Okay, so, you guys voted for this so
JB's Intricate List of Dragon Age OCs
Under this, you will find a slightly more detailed than normal post about my extensive Dragon Age OCs and how they all exist in one universe and how that all ties together.
First we'll start with DAO and the one who started it all - Eliana Mahariel
This is my Warden. She was 18 years old, a baby, when everything went down. And she's got a natural skill at getting shit done (fake it til you make it mentality), and despite being very stressed, managed somehow. Also romanced Alistair but he became king and they both survived the Blight so...Angst. She goes on to be Warden Commander for Ferelden but will eventually step away to try to find a cure, which leads us to the next guy.
Arik Tabris - I pushed the city elf origin up a few months so he's a warden with Alistair and Duncan at Ostagar, but junior enough to be left behind. Why doesn't he take command?? Because he has too many issues to sort through with his attitude and gruff, impulsive fight everything act so he needs to cool his heels a bit before he's leader material. Which he eventually becomes. What's he doing by Inquisition? Well, he tried to talk sense with the Orlesians, but he got locked up at the fort but can be rescued and recruited for Inquisition. Also his romance plan was Morrigan, and they've basically gone their separate ways by Inquisition. Still feelings but knowing it is what it is.
Next we have one of 3 Amell siblings I made - Zoria Amell. The second youngest of five, she and her younger sister were both at the Fereldan Circle. There is a huge ass plot with her siblings, which involves her older 3 brothers coming to the circle to plot an escape and them having Northern family but...I feel like that deserves it's own post. What you need to know about Zoria is she very much is a fuck you let's go, I want to do what I want type. And she romances Zevran. Runs off with Zevran after the game, and is not a warden. So she becomes an apostate.
Dimetrea Brosca - Sadly I didn't get to develop as much as I wanted for the Leliana romance due to computer issues. But the plan was for her to escape, go to the surface and work as a mercenary and is recruited to the party when you help her protect a caravan from darkspawn. She'd probably continue various mercenary work afterwards, but always be on call to help Leliana.
Finally, Lir Cousland, because I made him to try the Cousland origin and got attached. He has no romance, he's just a noble to use to tip the scales at the end in my character's favor. He is the middle child, with older brother Fergus and a younger sister. He was at Ostagar but his sister arrived, terribly wounded, and told him what occurred at home before dying. Fergus had already left to scout and Lir, blinded by rage, left Ostagar to find Howe and get revenge. You meet him in the village after Ostagar and can recruit him if you agree to help him get justice for his family.
Moving on to Dragon Age II, we have the champion, a warrior named Atena Hawke.
Atena Hawke is a trained soldier, who lost her girlfriend at Ostagar, barely escaping with her and her brother's life. She's highly protective of those close to her, and can be a mix bag on personality (I broke the game with overlapping dialogue with aggressive and humor once). She's not afraid of a fight and she 100% was going to punch Cullen when he came to take Bethany to the circle. She romanced Anders, sided with the mages, and obviously, fled with Anders after sparing his life. She has attachment issues.
Next we have Atena's cousin, Dazbo Amell. The only Amell son to escape the events at the Fereldan Circle in that thing I need to make a separate post about. Definitely relies on his wit, humor, and charm to get out of things as well as mask his severe survivor's guilt and other issues, he's just trying to figure out what he's going to do with his life now that he can't be tracked by the circle, they probably think he's dead, and so decides to hang around his cousin and others. He also romances Fenris because...it fits to me.
Speaking of mages, let's talk about my templar OC. Katarina Anhalt. A Free Marcher and twin sister of a mage, Katarina is a nobleman's daughter who became a templar with noble intent, but a grave misunderstanding of what the templars actually do. She really wants to change the system from within and willingly turns a blind eye to apostate mages if they're not causing problems. But she will have to come to terms with reality sooner or later. Also romances Sebastian.
And since we mentioned criminals, let's discuss Sasha Fritz, a half elf human who was raised by his elven mother, who had been abused by his human nobleman father in Kirkwall. This boy is a Robin Hood; steals from the rich, gives to the poor. This, obviously, puts him in a place where he could join up with Hawke. Definitely gets a crush on Merrill and they romance each other.
more seedy undergroundness, is the apostate Selena Porter. Born under a different name, at ten years old, Selena realized her true self and that she had magic. She ran off, joined a smuggler ring and learned the tricks of the trade. She specializes in smuggling arcane items right under templars' noses. She romances Isabela.
And now we get to Inquisition.
We'll start with the Inquisitor himself, Rajmahel Lavellan
The First of his clan, Rajmahel was sent at 27 years old to the Conclave to see what he could find out as he had some connections which would enable him to get in. This, of course, changed the course of his life. He was torn from his daughter and his clan to become the leader of the Inquisition, trying to protect the world and make it better for his daughter. When they get to Skyhold, he sent for his sister to bring his daughter, Elera, there for safety. He romances Dorian.
Speaking of the Inquisitor's sister, we have Idrilla Lavellan. She joins the Inquisition at Skyhold after bringing her niece. And she does the work her younger brother might not want to dirty his hands with. But she also has a fascination with the tear in the sky- she had encountered an artifact in her youth enabling her to walk in the fade in her dreams, and she is concerned as it seems more restless than before. She romances Solas.
And as for the Inquisitor's connections, he is friends with members of the Trevelyan family. Specifically, Seigfried Trevelyan, the middle son. Maxwell, a templar and the youngest son, died at the Conclave where Seigfried was meant to be as well but was detained from arriving. Seigfried started to work as a scout for the Inquisition, having a strong huntsman skill and history as a city guard. He romances Cassandra.
Do you recall the Amell siblings? Here is the baby one, Aurora Amell. A talented spirit healer even from a young age, after contending with abuses and then studying as an apprentice to Wynn, she ended up joining the mage rebellion, eventually becoming engaged to an Orlesian mage. He was killed at the conclave while Aurora was helping a local woman with a difficult labor. She readily joined the Inquisition, only to meet someone from her past. She romances Cullen.
Hildegard Cadash is a respected and feared name within the Carta. After the murder of her husband and son, she had torn down her rivals, whether through assassinations or ruining them financially. When a member of her family (niece/nephew/nibling) was killed at the Conclave, she decided to do what she did best - seek retribution by aiding the Inquisition with her extensive underground connections. If you don't cross her, she's warm and friendly, glad to share a drink and story. If you cross her, though, that could be a problem. She romances Blackwall.
When their older sibling went to the Conclave and Inatar and Shamut Adaar stayed behind, they thought it would be a routine event. They didn't expect their sibling to die. Now, Inatar keeps an eye out ofr her mage brother, and they decided their best bet was to join the Inquisition. Protection under an organization headed by a mage as well as be able to avenge their brother. Inatar romances Sera and Shamut romances Bull. Didn't get to delve into these two much due to computer issues.
Next is a wholly companion OC, a Crow from Antiva. Sergio di Vasco. Sergio had learned of a hit set on the Inquisitor and, deciding he wanted more than being a crow after his alcoholic father sold him to them, he betrayed them and offered his services to the Inquisition. A bit aloof at times, he merely wants to sus out the people around him. If you earn his loyalty, though, he won't waiver in it. He ends up romancing Josie.
Another fully companion OC, Shalelan Amalasis is a Dalish elf from Antiva. A skilled warrior, he was sent by his clan to offer his services to the Inquisitor upon learning they were Dalish as well. They hope was to help them in their struggles in Antiva. Shalelan is a quiet, albeit easily flustered man. He knows how to fight, and focused on that for so long, some of his social skills are lacking.
This one is just a fun one. Antoinette de Ghislain, the cousin of Seigfried Trevelyan, is an Orlesian noblewoman very tired of her life and with little means of her own. And thus, she decided to write novels. But what kind of novels? Usually risque novels involving notable figures from across Thedas for her patrons. It gives her some independent income from her husband and a bit of freedom, even if at times, she can't help but roll her eyes over what some of the requests she receives are.
And now we'll get into DATV, with my Rook, Ogden Thorne
Working on his history, but he's around 37 years old. His last name wasn't originally Thorne, but he was called Thorn in the circle due to his habit of standing up to the knight commander and other templars more than they liked. He was recruited to the Wardens in his early 20s by the Hero of Ferelden herself, because she liked his fire and attitude. Of course, this eventually gave him issues with the other wardens as the order dwindled and here we are. No idea who he romances; we'll find out. He is the staple sad blond human man for this Dragon Age game since that's not a romance option.
And a bonus:
Others not listed here
AU where Atena had a twin brother named Alric (I wanted to play in CC)
Son of Idrilla and Solas named Fenvir
Ancient elf seer named Mathras Myriani
Ancient elf servant of Ghilan'nain named Dalineva who is...a piece of work.
A Tevinter blood mage magister designed as a villain named Vincentius Titus
Emrys Moysten, who could have been my Rook, that I made for a tabletop game. A Fereldan mage who just wants to be left alone but gets dragged into various situations.

Fic Recommendations
The @black-emporium-exchange is filled to the brim with wonderful stories and art for delicious rare pairs. This year I tried to read as much as possible, but I know there is still much to dive into over the weeks ahead. Here are my favorites so far from the overall collection, which I highly recommend you peruse.
A Marriage of Convenience by @hollyand-writes What can I say other than brilliant? A Merrill/Carver Hawke longfic that focuses on a modern-day Kirkwall and a marriage of convenience. This story really has everything you could want (action, romance, smut, politicking, Carver in a tux) and more. This was one of my gifts and I was beyond thrilled.
Something Just Like This by @theneras-la-lath A Bethany Hawke/Alistair Wardens fic that focuses on their relationship from when they met to Inquisition, where Alistair is wanted as a fugitive. Beautifully done with mutual pining, awkward moments and a strong Bethany. Another gift that made me so happy.
The Real Treasure Was The Skeletons We Fought Along The Way by sunspot This Varric Tethras/Lace Harding story made me chuckle and grin. I’m certain youll enjoy this short treat, which is filled with humor and cheer. These two are adorable together. This was another gift that I adored.
in all the years of struggle it seems we’re making way by gamerfic This fic is fab, and I knew it was gamerfic as soon as I started. Focusing on Female Lavellan/Felassan in a universe where Felassan isn’t outright killed after the events of The Masked Empire, but made Tranquil. Lavellan drags Cassandra along to fix that wrong, for some, not-so-straightforward reasons. GIVE IT A GO!
there’s no place like home by @coaxionunlimited A pairing I’ve never read before, this story centers on Female Aeducan/Female Brosca. This was like magic, I felt captivated and eagerly ate every word. I love exploring what would have happened to the other Origins if Duncan had not arrived, and this was delightfully done.
My Vow to You by @tejaswrites This is packed to the brim with lore and worldbuilding for the Avvar. A Skywatcher/Female Trevelyan wedding day story that captivated me.
Someone in Another Time by @mythawrites This is a joy. Cassandra/Female Trevelyan story in which we have some time divergence at play. I don’t want to give anything away, but the warmth at the end fills me with autumn light. Lovely. Go read.
Second Chances by Toshi_Nama Really full story featuring Female Hawke/Cullen Rutherford stuffed with angst and love. Bonus Cass & Cullen as the best BROTP. This is something that hits just right.
Foregone by Prix I never imagined loving Alistair/Morrigan, but this was fantastic. An exploration of their relationship from first meeting all the way through the Dark Ritual and beyond. GO read.
There are so many more stories, but this is already so long. Go check out the collection and give some love to these writers. Rare pairs are really where it is at!
#dragon age#fanfiction#fic recs#black emporium#go get some reading in this weekend friends#I could write a book of recs

Dragon Age for the in-depth fandom questions ^^
Oooo, a Dragon Age ask. It’s been a while since I talked about it!
Top 5 favourite characters: Isabela, Zevran, Cullen, Leliana (DAI), Cassandra
Other characters you like: Merrill, Morrigan, Flemeth, Varric, Cole, Dorian, Barris, Dagna, Sera, Krem, Harding, Bethany (there are SO many others too)
Least favourite characters: Vaughn, Orsino, Everyone involved in the Leandra plot in DA2, Solas, Elthina
Otps: Isabela/Zevran, Leliana/Cassandra
Notps: Meredith/Cullen, Merrill/Anders, Merrill/Fenris, Blackwall/life, Solas/Inquisitor (there are quite a few others too)
Favourite friendships: Hawke & Varric, Leliana & Cullen & Josephine, The Iron Bull & Krem
Favourite family: Wow, family is really traumatic in DA. Um. Let’s go with Hawke’s found family in DA2
Favourite episodes: It’s not really episodic, but I like the first act of DA2 a lot
Favourite season/book/movie: DA2 (purple f!Hawke is probably my favorite game protagonist ever)
Favourite quotes: “It’s like a bar brawl. People are continuously pulled into the fray, and nobody remembers why it started. Justice is an idea. It makes sense in a world of ideas, but not in our world.” - Isabela
Best musical moment: Leliana singing in DAO
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: Isabela’s entrance in DA2, Cassandra interrupting Leliana to say she’s a spymaster
When it really disappointed you: When they tried to sell Cassandra as straight, When they just …didn’t do anything with Vivienne, Not including Merrill in DAI, weird transphobic jokes from Isabela
Saddest moment: Leandra’s death (I played it alone at 3 in the morning and just sat there and sobbed for a long time), Leliana breaking down after Justinia’s death, Varric if Hawke gets left in the Fade
Most well done character death: Duncan and Cailan, Clarel (she had like 30 seconds on screen and I’m still into her)
Favourite guest star:
Favourite cast member: oooo, too many! Claudia Black probably
Character you wish was still alive: Leandra
One thing you hope really happens: That DA 4 actually happens (and they do the idea of a spy cell in Tevinter PLEASE)
Most shocking twist: That Flemeth is Mythal and not Fen’harel, Elthina betraying Patrice (that was COLD)
When did you start watching/reading?: A few months after DAO came out, but I started with the City Elf origin and couldn’t continue when I got to the whole terrible Vaughn plot. I set it aside for a while before I came back to it.
Best animal/creature: All of the dragons in DAI, mabari hounds
Favourite location: Skyhold and Emerald Grove
Trope you wish they would stop using: idk if it’s a trope, but they need to deal better with gross-ass colonialism and let characters from a culture explain things (Merrill instead of Morrigan explaining stuff about Mythal for example)
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: Destroy people with voice kinks (seriously, the VAs for Dragon Age are all SO good)
Funniest moments: Wicked Grace in DAI, Cassandra and her romance novels, any of Hawke’s jokes
Couple you would like to see: Cassandra/Leliana
Actor/Actress you want to join the cast:
Favourite outfit: The robe/template you get from the Trespasser DLC, Isabela’s clothes in DA2
Favourite item: The huge skull staff in DA2 and DAI
Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: a mabari plushie, some physical art, stickers
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in?: apostate mage probably
Most boring plotline: I like most of the main plotlines, and I’ve blocked out the boring ones
Most laughably bad moment: Orsino turning into the Harvester, wut?
Best flashback/flashfoward if any:
Most layered character: Leliana (I’m so glad they gave us a more in-depth view of her in DAI)
Most one dimensional character: Blackwall
Scariest moment: When Hespith is reciting poetry in the Deep Roads, Cullen in the demon binding, Searching for Leandra (Hawke’s voice there hurts), Leliana’s personal quest to the chapel in DAI which can go very very badly
Grossest moment: Anything with the Broodmother
Best looking male: Zevran (DAO), Cullen (DAI)
Best looking female: Isabela (DA2), Cassandra, Morrigan, Flemeth (stop me)
Who you’re crushing on (if any): Cassandra, Isabela, Zevran
Favourite cast moment: Farewell at the gates in Denerim (DAO)
Favourite transportation: GIANT NUGS
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): Battle of Ostagar
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: Way too many, but mostly how do dragons interact with the blight? Also a ton of Dalish stuff
Best promo:
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: When Duncan first started narrating, and then again when Zevran showed up
It doesn’t really fit in any of these questions, but shout out to the moment with Nightmare in the Fade where it tells Hawke that she doesn’t matter, that nothing she did changed anything. It makes me cry every time.

Dragon Age Question Meme
thanks for the tag @bitchesofostwick! too fun not to do! :)
tagging @solverne-02 @bearly-tolerable @aurianavaloria @laraslandlockedblues @ladymdc @galadrieljones @thevikingwoman @idrelle-miocovani
01) favorite game of the series? I think Origins is the best in terms of gaming while 2 has the best story.I’m most attached to Inquisition and Origins equally when you boil down to it, I played both a lot and both were huge comforts.
02) how did you discover Dragon Age? All the way in 2009 the game came out to glowing reviews and my interest piqued. During Valentines day 2010 my dad got me a game stop gift card and I bought it. (my parents rock lol.) anyway I played it but it went horribly, I missed leliana and sten in lothering...accidentally killed Irving so sided with the templars...zev betrayed me...it was a mess. It wasn’t until a third play through that I began to love the game.
03) how many times you’ve played the games? Origins: gosh I’ve gotten to the end at least 5 times, but made a lot of characters. 2: probably 3 times with a female hawke and once with a male (for some reason that’s the only game I’ve played as a male as to the end...he romanced merrill.) Inquisition: once again, at least 5.
04) favorite race to play as? Just so happens to turn out my favorite backstories and origins are the human ones, though I tried to make elves. I just couldn’t come up with a character I gravitated toward.
05) favorite class? Story wise: mage, fun to play as and personal enjoyment: rogue.
06) do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time? Make the same decisions because it feels weird if I don’t, lol. Especially with romances...I get so loyal I can’t romance anyone else. I do though sometimes change up classes for variety.
07) go-to adventuring group? I tend to shuffle a lot, but my most common groups are in DAO: Alistair, Leliana/Zev and Morrigan/Wynne but I love them all and tend to shuffle. DA2: Fenris, Anders, Varric and in DAI: Sera, Vivienne, Cassandra (though again I do a lot of shuffling for variety.)
08) which of your characters did you put the most thought into? Lydia Trevelyan, no question. I wanted to write her story and romance, so I did. :3
09) favorite romance? DAO: Alistair, DA2: Fenris. DAI and overall: Cullen.
10) have you read any of the comics/books? Nope.
11) if you read them, which was your favorite book? honestly I have no plans to read any *sorry.*
12) favorite DLCs? Hmmm...The Stone Prisoner in Origins, and Jaws of Hakkon! Of course Tresspasser too.
13) things that annoy you. Most are fandom related...not going to lie. But in game I wish Inquisition had more ambient music as you explored, and that missions actually meant something to the war effort other than racking in points. I wish Cullen’s trauma at the winter palace was treated more thoughtfully, and I hate, hate, hate how the inquisitor has to kneel down and loot because it takes FOREVER. I also wish DA2 had a longer development cycle because the game could have been so much more.
Oh I also wish vital story info wasn’t in books/DLCs.
14) Orlais or Ferelden? Aesthetically I like elements of Orlais, I have to pick Ferelden though.
15) templars or mages? Much like bitchesofostwick, all my OCs have, when the games pit one against the other, sided with the mages, but I think the chantry is so bad both groups need reform. (Circles need to function like schools rather than prisons, templars need to know magical defense but serve as protectors and move away from the chantry.)
That being said Lydia is actually kind of pro templar, more than one may think anyway...in the sense that she thinks they can do better.
16) if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?In Origins I played through different origins for variety, but I can’t make multiple characters for one game, lol. I find making OCs so fun but time consuming and I love doting all the attention to select few, lol.
17) what did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc) Miranda Cousland’s mabari is Hal after a prince in a book. Rhine Hawke? honestly never given much thought, lol. Probably something simple like Spot (Carver would point out constantly he has no spots and she would say something witty back, ha.) Lydia’s horse is named Pepper. Her and cullen’s mabari is named Cleo.
18) have you installed any mods? i bought inquisition on PC just to use mods and I havent figured it out yet, lol.
19) did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? NO! In fact she resented it big time because she saw her duty as taking revenge, and Duncan basically gave her a death sentence in her eye. Eventually she kind of succumbs to her duty but if she had things her way, she would never have become a warden.
20) hawke’s personality? she started off a good purple/blue. In Inquisition she became red.
21) did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition? No but maybe I should, lol.
22) if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change? Miranda would make sure Howe never did what he did. Rhine would stop Meredith sooner. Lydia would make sure (SPOILER) her ex boyfriend Asher never became a red templar.
23) do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?Miranda meets Lydia at Skyhold and is the Warden contact. there’s a big party at skyhold and lydia makes an epic speech. this is a big one: Rhine loves Fenris, but he leaves like he always does, and she knows Anders loves her to death so she gets with him. Ultimately though they have a mutual break up, and she goes back to fenris a month later. (they’re endgame) this makes her feel extra responsible for the chantry explosion. (She approves of sending the message...just not that way lol.)
24) are any of your character(s) based on someone? Well Lydia is the most like me, but the more time I have spent with her the less I find us identical. I made Mira/Rhine as different as I could, but none are really based on anyone. Maybe parts of Lydia are based on Lauren Bacall/Vivien Leigh, more old hollywood ladies <3
25) who did you leave in the Fade? In game always Stroud. Or sometimes Hawke. In my story it’s Hawke :( sorry all i thrived on the drama.
26) favorite mount? the war nug!

Emerald M4, Y3; Kallista I4, N2; Serena R5 :)
First of all, thank you for your questions! They are very thoughtful and interesting, and it was a lot of fun to decipher them!
EMERALD AEDUCAN
M4. What would they name a son? What would they name a daughter?
As the answer depends on the verse, I decided to divide it into two parts. :)
The Queen AU:
Naming a child is tricky when you do not want the others to get a wrong impression.
For a daughter - easy enough, most likely her mother’s name. Had there been second names in Orzammar, she would have also gone with Nerav Helsi’s name, because Nerav has been her best friends for years and her friendship means a lot to Emerald. (The fact that Nerav is a noblewoman from an influential Helsi family plays a role, too. It would be a rather safe choice.)
For a son - difficult, very difficult.
Emerald would love to honour her late father that way, but Bhelen was faster and two Endrins, only a few years in age apart from each other, is one too much in House Aeducan.
She would love to honour her friends from the surface, but it could give Orzammar’s conservatives a wrong impression about her true loyalties, and she does not – cannot risk it.
She would love to honour her brothers - or at least to honour Trian, as Bhelen’s name still brings too many bittersweet memories to her - but it would not be appropiate given her reputation as a fratricidal princess.
She would love to honour Gorim Saelac, one of her few friends in Orzammar and the first man willing to die by her side, but again, it would give everyone a wrong impression. After all, Gorim was also persecuted for Trian’s murder.
So eventually Emerald settles for an inconspicous name suggested by her husband’s side of family. She convinces herself that it is better this way, that it is a fresh start for them both, but it does not really lessen the guilt she feels that it is not Alistair’s son, and, Ancestors, she has not seen Alistair in years, but what would she pay to have him here in the place of her husband!
General canon:
Given that in this universe there is no pressure for Emerald to choose a dwarven name (it is not that she does not love her mother, it is just… she barely knew her) and Emerald’s not as close with Nerav Helsi due to the time she spends on the surface, she would definetely try to name her and Alistair’s daughter… Morrigan Leliana!
(I know. Imagine Alistair’s terror when he hears the idea.)
(The choice is quite predictable. Morrigan and Leliana are Emerald’s dearest friends. Plus, Morrigan sacrificed herself so that she and Alistair could live, and Emerald could not not honour her for it.)
Fortunately, a compromise is reached. The girl’s named Morrigan Leliana, because it sounds better than the reverse, but she will be called “Leliana”, with “Morrigan” playing the role of a forgettable second name.
As for a boy, Duncan Endrin! Emerald respected Duncan and knew how much he meant for Alistair. Though she would jump at the idea of honouring her own father, she would give Duncan the priority without thinking twice, especially as “Endrin” as the first name was already taken.
Y3. Where they different when they were first created?
In a way, yes! The biggest change is her facial tattoo - when I created her character, I had a very faint idea of Dragon Age as a franchise and so I just went with a tattoo, not bothering to check its connotations in-universe. Although nearly all of my screencaps with Em have her with a tattoo, canonically she does not have a single one, and I stick to that decision.
Moreover, at the first stages of projecting her character she was more… innocent, I think. I definetely did not predict that the return to Orzammar will make her so depressed!
At her core, though, Emerald did not change at all, mostly due to the fact that she developed quite organically, throughtout playing the game, and I did not have any expectations playing her (except that she is loosely based on Em Goldenbraid from Mysticons, that is).
ABCs of your OCs - feel free to ask Emerald!
KALLISTA TABRIS
I4. Would be/Was their family okay with them being LGBT?
(Okay, so a snippet of clarification - Kallista is a closeted lesbian. She was “willing” to marry Nelaros not to hurt her father’s feelings, but the very thought of the wedding night made her stomach churn. Later in the plot she romances Leliana and they live happily ever after, two murder wives working for the Inquisition.)
Kallista may not look like it, but deep down she is all about family, and her family’s approval means a lot to her, especially as… they did not have the faintest idea that she was attracted to women before. :P
(Not to mention that her father was so enthusiastic about grandchildren and she hated to disappoint him like that.)
I have not reached the visit to Denerim’s Alienage just yet and I will probably return to this question at a later note, but for now the answer is - Kallista was accepted.
(Though, in General AU she lied to her father that as a Warden (whom she was not, only pretended to be) she would not be able to have children anyway to make the confession easier to bear.)
(In all other AUs (Main AU in which she is the Hero of Ferelden, and Warden Multiverse AU) she is a real Warden, hence no reason for lying.)
N2. What have they never done that they want to?
Singlehandedly abolish slavery in all of Thedas! (She is working on it, though.)
On a more serious note, she probably heard of some pranks Marian Hawke pulled on unsuspecting Templars (AKA Cullen Rutherford x15), but pulling them in the exact same form would not be so satisfying, so, yeah. Until she comes up with a nice way to reinvent them, it is all in her thoughts.

SERENA AMELL
R5. Do they find any rules they/others follow absolutely ridiculous?
Too many of them, actually! She does not approve of the Chantry’s approach to magic, the automatic condemnation of less known and/or morally ambiguos kinds of magic (think Merrill’s blood magic or Morrigan’s shapeshifting), Qunari’s determinism, strict dresscodes, the no fraternization rule, and many small, objectively ridiculous rules she had to adhere to in the Circle.

DA:O, DA2 & DA:I
This is a ramble!
There really aren’t enough romance-able options. Dorian and Bull are out because I really love their ending! (Just like Garrus’ and Tali’s).
My dalish mage was the perfect candidate for Sera because the delicious drama of wanting someone that shouldn’t want you. Sera falling for a dalish mage is just too good!
Cullen and Solas are BORING! Let me do who I want as what I want dammit!
These are some playthru’s I still have in my heart and mind:
I romanced Alistair in DA:O as an elven mage, that remained as his mistress as he and Anora took the throne together. That romance was one where I actually felt somewhat of a connection with Alistair thru that character and what really sealed the deal for me was Wynne’s comment “Who’d want to marry a mage?”. Ah the drama. Of course they didn’t marry because above but still.
I romanced Zevran as a male dalish. Of course DA2 and DA:I tells us (unless he died I guess) that Zevran remains a free spirit regardless. However I imagined that at some point in DA2 my warden would be traveling thru Kirkwall or something and he would catch Zevran flirting with Isabella or someone and he would just turn around and walk away with his squad of warden recruits and Zevran would feel guilty and not get it up when he actually got whoever naked. lol.
My tapestry and favorite tho, is:
I romanced Morrigan as a noble dwarf (loved to play as a male noble dwarf!). Rurin slept with both the noble-hunters and had a baby with the one of them. He made Bhelen king because he is his brother and despite everything he still loves him. He of course convinced Bhelen to adopt his son that was named Duncan. Rurin tries to visit every now and again to see both his brother and his son, (Bhelen re-instated his brother in the shaperate after he defeated the blight btw). Rurin and Morrigan went thru the ritual with love and stayed together to raise the child when Rurin finally tracked Morrigan down. He is a kind hearted man with two families…
Let’s see…
In DA2 I was disappointed that Sebastian couldn’t be romance by a male Hawke… I never tried with a female fully, tired of the game by then. I do still have him in the tapestry for my female mage tho. Hopefully he will make her the princess she wants to be in the future.
In general I loved that you could romance AND rivalmance everyone (except Varric and Sebastian of course) regardless of gender in DA2! I want that back!
I want more options of races in the future. One of each at least! ...lika a femdwarf and maledwarf, femhuman and malehuman all available regardless of gender on your character! Plz
There really is no other option for a gay man other than Dorian and he is as I said off limits, who is there then? Bull? No, he is off limits because he belongs with Dorian! So, no other gay option then? No. None. Sigh.

hey there!!! can you tell me a bit about miri lavellan? (or any other ocs that you'd like to!!) i remember you said that you were working/developing more about her, and i love hearing about people's ocs!!!
Yes, I love talking about my ocs x)(I’m just going to do all my Inquisitors because I’m That Kind of Guy™)
Miri Lavellan- Miri is an elven mage. She’s too nice for her own good. Like, it’s sickening how nice and thoughtful she is. She and Cole get on really well because of it. She helps all those in need, and she will not turn her back on anyone who needs help. She’s a very trusting person, but she finds it hard to forgive someone if they betray her or lie to her. She gets a crush on Cullen while still in Haven and fumbles her way into being married to him (with a little too much help from their mutual friend Dorian tbh). She’s really awkward too, making her practically a perfect match for Cullen x)
Jaras Lavellan- Jaras is a rogue archer with the tempest specialization. He has a Tragic Backstory™ that results in a hesitation to embrace his feelings for Dorian, and even after, he’s always afraid that something will go wrong. Also, because of his Tragic Backstory™, Jaras doesn’t have a strong connection to his clan other than his immediate family, though he’d still be terribly distraught if they died because they are the only connection to his past he has left and of times before things went awry. He is conflicted about the Creators and whether he believes or not, but he tries to tell himself that he hates everything to do with it that way it is easier for him to deal with it if none of it is actually true.
Venowen Tabris- Venowen is my Warden who becomes the Inquisitor through…unusual circumstances. As in the world can never fix itself and she just so happens to be the lucky person that the universe tends to crap on. In the City Elf Origin, she didn’t want to marry her fiancé (because free will and fuck traditions and what-not), but she couldn’t make herself hate him as a person. The attack by the nobles was unexpected and only fueled her rage towards humans, the attack on Shianni and the death of her fiancé making it ten times worse. She had a sliver of respect for Duncan only because he tried to help, but other than him, she was as cold and distant to humans as much as possible. She hated Alistair for how nice he was and felt the same towards Leliana later when she met her and found herself gravitating towards Morrigan for a time, the cynical and sarcastic mage a nice relief from the cheerfulness of the other two companions and the stoic Sten (who was feet taller than her and v intimidating already). Eventually, she warms up to Leliana and Alistair, but she still has trouble with other humans, especially authority or people who don’t treat her like a person. She romanced, and later marries, Alistair, but Leliana is a very important person in her life, too, along with her cousin, Shianni.
#i got really into it by ven oops#i feel like i could write more about miri and jaras i'm just...not sure what i'd talk about#oh well i think i summed them up decently#and ven's big thing is her trying to overcome her hatred of humans and stuff that was#ingrained in her as a child#oh i have two more inquisitors that i'm working on too#a cadash that romances josephine#and the child of donnic and aveline?#that one is...really complicated#and involves time travel#it's shit that varric wouldn't understand or want to understand x)#miri lavellan#jaras lavellan#venowen tabris#asks#ocs

I'm going to keep asking you: Josephine, idk if I asked about Sebastian or not but if not then it's happening now, Cullen, Sera, Alistair, and Cassandra. I already know your feelings on most but my dude, your opinion is so important to me and also your posts are hilarious.
Did a Seb!
Josephine
How I feel about this character
Josie is that elegant, well spoken lady I dreamed of growing up to be when I was a wee punk. She has mystery! A good heart! Golden. Ruffles. The noble eldest of her family, saving them from doom. I think its fair obvious I am heart eyes gaga over Josie. And she's a gossip! True story, my favorite kind of person. Tell me all the things.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Leliana and Josie is probs my favorite ship for Josie. Next would be the not romance with Blackwall. I don't think I have a specific Inquisitor romance for that i like. But imagining her with an ex carta dwarf lady makes my heart feel fluffy. Val may get a cousin.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Also Leliana, i love their friendship? How they pick on Cullen and Cassandra. You know the shopkeepers cry in terror and joy when they arrive. Like yes a sale but oh the standard they demand.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I don't think I have one. Hm.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
I am actually good with her canon. A marriage would be nice in Trespasser. Oh that would be glorious. The flowers alone.
Cullen
How I feel about this character
Cullen is. He is not my favorite normally. Fandom ruined him for me, #notsorry. Now. I do think he is a character with great potential. I also want that furry cloak thing. I need it.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I dont have specific ship but there are a couple, as in literally 2, specific pairings that I read. But its more because I love friends writing then because I am googly eyed over noodle head.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Therapy. He needs it. Do they have lyrium anonymous? That's what he needs.
My unpopular opinion about this character
That is not a redemption arc. He definitely becomes more selective with his mage distrust/hate. But he doesn't really change from his all mages can't be trusted stance. And the templars were poor mistreated puppies! Yeah no they problematic to bud.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
Him interacting with now ex templars. Growth beyond the dogma and the addictions. It needed more. But kore isn't for boys who are pretty i guess
Sera
How I feel about this character
Sera is a disaster and I love her. Sera is all of us who saw a qunari lady and also went woof. I like that she's nobody compared to most of your companions. She's a real people. Also eat the rich mentality is just yes. Throw them into the pit. And she brings the inquisitor in as a red jenny? Who else goes after this life, let's have another for you let's go. Her friendship is also so sweet? For all her friends, I don't think she gets friend friends until she's with the inquisition. Also, I totally get how she talks, train of thought is relatable.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Dagna!!!! They are just so damn cute. I am also partial to her and my Asa.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Iron Bull. Mayhem. I also love her and Blackwall. She gets him. He gets her. Dick jokes.
My unpopular opinion about this character
She is perfect. And has a valid point. If there is a golden throne whats worse? An ass in it or it being empty? I also like that shes not an elfy elf. So many are doom gloom our lost cause. From like...over a thousand years ago. Can we grow pls
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I want to be a wingman on a Sera and Dagna date. Let me set up my explosions are for bonding lesbians.
Alistair
How I feel about this character
I was too old for Alistair when I first met him. He's a child. Literally. He's like 19. Thats a baby adult, the boy who didn't want to be king. Also i found this lone blossoming rose amongst the dead things so i took it..for being chantry raised he is not very understanding of miracles. And you gift him dolls. Why did duncan go oh yeah i'll take this one to probably die young. Like why dude. He could have left the chantry with alistair and been like okay here's 100 gold and go that way. You have a good sword arm, become a guard somewhere. Instead of feed the child blood... I also really hate how he treats Morrigan. Wtf man. And yes, she is mean back but to say he was inappropriate when they first met would be an understatement. I'd be a bitch to him to.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
No ships. Oops.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Wynne, he needs a mother. So badly. He needs cookies and hugs and stories. He may not be a child by age, but definitely by maturity.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Like. My whole ass opinion lol
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I want him and Leliana to discuss that rose lol but i want alistair to grow a spine. He doesn't want to be king. His uncle treated him like shit, tell him no? Walk out on that king deal? Like thats barring sparing loghain bc he does sorta grow a pair then but abandons his duty that supposedly means so much. Why couldn't he have been like nah Anora is the queen why should i take her spot? That i don't want?
Cassandra
How I feel about this character
I like that Cass is so Cass. Okay. She will fucking punch you in the face but also reads smut. I have found my people. She tries to right her wrongs, and the orders. She is also willing to eat her own words. She believes in people and goodness. While also maybe stabbing people. But she is also so naive? She believes Varric. Honey. Sweetie. He's full of shit and your full of shit meter is broken.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I don't really have a ship for Cass. Bear with me here, she is married to her work. She believes in it with every fiber in her soul. If she had to choose between romance and what she felt called to, what was right? She would let go of the romance. Which is supported by canon if you romance her and she becomes divine. Love only in glances. The world needs saving after all. And for cass it won't ever stop needing to be saved.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Cullen. She is a good influence on him, that he can do better if he tries, that he is better than he thinks. Also Dorian, their love of books would be a good start for a friendship. You know they read a lot of similar smut, especially if it's terrible. How else do you be mean to it.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I am angry she tried to murder my dwarf. We will go rounds lady. In her defense, I understand why she wanted to stove his head in lol and that's why I don't ship them. To antagonistic for me.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I am pretty happy with her canon.

1,4,10 for the Warde ; for Hawke,6,8,12 ❤️
The Warden
1.Wow this is a tough one it’s so long since I played Origin.
My very first Warden was a female City elf. I’m so bad at coming up with names I looked into my Tolkien Lexicon for cool name and decided on Elenya. So Elenya Tabris who did not want to be wedded to some bloke her father and elder had arranged for her. She definitely had some anger issues and a hostility against humans after her mothers death and was determined to master her mothers skills and then some. She grudgingly came to the wedding and did not make her husband to be feel welcome. After the whole Vaughan debacle (although she cherished killing those MoFos) she jumped on the chance to get out of the Alienage even if it meant to travel with a human. Duncan, Alistair, Leliana and Morrigan taught her that not all humans are garbage although Loghain and Howe were prime examples for why they are garbage. She did not romance anyone (at that time I did not know that you COULD romance anyone) let Morrigan and Alistair (her two BFFs) do the dark ritual and talked Alistair into becoming king. She slew the Archdemon and lived happily ever after.
After playing DA2 I rolled a play with a female Amell, because the thought of my Hawke and the Warden being related is a compelling one. Solanya Amell had no fucking problems with the Templars guarding her whatsoever. She loved the Circle as a place of learning. Of course she thought about the world outside, what it would be like, but she knew if she passed her Harrowing she would be able to travel around Thedas. Jowans betrayal hit her hard and she reluctantly agreed to go with Duncan. She took becoming a Warden and rallying everyone together to defeat the Blight as a challenge. She fell hard for Leliana (hands of Cullen) and they are still together through every hardship.
4.
Hm Elenya making humans uncomfortable. Train with Sten and learn Qunlat. Joke with Shale. See how fast she can make Alistair blush. Talk to Morrigan about her life. Listen to Leliana and Wynne’s stories. Drink Oghren under the table.
Solanya pretty much the same aside from kissing Leliana every chance she gets >3
10.
oops answered that already, but I have to say that I have human noble playthroughs were I romanced Alistair and that man is an absolute delight. I totally ship AlistairxCousland
Hawke
6.
Neither. Lothering was only another place where they stayed, because of his father and Bethany. And Kirkwall, first he stayed for his mother and sister. Then after his mother died the only thing keeping him there was Bethany. He thought about breaking her out and taking her and Fenris back to Ferelden.
8.
Aveline, Fenris, Varric and/or Sebastian it’s an all non-magic team thanks to portions. I fucking love portions!
12.
Absolutely! My Hawke learned the Qunlat Fenris knew. He tried to understand the Arishok, he was supportive of Saemus. He tried not to force his values and views on situations concerning the Qunari. And after hearing that the book was sacred to them he gave it back without questions (i.e. I befriended Isabela so that I could give it back) then fought the Arishok, because come on I put work into befriending Isabel!
