Can a concept from Language and Literature transform how we assess learning in Physical and Health Education?
Can a concept from Language and Literature transform how we assess learning in Physical and Health Education? A few weeks ago, I observed my colleague teaching Grade 8 as part of something we call SNAPSHOT at our school. He was teaching textual analysis, and I was particularly impressed with all aspects of the lesson, especially the concept of the perfect paragraph. During the observation, IâŠ

heya, it seems like you're an myp 5 student right now. I'm not the best person to give you advice (dp2 student) but I can pass on what every school i've been to has made us do.
make a list of things of potential areas of focus; subjects you enjoy or do well in, hobbies, global issues, and new topics you find interesting are all good places to get started. you don't have to choose a career from these options, but this will give you some ideas to get started.
brainstorming what you want from a job. money? focusing on a subject you like? helping others? these are all valid options, and might steer you towards a certain field.
what do you not want to do? what's a job or subject you just do not want to get involved with?
if possible, talk to some adults around you. your guardians, your teachers, etc. what do they like about their job? how did they decide on this career? how did they get there?
my schools also made us do a bunch of career and personality quizzes. did they help me? not really! but it might help you.
research job descriptions. ones you like, ones you have no interest in, ones you already know about, etc., etc. you might find something interesting! I found this list of job descriptions on liveabout which might help: https://www.liveabout.com/career-briefs-52586
For me, it went like this:
I've always been interested in the environment. I have some hobbies but I honestly can't see myself making a career out of them. botanical gardens are the love of my life. I did well in science, particularly biology. I also like writing. i am Not a physically strong person.
money would be lovely. I want to do something good for the world. i honestly didn't know how to answer this. I was 14, dude, come on.
i hated economics for some reason. i hadn't even taken the subject before, but I just didn't want to get involved. fine, no econ for me then.
talked to my parents. they both went into their careers because that's what their parents did.
those career and personality quizzes showed me things I already knew; I'm introverted, personality quizzes take too long, and entrepreneurship sounds like Hell.
I learned that there are many fancy job titles which all seem like the same thing. but it was definitely fun learning about different scientific jobs!
I used these to narrow down my ideas for my future. honestly, I still have no idea what I want to do. What I do know is that I like biology, and I want to study biology at university, so that's what I'm preparing for. I'm interested in ecology and plant biology, but I think uni might let me explore all the different fields that exist within biology and help me better understand what I'll do with my existence.
What do I become in future?
Ik this is a random out of no where question but I need some advice on like how to decided my career path
#reblogging this to get you more exposure#international baccalaureate#ib myp#ib diploma programme#studying#ib student#this might help or not idk#i amso fucking hugnry and cold rn sorry for word vomiting on your post op

i was just using my shorthand citations so far and finally (admittadly late) looked over what my supervisor wants me to use. girl kill yourself. why use any of the citation styles that exist when you can make up whatever you want
#ngl. at least when they started drilling harvard style into my little 13yo head it was for the purpose of me actually using it in myp and ib#but my uni made me go through a fucking graded course on bibliography bc ppl my age still used a wikipedia link a a source#and literally none of it is useful to anyone bc your supervisor hands you a page with unlabeled examples like its some logic exercise#and now its on meeeeee to work out what the fuck this is.#ind.

Girll ur leaving???? đą will miss reading your writing
Will u still be here to talk and stuff? Totally understand if u want to distance urself good luck with IB!!!!!!
im not like officially leaving but I stopped posting frequently a long time ago đ i still write it's just that nobody Here will be interested bcs its just oc stuff but ya I will be here to talk and stuff bcs i like yapping and listening to other ppl yap
and thank u !! its actually pretty fun till now I just hope my school speeds up w the portions bcs we're still p slow on that I wanna finish my ias up so bad bro đ
but other than that there is also the issue of there being a lack of communication or moreso lack of resources given to us to help us on our research-based assignments like idk maybe it's because I'm coming from a board that always gives its students a crutch and ib is very researched based but I and a lot of my peers are lost on how exactly we're supposed to draft our ias or our ees etc etc đ we didn't come from myp we're literally the first dp batch and even tho the teachers r kind and teach well I'd still like to know their plan on how to help us on our cas hours etc
#honestly the adjustment will be so ass bcs i literally switched from cbse#rote learning and memorising q&as to this....đ but tbh after the pandemic we switched to a more concept learning style so yayy#but apparently our eng is ass like our current eng teacher has ib experience so she was like u guys are at myp 2 level whem it comes to +#answering questions#but she was also like dw I'll help yall through it#i have the blessing of stuying in a school where the teachers are kind so yippeee#this ks also just me btw but i feel unsure ofthe language we're supposed to use once our exams begin bcs obvs ib vocab is diff#ik theres keywords n shit and no rote memorization but honestly looking at a prev year's question paperand a topper's answer sheet +#would help . so much .

I swear to FUCKING God I'm gonna kms /nsrs (but I'm still angry
Okay so like everyone who's also in the ib/myp program will also understand my frustration
Quick explanation of grading, grades range from 1-8 but go in levels of 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8. 1-2 being a fail, 3-4 barely passing, 5-6 pretty good, and 7-8 being "you must be amazing at school"
So my science teacher, I'll call her Mrs. G, I had to submit this rates of reaction lab report and I did, but I made an error and accidentally only submitted the bar chart on the rates of reaction section thing on managebac and she let me know and we follow through with the stuff blah blah blah
So she unlocks managebac but I see she only unlocked the current unit's section and not the previous unit's (previous unit being the rates of reaction one) and im trying to tell her she only unlocked the current unit but she isn't listening to me and so I submit the lab report on the unlocked section and I SHOWED i submitted it on that section, and she knows it.
Next few days, guess what? That (i don't want to be rude but she REALLY frustrates me so I'm afraid I have to in order to be expressive) BITCH fucking gives me a 2 because she looked back at the section she KNOWS she didn't unlock and only graded the graph I uploaded even though she LITERALLY SAW me post my work on a different section, then she sends me an email saying that I need to resubmit my lab report even though she saw me do it and I of course send her an email back saying I already did and explaining it to her its in a different section, trying not to sound angry in the email
I FUCKING HATE HER OH MY GOD SHE IS UGHHH

Queen Margaret College has 100 yearsâ experience in delivering world class education to girls. We are an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School known for delivering outstanding academic results. Our curriculum promotes multilingualism, intercultural understanding and global engagement, broadening perspectives and bringing new experiences to learning.
We offer dual-curriculum pathways for seniors, meaning they have a unique opportunity to choose the type of education they receive, depending on their individual strengths, interests and learning styles.
Senior school students in Years 11 -13 are given the choice of two academic pathways, NCEA or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD).
In Year 11, students sit NCEA Level 1 as the foundation course for the dual qualification pathway before they make a decision.
NCEA stands for National Certificate of Educational Achievement is New Zealandâs qualification for Year 11-13 students. It is a standards-based assessment combining a mix of both internal and external assessments. At QMC girls have the opportunity to study levels 1-3 of NCEA. Credits are awarded as Achieved, Merit or Excellence.

The IB Learner profile is a set of learning outcomes that go beyond academic success. The profile aims to develop learners who are knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective. Learners are encouraged to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators and risk takers.
The IB model includes six academic subject groups that students study concurrently. Students study six subjects selected from the subject groups. Normally three subjects are studied at a higher level and the remaining three subjects are studied at standard level.
There are three core requirements that are central to the philosophy of the IB Diploma; The Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay (EE).
Our academic success is outstanding. QMC is proud to have a 100% pass rate for eight out of the nine years since the IB Diploma was introduced. This is even more impressive as, unlike many schools, QMC does not preselect students on academic ability. Our average is 36. Our continuous data tracking closely monitors student progress, and extra academic support is given if required.
