I also decided to have some more ThoughtsTm  about this so massive ramble warning under the cut

3Way Stop&Shop ;

So this whole idea started out with a love for Jazz and Dani, and my massive Ghostlights hyper fixation at the time. The original idea for the story was gonna be the three kids each having their own story merging into one big one. I feel the basics for Jazz and Dani can be sused out pretty easily by their designs but I had a lot of haphazard ideas I still kinda wanna get into. 

Let's start with Danny cuz poor boi didn't get a design here. 

Danny Fenton / Phantom / White Rabbit 

Danny is sent to his 'Aunty Anna' place (Zatanna) while his parents un-ghost proof the hose to make it actually livable for Danny. In this au Zatanna is a close cousin of Jacks and after learning about Danny's most recent life (or unlife) events she gets the Fenton Parents to see a different side of ghosts and fully accept Danny as he is.

While Danny is living with Zatanna he learns some astrology type magic thing bc of a star/space core idk and helps her on missions. To avoid drama with necromancers he goes by the name White Rabbit and tries to stay out of his ghost form as much as possible.

So, originally this was gonna be a Ghostlights story,, and still might be if I ever make it because I them so much <3  But Duke and Danny's part of the story was going to be some type of horror romance plot where Duke is desperate to get the job done while Danny is mostly dicking around in the bg giving tips that range from wildly unhelpful to surprisingly useful.

There was gonna be a whole plot line of Danny working with Catwoman for a bit to get some cursed artifact and Signal would show up every time to stop him, a sort of cat and mouse chase to mirror Batman and Catwoman.

Tho in this Selina was gonna pull a 180 and start fucking Zatanna soooooo

Danny was in Gotham to help Zatanna with something about Xanthe Zhou and run away spirits, but I was always conflicted because I just didn't know if I understood Xan well enough to do them justice. 

Danielle Fenton-Allen / Eldridge / Argo

Dani gets adopted by the Speedsters! YAYYY!! 

She has a wondering / lighting core which makes her seem a lot like one of the Speedsters. This, of course, is enough for her to be adopted almost instantly. She lives with Wally West and Linda Park as a sort of trial kid before they end up fully committing to having Jai and Irey. 

As a Speedster she was going to take the mantle of Argo, not yet feeling fully confident in taking the name Kid Flash, still too used to being burned by other families. 

Her ghost // 'villain' name was Eldridge, and she was going to be the "'arch-nemesis"' to Damian and Jon... This was going to be a DanixDamixJon au. I'm not so sold on the idea anymore, like it's a cute ship, Dani just already got a lot going on for her and if Danny is already in Gotham their stories would cross too soon. I feel I can keep her as friends to Damian and Jon as Argo to keep her closer to the found family idea I was going for. Honestly now that I'm thinking about it it could be very cute and a step closer to their own Holy Trio that each generation seems to have lol. Maybe even age up Lizzie (? I think is her name, I probs should double check that it's been a minute) and give them their own Core Four.

Anyways, I thought the name Eldridge was cute and very her own, and while I think I could make it work it's also very sweet to still have her sharing Danny's title (+ it can be used for spirit summoning shenanigans if need be ;})

I think I had the strongest idea about what I wanted to do with Dani, it was just a bit too much, a bit too everywhere. I already like the idea of Jon, Dami, and Dani just being mission friends more, and it makes more sense then trying to find a buncha excuses as to why Damian or Jon are always in each other's cities. 

Jasmine 'Jazz' Fenton / Dazzle

Jazz, the design, the wild card, the ✨Vibes✨

Jazz is the one who came to me the easiest,,, which was the problem. I had so many ideas for her I was just throwing shit at the wall to see what stuck. 

I had characters that were just hero friends (Kyle Rayner & K'tten), just college friends (Jules Jourdain -at least until The Reveal- & Raquel Ervin), and a bunch of rando villains (Essence, Rendll, Marque). As much fun as a storyline with each of these guys can be,, maybe all at once isn't the best idea. 

The main concept for Jazz was her trying to handle the stress of work/school and coming to terms with the fact that she can't plan out her whole entire existence in highschool expecting it to work out perfectly. I would still love to keep that, having her switch quickly from neurosurgeon, to therapy, to finally letting go and choosing someone like childhood development maybe as she realizes she has to make compromises to truly help people. 

That's also the reason I made her a Star Sapphire. I feel a lot of people lump every Sapphire together (which tbf a lotta DC writers do that to) but they aren't all driven by romantic/sexual love. There are many types of love out there. For Jazz it was her love for her family and need to help people. She saw how much her family was putting themselves at risk, how her siblings have already died or never even got the chance to fully live, and she wanted to do something about that. This was that something. 

I think instead of giving Jazz all these people to lean back on, she'd kinda isolate herself and for a long while it's just Kyle as a Green Lantern helping her out with Earth. He's a big support, but he's also just one guy so for a long time Jazz is determined to figure everything out one her own. It definitely makes things easier on me, I was reaching for some of those guys lol. 

Also whoever came up with the ring as a hairtie idea fucks severely and I desperately wish I had written who it was down somewhere. Anyways, who ever you are you're a real one✊

Those were the basics of the au, very rough, very much just a bunch of notes lol. I think this could actually be a pretty good idea once brushed up quite a bit but it does have some good foundations. I just need to figure out which ones are unnecessary. 

Like most of the other fics I think of this was going to be written, but I'm working on a comic for another DC crossover and I'm quite liking the process. I think a lot can be improved by cutting the scale of this whole thing and one good way to do that is to make it a comic lol. 

I'll let this keep turning in my mind to see if anything comes of it. People are more than welcome to use any of these ideas if they so please,, it was already a Frankenstein of ideas I don't really have a claim on anyways lmao.

I just had a thought that another nickname that Captain Crybaby could have given to Kyle was Mistofolees (like the character from the Cats Musical) because in the Musical Mistofolees is the one who brings the cats' leader back and Kyle was the one who brings the corps back

My Hal might not know the reference on his own, but he likes to learn about his neices and nephews interests so he can talk to them about it, especially when they were younger so maybe he learned through one of them (we can blame Helen)!

I'm gonna add this to my Kyle nicnames list tbh. For those of you that don't know, in my fic Fear and What Follows, I mention that each Earth Green Lantern has a nickname because if multiple of them are on the same mission they can't all go by Green Lantern and useing their names would reveal their identites and i do NOT like how DC handles secret identies (WHY ARE THEY YELLING EAROTHERS NAMES IN THE STREETS????). It also based off of military nicknames, which you usually get for silly reasons.

Other names I was thinking of for Kyle's nickname were

because he's an artist! would've been given to him by Dinah while he is on the League instead of Hal and just something that everyone calls him before the id reveal, and is also a cool nod to him becoming a White Lantern later!

Pretty Boy

he's my rat guys. and alley and his ring and- didn't end up useing it because Sinestro calls him ally rat.

Gromit

my friends idea! Bc he fights with Wally a lot (before they become friends ofc) and Wally is Wallace so Kyle gets to be Gromit. He's gonna be jokingly called this in my au but its not like an official nickname

Four

the fourth green lantern! Originally in my au they were gonna be differentiated by number but the nicknames are cooler and sillier

Spaceboy

he was gonna get this one from Donna and it would just kinda stick.

Trouble

This was the top contender because he is a trouble magnet! Went with Torchie in the end, but i got to use Trouble in a different Au so im happy bc I really like this one!

Guy was gonna be Souless (because he's a red head) before I went with One Hit and Hal was almost Highball (his airforce call sign) or Captian Weepy (the double C sounded better so I changed it), but everyone else I went with the first thoughts cz i did like them (Braincell for Jess, Vroom for Simon, Teeny Bopper/Teeny for Keli) but John it took me a long time to come up with Problem Child/pc. Still trying to think of Jo's (I rlly have to read far sector i'm a failure).

Are there any individual issues/short sections of the Tom Taylor Nightwing run you'd say are still worth checking out as little standalone/self contained things? I've read and enjoyed the 2021 annual (blood brothers) after seeing enough about it on tumblr but don't know much about the rest, and you've mention individual issues in other rec posts so it got me curious (and it's completely fine if you don't think you can recommend any).

i'll preface all of this by saying, if you're interested in reading his run, you should. other people disliking a run is like...idk if this is going to make sense, but it's kind of like knowing the weather. you'll be like "hey, there's rain" and then you can either a) choose not to go outside, b) grab a coat and umbrella, or c) pull on a swimsuit and go dance. no wrong choices! maybe you get outside and it's more of alight drizzle, or maybe it's basically a tropical storm and you book it back inside and start batting down the hatches.

i could present you with people who's overall taste in comics i agree with who hate and love this run- actually, i was super hyped to read this run bc most of the people i'd talked to were like "OMG ITS SOOOO GOOD!!" and i was like "OKAY!!!" and then i was like 😗👉👈 maybe idk what good comics are?? (baby comic-reading cue felt wayyyy to new to the genre to trust their own opinions lmao. we're mostly past that now.)

but okay!! to answer your question: so post issue #91 is where my overall enjoyment of the run went like *imitates plane falling and crashing noises*. which. upon skimming from 78 to 91, i don't think i can say i was loving it that whole time, more like my tolerance threshold maxed out around there. bc uh. skimming i was like...yikes. i've also read way more Nightwing comics since, so like that could be factor.

ANYWAYS. me being nice:

#80 has some decent dick and tim!

#89 opens with a nice batman/superman/nightwing story, honestly can't remember if i liked the two-issue mini, but i'm going to guess i didn't bc even though i just looked i recall ✨nothing✨

#90-91 is a fun dick and wally adventure, if i remember correctly???? wally stans don't shoot me, i haven't read a whole lot of him idk if he's written well here i'm sorry

#111-112 is decent. it's not like. groundbreaking. but yk. maybe i just liked it more than the stupid pirate arc and maybe my standards are low and Good Dad Bruce is a weak spot, IDK

the Hug is in issue #100, which is a bigger to celebrate 100 issues, and it happens later, i think it's the third story? some people love that scene, others can't stand it, i am a whore for soft batfam moments so it's very precious to me, and also nice moments make bad ones hurt more what?

if you like dickbabs you might enjoy more issues too, i was neutral about dickbabs and this run made me...not neutral. but i've heard from people that do like dickbabs that they don't like how they're written here so also, maybe you won't like it even if you like dickbabs??

but yeah!! these are my not-hated TT nightwing issues. i think there are a decent amount where i liked a line or panel here or there, but like overall most of it is just...not my fave. but you could like it!! which, i feel like it's worth saying that it's totally valid if you end up engaging with the run more and liking it. you wouldn't be the only person in the world to like it. but it's also ending in 4 issues thank god, so um don't get too attached if you end up digging it lmao

the red hood annual is also the annual i've liked for this run, i actually love that issue sm lol. the second annual is all about the Lamest Most Scariest Villain Ever, boring, and then the most recent was all about bea, dick's love interest in his ric era, which i was excited for...and hated. that one isn't even on TT, tho. travis moore your gorgeous dick is not enough to redeem you on that one. WAIT I DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT-

UNWANTED BONE what if this was my last straw. ohhh thinking forever about how he sees you thriving without him and gets an eye twitch. texts you while you're out with your friends just to prove to himself he's still got you wrapped around his finger and can derail your whole evening with a single text. the smugness. the territorialness. he's a master at giving you just enough to keep you stuck. thinking about him being SO loving and tender when you're having a hard time, and it's not exactly that he's thinking about how if he wasn't so tender at this vulnerable moment, you might get fed up and actually cut him off. but it's like. in his mind. he's cooing at you so sweetly and watching the clock over your shoulder calculating how much he has to comfort you to keep you from crashing out and never speaking to him again.

it's just like him to not even let you ice him out. you try to pick up your self-respect and he's all hurt. why you gotta be so cold with him. he's got so much going on and he still made time to come see you. and then you're back on your knees where he likes you again and the cycle repeats lmao

"as genuine as it is calculated" is the through-line of dick's characterization for me. such a good way to put it

realistically this would end with him stringing you along forever until he finds a bone he likes better but god. i like seeing him suffer. so badly want to see him try to claw his way out of this situation into a real, actual relationship. any way it plays out is so fun to me.

you're eager and invested and loving? he's simultaneously kicking himself for being a distant asshole for so long and thinking nostalgically about when you had no claim to him and he could disappear on you with no explanation for weeks.

my favorite though is imagining a sort of. uh-huh. sure. whatever you say, dick. he burned you so bad you don't have nerve endings anymore, so it doesn't matter whether he's suckerpunching you or kissing your ankles. not even checked out, really, you just don't really expect anything of him. he keeps his word and shows up for you and woos you the way he said he would? sure, we can fuck until you inevitably get called away again. he can't keep his word? no reaction. no hurt. just shrugging like his absence or presence are the same to you. i think he would have to be really obsessed to stick with this one bc it's tailor-made to hit all his insecurities and traumas but i just really enjoy the idea of him having to claw his way back into your good graces and be constantly aware of how low your expectations are of him. even if he does win you over, he knows you're always kind of expecting him to stand you up on your anniversary dinner. it's what he deserves

FKDSJF my goddd. okay no spoilers because i haven't finished writing that part yet and everything is subject to change but i have to say. you always pay the price for what you do, mr. grayson, even when you don't really know what it is you're doing. (also this song is on the birdwatcher playlist and there is a good two to three chapters where i'm taking the lyrics "i can't let go / i don't know how / i can't go home / i love you now [...] i can't go home / i want everything now" (dick pov) very seriously.)

he does want to be so good, is the thing. and he works at it and he picks it back up even when he fails at it and it is his life's mission to do good even if it's just a a little, just for one person. "if i can stop one heart from breaking i shall not live in vain" and so on and so forth. it's just like you say. it's not about being a Good Guy it's about doing good. the right thing. what really matters. it's a lofty goal and he makes it practical and mundane and not easy, but achievable. he is genuinely admirable to me.

which might seem contrary to every fucked up hellish scenario he puts you through but he's not thinking about itttttt. he's not setting out to ruin your life. he is an adult man and you are also an adult and he is taking you at your word. you said you wanted this and that you could do the no strings attached thing. wouldn't it just be disrespectful to call you out for whatever emotional reaction you've clearly been having, which might or might not be even related to him, anyway? do you even want that from him? he's not going to second guess you. you said you could do this.

(of course if you couldn't do it, he'd never hold it against you. you'd just never see him again, i guess. at least not in that capacity.)

and i don't even think he's unreasonable about it is the worst thing! he really does have an awful lot in his plate. and a lot of it is proper insane stuff. he has city ending crises every week and the occasional universal disaster every few years. his father-brother-mentor is the fucking batman, dude. if you know even a fraction of it, like, what can you even do but cut the guy some slack? that's the other side of it too, even when you don't know but the gist of it, it's just hard not to sympathize with him. should he not get to spend some fun time with a person he likes, work off some energy, not have to drag them into his mess, not have to get involved in something he knows he cannot maintain? you said you could do this.

YES he is so idealistic in such a disconnected way from reality i fear he is chasing blindly an ideal wrapped up in nostalgia. he wants the lovely normal civilian life that he is wired from birth not to like but in the smallest doses. he's a bird, man. he flies. i think he's the type to mourn things that could've been more so for the imagined happiness of it than for what it truly would've been or for what he's actually feeling. to me he has like an imagined path that his life ought to take and it's not one he really wants or one that is feasible for him to have, but it is what Should Be.

thinking about it morphing into a real relationship is so fSDFJS you're going to have to crawl on your knees through the desert my man. i cant even blame him for being cowardly all this time. i think frankly at least half of the transition has to happen without him noticing. he has to get caught off guard with how comfortable he is with you now. and a lot of it has to do with the gradual change of you not caring. i think when you relax and stop trying to get him to stay, a subconscious part of him goes oh it's safe now we won't be smothered and latches onto you. there's also a certain degree of competitiveness like. of course he can win you back.

i think your disinterest is the sharpest weapon in the world. it really makes him suffer lmaoooo but it does have to come after he's sort of settled into your company. if it happens too early, he'll just let you slip away. he has to be invested enough, but unaware of just how much until he wants you to act a certain way and you're... not insincere about it, but just. kinda superficial. not really looking to go too deep. it's not that you don't care--of course you care! you are friends :)--it's just that... well, this has nothing to do with you. wasn't that the point he was making all those months ago?

I wanna hear your headcannons

Hmm i wasn't sure where to start, so apologies if this feels really jumbled. Also keep in mind i am cherry picking things from what dc has considered canon or not canon anymore sooooo:

starfire/koriand'r:

- Her personality is a mix of the bubbly one she has in TT03 and her NTT comic version. Warrior that will beat you to death if you wrong her, but can be very compassionate and considerate to those she loves. -struggles with social queues and human lingo (this isn't just for english, but any language. if you ever see the trouble in tokyo movie, she speaks Japanese for a scene but you can clearly hear/tell she's fluent but there's still a distinct way on how she talks/enunciates things). Since there really wasn't a "dialect/accent" for Tamaraneans, I like to think how she speaks IS the dialect/accent. And it's why her sister, Blackfire, seems to be much more "fluent". Some people can drop their accent/dialect when speaking another language, while others, no matter how much they speak in their 2nd language, will still have that accent/dialect there. (also bc i think it's a bit silly that to become MORE fluent?? you have to keep kissing? idk) - I love how she was a model for donna troy's photography gig, so i thought that would be cute to continue that (and her relationship with Donna!! bc wow did i fall in love reading about them in NTT)

Dick/Nightwing - He and batman had a fallout (he did not get "fired", but he left of his own volition. albeit on bad terms at first from differing views/ideals. I like to think that's partially why he was so moody in tt03 and why slade was such a great villain for him since slade(tt03 version) was very similar to batman at the time.

- He DOES grow out of that moody edgy phase, but he still has that bad habit of hiding his emotions/thoughts with others. While he's grown to trust them more and rely on them for missions, there's still that emotionally-constipated person that struggles to take off that "mask" and doesn't usually wear his emotions on his sleeves. And this continued to cause strain with all of his relationships. And if say a member of his team is hurt due to complications on a mission? you bet he struggles to not fall back on old habits to do things alone bc he can deal with it all by himself.

- When he's with TT, he's more relaxed and serious, but when he's back in the batfam, he ups the fake smiles and quips otherwise he might go crazy with how brooding everything is (especially being away with his found family and going "OH things don't have to be this damn depressing all the time. cool")

- remained the leader of TT in Jump City but as the team grew older and TT grew in members, things changed:

TT team:

- the older members (the ex-teens of the group) would all move on to managing their own cities or helping the younger generations (so dick in bludhaven, keystone city for wally, as well as other older members working at the east or west tower to help with younger generations not just be good heroes, but help them become capable of withstanding on their OWN. bc i like the idea the first members who [most of them] came from being in a shadow of someone else, so making sure future teen heroes don't fall into that ig?) so i guess like the JL where there's still a main core (with dick as the "leader" but the other main core can all step up to the plate too when necessary)

Batfam:

I know the new52 and crisis and yada yada has retconned and changed so much for all of their characters/stories (thanks DC). but again, these are just my AU/headcanons and anyone can disagree with what i gotta say:

- Jason todd becomes Robin ("unofficially") while Dick is a member of the tt03 team. TT03 is like... a 2 year story in my eyes? so by the end of the tt03 series, Dick becomes Nightwing and passes the mantle onto Todd. Todd is robin for like 1-2 years before his death. Tim takes up the mantle of Robin and then would either become red robin or put up the cape as he attended college AWAAY from gotham with duke and stephanie bc that would be fun (red robin, signal, and spoiler as a trio? sheeesh). Damian either joins before Tim leaves or something idk.

-babs is a bit was batgirl during dick's robin run. Would eventually become oracle and i think either staying in gotham or going to bludhaven could work.

- i know we all love the shenanigans with the batfam but i think a lot of these characters and relationships do better when they get to be independent. (which is kinda funny bc thats what bruce would want, even if he can be hypocritical and try to hold onto them due to his own trauma and unhealthy attachment.) but i would like to think eventually they could come together to help out in gotham every now and then. but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ bat stuff isnt my biig focus hehe.

So robstar/dickory stuff:

- on the fence if they stay together after the tt03 movie or at some point they do break up but it's more bc i always felt like star/kory was giving a LOT to dick and dick still had those emotional pull-back tendencies. and what i love about these two is that we have one character who is so in tune with her emotions vs a guy that struggles not to deflect a positive remark. and while she sees through a lot of what he puts out as a front and can always recognize when he's hiding something, she can't be doing all that heavy lifting (even if she's a warrior alien princess with super strength lool). So, if they get together during their tt03 era, can they work through that? - Dick grounds Kory. He's her sense of humanity. He's the first person she meets coming to Earth. He was always patient with her and loved showing her the world. Kory reads dick like an open book and he finds comfort in someone who can see through that facade TT03: There's a reason he hesitates to shoot her during the slade arc. why he picks her to search for slade. He can be vulnerable with her, even if it's in his weird way.

- a big fight involves moving forward in their relationship like marriage and children. To date is one thing, but to commit to something like that? To put his loved ones in danger? especially a child? He would have the fear of losing them OR his child losing HIM and kory. ofc kory would be understanding but i do think she would also get mad like "I was born to a race of warriors. Trained by the Warlords of Okaara. Am i so weak to need constant protection? I have respected the human morals to not kill, but I do not hold such beliefs and will do what is necessary to protect who I love most."

- Bruce wasn't necessarily confident in their relationship. It's a jumble of emotions that can be confusing. happy for his son to find happiness/love, sad/hurt/fear of his son moving on/away, a possessive/jealousy to keep dick around. But I do think when bruce and kory meet, he may soften a bit. I think it's why i like the idea of Tt03 star/kory meeting bruce bc she can be gentle and theres a charm about her.

Eventually they have mari! (and jake years later).

-Dick's job is to take her to school. but he's always sleeping in due to late hero shifts so it's usually a piggyback and acrobatic journey across the city to get to school on time.

-If she's hanging out in Gotham, then the public eye spread rumors bc they see her as another "black haired kid adopted by Mr. Bruce Wayne" and after 4 of them, people have just accepted the normalcy of it. ive also thought itd be interesting if she (and kory) were given some kinda tech like a watch that could disguise their appearance since big green glowing non-pupil eyes are kinda a give-away.

-jake doesn't get his powers until he's a teen. so while both kids were combat trained, he would take on the mantle of flamebird to go alone with nightwing!

NGL, I wish the 03 cartoon actually did something more with Joey and Wally partly bc it show people other Raven ships exist outside her and BB or whatever Robin is around and also bc I genuinely do like them and those ships. The JeriRae and KFRae ships at least both got nods in the show's tie-in comic but most were still obsessed with BBR sadly. And KFJinx.

And yes, I unfortunately remember those TT cartoon ship wars all too well. TTG at least revived BBT vs BBR for awhile but nowadays it's DamiRae vs BBR.

The thing is, it's not like BBRae is the one and only possible Raven ship. She has four teammates. Even if you cross off Robin and Starfire, you still have Beast Boy and Cyborg left over. Cyborg and Raven certainly also have bonding moments (there's the episode where she helps him with his car, and Beast Boy and Cyborg travel into her mind in Nevermore, etc).

Cyborg/Jinx and Cyborg/Bumblebee are ships that have been floating around since the toon ended, but neither of them are so popular (or canon) that I'd say it's like RobStar to just become a default. To this day, toon fans still make memes about how Cyborg is the forever alone Titan or ship him with his car as a joke. Even though Raven also doesn't have any romances in the canon of the cartoon (unless you count Malchior, but no one is counting Malchior).

I don't think anyone is being intentionally malicious, but I do think it's some internalized bias acting up that Raven/Cyborg is barely a thing and was never a competition to BBRae. I do think Beast Boy and Raven might have had slightly more bonding moments, but not a dramatic difference, and Beast Boy does actually have a canon romance arc while Raven and Cyborg both don't (Cyborg does have a crush on Jinx, but that doesn't really go anywhere, and KFJinx is probably more popular than CyJinx anyway).

I do think it would've been awesome if Jericho showed up more than just at the very end of the show, though. He might not have been so forgotten if he had more of a role in the toon. And yeah, if he'd become the default man to ship Raven with... I've said before that I think any Raven ship becoming popular could lead to the current bad characterization and I still stand by that, but I think it might not have been as bad with Jericho because his personality isn't as abrasive in contrast with NTT Raven's. Who knows, though.

--greta is viola and alexis' younger sister. greta moved to hoenn bc it has a better battling culture

--tina from pokemon masters is alders granddaughter. whether shes bengas sister or cousin idk. i think im leaning towards cousin.

--idk how yet, but i do vibe with piers & marnie being related to grimsley. their uncle perhaps? when his familys fortune fell, his much older sibling ditched him for galar (trying to make money from their commercialized gym challenge?) and then had some kids there. neither party knows the other well.

--i love that art i reblogged a while ago of larry and juan being related. the difference in personality makes it SO funny. the art had them as cousins but i think brothers might be even funnier (and funny should always win). im thinking they have a sootopolitan parent and a paldean parent. had juan, roughly 10 yrs later had larry as a way to not get divorced, got divorced anyways, and then each one took a kid. they keep in touch tho

You know what fuck it, I'ma talk about my oc x canon ships briefly ( not all of these are inherently romantic)

Jin x Amber x Wally: my favorite throuple. I love them dearly. I have a planned divorce era where Jin and Amber break up for a while bc Jin thinks their anger is ruining the relationship- and to be fair, it is something that hasn't been addressed by them, and has been a source of contention between the two. But I also think this could have been Jin doing a " I'm going to leave you before you leave me" situation. Anyway, Jin goes back to Johto to reflect and work on themselves, release a lot of things about themself in the process, and comes back to Hoenn to find Amber and Wally not fully together but are very Close. Jin isn't upset by this only bc they realized they loved both of them. The problem though is now Jin is afraid of inserting themself into the equation, thinking they'll mess up again, not realizing Amber and Wally love them back. They work things out though, and are very happy together :)

Kenji x Silver: Gonna go through reconstruction, and in general is kinda based on what I'm feeling for them, but overall it's the sunshine x storm cloud trope except one is dense and the other is bad at emotions in general. Again, it is gonna go through reconstruction so it feels like something of substance.

Danica x Kavi x Barry: This is a new one and something that isn't really romantic to me? At least right now. Maybe this is a qpr than anything, but the reason I'm even considering them is bc of all the cute Dawn x Barry x Lucas stuff I've been seeing. So whether or not this is gonna be a thing at all depends on how my playthroughs and character analysis of these three go when I get to Sinnoh ( which is next). I'm just putting them here for novelty sake.

Cheren x Alexis: It's very funny how they're divorced and they never even dated lmao. Lots of complications. Most of it is on Alexis' end, but I promise you Cheren has their own fair share of issues. I've been considering them actually getting together after everything but it's not like. A priority to me. I think them being happier than they were before individually is a reward as is. Still it could happen. Or it won't. Who knows ooooooo.

Elliot x Bianca: They're actually exes in canon! If I change my mind later, I change my mind later but right now, they did in fact date, sometime after b2w2. They had a mutual crush on each other for a while and decided to make it official after all the craziness died down. Bianca was the one that broke them up. She realized pretty quickly that Elliot was going through a lot in terms of Alexis. She's not really putting herself first? Purposely looking away from issues that the old Elliot would be yelling about. And that's.... probably not great for being in a relationship. It broke her heart to do so, but Bianca did think breaking up would be for the best- at least, for her own sake.

Eva x Yancy: Also exes!!! I might rework how they broke up, but the current idea is that Eva had the biggest crush on Elliot since they met, right? That.... hasn't fully gone away, even when she was dating Yancy - something that she herself was shameful off. Eva did like Yancy! She wanted their relationship to work! But it came to a point where Eva just. Couldn't stand lying to Yancy about her own feelings so....they broke up. While Yancy does still have her own faults, it was mostly Eva that ended up driving the relationship to the ground and...kinda leaving things on a sour note? They eventually reach in a sweeter note together, but yeah. Oof.

Eva 🤝 Elliot: Fumbled the bag.

This is an oc x canon post so no Eva x Elliot lol.

.....Wayne and Curtis don't get into a romantic relationship at all( Curtis is aro to me, and Wayne maaaaay be grey-aro), and I don't even think they're in a qpr bc like. At some point Curtis just ups and leaves and pretty much goes off the grid. Wayne knew this, of course, and accepted that Curtis just wanted to dip. But even with alllll that I do think their relationship is very very important to both of them. So like. They get an honorable mention, I guess.

Ames x Lillie: A story of how one person inspired the other to grow, and said person had to deal with that growth. The bad mutual crushes during SM, but by usum,the crushed are still there but are not tainted with teenager angst. Ames is still in protector mode while Lillie is like " I can take care of myself now >:(". It's not like. Super intense or anything, but it probably feels that way bc they're teenagers with Teenager emotions. They work things out and are pretty much a couple moving forward.

Naomi x Marnie: Each other's cheerleaders, Marnie someone who treated Naomi as fellow competitor, an equal. Naomi already thought Marnie was pretty when they first met, and Marnie has a deep desire to win against Naomi for herself - and honestly I think Naomi welcomes it. Their rivalry is kinda intense...and yet still very soft. I think that's just the Naomi touch lol.

Luca x Kieran: HA. Your funny. I'm not explaining them again. They're Normal (lie)

R.B x Arven: Childhood friends turned enemies ( big quotation marks there) to friends again to be very oblivious to the fact they love each other to lovers. The foodie and the chef. They're not afraid to get pissy with each other, it's how they vibe. Seriously though, they're cute. Not as....uh. A lot as Luca and Kieran, but still have their own drama. Both believed the other left them ( and in R.B's case, Arven literally told her he doesn't want to see her again, so she honestly has a right to be pissed), both have their own walls set up that gradually get down as the story goes on. They missed each other. A lot. And I think admitting that ends up making their friendship all the sweeter :) also the applin incident. It's not canon anymore , but I love referencing it.

big time rush! a long time ago i tried to write a that 70s show fic that was hyde/female oc but i got to embarrassed and deleted it lmao. she was the original roxanne (roxanne walters!!) and a few of her traits morphed into creating roxy for tasw. i also attempted a young justice wally west (kid flash)/female oc fic (althea prince) as well but only got through a rewrite of the first episode... all abandoned in favor of that's all she wrote which i think is the best choice :)

None so far... but lots of my chapters have angst! i think some of the angstiest i've ever been was probably chapter 19 where roxy was writing her letters, chapter 22 where roxy and camille get into a fight, and chapter 29 when mag comes to roxys door... can you tell i prefer fluff lolll

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

none so far, but i try my best to end most of my chapters on a happy note if situationally appropriate! i really loved the ending to chapter 18 part 2 (first rames kiss!), the christmas chapter (jersey + declan surprise!), and the slightly angsty but mostly happy end to chapter 14 (rames at the dance -> phone call to kendall)

Do you get hate on fics?

not to my knowledge but tbh i don't really think i'd care. i read a lot of fics as i was growing up and i know what i like and what i don't which is why i started writing tasw in the first place. additionally, i know that i can just close out of something or stop reading or whatever and i don't need to let the author know. but i saw a post the other day about people calling original characters cringe and whatnot and that hurt for a fraction of a second before i realized how much work i've put into my story and how it led me to this blog here and all of you and i felt soooo much better

Do you write smut?

i don't but i sure do read a lot of it lolll. i can hardly write kissing without kicking my feet and giggling and getting all silly about it i can't even imagine how i'd be if i tried to write smut - it would certainly affect the quality of my writing bc i'd be far too embarrassed

Craziest crossover?

i haven't written a crossover but i think there's lots of room for btr crossovers! i think i'm going to write a victorious/icarly/btr crossover just for fun as an additional tasw chapter. there's an episode of icarly where they go to a party in LA and meet the victorious kids - i think i'd be fun to throw btr + rox into the mix :)

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

erm. yes kind of. not the whole thing but mostly just original scenes + a few points of roxy's backstory i've written copied and pasted into another fic i found. still trying to figure how to bring it up to the author in a nice way without them thinking im coming for them...

i haven't, but how neat would that be! it would certainly be a massive undertaking

i am going to do my very very very best to finish everything i've started in my tasw-sphere because i am so dedicated to this project and i desperately want to see it through. i don't see myself undertaking another project like this though... if you can't tell im very particular about my stories, i love them super super long, and i add in so much extra stuff. but my t70s fic was really fun to write when i was (it was basically bad boy x good girl... god im kicking my feet just thinking about it) and i was super super into my young justice fic for a while (silly boy x serious girl? not quite grumpy x sunshine but somewhere along those lines), but i'm not sure those'll ever be worked on again. we'll see!

What are your writing strengths?

is length a strength? i looooove a long fic. maybe that puts me in the detailed category?

What are your writing weaknesses?

i've never really understood grammar and like... good sentence structre? obviously i know how to write lol i don't believe i'm a terrible writer but i feel like i write more of a flow of consciousness instead of well formated sentences. i drag my sentences out so much. i use "as" like once a sentence and it's been starting to drive me crazy

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

english is the only language i speak fluently + i took four years of spanish in school; i think i'd be comfortable writing basic words and sentences in spanish but anything beyond that i don't think is for me. any other language i'd like to include would also be basic things like greetings, colors, or numbers probably and not much beyond just out of respect for people who do speak that language. i wouldn't want to badly butcher something as important as the language someone speaks!!!!! but on a sidenote i love it when i'm reading a story and i have to look up translations though, feels like a little scavenger hunt hehe

Dating Howdy!!

i just KNOW this man loves to give hugs from behind

everytime you're doing literally anything that has you with your back exposed, he's going to pick you up

you could be in the middle of cleaning and next thing you know four limbs are wrapped around you and you're being picked up

he is both big spoon and little spoon, ignore the fact that he's like 7 foot/213 cm

if you don't like being hugged/touched, that's fine! he likes to make sure that you're comfortable with how he shows affection.

instead of hugging you, he tends to move things around to make it more accessible for you (especially if you enjoy cooking/baking, there are a lot of things in the howdy-sized cabinets but not the y/n-sized cabinets)

sometimes he does purposefully move things out of your reach to have you call him over for help so he can come bother you >:)

that is until you learned that you can climb on the counters... (as someone who is short, this is in fact the most effective way of getting things [dont do this])

he loves holding hands with you! regardless of whether you're in public or at home, he enjoys making sure that you don't get lost /j ("Its hard to see you all the way down there, neighbor!")

he is also a big fan of pinky holding <3

i hc him to have some anxiety issues, so this is a big reason why he enjoys holding hands/pinkys

it's become a big way to help him calm down, and if you start rubbing shapes (?) into his hand it makes things a lot better (he does it to you too <3)

after a long day at the bugdega (bodega? I've seen someone call it that so I'm calling it that bc it's funky!), he will fwump literally anywhere it is convenient for him to do so

let's just hope you're not on the couch/bed because you are a candidate for him to do so! (good luck)

he constantly is making sure that you're ok, mentally and physically! he is a great listener, and he gives great advice too.

everytime you try to help him out at the bugdega, he CANNOT focus

he will literally stare at you for ages until either you or a neighbor points out he's doing so ("howdy, are you ok?" "huh- oh yeah! it's just that you're really pretty...")

he also gives you an 100% discount if you agree to a kiss

either he's really cheesy, or he's reciting poetry to you, there is in fact, no in-between

howdy is great at adapting to your current mood! if you're being funky and all gremlin-like, so is he! if you're tired or sad, he makes sure to give you your time and space to talk if you want!

regardless of this, he does give mother-friend energy

After finishing a challenging set of exercises, Sendo wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked over at your direction. To his dismay your attention wasn't fixated on him anymore. He followed your eyes to the gym doors. Even with his fast movements he could just see a blob of brown and black leap onto you.

With a bright smile on his face, Wally screams out in excitement "Y/NNNNNNNNNN" and leaps to hug you tightly. Your eyes lit up seeing Wally after such a long time. You had met Wally a few times when he'd spar with Sendo and he'd end up with a few scratches. You used to patch him up every time and talk to him about his home. This helped you both get closer and made him see you like an older sister he could come to.

"Wally!", you giggled as he nuzzled into your neck with his head sort of like how a dog would. "How have you been Wally?" "Goooood. I missed you!!!" He said continuing to keep you in his tight embrace which you returned lovingly.

Sendo felt a bit annoyed that Wally has been hugging you for a good minute now and not letting go. Plus he is way too close to you. He should be the only one to nuzzle into your neck, not him. Wally sensed Sendo's heavy steps making their way towards him and slowly detached himself from you. As Sendo approached him, Wally gave him a sweet smile and offered him a bunch of bananas, "Tiger! These are for you."

A little annoyed from before, but not wanting to show it, Sendo masked his feelings and returned Wally's smile. "Yo Monkey. Thanks. Y'ready t'hit the ring?" Wally nodded enthusiastically.

Oh that's right Wally and Sendo were supposed to have a spar today. You were so mesmerized by Sendo's practice session that you forgot about it.

Sendo and Wally were in the ring doing their warm ups before the spar beginned. Sendo saw Wally glancing at you to get your attention and smiling when he was successful. Each time your eyes met, a spark of jealousy ignited within Sendo.

The spar had begun and after every round, whether Wally had an advantage or not he would run to you and ask you what you thought and give you a hug before he was scolded back into the ring. Sendo's jealousy grew with each display of affection, but he tried his best to focus on the spar.

After a few rounds something in him just broke and he couldn't take it anymore. He trusted Wally as his friend, but seeing him shower you with affection made him feel insecure. He trusted you completely, but his competitive nature and protective instincts made it difficult for him to witness another man getting close to you. He grew increasingly restless, unable to shake off the feeling of insecurity.

You were his girlfriend. He wanted to be the only man to shower you with all the attention and affection in the world, otherwise what kind of a man would he be. Sendo tried to brush off his jealousy, knowing that Wally meant no harm. He understood that their bond was purely familial, but it didn't stop the pang of possessiveness from nagging at him. Sendo, finding it increasingly difficult to focus on his sparring, started throwing more aggressive punches and pushing himself harder. His movements became fueled by his jealousy, as he wanted to prove to Wally that he was the one who deserved your attention.

However, this only served to escalate the situation, as Wally matched Sendo's energy and pushed himself even harder. As the spar continued, Sendo's jealousy grew more pronounced. He started losing focus, making mistakes, and leaving himself vulnerable to Wally's counterattacks. Frustration welled up within him, and he knew he needed to address the situation.

As the spar ends, Sendo approaches you "Oi /n, I need to talk to you. Privately." You could tell that even though Sendo was trying to sound confident you could hear the tinge of insecurity. When alone you turned towards Sendo, concern etched on your face. "What's wrong, Sendo? You seem upset."

Sendo took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. "It's about Wally. I know he sees ya as a big sister, but his constant physical affection during the training… it's been makin' me feel jealous. I'm sorry for bein' this way, but I can't help it."

Your eyes widen at both his honesty and that him of all people is jealous. You gently place a hand on his bicep, trying to reassure him. "Don't worry, Sendo-kun. It's just Wally's way of showing affection. I'll talk to him about it okay? You are my love, and I want to do whatever it takes to make you feel secure."

Determined to enjoy the rest of the day, Sendo nodded and mustered a smile. Sendo took a deep breath, trying to push aside his jealousy. He acknowledged your words, knowing you spoke from a place of love and understanding. He also reminded himself that Wally's affectionate nature was just a reflection of his friendly personality.

Later after you spoke to Wally, he approached Sendo with a smile to make ammends. "You two make a good couple. I'm glad to see you happy together. Thank you for taking care of my sister, Tiger." Sendo, feeling sense of security, extended a hand towards Wally. "Thanks Monkey. Your friendship means a lot to both of us. Let's continue supportin' each other."

so, the way i see it: it all comes back to home, yeah? home is not just the house - home is also the name of the town, it is very likely the town itself, and that town may be (as far as we know) the entire world. the very Concept of the home been discussed by clown as a central theme of welcome home a few times on his blog. when i say that home is everything, i do mean everything, and i don't think there's anyone for whom that rings more true than wally.

i know i link back to my older posts a lot, but i swear this one is relevant bc i wanna elaborate on a point that i make in the first half of it: the way i see it (as of the time of this writing) home, in all senses of the word, is wally's top priority. which is not to say that his devotion towards home supersedes everything else, but that everything else sort of feeds back into it by design. the neighbors? they are there to inhabit home. we, the audience? we are there to perceive home and round out its population. the WHRP*? they said it themselves - they're there to make that fucking house a home. home is everything, and in turn, everything is for the sake of preserving home. wally cares for his neighbors, and he cares for Us, but would either of those still be the case if there was no home to preserve? i'm not sure.

there is a catch to this, though. of course there is. wally's identity already seems tied pretty heavily to other people; he learns from his neighbors, and he does so on the audience's behalf. given everything i've written in the above paragraph, this can arguably be an extension of his devotion to home, however genuine those relationships may be in their own right. in other words, home (more specifically the restoration/preservation of home) is not only wally's chief motivation, but as far as he's concerned, the reason he exists at all. i think a lot about these tags that @pretty-in-possible (hope you don't mind the tag) left on a post of mine describing their image of wally:

and i had something very similar in mind. if wally's goal truly is the restoration/preservation of home - in this context, his raison d'être, the basis for his entire sense of self - then i can imagine why he would be willing to follow his original role as closely as he could even 50 years after the end of the original show. i can imagine that outgrowing that role in any capacity would feel like a sin. i can imagine that watching his friends outgrow theirs, or at least express a desire to do so, would seem extremely reckless to him, if not an outright betrayal.

("wait," you might say. "doesn't tampering with the site technically count as him adapting/evolving past his original role as audience surrogate?" "yes 8]" i would say. i would not elaborate, and then we would move on.)

i've mostly been talking about wally's side of things, and the reason for that is mostly that wally is just easier to speculate about. home is such a mystery that some people aren't even sure if they're the same being that was on the original show; i've seen people posit that whatever home is now, it is Not what they were originally, either that they're undead or that they've since become a husk for Something Else to inhabit, or some third thing i'm forgetting. either way, i think it's interesting that as attached as wally is to home, even he doesn't seem to be able to assess whatever their needs are with 100% accuracy - if the duet audio is to be believed, there's at least Some guesswork involved. who's to say that wally isn't just hearing what he wants to hear, at least some of the time?

i wonder - how does home feel about being an Embodiment, not of just the town, but of the very word "home?" are they frustrated with the fact that even wally, their own inhabitant, can never fully understand them, and has become resentful? do they appreciate the effort regardless, but feel a growing impatience gnawing at them day by day? are they apathetic at best towards wally, but need him to fulfill some goal or another, since they're an inanimate building? either way, i can't help but feel that home also relies on wally in some way; perhaps not as heavily as he relies on them, perhaps not in the same way or for the same reasons. but there is something Mutual there, i think.

tl;dr: these two are hurtling towards disaster and i, for one, cannot wait to see every last bit of it. here are two songs that remind me of them every time i hear them, the realization of which is often accompanied by guttural wailing.

* wally doesn't seem to have any strong feelings towards the WHRP team outside of maybe sharing the same motivation as them (i.e. restoration) but this may be because he's either hiding from them and also doesn't seem like the kind of guy to Express negative emotions, or he because he is the WHRP team - we'll see how things shake out.

Barry Allens usually a very caring, sweet person, but kind of sucks at communicating, can be avoidant and indecisive, and doesnt (usually) like rocking the boat. we havent gotten much Barry in YJ, but i think we can see that in him, and i could see it (Barry talking AT Bart rather than with him, preferring to keep the peace than make a scene, etc) grating on Bart, bc hes all about blunt, direct action whenever possible (side note: Eds the same way. they probs appreciate that about each other)

I totally agree and think your “Barry talks AT Bart rather than with him” comment sums up their (potential) dynamic perfectly - Barry might not realise he’s doing it, but if Bart doesn’t feel equally listened to then that’s exactly how it will come across to him. I think there’s also the element that Bart is not Wally… Barry knew Wally his whole life, watching him grow up and learning the kind of person he is, while, as his uncle, Barry has always been a figure of authority in Wally’s life who he loves and respects. They had time to build their dynamic and create a strong partnership in the field that works - where Wally always listened to Barry and Barry would listen to Wally. Barry doesn’t have that with Bart and if neither of them are very openly communicative about their feelings and perspectives then that’s gonna get in the way of them forging a trusting relationship.

The other thing is, Wally’s power set was never as strong as Barry’s, which gave them a natural hierarchy where Barry was aware that Wally physically couldn’t do as much as him, and so, would adjust his instructions accordingly. Bart on the other hand can keep up with Barry - I’m not actually sure if they’re equally match or one is still slightly stronger(?) - but either way that will effect the dynamic they have working together. If Bart sees an opportunity to act he’ll act - as has been seen in his actions this series - it’s an instinct he probably learnt growing up in an apocalypse. With that, he’s likely going to get very frustrated if he feels Barry’s stopping/delaying him from doing as such for whatever reason - and again, if they’re not communicating those feelings to each other, then they’re just going to carry them over into their day to day dynamic - meaning a not so close relationship…

Or at least that’s one way we could look at it. I really need to refresh my brain on the Barry appearances throughout this show if I’m to continue down this rabbit hole of family drama speculation. I swear, we’re gonna end up getting confirmation on Bart and Barry’s relationship and find out it’s nothing but sunshine and rainbows… oh well. 🤷‍♀️

okay let's start with wally. at his core, he's a very compassionate individual. i think he cares really openly and so deeply, and i think that has to do with the found family element of the flash fam, as well as values instilled in him by barry once he started hero work. he's also intensely curious, kind of to a fault? he can be rash and make impulsive decisions and he tries to be good, because at the end of the day he wants so bad to make his family proud. he wants iris to be proud of the kid she helped raise and wants barry to be proud of the hero he's becoming, but he's full of curiosity and energy and a need to prove himself. he's got a chip on his shoulder the size of a mountain, and he's stubborn and headstrong. i think as he grows, a lot of these traits sort of fall to the back burner. he still has his moments of impulsivity and bull-headedness, but part of it is when he got his powers. he got them so young, younger than barry was, and so they struggle to find their footing a bit when wally first gets his speed because he's like, suddenly got all this power and energy and he's a little scared and kind of angry and he's feeling so much and has no way to express that. i think wally and iris are a lot alike, moreso than wally and barry are, and that's one of my least favorite parts of the flash fanon. i think wally looks up to iris so much, he wants to be as confident and sure of himself as she is, she's this constant and caring figure in his life, his one indicator of stability, and she's his best friend, you know? that's his rock, and she's really the only person he's got for the longest time. when you're in the situation wally is (going off of the canon that his parents are not the best) everything is just like, more. like everything you feel and everything that happens to you is just so much more, and wally's sort of like this huge lightning storm and he doesn't know what to do with that. and linda meets him as he's beginning to level out, but he's still in a rocky place, and he's just. fully embraced his weirdness at this point. he's weird, that's his thing. he fidgets and people talk about him and he's too young for his grade and he knows exactly what he wants from life and kids like that are dangerous. people warn linda to stay away from the science freak until they realize she's just like him.

now moving onto miss park. you know the song "my grand plan" from the lightning thief musical? yeah her. she is annabeth chase (to an extent). linda was called silly and dumb her whole life, people told her she reached too far and had her head in the clouds. a total space cadet with delusions of grandeur. instead of tearing her down, it lit a fire in her stomach. this intense and deliberate rage she felt simmering in her chest everytime someone told her her dream was stupid. she's this empathetic person, i think. she's full of this righteous anger but it never expresses itself in violent ways. there's this quote (i can't remember where it's from) but it basically says that the biggest and most powerful act of rebellion a girl can do is to take care of herself. and so that's what linda does. she pushes herself to be better everyday, and she wears cute clothes and does her makeup and curls her hair and paints her nails because she wants to. people call her vain, they call her mean, they call her a bitch or bossy, but she isn't. she becomes this sort of spokesperson for the voiceless. she participates in protests on campus and writes scathing editorials about administration and social hierarchies in the school's newspaper and she fights for what she believes in because she cares, because she loves the world and the people in it, she wants to spread the truth and create change. she wants to spark discussion and debate and foster conversation because that's the kind of person she is! she stands up, consistently, for herself and what she believes in. she speaks her mind, she doesn't care if people call her loud or bossy because at least they're paying attention. and wally reads her work and he listens to her and he realizes that she's the kind of person he wants to be around.

because, what i think they both want more than anything is to be understood. they want people to listen to what they have to say and to care about it. linda rants about the ethics of journalism for hours, discusses philosophy and movies and current events and everything else under the sun and what wally does is different than anyone else, he listens. not only does he listen, but he asks questions and cares about the answer. because wally cares about linda, so he cares about what she has to say and what she's passionate about. wally explains physics theories in such a way that it makes sense to linda, and she never feels dumb asking him a question because (above a lot of other things in his life) he loves learning and he'll respond with such care and earnestness. at the end of the day, it's two compassionate and curious people who come together because they have this pull, this understanding of each other that they've never experienced before. they're a little snarky and a little intimidating and a lot stubborn and a hell of a lot compassionate and that's why they're so good at what they do.
