IT'S FINALLY OVER... this took considerably longer to draw than i'd hoped and it kinda tried to kill me a couple times but thats fine. got it done eventually, even if a few corners had to be cut for it to end.

this comic matters 2 me a lot mainly because Words herself is quite important to us, but also just because it's so experimental and took so much damn work. Just auuughh uughhh owww.

Yeah....Countercurrent was a surprise to me too! I posted the wip for wip wednesday and then just had the flow to keep going. I'm not trying to force Sticks oneshots (I don't force any of my writing really...save MoE five because it keeps trying to kill me in my sleep). They're meant to be shorter "break" peices that I can use to just sling my brain into the wall and see what words fall out.

You make a VERY good point about why on Earth the other GTW are singing along to Broadway’s version of Pure Imagination when the entire point of that scene is supposed to be that Charlie is the only kid that gets it. I really love the musical adaptation of CatCF for giving Charlie and Wonka more in common; the reason I love Simply Second Nature to death (and never forgave Broadway for cutting it) is that it makes it so abundantly clear that Willy Wonka is an artist at heart who loves what he does so much but had the greed and apathy of the world around him try to take his passion away from him, and how Charlie in the musical is just like that, a creative individual limited by the broken, greedy world we all live in. CatCF to me is a story about how the systems we live in stifle creativity and innovation but passionate people can come together to try and make the world a little brighter. It probably wasn’t written with this meaning in mind but SSN makes me feel like I’m not alone in this sentiment.

Also I am. Very very upset that Charlie’s Strike That Reverse It reprise never made it into any version of the show, given that it such a clever, unique story beat that establishes that Charlie has leadership skills instead of just being some passive kid and shows that there’s still a place in this world of dreams for the other four GTW even if they don’t quite understand the imagination aspect of it, and my dream CatCF production would probably use the West End script for the most part but replace A Little Me with this reprise (as I’ve always found ALM to be a filler song more than anything else)

Also also. The West End version ending makes me SO feral holy sparkles. The return of Willy’s ‘mysterious old man’ disguise’ from the first act, the way he leans on the fourth wall, nay, is implied to all all but step through it, just adds one extra touch of magic by taking full advantage of the fact that this is a stage production with a live audience, just. Utter perfection.

GOD sorry for replying to this so late!! Things got a bit busy for me but YEAH I'm incredibly glad you share the same sentiment with me on what this musical's about. The dynamic of two creatives in a world that either puts them down or discourages them I feel like IS very much intentional and it's at its absolute purest in the original 2013 version of the musical thanks to that song, not to mention the implications of being neurodiverse that I adore. Thinking about it more too, I think Charlie's character in the musical is my all time favorite take on him because of this, just as much as I think Hodge Wonka is the definitive version of HIS character. Not even gonna lie if you want to FULLY enjoy the original musical, I think it's a NECESSITY to put everything you know about the 1971 movie aside because seeing it through that lens alone really hinders you from picking that up.

Also! I listened to the Strike That Reverse It reprise just now, and honestly for someone who's listened to it maybe just once or twice in the past, I really see where you're coming from! It's MUCH better than A Little Me, and it really is a nice extra delve into Charlie's character if this play hasn't given us enough of that already. Granted I still think Candyman's nice for this part, but you're absolutely onto something.

And auuughh Wonka's disguise in the West End version my absolute beloved, and this is coming from someone who thought in the past that Wonka meeting Charlie in one way or the other prior to the actual tour couldn't be pulled off well.

Just wanted to say your content and posts about river ripple fueled me and my fiancés dive into dawn of the clans.
