really really cross abt how much he's grown on me

I for one love messy drunk kind of negligent Toriel. It just feels realistic to give her flaws like a real parent. That feeling when you start to realize your parents are humans too, and make mistakes and bad decisions even. Especially with a divorce so messy the whole town was affected. Like we the audience know Sans is cool, but to Kris? All they know is that their mom wasn't where she said she was going to be after dark, and invited a stranger into their home while she was fall on her ass drunk. That's... not great parenting.

But also not something out of character in a dysfunctional family. Plus the juxtaposition between Queens comedic alcoholism in Chapter 2 and Toriels realistic alcoholism in Chapter 4 is really nice. It's one thing to see an "evil" character slurping up wine when they're capturing children in cages; It's a completely different tone when the kind responsible motherly character chooses to get drunk and begins acting negligent towards their child.

And as Deltarune develops as it's own story, we can now see that dysfunctional family dynamics are gonna be a relevant theme. Developing Toriel beyond that perfect ideal motherly figure only makes sense. She's more than just the universal Mom, and I think her unhealthy coping mechanisms abt it makes her a more interesting character.

Don't get me wrong! Do I think she needed a night to herself to unwind and have freaky hot skeleton sex? Absolutely. But doing it that way was pretty irresponsible and arguably neglectful. And I love it. Writing a dysfunctional family thats actually dysfunctional.

Guys, words can't describe how sorry I am for not even letting you all know that I'll be doing a... "small" pause, let's call it... Things got soooo messy here, I don't even know what I'm doing anymore.

But of course, I still try to keep myself updated with how everything's rolling around (yes, I've seen teh update and I LOVE IT!!!!).

Still, I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say...

honestly i don't think sqq (jiu) would have minded the accusations of preferential treatment from yqy if they'd felt true. like as children he guarded the title of being yue qi's Favorite with teeth and claws. why shouldn't he be given preferential treatment? everyone ought to know just who qi-ge likes and trusts over everyone else. and for good fucking reason--who else here is watching out for qi-ge? as peak lords he's literally 2nd in command and chief tactician, if yqy values his word over yours, then its both what makes most sense and also what he deserves.

the thing is that to sqq, being accused of being favoured by yqy over others now just feels like a sick joke, because obviously (to him) that's not the fucking case. if he actually gave him preferential treatment you'd think he'd listen to what he has to fucking say, instead of believing what anyone else tells him about sqq. you'd think, if he was yqy's favorite, he wouldn't have left him to rot.

so i think, in a setting where they reconcile after becoming peak lords, that sqq would very much slap yqy's love for him in everyones faces as a kind of power move. a kind of, "oh, you thought that was favouritism? you havent seen yet what it looks like when qi-ge lets himself favour someone."
