahumans," Belén growled and jumped to her feet. "And let me guess, you work with Plasticine too?"
"I don't work for her," the blonde corrected. Belén desperately tried to get some good clues on this woman's identity, but much like Belén and Barry, her face was covered with a pixelated, half-mask. Her attire was a mixture of bright colors but the gold seemed to be her thing. Still, Belén didn't think too much. She thrust her hand forwards and shot a round of thorns in the woman's way. She was careful to have them miss any of the unconscious soldiers nearby.
While some of them did graze the blonde woman, it didn't cause much pain. "Ha! You're not fighting Plasticine now, sweetheart. I'm Pixel!" She literally disintegrated and reappeared behind Belén to give her a good roundhouse kick.
Belén went down to the ground, groaning. They were momentarily struck with a semi-earthquake which turned out to be the reverberation of Bette's explosion from the water. Pixel saw the Streak making way back to them, while simultaneously trying to evade the large wave behind him.
"Better get on with it!" she smirked but Belén shot back with a vine, slamming her down to the ground.
Belén didn't give her a chance to fight back and punched the woman out cold with another vine, least that's what she thought. Pixel, holding back her groans, reached for something in her back.
"Don't get near her!" Barry's sharp, irritated shout made Belén flinch and freeze on her spot. "She's dangerous."
"This isn't Plasticine!" Belén turned to him. "This is someone new! Don't you see? They're gaining numbers! And I have to know what it's got to do with my brother! I'll-"
A second gunshot rang in the air.
Belén gasped before falling over.
Barry acted fast and sped towards her, catching her mere inches from the ground. Her mask has dissolved into nothing, giving a clear view of her face.
"Oh my God…" Pixel muttered from her spot on the ground, her hand still holding the gun.
Normally, Barry would've fought off the man until he had answers but Belén's current condition required immediate attention. Without saying a word, he sped out of the place.

The first thing Belén was aware of when she became mildly conscious was the sharp pain on her lower back. She registered the fact she was on a bed of some sort. So, when she opened her eyes and saw she was in the STAR Labs room, it came as no surprise.
"O-ow…" she groaned and turned her head to the side, hoping that whatever hurt just stopped.
"You can't heal fast, can you?"
"Hmm?"
Barry was leaning against the threshold, his arms crossed. Belén could only look at him for so long before remembering all of that day.
"My genes didn't change like yours did," she replied quietly, her eyes drifting to a metal, wheeled table against a wall on her left. "Though my body does seem act more like a mushy ground for light injuries, more severe ones will affect me like normal."
"Do you remember what happened?"
"Um...there was Pixel, and then...I punched her...then you came, and...there was a funny noise in the air…"
"You were shot," Barry reminded, slowly leaning off the hinge.
"Hmm," Belén mused with a crooked smile. "I suppose this was all planned by Plasticine. It only makes sense."
"Why would they want you dead?" Barry asked the pressing question.
"It's kind of obvious, Barry. They're bad guys, it's what they do."
"Don't insult my intelligence," Barry shook his head. "Funny thing, I was going over Iris' blog and it just so happens she posted something new about a certain metahuman...that arrived from Starling City."
"Can we not do-"
"You left Central City with Felicity, didn't you?"
And there was the ringing question Belén had dreaded of the moment she returned.
"Yes, yes I did," she whispered.
"All this time I have felt completely awful about our argument that day. I understand it was difficult for you to forgive me for keeping all this-" he gestured to the lab "-a secret from you. I get it. But you did not have the right to turn the tables on me." By this time, he had begun to pace and Belén's eyes struggled to follow him throughout the room. "Because I don't care what you say, you were trying to get payback. But to put yourself in danger by actually going with the Arrow - and don't deny that's where you went because the news reports say otherwise - was completely ridiculous! I know the Arrow, I know what he does, and what he does is not what you should be learning!"
"You're right," Belén finally inputted a word, "about almost everything."
"Well…" Barry made a face at her, intending on staying mad but the way her glossy green eyes were looking at him made it more difficult. He exhaled dramatically and walked over to a chair, bringing it beside her.
"I did leave to get payback, and for that I'm sorry," Belén sighed. "But that wasn't my main reason. I realized that I didn't have control over myself, emotionally and physically."
"You're a metahuman, we could've helped you."
"No, you couldn't have. You would go incredibly easy on me and who would win there? Caitlin would go all 'mom' on me whenever I got a scratch. Cisco...well, Cisco would be the worst of them all. I love him but he's an overprotective friend. The only one that would perhaps help me for real would be Dr. Wells. Going with Felicity seemed like the only logical thing to do. It wasn't easy to convince Oliver - er, the Arrow - to help me, but Felicity stepped in and then my friend Laurel. When he agreed he saw me as nothing more than a student. There was no easy win, no light training. That is what I needed."
"And in the meantime not even a call ever crossed your mind? We were worried sick over you, Belén. Having your father tell us you were fine wasn't what we were looking for."
"I'm sorry…"
"You should be," Barry said firmly, but this time Belén noticed there was a lighter tone in his voice.
"I''m sorry I made you feel bad for two months. You have every right to be mad with me," Belén sighed in resignation.
"I was mad...and then someone shot you. I lost someone I barely started considering a friend, I don't really want to lose someone I've known longer."
"I wouldn't like to lose a friend like you either…"
There was a minute of silence afterwards.
"How about we move forwards, then?" Barry asked, giving her a light smile. "Maybe we can get back to where we were before all this happened."
Belén chuckled, and for a moment Barry couldn't tell if it was a genuine laugh or if it was an after effect of the anesthesia Nina put on her earlier. "Barry, I think that's quite impossible. You now run faster than the speed of light, and I'm part plant. I don't think we can ever get back to where we were."
"Sorry, Belén…"
"You know…you can start calling me Bells again if you'd like. My friends usually do that…"
Barry laughed and nodded his head. "Bells. That does feel nice to say again."
Belén smiled for a moment before feeling another jab of pain on her back. "Oh, that hurts."
"Oh, don't try to move much!" Barry quickly instructed. "The others should be back and Cait will help you with your things."
"Guess it's a good thing no one knows I'm back," Belén forced herself to sit up a little.
"Cisco told me about your little idea and your suicide mission. I don't agree with your strategies."
"Well, it's a good thing I didn't ask."
"Belén, you're doing this for Rayan, aren't you?"
The way Belén remained silent told Barry all he wanted to know.
"I thought you gave up on that…"
"Because I couldn't defend myself nor my family," Belén shook her head. "But now that I can, I am going to keep looking for my brother. Plasticine sending Pixel after me is proof enough that there's something going on concerning my brother. I have to find him, whether he's alive or...dead," she gulped at the idea, "But I have to find him so that I can finally put this all to rest."
"You want to find him?"
"Yes, I do."
"And you're not gonna stop at anything?"
"Nope."
"Fine, then STAR Labs is also going to help you."
"What?"
Barry stood up from his chair, looking like there was nothing else to discuss. "Now that you know who I am, and that you do have powers, we can work together - side by side - and find your brother."
"B-Barry, I can't...I can't ask you to do that," Belén said, the idea making he stomach churn.
"It's a good thing I wasn't asking, then," Barry flashed her a smirk.
"But...but you...you can't...n-not…" Belén was left sputtering as Barry turned to leave. "I don't want you helping me!"
"It's too late for that!"
Belén tried getting out of the bed but her back still hurt far too much for any movements like that. She was forced back to her bed. "Barry Allen, you get back here right now!"
Barry listened to her her shouting as he made his way out of the room, wearing a very widened smirk across his lips.
Just one small payback wouldn't hurt anyone.

There, I fixed it for you.
My Manifesto by @ajw720
Nonnie Anon, fact, I need for D to be is closeted.  People Darren can deny it for the remainder of their his lives life, but it doesn’t his label does make him straight.  And that fact alone-that I do not understand how sexual identification and labels work- is sad and is a total injustice.  But I am going to answer this from the perspective that the closeting is a fact and how was it handled vs. how it could have been handled- aka how my fantasy could have played out.
When I see pics of D from the G/lee days, particularly pre her move, he is precisely what you say, a ball of sunshine. His smile is bright and infectious. He was a bright light, talking for hours about the things he loves. Sigh...I am in love He was young and not jaded by fame nor did he have a private life and love to protect. He was  “straight” was a part of the narrative, but it was a footnote, barely pushed.  Yes, she was in the background, but not in the spotlight. I believed Darren was straight back then so I didn’t pay any attention to questions about his sexuality or his lover. Present to make him straight-because he identifies as straight- but not overbearing. His girlfriend lived across the country and their relationship was new so he didn’t talk about her in interviews. His sexuality was commented on, but not incessantly. in almost every interview he gave in those early years. This is how you handle closeting, you don’t make it a focus and allow the subtly to speak for itself according to me because I’m a closeting expert.  Especially when the individual closeted clearly doesn’t want to hide his/her sexuality, which has been clear from the beginning as he has clearly and consistently said he is straight as early as a 2009 interview. D has done absolutely nothing to suggest he is not straight rebelled against it repeatedly and has attempted on numerous occasions to come out  at least in my head
That is the version of D that people I fell in love with and that is what i believe is the real my fantasy d. And this fantasy version of D, since Season 4 starting when they moved her to LA, has been almost completely erased, meaning I have to work REALLY SUPER hard to make him seem real.  It happened slowly, the shift and changes were small at first-as one does in a new relationship-, but suddenly she became a part of the conversation, acknowledged as his gf, and by his side constantly-as one does in a relationship as it progresses from first meeting to dating to love They  She not only moved her to LA but put her got a job on the set of G/lee to act as a babysitter because it was in her field and commiserate with her experience.  And concurrent with her move was the introduction of W and the complete public break down of the CC friendship and this is when TPTB  fandom decided it was a good idea to start rumors that C&D hated each other. And then the “I am straight and have a gf” tour happened where he was forced got a little cheesy and decided to bring women on stage every night and sign sing PPG and that awful Pheromones so he could be every girl’s teenage dream and I’m pissed that I wasn’t one of those girls...or a teenager.
And yes, this is when the questionable behavior began and D took on the straight frat boy douche persona around her because apparently I had not been paying any attention to Darren prior to this time. He wrote Me & My Dick years before this but I didn’t notice.  This is when we stopped getting the real D DAPPERMAN on SM and started getting his team and PBB posting in his name and every time he doesn’t sound like DAPPERMAN, I blame it on his team. This is one way I keep the fantasy Darren alive.  This is when the fandom began its great divide- those that believe that what they see is what they get, who accept Darren for who he is, and who enjoy the glimpses into his life that he shares versus those of us who have created an entirely false narrative that fits our fantasy. Being a ccer is exhausting because nothing Darren does fits our narrative and we constantly have to come up with excuses for why that is. Excuses like TPTB, contracts, his team pretending to be him on his social media, and how he is “forced” to sing songs on tour or say things in interviews or yell at 14 yo kids. Just read this manifesto and you will see all of the things we have to do to see our Darren.  and D was forced to   asked about his sexuality, just like he has been since he started doing interviews for Glee publicly address his . It seems to me that he was asked about his sexuality repeatedly which increased significantly during H/edwig and that sorta makes sense since he has now played two LGBTQ characters in a row and the questions were often asked by journalists whose job it is to actually get answers. Maybe I was just paying more attention to his sexuality because Hedwig was right when I discovered Crisscolfer.
But even during H/edwig - despite the sudden straight push -now 6 years into Darren saying he identified as straight- he was still bright and present (aka gay?).  He did as required, but on stage, at the stage door, in interviews, he was still D.  And then they sent him he went to Italy for 6 weeks to do a movie and during that time the shift happened. When he came back, the PR games were heightened aka Mia quit her job to travel with Darren and open their dream bar and it has only gotten exponentially worse every day that has passed since-at least for me.  She became not just his gf, but the absolute focal point of his public and private life ya know as couples in love tend to do.  This is when it became impossible to be a d fan without seeing her. This is when I became obsessed with hating and bullying Mia. This is when I started stalking her obsessively so that I am sure to see her. The stalking is all good, it’s part of my job to know what she is doing at all times so I can let the fandom know.
And the problem with M is she is divisive to me and the ccers who are entitled to have a say in Darren’s personal life. She is on record treating fans deplorably even though there is NO record of her treating fans deplorably, I will continue to claim she does without giving any credible evidence this is true.. She made D yell at a 14 year old girl.  Darren is a big boy and 14 yo’s who behavior abhorrent shouldn’t get a pass so he told her off. She thrives on controversy and making D suffer. She sits in the background and lets Darren shine, rarely ever having anything to say when he is working and yet I obsess about what she is thinking and I pretend she really says all of the things I imagine in my jealousy-fueled head.  She has publicly treated him like an ass and has held herself out to be better than him and acts like he should be grateful she is in his life. She has only ever been gracious to fans but I am stark raving jealous and unhinged from reality so I make up all sorts of backstories to photos where Mia is simply standing next to Darren. Oh and I have never met her.  She acts like an elitist instead of being grateful for the very privileged life she lives because he family is filthy rich and her association with D. I’m so fucking jealous. Her friends are bratty and immature and they act like college students on their social media  that have has nothing to do with Darren’s  in life but party around the clock so  I am not sure why her friends matter to me except I’m on a role and I can’t stop. My friends are assholes (hey @flowersintheattic254, hey @cassie1022, hey Leka-1998) who bully a women they don’t even know and I’m still their friend... so maybe Mia’s friends shouldn’t matter to Darren’s fans.  She’s recorded herself rolling a joint in a parked car after a night of recording herself posting a handful of other pics were posted that night showing them having a good time. There was what looked like an alcoholic drink on a photo or two drinking and doesn’t even get reprimanded mooooommmm, MOM! Mia is rolling a joint...don’t touch me,...MOM! Don’t touch me, I’m going to tell mom..MOOOOOOOM! She wore a Tits of Clay band merch boobs shirt to the inaugural EF, an event marketed for families, to embarrass D and pull focus and I know this because she told me remember I make up all sorts of stories when I see a photo.  She claims she wants privacy but their entire public lives are blasted all over SM  I desperately stalk her, following everyone who might ever post a photo of her despite the fact that D has repeatedly stated he craves privacy he doesn’t social media and he is a private person who finds giving up his privacy really difficult and he is an emotional SENTIMENT hoarder I never get that right and has asked her not to post pics one time he told the story that when he was new to Glee, Mia posted a photo of the two of them on her Facebook that he wanted to keep for himself because he loved the photo so much.  She has not respect for him. She has a private Instagram and only posts pics of Darren on her public Snapchat when they go to big public events together.
And D acts out around her more often than not.  Darren adores her. Add they now have him picking fights with fans on SM over her (we know it is not him but the GA doesn’t).  He pushes back when fans bully his wife. I pretend it isn’t him pushing back but it’s stupid for me to claim it isn’t him when it so clearly is him. If I accept it is him, then I have to think about my own behavior and the cc behavior that drives him to push back. Speaking of his SM, it is an absolutely mess punny and hilarious. This man is insanely intelligent, we all know two or three times he mentioned he has deleted and reposted things due to grammatical errors . and they represent him deplorably, fail to project his voice, and make him look like an asshole I hate punny silly Darren so I rage every time he posts in that voice. The only time I like him is if he is DAPPERMAN- boring, upstanding & polite and formal.
Then we have the bar. Do not even get me started on the bar because I’m stark raving mad.  I do not understand how anyone can justify it and yet it is popular and people have a great time there.  He is the straight male owner of a bar that glorifies naked women, calls them sluts, names drinks after large breasts, has grotesque names like Period Sex (I WOULD NEVER) and Golden Showers (What is that?), cheap innuendo and theme nights that are beyond derogatory and yet, the more I think about it, that seems exactly like what a straight, male, bar owner would do. If I thought this was him DAPPERMAN and what he loves (as she ignores all of the times Darren has gushed about connecting to people through songs at the bar), I would turn away from him so fast my head would spin because I hate everything about Darren -the man he really is - but I know he is DAPPERMAN and he will come back to me.   Because that bar, that is misogynistic not my style... it makes me very uncomfortable, it’s too sex positive and at times it’s openly queer.  It’s filled with debauchery and I don’t understand it.  Not hating one woman because I am so jealous of her sexual freedom, her lifestyle, her money, her husband... I think she is pure evil even if everybody who knows her, loves her.
And of course, then we have the way he is presented in the press.  D has built a career playing LGBT+ roles.  His three major roles were gay, queer, gay.  And in every print article, we are reminded he is straight, often multiple times because when he first started playing Blaine, there weren’t a lot of straight men playing strong gay characters on TV.  Now we see that representation matters-asking an actor how he identifies during promo for his 3rd straight  LGBTQ role is hardly out of line.  And then they started making him repeatedly state it.  It is awkward and uncomfortable, He has consistently labeled himself as straight since 2009 and there is no evidence to suggest he is not straight but I can’t stop fantasizing. It makes me angry when I am faced with him reminding me he is straight.  It makes him look ungrateful to the community that he used to get ahead and frankly, makes him sound completely insecure.  I don’t like him if he isn’t gay. I don’t care that he never took advantage of the gay community by pretending to be gay or that he has always been a strong ally, all I can see or hear is “I'm straight”.  I want him to be gay and that is all that matters.  Like he can only play queer if he can repeatedly assert he is straight. Absolute mess. I don’t care that by repeatedly asserting he is straight, he is telling the truth, THIS IS ABOUT WHAT I WANT.  MOOOOOOMMMMMM. I dare anyone to find any other straight actor that addresses their sexuality as often.  You won’t find one. (James Franco)
I’m so jealous I can’t see straight and all I see is an unrealistic  And because of this narrative they have weaved, purely to elevate her, and they have torn him down, they have made him look like a straight jerk in love with a spoiled brat woman. I  hate her I hate her I hate her. Mooooommmm!  Sorry, i know i will get  deserve hate, but it is the my truth unrelated to Darren’s reality. And I’m not just a spoiled brat, I’m a hateful one.  There is nothing redeeming about her ME.
Instead they should have gotten him a respectful beard- ME, who was present but not a focus ME and not beaten into our heads that he is straight (isn’t that how beards work?).  They could have sold straight and done it respectfully and in a manner that i could have accepted by me.  No, I am not accepting closeting and i don’t think it is ok, but again, clearly the closeting was demanded by RIB-Ryan an important out, gay activist and F/ox in a contract they signed 9 years ago...when will it end? and if it had to be the narrative it could have been done in a manner that would have allowed D to remain true to himself and that means gay. They could have got a beard that let him be gay.
And at this point, they just are making things worse and no one is winning anything.(isn’t everyone but Darren winning in this scenario?) They should free D -let him be GAY -and put him ME out of his MY misery because no amount of promo is going to make her famous outside of her stans as long as she has a private instagram account and Darren doesn't tag her or even post her photo. She just isn’t interesting- I am interesting.  This sham fanfiction I wrote has gone on way too long and completely spun out of control -I can’t make heads or tails out of it anymore- and it is NOT doing no one ME any favors except continuing to hide the my truth, the one thing his team I needs and wants, because MY the truth isn’t pretty.
