The most difficult part of being in a relationship with Obi-Wan was navigating all the nat-born courting rituals outside of Cody's awareness. Given that most Jedi didn't go in for that sort of thing, it hadn't been covered in Cody's training.

Despite living together, Cody knew they had yet to go on a 'date.' Work piled up for both of them in the month after the war ended. However, Cody's research told him that Obi-Wan's invitation to dinner and a walk in Coruscant's arboretum that night meant they would tick that box soon.

The problem began when Cody's secretary started gossiping with one of the Coruscant guards. Sitting at his desk, he could hear the pair chattering in the hall. The guard was lamenting her limited wardrobe and that she had nothing to wear for her upcoming date. That set the wheels in Cody's head turning. Clothes weren't something that he thought about often, other than their usefulness in concealing a weapon. He still mostly wore his blacks and dress grays - though he had taken to borrowing Obi-Wan's robes on cold rainy evenings.

Cody frowned at the datapad in his hands. The romance holos that Rex had forced him to watch on shore leave last year flashed through his mind. His perfect memory recalled a detailed montage about picking a date outfit in each holofilm. He sighed, leaning back in his chair. Another nat-born ritual catching him off guard.

Not one to be defeated by a surprise attack, Cody did what he was born to do. He researched, analyzed, and planned an offensive maneuver accordingly. The holonet turned out some useful results.

After work, he took his list of holosite articles to the nearest department store, one he knew Fox frequented regularly. On encountering the barrage of fabrics and colors, he quickly consulted his references.

He wasn't sure he was the target demographic for any of these articles, but they helped. He tried on a dozen different outfits, the store attendant helping him sort through the clothing combinations. Some things were too itchy. Others were impractical if they ended up in a combat situation. Still others seemed ugly, even to Cody's limited understanding.

After much deliberation, Cody settled on something comfortable, reasonably priced, and recommended by the majority of his source articles. The attendant even complimented him on his choices. Feeling a strange mixture of confident and nervous, Cody took his spoils home to change.

The only thing left was to gauge the tactical success of his plan based on Obi-Wan's reaction.

I just heard another writer trying to figure out which self-publishing route to take, and all I'll say is that I'm glad I found Draft2Digital. (More accurately, I'm grateful to my more knowledgeable writer friends who told me about it a couple years ago.) I don't even use the free services as much now that I've learned to do fancy formatting etc on my own, but it sure is nice that the option is there.

TL;DR: you upload a manuscript, they make it presentable and available everywhere from Amazon to your local bookstore, and they charge you zero dollars, only taking a cut of the profits they helped you make. A small cut.

They are run by Writer People who want to help other Writer People succeed, and it shows.

Stop infantalizing people who are neurodivergent. Stop treating people who are neurodivergent with the same rules as neurotypicals and expect them to "get" it. Stop pretending to be allies to neurodivergent people who when they show their actual symptoms that aren't just quirky "tee hee hee I'm so random" tiktok coded bullshit, turn on them when it displays as the actual mental health problem that it is.

It's exhausting, to be honest.

Also: It is not a flex to be more functioning than someone else who is ND either. It is not a flex to be further along in recovery from any mental health trauma. It is not a flex to have more understanding of your condition than someone else who is also ND because you've been able to access therapy and tools to work with it.

The end of this season kinda had good timing so that I can have my brain back while doing a much of research trips. I won't be very responsive, but I'll still be chilling out on Tumblr here or there with randomness and updating the GiyuShino fic when I have nights back at home (and I'll go put up Chapter 5 soon if my brain doesn't give out). y'all i had such bad pain at work today it was unreal. my coworkers went to my manager and told her i needed to be sent home and even then i didn't know if i could drive myself. i sat in my car for 10 minutes trying to find a position comfy enough that i wouldn't pass out or throw up. i gripped my own hand so hard in the break room that my fingers left bruises. upon finding me doubled over my manager went "oh my god why didn't you say something??" and i said "i wanted to make it through the busy part of the day." she didn't love that answer

So apparently crawling around Bogano on JFO knocked some of my art brain weasels back onto their wheels, apparently, just... not in the direction I was planning to go right now? Anyway started a doodle page, so have some cropped finished doodles I liked of my Consular as a teenager with her... second I think? Jedi Master. She had a handful of them and I'm tired and can't be bothered to count at the moment. But Blankuna was the one that got her into archaeology and miiiiight have been her favorite out of all of them. ❤
