Points at you. Talk about Crimson. I know you do a lot already so you dont have to but. If you have any thoughts on him that you havent found a reason to talk about yet, do it now. Or don't. I'm not your dad. Okay thanks! Explodes
I had a whole thing on a topic ive been meaning to elaborate on relating to crimson for a while typed up to answer this but got scared. So. Instead im gonna say that while he's constrained by the inherent team of the smash pokemon trainer and i love mandoor funbox and who in my heart crimson would be a poison type specialist. "Not dark type?" no its not slime enough

Okay. Alright. Here we fucking go again.
S2E4.
I already have one spoiler I'm completely unsurprised by, let's make it more.
I survive the LAST TIME ON HALO and my increasing desire to not be doing this right now, and am rewarded with one of this show's only endearing qualities: Vannak's ongoing animal guy personality trait. He gets to feed the pigeons for 2 seconds before the explosions start.
Cut to Perez and Jimmy Rings running through the streets while Perez yells about having to get back to her family and Jimmy yells about how they're gone, Perez! (Also sorry I'm going back to calling him Jimmy Rings because I hate having to distinguish him from actual Chief and might as well do it in the most ridiculous way possible.)
Then we immediately jump to Soren and Halsey in the funbox.
Did you know that one of my least favorite things TV shows do is cliffhanger on a situation that could've been interesting, then ~subvert your expectations~ by making it completely uninteresting and resolving nothing?
Yeah.
Gold star, no notes.
Then the power goes out.
Soren just kinda leaves because the security system's off. Bye!!!
Meanwhile again, Perez is very upset for obvious reasons and has a disagreement with Jimmy about what they should be doing. Jimmy wants to go back to FLEETCOM, while Perez wants to start warning everyone to evacuate RIGHT NOW.
Perez this isn't gonna work I'm sorry.
Anyway.
Suddenly Stealth Elite.
Sorry it's so hard to get caps of these guys, I think the sfx people don't want you to look at 'em too close.
On the bright side, Halsey leaving with Soren shows they do have a chance of unlocking the comedy duo power I believed in.
Back again.
They're really trying to speedrun some shit here.
Like, this is so close to being in character (even though it isn't quite) but the problem is that they want to have this character say so much shit when the guy they have been trying so badly to emulate doesn't open up and it feels unearned/not worked up to. The problem with trying to crack open a character like the actual Master Chief is that it requires a ton of space and focus on doing that, and this project is so full of subplots and has scrapped so much of its own first season that it has even LESS time to develop enough rapport for me to not feel like I'm being hit over the head. Like I get it, I write insane shit with Chief trying to figure out how to communicate with people after he's decided he might be okay with it, but this just doesn't work for me.
This could work, but it kinda came in from the factory pre-bungled.
Anyway.
Jimmy Rings walking around this random building they're escaping through while holding a fucking axe he found is so funny to me.
Speaking of the axe, it's apparently an antique!!! And this random building is a shop belonging to a British lady and, suddenly, we are going full WWII stiff-upper-lip blitz speech.
Fuck, hold on, I need another post for full effect-

Tea Games
A/N: For @trgdaily August Theme: Rose
Saw @funuya's wonderful Tea Take and Good Good Games art and promptly combusted, here's what remains of me
He’d never wondered what was behind the hedge.
Ryuu had everything he wanted on this side, all the smooth slopes and tricky rails that he could spend infinity doing tricks on. Sure, he and Mitsuki had started out with only a funbox in the beginning but now that the city had splurged for a bowl and there was talk of upgrading to a cradle and there was Touma and Iori joining, the park was a concrete paradise and Ryuu would’ve gone the rest of his life being satisfied with their curved wonderland, if he hadn’t gone crashing through the hedge.
Green whipped at his arms, tearing through his jacket even as he tried to twist free. Before he fell into it, he’d never noticed any thorns but they were hard to ignore now as they dug into his skin in burning lines. Scrambling to his feet, Ryuu squinted against the wall of branches and pushed his way back towards the light.
Finally bursting free, he stumbled from the sudden lack of resistance and found himself falling for the second time in only so many minutes. A hard edge hit his side, the ledge he must’ve wiped out on, returning for a round two.
Except this time, the ledge moved.
A cacophony of clinking and crashing, a shout, and a softer landing than he was expecting. Ryuu blinked, blades of grass brushing his cheek, and looked up into a vision of pink and blue.
“What are—Who are you?” The voice was indignant, but the hand that touched Ryuu’s shoulder was gentle and he’d expected the world to right itself when he sat up, but if anything it only flipped further upside down as he stared at the stranger and his table.
Teacups. So delicate they looked to have been made of moonlight, molded into the shape of tulips and lilies, a beehive teapot with convincing honey dripping down its side, and that didn’t even include the food. Pastries in every color, puffed to perfection and now crushed underneath him, cake smeared across the grass to feed the ants for months to come, spun sugar shattered to precious pieces. And in the middle of it all, a prince dressed in ribbons and roses.
“Are you hurt?” Even his gestures were princely, down on one knee and a finger under Ryuu’s chin, gazing at him with such intense scrutiny Ryuu wished he wasn’t dripping with tea and covered in frosting.
“I’m fine,” he said after a moment, followed by a hiss as he put weight on his elbow.
The prince pulled Ryuu’s arm aside with more strength than he expected, fingers grazing the cut underneath the rip in his jacket. “You’re bleeding.”
“It’s nothing, it’ll stop in a second.” Ryuu shrugged out of his sleeve and wiped the blood with his shirt, it was smaller than he’d expected from the prince’s reaction, and he’d had far worse, he wouldn’t even need a bandaid.
“But—”
“I’m better off than your…”
“Rose Banquet.”
“Right. Just you?” Ryuu could see chairs stacked to the side, but no one else was in sight. The prince looked back at the hedge, a noticeable hole now gaping from the pristine greenery.
“No, but the others are coming soon. You should go.” Grasping his uninjured arm, the prince helped Ryuu to his feet, the proximity leaving Ryuu swimming in the sweetest fragrance he’d ever encountered. He didn’t want to go, as unfamiliar and unexpected his journey had been, his curiosity was already taking root. Had the prince been here all along, just a few leaves over from where Ryuu practiced his ollies? What was the Rose Banquet for? And why did he have a new favorite smell?
The prince pushed him towards the hedge, hat askew and ribbon coming undone though Ryuu didn’t think it ruined his image. “Hurry!”
Ryuu turned back as he stepped into the hedge, covering the prince’s hand on his arm and holding them together for a moment. “I’m not dreaming, right?”
Laughing, the prince shook his head. “I didn’t think you hit your head, but you should have one of your friends check. Now go!”
“Wait, you’ve heard—” New voices drifted through the garden and the prince pulled back with one last look at Ryuu, a smile still playing across his mouth.
Ryuu retreated deeper amongst the branches, letting the hedge engulf him completely. The last trace of that magical meeting was the prince’s voice saying, “It’s my fault, there was a wasp…”
Returning to the yellow of the skatepark, Ryuu found himself missing the green, even as Touma landed next to him with a shout of concern. How had he never wondered what the hedge hid, until now?

Honestly I'd give my kid iPad. Not all the time but I don't see how it's any different from how I got a portable DVD player on road trips or a "drawing suitcase" at resteraunts.
I'd limit the functions of it to pre-downloaded movies, a couple of 2d games, maybe an art program.
No internet, no YouTube, nothing unsupervised. Just a specialty digital funbox to give them in line or something.

Whenever the whole “Tau have to get mandated pregnancy” is brought up wrt to Human/Tau ships it’s usually presented as something tragic for the human, but I kinda wish people dug into that?
As in like, do the sexual politics of the Tau treat sex as something you just do for procreation rather than recreation, or do they just see sex as not that special and likewise don’t understand why humans get so bent out of shape when their partners have mandated breeding time?
Personally I would rather see more of Tau being casual about sex and treating it as not that important to their relationships. Because yeah, it’s fun and all, but it’s also just something they have to do for procreation and everyone has to do it, it doesn’t mean anything to them or have any impact on their relationships with someone else.
#a lot of this is motivated by my desire to subvert how people protray tau as stereotypical anime girls#so they’re either nymphomaniacs or clueless stuttering anime girls who don’t understand why the Gue’la are groping them#I also just kinda wish people didn’t constantly center the human (and often the man’s) tragedy lol#like ‘oughhh…. i got cucked…… my manhood is death’ and his gf is telling him that it’s really not that big of a deal -#- And she told him this was gonna happen anyway#funbox posts#Tau

A quick follow-up to this post about accessibility and sending professional email:
The message templates I mentioned aren't available in mobile Gmail at this point, but you can still set up email templates and save them as Drafts.
When you need a quick text/template/sentence frame, click on Drafts in the sidebar and copy/paste from the relevant draft. Subject lines are visible in message drafts, so you can use that line to name your templates if you have a bunch and use them regularly.
And speaking of mobile writing, there are a lot of people, again of all ages, whose phone is their primary device. They might have access to another device at work or through school, but the device they own, where they have an expectation of privacy, is their smartphone, and if they learned how to touch-type on a standard computer keyboard they might struggle to write fluently or quickly on their phone, which could result email that sounds less than professional.
If that's the case, speech-to-text is going to be helpful, but that method is far from perfect, and might feel awkward in spaces that aren't private. My suggestion is to practice typing on the screen.
I do a lot of writing on my phone, and I know there are other people with really fast fingers out there, but for those of you who struggle with this and want to increase your wpm and accuracy on your phone, I've got some tips!
Adust the height of your keyboard and the size of the keys. Gboard does this and there are some other useful settings like editing-mode, clipboard functions, and a text scanner. Gboard is great, but make sure to be aware of and adjust your privacy settings as appropriate.
Go into keyboard settings and adjust vibration and haptics to so there's a slight vibration when keys are pressed. (I have pop-up on key press enabled too and I think it makes me more accurate.)
Adjust your body position so you're comfortable, and ensure that you're holding your phone far enough away from your body that you can see the typing area and the whole keyboard while you type.
Sit to type whenever possible, and rest your hands and forearms on something that elevates your phone slightly so you're not folding forward over it. Ergonomics is especially important on mobile. Don't hurt yourself!
Turn down your screen's brightness and/or use a night mode setting so you don't exhaust your eyes.
Practice! We've tried a few typing programs with students, most of them paid, but I recommend MonkeyType because it's free, fun, and works well on mobile. If you try it and decide to create an account, go to settings and adjust test time to your preference. If you're not sure start with 2-5 minutes. Play with the Funbox settings to customize the test, and see if you can beat your best score for speed and accuracy. You can customize the keystroke sound too! Some of them are really annoying!
Take breaks, stretch, flex your fingers, rotate your wrists!
Apps for mobile writers (my favorites):
Proton Drive has a free version with a few GB of storage
Markor is a free offline text editor for Android. It supports markdown and is customizable, and sharing from Markor to other apps is simple and fast.
Obsidian is another markdown editor with a free version, is cross-platform, has options to sync files across devices, and supports organization of notes with tagging and linking.
Personal Dictionaries. On Android this is literally called "personal dictionary" in settings, and on iOS I think it lives under the autocorrect setting. Depending on what you're writing, proactively adding words like proper nouns to your personal dictionary instead of waiting for autocorrect to learn them will improve your typing speed!
There are tons of apps and cloud storage out there and I haven't tried most of them, but those are the apps I feel most comfortable using.
iOS has a built-in notes app but apparently a recent update made it hard to use? (I don't have an iPhone but this was an issue for someone in my family who said it takes forever to open now. I hope they fix that because so many people rely on it.)
If you have a Google account, Keep Notes is pretty reliable but as far as I can tell the note "file" seems to be indistinguishable from a Google Doc -- every note in Keep has an option to move it to Google Docs -- so if you use Google Docs for writing this might be ideal. I don't use Docs for personal writing because I have to use it for work, but it's reliable and easy to use on mobile.
Please reply or reblog if you know of any mobile writing apps that are easier for everyone to use, more reliable, or have better privacy/encryption options.

Ask Game Time! your choice of any or all of the Cods - 2, 6, 12, 23
Oh i LOVE talking about these guys i'll gladly do all of them, although i may leave prism for another time or perhaps another ask. I'll be going in order of age
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
Cobalt: why do you have custom t-shirts printed for when you need to shame somebody. Bro? Joke answer aside, Cobalt's Big Fuckup with mark's universe and his terrible date with HB and how he handles them adds so much to his character to me
Chartreuse: i love how kind she is and yet how pragmatically brutal she also is. These traits give eachother texture in a way that make her very entertaining. Chartreuse genuinely asking Dr. Order her motives for doing everything she did knowing full well that it would both reveal her identity and the day would end with Order exiled to her death in the distant past of another world is something that is so interesting to me
Crimson: ive gushed before about the arc of Crimson's character, the gradual metafictional evolution from 'flat contextless eldritch monster villain' to 'some miserable tragic disaster of a person with too much power and yet none at all reacting completely understandably badly (although not always justifiably) to genuinely horrifying circumstances' is so good, i love how the trickle of information grows heavier and heavier as the show goes on after two seperate seasons of wanting to shake him upside down by the ankles until an actual motive falls out of his pockets
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
.......i mean. the blunt answer is a very particular kind of primary parental figure for all three of them. but if i ever seem like i have a hard time having a balanced (hah) perspective on Cobalt its because he reminds me heavily of myself (or at least my perception of myself in retrospect) in middle school but hes a grown man and hes Still Like That. and it makes me see red and want to shake some goddamn sense into him and attack him with hammers maybe so as you can imagine my feelings about him are volatile and complicated and less impartial than id like them to be,
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Cobalt: I think he's a heavy reader when he's not meditating or training-as-meditation. he strikes me as a 'nose-in-a-book and ignoring you' type as far as his media habits go.
Chartreuse: based partly on folk complimenting her mashed potatoes i think Chartreuse and Folk are a beautiful example of the cooking/baking dichotomy. Folk can barely grill a cheese and has been eating soup out of a can for years and chartreuse will turn up baking disasters that leave you confused as to how its even possible to fuck up that bad. but folk can turn out a catering quality souffle and chartreuse, despite never really Needing to eat before (and certain food crimes of the nutter butter variety) is picking up cooking for herself really quickly!
Crimson: i forget all the time all my opinions about funbox mandoor and who are headcanons. Funbox is a girl and she's plucky and spoiled and also the boss of the other two. Theyre, personality-wise, a goon squad to me. Funbox is the boss mook, mandoor and who are a big guy small guy duo. dbz noncanon movie disposable henchgang style its the pretty one the big idiot and the tiny weird one. In direct inverse to johannsen having rose-colored glasses on about dani and her strength, funbox and the boys know full-well crimson is a loser which is WHY they feel the need to protect him with their lives 👍
23. Favorite picture of this character?
If i remember i will answer this question later when i am not at work and have more time to rifle around for them !
#my cobalt thoughts are shallower than id like them to be but in my defense he has the least screentime#will answer the other one later
