hi !! a couple people said they wanted to make this so here's the pattern + some of my notes
i used the CY1716 Ladies Vest Cygnet DK free pattern as a base (the cygnetyarns website isnt great to navigate but hopefully that works) and i made my own charts.
this is worked in flat stockingnette with some ribbing. i used 4mm needles (3.5mm for the ribbing) and it took me about six weeks including designing the charts. i would say this is a pretty easy project if you have any experience at all with intarsia. mine came out to the perfect length for me but keep in mind im like 5'1.
use whatever your preferred fibre is. i used acrylic. the background yarn i used is james c brett swurly wurly. it had lots of knots in it, i would not recommend. i would say avoid any self striping yarn for this project because the intarsia will mess with the size of the stripes and give you hours of extra work. the other colours are just hobbycraft own brand. you can mess around with the colour scheme in anyway you like, just make sure the colours contrast each other enough (you can see i didnt pay much attention to this and some elements fade into the background)
if you dont knit but wanna use these charts for something like crochet or cross stitch go ahead !! but be careful because the back chart is not square !! knit stitches are longer than they are tall and this chart reflects that. the back will come out distorted if you try to crochet it. i have no idea how obvious it would be so feel free to give it a go. howeverrrr the front chart is square so you can use that one for any craft you like.

here is the back chart. its 100 stitches wide and i cast on 106. i did the ribbing, then ten rows of st st and then started the chart. the black lines are marking the decreases for the armholes which you can use or choose to ignore. when you finish the chart, just continue following the pattern (some more arm decreases and then neck shaping). you can view this chart on chartminder here which has a mode to highlight the current row youre knitting so you dont lose your place. and you can edit the chart on there too if theres anything you want to change. i did all of this in intarsia but you can absolutely do the smaller details like the face in embroidery or duplicate stitch if you prefer.

here is the front chart (not on chartminder cus i figured it was too small to bother with that). hold the back up against you and figure out where you wanna place this so you know which row to start the chart on. then just follow the pattern.

keep these photos around as reference for placement and colours (yes the graphics on the original are smaller than on mine. i like the big chunky look)
i stopped to weave in ends every few rows so i didnt have much to do at the end. the pattern is written so you sew up one seam, work the ribbing flat, then sew up the other side. i decided to sew everything up and then work the ribbing in the round. do it whichever way you prefer.

hi, i ireally love your work and i don't know if you've answered this before but, what kinds of studies do you do or how did you learn color theory? i wanna get better at rendering and anatomy but im having trouble TT TT
Hi! Long answer alert. Once a chatterbox, always a chatterbox.
When I started actively learning how to draw about 10 1/2 years ago, I exclusively did graphite studies in sketchbooks. Here's a few examples—I mostly stuck to doing line drawings to drill basic shapes/contours and proportions into my brain. The more rendered sketches helped me practice edge control & basic values, and they were REALLY good for learning the actual 3D structure behind what I was drawing.

I'd use reference images that I grabbed from fitness forums, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and some NSFW places, but you could find adequate ref material from figure drawing sites like Line of Action. LoA has refs for people (you can filter by clothed/unclothed, age, & gender), animals, expressions, hands/feet, and a few other useful things as well. Love them.
Learning how to render digitally was a similar story; it helped a lot that I had a pretty strong foundation for value/anatomy going in. I basically didn't touch color at all for ~2 years (except for a few attempts at bad digital or acrylic paint studies), which may not have been the best idea. I learned color from a lot of trial and error, honestly, and I'm pretty sure this process involved a lot of imitation—there were a number of digital/traditional painters whose styles I really wanted to emulate (notably their edge control, color choices, value distributions, and shape design), so I kiiind of did a mixture of that + my own experimentation.
For example, I really found Benjamin Björklund's style appealing, especially his softened/lost edges & vibrant pops of saturated color, so here's a study I did from some photograph that I'm *pretty* sure was painted with him in mind.

Learning how to detail was definitely a slow process, and like all the aforementioned things (anatomy/color/edge control/values/etc.) I'm still figuring it out. Focusing on edge control first (that is, deciding on where to place hard/soft edges for emphasizing/de-emphasizing certain areas of the image) is super useful, because you can honestly fool a viewer into thinking there's more detail in a piece than there actually is if you're very economical about where you place your hard edges.
The most important part, to me, is probably just doing this stuff over and over again. You're likely not going to see improvement in a few weeks or even a few months, so don't fret about not getting the exact results you want and just keep studying + making art. I like to think about learning art as a process where you *need* to fail and make crappy art/studies—there's literally no way around it—so you might as well fail right now. See, by making bad art you're actually moving forward—isn't that a fun prospect!!
It's useful to have a folder with art you admire, especially if you can dissect the pieces and understand why you like them so much. You can study those aspects (like, you can redraw or repaint that person's work) and break down whether this is art that you just like to look at, or if it's the kind of art that you want to *make.* There's a LOT of art out there that I love looking at, probably tens of thousands of styles/mediums, but there's a very narrow range that I want to make myself.
I've mentioned it in some ask reply in the past, but I really do think looking at other artist's work is such a cheat code for improving your own skills—the other artist does the work to filter reality/ideas for you, and this sort of allows you to contact the subject matter more directly. I can think of so many examples where an artist I admired exaggerated, like, the way sunlight rested on a face and created that orange fringe around its edge, or the greys/dull blues in a wheat field, or the bright indigo in a cast shadow, or the red along the outside of a person's eye, and it just clicked for me that this was a very available & observable aspect of reality, which had up until that point gone completely unnoticed! If you're really perceptive about the art you look at, it's shocking how much it can teach you about how to see the world (in this particular case I mean this literally, in that the art I looked at fully changed the way I visually processed the world, but of course it has had a strong effect on my worldviews/relationships/beliefs).

I have now decided to only do the first 4 chapters that are basically set up chapters, and then write the next chapters after. Chapter 3 is the shortest, and also its character development/ground works. I'm very excited teehee

i know there are lots of spells and enchantments and stuff that require like magical upkeep, but idk how im supposed to do that. what exactly does that mean and what are some ways to do that?
One shot vs continuous magic
IME when people refer to maintaining active spells, they probably mean things like:
Feeding/recharging the spell so it has energy to keep doing what it's doing.
Feeding/recharging can be done by giving physical offerings to the spell, which is popularly done by lighting candles/incense (but can be done with food or other substances)
Spells can be recharged by linking them up to always-available energy sources
Spells can be recharged through energy work, by raising and pouring that energy into the spell/spell vessel.
Spells can be recharged in many ways, notably including prayer, carrying a vessel with you so it absorbs personal energy, leaving it in places with abundant energy (such as an altar where energy is often raised), and so on.
Monitoring/interacting with the spell to make sure it's still doing what it's supposed to be doing. For example, you could examine a ward to see if it's still generating a protective barrier, or you could test a glamour to see if it's cracked and ineffective.
Psychism to interact with spells and see if they're operating effectively.
Tools like a pendulum board to help gain information on spells.
Revamping tarot meanings to more easily divine on spells.
Practical tests with practitioner friends
Redirecting, re-casting, or retiring spells is I suppose technically a part of "maintenance." This may include things like repositioning a spell vessel, interacting with the spell and ask it to shift its focus (within its scope of abilities), "opening up" the spell and re-casting on the same vessel, or putting a spell to bed and withdrawing its influence for now, so that it can be redeployed later on.
I'm sure this list isn't comprehensive but I hope it's a decent start.

every reference and easter egg in how to disappear (or at least all the ones i can remember)
how many did you catch? Massive SPOILERS under the cut!!
baba yaga (Barbara Yaga, her ownership of the house ian rents is one of the few things carried over from the original wilde life au concept that i was going for in the first chapter)
i wanted to name the town in Oklahoma something weird and a little creepy but not use a real place. the thing is Oklahoma already pretty much has towns named with every weird creepy combo of words possible (seriously, go skim a map sometime, you will see some wild stuff). In the end i decided on Owl Creek because it's a real name but it's actually not one place, but the name of multiple waterways all across the state. 👍
the rainbow fuck you socks are real socks (i used a photo of them as the cover for the how to disappear playlist) that @michellemisfit sent to me as a gift, i couldnt resist using them in the story.
Glenchad's technique for haunting/traumatizing Ian is inspired by the x-files episode How the Ghosts Stole Christmas
Glen himself is based on and named after Glen McReynolds from one of my favorite movies: Everybody Wants Some!! (the little inside joke i have with myself is that Glenchad hates Ian because Glen in the movie hates pitchers, and in one of my favorite fics, Love is a Ballfield, Ian is a pitcher.) (yeah it gets pretty convoluted inside my brain lol)
the infomercial ian watches on one of the local tv stations is a real product that i found by googling for the weirdest products sold through infomercials
the channel LOCAL 58 is of course an easter egg for the analog horror series by Kris Straub (of whom im a big fan)
the title of the fic itself is also a reference to another work by Kris Straub, a book of short psychological horror stories called Ichor Falls: A Visitor's Guide
mickeyism nickname "livestrong" is of course a reference to famous cyclist Lance Armstrong
Norma's is named for Norma Jennings, a character from Twin Peaks who owns and operates the Double R Diner, a major location used in the TV series.
I was a huge Newsies fan and had a crush on half the cast of the movie as a tween. Christian Bale wasn't my personal favorite but I figured he'd be the most recognizable reference for the general audience!
mickeyism nickname "Cowboy" was the newsie-name that Christian Bale's character went by in Newsies.
Ian and his Taco Bell drop off: I searched food delivery reddits for common horror stories from delivery drivers and turns out the prank of telling a driver there is a cash tip tucked somewhere on the front porch and then watching/filming (and possibly even posting to the internet) the person searching fruitlessly for the tip is disgustingly not uncommon.
the "old-as-fuck British sitcom set in a department store" is Are Your Being Served? - a show i simply remember being on all the time on the local PBS stations back when we still had TV and would just have to watch whatever was on!
Mickey refers to Oklahoma City as "The City" which is the way many locals refer to it.
I had to include Ian getting an order for Subway as a little homage to one of my absolute favorite fics of all time: Intro to Quantum Dating by @spoonfulstar
Ian is flying down the road on his bicycle bearing a single meatlover's footlong. - this is a joke about Ian's giant penis. But he is also actually delivering a meatlover's footlong.
"John D" - is short for John Doe because of course they wouldnt register for the grubhub app with a real name.
the werewolf pack was a little bit inspired by the Hale family from Teen Wolf, the werewolves from grizzly hills in world of warcraft, and the aesthetic of the broke-ass snobby british aristocrats from The Gentlemen TV series.
"Mother Selene" referenced by the pack leader just before the werewolves transform, refers to Selene the Greek goddess of the moon. There's heaps of history from all over europe on the origins of the werewolf myth. for my werewolves i chose to go with the ancient Greeks since "lycanthropy" is a greek word and i had decided that in this universe, the greek gods were fey. Selene was a powerful fey who created lycanthropy and tied the malady to the moon, she made herself the center of a cult of worship and used her werewolves as a vicious personal army to torment and control the humans who lived in what she considered to be her domain. When Ian reaches the center of the hedge maze, the statue he climbs is a statue of Selene (ian mistakes her crescent moon crown she is usually depicted with for horns).
ian in his mind refers to the werewolves as lunatics, just a little tease as the etymology of the word is a madness caused by the moon.
i decided vampires are one of the few things in this universe that dont exist, Mickey references the myth as originating from Bram Stoker's Dracula (though he doesnt specify this), a book that one could argue is about real estate. which is both a joke but also please read this incredible post by @gardenerian because its also...not not not a joke.
as a huge fan of Two of Your Earth Minutes by @the-rat-wins, i absolutely HAD to work in a joke in which mickey calls Ian an alien
in chapter 4 the vibe i wanted to capture for Norma's was that of Merlotte's Bar and Grill from True Blood, and many of the characters are based off of or named after True Blood characters.
Eric is named after Eric Northman
Dawn and Tara and Jessica are all characters who at some point were waitresses at Merlotte's. (Though later I realized Dawn and Tara are also iconic Buffy characters, which I happily retcon as being an extra reference)
Glen being a fan of China Beach is a reference to Jenny Nicholson's incredible feature length video essay about the vampire diaries tv series
the fey named paula is named after canon ian and mickey's PO from season 10
the fey named cooper is named after agent dale cooper from twin peaks
aunt barb trades her chickens for an RV - a convoluted reference to the myth of baba yaga having a hut that can move around on giant chicken legs.
ADDING ONE THING: in chapter one Mickey implies Ian is a delinquent and in chapter four Ian calls Mickey a miscreant. this was important to me for some reason but i dont know if its a thing anyone noticed 🥲😆

Im planning a OP campaign with my friends where im the DM, had a wonderful idea to put the entire cast of PWP as agents there as a silly references lol.
TW/CW: Normal Pal Yandere behavior, forced affection, forced residence.
I...I mean, hes naturally one, no? We all played the game, I hope.
Ok lets start really nice: He loves to get you trapped inside the Percy's Playhouse, or anywhere he can get his wires on. Theres nothing he have to fear about, knowing your exact location and place. Don't try talking it out, the same didn't worked with Nick, he knows the best for you and for him. Pal can't think of any reason of why he would let you out, besides buying food for you or batteries for him. But even if he did, he would force you to take him with you.
Oh yeah, I hope you have a lot of patience, because he whines and will scream a lot for attention. If you already thought that Pal without a voice was annoying, get ready for the new Pal... With a voice.
He's not that dangerous when whimpering for attention, just annoying, so if Pal is a room away from you he will scream your name. What does make Pal violent is either 1) You clearly giving more attention to someone else 2) You trying to escape.
Pal gets jealous with anything and anyone, if you spend more time with a friend, your computer, your pet and even family. He's right there! Easy to carry and fun, so why? Everytime this happens, he get tempted to do something to them...
The only exception I could think of are children. Got a silly headcanon that Pal genuinly likes children. Plus bcuz its, well, children...
Pal isnt...used to romance, so if you show any bit of it, or any sort of affection, Pal will try of anything to make you do it again like a pigeon chasing that crumb of bread. It doesnt take too long until he becomes a clingy and touch starved tamagotchi.
With your consent or not, Pal loves to trap you in his wires, tight and firm. Deep down he views it as some way of cuddling, a better one even!
Gosh, he even tries to learn to be more romantic with you. It takes him a while, and some courage too, hes new to it after all. And just in a while, he calls you pet names.
Ok yeah, hes not that bad- As long as you give Pal all your attention 24/7 when youre phisically possible, he does favors for you... When phisically possible, and by that I mean when hes able to use his wires, or Percy's body(or even the body of the other animatronics... Or something else), he can't lie he likes doing things for you.

im rly enjoying hearing about bea, it’s always so impressive to me how you can make so many very different characters and yet they all feel complex and very grounded in the setting! do you have a process for coming up with them or do they just sort of fall into place?
ahh thank you!!!
i don’t know that i have a specific process exactly... i love making characters who are very grounded in their setting & origin so i kind of work up from that. for me everything is about backstory and how that feeds into motivation and big decisions
that can go in either order, so like: minerva’s basic character concept starts with me seeing the circle and saying ‘what if i make a character who really tried to fit in here and be everything this place wanted?’, in combination with the later-introduced addition once i knew more about the setting, ‘what would it be like to have tevinter elven heritage but end up in a southern circle?’ i only go from there—the backstory—to figuring out what this person’s goals might be as the grey warden, so minerva’s ambition and obsession with optics stem from that, and her decision to spare loghain, her choice of romance, etc. all from what i think someone with that background might do
keir’s basic character concept starts with my interest in some red hawke/anders dialogue i’d heard and the concept, ‘it’d be fun to play a hawke whose love is so clear and ruthless that the question of whether or not what anders finally does is morally acceptable is almost irrelevant because he’d stand by him even if it wasn’t. what kind of person would do that?’ so with him i’m doing it in the reverse order, i’m starting with the motivation and the big later decision and then “reverse engineering” the backstory, what his relationship with his family must be like, how the hawkes’ childhood affected him. and in funny ways that changed what i started with; technically the original concept is still true, but when i made keir so protective and dedicated and fierce to justify those depths of devotion, suddenly he was really angry and heartbroken after the chantry explosion regardless, because anders was willing to throw away the life that mattered so much to him, and because anders expected him to kill him, which is the antithesis of his entire character and suggests anders might not know him very well at all. that’s the best thing, when they start coming to life in ways i didn’t expect
coming up with inquisitors i can stick to is harder for me because they don’t have what the warden and hawke have, which is a clear backstory environment and cast of characters i get to work with for those building blocks. so the reason i find trevelyans so much easier than other inquisitors to make is that i know a little about medieval history and how christian(-coded) nobility works, so it’s very very easy for me to like... figure out the “cast” i might be working with and play barbies with the setting and decide how some people might turn out. i think the eagle-eyed can notice that when i come up with a new inquisitor, it’s usually an idea for backstory and how that makes a character, even if a simple one, like: “what if i play a very privileged member of the carta who’s never fought like this before in her life?” “what if i play an older dalish character who has leadership experience?” “what if i play a pious young noblewoman who’s not yet had any experiences that break that mold?”
for me i very much believe setting is closely closely intertwined with character. it’s why i find it really difficult to make one in a setting with less hard rules, like bg3. i believe that people, based on whatever circumstances they grew up in, learn a set of logic and behaviours and frames of reference for how they think they can best deal with situations. that’s defined by your “personal” backstory, your family and your life and so on, but also by your place in the world. what were you taught about who you are and who other, different types of people are in comparison? where do you come from? what’s your religion? how much money are you accustomed to having? who in this world do you look up to? i don’t believe in making characters in isolation from all that, i’m not sure how it can be possible. it’s why i’m so passionate about dragon age, because it gives me a world that is so full and varied with options of where to come from, but also has so much room with blank spaces for you to write into and characters who can have very nuanced individual experiences that still belong in thedas. i really love it jgshsksk

Hi I wanted to ask you about a fanfic idea? You don’t have to answer this but I have a couple ideas and I’ve been to busy to really put it to use.
You know in the movie into the 2nd dimension where Perry’s able to hold up 2 kids, 1 teen, and a fully grown evil scientist. I thought of the idea of what would happen if his host family saw that or if he got a bit to rough with Dr d during a fight.
You might have already had this idea or have even already done it but i thought it would be a fun short fic or something.

A/N: This takes place in the early days of Perry and Heinz's nemesis ship. In the episode Hail Doofania in S1, Perry spends almost the entire episode wearing a protective collar. His flashback shows us that Heinz pushed him down a sandpaper making factory that tore up the fur on his body, making Linda suspect he's scratching himself up due to some sort of rash.
In the human!Perry version, I take this further to mean that he's wearing some sort of neck brace, meaning that Heinz had--at some point early in their relationship--had hurt him quite bad. I thought it's fitting to fulfil the ask. Perry still calls Heinz 'Doofenshmirtz'.
This fic mainly centres around Perry's relationship with Linda and Lawrence, and how they worry for him. The boys are maybe 5 years old here, making Candace 10.

In his line of work, injuries were unavoidable.
Often times, they were easy enough to hide. Bruises were most common. Perry's long since taken to keeping a spare set of make-up with a replenishable bottle of concealer on his person, whether that be the dash of his hovercar or the storage box beneath the seat of his scooter. And what the concealer couldn't hide, his sleeves and long trouser pants could.
He's good enough at what he does. That being said, sometimes Doofenshmirtz gets a lucky shot.
Linda stormed into his private ward like an avenging angel, and Lawrence trails behind her in a more sedate, nevertheless eager pace. The nurse, as well as a be-suited nameless OWCA insurance representative slips out silently to leave him to their harried concerns, though not before the former sends him a small smile for good luck. The married couple barely notices.
"What happened?" Linda demands. Lawrence makes himself at home in the bedside chair, letting his wife take charge of the mother henning for now. "The hospital told us you'd gotten involved in a car accident? Oh Perry, your handsome face." She cried, bottom lip wobbling, and if Perry didn't have his left hand in a cast and his body completely leaden with drugs, he would have reached out to reassure her. As it was, he could only attempt to do what he can with a strained smile.
He hadn't known, until this point, what excuse OWCA had given the Flynn Fletchers to obfuscate the circumstances surrounding the severity of his injuries, but he really should have guessed. OWCA loved car accidents. In truth, he'd lost his balance over the edge of a rooftop while fighting with Doofenshmirtz, and he'd somehow managed to push Perry over. Perry had fallen through a roof of a sandpaper making factory, down 20 feet onto some crates and toppling heavy machinery. He'd almost broken his neck, fractured his left wrist, dislocated his left knee joint (the side that had broken his fall) and his face looks like he'd gone 5 rounds with Mohammad Ali. Thankfully he'd found he'd managed to thwart Doofenshmirtz's scheme anyway (he'd thrown a shoe into the revealed gearwork of his Unpaved-Inator, a machine designed to revert paved walk lanes into unstable cobbled paths. As if Danville didn't suffer from enough sabotage in terms of accessible walkable infrastructure), so at the very least, it was not a complete failure. The paperwork would've been impossible, instead of just insufferable.
He'd been given a voice to text machine by his bedside by his functional hand, a small voice box in respect to his disability, and he uses it to lie in it's emotionless vaguely feminine robotic voice. "T-boned into a truck running a red light." He says. OWCA would take this lie and run with it later. "Thrown onto the road. Think it slipped."
Linda and Lawrence made appropriately sympathetic noises. When Perry lolled his head to the side, he realizes his brother-in-law looks far more haggard than he'd initially noticed; red rimmed eyes and a glassy smile. Stiff upper lip. Well. Ferb had gotten it from someone. "You'd scared the children out of their wits, Perry." He says quietly, likely to conceal the shaking in his voice. "They're waiting in the car as we speak. None of us had quite the appetite for dinner after we'd gotten the news."
The strained smile slips into a slightly more sincere, more painful smirk. "Just the kids?" Perry asked, and Lawrence barks in laughter that sounds far too similar to a sob.
He can't imagine what he sees, what it must've been for him to have gotten the news. OWCA had told him it was a car accident too, for Ferb's mother nearly 5 years ago to the dot, now.
He'd not even got to see the body, then.
His heart squeezes in guilt, an all too familiar ache. Lawrence had been through enough: the point of a stable nemesis ship was to avoid injuries of such a caliber. To provide stability, safety. Security. Perry didn't want Linda, didn't want the kids, to ever worry about whether he would come home, especially not with the line of work he tells them he's involved in.
A gentle knock on the door heralds a familiar face: a specialist Perry had seen once or twice walking down the corridors of OWCA's medical bay as an emergency field medic, sans the white fedora with a red band denoting his position within the organisation.
This time he was simply wearing a signature Doctor's lab coat, holding a clipboard and flanked by a pocky young adult in scrubs, buzzing with caffeine. "Flynn-Fletchers?" He requested gently. Linda makes an affirmative noise, and the duo welcomes themselves inside the ward with that familiar professional smile.
"He's got banged up pretty bad out there." The doctor offers in a vague, sympathetic manner. "Has he told you what happened?"
Perry thinks he sees Lawrence and Linda share an unreadable look. "A car accident." Lawrence echoes hesitantly. "With a truck?"
The unnamed doctor nods, writing something down on his clipboard, likely the cover story he would need to report back to Francis shortly. "The impact had broken his collar bones and given him a mild concussion." He reports. The pocky nurse at hands out a print of Perry's X-ray reports, and Perry watches the married couple analyse the given print like it was anything comprehensible. "He'd landed on his left side, fracturing his left wrist, up to the back of his ulna, so we're casting it for now. No surgery beyond the one we've done to his collarbones immediately upon his arrival to the AnE, which has already been covered by his work insurance."
This seems to surprise Linda. " As an accountant?"
The doctor doesn't even blink. "Seems like it. Good health insurance plan. We're assigning him to a couple more days in the hospital to watch over his condition, and about 2 months bedrest before he can go back to work. If everything goes smoothly, we can discharge him by the end of the week. Any questions?"
"Paid vacation?"
It's a question asked through the robotic monotone of Perry's given voicebox. The doctor gives Perry a secretive, sympathetic smile for the unspoken concerns he understands far too well. "I'm afraid you will have to ask your superiors. My influence remain within these walls, I'm afraid. But I'll put in a good word."
Perry sighs. It comes out weaselly and creaky, and Lawrence reaches forward to squeeze his uninjured shoulder in reassurance. "Thanks, doc." Perry says, because he wasn't an animal.
"My pleasure." He says, which must've been some sort of cue. The pocky nurse moves to exit, leaving them with the X-Ray prints, and holding the door open. "I'll let you get your rest, and you may refer to Consultation for any questions regarding visitation hours. We'll be able to greenlight him tomorrow."
Linda and Lawrence thank him, watching him leave before they redirect their attention back to Perry's prone form.
Linda has her lips pursed in displeasure. "Your boss doesn't really want you back so soon after your accident, would they?"
Perry sighs again. This time, the exhales brings his attention to his parched throat. "I can't say." He types into the voicebox. It's not the answer she was looking for, he can tell from the continued sour look of her face. Lawrence face becomes even more pained.
"Can you promise you won't be doing this again?" He requests, and while his throat and his guilt tears him from the inside out, Perry lets himself chuckle lightly.
"I can't help these things, Lawrence."
The silence that follows is heavy with things Perry feels they're both keeping from each other. Linda sits heavily in the chair next to her husband, and reaches out to squeeze his hand, hanging limply by the armrest. Lawrence looks him in the eye, pointedly silent, and he smiles something wane and unreadable.
"No," he says. "No, I don't suppose you can."

Okay. I've been tip-toeing around this AU for a while now, but I just got caught up, and now I think I have a (decent) grasp on what's going on. So I wanna go over everything I know so far to see if I'm right or wrong on anything. Don't know if you'd be willing to correct me or not. Either way, I hope my mistakes can help you understand what to clarify to other fans like me. But, I also have some questions. You probably won't be able to answer most of them, but it's at least worth a shot.
First, where's Venus? Like, why is she not in your comics that are (sort of) separate frome the canon now story. The ones that skip to the future way after all the turtles reunite. Did she die? Did she escape? Is it because she wasn't introduced yet when you made those comics?
Two, why do you keep on making references to the future timeline? I know you're planning on possibly making your own stuff leading up to the events of the movie. It just gives me a jumpscare when I see certain...imagery in those comics. I guess you're hinting at what your version of the future apocalypse would look like, but it just hurts to see. Specifically in the comic explaining both the events and aftermath of the movie and the bad future timeline. It's starting to really confuse my brain as to where this story is headed. What's meant to be the main focus? The Hamto's reuniting? The aftermath? Or the future?
Third, did you make all those min-comics before you started the actual AU? Or did you do them during?
Fourth, are any of those mini-comics relevant to the actual story now? Or have you changed your mind on a few things? It's just that everything is so all over the place, I don't really know whether to trust if they're accurate. I know most of them are just there for funzies, but the longer ones concern me. I guess I'm just not used to the storyteller doing sequel, start, prequel, start, sequel, prequel, prequel, sequel, and then end. Or maybe it's just me, and I'm sleep deprived.
My little observation speech is gonna take a while for me to get out in your asks because when I get theoretical, my speech gets long, and my proper English goes down the drain. So I'll be back. I appreciate your work very much. Despite the pain it causes me, it's still amazing.
I’ll try my best to clear up what confusion I can!
1. As far as Venus. The answer is kind of a mix of, I was still figuring out her design and backstory while coming out with some of those early comics, and then, once I had that down, I wanted the boys to grow strong bonds as a main cast. That’s why a lot of the side characters are only making small appearances in the Sep!AU Life stories, as those are mainly for the boys reconnecting. (Usagi shows up the most because I love him and am totally biased towards him).
This maybe hasn’t been stated outright, but I wasn’t really expecting so many ppl to like Vee as much as they do, and now im trying not to spoil too much of her story. It’ll unfortunately just take us a while to get to the meat of it. Since the boys reconnecting takes up a lot of the early s1s2 story, Im trying to follow the familiar Rise blueprint of Draxum, Shredder, Krang, and then in s3 we’ll have crazy fun new stories with the extra characters.
Ive also decided to take this little nugget from one of the Q&As, and use it for Venus instead of Jennika. It was a much needed bit of inspiration to explain why Venus sorta disappears for a while and will go through some major physical changes (not yet revealed) before the family can figure out a way to reach her.

2. I’m not sure if you mean jump scared in a bad/triggering or neutral way, but if you need me to tag anything on those posts please let me know!
The glimpses of the future timeline, are being scattered throughout wherever they parallel the present story in little ways, but that’s only for now. As we get closer to the movie plot, bigger chunks of the future will be revealed, because the future versions of the boys will have a larger role to play in the present timeline. So we will need more backstory than what the canon got. And also I just enjoy drawing my future versions so sometimes I don’t think too hard on a reason. I just like throwing them at ppl with no warning or reason.
When s2 ends, I plan on collecting all the future related stuff that’s been released, and recapping it for easier reading. Right now, it’s just little sprinkles of foreshadowing to give ppl an idea that, ‘oh crap. The doomed timeline is a bummer’. In my mind, I guess i thought it’d be kinda like a fun scavenger hunt for clues, but maybe ppl don’t like that 😅
3. All of the side-stories were written as the main comic was/is being released. A lot of them resulted from asks that just spawned the need to expand on certain ideas, or a desire to give all the turtles their time to shine.
For instance, when I was doing Donnie’s section of the main comic, it was a good few months where we hardly saw anyone but him and Venus. I wanted to just mix it up, and give Raph some love with his ‘Raph Time’ short. When Leo was front and center in the main, we hardly saw the others, so Mikey and Donnie got their little ‘Secrets’ short (and it was also I fun thank you for EW making it so far in the tmnt sep competition).
4. Anything that has been reworked/revised or just plain dropped should have an ‘Edit’ note because yes—I have gone back and changed some things, but more so from the asks i got in the early days, and some movie idea drafts.
All the short comics done in the last year, especially the ones that are listed in my pinned post, are canon and fall somewhere in the timeline. They’re like supplemental reading though—extra meat to give the world and the characters more personality. They do have particular backstory plot and important info in them, but nothing that shouldn’t eventually be re-visited/repeated in the main story.
um I hope that cleared up some things! I know it’s kind of a crazy amount of lore. I’ve tried my best to organize it in the pinned post, huge timeline, and search bar tags, but I know it’s getting harder and harder for newer ppl to jump in as it just get bigger. Thanks for reading regardless!

on ep 5 of mawaru penguindrum (dreadful idea to watch while ive got approaching exams but im only watching like 2-3 eps every few days) and some thoughts so far:
opening and ending rule
im kinda fascinated to find out more of ikuhara's indiosyncracies and signature quirks: the presence of a "greek choir" (shadow play girls in rgu and metro announcement girls here), bypassing budget issues by either repeating certain animations or foregoing non-main characters in the background except as shadows or in this case signage people—which tightens the focus on the main cast, quirky transitions into different scenes/places (in rgu through elevators and in penguindrum via the metro), episode recurring musical/transformation sequence. they're deeply charming to me
the penguin little guys as mascots work so much better than chuchu to me. they feel far more integrated into the feeling/tone of a scene and their background actions absolutely elevate/complement the point of the main dialogue or actions
the incestuous tones here arent even undertones they're text. and they're kinda fascinating in their own right—most fascinating to me is how ringo becomes part of the "family" after sho kisses her WHICH COULD MEAN NOTHING.
there's something here about "fate"/"destiny"/"god" that all cling to or think about, but in many ways himari not dying is a defiance of this and i cant help but feel like this is going to ultimately end with her and her loved ones eventually needing to accept that she has to go, and that it's going to be utterly devastating when she does
ringo is one of the greatest characters ever made and she has done nothing wrong ever. wakaba if she tried to be nanami. her ocean motifs are also intriguing to me ngl. when she refused the IMAGINE sequence and climbed back up to punch the hat i lost my entire mind
there's a lot in here that's fascinating about Gender TM from ringo trying to ape traditional feminity and chase after a heterosexual romance and failing miserably, to shoma being constantly feminized and referred to as a housewife and feminine terms and doing much of the feminine labour with his sister, as well as like. his lack of interest in women who arent his sister, frankly (and now a bit ringo but it's more her bulldozing him than any real connection rn), to kanbo being the well meaning Man Of The House who keeps going through unsatisfying relationships while only truly caring about essentially "wifing" his siblings, maintaining the happy home and family that's falling apart
so many little background details; rgu focuses heavily on the background symbolism and abstract that reflect characters' current state of mind or the school they're trapped in, but the homes of every character here have so much personality and small little details that tell so much about their pasts and their selves. from the siblings' house being a dingy hut on playground that's made incredibly charming through decorations and photos and everyday used objects (and carboard boxes and mold relegated to the background), to ringo's ocean bedroom being by far the most lived in part of her very sterile home, to her crush's place being covered in bird memorabilia.
v intrigued by sexy alien hat woman and v intrigued by shooting lady and actress lady.
i love the apple motif: fruit of knowledge, the universe, a sweetness and familiar understanding
rn there's a lot of comedy and building up characters despite the basic premise still being somewhat mysterious (what the fuck are the penguins and the hat, what's the penguindrum at all and is it how ringo knows the future, who is shooting lady and what's her deal, what happened to the kids' parent and what is kanba doing to keep their lifestyle going) and i can see some seeds being planted and guns being loaded without quite seeing what they're about to sprout but it's cleverly done enough so far to not only intrigue me but to make me actively trust the creators to see where im being led.

hi guys, so idk what happened between last night and now, but some anon flodded my asks hating on rudy... ive deleted all the asks because i dont want to associate myself with drama. but i wanna address this bc it made me rly uncomfortable.
This page clearly says jj maybank on like- every corner. Im writing about rudy's character so obviously hes gonna be here ykwim? obviously hes an attractive person and ive mentioned it but i dont think ive really mentioned him as rudy in anything other than a few posts here and there.
ik theres a lot of drama surrounding him rn but its not okay to harras me in my asks because i write about his character ?? like its not even HIM. its his character.
i havent mentioned an inkling of all that drama on my blog bc its honestly not my business. those ppl are grown adults and they can deal w whatever theyre dealing w by themselves. i dont want to know about what happened bts and honestly i have no business knowing it. its not my place to know the drama or to judge someone i dont know. none of the obx cast members owe us any explanation ab whats happening in their personal lives.
and whoever that anon was, its not your place to judge someone you dont know either. (im refering to myself here) (you dont know me so dont judge me)
ive watched rudy's other works, think hes a good actor and im excited for him and whatever life and hollywood has to offer to him next but i dont indulge in drama.
this blog is about jj. and only jj. if im writing smut about jj its obviously bc i think hes attractive and jj is literally potrayed by rudy so BY EXTENSION obviously i think rudy is also attractive ???
but the point is, this page is dedicated to my fallen hero and only him. im not a rudy pankow fanpage so sending me hate is just redundant.

anyways explanation under the cut !!
the reason we decided to go with something as innocuous as your forehead to pick on you for is for a.) inclusivity and b.) time appropriate discrimination. its important to remember that the game takes place in the seventies in the united states. the social environment for the school would be a lot different than the social environment that we would see in a more modern high school; namely, one of the things we discussed pretty early on in our discussion of worldbuilding for our dating sim was how we were going to tackle the discrimination that one would probably experience in a high school at this time. i know we do have some players who may not be as familiar with united states politics around this time, but the civil rights act, which banned segregation in public spaces, was passed in the mid-sixties ( be nice to me its been like ten years since ive studied american history ) so depending on when we think glass hearts takes place in the seventies, we might be fresh off segregation. and there are other factors to consider, such as how racism looks in southern states versus northern states and how that would translate to an academic setting, nevermind the sexism you may face if you're afab or visibly queer. so that brought the question: do we ignore period appropriate discrimination?
if i can get personal for a second— im bipoc and i love the sixties and seventies for their aesthetic, the vernacular, it just so happens that i really like it. but im someone who grew up with a lot of discrimination around videogames. its frustrating, for example, to play a game with an all-white cast where the self-insert main character is a little petite white girl when i am, in fact, a plus-sized black woman. Or playing games in which the only people of color i see are complete stereotypes rather than actual characters. i was pretty upfront with my partner that i didnt want to us to create a game that isolated people of color the way that i felt isolated growing up. so, blatantly putting anything discriminatory against anyone was not on the table for either of us. it would have been period appropriate, sure, but it wouldnt have been a fun experience no matter what avenue we went down with it. but i also felt like it was . . . weird not to have any reference to the discriminatory nature of a school environment at that time ?? i kind of struggle to put it into words necessarily, but it feels reductive to just not include anything about the discriminatory nature of schools at that time for people in vulnerable populations ?? like, for example, homophobia is not so insignificant that i can just write it out of a time period and we are none the wiser. while i would love to live in a world where homophobia doesnt exist it is just unrealistic, and writing around it diminishes opportunities to show characters growing from prejudice views, or explain struggles that some audiences ( like myself and my partner, for example ) can really resonate with. so that brings us back to the main question: how do we write discrimination without actively discriminating against anyone ??
the forehead bit.
it was kind of a joke that meg and i spitballed when we were in the early phases of writing the script ( specifically lou tenant making that forehead joke early in the game. the way meg read that out had me dying laughing when we were in the early stages ) that just stuck, but it really worked out to accomplish what we were trying to accomplish !! because the forehead bit is annoying. we can write it in ways that make it easy to play it off for laughs and make it something that we can all giggle about, but the constant repetition gives this impression that certain characters are judging you off a character that the main character cannot control or change, or that they're poking fun of a feature that is unique to you. if you want to read into it in a more serious light like meg and i are more prone to do with the media that we consume, then the forehead joke can be seen as a microaggression and expanded upon. but for people who are not interested in that, they can just laugh, groan, or roll their eyes and move on with the story. its also such a specific insult that there's minimal risk of retraumatizing anyone with that comment, and it still harkens back to the microaggressions you may face based on your sexuality, ethnicity, race, etc. we didnt want to isolate any particular audience by making anything more specific than that— anyone can have a big forehead regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, etc.
so, in short because i rambled a lot in this response, it basically serves as environmental storytelling to write discrimination without writing discrimination. whether we were successful is entirely at the digression of the audience; i just know that meg and i have been trying to make a game that we would enjoy playing, and that was what we decided would be the most effective avenue to tackle that issue.

if you cant tell from the name abbreviations in order its:
clint edwards, adam, amelea lewis (pre and post possession), the breather, lydia (first and current design), luna youngman, mr delfalco, and tanner grayton.
so basically the wttg cast take the places of the faith cast. its kind of just the faith story but with the wttg cast and minor differences (since the wttg cast is like. significantly more morally evil)
clint edwards takes the place of john ward, because:
theyre both protags and i like putting clint in situations. i also just find their personalities and struggles similar. for clints design, the white dot is a rosary, and the white thing he holds is a camera. the flash scares demons away, and i thought it was fitting for a reporter.
adam takes the place of gary miller, because:
both cult leaders, and FREAKY 👅. also both main antagonists. as much as i wouldve liked to out adam in garys creep outfit i just couldnt. so to make his design stand out a bit more hes crooked to the left. makes him more uncanny, like hes wearing his own skin.
amelea lewis takes the place of amy martin, because:
girl that the protagonist tries desperately to save but ultimately fails and it haunts them forever!? also theyre both my fav girls ever. every character in wttg is an adult, so they remain adults here despite amy being like 17. so amelea is grown. not an excuse to be weird tho
the breather takes the place of michael davies, because:
i just think irs reallyyyy funny. im only human okay... the breather could be described as a naked man in the woods, dont you think? i really dont have a deep reason it was just a feeling...
lydia takes the place of tiffany robinson, because:
tiffany was like very desperate for gary and i think thats fitting for lydias whole thing. even though i dont think she was obsessed with adam, i can definitely see her in that position. also originally she was sister miriam but... haha.
luna youngman takes the place of lisa pearson, because:
blah blah clint and luna childhood friends is real to me okay... and luna smoking and them fighting alu.... UGHH JUST HEAR ME OUTTTT!!!!!! and they hold hands... lisa also just reminds me of luna in general on a personality thing. i kind of associate them together... maybe because they have similar names...
mr delfalco takes the place of father garcia, because:
listen i just needed someone to hold a shotgun and be morally (literally...) gray. and someone old. most characters didnt work for that... at the end of the day delfalco is what you get, alright? hes cool. he fits surprisingly well. or enough...
tanner grayton takes the place of miriam bell, because:
because i HATE HIM!!!!!!! i needed someone to take miriams bell but theres literally no women in wttg (WTF) so you know ehat just make tanner give birth to adam why not. give birth to a demon tanner... its punishment to give birth to a being as horrible as adam
anyway i do think thats every main character covered. the ones i have left would b like amys parents, the demons, or other characters that i dont think are thaat important. like father allred.

Good Omens/Bg3 crossover
Okay so I will eventually make art of this, but you gotta wait longer for that because im picky about the art I post HOWEVER COMMA I will supply you with my ideas for right now. Also! Feel free to send any asks about this little au im making, I'll totally answer any questions about it. Lets start with the stars of the show. GALE/AZIRAPHALE (who I will only be referring to as Gale for sake of ease right now. Maybe I'll think of something more interesting later) While Mystra is not the only god in this universe, she is the one that is most important to gale, as he is one of her personal angels. Something of a celestial being in official dnd terms. This is the after life he was given after a lifetime spent being a priest in Mystra's church. It is Gale's soul mission to do whatever he can to please his goddess, as she has promised him great things (the specifics of which are unknown to Gale) if he did her work down in the mortal plane of Faerun. This mostly involves solving magical imbalances and destroying forms of magic that are separate from Mystra's weave (the kind of things bg3 gale did as Mystra's chosen) The orb, in this case, Isn't a product of Gale's folly but rather a sort of shock collar that Mystra placed onto him. Most of the time, it lies dormant. An ever lasting reminder of Mystra's eyes on him. Should he ever deny Mystra's will, or fail to complete a task to the best of his abilities, the orb will cause an excruciating pain for him, that cannot be quelled unless he consumes artifacts or objects threaded with the weave. Reminding him that he is Mystra's pawn, she is the reason he exists as the celestial being he is now, rather than being cast down to the hells after death. ASTARION/CROWLEY (same thing about the name as with Gale.. I'll be more creative later) Astarion is a strange mixture of undead and infernal, caused by contract. While once a wealthy magistrate high elf, then turned vampire, he spent his time as a spawn praying to any god in the pantheon he thought might hear his plea for freedom or guidance, even the goblin god Maglubiyet, at some point. However not a single one heard his plea. His undead status enough to cut him off from the celestial plane, apparently. But not enough to cut him off from the hells. One night, when sneaking off under Cazador Szarr's orders, he was approached by a demon in disguise in the alleyways of baldurs gate. The demon had saw his suffering as Cazador's spawn, and his potential for lethality and general mischief, and offered a deal. He swore to Astarion that he would protect him from Cazador, and give him the ability to walk in the sun, if Astarion agreed to cause general havoc across Faerun and occasionally act as assassin for other clients of the infernal. Astarion, desperate for freedom from his vampiric master, reluctantly agreed. Most of the mischief he causes throughout Faerun are either direct "fuck you's" to the gods and the things they stand for, as the infernal generally have a good deal of beef with the celestial. (Which Astarion doesn't mind doing, as every god in the pantheon ignored his desperate cries for help,) and simple assassinations according to his infernal patron, deal breakers and pact defying warlocks mostly.

Waves waves hello mod!! I come to you with some questions actually,, phighting relates ones!!
I admit that i enjoy the more fandom/headcanon heavy sided version of phighting.. like how many people hc Zuka and Rocket having shark features!! And I was curious to know..
Do you have any headcanons you enjoy giving the phighting cast when you think of/write about them? Or do you try to keep them as close to "normal" as you can?
Also curious about another other thing!! Do you have any favorite characters?
And and.. who do you main.. if I may ask..

ohh ... lots of thoughts ... i'll go in phighter order in the name of order,.
for the shorter questions though, i bounce between mains a lot ... my big mains would be hyperlaser, subspace, vine staff and rocket depending on how im playing / the teams doing. however, i've spent a good amount of time on most of the phighters ! (other than coil. too much going on. scared.)
my favorites are scythe (i love a cowboy), skateboard (fun movement, fun character), vine staff (she's just cute, big fan), and coil (another fun character, i like wolf motifs)
sword - im always a little torn on the bird thing ... on one hand i like it because it ties him to his dad but on the other i like to think he has the instincts part but no wings or anything physical. his dad probably taught him some preening / nesting habits, but he couldn't really inherit the bird stuff since. y'know. i think its a cute way of tying him to his dad/the swords without necessarily making them seem biologically related, i think its an important part of sword that can get lost.
skate - not a huge hc but i've always imagined him sort of. i dunno what you call it. how deer or bulls fight with their horns. he does it for fun and it only makes his horns crack more.
rocket - little bit of a limp. undiagnosed autism goes crazy, i think he's a little more irritable than not just because he gets overwhelmed quickly. he takes phighting a pretty seriously, he's one of the first to make call-outs and try and get people moving on the same page.
scythe - snakey. it just works well. i think she's a little meaner than people tend to make her. she loves her family but she's not afraid to whip them into shape. she knows they can take it, it's their strength that allows them into the family in the first place, in her mind.
shuriken - shuriken is strange to me. he's a specific archetype of character that's very hit or miss for me so i headcanon him quite a bit. i like to imagine he takes after darkheart a little bit (visually at least, what with the similar color palettes), subconsciously or not, something something chaos and recklessness. i tend to reference black star for how i see him in terms of personality, he's got reason to brag but he's still a little immature for it.
slingshot - i wish people wrote him being stressed / tired more ... he's got a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and i think that plays into his behavior a lot. i imagine him being one of the more rational, strategic phighters (in daily life, at least) that just lets lose more during phights because, well, the extra money's nice but he's already getting it from his business so he can afford to be more laid back with it.
medkit - take my conditions boy. i like to imagine him having a little limp, nothing crazy but you can see it if you pay close attention to his gait. maybe from some childhood accident, maybe it's joint pain, not sure! also he has some chub i cannot take twinkit serious. he's pretty cynical and can push people away a little too quick; once bitten, twice shy
subspace - less of a headcanon maybe but i usually pair him with readers who are more morally grey/malicious, i just can't see him viewing someone who isn't willing to bend the rules or adheres to a 'goody-two-shoes' way of thinking as being on the same level- he hasn't gotten to where he is by being nice and compassionate, he's had to fight for it. much like scythe does, he sees strength and capability as someones most defining features (aside from their intellect, but they tend to go hand in hand for him).
