i'm trying to think of a word that i want to use in a paper, and i just....i can't...think of it ;w;

it's like...I'm trying to describe how somebody would say something like o_o for example o_o if you were talking about being vegan or something and your eating habits and how good they are and then you're like, "that's not to say other people are WRONG, but..." that sort of thing? 

And I'm trying to think of an adjective that would describe somebody saying that more because they feel like they have to rather than actually believing it?  and it kind of has a...negative...connotation? maybe????

is there a word like that?????? augh i hate when i can't do english ;w;
