would hiki be a friends with the crows person or a friends with the crabs person
more inclined to say the crows b/c aside from a sense of bird favoritism, i feel like its easier for him to actually encounter crows?? like crabs live near the sea man (and/or some large bodies of freshwater ig but lets ignore that for these purposes)... when/where is lil ghost boy gonna pull up to the ocean 😭😭😭
given crows' intelligence now you're just giving me the mental image of him trying (and failing) to convert crows to religion and ahkhskjhakjhskjghkjh 😂😂😭😭😭
#ask#i would draw this but I CANT RN 🤬🤬😭😭😭 curse having to work on hw (yes im procrastinating but sh.)#(i dont have my drawing tablet is the point. i could do it on my phone sure but i dont like drawing on there :'))#isnt there something in the bible about eating seafood? i might be thinking of other dietary restrictions (sorry idk much abt religions)#not that im saying hiki would like. scoop up the crabs and eat them raw but hakjhskjg 😭😭😭 i looked up 'do crabs go to heaven' for this#IF THEYRE HIS FRIENDS HE WOULDNT EAT THEM I DONT THINK?? anyways ignoring that#a lot of this i feel depends on like. personal interpretations and ideas whatever. like if your hiki is actually alive (which he is iirc)#or not. i remember hearing something about ghosts and not being able to cross water but that could b wrong. and again i usually have him as#a ghost or smthn. you could also argue even w/ the crows then too some people say animals are affected by paranormal activity so?#the crows could also potentially sense something and not like it. but idk. i cant think of any particular religious connotation w/ crows#other birds yes but i dont know abt crows. i personally tho fucking love corvids so i think he should b friends w/ them yes#(sorry is my bird favoritism thinly veiled? 😭 IM SORRY i swear i like sea creatures too but like. birds is easier to access)#i do have some potential ocean-related hiki ideas but thats also leaning more towards some personal hcs so? yuh.#ok tldr; i think crows fits him aesthetically better but i feel he could be friends w/ both. just depends on a lot of other things#vocaloid#utau

simon with a girlfriend who cleans when she's mad!
simon never really doubted anything.
he didn't doubted when he jumped in front of a bullet, or get picked in most dangerous missions, nor doubt when he says something. he's a clear man. if he thinks about it, he'll say it or do it.
but simon is now staring at the floor, which he can see his own reflection by now, from how clean it is, and just... thinks.
did he done something wrong? or did you just got bored and started cleaning? you were a lazy bird, using your boredom in either journaling or spending time on your phone, or just reading a book. but cleaning? that's something you did when you were furious.
of course you cleaned the house occasionally, he helped too, but this is way too clean for his liking.
you stepped into the livingroom with his shirt, and some slippers; hair tied in a messy bun and hands covered with dish gloves. simon's whole body tensed, which was completely out of fear. see, he could curse to a general—been there done that—be mean to anyone, or literally spit in the enemies face while being pointed guns.
but you? damn, woman. you almost made the bloke pee in his pants.
"si?"
"my gorgeous doll." he said almost immediatly, and you could see a shiver if you squinted enough. you were glad that he wasn't stepping your perfectly cleaned floor with his combat boods; completely bare footed, shoes where they suppose to be.
"why are you standing there?" you asked with a tilt of your head, confused to see your giant boyfriend almost turn into a shrimp from fear. "come on! im done, just gonna put these back." you showed the cleaning products in your hand and walked to kitchen, to place them where they belong.
simon let out a breath of relief, yet still confused. you weren't mad. not like he gave you a reason to, he returned from his deployment yesterday and went to gym today, leaving you happy at home. so why was this house this clean?
"doll." simon slowly stepped in your personal space, almost like hunting you. you let out a confused smile, holding him. "si." you hummed, noticing how he visibly relaxed.
"why 's the house clean, luv?" he murmured, caressing your waist.
you chuckled. "you prefer it dirty?"
"no, but you usually don't clean this deep unless your mad."
"...huh?"
you never realised it before. but yeah, you did clean when you were mad. you couldn't sit on your ass angry, your hands itching to do something. and since you didn't wanted to do illegal stuff, you just cleaned the house!
"oh," you said softly. "that's why you were tense? im not mad si! cleaned this deep because spring is here, and i wanted to embrace it with a clean home."
simon let out a quiet 'oh', gently lifting you in his arms. "you scared me there for a sec', doll. thought i did som'thin i didn't realise." he said, carrying you to shower.
you chuckled, hugging his neck. "should i be mad?"
"nuh-uh doll, 'm innocent, i swear." he smiled a bit, sitting you on the sink. "and as a thank you for cleanin' the house, my precious and pretty doll, i'll give you the best shower of your life."
you raised a brow, knowing he won't keep his hands to himself in there. "promise to order wings after?"
"copy that."

lovesick — ryomen sukuna.
"I'm serious about my girl." Sukuna retorted back, snickering at the white haired vice-captain. "I'm serious, if she calls me anything else, I'll be nothing. Just how it is." "I see, I see." Before Sukuna could fire back something at him, Gojo’s attention shifted to something—or someone—over Sukuna’s shoulder. Gojo started pointing at the doorway. “Oh, and here she is now, captain.” he said, smirking like a man who’d just lit a match in a fireworks factory. "Your beloved girlfriend!"

IF THERE WAS ONE THING ABOUT HIM, ITS THE FACT THAT HE IS A STRONG PERSONALITY. He knew that too well, everyone knew that just as much. Ryomen Sukuna was just easily the most incredible force to be reckoned with. Whether that be meeting him personally or whether that be hearing baout him in passing.
Everyone would say the same thing about him — it's hard to find out what to say about him without going on a tangent for hours on end. And that was just the easiest thing to do, rather than finding anything definite to say.
The one and only captain of the top ranking college varsity volleyball team in all of Japan, Ryomen Sukuna dominated the court like it was his personal kingdom with that iron fist. He has such a stellar record of existence, that was to be sure, wearing the crown.
All his opponents could only quiver at the sight of his one of a kind powerful line spike. All the teammates he'd have since junior high could only respect and fear him with almost military reverence, like he was their general.
Of course, all his coaches over the years swore he could crush concrete if he so much as clenched his fists mid-serve. That perhaps, it would be good to gentle parent him as much as possible, knowing he's already quite the fire cracker of a man.
Or that he could end up cussing out everyone at the court as easily as one does breathing. That's of course, why the coaches would find him to be the "Cursed King." It was an intimidating title that had followed him since junior high school.
One moment he's someone that you curse because you lost a game because of him, another time you curse him because your team got fined because he ended up causing a fight. And with a name like that, Sukuna relished the air of invincibility it gave him.
Everyone had a box for Sukuna to fit in, of course. That continued over time, to be something that people couldn't avoid making for him and only him. That was just how it was, when you have someone as enigmatic as him.
To some of his teammates, he was "Cap"—the iron-willed leader who demanded nothing less than perfection. The one that would force them to run miles on end until they fell from exhaustion. The one who forced them to do hundreds of spikes until it took out the bottles he prepared on the other side of the court.
The rival schools referred to him as "Demon Spike" but this was mostly because he left a trail of destruction (and bruises) every time he stepped onto the court. One moment that's from the fact that his serves were just dangerously low and one moment it's because he heard someone bad mouth his underclassman.
To the younger underclassmen, who unfortunately still looked at him with bright eyes under those filtered glasses on — he was a mix of "Sensei of True Discipline" and "Volleyball God".
He was to them, a figure of unadulterated awe and of course, that desire to hope, that perhaps they would end up like him too. After all, he was always a star in the court. But in a different way, in the good way. That's how they think.
Of course, even his many teachers and now his college professors had their own opinions for him one at a time over the many years. One of the most known nicknames for him by the professors in the college halls is “The GPA Crusher”.
But this was because Ryomen Sukuna spent more time perfecting his jump serves against his opponent than ever having effort in writing essays for submission. Ironically, even though he was quite a smart young man. The fact that he shows up to exams more than classes and still passes with flying colors is quite certain proof.
But to you, his beloved girlfriend, Ryomen Sukuna was none of these things. He didn’t live in a box and he never wished to do so, no. Instead, he lived eternally, forever, even in the next life — in your heart.
Though hed never say something that cheesy out loud. That part is not easy for him, but you didn't mind that. You liked to keep him to yourself most of the time. And he was satisfied with that.
The most you could hear from him about you is in passing. Sometimes practice would finish and he, still full of sweat, would immediately pack his things into his gym bag, almost suddenly becoming ignorant of everything else.
His underclassman would invite him to eat something like yakuniku and he would say with a straight face — "I can't. My girfriend wants to cook some authentic pasta for me at her place. Bye."
He would leave almost instantly, much to the shock of the underclassman each year. But most of his teammates, who were also somehow his friends, were not surprised. He and you were dating early on during junior high school. And he would be the same way.
When he wasn't looking, people could only surmise what he looked like when he towered over your giddy figure at every practice, at every game — 'Ah, I see. He's lovesick. And in a good way.'
To Sukuna, you were perhaps the only thing that could triumph against volleyball. You were his number one. And he knew that you thought of him the same way too. And everyone knew that too.
That's why you only ever called him one thing: my love. And to Sukuna, that title was worth more than any championship trophy. But of course, no one knew that. It's not like you don't call him that in public. It's just that no one asks, what that nickname is.
The look in your eyes was more than enough when he makes a wink for you at each serve was enough, the smile on your lips when he comes to greet you at the bleachers was more than enough. No one needed to hear the nickname to know that there was something loving between the two of you.
He knew this truth as well as he knew how to spike a ball with a precise edge. He knew this as much as he knew what would get him a championship. But of course, that doesn't stop curiosity at times. At times he humors them, at times he does not. It was a hit and miss.
That’s why, during a post-practice break, when the Vice Captain of the Volleyball team, Gojo Satoru, decided to start stirring the pot as usual with his antics. And somehow, today, Ryomen Sukuna didn’t mind it. There was something in the air. They could feel it.
(He won't tell anyone about this, but he has very happy about something.
He was after all happy that his girlfriend was staying at his dorm tonight to spoon on his bed after your finals kept you apart for nearly two weeks —
But no one needs to know that.
Otherwise, they'd use it against him.
And he can't have that right now.
It will spoil these bastards and make them too relaxed before championships again.)
Gojo leaned against the bleachers with that signature cocky grin. “Hey, Sukuna.” he drawled, as he watched the captain drink from his water bottle. "You’ve got about a million nicknames floating around. But what are you to your girlfriend?”
Ryomen Sukuna didn’t miss a beat.
He put down his water bottle swiftly.
He glared at Gojo Satoru with a passion.
He tilted his head back, eyes half-lidded with that calm arrogance he wore so well. “Huh? My girl can only call me my love or nothing.” he said, his voice practically dripping with pride.
"Hehhhhh, really?"
“If she calls me anything else, I’ll disappear and leave no trace. Hell, I'll jump off a cliff and make sure I drown into the ocean and never be seen again."
Gojo barked out a laugh, his hands clapping together as if Sukuna had just told the world’s funniest joke. “Wow. Our captain sure is seriously whipped. Actually, that probably doesn’t even begin to cover it.”
"I'm serious about my girl." Sukuna retorted back, snickering at the white haired vice-captain. "I'm serious, if she calls me anything else, I'll be nothing. Just how it is."
"I see, I see."
Before Sukuna could fire back something at him, Gojo’s attention shifted to something—or someone—over Sukuna’s shoulder. Gojo started pointing at the doorway.
“Oh, and here she is now, captain.” he said, smirking like a man who’d just lit a match in a fireworks factory. "Your beloved girlfriend!"
Ryomen Sukuna turned slowly, his earlier bravado evaporating the second he saw you standing at the gym door. Your arms were crossed, your eyes sharp, and your posture practically screamed, You’re in trouble.
“Sukuna.” you called out, your tone cutting through the gym like a whistle signaling the end of a game.
His entire body could only stiffen. He didn’t just flinch—he practically short-circuited. The other players and members, the entire volleyball staff, sensing the shift in the air, immediately stopped what they were doing to watch the drama unfold. All of their eyes were glued on this moment, more than anything.
“Ryomen Sukuna!” you said again, each syllable landing like the sound of a referee’s whistle before a penalty.
Sukuna’s brain scrambled for an escape route. “What the fuck?” he muttered under his breath, frozen in place.
“Ryomen Sukuna, come here.”
“No.” His voice cracked as he stood up so fast he nearly knocked over a water bottle.
His scarlet eyes were shaking as much as his body was. No one has ever seen this before. No one had ever seen the panic on his face before. Not even in a hard game to win. This was the very first time their formidable captain looked so defeated and horrified.
“No, no, my name is my love! It’s my love! What did I do?” he asked, practically sprinting toward you like a volleyball rolling out of bounds.
Gojo Satoru, thoroughly entertained, cackled so hard he nearly fell off the bleachers. “Man, even the Cursed King has a leash!” he wheezed, clutching his stomach. "This is how he is with her. That's interesting, isn't it?"
"He doesn't look like who he actually is in the moment, huh." Nanami Kento whispered under his breath, wiping the sweat with the towel over his shoulder. "We should have used this card when he refused to stop practice during last year's finals."
"Well now we can." Geto Suguru snickers, lounging on the floor as he watched the scene with mirth in his purple gaze. "Does anyone have objections?"
"None here!" The chorus of seniors and juniors retorted back at him.
"Someone save her phone number for speed dial!" Gojo said, pointing to one of the managers who nodded.
By the time Ryomen Sukuna reached you, he was a completely different man. The fearsome captain who dominated courts and crushed spirits was reduced to a panicked, apologetic mess. You continued to stand before him, rolling your eyes, his towering figure in tatters at what you called him.
“I swear I didn’t do anything! There's no girls or even guys! There isn't anything else. You can check my phone. Or you can ask everyone here too!"
"Sukuna—"
"Whatever it was, I’ll do everything fix it and make it right, babe—just don’t call me that again. Please!” he begged, his voice low enough that only you could hear the desperation in it.
"Calm down." You raised an eyebrow, letting him stew for a moment before finally speaking. “You forgot to text me that practice was running late. And I was concerned. I thought we were going to meet up at the cafe nearby so we can go to your dorm together!”
Sukuna blinked. “That’s it?”
“That’s it.” you said, though your tone suggested you might have a few more grievances stored up for later. "Well, I'm also hungry."
Sukuna exhaled so dramatically it was a wonder he didn’t collapse on the spot. “I’ll never forget again, okay?” he promised, his voice full of sincerity. “Babe, I’ll set an alarm—no, two alarms—just for you. And don't worry, we're gonna eat. Actually, take my card and buy something in the cafe while you wait for me.”
As he continued to rattle off promises, you couldn’t help but smile at him. Cursed King or not, to you, Sukuna was just your dorky loving boyfriend, forever trying to live up to his title of my love in your life. And if the rest of the gym wanted to watch him grovel? Well, that was just an added bonus. By the gods, you love him.
"I love you, my love." You whispered to him, taking his hand into yours. "I'm sorry I scared you like that."
"No, no, that was my fault." He grumbled under his breathe, taking a moment to settle in the warmth of your eyes, reserved just for him. "I should have noticed the time. I will never forget about it again, I promise."
"Hm, that's all that matters, my love."
"I'll make us dessert tonight as an apology." He says, moving closer to kiss your temple.
"That would be good, my love."
As Sukuna continued his frantic apologies, the rest of the gym erupted into poorly stifled snickers. Gojo Satoru, of course, was the loudest, slapping his knee like he’d just witnessed the greatest comedy set of the century.
“My love, huh? Big, bad Cursed King reduced to a golden retriever!” he teased, practically howling. “Hey, did you hear that, boys? If she calls him Ryomen Sukuna one more time, he might just cry.”
“Should we start calling him my love too, senpai? Y’know, in solidarity?” chimed Underclassman Itadori Yuuji, grinning as he leaned on his volleyball. The suggestion earned a chorus of laughs and a few enthusiastic nods.
“Yeah, Cap! Don’t worry, my love, we’ve got your back!” Underclassman Fushiguro Megumi deadpanned from the sidelines, his usual stoic face cracking into a rare smirk.
One of the first year underclassman, emboldened by the chaos, cupped his hands around his mouth and called out, “We love you, my love! You’re our MVP for all seasons! With so much love, my love!”
Sukuna whipped his head around, his scarlet glare promising death, destruction, and possibly laps for everyone involved. “If anyone other than my girlfriend calls me that, I swear.” he growled, “I will personally make sure you regret it.”
“Sure, my love!” Gojo crowed, leaning back against the bleachers with a devilish grin. “Ooooh, should we get it printed on the back of your jersey? Cursed King on the front, My Love on the back—perfect balance, don’t you think?"
Geto laughs loudly. "You know what, I think we can make this happen. Coach! We got the budget for that, right?"
“Or maybe embroider it on the team banner!” someone else chimed in, sending the gym into another fit of laughter.
You couldn’t hold back anymore, doubling over as Sukuna turned a deeper shade of red than the volleyballs on the court. His sharp retorts and death glares only fueled the chaos, the once-commanding presence of the Cursed King now utterly eclipsed by the sheer hilarity of the moment.
Finally, Sukuna turned back to you, his expression a mix of betrayal and exasperation. “You’re supposed to defend me, babe.” he muttered, his voice low but desperate.
You reached up to pat his cheek, your grin as sweet as honey. “Oh, my love, I am defending you. I’m making sure they never forget how cute you are to me."
For the rest of practice, you sat down and watched everything unfold before you as you ate your croissant and drank your coffee from the cafe which you bought using your boyfriend's card, of course.
For a while, the gym echoed with the sound of volleyballs, laughter, and the occasional teasing chorus of “My love!” — especially when Sukuna found himself scoring a point, which of course led to him missing the next hit.
Every time someone said it later on, Ryomen Sukuna looked seconds away from snapping a net in half, but deep down, though he’d never admit it, he wouldn’t have traded his nickname or the teasing for anything in the world. Not when you were there, cheering it for him with that adorable voice of yours, loving him completely.
Maybe it wasn't so bad to be lovesick like that.
Not when it was you who loved him just like that.
That's just how he loved you too.
══════════════════
epilogue
After what felt like the longest practice of his life, one that was just peppered with relentless teasing from his teammates and the volleyball team staff — Ryomen Sukuna was finally free to leave with you, to enjoy the weekend together.
He barely said goodbye to the others, grumbling something about “making them run that suicidal hill again on Monday” before grabbing his bag and leading you out of the gym.
“Unbelievable.” he muttered under his breath as you walked side by side. “Gojo’s gonna be insufferable for weeks.”
You stifled a laugh. “Weeks? You mean forever.”
He shot you a look, but there was no real heat behind it. Instead, he sighed and draped an arm over your shoulder as the two of you made your way to his car. “You’re lucky I love you, y’know. Otherwise, I might’ve disappeared on the spot after what you pulled, babe.”
“Oh, come on, my love.” you teased, leaning into him. “It was worth it to see the great Cursed King turn into a puddle in front of everyone. Especially because he loves me.”
“You’re cruel, babe." he grumbled, but there was a small, fond smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Can't believe I've loved you since we were in junior high."
You winked at him, smile on your lips growing wider. "And for forever too! You'll have to deal with it."
By the time you got back to Sukuna’s place, you immediately made the move to cook while he got into the shower. Soon enough, the air was thick with the scent of miso broth bubbling on the stove.
You’d planned this hotpot night earlier, since he was supposed to have gone home much earlier. But after the chaos at the gym and his long grueling practice, you just felt like it was even more well-earned.
Sukuna, finally emerging from the bedroom, rolled up his sleeves and helped you set the table, his mood softening with each step of the ritual as you hummed along the song playing on the radio.
“You got everything, babe?” he asked, peering over your shoulder as you arranged plates of thinly sliced meat, tofu, and an assortment of vegetables.
“Yup.” you replied, popping a piece of bok choy into your mouth. “And don’t even think about hogging all the meat this time.”
“Me? Hog it?” He snorted, grabbing the chopsticks and pointing them at you in mock accusation. “You’re the one who fishes out all the good stuff when I’m not looking.”
“That’s called strategy, my love.” you said, grinning as you threw his words from earlier back at him.
Sukuna groaned, dropping his face into his hands. “Not you too…”
You waved your chopsticks at him. "Well, I say it more lovingly. You like it like that, you know!"
He grumbles under his breath, red appearing on his cheek. "You're lucky I love you like that."
"Hm, that's why I'm shameless!"
But any complaints were quickly forgotten as the two of you settled down around the simmering hotpot. The warmth of the broth, the crackling of the stove, and the quiet clink of chopsticks filled the room. Sukuna started to relax, his earlier frustrations melting away as he watched you happily dunk mushrooms and noodles into the pot.
“Okay, babe.” he said suddenly, breaking the silence. “I’ve decided.”
You raised an eyebrow, chewing on a piece of tofu. “Decided what?”
“Next time Gojo calls me ‘my love’ in front of everyone, instead of just you, it’s on sight,” Sukuna said, leaning forward with a wicked grin that promised destruction.
He jabbed his chopsticks into a slice of tofu like it was Gojo’s face. “I’m spiking a volleyball straight at his stupid face.”
You burst out laughing, nearly choking on the piece of fish cake you’d been chewing. “Good luck with that. He’ll just dodge it and make fun of you even more. You know how he is—Gojo thrives on chaos. The man’s immune to consequences.”
Sukuna rolled his eyes, stabbing another piece of tofu with unnecessary aggression. “Then I’ll spike two balls. One after the other. And if that doesn’t work…”
You looked at him curiously, mirth in your eyes. "What will you do?"
He paused, his brow furrowing in mock concentration. “I’ll add laps. So many laps. He’ll be running until graduation.”
You snorted, wiping a tear from your eye. “Right, because Gojo would totally listen to your orders. He’d just turn it into a race and leave everyone else in the dust.”
Sukuna grumbled under his breath, his scowl deepening—but the corners of his mouth twitched, betraying his amusement. “Fine. If volleyball and laps don’t work, I’ll come up with something else. Something evil.”
“Evil?” you repeated, raising an eyebrow. “What, like stealing his Bottega Veneta sunglasses?”
“Too easy. He’s got like fifty pairs, babe.” Sukuna muttered, resting his chin on his hand as he considered his options. “Maybe I’ll prank him during practice. Replace his water with vinegar. Or set his alarms an hour early every day.”
"I forgot he makes his password too easy for people to guess." You murmured, drinking from your cup. You sigh. "Well, I suppose that would work."
"Right? Fool-proof!"
You tilted your head, feigning thoughtfulness. “Hmm, as solid as that is, what if he gets revenge? Gojo’s the type to double down, you would know best."
He hummed. "I'm way better at being stubborn than he is."
"I know that. But he might start serenading you in the middle of practice. Like, full-on ‘My Love’ with a guitar and everything on campus like it's 10 Things I Hate About You."
Sukuna froze, chopsticks halfway to his mouth. “He wouldn’t.”
“Oh, he absolutely would.” you said, grinning. “And you’d never live it down. The Cursed King getting serenaded in front of the entire team? In front of the whole university? They’d be talking about it for years.”
He groaned, dropping his chopsticks and leaning back against the chair like he’d just been defeated in battle. “Why do I even put up with him? Or any of you, for that matter.”
“Because deep down, you love us.” you said, smiling sweetly as you plopped another piece of meat into the hotpot. “Even Gojo.”
“I do not love Gojo,” Sukuna snapped, pointing an accusatory finger at you. “Don’t put words in my mouth.”
“Sure, sure, my love!” you teased, nudging him playfully with your elbow. “But admit it—you’d miss him if he wasn’t around to drive you insane.”
Sukuna gave you a flat look, but the twitch of his lips betrayed him again. “I’d miss you more.” he said gruffly, his voice dropping just enough to make your heart skip.
“Aww, my love.” you cooed, leaning closer to press a quick kiss to his cheek. “Don’t worry, you’re stuck with me.”
“Good to know, babe.” he said, turning back to the hotpot with a satisfied grunt. “At least you don’t call me my love in front of the team like that.”
You smirked, swirling your chopsticks through the broth. “Not yet, anyway.”
Sukuna froze mid-bite, glaring at you with wide eyes. “Don’t you dare.”
“No promises!” you said with a mischievous grin, earning a groan from him that was half exasperation, half affection.
"You're such a menace."
"Well, that's how you know I love you, my love!" You grinned, moving forward to steal his tonkatsu.
"Babe!" He groans, as he watches you eat the tonkatsu happily.
"I love you!"
Sukuna sighs, his eyes softening, watching you happily eat. "I love you too......"

༄ `. 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐒 & 𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒
summary: natasha romanoff’s two-year-old daughter, nova, is just like her—guarded and slow to trust— but when nova's longtime pediatrician is replaced by the younger, warm-hearted dr. Y/N L/N, gaining nova's trust quicker than any other stranger did, something shifts.
genre : single mom!natasha, pediatrician!reader, non-red room past au. (age is non specified but reader is not past twenty-five)
warnings : fluff, slow burn(?), strangers to lovers, emotional intimacy & warmth, hurt/comfort, death mention (no need to freak out here, just read), fussy mini-widow.
word count : 3.2k // masterlist
an : pleeeaaaseee tell me i haven't been the only one craving for full fluff lately so im serving y'all some. also stan mama nat 100% !

Natasha stood in the middle of her living room, holding one tiny crumpled pair of pastel pink socks. Across from her was her two-year-old daughter sat on the floor in her diaper and nothing else, arms crossed, bottom lip out, expression fierce.
“Don’t want pink,” Nova declared, enunciating each word like a threat.
Natasha exhaled through her nose with all her will patience. “We’ve been through this, milyy. All the purple ones are in the laundry. The pink ones are clean, soft, and objectively non-threatening.” (sweetie)¹
“No!” Nova shouted. “Pink is ugly!” Though, the word sounded more like 'ugwy'.
“You said pink was beautiful yesterday.” Natasha squatted down beside her, her voice still calm — or, well, calm-ish. “You told Steve it was your ‘princess color.’”
Nova looked her straight in the eye. “I changed my mind.”
Natasha pinched the bridge of her nose and muttered something in Russian.
“We’re already fifteen minutes late, malen'kiy, and I will not let a pair of $3 Target socks be the reason we miss your check-up.”
The mini redhead, clearly unfazed by her mother’s internal spiral, picked up a stuffed giraffe and began chewing on one of its ears.
Natasha knew this battle. She knew it oh so well.
She’d fought aliens with less resistance than her daughter gave her over anything remotely involving clothes. But she also knew that at the end of the day, she was a puddle for this kid.
A helpless, hopeless puddle.
“Okay,” The elder sighed, standing up. “No socks. Go rogue. But you have to wear something, baby. Can we at least agree on pants?”
Nova considered this. “Dinosaurs.”
Recently, most things she liked where boy-ish due to constantly being around Nathaniel at the Barton's. He and Nova were bestfriends in the whole universe at this point and wherever Nate went or whatever he did, Nova followed.
Not even half an hour in the car :
“I swear on all that is sacred, Nova Rose Romanoff—if you throw that juice pouch one more time, I am turning this car around.”
A dramatic little sigh came from the backseat.
“No!” Nova shrieked.
“That's your third one,” Natasha muttered through clenched teeth, white-knuckling the steering wheel. “Third. And it’s not even 9 AM. What happened to the child who loved apple juice yesterday?”
“Changed my mind,” Nova declared, legs kicking against her car seat like a storm.
Natasha pinched the bridge of her nose at the red light. “You're two. You don’t have a mind to change.”
But Nova only huffed, her lips put in that usual exaggerated pout with crossed arms that amused the Russian. Nova was a sweetheart but could also be stubborn at times. And she didn't hesitate to be hard headed with her mama just to get the last word.
Oh Natasha cursed at herself from how excited and eager she was about getting a mini version of herself two years ago.
She regretted that now because it just seemed like fighting herself but a younger version.
This was her morning. A typical Wednesday. Natasha Romanoff, former top SHIELD agent and current certified toddler negotiator, on her way to what should’ve been a quick pediatric check-up—Nova had other plans.
“No juice, no socks, no talking,” Nova added firmly from the back. “Only Mama.”
Natasha glanced in the rearview mirror. “I am Mama.”
Mini Widow blinked, “Then just you. No Doctor Lady.”
Natasha frowned. “Since when do you not like Helen?”
“Don’t want.”
“Too bad. You’ve got a check-up.”
Nova crossed her arms. “Nova will bite her.”
“You will not bite your pediatrician. Biting doesn’t earn you candy, volchitsa.”
But Nova wasn't taking the interdiction. They arrived at the clinic a few minutes later — Nova attached at her mom's hip, hands gripping Natasha's shirt sleeve because her tantrums switched to her being clingy now.
The receptionist at the front desk greeted the Russians with a cheerful smile.
“Miss Romanoff, Nova, it's good to see you two again.” Natasha gave a small polite smile in return, only so because she was familiar to that receptionist. “Just a heads-up, Dr. Helen’s on leave for a few months. You’ll be seeing Dr. Y/N L/N today.”
Natasha blinked. “I’m sorry, who?”
“Dr. Y/N. Helen’s niece.”
Natasha’s mind stuttered. Helen had always been steady. Older, gentle, just clinical enough to keep Natasha comfortable. Nova had barely warmed up to her. The idea of a new doctor, without warning, had Natasha’s protective instincts spiking like wildfire.
“Right,” She muttered. “Fine.”
“Romanoff?”
And here appeared someone who was definitely not Dr. Helen L/N like she, nor Nova, expected.
Natasha turned toward the soft voice — and her defenses faltered.
You, younger, fresher-faced, stood in the doorway wearing light blue scrubs covered in little whales, a clipboard in hand and an apologetic smile on your lips.
Despite so, she followed you after you nodded toward the consultation room and made your way back inside, the door left open for them to come in.
The consultation room looked the same as always — seafoam green walls, a faded Captain America poster on one side, a low exam table with crinkly paper.
“Sorry to surprise you,” You said. “Helen let me take over while she’s recovering. You must be Natasha — and this is Nova?”
“She’s...not great with change,” Natasha said, her voice dry.
“She doesn’t have to be,” You replied gently. Then you crouched down. “Hi, Nova. I know I’m not Dr. Helen, but I’m gonna take care of you today. Would it help if I let you pick the color of the stethoscope?”
Nova didn’t speak. She narrowed her eyes and Natasha held her breath.
You pulled a drawer open just enough for a rainbow of stethoscopes to peek out — bright red, yellow, purple, even a glittery one.
“This is a trap,” Nova whispered.
You grinned. “It’s not. But it is sparkly.”
And instead of doing so much as hiding behind her mother's leg or start to pick a tantrum over not wanting to be approached by a stranger, Nova crept forward slowly, like a suspicious cat, catching Natasha off guard. She pointed. “That one.”
“The purple one?” You asked.
Nova nodded.
“Solid choice,” You smiled. “I think purple’s the color of royalty.”
“She is that,” Natasha muttered under her breath.
From that moment on, Nova was suspiciously cooperative — by her standards. She tolerated the stethoscope, allowed you to check her ears (with some bribes). She even answered your questions, one-word at a time and even insisted on holding your hand instead of her mother’s.
However, threw a tantrum when you checked her heartbeat too long.
But you never flinched. You just worked around it, speaking softly, giving her control in little ways.
It worked.
She made you sit against the wall, clumsily dragging the tape along your arm.
Natasha watched it all from the corner. Her expression unreadable — but her eyes didn’t miss a thing.
“She’s spirited,” You said once Nova finally sat still, cheeks flushed from all her fuss and fun.
“That’s a polite way of putting it,” Natasha replied. “Most people call her a gremlin.”
“She’s two,” You stated. “Being a gremlin is part of the job.”
Natasha raised a brow. “You have kids?”
“No. But I’ve been around enough toddlers to know they run the world.”
The Russian’s mouth twitched. Just slightly. It wasn’t a smile — not quite — but it was something close. “Not many people handle her like that.”
“She’s not difficult,” You added honestly. “She just needs to know I'm not faking it.”
That got Natasha’s attention.
Your eyes met hers, and for a second, the air shifted. So you kept going,
“Kids like her? They read people. If I'm not real, they won’t trust me. She trusted me today. Not fully — not yet, at least. But she didn’t bite me.”
“She did threaten to,” Natasha deadpanned.
You chuckled. “Progress.”
Nova suddenly climbed into Natasha’s lap, curling up against her shoulder with an exaggerated yawn. Natasha automatically wrapped an arm around her, pressing a kiss to her unruly curls.
“Tired already?” she murmured.
“I bite you later,” Nova whispered.
Natasha smirked. “Looking forward to it.”
You turned back to them with the updated chart. “She’s doing great. Still on the taller end of the spectrum, but healthy. Oh, and the sparkly band-aids? She can take two.”
Nova perked up immediately.
“Three,” She countered.
You leaned in, voice conspiratorial. “Only if you promise not to bite your mom.”
Nova considered. Then nodded once.
Natasha watched the exchange, something warm blooming behind her ribs. And when you handed Nova the band-aids — purple, sparkly, with tiny bears — she watched her daughter’s face light up, and for the first time all morning, she felt her tension ease.
Natasha looked down at the toddler in her lap. Nova was peeling a band-aid and trying to stick it on Natasha’s cheek.
Nova Romanoff was a different child now. Well—not different. She was still dramatic, stubborn, and suspicious of anyone who came too close to her cereal bowl. But ever since she met you, she had decided that pediatric visits weren’t all that terrible.
Which both impressed and annoyed Natasha.
Impressed, because Nova wasn’t exactly the trusting type.
Annoyed, because—well. Because Natasha wasn’t sure why it annoyed her.
Two weeks after that first visit, Nova skipped into the clinic wearing matching socks (a rare feat) and handed you a crumpled sticker she’d saved from home.
“It’s a giraffe,” She declared. “Because your neck is long.”
Natasha almost choked on her coffee. You just laughed like it was the best compliment you’d gotten all day.
A month later, Nova insisted on drawing you a picture. It featured a vaguely human blob and Natasha didn’t ask questions.
By the third visit, Nova was sitting calmly on the exam table, letting you check her ears while humming some nonsense song she’d made up.
“Do you bribe her?” Natasha asked, narrowing her eyes as Nova happily let you touch her hair (which she never let anyone except her mama do).
You gave her a look. “Just magic,” You replied with a small smile. “The good kind.”
Natasha hated how easily you smiled.
No—she didn’t hate it. She just… noticed it too much for her liking.
She noticed the way you talked to Nova like she was a person, not a checklist, not an obligation.
The way you remembered little things—like that Nova hated cold stethoscopes and loved green lollipops. The way you never looked at Natasha like she was some intimidating figure with a history, but just a mom trying to juggle a complicated toddler and too much coffee.
The crush snuck up on her. Quiet. Persistent. Inconvenient.
She told herself it was just admiration or professional respect.
Hormones, maybe.
But it was a week later when the random run-in happened.
Natasha wasn’t planning on going into the bookstore while it was raining, but Nova had seen a plush unicorn in the window and launched into a full dramatic plea to “rescue it from the loneliness.”
So there they were—Natasha in jeans, a hoodie, and a ball cap pulled low. Nova bouncing beside her with the unicorn clutched tight to her chest.
They were turning down an aisle when the elder redhead heard your voice.
“I know I said one book, but it’s three for two. That’s like financial responsibility, if you think about it.”
You were talking to yourself. Or to your basket. Either way, it made Natasha pause.
You hadn’t seen her yet.
She watched you for a moment longer than she meant to—sleeves pushed to your elbows, your face lit up softly by the overhead light, hair always pulled up in that lazy but somehow flawless ponytail. There was a little crease between your brows as you tried to decide between two picture books.
Nova didn’t hesitate. “DOCTOR GIRAFFE!”
You got startled, almost dropping the books. Then you turned—and grinned.
“Well if it isn’t the Romanoffs,” You spoke up. “Fancy seeing you here.”
“Unicorn emergency,” Natasha deadpanned.
You nodded solemnly. “Those are the most serious kinds.”
Nova marched forward. “Look! Her name is Rainbow Power. She needs to read books or she’ll be lonely.”
“Sounds like she’s going to need at least two stories a night,” you said, crouching to eye-level.
Nova lit up like a lantern. “Three.”
“Now you’re just negotiating like your mother.”
Natasha, from behind, cleared her throat. “She gets that from someone else.”
You stood and gave her a knowing look. “Right.”
There was a pause. A quiet, soft moment that neither of you filled immediately.
“I didn’t know you liked this place,” You said after a beat.
Natasha shrugged. “It’s close. And Nova likes the kids’ section.”
You glanced at the overflowing display of picture books and then back at her. “Well, next time you come, let me know. I’m here more often than I’d like to admit.”
Nova tugged on your sleeve. “Can Rainbow Power and I read with you?”
You looked at Natasha.
She blinked. “Oh. I—”
“I mean, only if you don’t mind,” You stated, voice easy. “We could grab the little beanbags in the corner. No pressure.”
Natasha looked at Nova. Then at you.
Then at Nova again, whose face had the kind of hopeful look that could shatter steel.
“…Sure,” Natasha said slowly. “Why not.”
It wasn’t a big deal. Just a few pages read in quiet voices, with Nova nestled between you on one side and Natasha on the other. The sound of the rain outside softened everything.
You let Nova “help” you turn the pages and didn’t correct her when she misspelled an unknown word you read because, yes, the little one picked-up on words and expressions very fast for her age. Natasha noticed the way you smiled, the way you listened. Really listened.
It wasn’t dramatic or heart-pounding. It wasn’t some movie-worthy lightning strike.
But by the time Rainbow Power had been tucked into Nova’s arms and three books had been read twice, Natasha realized something kind of terrifying:
She wanted to see you outside that clinic again. For no medical reason whatsoever.
And for Natasha Romanoff, that was a problem.
Natasha had faced aliens, robots, espionage, and near-death missions.
But nothing —nothing— was as nerve-wracking as standing outside a pediatric clinic with slightly sweaty palms, wondering if she should pretend she just forgot to reschedule a check-up for Nova. Again.
“She’s not even going to be in today,” She muttered to herself, leaning against the wall with her phone out, pretending to scroll. “This is dumb.”
Because ever since the bookstore run-in, Natasha hadn’t been able to stop thinking about you.
It wasn’t just the way you made Nova feel seen and safe. It was the way you talked to her, too. Like she wasn’t broken or sharp-edged. Like you liked her just the way she was, awkward silences and all.
So yeah. Maybe she wanted to see you again. Not as Dr. Y/N. Not as Nova’s pediatrician.
Just you. Y/N.
She exhaled slowly and walked toward the clinic doors before she could talk herself out of it. Again.
You were at the front desk, head tilted toward the receptionist as you scribbled something down. You looked up when you heard the soft chime of the door.
Your smile appeared instantly. “Well, if it isn’t my favorite mother.”
Natasha blinked. “You... say that to all the moms?”
You grinned. “Only the ones who have daughters with opinions about giraffes.”
She didn’t know what to do with that, so she nodded like that meant something.
There was a beat of silence. You tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear and leaned slightly on the counter.
“Everything okay with Nova?” You questioned gently.
“Yeah,” Natasha said quickly. “No check-up today.”
You arched a brow. “Then what brings you in?”
Here it was. The moment.
Natasha had practiced this. Sort of. She’d stood in front of the mirror and said ‘Hey, do you wanna grab coffee sometime?’ about six different ways, all of which made her sound like she’d been hit on the head recently.
But now?
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing came out.
“Uh...” She started, eyes flicking to the floor, then back to your face.
You waited, patiently soft.
“I was just—nearby. And I remembered that Nova left one of her, um… plushies. Here. Maybe.”
You blinked. “Oh? Which one?”
“Uh. The… purple one?”
You turned to look behind the desk. “Do you mean the sparkly goat that she tried to trade me for three dinosaur stickers?”
“…Possibly.”
You retrieved the plush and set it gently on the counter. “She’s been safe and sound. We gave her honorary staff status.”
Natasha huffed a laugh. “Good. She’s a tough negotiator.”
Another pause.
You tilted your head. “Was that all?”
She had to ask. Now or never.
Natasha cleared her throat. “Actually—there was something else.”
You straightened slightly.
“I was wondering,” She said slowly, cautiously, like the words might turn and bite her, “if… sometime soon… if you wanted to get a coffee.”
You blinked again.
Then smiled.
Natasha panicked. “For Nova. I mean. Obviously.”
Natasha pushed on. “Like—for Nova to be around other adults. Or whatever. She needs social enrichment, and you’re good with her, and you like books, and—coffee—do you like coffee?”
You nodded slowly, huffing a chuckle. “Yeah. I do.”
“Great,” Natasha said, as if she’d just run a marathon. “That’s good.”
There was a moment of silence. Then your lips quirked.
“Natasha,” you said gently. “Are you asking me out?”
Natasha froze.
You watched her, head tilted, kindness glowing in your expression. “Because if you are, you don’t have to make it about Nova. I’d say yes.”
Natasha stared.
“You would?”
You laughed. “Is that surprising?”
“I don’t—usually do this.”
Your voice dropped an octave. “Ask people out?”
“Yeah. Especially not doctors.”
You leaned closer, resting your elbows on the counter. “Especially not ones your daughter wants to share juice boxes with?”
“She never offers juice to no one,” Natasha said solemnly. “Not even her aunt.”
“Wow,” you teased. “I’m honored, then.”
Natasha rubbed the back of her neck. “So... uh. Saturday? Coffee?”
“Saturday,” you confirmed. “Text me?”
She nodded. You handed her the sparkly goat plush and slid a small card with your number across the counter.
“I’ll see you then,” you said, smiling like you already knew it would go well.
Natasha turned to leave, goat in hand, face slightly flushed.
From the car, Nova clapped her hands as soon as Natasha opened the door.
“Did you ask?”
Natasha sighed. “Yes.”
Nova leaned forward with wide, expectant eyes. “Are you gonna kiss her face?”
“Not yet.”
Nova slumped dramatically. “Then what was the point?”
Natasha had changed her shirt three times.
And by changed, she meant stood in front of her mirror and stared at herself in increasingly uncharacteristic sweaters before giving up and putting her black leather jacket over a soft green tee that Nova called “the nice one.”
“You look like a sandwich,” Nova had declared, munching toast in her pajamas. “That’s good.”
“Thanks?” Natasha muttered.
Now she was sitting across from you in a cozy, not-too-loud, not-too-crowded coffee shop tucked beside a bookstore. You were already there when she arrived — somehow both casual and radiant in a dark wool coat and soft scarf. You’d greeted her with that easy smile that made her forget basic words.
She’d brought Nova’s sparkly goat plush in her bag, just in case she needed a conversation starter.
So far, she hadn’t needed it.
“I’m glad you called,” you said, sipping your drink, warm mug between your hands.
Natasha glanced at you. “Yeah. I, uh… I’m glad you said yes.”
You gave her a look that was kind and teasing at once. “I don’t make a habit of saying no to smart women with adorable daughters and terrible flirting skills.”
Natasha huffed. “It wasn’t that bad.”
“You tried to blame your attraction on a plushie.”
“I panicked!”
You grinned, and Natasha couldn’t help but return it. This was easier than she thought it would be. Less terrifying.
You talked. About Nova, about books, about how you once tried to volunteer at a wildlife rescue and got bitten by a duck.
Natasha laughed out loud — not just the quiet breathy laugh she gave people who expected her to be human. A real one.
You looked at her like the sound made your chest warm. And maybe it did.
“I think she likes you,” Natasha said quietly, eventually, her coffee going lukewarm in her hand.
“Nova?”
She nodded.
“She doesn’t like many people.”
Your smile softened. “I noticed. She reminds me of you. The way she watches first, then chooses. The way she doesn’t pretend to like people she doesn’t trust. But once she’s in… she’s in. Loyal. All heart.”
That made something tight and tender twist in Natasha’s chest. She looked down, unsure what to say.
“I like her,” You added gently. “A lot.”
Natasha looked up.
Your expression was soft. Honest.
“I like you, too,” You continued, voice quieter but honest.
And just like that, she wasn’t nervous anymore. She was just—warm. Surprised by how easy it felt to be seen like this. Genuinely.
She opened her mouth to say something — she didn’t know what yet — when your phone buzzed on the table.
You glanced at the screen, the easy light in your face faltering.
Natasha caught it instantly.
“Everything okay?”
You didn’t answer right away.
The phone buzzed again. Same name. You swallowed hard.
“Sorry,” you said under your breath, already reaching for it. “It’s the hospital. Where my aunt—where Helen is.”
Natasha sat straighter. Her voice was steady, low. “You should answer.”
You did.
“Y/N L/N speaking,” you said gently. Then a pause. A longer one.
Natasha couldn’t hear what was said, but she didn’t need to. She saw it in your face — the slow, unraveling expression. The way your hand clutched the phone just a little tighter.
Natasha sat up slightly, noticing the change in your posture — the way your shoulders drew inward, bracing.
Your face froze.
The warmth of the café blurred into the background. Natasha could hear the blood rush behind her own ears as she watched your expression fall.
Your voice cracked, so quiet. “What?”
Another pause.
Then, shakier, “When?”
Your hand, gripping the phone, trembled slightly. Natasha reached out on instinct, her fingers brushing yours across the table — steady, grounding.
You finally nodded, though your eyes were wet. “Okay. Thank you. I’ll… I’ll be there.”
You hung up slowly.
Natasha didn’t pull away. “Y/N?”
Your mouth opened, but no words came. Just a few seconds of shallow breathing. And then, quietly, as if afraid saying it out loud would make it more real:
“It was the doctor...”
Natasha’s chest tightened.
“Helen, She—” You blinked quickly, trying to hold it together. “She passed. A few minutes ago. Complications from the surgery last week. It wasn’t supposed to be—she was recovering—she was—”
“I’m so sorry,” Natasha said softly, voice low, warm.
There was a beat of silence. Then you stood abruptly, grabbing your coat, your phone. “I have to go. I need to—tell my mom. I need to be with her. I’m so sorry—”
“Don’t apologize,” Natasha said, rising with you. “Come on, I’ll drive you.”
You shook your head, head spinning. “No—no, it’s fine, I can—”
“You shouldn’t be alone right now.”
That silenced you.
You nodded, eyes glossy.
“I didn’t—” Your breath hitched. “I wasn’t ready.”
Natasha reached across the table without thinking, hand finding yours.
You didn’t pull away.
“She was stubborn,” you said quietly, blinking fast. “She’d been sick a while. But she kept joking about living to a hundred. I really thought we had more time.”
“I’m sorry,” Natasha said again, and she meant it with everything she had. “I can drop you wherever you need.”
You smiled, shakily. “Thank you.”
She drove you in silence, the kind that wasn’t empty — just soft, full of understanding. When you reached your apartment, she put the car in park and turned toward you.
“I’m here,” she said. “Okay? If you need anything.”
You nodded. “I know.”
A beat of quiet passed.
Then you leaned in and hugged her — not long, not lingering. Just real.
You stared at her, eyes glossy and wide, and then nodded. You exhaled, shaky and heavy.
“Thank you for the coffee.”
“It was a good coffee,” she said, softly.
You gave a tiny nod. “I’m sorry the date ended like this.”
“It didn’t end,” Natasha said gently, watching you. “It just paused.”
You looked at her, startled.
“I’ll wait,” she added. “As long as you need.”
For the first time since the call, something warm flickered in your eyes. You reached out, pressed your hand lightly to her arm.
“Thank you, Nat”
Natasha sat in the car long after you left, staring out the windshield, her heart caught somewhere between grief and something softer.
The funeral was small.
Helen had never wanted something grand. She hated pomp, avoided big parties, and always joked that if more than twenty people cried at her funeral, she’d come back and haunt them out of embarrassment.
Still, when you saw the turnout—old colleagues, a few former patients, your mother with red-rimmed eyes clutching tissues in one hand—you wished she could see it. The quiet reverence. The soft way people spoke her name.
The flowers were lavender, her favorite. The casket simple. She would’ve liked that. No drama. Just love.
You stood at the front with your family, hand squeezing your mother’s as the minister spoke.
But your eyes kept drifting back.
To Natasha.
And Nova.
The redhead sat near the back, dressed in quiet black. Her expression was unreadable to most, but you could tell—there was softness in the way she held Nova close on her lap, fingers gently stroking the girl’s back as she clutched a small bouquet of lavender sprigs in her chubby hands.
Nova had insisted on bringing them. Said they were “for the nice lady who always smelled like books.”
Natasha had tried to explain death to her. The finality of it. But Nova, being Nova, had decided she didn’t like final things.
“She’s just sleeping in the stars now,” she told Natasha with a frown. “We should still bring flowers.”
So they did.
After the service, you moved outside with the others. The overcast sky had held off for most of the morning, but a light mist had begun to fall. It wasn’t cold—just gently mournful, like the weather knew not to shout on a day like this.
Natasha approached as the crowd started to thin.
“Hey,” she said softly.
You turned. The moment your eyes met hers, the grief cracked your composure. You didn’t sob, but you blinked too fast and clutched your arms like they were the only thing keeping you upright.
Natasha didn’t hesitate.
She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around you.
You sank into her without thinking. She was solid. Quiet. Steady.
Nova reached up with her little bouquet and pressed it gently to your arm.
Your throat burned as you knelt to her level, taking the lavender with trembling fingers.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” you said, voice breaking.
Nova hugged you, small arms warm around your neck. Natasha watched her daughter with something soft in her eyes, like she couldn’t believe how easily she’d chosen you.
“I don’t want you to be sad,” Nova whispered. “You’re my doctor friend.”
You smiled through the ache. “I’m really lucky to be your doctor friend.”
Natasha gave you time, didn’t push, just stayed by your side as people offered their condolences. She was your anchor without trying to be.
Eventually, when only a few people remained, she touched your shoulder gently.
“Want me to walk you to your car?”
You nodded.
The walk was quiet. She carried Nova, who had started yawning, cheek pressed to her mother’s collarbone.
“I wasn’t sure I should come,” Natasha admitted, keeping her voice low.
You glanced at her.
“I’m glad you did,” you said honestly.
“She meant something to you.”
You nodded. “She raised me. My parents were around but… Helen was constant. She’s why I went into medicine. Why I even thought I could do it.”
Natasha didn’t say anything at first, just listened.
“She must’ve been proud.”
You looked at her.
“She was,” you said. “She told me that. But I don’t think I ever told her how much she meant to me. Not really.”
“She knew,” Natasha said quietly. “Because I see the way Nova looks at you. And the way you look back.” Natasha offered a small smile. “It’s the same way you probably looked at Helen.”
Your eyes filled again. But this time, they didn’t spill. You breathed through it.
“Do you want to come in for a bit?” you asked softly. “Just for tea or something. Nova can nap if she wants.”
Natasha hesitated. “Are you sure?”
You nodded. “I’d like the company. And I think Nova wants more cookies.”
Nova stirred on her shoulder at the word cookies but didn’t protest. She just murmured, “Only if she makes the round ones.”
You smiled. “I always make the round ones.
And just like that, you left the funeral behind — not the grief, not the loss, but the moment — stepping slowly toward something that felt a little like healing.
A few weeks after Helen’s funeral.
Grief wasn’t loud. It came in stillness. In the half-sipped tea you forgot on the windowsill. In the voicemail you kept replaying just to hear the voice again. But it didn’t stop life.
You had gone back to work. Your patients needed you. Nova needed you. And — though you never said it aloud — you needed them too.
Especially Nova. And her mother.
It had started with Natasha picking Nova up after a check-up and asking if you wanted to grab lunch — “for Nova,” she’d said, like it wasn’t obvious she needed the pause too.
Then a few shared weekends — trips to the park, early brunches where Nova smeared syrup on both your sleeves. Movie nights with blankets and popcorn and a fussy two-year-old who always ended up asleep in one of your laps.
And slowly, quietly, without much fanfare, you and Natasha just fit.
Not in a whirlwind. Not in a fairytale.
But in the way you leaned toward each other when you laughed.
In how Natasha always texted you when Nova said something funny — she just told a pigeon to “get therapy” because it kept pacing.
In how she learned how you took your latte and always handed it to you without asking.
And in the way your apartment now had Nova’s favorite cup and spoon in the cabinet.
On a quiet Sunday evening, the three of you sat on your couch. Nova was curled between you, cradling a stuffed dinosaur you’d won her at a spring fair. She was almost asleep — half-lidded, thumb in her mouth, one hand tangled in your sweater.
Natasha’s voice was quiet.
“She didn’t used to be like this.”
You looked over.
“She hated new people. Didn’t even let Clint hold her until she was almost two.”
You smiled, brushing a lock of hair from Nova’s cheek. “She’s still selective.”
“Exactly. That’s what gets me.” Natasha tilted her head slightly toward you. “She trusts you. Just clicked with you. It scared me at first.”
You blinked. “Scared you?”
“I’m not used to… things happening easily. Or quickly. Or softly.” Natasha looked down at Nova, then back at you. “You were soft with her. Patient. The kind of love that doesn't ask anything in return.”
Your heart ached in a good way.
“I liked you too before I even realized I did,” she said, almost like a confession. “And then you lost Helen, and you let me be there — even when you didn’t want to talk. That meant something.”
You watched her. “You mean something to me, too.”
Silence settled again, but it was warm.
Nova shifted in her sleep, turning into Natasha’s side with a little sigh. Natasha reached over and gently covered her with a throw blanket.
“She asked me last night if you were family,” Natasha murmured.
Your breath caught.
“And I told her… ‘not yet.’”
You smiled. “What did she say?”
“She said, ‘Then you better ask her fast.’” Natasha looked over at you, the corners of her mouth lifted. “So… I’m asking.”
You tilted your head, heart thudding softly. “Asking what?”
“To be part of your life. For real. Not just parks and tea and polite texts. I don’t want to just orbit around you anymore.”
You studied her — the nervous flicker in her gaze, rare and raw. The honesty. The slight tremble of her fingers as they brushed against yours.
“I don’t want that either,” you whispered.
And then, quietly, with Nova fast asleep between you, Natasha leaned in.
It wasn’t a movie kiss — no swelling music, no dramatic lighting. Just lips that found yours like they’d always known the way. Slow. Sure. Finally.
When you pulled back, Natasha rested her forehead against yours, exhaling something like relief.
Nova stirred.
Natasha blinked down at her, and you both waited — but all she did was mumble, “Can I have pancakes for dinner?”
You both laughed.
“You spoil her,” Natasha said with affection.
“She spoils me,” you replied.
And with Nova snuggled safely between you, the three of you sat in the dim, quiet room.
Not quite perfect. Not quite healed.
But together.
And that was enough.
an : oh, i love nova soo much already :((

MISSED YOU | chris sturniolo

| ".... god, i hate that i missed you so much"
pairing: dealer!chris x fem!reader
summary: your dealer has been out of town for almost two weeks and after he's finally back, he texts you needing to see you.
warnings; smut, dom!chris, sub!reader, p in v, pet names, praising, unprotected sex, dirty talking, hair pulling, rough sex, car sex, crying, public¿ sex, cursing, mdni
a/n: literally my first fanfic after a looong time so please bear with me, if its bad... you know why. english isnt my first language so sorry for any mistakes! also its a little long 😭 part two here !!
~~~
she laughed at some joke her friend made and took another bite of her pizza. it was late friday afternoon, she and her bestfriends were hanging out, since there was nothing else to do. everything was great, until her phone buzzed. she looks at her screen, immediately smiling when she sees his name. she wasn't even aware that her lips had curved into a smile.
her friends were too busy with their own conversation, so she uses her moment and grabs her phone, reading the message from chris. she hasn't heard from him in over two weeks, she had no clue what he was doing, or where he was. she also didn't want to ask, hating the feeling of being too desperate. and it's not like he owns her any explanation either.
chris: u busy?
she bites her lip, fighting the urge to smile again as she replies back.
y/n: hi to you too
y/n: yeah im out with friends, whats up
chris: having fun?
chris: when u gonna be home ma?
y/n: like in an hour or so
chris: can u hurry up? c'mon kid i miss ya
y/n: you do???
she can't help but genuinely grins this time, her eyes widen a little. did he miss her? or was he just saying that to make her give in? he always knew how to talk to her, to make her going feral over him. but she wanted to believe he means it this time.
chris: hell yeah i do
chris: get ur ass out here
she looks at her friends, that were still yapping about something, that she couldn't care less about right now. she needed to see him. he never said he missed her before.
y/n: then come pick me up, im sending u the address
chris: omw gorgeous
chris is already in his car, when she sends him the address. not being able to see her for over two weeks, made him think. A lot. he has been her drug dealer for over a year now, there was tension between them since the beginning, so it didnt take them long to finally fuck at some party a few months ago. and since then, it's happening every now and then, usually they meet to smoke together, then they end up all over each other.
after a few minutes, he parks the car in front of the pizzeria, finally seeing her. she made a stupid excuse for her friends to leave, not being able to hide her excitement, so they just could assume what was going on.
chris gets out of the car, looking her up and down, licking his lips as she was only wearing a black crop top and baggy camo pants. he personally loved those, especially on her.
he opens the door for her, a smirk playing on his lips. "get in."
she tried her hardest to act casual, but just seeing him after a while, in all black outfit, was enough to make her dizzy. and she could swear he got a haircut. his hair was so much shorter, and she loved it.
she smiles, keeping the eye contact while getting inside the car. he closes the door, his eyes roaming all over her body as she walked towards him. he snaps back to reality, getting to the other side and climbing back into the drivers seat. he was feeling so many things that he couldn't express.
"missed me so bad, you couldn't wait an hour, huh?" she speaks up, putting on the seatbelt and looking over at him, while he starts the car.
she notices the way he looks her up and down, his eyes stopping at her exposed skin a little too long.
"i've missed my favorite customer." he smirks, going back to the eye contact.
"yeah, your favorite customer... right." she says sarcastically, trying her hardest to keep her cool and not to blush under his stare.
he grins before replying, focused on keeping his hands on the wheel instead of her body. it was getting harder with every second. "yeah, the one i always gotta give free stuff to."
"oh, dont act like i force you to do this..." she scoffs, still looking at him. "you know i always want to pay you."
"i know y'do... doesn't mean i will stop givin' it to you for free though."
"see, and that's crazy."
chris rolls his eyes, loving and hating at the same time, how she always had to talk back to him. he's driving, planning to go to her house, but the way she's looking right now, and especially her attitude, is making him crazy. he feels his dick getting harder with every second.
"whatever, ma. i know you secretly like it."
"yeah, sure." she mumbles with sarcastic tone, her eyes still watching him. seeing him driving was one of her favorite things in the world, he always looked so good. she appreciates, that he gives her stuff for free or cuts down her prices, but dealing was his job, he was making money out of it, so she always felt bad when he didnt want her cash. "what made you busy for so long? thought the cops caught or some shit"
chris bites his lip, his eyes glancing over to her for a second, before focusing back on the road. he never felt so desperate like right now, just having her in his car like that...
once he hears her question, he snaps back to reality and smiles. "the cops? please, sweetheart, they can suck my dick."
chris changes his direction, spotting an empty parking lot and he drives there. "i was out of town, had to deal with some business... nothin' to worry about now." he explains, parking and turning off his car, and his stare travels to her, scanning her face and body. "you're so curious...."
she nods, now understanding why he wasn't texting her these past two weeks, she was a bit ashamed 'cause she honestly thought maybe he got bored of her, so she didn't text him either. she still got some weed until yesterday, so she also had no reason to.
"why would you stop here?" she asks, looking at him with a little frown, but once she sees his smirk, the realization hits her. the excitement filling her body, the tension between them so noticeable, it makes her shiver.
he stares at her for a moment, adjusting his pants and then suddenly he unbuckles his seatbelt, sitting back in his seat so there was more space now.
"c'mere."
her eyes travels down on his lap, seeing the noticeable big bulge even through his jeans. she blushes slightly, looking back at him, the smirk still playing on his lips and it makes her weak in her knees.
"chris..." he cuts her off by reaching over and grabbing her chin, tilting her face closer to his.
"y'gonna do what i said, or keep talking back?"
she immediately unbuckles her seatbelt, moving over the center console and she gets into his lap, straddling him. she wasn't gonna act like she didn't miss him too, because, goddamn, she did. she presses herself onto his hard dick, watching him closely, and seeing how desperate and frustrated he was right now. It made her feel a little bit of a power, that she decided to take advantage of.
"now, was that so hard, ma?" he smirks even more, trying to hide his growing need for her, but his hands moves to grip onto her thighs. he felt the urge to touch her all over.
"you know, fifteen more minutes and we would be at my place-"
"you really think, i would wait fifteen fucking minutes, when i havent seen you for two weeks, and you look like that?" he loves the way she looks at him, with such admiration. she was so pretty in his eyes, he never felt this type of desperation for anyone ever before.
"and who's fault is that?" his hands grips her tighter and puts her closer in on his lap, making a little bit of friction, that he so desperately needs. his fingers digging into her skin, while he stares into her eyes.
"shut up for once, yeah?"
"make me." she smirks, challenging him. he doesn't have to hear it twice, loving the attitude she's giving him right now. his hand moves up from her thigh to the back of her neck, pulling her face closer and he kisses her roughly, grabbing her ass with his other hand as he does.
she smiles against his lips, immediately kissing him back with the same intensity, and she grinds down against his clothed dick, feeling her own need growing with every second. she missed the way he kissed her, she missed his lips, his hands all over her, his body against hers. she missed him and she hated to admit that.
she slides her tongue into his mouth, he bites her lip in response and lets her lead the kiss. moving up his hips to feel her more and not being able to hold back, he groans against her lips. he never felt so needy before. he pulls away for a moment to speak, and starts trailing kisses down her neck, squeezing her ass, before his hand moves up, caressing the skin on her exposed stomach.
"god, i hate that i missed you so much."
it slips from his mouth, he doesn't think much about it as he sucks on her skin, but for her it meant everything. she tilts back her head, giving him more space and she grinds against his lap some more, running her hand through his brown hair. he lets out a growl as she grinds down on him, making him even harder and he bucks his hips up again. lifting up his head from her neck his stare finds hers, the noticeable lust in his eyes made her bite her lip to hold back a moan. the smirk coming back to his face once he notices her flushed cheeks.
"what 'bout you, huh, ma? missed me too?"
she closes her eyes, their face so close to each other, it makes their lips brush when she replies him back.
"yeah... i did"
he grins, his hands playing with the waistband of her pants. that's all he needed to know, that she missed him as much as he missed her. even though they both were aware, they should'nt.
"how much, hm?" he unzips her pants, she lifts herself up, gripping his shoulders to balance herself and helps him take them off. then she straddles him again, trying to hold back her smile, but not being able to.
"want me to show you?"
he groans after her words, feeling her wet panties pressing against his hard dick and he bucks up his hips again, being so desperate, that he was ready to beg her. he starts marking her neck again, his hand traveling between her legs, massaging her clit through her underwear. her breath hitches in her throat, she lets out a little whine and grips his hair slightly.
"so wet already... shiiiitttt... all this f'me, huh?" he says against her skin, bitting on it slightly and making her moan. he adds more pressure, circling over her clit. "lift this shit up."
his tone demanding, he wasn't asking. she lifts up her top, revealing her breasts. he looks at her now, his eyes going back and forth between her tits, and her face. "fuck... not wearing a bra? fuckin' slut..."
he licks her hard nipple, then starting sucking on it. her hand tightens in his hair, tilting her head back and she lets out more whimpers. she was supposed to be the one in control this time, she craved it and saw how needy he is, but the way he's touching her, makes her losing her mind. he then pulls her panties to the side, running his fingers through her wet folds and suddenly putting one inside her. not even giving her any time, he just starts pumping in and out, adding another finger after a moment, now stretching her out. he pulls away from her nipple, looking at her face.
"c-chris..." she moans quietly, trying her hardest to keep the eye contact, but struggles to do so. her hands now traveling down his chest and unbuckling his belt.
"yeah, ma? y'like that?" he tries to keep his cool, still working his fingers inside her dripping pussy, curling them and making her whine in response. "look at you... so, fuckin' desperate on my lap. missed my fingers, huh? want some more?"
she desperately nods, squeezing around his fingers, but once he feels that, he pulls them out immediately putting them in his mouth to lick them clean. she whines, pouting her lips when he stops.
"show me how much you missed this dick then."
she bites her lip, unzipping his pants and with his help, she pulls them down to his knees, his boxers following after a second. chris leans his head back against the seat, gripping her hips as she gives him a few strokes before pulling her underwear to the side. she runs her thumb over his tip, collecting the precum and spreading it all over his cock, using it as a lubricant and then she lowers herself slowly on his cock, the movement making them both moan out loud with pleasure. she stays like this for a moment, needing to adjust after these past two weeks without him.
"fuckk...so tight...your pussy was made f'me.." he groans, tightening his grip on her hips and he watches her closely, as she finally starts moving on him. he’s holding himself back from moving up his hips and taking over, trying so hard not to thrust into her. he loves the feeling of her body against his and he’s missed it so much. he needed it, he needed her and he hated that. the feeling just kept growing, making the space in the car feel even smaller.
he pulls her back down into another kiss, this time more sloppy, continuing to move his tongue against hers, tasting her. she kisses him back, starting speeding up her pace and now bouncing on him harder. his dick hitting just all the right spots, making her moan loudly while chris tries to focus on the kiss and not to lose his composure. he wanted to take over, he always did, but the feeling of her riding him like that, has him gripping the seat. he grits his teeth, trying to keep himself together and he knows his patience wont last long. he looks up at her again, his eyes glued to her face.
"fuckkkk, ma.... takin' all of me so well... shit..." he hisses, when she speeds up even more. "so good.... s-so good f'me...."
she grips into his shoulders more, moaning loudly at his praises and she continues moving. chris is in complete ecstasy as she picks the pace up, a feeling like he hasn’t experienced before. there's just something about her on top and taking what she wants, that's got him feeling so many things at once.
“fuck.. just like that” one of his hands grab her ass, giving it a squeeze and then slapping it. "fuckin' slut... you like it? fucking in my car? takin' it just like a little bitch.... yeah? shitttt..."
he moans now not being able to hold back, and he starts thrusting into her. she gasps for air, her eyes closing shut as she tightens around him. "oh, wanna cum, huh? not yet darlin'...." he grips her hips more, his tip hitting her g-spot with every move.
"chris i-"
she cuts herself off with another moan, not being able to think straight. she digs her nails into the back of his neck, her head falling down on his shoulder and he immediately stops. her eyes snap open, she lifts up her head to look at him, a smirk playing on his lips.
"you better don't look away f'me, ma.... wanna see your pretty face y'know? and keep makin' those sexy little sounds...got it?"
she nods, but it's not enough from him as he speaks up again. "use your words baby, c'mon... you aint that fucked out of your mind yet, hm?"
"i got it, just... please..." she whines, moving her hips, wanting to bounce on him again, but he stops her. she pouts. "chrissss......"
"get to the backseat." he demands, after scanning her face for a while. he wanted to give her all the pleasure she deserves. he wasn't even thinking about himself, he couldn't care less about his release. he just needed to make her feel good, making sure no one else can do what he can.
she pulls away from him, now moving over the center console again, struggling a bit but she gets into the backseat. chris obviously smacks her ass as she does, what makes her squeak.
"chris!"
but he just smirks, pulling off his pants and boxers all the way down and throwing it on the passenger seat, so it wasn't in the way. he gets on the back himself, there was little space, but enough to get into his favorite position. chris puts his hand on her back, forcing her to get on her knees and hands on the seat, as he positions himself behind her. chris loves the way he can get her all desperate and begging, so he teases her now. he moves his tip along her folds, making her whine. then he slowly puts it in, but after a few seconds he pulls back again.
"chris...." she whines, knowing he's playing with her now.
"yeah, baby?"
she bites her lip, her face pressing into the seat and she lifts up her hips more. "stop teasing me, please...."
he grins even more, slapping her pussy with his dick and then he suddenly pulls his cock all the way in, making her gasp and scream out of pleasure. the new angle let him hit all of her sweet spots.
"whatever you want, princess." he starts thrusting into her with a very intense and fast pace, going as deep as he could. the car now filled up with her moans and the sounds of skin slapping against each other. he grips her hips tight, keeping her in place. he can feel her squeezing around his cock again, and he lets out a growl. "c'mon.... cum all over me...wanna see you while y'do..."
chris moves one of his hands, grabbing her hair and pulling her head back, having a good view on her face. her mouth wide open, letting out loud moans, her eyes rolling back.
"oh my god!" she cries out, gripping the edge of the seat like her life depended on it and she releases, the wet, squelching sound coming from her now louder. he groans, kissing her neck and whispering into her ear.
"you feel so good... cummin' like that f'me... such a good girl.."
she moans, squeezing around him again, the overstimulation now making her shiver as he keeps going with the crazy pace, not slowing down at all. he lets go of her hair, her head immediately falling onto the seat and he grips by her hips again, making sure she feels him as deep as he wants her to. he growls, being on the edge himself.
"i'm... close.." he mutters, throwing his head back. "gonna fill you up, yeah?"
she whines nodding desperately, but then he smacks her ass giving her a sign to answer verbally.
"shit! yes, fuck, yes chris, please!" she feels tears filling up her eyes from the pleasure, a few of them coming down her cheeks moment later. chris bites his lip, feeling her tightening around him. he moves one of his hands between her legs, now rubbing her clit, while still thrusting hard into her, but his movements getting sloppier. she cries out, her legs trembling and his dick twitches, finally cumming inside her, his warm sticky release filling her up and dripping out of her. he curses under his breath, digging his fingers into her skin, leaving bruises as he does. she feels him cumming, and the overstimulation from him lazily massaging her clit and still hitting her g-spot, makes her finish again. the pressure in her stomach now becoming too much, unable to hold back, she feels the liquid squirts out of her in waves.
his eyes snap open, looking down at her and he growls. he slows down until he eventually stops, after they both ride out their highs, this time not wanting to overstimulate her. looking at the mess she made, he can't help but feel a bit cocky about it.
"shit, ma.... squirtin' all over me, huh? is it how it is now?" he smirks, a little surprised that he made her do that but he couldn't be more proud. he pulls out of her, letting go of her hips and her body immediately falls onto the seat. she's breathing heavily, not being able to reply yet. "that's my fuckin' girl.."
he runs his fingers along her inner thigh, collecting her and his cum and he leans in a bit, covering over her. he looks at her fucked out expression and the smudged mascara on her cheeks. "look at me."
she opens her eyes, her mind blank, body shaking. he puts his fingers into her mouth, she immediately cleans them up, tasting both his and her release on her tongue, making sure she keeps the eye contact with him while she does that.
"you're so hot." he says now kissing the tears on her cheeks away. "took me so well..."
she smiles, seeing his flushed cheeks and messy hair sticking to his forehead. it was her favorite view.
"y'good, kid? don't go all mute on me now.."
"don't call me that...." she mumbles, trying to get her sarcastic attitude back, but she was absolutely spent right now. "i'm fine."
he just grins, gently patting her cheek before he pulls away. she slowly lifts herself up, trying to fight her trembling legs and she sits up now, facing him. not being able to do anything more yet, her glare moving to her legs and the seat she made mess on. she feels her cheeks growing hotter, now suddenly embarrassed and trying to ignore his stare. this never happened to her with him before and she didn't know what he thought about it.
"sorry about... the seats" she mumbles, grimacing.
he raises his eyebrows, now seeing her embarrassment and he doesn't understand why. it was a little surprising but he felt so proud. he already wanted to make her do it all over again. "you f'real? don't even say sorry, ever again."
she's still not so sure, blushing even more as he wipes her cheeks from the smudged mascara and then runs his hand through her hair, trying to fix it a little bit. he smiles softly. "gonna clean this up later, don't you worry 'bout that, okay?"
chris then reaches into the center console for the tissues, grabbing them and spreading her legs with his hands. she watches him closely seeing how he starts just gently cleaning her up. this simple movement makes her feel the heat rising from her cheeks down to her neck, so she just covers her face with her hands shyly. not really being able to understand why is she so embarrassed this time, he grabs her wrists, forcing her hands to move away from her face.
"y'gotta be kiddin' me. don't hide from me, ma." chris mutters. "not when you made such pretty mess in my car."
with a quiet sigh, she lets him take her hands off of her face. she chews on her bottom lip nervously while he goes back to cleaning her up, touching her slightly as she was made from some kind of glass. it was even cute, how he just made sure she was fine. it's not their first rough sex, but this one was definitely more intense and for some reason felt so... different. she had this strange feeling in her chest, just seeing him focused on wiping her legs and how he didn't seem to care about his covered in her release seats. once he's done, he sits beside her, wrapping his hand around her shoulder and pulling her close. she doesn't like the silence, even if before it was never awkward, this one was bothering her as she couldn't stop feeling unfamiliar emotions.
"i ran out, by the way." she suddenly blurts out, making him laugh. there was no way in hell this girl was real.
"yeah? good to know. gonna give y'some more later."
"im paying this time."
"oh, you've paid enough already." she immediately looks up at him, smacking his shoulder and he chuckles in response, pretending to be in pain. "woaaahh, bein' a little brat again, hm?"
"that's not funny, im giving you money." her tone shows no objection, he smirks and nods, knowing he won't take anything from her anyway. they sit like that for a moment, before he speaks up, knowing he will get another hit after that.
"soooo... round two?"
"christopher, i swear to god."
OUR CAFE IN JEJU
You and Dae ho plan to open a cafe in jeju after you both leave the games
GENRE: Angst
PAIRING: Kang Dae ho x gn!reader
It's night time, or atleast you guess it was as you sit awake, your eyes slowly drifting to all the people who slept blissfully, as if though they all didn't just witness multiple killings
The sight almost disgusted you,
Almost
Gi hun, or no. 456, the man who oddly reminded you of your father, decided that everyone should take turns watching over your group as you all slept
Currently, it was your turn,
you find yourself leaning against the cold steel railing of the bed, your feet swinging softly going along with your steady breath
You don't mind the silence, it was a good break from the constant chaos, you didnt mean only in the games but also from real life
You always did prefer the silence anyways
"Oh y/n" followed by a stretched yawn, you watch as Dae ho sleepily crawled out from underneath the bed
"It's my turn now to watch over" he says despite his eyes still being closed shut and his speech languoress "you should get some rest"
A soft smile etched your face unconsciously upon seeing his drowsy state
You swear, you almost found the very sight cute
You shake your head softly "It's alright, i don't mind staying awake. I doubt I'd get any sleep anyway. You should rest"
Dae ho's eyebrows knitted upon hearing your words, immediately waking him up from his drowsiness
"Then I guess we'll both be staying awake" he props himself next to you, his signature grin on his face
This time your the one frowning, sighing as you insist the brawny man "Dae ho, seriously it's fine, you look sleepily anyway"
But this just seemed to make him even more stubborn as he shook his head, pieces of his long hair moving along with his head causing you to laugh softly, your hand covering your mouth
Dae ho lazily smiles back at you before the both of you nestle in the silence that surrounded the entire room
"You were amazing in today's game, i feel like i haven't mentioned it enough" you nudge his shoulder as you say, choosing to be the one ro break the silence
You half expect him to tell you that it's because hes a marine and marines can do everything but instead you find him with an uncharacteristic shy smile on his face
"I just played the game alot with my older sisters" he admitted in a rather bashfull manner
You nodd your head "you guys must be really close then?"
Dae ho nodds back without much comment, you take it as a sign that he might not like talking about them much
"Sorry" he awkwardly laughs "i know I'm usually not like this"
You raise your eyebrow
"I mean" he pauses before rubbing the back of his neck, you quickly note the way his t shirt sleeve pushed back, showing his arm muscle "im usually talkative and all. I usually don't like the silence but i guess i dont mind it when I'm with you"
You bite back the warmth that attempts to streak your face as you let out a soft hum
"I know you don't like talking alot" Dae ho says as he quickly takes a peek at your face "I've noticed that you keep to yourself most of the time"
He awkwardly chuckles, looking down "maybe you don't enjoy talking that much-"
"No-" your voice interrupts him, startling both you and him with your sudden interjection
Immediately his posture straightens as he whips his head towards you, his eyes locking into yours, almost desperate to hear what you have to say
"I don't mind" the words unwittingly tumble out your mouth before you could stop yourself
You notice Dae Ho's intense gaze which noted was unusualof him, his eyes fixated on you as he hangs on to your every word
Your clear your throat "I don't mind it too" you whisper softly "talking I mean"
Dae ho blinks, once, twice, before he shakes his head lightly as if though he was in a trance
"Right. Talking" he repeats your words while still rapidly blinking
You internally curse yourself, why do you always have to say things the wrong way?
"Yea..." your voice trails off and once again the both of you were surrounded by odd tranquility
You take a glance at Dae ho, his eyes up at the piggy bank of money that hanged on the ceiling. Your eyes follow his as you stare along at the stacks of paper
"What are you gonna do after all of this is over?" You whispered out of the silence to him
Dae ho realized you saw him staring at the money, before briefly looking back at you and then the money
"Pay off all my debts I guess" he said with a tight lipped smile
"No I mean" you tilt your head towards him "after that. I'm pretty sure your gonna have some money left"
Dae ho leaned behind as he wondered outloud "uhm"
He clicks tongue when he gets his answer "that's right! I've always wanted to open a cafe"
"A cafe?" You ask puzzled, that wasn't something you'd expect from a ex marine, that too someone like Dae ho
"that's right! In jeju" his eyes sparkled as he grinned ear to ear, speaking excitedly
"oh" He turns to you "and what about you? After paying your debts. What do you want to do?"
You think thoughtfully before you contemplate your answer
"I guess i wanna start my life over, maybe somewhere in an island"
Dae ho grins brightly when he hears your words "Hey! You should come with me then"
"What?" You ask slightly taken back at his sudden invite, you didnt think he considered you to be close enough for him to invite you to join him after all this was over
"Yea it's the perfect plan !!, you wanna start your life over in an island and i want a cafe in Jeju. Well isn't jeju a island? And the best one too!!"
You almost want to laugh at his childish demeanour but you don't, instead your grin matches his as you watch him continue
"Think about it, i'll open a cafe in jeju and you can help me run it"
"Can we adopt a pet dog?" You meekly ask
Dae ho's eyes widened as if though the very fact that you had to ask him made him feel offended "ah ofcourse!" His voice boisterous which caused you to shush him
"Sorry!" He whispers while turning over to look at the people sleeping, checking if anyone awoke.
You lean in towards him as he whispers "I mean- ofcourse. We can adopt as many dogs as you want"
"I guess I'll have to start picking names from now" you quip which made him beam
"Alright! It's settled then" he points at you "you, me, and our adopted dogs will open a cafe in jeju together. You can manage the cafe and I'll make coffee for our customers"
You watch as he smiles and talk animatically, suddenly feeling downcast, you can't help it when a feeling of dejection befalls your face.
You hope that Dae Ho doesn't notice but the look on his face says otherwise as he softens his voice "Hey, are you okay? Did I go to far?"
"No, you didnt" you say with a wistful smile "It's just, we don't know what's gonna happen next. I dont know whether I'll survive the next game or not"
You hear Dae Ho take in a deep breath before releasing a deep sigh "I guess you have a point there too"
"Sorry" you feel the urge to apologise "I ruined the mood-"
But Dae Ho intervenes your apology, he won't have you saying sorry, not to him
"I guess that just gives you more reason to stick around me huh?" He says playfully, he nudges your shoulder with his signature grin on his face "i'll make sure we get out of here together no matter what"
You snort, an attempt to hide your amusement but he catches on. He always did when it came to you
"Hey seriously!" he puts his hand in his chest when he begins reciting in a loud voice "I, Kang Dae Ho promise to take y/n l/n to jeju and open a cafe together"
You cover his mouth with your hand amidst your quiet giggles "people are sleeping silly" you scold him, despite your light tone and the smile on your face
Dae ho shuts up, but the twinkle in his eyes says otherwise
"Y/n" he whispers as he sticks out his pinky finger towards you "Promise me too"
"Promise you?"
"Promise me that when we get out of here, we'll both restart out lives in jeju"
You interlock your pinky with his, he noticed the spark in your eye
"And you'll open a cafe in jeju" you continue
Dae Ho's face lit up even more than before "and we'll adopt three dogs- no five dogs!"
He corrects himself while you stifle in your laughter
"I promise to help you run it" your voice soft and warm as both of your pinkies layed interlocked with one another
"Promise"
₊˚。⋆❆⋆。˚₊
The child's voice plays over the speaker as it sings the same song over again and again,
you've lost count for how many rounds this game has been going on, feeling dizzy on the spinning carousel as you feel Dae ho's tight grip on your wrist.
"Just one more time y/n" he insist to you over the blaring sound of the childish song "just one more time and this game would be over"
You nodd, unable to say anything as you sweat profusely, your heart beating rapidly
Dae ho takes in your silence as your answer as he gives you a quick nodd, turning over to look at gi hun and song il, letting go of your hand for a moment
Suddenly the carousel stops to a halt, you find yourself falling down harshly before you could even realise that it stopped
A feminine voice declares a number but your unable to coin what it was as your layed on the ground, only being able to hear the sound of people running and screaming
Dae ho looks around frantically, eyes widened when he realised your not next to him
"Y/n?" He mutters at first before he began shouting your name like a mad man
You scream his name too, but with no avail, as a hysterical crowd of people separated the both of you
Dae ho's eyes widen as his brows lift, he breaks away from jeong bae's grasp as he runs away from his team, searching for you in amidst the chaos
He doesn't realise the way his trembles or the way he stutters when he shouts your name, all he wants right now was you to be back at his side
He should have never let go of your hand
He runs around the room as he belts out your name as loud as he can, pushing people away, shouting at them while he asked whether they saw you or not
Suddenly he finds himself being pulled back by Young ill and Jeong Bae
"Wait! Wait! stop!" He screamed against their hold, thrashing and moving "y/n! They're still out there!" He hysterically screamed
Young ill gripped the younger man tightly as Jeong Bae pushed him into a room
"Time is running out, the count down has begun" jeong Bae attempts to appease to his junior who refuses to listen "im sure they'll be safe with others"
But there was an unexplainable feeling in the pits of Dae ho's stomach that says other wise. Every single cell in his body screamed at him, telling him that you weren't safe
He promised to be always by your side didn't he?
"Hyung please" he mumbled his words rapidly while clutching the arms of the two other men who held him back "hyung please! Let me go! let me go i need to find-"
Jeong Bae and Young ill push him into a room despite his refusal to enter, opposing his wishes
"Stop! Stop don't close the door" Dae ho pushes Young ill away from the door as he prys to keep it open "they're still out there-" he splutters
Young ill grabs Dae ho by the neck, putting him in a headlock while dragging him away from the door, urging jeong Bae to shut it
"The room is full" he mutters under his breath into Dae hos ear "do want all of us to die?'
"No! You dont understand" Dae ho splutters against the older man's hold, not paying attention to his words at all
"no let me go, i need y/n, i told them" Dae ho begs, his face getting red "I told them I'll protect them"
His breathing becomes more shallow and rapid when he hears the lock of the door, finally prying away from young ills grasp
He shakes his head as he tries opening the door which simply stood unmoving against his force
"No no no" he repeatedly muttered "no y/n" his sweaty palms trying to pull open the steel door while all the other two men in the room could do was look bleakly at him
"Dae ho... I'm sure they'll be safe wit-" jeong Bae words are cut short by a familiar defeaning shriek which causes Dae ho's face to pale
"Dae ho!" You scream his name as you pass by all the closed rooms, searching for him
Dae ho shouts your name back through the small hole in the door, exerting more force on trying to open the door
You press yourself to the door of the room Dae ho was in, only seeing his widened eyes
"Y/n! Y/n!" He shouted repeatedly while banging the door "Fuck the door isn't opening! Why won't the door open" he wailed while hitting the door
You whisper his name in between hiccups, your eyes filled with water as you watched him pry to open the door
"Please y/n" Dae ho sobbs "please" his breath shallow
You shake your head against the cold door "im sorry"
"Y/n?" Dae ho watches you horrified
"I'm so sorry Dae ho" you breathed out "I don't think I can come to jeju with you"
A loud bang, followed by even more shouting and screaming and more shooting could be heard
Dae ho watched as your eyes once which looked at him with joy was now lifeless and empty, he hears your body thud on the floor, he falls down along with you, body pressing to the door
Now, only the steel door being in the path of both of your bodies from being once again reunited
"Dae ho" you whisper from the other side of the door while he hears you take your last breath
"I would have loved opening a cafe with you in jeju"
Task Force 141 + what they'd do when you're unwell
creators note: ive been feeling unwell these past few days so im just trying to feed myself with his LMAO anyways i hope u all enjoy this
warnings: mentions of vomiting and drinking, swearing, reader nearly overdosing and having troubles with sleep :( not proofread!
Simon was probably already suspicious when he entered the house. You didn't greet him like you usually do.
He also did not spot you sitting down on the living room couch, so he thought that you were probably sleeping (though his brain was screaming at him to find you)
He just throws his bags aside and basically sprinted
The moment he entered your room to see you sleeping, he immediately relaxed
But after seeing the ungodly amount of bottle of pills on the nightstand? No.
He immediately went to look at them just to realize that you've been struggling with stress and lack of sleep
He softly shakes your shoulders to wake you up (he hopes you don't notice the way his fingers trembled)
"Love, please wake up. 'm home."
And if you don't wake up, he'll start being a bit rougher, squeezing your shoulder and frantically shaking them. His heart dropped.
"Wake up. Stop jokin' around, it's not bloody funny."
As soon as you wake up, his breath hitches and he pulls you into a tight embrace; the air in your lungs being squeezed out by the overwhelming pressure
Does not lecture you at this point, he's the one needing reassurance
"Christ, don't ever do that again, you 'ear me?"
He will take good care of you and would lecture you after he'd relaxed and cleaned you up
He'll shower with you, buy your favorite takeout, listen to the stories he'd missed during deployment, anything.
This moment will stick onto him like a curse. He won't ever forget about this and be more alert and observant around you, out of fear that you might overdose once again.
As he entered the house, he was greeted by the sound of you gagging
He froze up, the exhaustion leaving his body
He immediately sprinted to the bathroom and threw his bags aside
"Fuck, what's 'appening? Are you alright? You bloody hurt?"
You were on your knees, looking up at him with teary eyes, and just as you were about to reply, you vomited into the toilet
He would sink onto his knees with you, hands tangled in your hair as you continued to vomit into the toilet
He winced while watching you, brows furrowing as thoughts scattered in his mind
When you finished, he immediately scrambled back up and took a cup of warm water
He'll be asking you a lot of questions, and you won't be avoiding it. Well, you can't anyway
When he realized it's just a hangover from last night, he glares at you
"You shouldn't be drinkin' too much in the first place, love. You've got me worried to death."
Despite the lecturing, he is still worried
Expect him to carry you around like a sack of potatoes, you're not allowed to walk for now
He will be cuddling with you all day and night, don't worry, he'll keep you warm
He'll be cooking and providing you with all kinds of stuff too. Painkillers, food, snacks, anything.
"What do ya want to eat, sweet'eart? I'll cook for ya, don't worry."
He's just a worried gentleman. Don't drink too much next time, will you?
After entering the living room, his expression dropped when hearing you groan in your room.
He'll call you once or twice from the living room, patiently waiting for a reply.
"... Bonnie? Ye alrigh' up there?"
Literally does not waste any time when you answered with a grunt
Runs up the stairs like he'd been chased by zombies.
Knocks on your door softly before opening the door, peeking his head inside. His gaze was met with your back.
He enters your room with a worried expression, closing the door behind him before walking towards you, kneeling in front of you
He notices the unusual warmth radiating from your body as you frowned, a pout in your expression
His hand went up to press the back of his hand to your forehead, before pulling away with a small ach.
"Jesus fuckin' Christ, yer burnin', ye ken?"
"It's too cold here, Johnny..."
He is immediately more alert now, looking at you with a confused expression. How'd you get sick out of nowhere? You were just fine the other day.
"Wait 'ere, I'll get ye some water."
He walks out of your room in hurry before returning with a cup of warm water, paracetamol and a lukewarm washcloth.
He placed those items aside before his hands went to your sides, shifting you up.
"Up ye go. C'mon bonnie, yer gonna be jus' fine."
Sounds like he's trying to reassure himself more than you
Helps you drink the warm water slowly before handing you the paracetamol. He places them on the nightstand before laying you back down on the bed.
After placing the washcloth on your forehead, he crawls over to your side before embracing you in his arms, ignoring your protests of him getting sick because of you.
He ends up taking care of you until you're feeling better. He'll never leave your side and will get you anything you want.
Very worried after finding out you have a flu. He doesn't care if it's a small one, but he hides it surprisingly well
As soon as he returned home, he placed the bags on the couch neatly before walking to your room.
He already bought groceries and some of your favorite snacks.
Knocks on your door before entering your room with bags of your long-awaited snacks and gifts.
"Good mornin' love, how're you feelin' today, eh?"
He placed the items on your nightstand before grabbing the pills and a cup of water.
Helps you drink your medicine before placing them aside, his expression softening at your weakened state.
He crawls over to you, keeping his composure calm before laying on top of you; making sure that he doesn't crush you entirely.
He won't let you push him away, though he knows the risks of being around you when you're sick like this. He doesn't care, he'd been through worse, anyway. He's a soldier, sweetheart.
Tickles your neck with his beard when he's placing a few kisses on them
Whispers sweet words into your ear, softly holding you until you fall asleep.
"I'm 'ere, love. Don't worry, yeah? I'll take good care of you, you'll be safe with me."
His heart ached at soft sight of you. He won't ever let go of you and let you do things by yourself until you recover from this damned sickness.
Does everything else for you. Chores, cooking, groceries, etc. He loves you very much, :)
Dad Sukuna
•••
Genre: fluff
Warnings: none
Characters: Sukuna Ryomen x femreader
Notes: none
•••
“Sukuna I can walk on my own”
“Im aware. Though your pace aggravates me woman”
You are six months pregnant with your husbands baby. And currently being carried by him because apparently you were walking to slow for him. Which is understandable when you stomach looks likes its harboring a teenager.
You huff, crossing your arms over your chest as Sukuna carries you effortlessly in his strong arms. “You know, I don’t need to be carried everywhere.”
He barely spares you a glance, his expression unbothered. “And yet, here you are, being carried.”
You roll your eyes. “This is ridiculous. I’m pregnant, not dying.”
Sukuna smirks, adjusting his grip on you. “You’re waddling like a damn duck. I refuse to waste my time walking at a snail’s pace.”
Your eye twitches. “Maybe if someone wasn’t the size of a damn building, our baby wouldn’t be trying to take up so much space!”
He chuckles darkly, amused by your frustration. “Tch. You should be grateful you’re carrying my child. A blessing, really.”
“A blessing would be letting me walk, Sukuna.”
He ignores your protests, picking up the pace. “No point in arguing. You’ll only exhaust yourself, and I won’t have you tiring out my heir before they’re even born.”
You groan, leaning your head against his shoulder in defeat. “I swear, the moment this baby is out, I’m making you suffer.”
•••
Finally after a few more months the baby out. You decided on the name Yuji. Little Yuji lies in your arms his big eyes staring back at you as you happily cradle him though a little tired from the birthing process. After being kicked out for making a few comments that got on your nerves Sukuna comes back into the room.
Sukuna makes his way to the side of your bed staring down at the small bundle in your arms with a unreadable look. You glance up at him before breaking the silence.
“Would you like to hold him Sukuna?”
Sukuna doesn’t answer right away, his gaze locked onto the tiny baby in your arms. His expression is unreadable his usual arrogance is absent, replaced with something more subdued. You watch him carefully, waiting for some kind of reaction.
After a moment, he exhales through his nose, his crimson eyes flickering up to meet yours. “Tch. I suppose,” he mutters, as if it’s a hassle, but the way he carefully lowers himself onto the edge of the bed tells a different story.
You gently guide Yuji into his arms, watching as Sukuna cradles him with more care than you’d expected. His large hands, usually so destructive, are surprisingly gentle as they support Yuji’s tiny body. The baby blinks up at him, squirming slightly but not crying.
Sukuna stares at his son in silence. His jaw tightens, and for a moment, you think he might scoff or make some snide remark. Instead, he runs a single finger along Yuji’s soft cheek, his touch featherlight. “Hmph. He’s small,” he finally says.
You chuckle, resting back against the pillows. “Well, he was just born, Sukuna. He’s not going to come out looking like you right away.”
He huffs, his gaze never leaving Yuji. “He should. He’s my son.”
You roll your eyes. “Our son,” you correct, but you can’t help the warmth that fills you at the sight before you. Sukuna Ryomen, the King of Curses holding his newborn child, staring at him like he’s something precious.
Yuji lets out a small yawn, his tiny hand twitching as if trying to grasp something. Sukuna instinctively moves his finger closer, and Yuji’s little fingers wrap around it. A flicker of surprise crosses Sukuna’s face before it quickly vanishes.
You smile softly. “He already likes you.”
Sukuna scoffs, but there’s no bite to it. “Of course he does. He should.”
Despite his words, he continues to hold Yuji, his usual sharp edges dulled by something quieter—something almost gentle.
•••
Taking care of a child proved to be more than Sukuna expected.
“Why does this thing reek?”
Sukuna’s face is slightly scrunched in disgust as he holds an giggling baby Yuji upside down by his leg away from him. His hands reaching out for Sukuna who only narrows his eyes at him.
You look up from your plate of food and to him. “Sukuna don't call Yuji a ‘thing’ or hold him like that. And he probably just pooped.” you reply beofre shoveling some food in your mouth.
Sukuna clicks his tongue, clearly unimpressed with this whole ordeal. “Tch, how do you tolerate this? Its disgusting.”
Yuji only giggles louder, completely unbothered by the fact that his father is holding him upside down like a piece of meat. His tiny hands wave in the air, reaching toward Sukuna as if he actually likes being dangled like this.
You sigh, setting your bowl down and wiping your mouth before standing up. “Sukuna, put him down properly before I make you change his diaper.”
His eyes snap to you, sharp and unimpressed. “You expect me to deal with this filth?”
“You’re his father.” You cross your arms, raising a brow. “You helped make him. You can help take care of him.”
Sukuna narrows his eyes at you, as if gauging whether you’re actually serious. Then, with a huff, he flips Yuji right-side up and not so gently plops him into your arms. “Your problem now,” he grumbles, crossing his arms and looking away.
Yuji, still giggling, clings to you happily, his little hands patting your face. You roll your eyes at Sukuna’s theatrics. “You’re going to have to change his diaper eventually, you know.”
“Hah! Over my dead body.”
You smirk. “Well, he is your son. He’s only going to get bigger and stinkier.” Sukuna glares at you, then at Yuji, who gurgles at him with far too much joy for a baby who just got insulted. “…Hah. No. I’ll leave that to you.”
“Coward.” You shake your head, walking off to change Yuji while Sukuna scoffs behind you.
•••
“Ma-ma”
“Cmon Yuji, Mama”
You hold Yuji in your lap. He stares curiously up at you with a small head tilt before lightly giggling. You let out a small sigh after still failing to get something out of him. Sukuna looks over at you from his throne his brow slightly raised.
“What the hell are you doing?”
His sudden voice cutting through the air catches your attention your head turns to him. “Im trying to get him to speak.” you stand up holding Yuji against you and make your way closer to him. Sukuna scoffs at your words.
“He’s like what? One or some shit the brat hardly has any teeth”
You roll your eyes at your husband's reply. “Yeah but you can still try and get him to say his first word. And I want it to be ‘mama” Sukuna leans back, resting his chin on his palm as he watches you with mild amusement. “Hah. And you think repeating it over and over will make it happen?”
You huff, adjusting Yuji in your arms. “It’s called encouraging him.”
Yuji babbles, little fingers gripping onto your shirt as he looks between you and Sukuna. His big eyes shine with curiosity, as if he’s enjoying the attention. Sukuna scoffs, waving a lazy hand. “You’re wasting your time. If he says anything first, it’ll be father.”
Your eyes narrow. “Like hell it will.”
Sukuna smirks, taking that as a challenge. He holds out his arms. “Give him here.”
You hesitate but eventually pass Yuji over. The baby settles comfortably in his father’s arms, staring up at him with that same fascinated look.
Sukuna taps a clawed finger against Yuji’s chubby cheek. “Oi, brat. Say father.”
Yuji blinks. Then, with a small giggle, he happily chirps—
“Ma-ma!”
You beam. “Yes! See? He loves me more.”
Sukuna’s smirk immediately drops, replaced with an irritated scowl. “Tch. That was just a random sound.”
Yuji, as if to prove him wrong, claps his tiny hands and repeats, “Mama! Mama!”
Your grin only widens. “Face it, Sukuna. He picked me first.”
Sukuna stares down at Yuji, expression unreadable before he sighs, muttering, “…Ungrateful little brat.”
Yuji only giggles louder, reaching up to tug at his father’s cheek. Sukuna doesn’t push him away, but he does shoot you a glare when you start laughing.
“Yeah, yeah. King of Curses, defeated by a baby. How tragic.”
Sukuna grumbles under his breath, clearly annoyed. But when Yuji snuggles against his chest, still babbling mama, he doesn’t shove him off. Instead, his hand rests over Yuji’s back,
Even if he won’t admit it, he doesn’t seem to mind losing this time.
Cherry Bomb - tattoo parlor anthology
MDNI | poly 141 x fem fat reader | masterlist
cw: menstruation (not graphic), afab anatomy
Part 4: “Girl Problems”
You shift in the office chair, stomach lurching uncomfortably. It’s been bothering you today - groaning and moaning nonstop. So far you blamed it on the suspicious chicken salad you got from the discount grocery store. You took every stomach soother you could, all the way down to chugging tea on the hottest day of spring so far.
With a rather pathetic groan you stand to meander your way to the bathroom. Surely sitting on the pot will help - at least as a placebo. Just as you do, though, a very distinct wet feeling makes itself known. You freeze, briefly, as if it will go away if you stand still enough.
“Ah, fuck!” You gasp, grabbing your purse and jogging down the hall to the single bath stall and popping the lock shut.
As soon as you sit, you let out a small sigh of relief. At least you caught it before you turned your underwear into a total crime scene. You’d rather not have to explain to John why you need to go home and change. You dig through your bag to your usual pocket of various supplies. From lotion to a sewing kit. It never hurts to be prepared.
Except, as you rifle around, you’re not finding your usual stash. There should be at least three in here… when did-?
The very loud, distinct memory of a girl at a bar stopping you while canvassing for some sanitary products hits you like a train.
“Whatever you’ve got I’ll take.” She practically begged. So, you handed them all over because got forbid someone get stranded during the most hellish week of the month. Like you are now.
You make a deep, frustrated noise in your throat and bury your face in your hands. You’ve been meaning to put a basket of backup wipes, pads, and tampons in the little bathroom cabinet - not just for you but for customers, too. It just kept getting pushed off when you got busy with other things.
Shit. What are you gonna do? If you put your pants back on you’ll just bleed through them in ten minutes. Cursed with a heavy flow (or blessed with a strong connection to the moon, as your former hippie roommate insisted.) Less time than that, probably, based on the vicious cramp that travels from your lower back to pelvis. You won’t be able to get to the corner store with out leaving a war crime in your path.
John’s the only person in the studio right now. He doesn’t have a client for another hour or so but you’d rather die than tell your hot boss you’re bleeding everywhere. For a few, quiet moments, you violently bounce your knee and go through every possibility. Maybe you’ll suddenly turn into the flash and you can get home before anyone even notices. You don’t really have much of a choice, do you?
With another groan you pull your phone from your pocket, thumb hovering over his contact for just a few beats too long while you work up the courage.
>> ok so this is terrible
>> im so sorry
>> but im having girl problems and am stuck in the bathroom
>> im so sorry this is so unprofessional
Girl problems? What are you? In fucking middle school? Before you can send yet another in a long string of planned apologies, John answers.
J >> How can I help?
>> i dont have any products on me
>> meant to stock the bathroom
>> sorry
J >> Stop apologizing
J >> What kind do you use? I’ll go to the corner store up the street
You breathe out a sigh of relief, still nervously gnawing at your lip as you send him what you need with an example picture (just in case) and profusely insist you’ll pay him back. John refuses. You’ll just have to sneak the cash in his tips or something.
It isn’t long before you hear the front doorbell ring, heavy footsteps, then a gentle tap on the bathroom door. “Y’alright, love?”
You perk up. “John, I’m so sorry-“
“Didn’t ask if you were sorry. Asked if you were alright.”
You snort. “Yeah…”
“I’m goin’ to unlock the door to slide these in. No lookin’ I swear.” John says. As if you were worried about that. You trust John. More than maybe any other man you’ve known (not that the bar is very high.) It’s nice of him to say, though. The door barely cracks open, just enough for him to toss the box to you across the floor and shut it immediately. You barely even see his arm. “That all you need?”
“Yeah. Thanks.” You murmur, bending awkwardly and snatching up the box. “I’m really sorry. I know it’s not really… appropriate.”
“Love, it’s normal. It happens. Just get y’self situated.” John taps the door once before you hear his footsteps drift down the hall toward the front.
You feel a bit skittish the rest of the day. You know it’s stupid. John’s a grown man and it’s a natural thing that happens and it’s fine. He said it’s fine. If it wasn’t fine you probably wouldn’t still look up to him the way that you do - the way that you have since you came here. The way everyone else seems to. Even so, you step around him a little wider than usual on your way out - keeping your head hung low and both hands tightly gripping your purse.
You chew your lip, shifting in place as he locks the front door. “Look, John, I-“
“If you apologize again I’m gonna fire you.” John mutters, pulling on the door to make sure it’s properly secured. There’s humor in it, though, the corners of his lips quirked up slightly.
You scoff, still not quite able to meet his eye.
“Sweetheart, look at me.” When you don’t move fast enough, apparently, he tilts your head up with a light touch. His eyes are so warm despite their icy blue shade. Sparkly in the setting sun. “Any man worth his breath wouldn’t give a shite. I’m sorry if that hasn’t been your experience, but really, it’s fine. I’ll help you out a thousand times over if y’need.”
“Okay…” You murmur, suddenly very distracted by the feeling of his fingers touching your chin, light as is it. You pull away and clear your throat, hoping he doesn’t notice the growing heat in your cheeks. “Well, uh, see you tomorrow, then.”
John nods, still smiling. “Sleep well, dove.”
When you come in the next day, you expect to get teased. A snide comment or a sideways look. You would have at any other job you’d worked - especially one with all men. All giggling and poking at you like a bear they know can’t bite back. No one says a thing outside of their usual greetings when you make your way to the front desk, though. Johnny pinches your hip like normal, Simon greets you with his new pun of the day, Kyle gives you a distracted wave over the hum of his practice gun. John doesn’t bat an eye when he says hello and checks in about the plan for the day.
You open the bottom drawer that you usually tuck your purse into, pausing before you set it inside. At the bottom, neatly tied together with a piece of twine, sits a king size chocolate bar and a pack of Midol.
If John notices the way you become extra smiley after that discovery, he doesn’t comment.
A/N: This was very self-indulgent but I’m having a bad time over here and need to be saved.
i made a promise, to distance myself
A boy who kept his feelings locked away and someone who wore their heart on their sleeve. When he walked away, it was without warning, without reason. And they refused to wait for an explanation. Now few months later, forced to work together on a project neither can escape, old wounds resurface. Silence turns into stolen glances, resentments bleeds into something dangerously familiar, and the past refuses to stay buried.
Genre: fluff, angst, exs to lovers, el oh el.
warnings: swearing, isaac newton mentioned, could be sad ig (?), i can't think of anything else
a/n: im back from the dead, recently fell under a moving car and got dumped el oh el, some parts in here are inspo by like my actual life, i have a list of all the similarities if anyone is curiosu at the end of the story. basically wake up from a dream where me and my ex got back together and wrote this.
wc: 9.6k (longest fic ever el oh el)
Jumping off a flight of stairs was probably not the best idea, but it was the only thing you could think of at the moment.
Reluctantly moving down the stairs and following the loud clunk sounds of your stupid bright neon green water bottle. Books and papers of drawings and blueprints that won't fit into your messenger bag without getting damaged. Maybe you should’ve listened to when people said getting a regular backpack was much more convenient than the bag you had now, but it was much more fashionable.
Landing at the bottom of the staircase, take a moment to breathe and prepare yourself for having to go back up five flights of stairs to get to class. Because even though the school is one of the prestigious in the country, they refuse to have any sort of elevators to ruin their “dark academic” aesthetic of the building.
Eyes traveling on the old cobbled stoned flooring, trying to locate a neo-coded water bottle, your mother insisted on getting since she read somewhere green is this year's lucky colour. Probably found in some ridiculous article, really got to get her off social media.
Bright neon green slipped through your peripheral vision, turning to face the still rolling bottle and walking towards it before it makes you late for your next class. It stops in front of a pair of solid black shoes, one that looks all too familiar. The figure stops at the feeling of the ratchet bottle that wants to ruin your day even more than it already has.
A recognizable pale hand, with a silver ring on the index, hesitantly drops down to pick up the bottle that led you down a path to the literal pits of hell for you. Eyes not dare looking up from the ground, taking your somewhat free hand and extending out your pinky to the now stranger you have a bitter taste in your mouth everytime you come near. Once the feeling of your pinky is weighted down by the feeling of the water bottle’s hook, you take off up the stairs with energy that you didn’t think you had anymore left of, as it’s your third time climbing these stairs in the past ten minutes.
Not a care in the world if a stranger walks by and deem you as a rude bastard who can’t even say thank you, because you can;t even say a word to the “nice stranger” who handed you your water bottle. All you can do around him now is just run and avoid. That’s what you continue to do until you reach your class, probably looking a little weird as you were also cursing at your bottle and gravity, mainly isaac newton, he’s usually the bane of all your problems lately, besides the man you used to call yours.
—
His friends would sometimes joke to him that the world is too fast for him at times, usually when he doesn’t get a joke right away or for him zoning out, especially as it has been worse in these past few months.
But that happened so fast, he has no idea what to do, or how to react but just to stare at your figure rushing up the stairs. Sunghoon’s jaw tightens as you fade away up the many flights of stairs. Acting like he is some contagious virus, even afraid to touch him, much less look at him.
He would remember when their friend group was still intact and when they would all hang out, how sometimes the gang would get too overwhelming, even from the other side of the room you would catch his eye and always give him a comforting smile. And the simple eye contact with one another, while the world moves along around them.
But he had lost that with you and it’s all his fault.
—
Taking a little break from the assignment in front of you to angrily tap on your phone so the ads on your music app stop, knowing you aren’t really actually doing anything to get rid of them unless you become one of the apps victims and pay for music. But your stubbornness and being broke, so aggressively hitting your phone is your next best solution.
The little silence after the ad is finally done and the next song is about to start, you can hear a mechanical pencil roll off of a desk. A quiet clatter could barely be noticed in the slight hum of the library. You didn’t hear it at first, the angry high you had because of the ad made you lock out of concentrating from your work— until you noticed the hand reaching for it making you pause.
Long pale fingers. A silver ring on the index.
You know those hands, it's your second time seeing them in… you weren’t too sure the last time you saw those hands when they were wrapped around your water bottle. All you knew was that you were seeing those hands much sooner than you needed to.
Those hands, you remember the weight of those hands in yours, the way they used to hold your face and caress your cheek, the way they tug at your sleeves on your sweater absentmindedly.
And you recognize the pencil.
It’s yours.
Not exactly, but you did buy that pencil.
Something in you starts feeling nauseous, or light-headed, you couldn’t really figure out in the moment because without thinking, you reach out and yank that pencil right out of his grip.
Maybe you shouldn’t have done that, because now that gross boy opened his mouth, but you didn’t care.
Sunghoon blinks. “Hey did you just—”
Whenever you were bored in class you would always do fun pencil tricks and even taught him how to do some with this said pencil in your hands.
Spinning the pencil around, inspecting it with feigned interest, not caring about the boy next to you with his mouth open like a fish staring at you. “Huh. I forgot how nice this pencil was.”
Now his mouth is close as he clenches his jaw, his stare sharpening. “You can’t be serious.”
Finally turning your head to look at him, trying to maintain the emotions on your face. Instead of saying something you might end up regretting, in the fear of sounding cringe, you just shrug.
“Give it back.”
“Why?” Resting your chin on your hand. “It’s mine.”
He exhales sharply, the kind of exasperated breath he used to let out when you teased for taking things too seriously. Except now there’s a little bit of an edge to everything.
“You gave it to me.”
You tilt your head “Did I?”
You weren’t sure if he could clench his jaw any harder, but somehow he does. “Yeah. You did.”
Your grip on the pencil tightens. You can’t say you remember everything that was said the night of the break up, but you remember the way you felt, the way he left without explanation— like he couldn’t bear to stay with you any second longer. As if he couldn’t stand to hold on to something that was already slipping away.
He didn’t even let you have a say, you didn’t get the chance to do anything, not even fight for what was yours then.
So now you hold on to that damn pencil.
“Well,” you say, voice light, “technically, it was mine first.”
Sunghoon lets out a humorless laugh, one you don’t recognize in this fever dream daze of nostalgia. Leaning against the table, he’s close now, closer than you could've prepared for. You hate the way your heart stumbles over itself at the lack of distance, at the way he still smells the same— like something clean and sharp, a little cologne you had bought him about a year ago for his birthday.
His voice drops an octave. “You’re seriously pulling this shit?”
Shrugging again, simply just pulling a stare you hope doesn’t reveal how fast your heart is beating stupidly like it used to.
He watches you for a long second, his brown eyes scanning your face like he’s trying to figure out what type of game you were playing. But then, not arguing, instead of pushing back, he just exhales softly.
“Fine,” he mutters, “Keep it.”
And then, right before he turns away— so quiet you almost think you had imagined it—
“It suits you better anyways.”
You blink.
Before you could say anything, maybe asking what the fuck he meant by what he said, he’s already walking off. Leaving you with a mechanical pencil in your hands and this time you watching him as he walks away, with a taste of words you don’t quite understand.
—
Two year ago
Rain pitter patters against the windows, a dull hum in the background in the near-empty classroom. It’s late— too late for anyone to be here— you didn’t care, you were too stubborn. Chewing on your nail, brows furrowed in concentration as you glare at your notebook, completely oblivious to the fact that Sunghoon hasn’t turned a page in the last ten minutes.
He should be focusing. He should be running through formulas in his head, thinking about the test tomorrow, or at the very least be pretending to be studying. Instead, he’s watching you— watching the way you puff out your cheeks when you stop understanding what you were just doing, the way you spin the pencil in your hand absentmindedly, the way you whisper to yourself while doing each exercise when you think no one’s listening.
You’re always like this– loud without meaning to be, pulling attention without even trying.
He should’ve known sooner. That you were dangerous in the kind of way that crept up on him, slipping past his defenses before he had the chance to stop it.
“Sunghoon.”
Your voice snaps him back to reality, he straightens, forcing his face into something neutral. “What?”
Pushing your notebook towards him, sighing dramatically. “Did you do this one yet? I don’t know if I did it correctly.”
He glances at your notebook, eyes widening a little, as to the most he could see on the page was a bunch of scribbles and some incoherent formulas and calculation. Having a hard time reading it , before shifting his chair closer. You don’t think twice about it when your shoulders brush. You never do.
But he does.
He always does.
“Is this your answer, at the corner?” he asks, taking your pencil without thinking, to circle the little number at the bottom of the page. Your fingers graze for a second, and he wonders if you feel the static the way he does. Probably not. You’d pull away if you did.
He attempted to go over your work, commenting on what you have written in a voice that’s much steadier than he feels. You nod along, resting your chin on your hand, eye flickering between his face and page.
“I hate Isaac Newton and that stupid apple.” you grumble.
Sunghoon huffs a quiet laugh shaking his head. “You just overthink everything.”
You groan. “I wish that apple killed that stupid white man.”
He watches as you bury your head in your arms on the table, tapping your forehead lightly with the end of the pencil before setting it back down. “Just stop overthinking and wishing death upon an already dead man.”
Lifting your head, you blink at him, lips parting like you want to argue, but for a brief moment, something passes between the two of you— something neither of you have a name for yet.
And then you roll your eyes, reaching for your notebook. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever, idiot.”
Sunghoon watches as you turn your pages to start a new question, completely unaware of the way his fingers twitch against his knee, resisting the urge to brush a stray strand of hair from your face.
Yeah.
He’s in trouble.
—
A few months ago
The night air is cold, but not as cold as the space between you.
Your arms are crossed. His hands are shoved into his pockets.
A street light flickers overhead. A car passes in the distance.
Sunghoon exhales, steadying himself.
Then. before he can stop it— before he can think too hard about what he’s about to lose—
“I think we should break up.”
Silence.
The kind that swallows everything whole.
Your lips part, but no words come out.
Your lips part, but no words come out.
The look in your eyes— confusion, disbelief, then something else, something that burns—
“What-Why?”
He doesn’t answer. Or maybe he does, but it’s not the right thing.
It’s never the right thing.
The air is heavy, thick with things neither of you are saying.
Then, finally— your voice, quieter this time.
“Okay.”
A single step back. Then another.
And then—
Nothing.
—
The classroom hums with chatter, students moving around and the teacher speaking about some project, but you were barely listening. Your attention is elsewhere— on your notebook, on the scratches of pen against paper, literally anything but him.
He was two rows ahead, resting his chin on his hand, half-focused on his laptop. Almost similar to you right now. Too similar.
You don’t look at him. You don’t let yourself.
But then—
“For the project, you’ll be working in pairs.”
There is a ripple of movement through the room, students glancing around already choosing their partners.
“I’ve assigned them to you.”
Your stomach twists.
You sit a little straighter. Your fingers tighten around your pen.
The professor starts listing off names. One by one, students find their partner. You’re holding your breath, waiting for—
And then—
Your name.
And then, immediately after—
His.
You freeze.
The room suddenly feels too small, the air too thick.
Someone nudges your arm, murmuring something about how lucky you are since you get to work with the “hottest guy on campus”, but their voice is distant, muffled by the sound of blood rushing in your ears.
Slowly, hesitantly, you lift your gaze.
Sunghoon had turned in his seat.
For the first time in months, you’re looking at each other.
And the worst part? He doesn’t even look surprised.
—
Sunghoon doesn’t hear from you for the rest of the day.
Not a text, not a call— nothing.
And the, at exactly 11:51 pm., an email lands in his inbox.
Subject: Project Task
From: [email protected]
Attached is the project outline. I’ve divided the tasks. I’ll handle the structural analysis and concept sketches. You can do the mechanical components. Tell me when you are done.
Sent from my phone
That’s it. No greeting. No unnecessary words. Not even your name.
Sunghoon exhales through his nose, clicking open the file. You’ve already set up everything— titles, labels, even deadlines. You’ve practically built a wall of professionalism between you, as if you were never anything but classmates.
And it pisses him off.
Fine. two can play this game.
He types a reply, short and to the point.
Subject: Re: Project Tasks
Got it.
He doesn’t hit send.
His fingers hover over the keyboard. His jaw clenches.
Then, in a moment of stubborn impulse, he types—
You can’t avoid me forever.
And hits send before he can take it back.
—
“You know, he’s right.”
You shoot a glare over at Sunoo. “Don’t start.”
“I’m just saying,” he continued, kicking his feet up on the bench. “You can’t ignore him forever.”
“I can, actually.” you sip your matcha pointedly. “It’s called email.”
He snorts. “You sound like a middle-aged professor.”
“Good. Maybe he’ll leave me alone then.”
Sunoo raises an eyebrow. “He literally told you, ‘You can’t avoid me forever.’”
You roll your eyes. “Yeah, and? I don’t care.”
The words are barely out of your mouth when Sunoo suddenly stiffens, eyes darting over your shoulder.
“Uh—”
You don’t even have to ask. You just know.
There’s a familiar shift to the air, an awareness pressing down on your skin.
And then, just to confirm it—
“Shit,” Sunoo mutters. “He’s down the hall.”
You don’t think. You just move.
Your hands shoot out, gripping his sleeve as you drag them down the corridor.
“Are you serious?!” he hiss between stumbling steps.
“Shut up, shut up , shut up—”
“Please can we stop running, I don’t think he would be chasing us down for sport.”
You don’t care. You don’t turn around because you know if you do, you’ll see Sunghoon standing there, staring after you, that unreadable look on his face.
And you are not giving him that satisfaction.
Not today.
—
Staring at your laptop screen, fingers hovering over the keyboard, the flashing cursor blinking back at you in defiance. You’ve been avoiding this email for days— every time you think about it your stomach churns, and you mind races with excuses.
You don’t want to deal with him. Not now. Not ever again.
The project, the meeting, the unavoidable tension. You had hoped, foolishly, that you could really just avoid Sunghoon completely— keep everything strictly professional, send email, handle the assignment without having to face him in person. But that plan was crushed the moment the email landed in your inbox, his name in bold.
“Let’s meet in person tomorrow to go over the project. I’ll bring the drafts.”
Of course, Sunghoon had to take the initiative. You had a suspicion he’d never let you hide behind your screen forever. He was stubborn, too, in a way that always seemed to get under your skin.
You arrived at the library, dragging your feet, already feeling the weight of the situation settle in your chest. The project was an assignment, but the real challenge was having to sit across from him, pretending that nothing had happened, pretending that the last year— no, the last months— hadn’t been a whirlwind of frustration and heartache.
But here you were, faced with reality. You walked into the library, hoping to avoid eye contact, but you couldn’t escape the familiar sight of him sitting at a table with all his papers neatly organized, a slight form on his face as he scanned the documents.
His eyes flicked up when he saw you enter, and for a second, your heart skipped a beat. But you force yourself to remain calm. He was just a classmate now, just another part of your academic routine. Nothing more.
You set your things down at the table across from him, pulling your laptop out with the practiced motions of someone who had done this a thousand times before. You weren;t going to make this more personal than it had to be. No small talk. No catching up. Just the project.
“Hey,” Sunghoon greeted, his voice neutral but carrying the weight of something unsaid. He glanced at the papers in front of you and then back to you. “Are you okay with everything so far? I made some revisions to the outline.”
You didn;t look at him. Instead, you glanced at the project papers and began sorting through them, avoiding his gaze entirely. “I’ll read them over later. Just… let’s focus on getting it done.”
You felt his eyes on you, the tension palpable in the air, but you refused to acknowledge it. You had your own part to do, your own work to focus on. Nothing else mattered right now. The project was the only thing that mattered.
—
Sunghoon sighed, and you could hear the edge of frustration creeping into his voice. “Look, I know this isn;t easy for either of us, but we’re stuck with each other for this project. We might as well get it done right.”
“I’m not here to talk,” you snapped back, the words sharp and defensive. “Just focus on your part. I’ll handle mine.”
His expression hardened , but he didn’t push it any further. He opened up his own laptop and began typing, the sound of the keyboard tapping filling the silence between the both of you.
For a while, it was quiet— just the sound of typing, rustling of papers. But no matter how hard you tried to focus, you couldn;’t shake the nagging feeling that he was watching you. His presence was like a shadow that followed your every move you made, and you hated how it made your chest tighten. You shouldn’t feel like this. You had no reason to. This wasn’t supposed to be personal. It was just a project.
But then, suddenly, Sunghoon spoke again, his voice quieter, almost reluctant.
“You know,” he said, voice low but insistent, “we used to work well together. Back in high school. Why are you making this harder than it has to be?”
You froze, your fingers still on the keyboard. You could feel the old pain creep up your throat, but you swallowed it down, shoving it away. No. Don’t go there.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you said, your voice steady but with a hint of something you don’t want to put a name to. And then, with a sigh, he turned his attention back to his laptop, typing in silence for a long time.
—
Two year ago
It had been a late night at the library, the kind where the air felt thick with concentration and the promise of deadlines hanging over every student in the building. You were sitting at the same table as Sunghoon, both of you buried in textbooks, trying to get ahead before the weekend.
It was supposed to be just another study session, but something felt different. Maybe it was the way the soft overhead lights cast shadows over his features or how the silence between you two wasn’t awkward but comfortable. You couldn’t help it— his face was so focused, his lips slightly pursed in concentration, and for some reason, the sight of him studying like that made your heart skip.
“Is there something on my face?” he asked, his voice teasing but gentle.
You blinked and quickly looked away, flustered. “No … it’s just, you look… nice when you study.”
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. He leaned forward slightly, his voice lower than usual. “Nice, huh? That’s a first.”
You wanted to curl up and die from embarrassment, but instead you found yourself smiling despite the heat in your cheeks. Something about being with him felt so easy, so natural.
And then, before you could stop yourself, the words slipped out. “You look… pretty. When you study.”
There was a long pause, and then Sunghoon chuckled, his smile widening. “Pretty, huh? Well, that’s new.”
You couldn’t help it. You laughed too, the awkwardness melting away in the warmth of his gaze. That moment— when you both realized that maybe there was something more there— was when it all started.
—
The silence in the library stretches again. You go back to your laptop, trying to focus on the work in front of you. But the memory of that moment, of those words you’d said so long ago, hangs in the air like a ghost.
Sunghoon’s presence is undeniable now. Every time his shoulder brushes against yours as he reaches for his drink, it feels like a jolt of electricity. You grit your teeth, forcing yourself to keep working, to ignore the way his proximity makes your heart race.
“You know, if we just worked together instead of pretending we’re strangers, this would be a lot easier,” Sunghoon says again, his voice a little more insistent now, but still carrying that gentle tone.
You refuse to look up, clenching your jaw. “Just finish your part. I’ll finish mine.”
“I’ve always liked how stubborn you are,” he mutters, but there’s a soft fondness behind the words. “But you’re going to make this harder than it has to be, aren’t you?”
You bite your lip, fighting the urge to snap back. But the reality is that he’s right. You are making this harder. You’re making everything harder by refusing to acknowledge how much you still feel for him.
But you can’t admit that, not now, not when the walls between you two are so high, so insurmountable.
—
It’s late—too late for anyone to be at the library anymore. The harsh overhead lights flicker in the empty room, casting long shadows on the tables where students usually sat, buried in their books. But not you. You’re still here, alone, a stack of textbooks and papers spread out before you. The hum of the fluorescent lights fills the air, broken only by the soft tapping of your fingers on the keyboard.
You’ve been here for hours, the deadline looming closer with every passing second. Your mind is tired, but you won’t leave until you finish. It’s like a race against time. A way to distract yourself from everything else.
But then, you feel it. A presence.
You look up, and there’s Sunghoon, standing by the entrance, his gaze scanning the room. You immediately look away, pretending you hadn’t seen him. Why is he here? You weren’t supposed to see him, not tonight.
He walks toward you slowly, his footsteps soft but deliberate. You keep your eyes down, focused on the papers in front of you, but you can feel him getting closer.
“You’re still here?” Sunghoon says, his voice low, like he’s not sure what to make of the situation.
You sigh, unwilling to make this a conversation. “I’m working. Is that a problem?”
“No,” he answers quickly, but there’s a softness to his tone now. Something gentler. “Just... thought you’d left by now.”
You don’t look up, but you hear him pull out the chair opposite you. He sits down, but doesn’t speak immediately. You don’t say anything either. It’s awkward. You try to focus on the work in front of you, trying to ignore the feeling of his presence, so close but still so far away.
You keep your head down, but the longer you stay in the silence, the more you feel the walls you’ve built start to crumble, piece by piece. He doesn’t push you. Doesn’t force a conversation. He just... stays.
You try not to think too much about it. It’s just Sunghoon. Just a classmate.
But then, hours later, you’re blinking, your head feeling heavy as you try to focus on the screen in front of you. You hadn’t realized how tired you were until your eyelids started to flutter. You hadn’t meant to fall asleep, but the exhaustion catches up with you.
You don’t even realize you’ve nodded off until you’re suddenly jerked awake, your head jerking up from the desk. The library is quiet, almost too quiet, and the light from the desk lamp casts a soft glow around the room. That’s when you notice it.
A jacket—dark, heavy, and familiar—draped over your shoulders.
You blink, still groggy from sleep, and turn to see that Sunghoon is gone, his chair empty. You try to shake the fogginess from your mind, but there’s no denying it: He left his jacket with you.
You didn’t hear him come back. Didn’t feel him approaching. But somehow, he’d slipped it onto you while you were asleep, without a sound.
You sit there for a moment, the jacket still warm against your skin. His scent clings to it, and you find yourself unable to take it off. It feels wrong to just leave it behind, but you’re not sure why it feels so important to keep it on.
You look down at your own hands, your fingers grazing the sleeve, feeling the weight of the jacket, both literally and emotionally. You’re not sure if it’s the jacket that’s weighing on you or the memories that come with it. But it’s there. And so is he.
You stay there for a few more minutes, just sitting in the quiet, knowing that it would be impossible to get anything more done tonight. You pack up your things, but you don’t take off the jacket. Instead, you walk out of the library with it on, your heart a little heavier than when you came in.
—
It was dark outside, and the bus was filled with the soft chatter of your classmates. You and Sunghoon were sitting in the same seat, your shoulders brushing as you both leaned against the window, tired from the day’s activities.
You’d always been close, never quite aware of how it felt to have someone just be there with you. But that day, there was something different about it. It was like you both had settled into this quiet rhythm—comfortable, easy.
You leaned your head against the window, gazing out at the passing lights. The bus was warm, and your eyes were starting to grow heavy from the day’s exhaustion. Without realizing it, you drifted off, your head slipping onto Sunghoon’s shoulder.
He didn’t immediately pull away, didn’t complain. He just let you sleep, his body slightly tensing at the sudden closeness, but not enough to push you away.
And when you woke up, it wasn’t awkward. You just rubbed your eyes, looked up at him, and smiled.
“You’re comfy,” you murmured.
Sunghoon chuckled softly. “You really just fell asleep on me, huh?”
You laughed, feeling a warmth in your chest. “It’s not like I did it on purpose. I didn’t even realize.”
And even though it had only been a few seconds, you both lingered in that moment, your eyes meeting briefly before he gave you a smile that made your heart flutter.
You’d brushed it off as nothing—just a friendly gesture.
—
You’re still sitting in your room, the jacket still on your shoulders. It feels like a weight, not because it’s heavy, but because of the memories it brings. The warmth lingers on your skin, but so does the uncertainty. You can’t figure out why this is bothering you so much.
Your phone buzzes on the table, pulling you from your thoughts. A new email. You don’t need to look at it to know it’s from him. Sunghoon.
The message is simple: “Still need help with the project. Let me know if you want to meet up.”
You close your eyes and let out a slow breath. You want to ignore it. Pretend you didn’t see it. But you can’t. Because part of you wants him to be there. Part of you wants him to still be the one to help you, even if you don’t want to admit it.
You stand up, pacing around the room, the jacket slipping slightly off your shoulders as you move. You pull it tighter around you, almost subconsciously.
You know you’ll have to face him again. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe sooner. Hopefully later. But right now, with his jacket still draped over you, you’re not sure if you're ready.
But for some reason, you know you’re going to have to take it off.
—
You walk into the classroom, clutching the jacket in your hands. It’s been a couple of days since you woke up to find it draped over your shoulders, Sunghoon’s jacket—a silent gesture that spoke more than words ever could. He hadn’t said anything when you first found it. It had simply been there. At first, you thought it was an accident, but the longer you held onto it, the more it felt like something else. You hadn’t returned it immediately, unsure why you kept it. But now, with the fact the two of you share a class together, it felt like the right time.
You spot him sitting by the window, alone, lost in whatever thoughts occupy his mind. He doesn’t notice you as you approach, and the moment feels strangely... intimate, even though you're still far from the comfort you once shared.
You stand in front of him, holding out the jacket, but he doesn’t immediately take it. His eyes flicker up, and for a split second, something unreadable passes between you. He reaches for the jacket, but as his fingers brush yours, it’s more of a reflex than any real desire to touch.
Before you can pull away, a voice from behind you cuts through the moment.
"Are you two... together or just friends?"
You glance over to find a couple of classmates watching you both curiously. It’s a casual question, but the curiosity in their eyes is unmistakable. Sunghoon’s hand freezes mid-motion, his fingers still hovering over the jacket. He looks back at them briefly, his gaze faltering, not quite meeting yours.
For a moment, you’re not sure what to say. You notice how Sunghoon looks at the ground, avoiding any real response. His lips press together, his hand still unsure of whether to take the jacket back or not. He’s hesitant, as always.
You, on the other hand, feel the weight of the question, but you don’t shy away from it. Not this time. You stand tall, glancing over at your classmates and meeting their gaze.
“We’re just friends,” you say, your voice steady and clear. “Nothing more.”
Sunghoon doesn’t say anything. He just takes the jacket from your hand, his fingers brushing yours again, but this time it’s almost mechanical. You turn away quickly, the moment lingering behind you like an unspoken tension.
Your classmates exchange glances, their curiosity piqued, but they don’t push further. They turn their attention to the front of the room as class starts, but the question still lingers in the air.
You sit down at your desk, feeling the eyes of your classmates on you for a moment longer than usual. You force yourself to focus, pretending it doesn’t matter, but the thought of that brief interaction, the way Sunghoon avoided the question, settles heavily in your chest.
The class continues, but your mind drifts, back to that jacket and the weight of unspoken words. You can’t help but wonder what he might’ve said if you hadn’t answered for both of you.
No, that’s what he should’ve said because you guys were not dating, he broke up with you, and now the two of you were simply forced to work together. That’s it.
—
The autumn air was crisp, carrying the scent of fallen leaves as the two of you walked side by side down the quiet street. The school festival had just ended, and the distant hum of laughter and music still echoed behind you. Groups of students were lingering back at the event, but somehow, the two of you ended up here, together, away from it all.
It wasn’t planned. It never was with him. It was just how things always seemed to happen.
You hugged your arms around yourself because of the cold, cursing at yourself for not bringing a bigger jacket knowing the weather but wanting to look good for the event. He walked a little ahead, hands stuffed in the pockets of his jackets, his head tilted slightly towards you as if he was waiting for you to say something.
You had always been the talker between the both of you. The one who made friends easily, the one who never hesitated. But right now, the words sat heavy on your tongue, unspoken.
He let out a small sigh, looking up at the sky. “It’s late.”
“You should’ve left earlier then.”
He huffed, a tiny, almost-smile tugging at his lips before he looked back ahead. “You didn’t have to leave, you know.”
You shrugged. “Didn’t feel like staying.”
It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the full truth either. The festival had been fine, fun even. But then you’d seen him standing by himself, lingering near the edges of the crowd, not quite a part of it. And suddenly, the excitement of it all had dimmed.
He kicked a small rock with the tip of his shoe, watching it tumble along the pavement. “Didn’t think you were the type to leave a party early.”
“I’m full of surprises.”
A breeze picked up, and instinctively, you crossed your arms tighter over yourself. Without a word, Sunghoon shrugged off his jacket and held it out to you.
You blinked at him. “What are you doing?”
“You’re cold.”
You scoffed. “I’m not cold.”
He didn’t say anything, just kept holding the jacket out with that blank expression of his— the one that meant he wasn;t going to argue. You hesitated for a second too long, and then, as if deciding for you, he draped it over your shoulders himself.
You looked up at him, a retort on the tip of your tongue, but then you caught the way his fingers lingered just a second longer against your shoulder, the way he swallowed, like he wanted to say something but thought better of it.
It was nothing.
It was everything.
Your heart did something stranger in your chest, a quiet stutter. But then he pulled away, shoving his hands back into his pockets, eyes flickering elsewhere like it was no big deal.
Like he didn’t just leave you standing there in the middle of the empty street, drowning in the scent of his cologne, trying not to overthink what had just happened.
“Let’s go.” he said, his voice calm, steady. Like always.
You didn’t move right away. You just watched him, this boy who always seemed out of reach.
Then you exhaled and started walking again, side by side, your steps falling in sync.
And if your hands brushed once— just once— neither of you said a word about it.
—
After class, you head out of the room, your mind still lingering on the awkward exchange. As you walk down the hallway, you notice Sunghoon a few paces behind you, his expression neutral. You don’t turn around, but you can feel his presence. It;s the same as always, but somehow it’s different.
The hallway stretches ahead of you both, and you find yourself wondering if it’s the same for him, if he’s feeling the same weight of the unsaid words hanging in the air between you. But then you push the thought away. You can’t keep thinking about it. Not now. Not like this.
The day continues, but it doesn’t feel the same. Something has shifted again. Not a big thing, just the subtle change in the air whenever Sunghoon is around. But for now, you focus on the present. The project. The work. There’s no room for anything else. At least not yet.
—
Sunghoon hated studying in public places. He hated the noise, the crowded spaces, the way it was impossible to concentrate. But for some reason, he was here.
With you.
The library was dimly lit, the only sounds coming from the occasional turning of pages and the soft clicking of keyboards. It was nearly empty at this hour, just the two of you tucked away in a corner, buried under textbooks and notes.
You sighed dramatically, stretching your arms over your head before slumping onto the desk. “I’m going to die here.”
Sunghoon didn’t look up from his notes. “You say that every time we study.”
“Yeah, and one day it’ll be true. And when that day comes, I hope you feel bad about it.”
He huffed a quiet laugh, shaking his head. “Dramatic.”
You turned your head to look at him, resting your cheek against your arm. The lamplight softened his features, highlighting the sharp angles of his jaw, the curve of his nose, the way his lashes cast faint shadows on his skin.
He was so pretty.
Unfairly so.
You frowned, furrowing your brows. “Do you know you’re pretty?”
That finally made him look up. He blinked at you, pen pausing mid-air. “What?”
“What?”
There was a flicker of something in his expression— surprise, amusement, something unreadable. He tilted his head slightly. “I don’t think about that kind of stuff.”
You scoff. “Oh shut up.”
Sunghoon shook his head, turning back to his notes. “You’re ridiculous.”
“You’re avoiding the question.”
“Because it’s a weird question.”
“It’s not weird.” You sighed, pushing yourself up onto your elbows. “I just think it’s unfair that some people get to be smart and pretty.”
His lips twitched, like he was trying not to smile. “You’re calling me smart too?”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself.”
You hadn’t meant anything by it. It was just a passing thought, casual observation. But for some reason. Sunghoon kept stealing glances at you for the rest of the night, his fingers tapping idly against his notebook, like he was trying to figure something out.
—
The library is quieter than usual tonight. The steady hum of air conditioning fills the space, and the dim, golden glow of the desk lamps casts long shadows on the wooden tables. It’s late— too late to still be working— but neither of you have left.
At first, you barely acknowledged each other. The project was the only thing keeping you here and even then, you refused to speak unless absolutely necessary. You typed your sections. He worked on his. Simple.
But at some point, between the furious clicking of keys and the scratching of his pen against paper, something shifted.
The silence wasn’t as sharpe anymore. The air between you wasn’t quite so cold.
You were still stubborn, still keeping your distance, but Sunghoon had started to slip through the cracks.
It was in the way he quietly slid your match closer when he noticed you reaching for it absentmindedly. In the way his eyes lingered a second longer than necessary whenever you furrowed your brows at the screen, lost in thought. In the way he wordlessly handed you a new pen when yours ran out of ink, his fingers brushing yours just for a second.
Little things.
Things you didn’t want to acknowledge.
Things that made it harder to pretend that you hadn’t missed this— missed him.
You force yourself to focus on the words in front of you, but your mind is elsewhere. On him. On the past.
—
It had been a long night.
You weren’t supposed to stay out this late, but somehow, time slipped away. It was just the two of you, walking home after an evening study session, the sky stretched out in a blanket of deep navy blue. The air was crisp, autumn settling in with a quiet chill, and your footsteps echoed against the empty sidewalk.
“I can’t feel my fingers,” you muttered, shoving your hands into your hoodie pockets.
Sunghoon glanced at you, amused. “Then why didn’t you bring gloves?”
“Because I didn’t know it’d be this cold.”
“You say that every year.”
You huffed, nudging him with your shoulder. “And every year, I am caught off guard.”
He rolled his eyes but reached for your sleeve, tugging your arm towards him. Before you could react, he took one of your hands in his, tucking it into the pocket of his jacket along with his own.
The warmth of his palm against yours sent a shiver up your spine— not from the cold, but from something else.
Something you hadn’t quite named yet.
Neither of you said anything about it. You just kept walkin, the streelights casting soft golden halos around you.
You reached your doorstep too soon.
Sunghoon stood there, shifting on his feet, his fingers still loosely curled around yours.
You should’ve pulled away. You should’ve said goodnight. But instead, you just stood there staring at him.
The light from the porch illuminated the sharp angles of his face, the way his dark eyes softened when they met yours. His gaze flickered down— just for a second— before he quickly looked away.
You swallowed, suddenly hyper-aware of how close you were. “Are you gonna keep standing there, or—”
“Shut up,” he muttered.
And then—-
He kissed you.
It was hesitant, barely a whisper of contact. But it sent your heart into a frenzy, your breath hitching, fingers tightening around him without thinking.
When he pulled away, his ears were red, and he wouldn’t meet your eyes. “I— I wasn’t planning to do that.”
You blinked at him, mind still catching up. “Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Okay,” you repeated, this time smiling.
Sunghoon exhaled, sometimes easing his shoulders.
“You;re still holding my hand.” you pointed out.
He let go immediately, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Shut up.”
But you could see the way the corners of his lips twitched upwards.
—
You stare at the screen in front of you, but the words are a blur. The memory lingers, making your chest feel tight.
Sunghoon shifts besides you stretching out his arms. His sleeves push up slightly, revealing the faint outline of veins along his forearms. You look away quickly, annoyed with yourself.
This is ridiculous.
You don’t care. You don’t.
“Take a break,” he says, voice low.
You exhale, rubbing at your temples. “I’m fine.”
“You’re not.”
You shoot him a glare, but he’s already looking back at his screen, unaffected. Typical.
Silence settles between you again, but it’s different now. He’s too close, the air between you too charged.
And then—
“Do you still hate me?”
Your breath catches. The question is quiet, but it feels deafening.
You turn to him, meeting his gaze for the first time in what feels like hours. His eyes are steady, but there’s something else there— something raw, something careful.
You open your mouth, but no words come out.
He swallows. “ you won’t even look at me.”
You force yourself to scoff, to roll your eyes. “I look at you all the time.”
“Not like before.”
That makes you freeze.
Because he’s right.
Before— before everything— you had looked at him like he held the universe in his hands. And maybe, in some ways, he had.
But that was then.
And now—
Now you don’t know what to do with this version of him, this version of you.
The air is thick with something you don’t want to name.
And before you can think better of it, before you can stop yourself—
You kiss him.
It's reckless, desperate, a collision of past and present, of things left unsaid and things you don’t want to admit.
His lips part slightly in surprise, but he doesn’t pull away. If anything, he leans in, his fingers grazing your jaw, like he’s afraid to break the moment.
And maybe you are too.
But then—
Reality crashed back in.
Your eyes widen, and you pull away abruptly, breathless, heart hammering.
Sunghoon blinks, still processing, “Wait—”
But you’re already pushing away from the table, standing up too quickly, your chair scraping against the floor.
“I have to go,” you say, voice unsteady.
And before he can stop you, before he can say anything else—
You turn and walk away.
Leaving him sitting there, watching you go.
Again.
—
Avoidance has always been your best defense.
You mastered it after the breakup, convincing yourself that if you could just stay out of Sunghoon’s orbit, then none of it— none of the pain, none of the unanswered questions, none of him— could touch you.
But ever since that kiss, it’s been impossible to keep up the act.
You stop sitting in your usual spots in the library. You change your walking routes between classes. You leave early to avoid any chance of running into him. Your emails about the project become even shorter, even more detached.
And still— it doesn’t feel like enough
Because the problem isn’t just him.
It’s you.
It’s the way your mind keeps replaying that night in the library, the way your lips still burn with the memory of his, the way your chest aches everytime you think about how you didn’t pull away immediately.
You shouldn’t have let it happen.
You shouldn’t have wanted it to.
But worst of all— you shouldn’t still want it now.
You tell yourself this over and over again. But nine of it matters when you turn the corner one evening, only to find yourself face-to-face with the one person you’ve been trying so hard to avoid.
Sunghoon.
Waiting for you.
Like he knew.
“You’re avoiding me again,” he says, his voice eerily calm.
You grip your bag tighter and look away. “I’m busy.”
“Liar.”
The word lands heavier than it should.
You take a step back, but he matches it, blocking your way. His eyes search yours, and you can feel how tired he is— tired of the silence, of the pretending, of whatever this is.
“Do you hate me that much?” His voice is quiet, but there’s an edge to it, something sharp and desperate.
You exhale hardly. “Sunghoon—”
“Just answer me,” he pressed, jaw clenched. “Do you hate me?”
The words catch in your throat.
You should say yes. You should give him the finality he seems to be looking for.
But you can’t.
And maybe he sees it— maybe he sees the way you falter, the way your fingers tighten around the strap of your bag— because his expression shifts.
And then—
The door beside you suddenly swings open. A group of students spills out, laughing and chatting, shoving past both of you.
You barely register it before someone crashes into you from behind, sending you stumbling backwards—
Right into the supply closet.
And of course— because the universe must hate you— the force of it slams Sunghoon into the tiny space as well.
And before either of you can react— click.
The door locks
Silence.
Then—
“You have got to be kidding me,” you hiss.
Sunghoon tries the handle, but it doesn’t budge. He exhales sharply, resting his forehead against the door for a second before turning back to you.
“Great.”
You let out a bitter laugh, crossing your arms. “What, you think I planned this?”
“No, but it’s convenient, isn’t it?” He glares at you, frustration bleeding into every word. “You’re always running away, and now you can’t.”
Your pulse spikes. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” he mutters. “You left the night. You’ve been avoiding me ever since. You won’t even talk to me—”
“Because there’s nothing to say!” you snap.
“Bullshit!” His voice rises, his patience unraveling. “Don’t act like you don’t care. You kissed me, and then you ran away like it meant nothing.”
You freeze.
Because he’s right.
It wasn’t nothing.
But admitting that? Giving him that satisfaction? You can’t.
So you do what you do best.
You push back
“You don’t get to act like you’re the victim here, Sunghoon,” you say, voice colder now. “Not when you broke up with me.”
Something flickers across his face.
“And not just that,” you continue, the weight of everything you’ve bottled up finally breaking through. “You left me without any warning. You didn’t talk to me about what was wrong. You didn’t even try. You just decided one day that it was over and that was it.”
—
It had been an ordinary afternoon. You remember it oo well— how he wouldn’t look at you, how his hands trembled slightly as he shoved them into his pockets.
And then—
“I think we should break up.”
The words hit you like a slap.
You laughed at first, thinking it was some sort of joke. But then you saw the way he avoided your gaze. The way his fingers curled into fists.
“Why?” Your voice had cracked. “What happened? Did I do something?”
He had only shaken his head. “It’s just…. I don’t think this is going to work.”
“What—”
“I am not sure I am what you really need.”
It was the last thing you expected to hear.
But it was the only explanation he ever gave you.
That's what started it, why you just started running away from him.
—
“You thought it wouldn’t work?” you glare at him now, eye burning. “What the hell does that even mean?”
Sunghoon pressed his lips together, like he regretted saying it. But it’s too late.
“You didn’t even give us a chance,” you continue, voice rising. “You just decided that it wasn’t going to work out for the both of us.”
“I wasn’t sure if I was what you really needed.”
Your breath catches. “Sunghoon—”
“You’re always surrounded by people. You make friends so easily. I wasn’t like that, I am not like that.” His voice is quiet now. “I feel like I was always holding you back.”
You shake your head, feeling something sharp and painful twist in your chest. “That’s what you thought?” You let out another bitter laugh. “You know, I thought that’s what brought us together. That we were so different. That worked because of that.”
Sunghoon looks at you then, something unreadable in his expression.
“There were two people in our relationship, you and me. You made that decision that we don’t work well, for the both of us.” you say, voice shaking. “And now you think it’s going to work now just because you want it to?”
He doesn’t answer.
And you hate how much that silence still hurts.
You exhale shakily, turning away. “I don’t trust you., Sunghoon.”
His jaw clenches. “I know.”
“And I don’t trust myself to let this happen again. Because if you could leave that easily once, what makes you think I believe you won’t do it again?”
This time, he doesn’t try to deny it.
Because he knows.
Because he did leave.
And you don’t know if you’ll ever be able to forgive him for that. You hated yourself for never being able to hate him at all.
The only sound in the tiny space is the faint buzz of the overhead light—
And the deafening weight of everything left unsaid.
The supply closet is cold, but the tension in the air is suffocating. When the door finally swings open, neither of you move right away. Sunghoon steps back first, his jaw clenched, like he’s holding back something he’ll never say. You follow a second later, not looking at him as you walk away.
After that, things are different.
You don’t avoid him anymore. Not really. You still exchange emails about the project, still sit across from each other in the library, still in the same space without outright hostility. But the sharpness between you dulls— replaced by something softer, something sadder.
One night, long after the library should’ve closed, you look up from your notes to see Sunghoon staring at you. He doesn’t look away this time. Neither do you. For a moment, the world stills.
Then you blink, and the moment is gone.
—
The project ends.
So does your reason to stay in each other’s orbits.
You expect things to go back to normal, whether normal is supposed to be. You expect distance to creep back in, the silence to settle.
But somehow, Sunghoon lingers.
He doesn’t force conversation, doesn’t push. But you catch him in the corners of your vision— watching, waiting, hesitation. As if he’s waiting for you to decide what happens next.
—
Then one evening, you run into him.
It’s late. The air is cold, thick with the scent of winter. Sunghoon is standing outside the campus gates, hands shoved into his pockets, the street lights casting long shadows around him. He notices you before you can turn away.
“Hey,” he says, voice quiet.
You hesitate. Then, “Hey.”
There’s so much unsaid between you, so much left unfinished.
A part of you wonders— is this it? The last conversation before you both fade from each other’s lives completely?
Sunghoon opens his mouth, like he wants to say something more, but you shake your head, stopping him.
“It’s okay.” you say. “You don’t have to.”
His throat bobs as he swallows. He nods.
The streetlamps flicker above you. A car passes, its headlights flashing between you like a border, a final dividing line.
You should say something else. You should tell him you’ll see him around, that you’ll stay in touch, that you’ll find your way back to him someday.
But you don’t.
Instead you step back, offering a small, almost imperceptible smile.
“Take care, okay?”
For a second, you think he won’t respond. But then, finally— softly— he nods.
“You too.”
You turn around first. You don’t look back.
Sunghoon watches you walk away, his hands still in his pockets, his lips parts like he wants to stop you— but he never does.
The night swallows the both of you whole.
And just like that, it’s over.
—
The city hums in silence in the distance, but here, on the rooftop, it’s quiet/ the two of you sit side by side, legs dangling over the edge, the skyline stretching endlessly before you. The night is warm, the stars barely visible through the glow of streetlights.
“You’re gonna fall,” Sunghoon murmurs, eyeing the way you lean forwards slightly, hands bracing against the ledge.
You grin, tilting your head towards him. “You’d catch me.”
He doesn’t answer, but the corner of his mouth twitches, like he wants to smile but won’t let himself.
A soft breeze ruffles his hair. You reach out before you can stop yourself, fingers brushing through the strand, smoothing them down. Sunghoon stills at the touch, but he doesn’t pull away.
“You do that a lot,” he says after a moment.
“What?”
“Touch my hair.”
You blink, your hand dropping back to your lap. “Does it bother you?”
He exhales, looking away, down at the glittering streets below. “No.”
That’s all he says. But in the way his fingers clench slightly against his knee, in the way his shoulders stay tense even as the night air cools his skin— you realize something.
Sunghoon likes it.
He likes being close to you.
The thought makes your chest feel warm, something soft and fluttering settling behind your ribs. You don’t say anything about it, don’t tease or push. Instead, you lean back on your palms staring up at the sky.
“Feels like we could stay here forever,” you murmur.
Sunghoon glances at you, his expression unreadable.
Then, so quietly you almost don’t hear it—
“Yeah.”
Sevika wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about you, no matter how hard she tried. She’d throw herself into work, bury herself in stacks of paperwork, and even humor her family more than usual, just to keep her mind occupied. She’d sit through mindless meetings, hands twitching as her focus drifted again and again to the same thoughts. your voice, low and breathy, whispering against her ear. Begging her for more. It played like a broken record, over and over, no matter how much she tried to drown it out.
Her phone would become her greatest enemy. Every buzz, every notification would send a jolt through her, her stomach twisting with a hope she couldn’t shake. Her eyes would flicker to it more times than she’d ever admit, and when it wasn’t you, a frustrated snarl would form on her lips. Leg bouncing, jaw clenched, she’d curse the way you’d wormed your way under her skin.
But then, you'd call.
For the first time in two weeks, the "No Caller ID" would flash bright and wide on her phone at midnight. Sevika didn’t hesitate. The call connected on the second ring, her breath short and uneven as she brought the phone to her ear.
She didn’t speak at first, didn’t trust her voice not to give her away. She could hear you on the other end, though ...the faint sound of your breathing, hitching in a way that sent heat prickling up the back of her neck. The silence stretched, taut and electric, before you finally broke it.
“Sevika.”
You breathe out her name as if it were your one salvation. She leans forward, desperate for more.
“What are you doing right now? ”
A moment passes between you two that feels like a scenary . the faint sound of something sqelching can be heard in the background after your ever growing moans .
“I'm … i'm fucking myself on your cock … i added lube but it's so big i can't.. it wont fit . and im so wet”
your voice breaks by the end and sevika's pants feel tighter than ever as she twists in her seat . her eyes flutter for a minute and she swears she can see you , the unamed , unshaped mess riding her into an oblvion . she can see the tears welling your eyes through the pleading in your voice .
“ride me harder. faster.”
“Sevika., i can't , i can't my thighs are shaking . sevika it hurts.”
"Yes, you can. And you will. You wanna be lazy, call someone else."
She gives you little options or mercy, and judging from the slight hiccup in your voice, you comply.
“sevika , sevika you're sobig . please , please touch me i need you to grab me and pull me down i can't ... sevika please ”
fuck .
she lets her head lull back and her hand roughly grab her crotch . she can't bring it in her to touch herself , but the shame carries through her when she grinds down . she feels a million muffled sparks shoot through her thighs , all inhibitions lose as she groes desperate . she was going to cum , soon and hard . and it was like you could tell . could hear the slight in her voice judging from the way you moaned her name so heavenly.
Your next words are whispered and barely audible, but they catapult her to new heights.
“ sevika ... please cum in me .”
her voice staggers and if she wasn't close before she is now . the only sound that echoes is her laboured breath. a pit forms in her , she can feel it growing , expanding until it holds her entire beings attention . her body goes rigid , a groan shot out of her mouth as she clenches around nothing .
it takes almost two minutes for sevika to breathe out the next words .
“tell me where you are .”
She throws her phone against the wall and watches it shatter when the only answer she receives is the static of the disconnected phone.
And now she was here.
After days , weeks of those calls , of surrounding to your darkest desires every time your hand so much as touched your clit, your day of reckoning had finally arrived .
Your heart stops in its tracks as her face fills your vision. It’s like seeing a ghost, an imposing, unshakable ghost that you’ve dreamt about and dreaded in equal measure. Blood rushes from your face as a wave of panic surges up your spine. Sevika takes a step forward, her sharp eyes pinning you in place, but the heavy weight of her presence sends your instincts into overdrive. Your feet betray you, stumbling backward in shaky, uneven steps.
Her gaze doesn’t falter, and you swear you catch the faintest twitch of amusement at the corner of her mouth as she watches you retreat. It’s predatory... intense, deliberate, and knowing. The apartment feels too small now, like there’s nowhere to hide, nowhere to escape her.
And so, you run.
The click of your heels against the floor echoes louder than ever, each step ringing out like a countdown to your inevitable fate. Your chest heaves as you turn the corner, adrenaline burning through your veins. You feel like prey, hunted, cornered, and entirely at her mercy. Your mind screams to keep going, to find a way out, but your body betrays you with a craving you can’t ignore. Deep down, beneath the panic, is a desperate, unspoken desire for her to catch you. To claim you.
And then she does.
It’s only a matter of time before her hand wraps around your arm, rough and unrelenting. With a force that knocks the breath from your lungs, she slams you against the wall, face first. The cold surface bites against your skin, but it’s nothing compared to the heat radiating off her body, so close behind you.
“This is what you wanted, isn’t it?” her voice is a low growl,
You shake your head, a feeble denial that’s betrayed by the wetness pooling between your thighs. You can feel her smirk even without looking at her.
“Don’t lie to me,” she says, her breath warm against your ear. Her free hand snakes up to your neck, her touch firm but teasing. You feel like a doe caught in the jaws of a lion, trembling under her gaze, powerless yet willing.
You shudder , feeling her grip tighten just slightly , enough to remind you that she’s in control .
And then, with the ease of someone who knows exactly what they’re doing , she drags you to the bedroom . Her hand stays at the back of your neck , her touch like a leash , and you stumble behind her , unable to find the will to resist.
“That’s why you called all those nights,” she spits out. “Begging me for this.”
She’s harsh in the way she handles you , no ounce of tenderness softening her grip . The final shove sends you sprawling onto your own bedroom floor , the impact reverberating through your body with a solid , jarring thud.
Your palms press against the cool surface as you push yourself up slightly , trembling. But then your gaze lifts … and there she is.
Her shadow towers over you, broad shoulders squared, her chest heaving faintly as her predatory eyes rake over you. She doesn’t move right away, and somehow that stillness is worse. It gives you time to take her in, the taut set of her jaw, the dangerous curve of her lips, and the way her presence seems to fill the room, leaving you no space to breathe.
Your body shudders violently, not just from fear, but from something deeper, something primal that you can’t seem to wrestle into submission. That commanding aura of hers, it pins you to the floor more effectively than any hand could.
She tilts her head slightly, her eyes narrowing. “Look at you,” she says, her voice dripping with disdain, but there’s something else lurking there, something that makes your stomach twist.
Your lips part, but no words come out, only shaky breaths. Every instinct tells you to move, to do something, but you don’t. You can’t. All you can do is kneel there, trembling under the weight of her dominance, as if she’s already claimed every part of you without lifting a finger.
“Please,” you gasp out, voice barely above a whisper.
“Say it.”
“Please don’t make me…” Your words falter, and she laughs softly, a deep, rumbling sound that vibrates through you.
“Say it,” she repeats, more insistent this time.
Your lips part, and the words spill out before you can stop them. “Please touch me.”
The dam bursts, shattering every last inhibition you’ve tried to hold onto. The confession hangs in the air between you, thick with tension and raw desire. It’s as if those three little words have unleashed something primal within her, something that craves, consumes, and devours. And as she lets herself indulge in you, you realize you’ve never felt more alive.
she exhales slowly, her hands moving to her belt with a quickness . she unbuckles her belt , shoving her pants down to reveal boxers . your eyes eagerly trail down her thick thighs , before rising back up . Your desperate words are caught in the back of your throat . Your eyes freeze at the obvious bulge and you can't believe this is happening and you can't breath . to breath in her presence would be the greatest sin in your eyes as you bestow upon her .
you need her . you need her so bad you can hardly see . you need her so bad you can hardly think . you've been reduced to a thing that needs sevika .
“take it baby.”
Your hands wobble and shake as you reach for her underwear . you tug on her band until the cock bounces free . the first thing you notice is the way it slightly bounces in the air , your own breath hitches . you're certain that a woman like her wouldn't dub this her most largest toy and the simple fact sparks a sharp , icing pain through your chest . you had to show her how much everyone who so much as touched her didn't matter before . didn't matter anymore .
you trailed your fingers along its length , noting it's rubbery and smooth texture , right to the tip , which you lightly stroked; and then, amazed by your own boldness, moved back down a little , to grasp her cock firmly . you lean forward , a hesitent lick being given to the tip . the sharp inhale it receives spurs you to wrap your lips around the head . your hand strokes the silicone toy as your head slowly bops .
her hand grabs at your braids , rough calloused fingers tightening the grip as she thrusts into your mouth . you relax your jaw , a vigor running through as you quicken your pace . Your gags echo the room as she shoves you deeper , longer and your fighting every urge to grind your thighs together . you can almost smell it . the taste of her musk . the rougher she thrusts, the deeper you take her , her scent lingers in your nose . at least you swear it does . you can almost taste it . when she comes minutes later , pushing your head as deep as it goes you can almost feel the cum shooting down your throat .
You barely even make it to the bed after that .
she grabs you by the arm and drags you by your wobbly and thrumming knees and grabs the back of your thighs . the squeak , doesnt leave your mouth but your nails dig into her shoulders the same .
sevika walks you to the bed and thrusts you onto the bed . your body barely has enough time to bounce before she climbs onto of you . you feel her cock on your thigh . your bare thighs . your night dress is high nearing your hips and you're sure she has a view of your pearly pink panties and you can't breathe .
you feel her touch before you see her hand moving towards your thigh . you feel the way it hovers over your under , the gentle strokes it gives to your clothed clit . before you can beg , plead , speak , you feel her thumb slightly press down on your clit . you slightly jolt , your eyes never leaving hers and your slick pooling down the same . she presses circles and you can feel how wet you are . how much you've been begging for this moment .
"se - sevika."
you barely breathe out her name before she pushes your underwear to the side . her fingers , now presumbly slick , rub on your clit gently before pressing down . you almost feel your body go rigid , your jaw go slack as she inserts two fingers . you don't have it in you to feel ashamed at how you open up to it , to her . she fucks you in a way so gentle you almost float off .
"pretty little thing aren't you." she whispers in your ear , the only response she gets being a whimper . a moment later , before you can even thrash and shake , she pulls them out of you.
you feel the head of her cock near your entrance and sink your claw like nails in her back when she puts it in . you almost feel small tear drops of blood the longer you sink in but your eyes are shut and she's so big . you wrap your feet tightly around her back so she can’t get away .
she begins a rhythm , rhythm quickly accosted with the creak of your bed slamming against the wall . she's not nice in the way she fucks you . rough , deep strokes dragging you further down until you're almost suffocating . you can't speak , can barely function beyond punched out moans and she doesn't try to fill in the silence .
The longer she fucks you the more quiet you get . your eyes flutter shut . a growing intensity settling in your lower half.
“Tell me something doll.” she whispers in your ear . you feel something building inside you , your breath staggering and almost coming to a halt. “Did you get the chase you needed?”
“Oh.” you whimper out , voice high pitched and downright pathetic in sevika’s eyes . an orgasm rumbled through you and your nails sunk in your palm as you writhed and clenched around the toy .
static washes through your ears and it takes a minute to realize sevika hasn't stopped fucking you . her hand moves from its position of make shift bound and cups your jaw . your arms ache as they remain in their position
you slump into the sheets , unable to suppress the whimpers that crawl from you . your eyes are shut , babbles and moans overtaking any sense and you in your oversensitive state can feel the edge she drags you to . your clit pulses , limbs shaking .
“look at me.” she softly commands
yours eyes flutter open as you look at her through tear welled eyes , the sweat clinging her hair to her forehead , the way her lips part slightly , the pleasure that tremors through her body. the darkness in her eyes that greets you immediately sets you off before you can control yourself . your whine shatters through the air like glass and your face scrunches as you're shoved into your next orgasm .
“green eyed monster”
synopsis -> “Hii, can I request smut with kinda jealous Mark? pls🤍” [requested]
an: posting this separately bcs i got carried away and i realized i have a weakness for jealous! mark (spare me pls im ovulating)
warnings: jealousyyy!!! crude language, use of slut and whore, oral (f receiving), fingering, spanking, rough sex, multiple orgasms, slight exhibitionism, he cums in your mouth, mark is trying to make a point
—
mark knew it wasn’t your fault. you were naturally captivating and after gushing about you for months, of course the boys completely loved you.
but right now, you were sitting way too close to jeno, your skirt riding a little too high on your thigh, laughing a little too loudly over some stupid joke haechan said.
if it was any other situation, mark would’ve been the first to throw his head back in laughter. instead, he’s stuck, frozen in place, standing across the room, watching it all go down.
jaemin whispers something in your ear, making you blush and that was your boyfriend’s final straw, every ounce of self restraint he had breaking in a second.
striding across the room, hand instantly in yours, he practically dragged you out of the boys’ dressing room. you send a quick wave to the startled boys, feet hurriedly following your boyfriend’s large footsteps and into the empty dressing room right next door.
“is everything okay?,” you asked, voice laced with concern as you looked your boyfriend up and down, completely oblivious to the green eyed monster sitting on his shoulders.
he scoffs, dropping your hand, “you looked like you were having fun,” he crosses his arms, leaning against the wall.
“the boys are really funny, now i know why you’re always laughing with them,” not entirely sure why you felt like you were suddenly defending yourself.
“really funny, huh?,”
“mark, what’s wrong?,”
“what did jaemin say?,” he rolls his eyes as you finally catch on to the change of his behavior.
“oh my god, are you jealous?,” you try to hide your smirk. your boyfriend has sworn before that he’s not the jealous type, so to say you were enjoying this was an understatement.
“nu-uh, you don’t get to turn this around, you think it’s okay for me to watch my girl blush over another man?,”
“well, what jaemin said was really sweet,” you decide to push his buttons further. loving the way his voice dropped an octave deeper, the way he was currently biting his lips, eyebrows furrowed, the way his biceps were currently protruding under his shirt as he crossed his arms.
“say his fucking name again, i swear to god,” he curses, eyes darkening and you know now how much trouble you were in but you refuse to back down.
“yeah? what are you gonna do about it?,” you rile him up, challenging him.
in a second, he closes the distance, completely trapping you against the wall. his leg finds it’s way in the space between yours, skirt hitching up as his thigh presses into your cunt. you fight back the moan daring to leave your lips at the pressure of his weight.
his hand grips your chin, forcing you to look at him, “you really want to play this game? huh?,” he snarls, anger radiating off of his usual calm aura.
he gives you a chance to back out, a chance to calm him down.
you don’t.
“i don’t understand what the big deal is,” you say, continuing to stand your ground, excitement pooling in your panties at your boyfriend’s sudden change in behavior.
“the big deal is you’re mine,” he pronunciates every word sharply, making sure you get it through your head as his hand found its way under your panties, your skirt giving him easier access. he brutally attacks your pussy, fingers sliding up and down your folds, circling your clit.
a dark laugh escapes from his chest, “you fucking slut,” never losing eye contact, “you’re fucking enjoying this aren’t you?,” he grunts as he shoves two digits in your hole with absolutely no warning, “little whore, got this wet for another guy?,” his eyebrows furrow, betrayal flashing in his eyes as you try to keep your eyes open. every thrust of his finger making it harder to do so.
“n-no mark, only for you,” you manage to slip out in between choked breaths, your hands grabbing onto his shoulders.
“you like when i’m mad?,” your pussy confirms his realization, tightening around his digits and mark can’t help but scoff.
“d-don’t stop,” you beg, whining. he was curling his fingers right where you needed him the most and it felt so so so good. the added dirty talk turning you on so much more than you would like to admit.
“i should stop,” mark says but he doesn’t – loving the way you are currently falling apart with just his fingers, “what makes you think you deserve to cum?”
you furiously shake your head no, afraid he would deny you the orgasm you were desperately chasing “p-please don’t stop markie,” you rut your hips against his fingers, feeling the coil tightening in your stomach “i’ll do a-anything you want,” you cry out.
“anything, huh?,” his gaze darkens and all you can do is nod.
“okay, baby,” a devilish smirk appears on his lips, “why don’t you give them a show? let all the boys know this pussy is mine,” he grunts, landing a slap on your core, making you jump.
in one swift motion, your boyfriend was on his knees, head under your skirt as he removes the cotton barrier, quickly shoving your panties in his pocket and replacing it with the warmth of his tongue, immediately lapping around your sensitive bud.
“oh my god, mark!” you moan out, so loudly, eyes rolling back. it was undeniable that the boys in that other room could definitely hear you. you feel your boyfriend’s lips twitch into a smile against your heated core before his tongue continues sucking your clit, licking and blowing, fingers finding their place back in your hole, hitting that spot that only had room for his name.
you pull up your skirt, wanting to see him as you gripped his hair tightly, trying to ground yourself. mark looks up at you with his big brown eyes, a glint of playfulness twinkling in them and the sight of your boyfriend on his knees was enough to send you crashing down, “i’m coming, i’m coming, i’m coming,” you whine, your voice raising in pitch each time until all you had left was a breathy moan, jaw going slack as you lost the ability to speak, your orgasm completely washing over you.
mark doesn’t stop there.
turning you around and bending you over the couch. he lands a slap on your ass, loud and red, making you whine in both pleasure and pain as you battle the feeling of getting lost in your orgasm and reality.
“oh c’mon, i know you can be louder than that,” he whispers in your ear, before slapping the other cheek, so hard you were sure his handprint left a mark making you cry out in please, wanting more, your ass nudging at the bulge in his pants.
“tsk, tsk, so fucking desperate, what do you want?” he darkly chuckles, large hands gripping your ass.
“y-your cock,” you managed to whisper.
“louder baby, they won’t hear you like that,” he grips your hair back, arching you towards him as he whispers in your ear, fingers harshly rubbing your clit but it wasn’t enough. you needed him. and you needed him now.
“your cock, mark! i want your cock, please!,” you plead, tears brimming in your eyes at the hold he had on you, desperation laced in every whimper.
“good girl,” he smirks, before shoving you back down, the sound of his zipper following and without any further warning, he roughly slams into you, making your back arch, a guttural moan escaping past your lips.
your boyfriend’s pace was relentless and unforgiving. slamming into you with a thrust so powerful you swore it was going to break your back. but god, it felt so good. the curve of his dick follows the curve of your pussy, hitting your spot every single time without any complications. you can already feel your second orgasm coming to a close, it was ridiculous how much his dick was perfectly made for you. almost like he was designed for you.
“you think anyone else can fuck you this good,” he growls as if he can read your mind, “think any one of them can make you cum like i do,” his hand make it’s way to your abused clit once again, rubbing harsh circles and you can’t help but roll your eyes backwards, voice muffled by the couch below you as incoherent noises slipped past your lips. your second orgasm taking over your entire body. heat traveling all the way down to your toes as your fingers gripped the edge of the couch.
but mark wasn’t done proving his point.
he turns you around, as he hovers above you. he completely discards your skirt, throwing it somewhere across the room, as he harshly pulls down your shirt and bra, letting your breasts hit the cold air before he latches on to your sensitive nipples, biting and sucking. your body responding to every little touch he left behind. mind still reeling from your previous orgasms.
he wasn’t giving you time to breathe or process anything that just happened as he brought your legs up to your shoulders, sliding in smoothly, juices making it easy for him to thrust in and out.
this new angle has him hitting you even deeper, you swear you could feel him in your stomach. his pace was slow, steady. loving the way he could see the tip of his cock move inside you.
“think they can make love to you this sweetly, baby?” he says before his lips connect with yours, swallowing every moan you give him. mark didn’t want the boy’s to hear these ones. these sweet, angelic moans that were only reserved for his ears.
“give me one more, baby,” he whispers against your lips as his tongue continues to work its magic in yours. hands roaming all over you, sending warmth throughout every fiber of your being.
you were past the point of no return, so cock drunk you don’t even realize you were cumming again until you were gripping his back, leaving scratches behind.
your boyfriend grunts against your lips, his own release hitting him like a truck. he pulls out, quickly forcing your mouth open as he pumped himself down your throat. you forced yourself to swallow his hot release, groans of pleasure coming from him, eyes rolling back, before laying down right next to you, somehow fitting in this tiny couch.
he turns to you, gently tapping your cheek once, pulling you back down with him, your eyes fluttering open, “you okay?,” he asks sweetly as you hum happily, curling into him like a cat, a satisfied grin on your face, still caught in between your daze and the feeling of your boyfriend’s skin right next to you.
“by the way,” you croak out, clearing your throat, trying to find your voice, “jaemin said you and me were perfect for each other, that’s why i was blushing,” you look up at him with those innocent eyes, not missing the way his eyes widened in embarrassment.
“oh my god, baby…” he says. realization hitting him in the face as the blush crept up to his neck, you were so fucking dirty. but then his previous actions catches up to him, the way he roughly manhandled you, the words he called you replaying in his mind and the fact that he secretly enjoyed every single second of it.
what does that say about him?
