my thoughts on rich rider in imperial #1 as the richie guy:

h*ckman clearly wanted to write a "serious hardass cop type" and pushed richie into that archetype despite that not being who he is or his personality. rich and peter's pre-existing relationship and history dont matter bc he doesnt care about that he wanted to write that sort of serious law abiding x stupid outlaw thing so to do that you need to disregard everything about their actual past together and relationship. this to me is the most frustrating way to approach comic book writing.

it's also really distracting like he wasn't retired. the last we saw him he was working -> got in a coma -> working as such again. also he isn't motivated by fun or being bored. rich is a guy who is motivated by guilt and thinking this is the only thing he has to offer. that it's all on Him and He has to do this to protect the ones he loves.

also trying to portray him as this like hardass cop type is my pet peeve like he's not like this. he's not had an issue with peter's like criminality or whatever before

also riderquill are close, even if you don't agree with a romantic interpretation they are at least best friends. they sacrified themselves together they got buried together they say they love each other. their thing is running into danger together. that's their whole callback thing.

it's like in conclusion: clearly did not give a fuck about who rich is as a character, story is not interesting overall to even excuse any of this lol

i'm so excited for the elderwoods content i have no idea what it'll entail but i HOPE that hassian and sifuu get some good arcs with the elderbeast :') regardless of what (or who,,,) it is and if it poses an actual threat, i just hope they show up and are involved in the major quests there!
